Nerve Cells
Site Plan | I. Neurons/nerve cells A neuron is a cell specialized to conduct electrochemical impulses
called nerve impulses or action potentials. Neuron is the main cellular component of the nervous
system, a specialized type of cell that integrates electrochemical activity of the other neurons that
are connected to it and that propagates that integrated activity to other neurons. They are the basic
information processing structures in the CNS. There are as many as 10,000 specific types of
neurons in the human brain, A. Types of Neurons a. Motor neurons gt;These transmit impulses from

Nerve conduction studies are now routine, and can be done in virtually any hospital equipped with
the appropriate machine and staffed with a qualified examiner. The nerve conduction study utilizes
a computer, computer monitor, amplifier, loudspeaker, electrical stimulator, and filters. These
filters are mathematical filters that can distinguish random, background electrical signals from
the signal produced by an activated nerve. When the study is done, small electrodes are placed
on the skin over the muscles being tested. Generally, these muscles are located in the arms or legs.
Some of the electrodes are designed to record the electrical signal that passes by them. Other
electrodes (reference electrodes) are designed to monitor the quality of the signals to make sure
that the test is operating properly. If monitoring of the test is not done, then the results obtained are
meaningless. After the electrodes are in place, a small electrical current can be applied to the skin.
The electrical stimulation is usually done at several points along the nerve, not just at a single
point. This is done because conduction of an impulse through a nerve is not uniform. Some regions
of a nerve conduct more slowly than other regions. By positioning the stimulating electrodes at
several sites, a more accurate overall measurement of conduction velocity is obtained. The electrical
current activates nerves in the

Roman Catholic Research Paper
Roman Catholicism is headed by the pope. For the first 1,500 years of Christianity, there wasn t
any type of Catholicism. Common traditions, beliefs, and worship were the body of Christian
believers around the world which is how they were all united; if you were a Christian, you
belonged to a catholic church. Any other type of beliefs was considered treachery to the Christianity
belief. In our time, there are multiple forms of Christianity besides Roman Catholicism. Being a
catholic in this time means that one has certain beliefs, practices, and traditions compared to those
of Protestantism, Anglicanism, Greek Orthodox, and all the other various types of Christianity.

This type of practice links back to the papacy s connections with monasticism. The Jesuits,
Dominicans, Franciscans, and the Augustinians are several of the Catholic monastic orders with
them being the most known. Roman Catholicism links back to the age of the apostles, especially
with one figure Peter. St. Peter. This individual was considered the first pope and every pope after
him was considered his spiritual successor. Centuries later, the church we know today, Roman
Catholic Church was created with its doctrines and practices. Non Catholics consider this church as,
having corrupted the original message of Christianity. (religionfacts, 2016) while from a catholic
perspective, the early church is faithfully continued in the developments of later centuries.
(religionfacts, 2016). By historian notes the Roman bishop Leo the first was considered the first
pope. The reason being was due to the fact that he was the first to claim authority over all of
Christendom. Apparently in his writing you can see traditional arguments for papal authority with
the most recognized being that of Christ and how he designated peter and his successors the rock in
which the church was built

Sacco And Bartolomeo Vanzetti Essay
The Sacco and Vanzetti Murder Trial
The murder trial of the Italians known as Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti was one of the
most controversial events during the 1920 s. The execution of the Italians by electric chair was
wrongfully convicted given that there wasn t enough evidence to prove that Sacco and Vanzetti
were responsible for the armed robbery. In fact, many commentators say that they were executed
mainly for their political views and not for their so called actions. In my opinion, the trial was
never properly handled and they should have never been executed or at least not given a real
chance to defend themselves.
On april 15, 1920 an armed robbery took place in South Braintree, Massachusetts. Two businessmen
were moving a $15,000 payroll to different location when an automobile with two men inside
showed up, shot them both and drove away. This is where it all starts, Nicola Sacco and
Bartolomeo Vanzetti are blamed for a crimethey were never a part of. I believe the police
department assumed they were guilty for two major reasons. 1) Mr. Sacco owned a gun of the
same type that was used in the crime scene back in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of Jeffrey Ostler s The Lakotas And The Black Hills
The Lakota, an Indian group of the Great Plains, established their community in the Black Hills in
the late eighteenth century (9). This group is an example of an Indian community that got severely
oppressed through imperialistic American actions and policy, as the Americans failed to recognize
the Lakota s sovereignty and ownership of the Black Hills. Jeffrey Ostler, author of The Lakotas
and the Black Hills: The Struggle for Sacred Ground, shows that the Lakota exemplified the trends
and subsequent challenges that Indians faced in America. These challenges included the plurality
of groups, a shared colonial experience, dynamic change, external structural forces, and historical
agency.
European Americans have commonly failed to recognize the plurality of American Indian groups,
as they have classified all Indians as being in the same group of natural beings that wear feathers
and ride on horses. However, there are many different American Indian groups and communities,
and some groups had further divisions, such as the Lakota. The Lakota were made of seven tribes,
the Oglalas, BrulГ©s, Minneconjous, Hunkpapas, Two Kettles, Sihasapas, and Sans Arcs (7). Out
of these, the Oglalas and the BrulГ©s got the most attention, as they spent the most time in the
Black Hills out of the tribes; however, the other tribes were definitely affected by United States
policy too as the Europeans set up forts all over their territory (13).
This plurality caused difficulty for the Lakota when

The Cooper-JACOB Time-Jacob Method
1.1AQUIFER PAREMETER ESTIMATION
The transmissivity and storativity was estimated using the Cooper Jacob (1965) time drawdown
and Theis (1935) recovery methods. The field data was uploaded into the FC program for Aquifer
Test Analysis (2014 version) which calculated the values for each method manually.
1.1.1COOPER JACOB TIME DRAWDOWN (1965)
Using the Cooper Jacob method the T and S value had been estimated for early and late time,
respectively, by plotting the best fitted straight line on the time drawdown plot (figure 18). The T
and S values are tabulated in table X. Borehole B2017 has been excluded from the plots as no
drawdowns have been measured. It should also be noted that UO 13 plot should be ignored as the
data obtained was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
UP 16 and UO 25 falls outside this range. The T during late time is very consistent, ranging
between 6.1 and 7.2 m2/d, for four of the six boreholes. UP 15 and UO 23 have high T value
indicating water influx from the matrix as well as fractures. The existences of fractures are
supported by EC profiling and flow characteristics.
1.1.2THEIS RECOVERY (1935)
The transmissivity of the eight boreholes was estimated by plotting the best fitted line on the Theis
plot. This was done using the FC program for Aquifer TestAnalysis (2014 version) which
produced the plots in figure 19. The transmissivity is tabulated in table. By comparing the
transmissivity estimated by Theis method to the transmissivity estimated by Cooper Jacob
method, the transmissivity corresponds moderately. According to Thies method the T ranges
from 22.4 to 54.8 m2/d with B2017 to have an exceptional high T of 111.0 m2/d. According
Cooper Jacob method the T ranges from 23.0 to 53.5 m2/d for early time and 6.1 to 28.0 m2/d for
late time. By applying the transmissivity standards (Gheorghe, 1978) six of the eight boreholes are
classified as low potential and two boreholes as moderate potential.
Since the test was done in a well in the Karoo Supergroup, it should be noted that the Theis method
tent to measure errors during the drawdown observed during the constant rate test, specifically
when the drawdown is measured manually (van Tonder et al., 2001a).

