Sympatric Speciation Research Paper
In order to solve that question, let s follow me and Time travel to 55 millions years ago! There
was an animal the size of a small dog called Hyracotherium.Everyone would like it to be a pet. It s
the oldest found horse ancestor, They were scampering through the forests full of plants rich in
foliage that covered North America. For more than their history they lived in there, and horses
remained small, forest browsers. Their toes, four at the front and three at the back, sprawled out at
different angles which helped them from sinking in the marshy ground.
Until one day the changing climate Conditions allowed grasslands to expand, foliage plants
disappeared. And about 20 million years ago, many new species rapidly evolved. Some but not all
of the hyracotherium become bigger and stronger. And only those who become bigger and stronger
can run faster which lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Biologist usually recognize two types of speciation allopatric and sympatric. In this case it is a
sympatric speciation. It is a species(hyracotherium )evolves into a new species without a physical
bar. The reson that let them become two separate species because one specie like eating leaf the
other one prefer grass.
Most horses evolved on the North American. During ice age they across the Bering land bridge
into what is now Siberia. From there, the Genetic drift begins , that is one of the reason why
today we have so many different kind of horses. Horses spread across Asia into Europe and south
Africa.Because after some of the horses across the Bering land bridge, the sea level is rising, the
bridge is disappeared. So it is a small group of horses stuck in Asia and Africa. Because this small
group is a random subset of the orginal population, they carries a random subset of the population

Essay about Social-Psychological Principles of the Movie...
Social Psychological Principles of the Movie Unforgiven
Florida Institute of Technology
Most movies have different social psychological principles, however most people are watching
movies to be entertained, and not to psychologically analyze them. There are many different
principles that would be applicable to the film we are discussing however, I have chosen to analyze
three scenes discussing altruism, self fulfilling prophecy, and counterfactual thinking. Please review
the following scenes and analysis from the movie Unforgiven:
Scene
* The first scene is the opening scene when a man was upstairs in the saloon/brothel with a
prostitute Delilah, who did not want to have sex with the man she was in the room with. In turn, he

Just then, Munny s shotgun enters the scene, and slowly everyone turns around to see him
standing in the doorway. Munny shoots and kills the owner, followed by several of Little Bill s
crew. He ends up shooting Little Bill but not killing him. Munny tells the remaining patrons to
leave the saloon if they don t want to get killed. While Munny is going back to his shot of
whiskey, he hears Little Bill cock his gun. Just as he is about to fire, Munny stops him by
stomping on the arm holding the gun. He stands over him, barrel down, Little Bill says I don t
deserve this, to die like this. I was building a house . Munny then says Deserve s got nothing to
do with it . Little Bill says I ll see you in hell William Munny , and Munny cocks his gun, says
Yeah , and shoots him dead.
In this scene, the social psychological principle that is relevant is self fulfilling prophecy. Self
fulfilling prophecy is the process by which one s expectations about a person eventually lead
that person to behave in way that confirm those expectations (Kassin, Markus amp; Fein, 2010).
Ned and Munny himself were the last people that thought Munny could be the whiskey drinking
cold blooded killer that he used to be. Munny got married, had kids and settled down. He was
just a pig farmer now. He hadn t even been on a horse in years. Munny had two small children
now and did his best to support them on his own. When Kid Schofield showed up at his ranch and
asked him to help him kill

Sebastian Bach Biography
Johann Sebastian Bach once said, The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the
glory of God and the refreshment of the soul. It is known that Bach is classified as a musical genius
who served the Lord, but how did his music influence later musicians? His prodigious talents
discovered during his early childhood brought him much success throughout the Baroque Era
allowing him to write over one thousand compositions. An exploration of his youth, his trials and
struggles, and writing techniques will help outsiders gain a better understanding of the magnificent
mind of J.S. Bach. On March 21, 1685, the legendary Johann Sebastian Bachwas born in Eisenach,
Germany. The Bach family was one of several traditional families of... Show more content on

Prince Leopold was the son of a Calvinist, which was the enemy of the Lutherans, so no sacred
music was written in Cöthen. However, Bach devoted much of his time to instrumental music.
He composed concertos for orchestras, dance suites, and secular sonatas for various instruments.
While traveling with the Prince on one of his extensive journeys, Bach s wife, Maria Barbra had
died. Anna Magdalena Wicke, a singer for the court, helped take care of Bach s children after their
mother passed (Wolff). She and Johann Sebastian married in December of 1721. Together, they had
thirteen children, so once more, Bach decided to look for another position that would support him

Chain Store Essay
Second, and most importantly to me, is the quality and high standards that chain stores possess.
In my personal experience, chain stores have a decent amount of staff available to assist you
with knowledge of product and great customer service. In the few local shops I ve stepped into, I
have rarely been greeted or assisted unless I managed to chase down a dour looking employee to
begrudgingly answer my questions. In Postrel s essay, she hits the nail on the head by asserting
the idea that whether a store is local or a chain, they are still quite similar in products they sell; A
hardware store was a hardware store, a pharmacy a pharmacy. (p. 347) The only true difference to
me is the quality of the customer service and the values the store possesses. In Augusta there are
few local stores I enjoy shopping in, although the ones I chose to indulge in are typically in our
downtown area, and have exceeded my expectations.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many times I have walked into a local clothing store, only to walk right back out after balking at
the ridiculously high prices for a shirt. More times than not, I have gone into an H M or

in her essay, Chains do more than bargain down prices from suppliers or divide fixed costs across
a lot of units. They rapidly spread economic discovery (p. 347) Chain stores last much longer in
Augusta than the local ones do it seems; rarely have I seen a locally store last longer than a year.
Stores like Walmart carry virtually everything a person could imagine, and all at a fixed, low cost.