Transcendental Anticipation Report
In English class we did a Transcendental Anticipation Guide which would lead us into a bigger
project. This assignment gave us multiple controversial statements and we would write down
whether we agreed or not and why. We also had to come up with our own definitions to words we
did not recognize and compare these to the definitions of other people and those in the dictionary.
We would then talk about our answers and what we wrote down among the classroom. We would
discuss why we put what we put which would sometimes lead people to change their answers.
Before our actual class discussion we did a little preparing. This included looking up the definitions
to several words and writing them down. If we didn t understand what a statement was saying

Tikka Masala Research
Indian Chicken Tikka Masala, succulently tender chicken, radiantly rich and colorful, and laden
with a melody of spices. If there s one dish guaranteed to be on every Indian restaurant menu, it
is chicken tikka masala, which is composed of grilled chunks of chicken enveloped in a creamy
spiced tomato sauce. These are the thoughts that come to mind when I think of Chicken Tikka
Masala. I had traveled to India for the first time. When the dish is eaten with naan bread, it s like
an Indian version of pizza. Chicken tikka masala is fresher, healthier, cheaper, and tastier.
The sweetness and delicacy of the food made more curious to know how the food is prepared. I
went to the cook and enquired making Indian chicken tikka masala. The cook explained to me ...

7. Add the butter and stir until it melts into the sauce.
8. Stir in the fresh coriander, season with salt and pepper and finish with a squeeze or two of lemon
I went home and tried many times cooking Indian chicken tikka masala. I thought I had
understood all steps but forgot some. I tried to look online recipes but I was not successful. I
often have to add more sweetness to the chicken tikka masala by drizzling tamer and sauce or
mango chutney. All the recipes that I ve tried online also result in the same lack of sweetness that
I needed to achieve. I kept on trying severally times and every time I was improving. I had known
practice makes perfect.
My Indian cooking cookery skills have definitely stretched out exponentially, since visiting
India. One of my intentions for visiting India, was to learn how to cook Indian food properly. As
my past experience cooking Indian food had been epic failures, made even worse, by inviting
friends over to dinner, to eat some of my disastrous Indian cooking experiments. So, after so many
failures, I was on a mission to become proficient in at least one Indian dish before my departure

Fashion Fads In The 1960s And 1970s
Fashion is about the clothes, footwear, makeup and hairstyles. It is considered the pinnacle of
expressing oneself and is often associated with adolescents. In the late 1960s and 1970s fashion was
the epicentre of revolutionary change. The tremors felt by teenagers would result in the youth
culture explosion. Teenagers across the nation began to follow fashionfads such as the hippie look
of the late 1960s. The fashion trend that quickly followed was the anti fashion of 1970s. From then
on, many other fashion fads began to emerge, from the rebellious punk to the dancing disco styles
of mid 1970s. This decade of recurring revolutionary change would forever change the youth culture
of adolescents from being obedient teens to rebellious adolescents

Physical And Cultural Themes Of Geography Throughout The...
Geography is the mother of sciences . (Wickramaratne, 2015) Geography studies the physical and
cultural characteristics of different places and how they affect one another. Geography is
considered a social and physical science and is taught in classrooms throughout the United States.
Geography is taught in hope that someone can see the meaning in the arrangement of things on
Earths surface and be able to see relations between people, places, and environments, who uses
geographic skills, and who applies spatial and ecological perspectives to life situations. (Heffron
Downs, 2012) When Geographyis being taught it is broken down into five themes: location, place,
human earth interaction, movement, and regions.

Human Earth interaction uses two main ideas, accessibility and connectivity. Accessibility is how
easily we can reach other places, but connectivity is the way places remain connected: roads, train
tracks, telephone lines. Transportation and technology has made traveling between cities easier
allowing trade and movement to be possible on larger scale. Movement studies people s ability to
transport goods and themselves around the earth and to what impact. Globalization is making
movement more rapid. People connect and interact with each other and their environments in an
instant; allowing new technologies and fashions the ability to move around the world with a push
of a button. Many trends will start in one region and make their way to another allowing movement
to be created.
Regions are areas that have consistent characteristics by no fixed boundaries. Regions can include
deserts, countries, fairs, grocery stores and all different types of areas. There are four types of
regions geographers use to describe areas: administrative, formal, functional, and perceptual.
Administrative regions are dictated by the rules and laws of the land. States boundaries are defined

Literary Analysis of “Everything That Rises Must Converge”

Everything That Rises Must Converge is about racial judgment in the south in the 1960 s. O
Conors main focus in this story is how the white middle class viewed and treated people from
different races in the 1960 s. The story is an example of irony, redemption as well as a struggle of
identity among the characters. The main characters in O Connor s story are Julian an aspiring

he is better and smarter then her, even when some of her motives are pure and not meant to
come off as racist or hateful. He brings up the fact that he believes that he is too intelligent to be
a success which shows how truly high he views himself. We see irony throughout this story the
main example of Irony comes from Julian s view of himself. Julian shows anger and disproof of
his mother throughout the whole story, eve though he may be just as judgmental as his mother,
but because he thinks he accepts them he still feels better about himself. His mother talks about
how she had gotten him through college, and straightened his teeth to make sacrifices for him;
but Julian doesn t see that the same way. He s mother see s him as successful, and in all honesty
he is not. He sells typewriters so he is just a common worker nothing high and powerful. He
continuously imagines himself in his families old mansion, but still more accepting then his
family. He mentions that he has a first rate education at a third rate college which shows how he
clearly wasn t superior due to his schooling. He wasn t a professional at all. Julian fails many times
at proving his superiority too his mother. We see this when he attempts to try and make friends with

Reliability And Availability Evaluation Of A System Switched
RELIABILITY AND AVAILABILITY EVALUATION OF A SYSTEM SWITCHED TO
ANOTHER SIMILAR, SUBSTITUTE OR DUPLICATE SYSTEM ON TOTAL FAILURE
ABSTRACT
A two unit standby system is considered with two types of repair facilities. One facility repairs one
unit at a time and other facility repairs both the units simultaneously. When both the units fail, if
unit can be repair in short time then repair will be continued, otherwise in order to improve
availability another substitute system taken from outside is used, which is guaranteed for failure
free operation. Assuming failure and repair times as exponentially distributed, Expressions for the
mean time to system failure (MTSF), the steady state availability and busy period for system are
derived using linear first order differential equations. A particular case for the proposed system is
discussed in which substitute system was not considered. Also comparison is performed graphically
to observe the effect of the proposed system on Availability.
Keywords: Availability, Linear first order differential equation, Mean Time to System Failure,
Reliability, Steady State Availability.
1) INTRODUCTION
Competition exists in every field, to keep ahead a major challenge is availability improvement of a
system, as less availability has negative impact. People often use availability and reliability
interchangeably. In fact, however, the two terms are related but have distinct meanings. Reliability

Reducing and Eliminating Industrial Farms Essay
Industrial farm pollution is becoming a large problem, which is why our country should result to
organic farming. Many of today s farms are in an industrial factory rather than a nice green pasture.
These farms are looking to maximize profits and produce high quantities of food, which could
potentially be a good thing, in some certain cases, but not in this one. The industrial farms have no
concern for human health or the environment. They raise many health, environmental, and pesticide
issues, which all can be resolved with the act of organic farming. Many health issues come along
with industrial farming. Many chemicals used in agricultureare highly toxic to humans if

Unsanitary conditions in the factory farms are causing high levels of meat contamination (Ziggy).
This is a result of foodborne illnesses such as, Salmonella and Norovirus. The Center for Disease
Control estimates that each year roughly 1 in 6 Americans gets sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and
3,000 die of foodborne diseases (Center for Disease Control and Prevention). Industrial agriculture
operations are striving to maximize their production and profit, with putting no importance on the
safety and quality of their food. Factory farming also shows no disregards to human health.
Industrial farms also provoke many environmental issues. The practices of Industrial Agriculture
are harmful when it comes to waste management. Since they have such a large amount of
animals in one area is un natural, the waste becomes uncontrollable. For instance, a swine
produces about 17.5 pounds of waste each day (Loehr 26). Put 1,000 hogs together, and that s
six million pounds of waste each year. On a factory farm containing 35,000 hogs, over four
million pounds of waste are produced each week and over 200 million pounds each year. Whereas
on a sustainable farm animal waste can be a tool, in factory farm amounts it becomes a major
pollutant (Sustainable Versus Industrial). All the waste that is produced has an enormous impact on
the environment. The air, water, and soil are affected in the area around the factory farms. The
manure can be beneficial in some cases, but not