Feet By Seamus Deane Summary
Feet, September 1948 from Reading in the Dark (1996) by Seamus Deane
Feet , an extract from Reading in the Dark by Seamus Deane, depicts the death of a young girl,
Una, from the perspective of her unnamed older brother. It focuses upon the narrator s observations,
of both his sister and the adults around him, as well as the emotions and reactions of the narrator.
Throughout the extract, Deane crafts an atmosphere of intimacy, and innocence, through his word
choice and use of perspective. By choosing to write from the first person perspective, Deane allows
the reader to feel more connected with the narrator s thoughts and feelings, as the emotions being
depicted are raw and unfiltered, amplifying their emotional impact upon the reader. Furthermore,
the first person narrative allows Deane to modify his diction for effect, simplifying it through his
repetition of the pronoun I to create an innocent, childlike tone. Another technique employed to
create this atmosphere is Deane s utilisation of simple adjectives such as redness , glossy , shiny ,
fright and huge when describing objects. This limited vocabulary illustrates the youth of the
narrator, extending this idea of innocence.
This idea of innocence feeds into a major theme of the extract, the narrator s inability to grapple
with the illness and impending death of his sister. Deane illustrates this effectively through the
narrator s location within the scene. He has taken refuge under the table, hidden by a

The Importance Of Technology On Communication
How does technology affect our ability to communicate as a society? Because of how quickly
social media technology is developing in our society, the topic is up for debate. Some argue that
social media isn t a valid method of communication because we can t truly connect with one
another on an individual basis, or that it fosters unhealthy socializing patterns. These arguments
may have a bit of truth to them, but for the most part, social media has done wonders for our
ability to communicate as a society. We are able to speak with people over long distances, we have
access to important information at our fingertips, and we are provided with a neutral platform of
self expression. We may diminish our ability to fully connect, but what we gain from computer
mediated communication(CMC) vastly outweighs any drawbacks.
One of the aforementioned drawbacks is how communicating through text can dampen our ability
to connect. This argument, presented by Lori Ann Wagner in her essay When Your Smartphone Is
Too Smart For Your Own Good: How Social Media Alters Relationships, is based on a scientific
study on communication by the Pew Research Center. Wagner claims that we rely too much on
technology to mediate our communication because relationships in which we cannot communicate
face to face do not allow us to fully connect or empathize with one another. This is not to say,
however, that we should not use technology to connect. While we may not be able to reach the
highest potential

Medical Billing Profession
In the medical field, there are many different career opportunities for a biller and coder to choose
from. Careers offered can be in Radiology, Doctor s Office, Dental Office, and working from
home. In this report, I will provide bits of information about each of these different medical billing
and coding career choices.
PHYSICIAN S OFFICE
Medical billers and coders who work in a physician s office, deal with outpatient services. Private
physicians have their billing services sent out to insurance companies, patients, or other government
healthcare agencies. Small offices employ a small staff that comply with government guidelines.
Clinical staff work closely together to maintain a professional atmosphere on a day to day basis.
DENTAL OFFICE... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A coder looks up codes in a CDT 5 (Current Dental Terminology 5th Edition) just as a medical
coder uses a CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) guide book. Dental coders can find
procedure codes in the HCPCS Level II book as well. The guidelines are pretty much the same for
billers and coders in the dental field versus the medical field. Every examination, procedure, and
surgery must have preauthorization from a third party payer, so the appropriate code can be
submitted.
RADIOLOGY BILLING SERVICES Coders choosing the Radiology field must be knowledgeable
with CPT codes and modifiers. Here are a few services that fall under Radiology: CAT Scans, X
Ray of different Internal Organs, and Nuclear Medicine for Limiting and Curing Internal Disorders.
It is very important to be efficient when applying the correct CPT codes. Coders and billers are
highly trained to be as accurate as possible. CONTRACT REMOTE INPATIENT CODER
In the hospital setting, there are numerous job opportunities for a biller and coder to choose from.
For instance, a contract remote inpatient coder must be able to accurately assign diagnoses and
procedure codes. To name a few, here are some of the qualifications a coder must have: one year
of inpatient coding experience, five years working in the medical field, knowledge of

Turning Table Figurative Language
In the song Turning Tables by Adele, I found 4 different types of figurative language. The first
type of figurative language I found was a hyperbole. A hyperbole is an over exaggeration of
something to make a point. The line says all that I have is on the floor . Since this is a hyperbole,
it means everything she has is not actually on the floor. Instead it could mean she s come clean
and has nothing to hide. Everything she could be keeping to herself is out in the open. The
purpose of saying this could be to show that she really has nothing to hide, but in a way that makes
it sound better in the song. The second type of figurative languageI found was an idiom. An idiom
is a phrase with multiple meanings. The example I found was I can t keep up with your turning...

The second song I used to find figurative language in is When We Were Young which is also by
Adele. The first type of figurative language I found was a simile. The simile is You re like a
dream come true. This is a simile because she is comparing a guy to a dream come true, using the
words like or as. When a dream comes true it is a really great thing so that s what she decided to
compare with this guy, who she thinks is amazing. The next type of figurative language I found
was repetition. Repetition is when something is repeated over and over again to show that it is
important or to draw attention to it. When we were young is repeated at least 10 times in the
whole song. The artist did that to make a point. This person she is looking at brings her back to
all the memories they had together when they were young. She felt that this was important and
wanted it to stand out so she repeated it over and over. The last type of figurative language I
found was anaphora. Anaphora is when the beginning of sentences start the same. The example I
found was, It was just like a movie. It was just like a

Persuasive Essay On The Mountain Goat
I have been in existence for many, many years. I predate the oldest man alive, for as long as any
living being can remember my ridged body has stood tall, for longer than even I can recall. I
have many children but none are better fit for my near vertical landscape than my favorite
creature, the mountain goat. He s stable strong and sturdy, built for the mountain, virtually a
king when to my steep surface, while the goat doesn t have sharp claws or strong jaws meant to
defend themselves from becoming prey, but they do have strategy. Strategy that is a must have
for this species to survive and thrive, strategy that without, the antagonist of this story would
almost certainly devour our horned friend. That being said we must not interfere, you as a
human and I as a mountain, humans often bring emotion into nature, believing predator and
prey could get along or come to an understanding, the childish ranting of a delusionist who took
Disney films far too serious. The only understanding these two have is that one will try to eat
and the other survive, now let us watch through the eyes of the hooved and clawed. My hoofs
are sore, I ve been climbing all day as I do most days and I m exhausted. I m not sure if I should
stop here though, it s not very far up the mountain, a predator could be around waiting for the
moment I let my guard down but can I keep going? No ill find a corner to take a quick nap to
regain a little energy, as I lay down everything slowly becomes dark, will I

Emotional Intelligence Essay
In our everyday lives, we are constantly interacting with other individuals. These interactions have
an effect on our emotions. We have to learn how to identify and deal with these emotions because
they have a direct effect on how we deal with issues at work. Individuals can work their way
through this process by becoming aware of the importance of emotional intelligence.
Emotional intelligence is sometimes referred to as EI or EQ. In their article, Colfax, Rivera Perez

Secondly, employees can train employees on the benefits of utilizing emotional intelligence as a
tool to recognize when challenging situations arise. According to Badea Pana` (2010), Leaders with
increased EQ know how to detect signs of increased anxiety, to determine the stimuli to calm the
anxiety arising in the team and to direct others towards an optimistic and enthusiastic state that
facilitates solving with the maximum yield various difficult problems (pg 72). Companies can also
use emotional intelligence to help employees who are emotionally driven. I started a new job about
three weeks ago and have a direct report who constantly acts on her emotions. She doesn t take the
time to think through a process because she gets in a panic mode and wants to make immediate
decisions. Because the decisions are emotionally based, she tends to make incorrect choices. This
employee would definitely benefit from emotionally intelligence training so that she can recognize
when she gets into an emotional state of mind. There are several purposes that emotional
intelligence serves. GM is a company which has benefitted from understanding the relationship
between emotional intelligence and its effect on the work environment. GM hired employees for its
new facility but nothing was getting accomplished because the workers were not getting along and
nothing was being accomplished.

using chemicals that enter water, food, soil, and many species, causing effects related to many
concepts in environmental science. Pesticides can get into water, one of our most precious
sources, which causes many effects. They can get into groundwater, which Carson states on page

Nikee. Apple. Covergirl. Weight Watchers. Why Do All These
Nikee. Apple. Covergirl. Weight Watchers. Why do all these seemingly unrelated names sound
familiar? That answer is simple: advertising. Advertising, a prodigious business, is a way to market
a product or service to the public consumer through TV, internet, billboards, and other outlets.
However, this over exposure to unnecessary and unwanted propaganda brings about personal
struggles, since ads scream about the absolute desire for self impeccability while simultaneously
destroying the spirits of those who listen. This industry s image of normalcy often alters one s self
image. Although many see the benefits of consumer marketing, the industry s depiction of idealized
perfection reveals that manipulating people through advertisements... Show more content on

In addition, advertising feeds from mob mentality, convincing people a product will change their
lives by deeming it fashionable or sophisticated. It bypasses logical thinking to take control of
how people view themselves and their need for esteem. People want and need to be respected
and we need to feel good about ourselves. And this is where much advertising lives, often because
we are selling products that people really do not need. L Oreal s Because you re worth it is the
perfect example (Madigan 83). For this reason, expectations of a person are manipulated to fit
the wants of the industry to sell products. These people are affected since they feel as if they have
no choice in what to wear, how their body should appear to others, and which brands they buy. It
all comes down to the need to be apart of something bigger, instead of sticking out from the crowd.
EXAMPLE
Society s deeply ingrained standards for women created by the media demonstrate the
corruption of self image as seen through ads from the 1950s that feed off of insecurities. History
demonstrates the obsession with perfection by showing how women were viewed before and
after advertising influence, Men wouldn t look at me when I was skinny... Since I ve gained 10