Dante s Inferno And The Balance Of Power Essay
In Dante s Inferno, Dante (the poet) targets the balance of power between the papacy and empire.
The imbalance between the two is at fault of the papacy, according to Dante, which is understood
to be due to the great refusal. With the great refusal, the papacy was able to fulfill its greed for
power which ultimately resulted in Dante s exile. However, unlike other poets and other influential
individuals of his time, specifically Thomas Aquinas, Dante took the next step to show how all
these sins came together to contribute to social disorder. Dante s divine comedyinfiltrates the
corruption in the church and its contribution to the political instability in Florence and even all of

The political turmoil became further drawn out between opposition for the empire to have power
or whether the power should be held by the papacy. According to Dante and Thomas Aquinas, a
philosopher and Franciscan during Dante s time, they both agree that the church s role did not
require the amount of power they were trying to acquire. However, a lot of that changed when
Pope Celestine V abandoned his duties of the papacy which gave rise to Dante s biggest enemy,
Pope Boniface VIII. Unlike Aquinas, for Dante the biggest things were the effect on the community
and the infiltration of trust which most of his characters in the Inferno are guilty of. However the
infiltration within the church is much too widespread and personally affected Dante; in turn in his

with the consumption of food. The human body depends on nutrients from carbohydrates, proteins,
fats, water, and fiber to function. Nutrition, exercise, and an appropriate diet work cohesively to
maintain that the body is working productively and at full capacity. This week s assignment

development of heart disease (Nall, 2011). The honey baked ham and chicken that my family
enjoyed did have a fatty film of saturated fat. I also tend to cook with milk and butter that is
another saturated fat. On top of my bread pudding on Saturday was a tablespoon scoop of vanilla

Personal Intake
After reviewing foods that provide the body with protein, carbohydrates, and lipids, it was
imperative to review my own personal intakes. My personal intake for the duration of the study
was 2011kcal with my recommended DRI at 2204 kcal. Most of my daily intakes were within the
recommended range, but there are areas within my diet that I need to adjust.
Protein
My protein DRI was to stay within 55 193g of which I consumed 72 g still within the recommend
range for my individual parameters. Proteins are essential for growth, tissue repair, and enzyme
protection (Cespedes, 2012). This project was eye opening as I realized the need to manage and
balance what I eat with my physical activity to offset my consumption intakes.

Sexual Orientation Discrimination in the Military
In September 2011, the United States lifted the Don t Ask, Don t Tell policy (DADT), which
restricted gay, lesbian, and bisexuals from openly serving in the military. This was the first time in
American history in which people of every sexual orientation could serve openly ( 11 Facts About,

members that had served in secret and those members that were firmly against gays and lesbians,
this repeal had different meaning. Both groups contained members that have served in the military

Despite the challenges and following numerous public debates and congressional hearings,
President Clinton has able to reach a compromise in 1993. The Don t Ask, Don t Tell, Don t
Pursue policy passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bill Clinton in 1993 was the
compromise outcome of Clinton s campaign promise to repeal the ban on military service by
homosexuals (Rich, Schutten Rogers, 2012). Soldiers would not be actively screened and as long
as their sexual orientation was kept personal, there would be no adverse actions taken. Under the
Don t Ask, Don t Tell between 1993 and 2011, over 14,000 military men and women were
discharged due to their sexual orientation ( 11 Facts About, n.d.).
The Don t Ask, Don t Tell policy did not explicitly state that gay, lesbian or bisexual was wrong. In
essence by creating a policy that required a person to hide their sexual orientation the US conveyed
the message to the military and the civilian population that gay, lesbian or bisexual was still wrong.
The 1993 policy did not strengthen communications between military members of varying sexual
orientation, in essence if strengthened the barrier by avoiding the subject. A study discussed by
Bonnie Moradi from the University of Florida revealed, sexual orientation concealment was

The Goals in Issues of Obamacare
The new health care reform law in America, Obamacare, increases the quality, availability, and
affordability of private and public health insurance to 44 million uninsured. It also is working to
curb the growth in healthcare spending in the U.S. which has been rising at an unsustainable rate.
Obamacare was passed in the senate on December 24, 2009, and passed in the house on March 21,
2010. It was signed into law by President Barack Obamaon March 23, 2010, and upheld in the
supreme court on June 28, 2012. The concept behind Obamacare was the individual mandate, which
requires that most Americans obtain health insuranceby the end of 2014 or they will have to pay a
tax penalty. This concept was first brought about by The Heritage Foundation as an alternative for
the single payer initiative, Medicare . This reform wasn t proposed or expanded until it was
implemented in Massachusetts by Governor Romney. During the 2008 elections, healthcare was a
booming subject for the Democratic party.
The Affordable Care Act includes measures to eliminate pre existing conditions, stop insurance
companies from dropping people when they are sick or unhealthy, expand the Medicaid, and
create state specific health insurance marketplaces to allow those who are in the middle or lower
classes so they can shop for free or low costing insurance. After these several changes, President
Barak Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law on March 23, 2010. This Affordable Care

Media and Body Image Essay
How do the media influence females? Images of female bodies are everywhere. Women, and

It seems that younger females are more apt to believe that most everything they see in the media
is realistic and attainable, and they try to mimic what they see on TV or read in magazines.
They also tend to watch TV shows like One Tree Hill, Laguna Beach, and Gilmore Girls. Why
do our young females look to these fictional characters for real life answers? Do they see these
characters as role models? One has to wonder if they believe that if they mimic how these
characters look and act they will belong and then they, too, can have the same outcome the
characters do. How many times have you walked down the street and seen an 8 or 9 year old girl
wearing something that might be more appropriate if worn by an adult? Females between the
ages of 9 12 read fashion and beauty magazines, and their exposure to these ideal images
coincides with a period in their lives where self regard and self efficacy is in decline. This is the
same time period where body image is tied to self esteem and it becomes quite fragile due to
physical changes of puberty. This is also the same time frame where the tendency for social
comparison is at its peak. Girls thus find themselves in a subculture of dieting, due to the messages
given by the media. Over the past 4 weeks I have spoken to many adolescent girls, ages 9 through

Writers enhanced their tags with stars and other designs. Some designs were for visual purpose
while others had meaning. For instance crowns were used by writers proclaiming themselves as
king. The next development was scale. Writers started to make their tags to a larger scale. The
standard nozzle width of a spray paint can is narrow so these larger tags while drawing more
attention than a standard tag did not have much visual weight. Writers began to increase the
thickness of the letters and would also outline them with an additional color. Writers discovered
that caps from other aerosol products could provide them with a larger width of spray. This led to
the development of the masterpiece. It is difficult to say who did the first masterpiece, but is
commonly credited to SUPER KOOL 223 of the Bronx and WAP of Brooklyn. The thicker letters
provided the opportunity to enhance the name. Writers decorated the interior of the letters with
what were termed designs. First with simple polka dots and later with stars. Designs were limited
to the writer s imagination. Writers eventually started to make the masterpieces the entire height of
the subway car. These masterpieces were termed top to bottoms. The addition color design and
scale were advancements but still strongly resembled the tags on what they were based. The
competitive atmosphere led to the development of actual styles, which would depart from the tag