1960s to physically appear in a

Social Classes In The 19th Century
If the lower classes are not controlled it will be hard to maintain the social structure and prevent
internal conflict. In most societies throughout World History, a small, rich ruling class has
dominated the social and political aspects of society. The large majority of the population has
always been in the lower classes of society, and controlling these classes through fear, brute force,
economic oppression or appeasement is instrumental to maintain order. Failing to maintain control
often leads revolts, social upheavals or violent class struggles. While in most societies the upper
classes attempted to control lower classes, some were not successful. In the Roman Empire slaves

cases, those with power and wealth, failed to satisfy or control the masses of lower class people

The Effects of Homework on Education
Introduction
The debate over homework has become a controversial one throughout the years. Most of the
general population is on the uprise to stop homework, while education providers try to endure its
existence. While the general population see homework as a burden and unnecessary, the real idea
of homework creates an obvious path of success. Part of that path to success is do to the instructors
use of homework in the correct manner. While the other path, is the completion and practice a
student puts forth for the understanding of the topic at hand. We create the sense of, why
homework? Previous research has helped show a usefulness of homework throughout our education
system (e.g. Kenny, 2013; Marzano, 2007; Jorgenson, 2013; Griffith, 2013; Dejka, 2014). While
research has been conducted, there is never one concise choice that everyone can agree with. That
is why the topic of homework is of such high debate. The idea of homework, though, gives us the
opportunity to expand our learning and preparing us for what lies ahead.
Background When thinking of homework, we think of the standard definition, schoolwork that
student is required to do at home. Homework being bad is associated in every student s mind. Our
thinking involves that the teacher is just giving us busy work. In truth, the first definition is vague
compared to the true meaning of the term. A more concise description of homework includes, work
or study done in preparation for a certain event or situation.

Residential Land Development
The first stage in residential land development and possibly the most important is creating a
community vision. A community vision is strategic plan in which the developer set goals and
objectives that will address the needs of home owners and the municipality. In this stage a plan is
created that illustrates the vision of what the community will look like once construction is
complete (City of Mississauga, n.d.). This is a form of forward planning, where challenges are
addressed, opportunities are utilized, and assets are capitalized on through creating a community
vision (City of Mississauga, n.d.). Land development is dependent on land acquisition to initiate the

If a community is developed on a parcel of land that is not suitable that community will experience
a decline overtime in terms of its population and value to its respective municipality. A successful
community is one that is built in an area that provides residents with employment opportunities,
security, primary relationships and within proximity to services such as educational or health. For
example, if a community was developed in Northern Ontario where there is limited development it
would hinder the growth of that community since areas in Northern Ontario are primarily
agriculture and self sustained. Developers will conduct research to project and forecast the
outcome of a residential development in terms of sales, feasibility, project design, demand and
ensuring housing products will match the land (Guerard, 2005). Three of the main factors
developers consider prior to purchasing a parcel of land is employment trends, population data, and
supply/demand (Guerard, 2005). The research that goes behind acquiring a parcel of land for
development is important in ensuring that the community being developed is successful based on

Connotations Of A Graffiti Artist
You see it everywhere. You see on buses, on walls, on trains, everywhere. It has made many gawk
while others just don t see a reason to it. Graffiti has many connotations, some good and some bad.
It s the thrill that drives these crazy risk takers to get their names known. Seeing graffiti through the
eyes of an artist who only sees his masterpiece. Graffitihas been here longer then you think.
Though you may see destruction of property he only see his art and freedom of expression. Being
a graffiti artist is about feeling the rush of a finished masterpiece and not getting caught. Some are
the quieter type but are still well known. It has been here since the 1960s.
Despite graffiti having roots in ancient Greek and Roman culture, graffiti writing emerged in the
1960s in Philadelphia and marked a shift from the gang related, territorial graffiti that flourished in
earlier years toward the rising prominence of graffiti (Mettler 2012). Even in the 60s there was a

Essay On Odysseus Being A Hero
A hero is defined as a person who is risking their life to save others. There are many differents
types of heroes, such as Superman or Captain America. But the true heroes are the ones that were
formed during the ancient times because those people set an example for the heroes today. On the
topic of heroes Heroes, Odysseusfrom the book The Odyssey, by Homer has displayed many
reasons as to why he should be a hero and why he should not. For instance, Odysseus appears as a
very determined character that never lost hope in getting back home. On the other hand,
Odysseus is very self centered and does not listen to other people s advice, therefore this caused a
lot of deaths. Odysseus is also to be known as not loyal to his spouse Penelope because as... Show

Circe and Calypso were the women that Odysseus slept with on the islands, therefore he cheated
on his wife. On the other hand, while Odysseus was gone Penelope however did not cheat on
Odysseus, therefore she is considered to be loyal. So although Odysseus is incredibly intelligent, he
is NOT a hero.
Throughout The Odyssey, Odysseus has been leading an entire crew through multiple islands.
Now Odysseus may be the smartest man in the world, but listening to his crew members was
something that he regretted, therefore Odysseus is displayed as self centered. Odysseus has
showed many examples of not listening to advice from people, such as the advice Eurylochus
gave him to not send his men back to Circe s island to see what is on it. But of course Odysseus
does not pick up her advice and Circe turns his men into pigs, therefore Odysseus is just throwing
their lives away like dispensing bait to fish. But if Odysseus had listened to Eurylochus advice then
he would have continued his journey back home and he would still have mast of his crew
members. Odysseus also neglects the advice to not fight

Nutrition Reflection
Nutrition, was the topic for Unit 2 and I must admit, it was pretty interesting. I thought that this
unit was going to be more of taking notes, but no it was more of learning how to eat healthier,
how having a bad habit of eating bad foods too much can be belligerent to our own lives.
Exercising is a very important thing to do, at least 30 minutes 1 hour can help improve our
personal health. Also I learned that being overweight, or obese can be a cause of many deaths
around the world, and especially today, since we like bigger stuff, we want the bigger stuff. I
also learned that since not only the U.S is the one with health problems, their is more countries
with this problem, and we have to watch what we eat on a daily basis, since we can get diabetes,
cholesterol, or any type of harmful diseases. I also learned how to work betterwith a group of
people, and having to be assigned a job within the group, I know that working in a group will take
commitment, and working with others will make you make time to work with your group, so
everything can go well once you go present. I was happy to know that my group would do their
work, and that we knew what to say when the time came to present.
During this Unit 2 of Nutrition, I know how to be vigilant in what I eat on the daily basis, even
now. I think twice when I m going to eat, or when I m at a restaurant, I have to see what I m
going to order, and how much I m going to order. Since we also talked about the sugary drinks, I m

Analysis Of The Of Ragtime
Socialism in America
E3 Argumentative essay
Sonia Rani
3/17/2017
Ragtime is an interesting depiction of cultural and political change. It can be argued that the story is
not just a reflection of the events in the 20th Century but the novel reflects the events that continue
to happen until today in socialism. For instance, the novel gives a glimpse of the kind of life
experienced by many African Americans. They were victimized by the society and the persons in
authority refuse to help them. Even in the 21st Century, it cannot be denied that African Americans
are still subjected to discrimination in socialism. Throughout the stories in this novel character
represent that change and partiality. Because of the massive development, there was ... Show more

But he proves himself a good example of socialism as socialist. In Ragtime, historical elements like
E. Zapata, Emma Goldman, Coalhouse, mother s younger brother, Tateh and district attorney
reveals as a political example.
In socialism, the state also has a character of the class, but its content is opposed to that of the
bourgeois state: it becomes, for the first time in history, a state of the clear majority exploited
against the tiny exploitative or privileged minority (Rozman, 2014). Rozman (2014) explains that
Conversions to traditional socialism became more evident after World War II, with the Cold War
and later with the disintegration of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. So, as Ragtime,
because it was written in about 20th century. Since then, socialist regimes have been adopting more
flexible stances. Real socialism is developed socialism during the twentieth century. Currently, the
socialist countries are Cuba, China, North Korea, Laos, and Vietnam. Ragtime also depicts politics
between relationship, at court, as a victim, and attacking people for the sake of justice. On the other
hand, ideal socialism is that developed in the nineteenth century, the main thinker of socialism was
Karl Marx, for him this regime arose from capitalism and its means of production, having its control
played by the proletarian, as well as the state, which would later be extinguished, giving rise to
communism that corresponds to a society Without

It was a smoldering day in the summer of 1932, and yet all the boys were out on the ball field.
They were playing a doubleheader that afternoon, and it was bottom of the ninth inning when
they had to stop the game. If we had some big fancy lights like them city boys we wouldn t have

Indigenous Australian Culture
The Indigenous Australians are the Most ancient Civilization claims a DNA study
According to science, Indigenous Australians are the oldest and most ancient civilization on the
planet. The study tracks these ancient humans by using the DNA of the modern population in
Papua New Guinea and Australia and using it as a clue to tack down the oldest civilization on
Planet Earth. These analysis discovered prehistoric connection with an unknown hominin cousin as
well as a connection to the fist humans to ever cross the ocean.
This study was led by prof Eske Willerslev, at the University of Copenhagen and according to
him, this piece of discovery was the one missing in the unsolved puzzle in science and now, we

behavior doesn t show any genetic mutations. This study relied on the cave art and other advanced

people from 142 distinct populations, our genome is carrying the history of our ancestors.
Willerslev said that there hasn t been any type of evidence indicating the magic mutation which