Summary Of The Silent
Motionless, like a wounded prey cornered by its predator, I finally understood the definition of
fear. To be victimised as the villain of the story. To be discriminated as the plague behind all
creation s problems. To be stereotyped as the face of the oppressors. The fear was so
overwhelming and overpowering, as if my stomach was rotting away, with whatever dignity that
remained of me being eaten by blood thirsty parasites. I could only pray for the Earth beneath me

How Did The Founding Fathers Maintain Religious Freedom In...
After the revolutionary war the founding fathers set out to create a new government that would be
fair and just, and that the people would control. One of the first concepts they knew they wanted to
have was religious freedom here in this new country. Previously when they were under British
control the church of england was the only church they were allowed to go to and worship in. The
church of england also had a say in the way they were governed. These two things frustrated the
colonists very much and they wanted to make sure they would never have anything like that again
in their newly established country. While writing the constitution the founding fathers said
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof. When they said this they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first reason is that it was tyrannical and against our unalienable rights to have a religion
forced upon us, one that a lot of people may not believe in, but they would still be forced to
worship and participate in church activities. This would no longer be a free country if we were
forced to attend a church. The second reason is the fact that having a national church would give
them power to make decisions in government and be able to control the citizens the when the
citizens should have absolute power over all laws being voted on and all elected representatives.
The founding fathers wanted to steer clear of all possible future tyranny which is why they
created this separation of church and state and freedom of religion. This was the best way to
create a fair and just government for this new country they just fought for to keep. If we did not

Summary Of Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets
The book I read was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, written by J.K. Rowling. The story
takes place at Hogwarts, a school of witchcraft and wizardry. Harry Potter is a student at
Hogwarts, and Ron and Hermione are his best friends. The main focus was a secret chamber
hidden in the school, that has been opened and was opened years before. There were attacks on
the students by a basilisk snake, which was put there by an evil wizard named Voldemort. Harry,
Ron, and Hermione kept searching for clues to find out how the attacks were happening until
they were lead right to the answer. Over all, the book was a good story and was very exciting
and creative. The story begins when Dobby, a small house elf, warns Harry about something bad
in Hogwarts. Something bad did happen. It was the chamber. It was being opened and attacks
were coming from it. Harry was trying to figure out who was planning the attacks, what was in
the chamber, and who opened it. Harry, Hermione, and Ron made assumptions about who
opened it before, and tried to figure out who it was by making potions, spying, and talking to
different people about it. They often met in the girls prefects bathroom to talk. Once when they
were in there making a potion to get ideas out of people, they came across a magical diary by a
person named Tom Riddle. Harry figured out how to work the magic diary and was told that his
friend Poole2 and the professor of magical creatures, Hagrid opened the chamber before, but the

Policy And Institutional Frameworks On Vegetable Seed...
Policy and institutional frameworks impacting on vegetable seed production and distribution
systems in Cameroon
Abstract:
This study assessed policy and institutional frameworks impacting on vegetable seed production and
distribution systems in Cameroon in order to establish benchmark indicators for successful
integration and/or diversification of vegetables into existing cocoa based farming systems in the
humid tropics of Cameroon. Results reveal that official regulations and other policy instruments
necessary to boost the vegetable seed sector in Cameroon do exist, but need to be re formulated
into more concrete and implementable actions on the ground. The study identified and
characterized two main vegetable seed supply systems namely: the dominant informal system
dealing mainly with traditional vegetable species such as Amaranthus spp (amaranth) and the
formal seed supply system characterised by mostly by the production and sale of globally
important vegetable seed such as Brassica oleracea var. capitata (cabbage). The major constraints
observed in the vegetable seed sub sector include the inadaptability of legal instruments to the
vegetable seed sector, absence of effective storage conditions, absence of seed testing facilities,
poor knowledge on seed production and processing and the heterogeneity of seeds. Consequently,
farmers are obliged to fall back to unimproved seeds to the detriment of agricultural yields.

The Importance Of Youth Work Activities
During our time studying in the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu critical decisions regarding youth
work practice were made. One of these decisions was staying to wait for our boat to the island of
Savo. Many of the group woke up early to be at the port in time to catch our boat to be told that
we would be waiting at least another hour. During the wait the group found a comfortable spot and
relaxed. After the hour ended the group went back to the port in time to catch the boat however, we
ended up waiting another 45 minutes there as the boat needed fuel. Although waiting in humid 30
degree heat is difficult, patience and resilience were shown by all group members and it provided
an important learning opportunity for me which I will take into my youthwork practice. This wait
was not our first nor last in the Pacific Islands and by the end of the trip I understood what island
time was.
By waiting for the boat without complaint the group embraced the relaxed Pacific Islander
culture. This had positive effects throughout the day as once we had left the port, the day ran
smoothly. Any issue with the wait may have caused tension between the group and Paul or David
who were our tour guides for the day. This was not the first time the group had been kept waiting
on the trip, although we had only been there for a few days. The first was on our initial night in
Honiara at the church, in which the service started 45 minutes to an hour late. During this wait I

The Duty Of Women In Medea By Euripides
The duty of women portrayed in Greek society is a major subject in Euripides Medea. In old
Greek society, ladies are delicate and compliant as per men, and their social position is viewed
as exceptionally mediocre. Feminism is the hypothesis of men being viewed different in contrast
to women and the male predominance over ladies in the public eye. Women s lives are spoken to
by the parts they either pick or have forced on them. This is obvious in the play Medea by Euripides
through the characters of Medea and the medical attendant. During the day and age which
Medea is set ladies have exceptionally restricted social power and no political power by any
stretch of the imagination, despite the fact that a ladies maternal and residential power was
regarded in the protection of the home, Our lives rely upon how his lordship feels. The
constrained power these ladies were given is diverse to present day society yet parts are as yet
forced on ladies to acclimate and be a devoted spouse. Ladies have dependably been dis engaged
because of their sex in present day and antiquated circumstances alike. In Corinth they are
required to run the family unit and fit in with social desires of an obedient spouse. Medea, being
an eternal and relative from the divine beings has a specific power in insight and guileful
keenness. Being an outsider, Medea s wayward nonsensical conduct was normal in this play as
she was not conceived in Greece and was viewed as an exotic foreigner. She goes over to the
group of onlookers as an intense female character regarding viciousness. Some of Medea s
responses and decisions have all the earmarks of being made a huge deal about as creators for
the most part influence characters to appear to be overwhelming; this makes a superior
comprehension of the content and the issues which are produced through the characters. Medea
s ill conceived marriage and the double crossing of Jason drive Medea to outrageous vengeance.
Medea acts with her immortal self and confer coldhearted demonstrations of murder instead of
legitimize the results of her actions. Medea see s this choice as her lone resort as she has been
exiled and has no place to go, stripped of her place. To make sensitivity for Medea, Euripides

Jonbenet Murder Theories
An unexpected murder with unexplained evidence all surrounding a 6 year old pageant queen

about JonBenet, evidence shows that it was most likely her brother. Jonbenet Ramsey was a
beauty pageant queen that was found dead on the day after Christmas in a storage room in her
basement of her house in Boulder Colorado. Jonbenet was born on August 6, 1990 in Atlanta
Georgia, and was only 6 years old when she was found dead. There was a ransom note left on the
stairs addressed to the dad and when her mom woke up and came down stairs she found it and it
was asking for the exact amount of money of the bonus that the dad got earlier that year. The note
was 2 ВЅ pages long and was written from a notepad from their house. When she was found she

Jonbenet Ramsey. In his earlier years he had child pornography charges in the us. He was