Student s First Amendment Rights
Student s First Amendment Rights: Kindergarten Student Playing a Game If a student says, I am
going to shoot you during recess to his friends, does the school have a right to take disciplinary
actions? Is it a violation of the student s First Amendment? School officials can restrict speech
activities on any student in a school if it has been established there was harm or threats made
against others, including teachers. Although the First Amendment states freedom of expression,
school officials may punish students for expressing their personal views on school grounds. With
the case of S.G. v. Sayreville Board of Education [1], a school s right to discipline a student was
questioned by parental guardianship. The Case: S.G. v. Sayreville Board of Education (2003)
Wilson Elementary School in Sayreville, New Jersey, began disciplining a number of students for
making remarks of threat and acts of gun violence against teachers and students. Over the course of
a week (in early March 2000), three unrelated incidences occurred: one elementary student stated I
m going to shoot you towards another student, a second student threatened to shoot a teacher with
his parent s gun, and a third student threatened to put a gun in a classmate s mouth to kill him.
From the time of the incidences and suspensions given to all the students involved, the principal,
Georgia Baumann addressed every class in regards to the severity of making threatening actions
with a weapon.

Star Wars Versus Star Trek Essay
Star Wars versus Star Trek. Marvel versus DC. Gandalf versus Dumbledore. Batman versus
Superman. Almost everyone that could be asked could pick a side on these topics and their
even smaller debated parts: Jedi versus Sith, Captain Kirk versus Captain Piccard, etc. Superhero
movies are almost always a hit every year for the summer box office. Except superheroes were
not always everyone s favorite, nor socially accepted in America. This was originally subject
matter that stayed within the confines of a certain social class, the nerds and geeks. Nerd culture
rose within mainstream culture and media through a staunch refusal to be put to the side and
belittled when it did hit big. It has stayed largely and long enough so that most people will tell you
that superheroes and space pilots and all culture is nerd culture now. (Rosenberg, Alyssa)
But something that stung even worse than a towel snap was often getting labeled a nerd or a geek.
Ryan Britt opens up his series of essays Luke Skywalker Can t Read and Other Geeky Truths

The Importance Of Privacy Rights In Schools
Imagine if a person s privacy right was invaded and they couldn t do anything about it, would the
best option be to stand up for themselves or would the best option be to let it happen to them?
Privacy rights in school is a controversial topic. Some people believe that schools have the right to
do whatever they feel is right in the situation no matter how wrong it might be, but other people
believe that there has to be a good reason why the school invades students privacy. Students in
school should have privacy rights that limit what other people can do and search because if not it
causes discrimination, it causes issues with parents, and it is dangerous. Every student in America
should have privacy rights in school without the act of discrimination taking part. Discrimination is
becoming an issue in privacy rights. For example, Wisconsin lawmakers would pass a bill that will
not allow transgender students to use the bathroom of the gender that they would like to identify
themselves as (Bosman 1). This is significant because this is saying that whatever parts in there
body they were born with has to correspond to the bathroom they go to even if they identify
themselves differently. This is showing an act of discrimination because its not allowing students to
go to the bathroom that they identify themselves. This is something so little that is caused into a
big problem all because administrators are being discriminative. Additionally, a student who
identifies himself as a

Abortion And Abortion
Abortion is a serious ethical dilemma. The practice is not a recent one, there being evidence of the
procedure dating back several millennia and neither is the controversy that comes with it, with
records of laws regulating abortion appearing in texts and manuscripts from a range of civilizations
throughout the years. There has been much debate over whether abortion is a morally sound
practice, and the divisive nature of the issue has resulted in centuries of contention. Many notable
figures and organizations have made use of numerous religious, legal, and ethical standpoints to
develop positions for and against abortion. This essay will be taking a look at abortion through the
lens of two normative ethical theories: Utilitarianismand Deontology, as understood through John
Stuart Mill s Utilitarianism and Immanuel Kants Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals
respectively. Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that claims that the best action one can perform is
the one that brings about the most pleasure, happiness or utility. Utilitarianism is extremely
consequentialist in nature, focusing solely on the results of one s actions and not on intentions or
other notions of ideas such as justice or humanity. There are two main branches of utilitarianism:
act utilitarianism and rule utilitarianism. Act utilitarianism essentially states that whether an action
is right or wrong depends on its particular consequences. Rule utilitarianism states that whether an
action is right or wrong depends in part on similar actions, and how those actions promote pleasure
/happiness. Rule utilitarianism came about as a response to criticisms of act utilitarianism, which
claimed act utilitarianism was not feasible as an ethical theory in that it would be impossible to
make decisions that actually promote the greatest utility in every instance one is required to act.
Rule utilitarians believe that instead of making an individual judgement and decision based on
anticipated utility when faced with a situation, it would be better to establish general rules to follow
that, when followed, typically reap the greatest utility. Both rule utilitarianism and act utilitarianism
would presumably have different takes on whether abortion is a

Synthetic Drugs And Its Effects
Addiction, one of America s number one problems, and when it seems that we ve solved it, it
always seems to rear its ugly head back in some other form. This could be due to the fact the
internet is making a newer class of synthetic designer drugs much more available. (Mycyk, 2012)
Synthetic drugs have been a consistent and ongoing problem for our nation over the past few
years since their creation and introduction to the world. Every day, we see more and more people
hospitalized due to use of synthetic drugs, and the addictive behaviors they creates with in people.
Even with the bans that the Food and Drug Administration have passed on them, we see people