An Examination Into The Respective Proofs Of St. Aquinas
An Examination into the Respective Proofs of St. Anselm and St. Aquinas During the Medieval
Period, philosophers shifted their focus primarily to proving the existence of God, as well as other
religious tenets. Two Saints of the Catholic Church, St. Anselm and St. Thomas Aquinas, developed
their own respective proofs for the existenceof God. These proofs have gained fame over the
subsequent centuries and still face debate and comparison today. Although both St. Anselm and St.
Thomas Aquinasoffer proofs for the existence of God, the proofs differ drastically due to the
distinct argumentative methods utilized by each author, as well as the differing overall strengths
and weaknesses each proof yields. To begin comparing the proofs, one must first state them. St.
Anselm s proof is most clearly described by defining God as that than which no greater can be
conceived (Melchert, 260). With this definition in mind, one can contemplate St. Augustine s
Great Chain of Being and realize that existence gives something more being, or more greatness,
than non existence (Melchert, 261). It follows, then, that we grasp an idea of God, which would
be greater if it actually existed, therefore it (our idea of God) exists. Anselm s definition of God
and Augustine s theory of the Great Chain of Being are the only requirements for Anselm s proof
of the existence of God to work. St. Thomas Aquinas actually posits five separate proofs, but due to
length constraints, this paper will only

The Meditations By Marcus Aurelius
The universe has a plan for all of us, and we need to follow it. When you asked me what book we
should assign to all of our employees, I immediately thought about The Meditations by Marcus

Forgetting past troubles and current issues will help our employees to work hard at what they

Track Multi Target As Camera Motion Essay
MCMC particle filter
In this project, it is challenging issue to track multi target as camera motion is unknown. To deal
with this issue and targets occlusion, the camera parameters are calculated and targets were also
tracked within the 3D coordinates [W. Choi] at the same time. To be specific, it is aimed 1) to
solve the multi object tracking issue by using a single non calibrated camera, [W. Choi] 2). to deal
with complicated scenes in which multiple pedestrians are moving and occluding each other [W.
Choi] at the same time, 3). to calculate the 2D/3D trajectories within the camera reference system
[W. Choi].
The important task in this project was to calculate camera parameters (such as camera pose and
focal length of a camera) and track objects such as pedestrians as they move in the scene [W.
Choi]. Tracks are helpful in calculating the parameters of a camera by using their velocity and
scale within the image plane; simultaneously, camera parameters can help to follow objects very
robustly as previous important information is available. This enables to calculate object 3D
trajectories in the reference system of a camera. The author used a simplified camera model which
allows finding a powerful compact relationship between the variables such as camera parameters
and target, with the help of projection constraints of a camera. The identification of a handful of
feature tracks which associated with the static background allows adding extra constraints to the
camera

Climate Change Is Our Fault
Climate Change is Our Fault The truth is earth is heating up and it is partially humans fault. The
simplest of human activities can alter the climates to change. Humans are not the only climate
drivers. There are also natural factors ( How Much Does Human Activity Affect Climate Change? ).
The earth is changing due to the climatechanges . For future generations the earth may perhaps look

main factor in the ongoing climate change. Many daily activities contribute to climate change.
These activities include the burning of fossil fuels ( A Blanket Around the Earth ). Co2 is the
main heat trapping gas ( How Do We Know That Humans Are the Major Cause of Global Warming

atmosphere. The fuels that are being released are jumbling with earth s natural greenhouse
gasses. For every gallon of gas that is burned, 1300 times that of CO2 is released. Also a gallon
gas weighs 6lbs, but the CO2 that is released weights over 19lbs ( How Much Does Human

Compare And Contrast The Yellow Wallpaper And Half The Sky
Both The Yellow Wallpaper and Half the Sky imply women should be freed from oppression and
inequality. However, each text approaches the problem of oppression in a different way. While
both The Yellow Wallpaper and Half the Sky underscore how women are constrained physically
and emotionally within a male dominated society, the stories diverge in how they understand this
oppression. In The Yellow Wallpaper the narrator s relationship to her bedroom s wallpaper and
her descent into mental illness symbolize the social danger of misogyny, even if it is well intended.
But in Half the Sky genderinequality is expressed through actual cases of physical and sexual
violence. In these nonfiction stories the YW is fiction??, the writers show that, despite extreme
brutality and violence, women in the developing the YW is in the developed world though it
takes place in the past. world are capable of living a fulfilling and productive life. While both texts
agree that women should be free, the writers differ in how they express the experience of
oppression and the reasons it should be ended.

The Private Sector
1 Introduction
The main objective of the private sector is to earn profits and become a leading organization in their
line of business. To enhance this objective, most of the private sectors have embraced technological
advancements where business is operated online. E business is one of the current advancements
where a business can advertise, market and make sales through the Internet. The business has to
share its information online to attract a large pool of potential customers. Most of the business
websites operates on intranets and extranets. Customers can only gain access to business
information through the extranet. Authorized users can access most of the crucial and confidential
information of a business through the intranet via an encrypted link. Thus, the business can secure
its confidential information and protect its customers.
2 General Business Goals
With the rising cases of cyber threats, businesses are at risk of losing their confidential information
to unauthorized users. To deal with this menace, the lawmakers should address these issues
through promoting the understanding of the risks associated with cybercrime. They should also be
involve in acknowledging and addressing the cultural aspects of cybercrime as well as developing

Civil disobedience is the act of going against the law and refusal to do what the government
says. It is very common in many countries all over the world. Henry David Thoreau wrote a book
on civil disobedience which is very good. He speaks on a lot of things that are wrong with the
government and the citizens. It was first published in 1889. There are so many acts of civil

She got arrested plenty of more times. July 30, 1909 she was arrested for two months in prison
for obstruction. On September 4, 1909 she was arrested for two months for stone throwing at
White City, Manchester. October 20, 1909 she was in jail for a month for stone throwing at
Radcliffe near Manchester and on November 19, 1910 one month for breaking windows in the
House of Commons. She was arrested all of those times for throwing stones because her and
other women would chain themselves to government buildings and throw stones through the
windows to gain their attention. January 10, 1912 six months for setting fire to postal boxes at
Holloway, London. Lastly on November 30, 1912 ten days for assaulting a vicar who she mistook
to be David Lloyd George. Emily would do all of this just to win the rights of women being able to
vote and get equal rights as men.
Davison had a very interesting but tragic death. She died June 4, 1913 on a Wednesday. She got
injured at an horse race called the Epsom Derby. Emily was standing by the white rail near
Tattenham corner when a group of horses passed. She had on a trench coat and under it she had
a flag in the WSPU colors of purple, white, and green tied around her body. When the second
group of horses passed she climbed under the railing and raised her hands up. Emily tried to grab
the rein of the King s horse Anmer. Anmer knocked her over, rolled on his back, and started
kicking her super hard. Horses kick

Introduction:
Today, we have cloud the digital universe of information freely available to us. The current
estimate of the amount of information is 4000 Exabyte in size . A good analogy is 4000 Exabyte
is roughly equivalent to a stack of books from the earth to Pluto and back, 80 times. We only
began to create that less than 20 years ago. Devices like cell phones, iPads allow us to access this
information from anywhere on this earth, anytime.

Comparing Kripke s From Naming And Necessity
The essence of philosopher Saul Kripke s writing, From Naming and Necessity is the
misconceived (in Kripke s opinion) notion for the qualifications present in the theory of naming
an object as compiled by the descriptivist theory. It deals with the arguments of proper nouns in
the language philosophy. The use of language while referring to a person or express a thought has
led language to be of fundamental concern to the analytic philosophers. Kripke gave credit to
descriptive theories explained by Russell, Frege, Searle, and Wittgenstein. Kripke s distaste for the
previously named individuals beliefs is difficult to disagree with. His interpretation, although
radical, does seem to make sense to an extent. The six postulates presented by... Show more content

He is particularly concerned with the concept of cluster description. The supporters of the
descriptive theory argue that a name corresponds to a descriptive meaning rather than a definite
description. It is impracticable to attach any significance to a specific description in the meaning
of names. For instance, someone known as Jeff Wellington would be a church leader living in
Knoxville Street and would still be David s dad bearded and with a bald. All such descriptions
refer to one person Jeff Wellington each giving us more information about him. Jeff is a man of
God and a father, thus the idea of cluster concept. Whatever satisfies most of the cluster of
description attached to a name is the original bearer of that particular

Digital Technology on the Media Industry
Explore the impact of digital technologies on the music industries
In recent years, digital technologies have changed dramatically, consequentially having a significant
impact on the music industry, who have been forced to alter their methods of production; to
counteract the increased fickleness of music audiences, whose tastes are ever changing and seek
instant gratification. The evolution of the music industry has been acutely influenced by the
developments in technology. It could be argued that technology has been a significant challenge for
style of cultural production, the economic relationships within these, and of course... the law.
In addition, whilst piracy has always been an issue, the widespread use of internet based ... Show

Conversely as many artists and record companies argue music distribution in this manner has
many a disadvantage. For example, It has been estimated that over 95% of downloading is done
illegally, and the ease of access has turned this type of illegal activity into a casual affair, which is
done on a frequent basis. The concern is artists not receiving their appropriate royalties, as
obviously when downloading in an illegal fashion, nothing is actually purchased.
Recently there has been quite a backlash, with musicians attempting to sue file sharing and music
distributing sites, demanding sums of money for each song that s been illegally copied. Obviously
the issue of theft is rife, but the argument is that it s the people performing the acts that are against
the law that should be punished, and not the technology itself. The publicity in cases like these
seem to make the artist appear less popular, and ironically it s the sites that actually benefit from the
media attention, by the increased hits from curious media consumers.
A recent report suggests that only 5% of the music we acquire from online is purchased
legitimately. It s been said that at least 7 million people in Britain alone use illegal downloads,
costing the economy not just billions of pounds, but also thousands of jobs too. David Lammy,
minister for intellectual property, said: Illegal

Gateway Of The United States
Gateway to be Americanize
America is the number one country that people from all around the world want to come in order
to have a better life. To be able to enter the United States legally, the country requires a Visa for
entering and be able to stay in the period of time. However there are some people that happen to
enter the country illegally without the visa. According to the Migration Policy institute, in 2012
there are 11.4 undocumented immigrants in the US. and 4.1 million undocumented immigrants
who brought children who were under 16 to the country with them. Unfortunately, the children who
come to America illegally at such a young age do not know about their status in the country. They
embrace America as their own country and they are familiar with the US. more than the countries
that they were born in. Moreover young undocumented immigrants who grow up in America more
likely to eager to push themselves to be nearly as American. Education is what makes them move to
the middle class, to be Americanized. Although, the road for young undocumented immigrants had
been impossible to reach, but the government has been introduced the policy that makes young
undocumented students lives more reality which are DACA and DREAMS Act . DACA and
DREAM act are the policies that have good benefits to young undocumented immigrants, however,
there are downsides to this two policies that could harm immigrants who live in America illegally.

The Issue Of Sexual Orientation
In the United States of America, 1.8 percent of men and 1.5 percent of women identify themselves
as homosexuals (Volokh 1). This means that in a group of one hundred men, around two of them
are homosexuals, and the same goes for women. The background regarding sexual orientation is
vast, and a lot of different definitions of the concept have been introduced throughout time.
Nevertheless, although homosexualityis fairly common in the United States, many people still
misunderstand it. The different types of sexual orientations and their difference from other sexual
related terms, such as genderrole and gender identity, are all confused by the general population.
Sadly, even today, there are people that believe in a right or wrong sexual orientation. Moreover, the
origins of sexual orientation are highly discussed and debated by the scientific community, with
theories including biological and environmental explanations. The importance of such origins
resides in the fact that this nature nurture debate is capable of changing people s perspectives
towards homosexuality, and even though the media has done a great job by transforming any sex
related topic from a taboo to an acceptable conversation point, society still needs to grasp a lot about
sexual orientation. Particularly, the fact that sexual orientation is a complex, largely misunderstood
human characteristic resulting from a combination of biological and environmental factors that
play an essential role in society s

Korean Culture Report Essay
KOREAN CULTURE REPORT HUMOR
I was the funny guy in my clique of high school friends. Ever since I learned to read English, I
enjoyed reading and collecting joke books. I exhausted every single joke book from the small
community library in town. Riddles, jokes about animals and wildlife, reasons why I didn t do my
homework, lawyer jokes, and later on, ethnic jokes. I knew they were funny, but I wanted more.
Perhaps it was my lack of physical achievements that made me obsess with a need to entertain my
peers.
My return to Korea in the summer of 2001 was nothing short of a culture shock. I was in a country
I thought I had learned by heart. It was the country I always rooted my identity and pride from. I
wasn t ready for the shock. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Talchum is a type of Korean dance performed with a mask, miming, speaking, and singing. It is
loosely choreographed in the traditional sense of a dance, and organized more towards theatre. It
was a farcical caricature of its contemporary era, with a sick twist of vicarious humor, from its
very roots traced back to the era of ancient Three Kingdoms of Korea (37 BC 668 AD). The
leading appeal of Talchum has always been the biting satire and vicarious ridicule it pointed at
apostate Buddhist monks, decadent upper classmen, and incompetent shamans. It is interesting to
note that the aggressive nose thumbing was towards the upper class, religious leaders, and
generally figures higher in the social rung.
The farcical, burlesque aspects of Talchum as our cultural heritage did not translate very well into
modern culture in Korea, but the satire of authority figures did. For example, watch Infinite
Challenge, a highly successful Korean television entertainment program (highest non drama
viewership since November 2006). Six members appear regularly on the show, each member
revolving around a certain archetype. Yoo Jae suk, the leader. Park Myeong su the elder brother
and entrepreneur. Jeong Jun Ha the obese, Jeong Hyeong don the awkward, Ha