Images And Images Of Literature
Illustration is a popular aspect in literature, and can be found in all genres and forms. Although it
is sometimes more heavily associated with children s books such as illustrated stories, there are
large amounts of illustrated work that are designed specifically for an adult audience. Images
and text both convey meaning, but they can also compete with one another. Image and text can
work to guide the reader on a desired path of understanding, or they can complement each other
and allow for a greater understanding. There are a lot of examples of image and text working
together, but the medium can be very different. From statues and sculptures with text engraving,
paintings inspired by text (or vice versa), prose and verse and illustrations, this relationship is
seen regularly in the Romantic Era. This relationship between images and text can be quite
complex. Although the use of text and image complement each other and create a deeper
understanding and meaning, an image can work to suggest a way of reading a text, therefore
limiting the imagination of the reader, and insinuate a certain understanding of a text/story that the
reader/viewer may not have come to on their own. In order to understand how text and image
work in unison to create meaning, it will be beneficial to look at Lacan s Theory of Meaning .

Remembering the Lost
(Memorialize)
All over the world, there are people who achieve such great achievement, that when they die, there
is a monument of some type that might be built for them. This doesn t have to be just when a
person of great ability to do something dies, but people might also have memorials when there is
an extreme sacrifice that was made. This might be because of hard times that were going on, and
the people who make the monument have to determine the size they want it and what materials they
are going to use, etc. There are many different procedures a person might have to go through in
order to determine what they want to do to remember somebody or a certain time period that is
now gone. Three factors a group should consider in memorializing a person or event are why it
would be important to remember, where it will be located, and what will come of doing so. First
of all, it is very important to consider why the person or time period is an important thing to
remember. Before building something like this, people need to realize that there will be many
people who see the monument and wonder what the meaning of it is. When somebody decides to
build one, they need to ask themselves what the importance is. For example, if something really

Racist Mascots Research Paper
Native Americans are often offended by racist nicknames, logos, and stereotypes in sports. The
Washington Redskins and many other teams are facing this. this makes teams look ignorant.
Mascots imply that all Natives have to be a dark brown color, have big noses, and long wavy
black hair. Examples of these stereotypical mascots are the Washington Redskins, FSU, Cherokee
Braves, and any other school with a racist mascot. Native Americans find that when we use their
people as mascots we are making them look like savages. Native Americans are offended by racist
nicknames, logos, and stereotypes in sports. Using Native American images and names in
professional, collegiate, and high school sports teams does reinforce and perpetuate stereotypes.

Family Practitioner Personal Statement
As I stepped off the plane for the first time at Maurice Bishop International Airport on the small
island of Grenada I had no idea where the next four years would take me. I was just a young man
from a small town in rural Iowa who had never lived outside of the United States, setting out on an
adventure to pursue a degree in medicine. While working at a number of local healthfairs on the
island, I was able to spend a lot of time interacting with members of the community discussing their
personal struggles with health. For many of my patients it was a poor understanding of how to
maintain a healthy lifestyle or a lack of resources, while others were afraid of the stigma associated
with disease and mental health. Though my time in Grenada was short, it was interactions such as
these that continue to motivate me to focus on primary care, preventative medicine, and decreasing
disparities in healthcare.
Entering my clinical years brought along with it an entirely new set of challenges, but I was
pleasantly surprised to find my niche while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Formerly a student athlete, I am well accustomed to working as a member of a team and
understanding that each individual has an important role to play when working towards a
common goal. My background in public health has helped me discern that an individual s health
involves much more than their genetic and physiologic profile. Moreover, it has given me the
skills necessary to reach not only my patients, but also the community as a whole. Furthermore, as
a graduate of St. George s University I ve had the unique privilege to work alongside students and
faculty from over 140 countries around the world. This experience has allowed me to cultivate a
much broader worldview, and to develop the skills necessary to practice medicine in the ever
diversifying communities of

The Discovery of Radioactivity and its Effects Essay
During the 1800 s, the late 1800 s, scientist discovered radioactivity. The study of radio activity
became a phenomenon amongst scientist during this time period. With the discovery of new
elements polonium and radium by Marie and Pierre Curie, the use of radioactivity to probe the
center of an atom, provided the instructions of a nuclear weaponthat will kill innocent Japanese,
leaving there face disfigured, and permanently changed. The majority of people know of the effect
of radioactivitybut not how it was discovered and its close relation to physics.
The discovery of radioactivity can also be referred to the dawn of the nuclear age. Many scientist,
were interested in satisfying their curiosity and began to explore nature and the ... Show more

Just like the other scientist before him, he performed experiments to satisfy his curiosity about
radioactivity. Rutherford first, bombarded gold foil in particles from a radioactive source.
Rutherford saw that some of the particles seeming through the gold foil. Rutherford concluded
that matter was made up of empty space, but there was also a small dense portion of matter that
deflected the particles. He defined this dense area as being a nucleus. Through this finding, we
were able to find discoveries that lead to the discovery of radioactivity. Some people argue that
radioactivity should not be used at all mainly because it harms people and fatal, while others say
that it should be used for weapons in a war. From the two atomic bombs dropped on Japan in
1945 the effect of radioactivity waves are clear. The effects of radioactivity are not always
through a nuclear bomb. Radioactive waves are transmitted through the sun and cosmic
radiation. This simply means that people at higher elevations such as the Rocky Mountains and
the Colorado mountains are more expose to radioactive waves compared to people that live on
or at sea level. Radioactive waves are also transmitted through some fabricated technology, soil,
and rocks. The majority of people pose the question why do doctors or nurses where aprons when
giving an x ray. This is to protect them from radioactive waves. Nurses give countless numbers of
x rays a day. While you