Neuron is the main cellular component of the nervous system, a specialized type of cell that integrates electrochemical activity of the other neurons that are connected to it and that propagates that integrated activity to other neurons. They are the basic information processing structures in the CNS. There are as many as 10,000 specific types of neurons in the human brain, A. Types of Neurons a. Nerve conduction studies are now routine, and can be done in virtually any hospital equipped with the appropriate machine and staffed with a qualified examiner. The nerve conduction study utilizes a computer, computer monitor, amplifier, loudspeaker, electrical stimulator, and filters. These filters are mathematical filters that can distinguish random, background electrical signals from the signal produced by an activated nerve. When the study is done, small electrodes are placed on the skin over the muscles being tested. Generally, these muscles are located in the arms or legs. Some of the electrodes are designed to record the electrical signal that passes by them. Other electrodes (reference electrodes) are designed to monitor the quality of the signals to make sure that the test is operating properly. If monitoring of the test is not done, then the results obtained are meaningless. After the electrodes are in place, a small electrical current can be applied to the skin. The electrical stimulation is usually done at several points along the nerve, not just at a single point. This is done because conduction of an impulse through a nerve is not uniform. Some regions of a nerve conduct more slowly than other regions. By positioning the stimulating electrodes at several sites, a more accurate overall measurement of conduction velocity is obtained. The electrical current activates nerves in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Common traditions, beliefs, and worship were the body of Christian believers around the world which is how they were all united; if you were a Christian, you belonged to a catholic church. Any other type of beliefs was considered treachery to the Christianity belief. In our time, there are multiple forms of Christianity besides Roman Catholicism. Sacco And Bartolomeo Vanzetti Essay The Sacco and Vanzetti Murder Trial The murder trial of the Italians known as Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti was one of the most controversial events during the 1920 s. The execution of the Italians by electric chair was wrongfully convicted given that there wasn t enough evidence to prove that Sacco and Vanzetti were responsible for the armed robbery. In fact, many commentators say that they were executed mainly for their political views and not for their so called actions. In my opinion, the trial was never properly handled and they should have never been executed or at least not given a real chance to defend themselves. On april 15, 1920 an armed robbery took place in South Braintree, Massachusetts. Two businessmen were moving a $15,000 payroll to different location when an automobile with two men inside showed up, shot them both and drove away. This is where it all starts, Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti are blamed for a crimethey were never a part of. • 5. Analysis Of Jeffrey Ostler s The Lakotas And The Black Hills The Lakota, an Indian group of the Great Plains, established their community in the Black Hills in the late eighteenth century (9). This group is an example of an Indian community that got severely oppressed through imperialistic American actions and policy, as the Americans failed to recognize the Lakota s sovereignty and ownership of the Black Hills. Jeffrey Ostler, author of The Lakotas and the Black Hills: The Struggle for Sacred Ground, shows that the Lakota exemplified the trends and subsequent challenges that Indians faced in America. These challenges included the plurality of groups, a shared colonial experience, dynamic change, external structural forces, and historical agency. European Americans have commonly failed to recognize the plurality of American Indian groups, as they have classified all Indians as being in the same group of natural beings that wear feathers and ride on horses. However, there are many different American Indian groups and communities, and some groups had further divisions, such as the Lakota. The Lakota were made of seven tribes, the Oglalas, BrulГ©s, Minneconjous, Hunkpapas, Two Kettles, Sihasapas, and Sans Arcs (7). Out of these, the Oglalas and the BrulГ©s got the most attention, as they spent the most time in the Black Hills out of the tribes; however, the other tribes were definitely affected by United States policy too as the Europeans set up forts all over their territory (13). The existences of fractures are supported by EC profiling and flow characteristics. 1.1.2THEIS RECOVERY (1935) The transmissivity of the eight boreholes was estimated by plotting the best fitted line on the Theis plot. This was done using the FC program for Aquifer TestAnalysis (2014 version) which produced the plots in figure 19. The transmissivity is tabulated in table. By comparing the transmissivity estimated by Theis method to the transmissivity estimated by Cooper Jacob method, the transmissivity corresponds moderately. According Cooper Jacob method the T ranges from 23.0 to 53.5 m2/d for early time and 6.1 to 28.0 m2/d for late time. By applying the transmissivity standards (Gheorghe, 1978) six of the eight boreholes are classified as low potential and two boreholes as moderate potential. Since the test was done in a well in the Karoo Supergroup, it should be noted that the Theis method tent to measure errors during the drawdown observed during the constant rate test, specifically when the drawdown is measured manually (van Tonder et al., 2001a). 1.1.3COOPER JACOB ... Reliability And Availability Evaluation Of A System Switched RELIABILITY AND AVAILABILITY EVALUATION OF A SYSTEM SWITCHED TO ANOTHER SIMILAR, SUBSTITUTE OR DUPLICATE SYSTEM ON TOTAL FAILURE ABSTRACT A two unit standby system is considered with two types of repair facilities. One facility repairs one unit at a time and other facility repairs both the units simultaneously. When both the units fail, if unit can be repair in short time then repair will be continued, otherwise in order to improve availability another substitute system taken from outside is used, which is guaranteed for failure free operation. Assuming failure and repair times as exponentially distributed, Expressions for the mean time to system failure (MTSF), the steady state availability and busy period for system are derived using linear first order differential equations. A particular case for the proposed system is discussed in which substitute system was not considered. Also comparison is performed graphically to observe the effect of the proposed system on Availability. This reform wasn t proposed or expanded until it was implemented in Massachusetts by Governor Romney. During the 2008 elections, healthcare was a booming subject for the Democratic party. The Affordable Care Act includes measures to eliminate pre existing conditions, stop insurance companies from dropping people when they are sick or unhealthy, expand the Medicaid, and create state specific health insurance marketplaces to allow those who are in the middle or lower classes so they can shop for free or low costing insurance. After these several changes, President Barak Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law on March 23, 2010. This Affordable Care Act includes over a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Women s magazines are full of articles urging women to fit a certain mold. Although the magazines differ, they all seemingly convey the same idea: if you have the perfect body image you can have it allВ…the perfect marriage, loving children, great sex, and a rewarding career. It seems that younger females are more apt to believe that most everything they see in the media is realistic and attainable, and they try to mimic what they see on TV or read in magazines. They also tend to watch TV shows like One Tree Hill, Laguna Beach, and Gilmore Girls. Why do our young females look to these fictional characters for real life answers? Do they see these characters as role models? One has to wonder if they believe that if they mimic how these characters look and act they will belong and then they, too, can have the same outcome the characters do. How many times have you walked down the street and seen an 8 or 9 year old girl wearing something that might be more appropriate if worn by an adult? Females between the ages of 9 12 read fashion and beauty magazines, and their exposure to these ideal images coincides with a period in their lives where self regard and self efficacy is in decline. This is the same time period where body image is tied to self esteem and it becomes quite fragile due to physical changes of puberty. This is also the same time frame where the tendency for social comparison is at its peak. Girls thus find themselves in a subculture of dieting, due to the messages given by the media. After the revolutionary war the founding fathers set out to create a new government that would be fair and just, and that the people would control. One of the first concepts they knew they wanted to have was religious freedom here in this new country. Previously when they were under British control the church of england was the only church they were allowed to go to and worship in. The church of england also had a say in the way they were governed. These two things frustrated the colonists very much and they wanted to make sure they would never have anything like that again in their newly established country. The second reason is the fact that having a national church would give them power to make decisions in government and be able to control the citizens the when the citizens should have absolute power over all laws being voted on and all elected representatives. Policy and institutional frameworks impacting on vegetable seed production and distribution systems in Cameroon Abstract: This study assessed policy and institutional frameworks impacting on vegetable seed production and distribution systems in Cameroon in order to establish benchmark indicators for successful integration and/or diversification of vegetables into existing cocoa based farming systems in the humid tropics of Cameroon. Results reveal that official regulations and other policy instruments necessary to boost the vegetable seed sector in Cameroon do exist, but need to be re formulated into more concrete and implementable actions on the ground. The study identified and characterized two main vegetable seed supply systems namely: the dominant informal system dealing mainly with traditional vegetable species such as Amaranthus spp (amaranth) and the formal seed supply system characterised by mostly by the production and sale of globally important vegetable seed such as Brassica oleracea var. capitata (cabbage). The major constraints observed in the vegetable seed sub sector include the inadaptability of legal instruments to the vegetable seed sector, absence of effective storage conditions, absence of seed testing facilities, poor knowledge on seed production and processing and the heterogeneity of seeds. Consequently, farmers are obliged to fall back to unimproved seeds to the detriment of agricultural yields. Key words: Legal instruments, policy framework, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of these decisions was staying to wait for our boat to the island of Savo. Many of the group woke up early to be at the port in time to catch our boat to be told that we would be waiting at least another hour. During the wait the group found a comfortable spot and relaxed. After the hour ended the group went back to the port in time to catch the boat however, we ended up waiting another 45 minutes there as the boat needed fuel. Although waiting in humid 30 degree heat is difficult, patience and resilience were shown by all group members and it provided an important learning opportunity for me which I will take into my youthwork practice. This wait was not our first nor last in the Pacific Islands and by the end of the trip I understood what island time was. This was not the first time the group had been kept waiting on the trip, although we had only been there for a few days. • 31. The Duty Of Women In Medea By Euripides The duty of women portrayed in Greek society is a major subject in Euripides Medea. In old Greek society, ladies are delicate and compliant as per men, and their social position is viewed as exceptionally mediocre. Feminism is the hypothesis of men being viewed different in contrast to women and the male predominance over ladies in the public eye. Women s lives are spoken to by the parts they either pick or have forced on them. This is obvious in the play Medea by Euripides through the characters of Medea and the medical attendant. During the day and age which Medea is set ladies have exceptionally restricted social power and no political power by any stretch of the imagination, despite the fact that a ladies maternal and residential power was regarded in the protection of the home, Our lives rely upon how his lordship feels. The constrained power these ladies were given is diverse to present day society yet parts are as yet forced on ladies to acclimate and be a devoted spouse. Ladies have dependably been dis engaged because of their sex in present day and antiquated circumstances alike. In Corinth they are required to run the family unit and fit in with social desires of an obedient spouse. Medea, being an eternal and relative from the divine beings has a specific power in insight and guileful keenness. Being an outsider, Medea s wayward nonsensical conduct was normal in this play as she was not conceived in Greece and was viewed as an exotic foreigner. She goes over to the group of onlookers as an intense female character regarding viciousness. Some of Medea s responses and decisions have all the earmarks of being made a huge deal about as creators for the most part influence characters to appear to be overwhelming; this makes a superior comprehension of the content and the issues which are produced through the characters. Medea s ill conceived marriage and the double crossing of Jason drive Medea to outrageous vengeance. Medea acts with her immortal self and confer coldhearted demonstrations of murder instead of legitimize the results of her actions. Medea see s this choice as her lone resort as she has been exiled and has no place to go, stripped of her place. To make sensitivity for Medea, Euripides ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. An Examination Into The Respective Proofs Of St. Aquinas An Examination into the Respective Proofs of St. Anselm and St. Aquinas During the Medieval Period, philosophers shifted their focus primarily to proving the existence of God, as well as other religious tenets. Two Saints of the Catholic Church, St. Anselm and St. Thomas Aquinas, developed their own respective proofs for the existenceof God. These proofs have gained fame over the subsequent centuries and still face debate and comparison today. Although both St. Anselm and St. Thomas Aquinasoffer proofs for the existence of God, the proofs differ drastically due to the distinct argumentative methods utilized by each author, as well as the differing overall strengths and weaknesses each proof yields. To begin comparing the proofs, one must first state them. St. Anselm s proof is most clearly described by defining God as that than which no greater can be conceived (Melchert, 260). With this definition in mind, one can contemplate St. Augustine s Great Chain of Being and realize that existence gives something more being, or more greatness, than non existence (Melchert, 261). It follows, then, that we grasp an idea of God, which would be greater if it actually existed, therefore it (our idea of God) exists. Anselm s definition of God and Augustine s theory of the Great Chain of Being are the only requirements for Anselm s proof of the existence of God to work. St. Thomas Aquinas actually posits five separate proofs, but due to length constraints, this paper will only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To deal with this issue and targets occlusion, the camera parameters are calculated and targets were also tracked within the 3D coordinates [W. Choi] at the same time. To be specific, it is aimed 1) to solve the multi object tracking issue by using a single non calibrated camera, [W. Choi] 2). to deal with complicated scenes in which multiple pedestrians are moving and occluding each other [W. Choi] at the same time, 3). to calculate the 2D/3D trajectories within the camera reference system [W. Choi]. The important task in this project was to calculate camera parameters (such as camera pose and focal length of a camera) and track objects such as pedestrians as they move in the scene [W. Choi]. Tracks are helpful in calculating the parameters of a camera by using their velocity and scale within the image plane; simultaneously, camera parameters can help to follow objects very robustly as previous important information is available. This enables to calculate object 3D trajectories in the reference system of a camera. The author used a simplified camera model which allows finding a powerful compact relationship between the variables such as camera parameters and target, with the help of projection constraints of a camera. Comparing Kripke s From Naming And Necessity The essence of philosopher Saul Kripke s writing, From Naming and Necessity is the misconceived (in Kripke s opinion) notion for the qualifications present in the theory of naming an object as compiled by the descriptivist theory. It deals with the arguments of proper nouns in the language philosophy. The use of language while referring to a person or express a thought has led language to be of fundamental concern to the analytic philosophers. Kripke gave credit to descriptive theories explained by Russell, Frege, Searle, and Wittgenstein. Kripke s distaste for the previously named individuals beliefs is difficult to disagree with. His interpretation, although radical, does seem to make sense to an extent. The six postulates presented by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The supporters of the descriptive theory argue that a name corresponds to a descriptive meaning rather than a definite description. It is impracticable to attach any significance to a specific description in the meaning of names. For instance, someone known as Jeff Wellington would be a church leader living in Knoxville Street and would still be David s dad bearded and with a bald. All such descriptions refer to one person Jeff Wellington each giving us more information about him. Jeff is a man of God and a father, thus the idea of cluster concept. The evolution of the music industry has been acutely influenced by the developments in technology. Conversely as many artists and record companies argue music distribution in this manner has many a disadvantage. For example, It has been estimated that over 95% of downloading is done illegally, and the ease of access has turned this type of illegal activity into a casual affair, which is done on a frequent basis. The concern is artists not receiving their appropriate royalties, as obviously when downloading in an illegal fashion, nothing is actually purchased. Recently there has been quite a backlash, with musicians attempting to sue file sharing and music distributing sites, demanding sums of money for each song that s been illegally copied. Obviously the issue of theft is rife, but the argument is that it s the people performing the acts that are against the law that should be punished, and not the technology itself. The publicity in cases like these seem to make the artist appear less popular, and ironically it s the sites that actually benefit from the media attention, by the increased hits from curious media consumers. A recent report suggests that only 5% of the music we acquire from online is purchased legitimately. It s been said that at least 7 million people in Britain alone use illegal downloads, costing the economy not just billions of pounds, but also thousands of jobs too. • 47. The Issue Of Sexual Orientation In the United States of America, 1.8 percent of men and 1.5 percent of women identify themselves as homosexuals (Volokh 1). This means that in a group of one hundred men, around two of them are homosexuals, and the same goes for women. The background regarding sexual orientation is vast, and a lot of different definitions of the concept have been introduced throughout time. Nevertheless, although homosexualityis fairly common in the United States, many people still misunderstand it. The different types of sexual orientations and their difference from other sexual related terms, such as genderrole and gender identity, are all confused by the general population. Sadly, even today, there are people that believe in a right or wrong sexual orientation. Moreover, the origins of sexual orientation are highly discussed and debated by the scientific community, with theories including biological and environmental explanations. The importance of such origins resides in the fact that this nature nurture debate is capable of changing people s perspectives towards homosexuality, and even though the media has done a great job by transforming any sex related topic from a taboo to an acceptable conversation point, society still needs to grasp a lot about sexual orientation. Particularly, the fact that sexual orientation is a complex, largely misunderstood human characteristic resulting from a combination of biological and environmental factors that play an essential role in society s ... Talchum is a type of Korean dance performed with a mask, miming, speaking, and singing. It is loosely choreographed in the traditional sense of a dance, and organized more towards theatre. It was a farcical caricature of its contemporary era, with a sick twist of vicarious humor, from its very roots traced back to the era of ancient Three Kingdoms of Korea (37 BC 668 AD). The leading appeal of Talchum has always been the biting satire and vicarious ridicule it pointed at apostate Buddhist monks, decadent upper classmen, and incompetent shamans. It is interesting to note that the aggressive nose thumbing was towards the upper class, religious leaders, and generally figures higher in the social rung. The farcical, burlesque aspects of Talchum as our cultural heritage did not translate very well into modern culture in Korea, but the satire of authority figures did.