  • 2. Sympatric Speciation Research Paper In order to solve that question, let s follow me and Time travel to 55 millions years ago! There was an animal the size of a small dog called Hyracotherium.Everyone would like it to be a pet. It s the oldest found horse ancestor, They were scampering through the forests full of plants rich in foliage that covered North America. For more than their history they lived in there, and horses remained small, forest browsers. Their toes, four at the front and three at the back, sprawled out at different angles which helped them from sinking in the marshy ground. Until one day the changing climate Conditions allowed grasslands to expand, foliage plants disappeared. And about 20 million years ago, many new species rapidly evolved. Some but not all of the hyracotherium become bigger and stronger. And only those who become bigger and stronger can run faster which lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a species(hyracotherium )evolves into a new species without a physical bar. The reson that let them become two separate species because one specie like eating leaf the other one prefer grass. Most horses evolved on the North American. During ice age they across the Bering land bridge into what is now Siberia. From there, the Genetic drift begins , that is one of the reason why today we have so many different kind of horses. Horses spread across Asia into Europe and south Africa.Because after some of the horses across the Bering land bridge, the sea level is rising, the bridge is disappeared. So it is a small group of horses stuck in Asia and Africa. Because this small group is a random subset of the orginal population, they carries a random subset of the population genes. • 4. Essay about Social-Psychological Principles of the Movie... Social Psychological Principles of the Movie Unforgiven Florida Institute of Technology Most movies have different social psychological principles, however most people are watching movies to be entertained, and not to psychologically analyze them. There are many different principles that would be applicable to the film we are discussing however, I have chosen to analyze three scenes discussing altruism, self fulfilling prophecy, and counterfactual thinking. Please review the following scenes and analysis from the movie Unforgiven: Scene * The first scene is the opening scene when a man was upstairs in the saloon/brothel with a prostitute Delilah, who did not want to have sex with the man she was in the room with. In turn, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just then, Munny s shotgun enters the scene, and slowly everyone turns around to see him standing in the doorway. Munny shoots and kills the owner, followed by several of Little Bill s crew. He ends up shooting Little Bill but not killing him. Munny tells the remaining patrons to leave the saloon if they don t want to get killed. While Munny is going back to his shot of whiskey, he hears Little Bill cock his gun. Just as he is about to fire, Munny stops him by stomping on the arm holding the gun. He stands over him, barrel down, Little Bill says I don t deserve this, to die like this. I was building a house . Munny then says Deserve s got nothing to do with it . Little Bill says I ll see you in hell William Munny , and Munny cocks his gun, says Yeah , and shoots him dead. In this scene, the social psychological principle that is relevant is self fulfilling prophecy. Self fulfilling prophecy is the process by which one s expectations about a person eventually lead that person to behave in way that confirm those expectations (Kassin, Markus amp; Fein, 2010). It is known that Bach is classified as a musical genius who served the Lord, but how did his music influence later musicians? His prodigious talents discovered during his early childhood brought him much success throughout the Baroque Era allowing him to write over one thousand compositions. An exploration of his youth, his trials and struggles, and writing techniques will help outsiders gain a better understanding of the magnificent mind of J.S. Bach. In my personal experience, chain stores have a decent amount of staff available to assist you with knowledge of product and great customer service. In the few local shops I ve stepped into, I have rarely been greeted or assisted unless I managed to chase down a dour looking employee to begrudgingly answer my questions. In Postrel s essay, she hits the nail on the head by asserting the idea that whether a store is local or a chain, they are still quite similar in products they sell; A hardware store was a hardware store, a pharmacy a pharmacy. • 7. Feet By Seamus Deane Summary Feet, September 1948 from Reading in the Dark (1996) by Seamus Deane Feet , an extract from Reading in the Dark by Seamus Deane, depicts the death of a young girl, Una, from the perspective of her unnamed older brother. It focuses upon the narrator s observations, of both his sister and the adults around him, as well as the emotions and reactions of the narrator. Throughout the extract, Deane crafts an atmosphere of intimacy, and innocence, through his word choice and use of perspective. By choosing to write from the first person perspective, Deane allows the reader to feel more connected with the narrator s thoughts and feelings, as the emotions being depicted are raw and unfiltered, amplifying their emotional impact upon the reader. Furthermore, the first person narrative allows Deane to modify his diction for effect, simplifying it through his repetition of the pronoun I to create an innocent, childlike tone. Another technique employed to create this atmosphere is Deane s utilisation of simple adjectives such as redness , glossy , shiny , fright and huge when describing objects. This limited vocabulary illustrates the youth of the narrator, extending this idea of innocence. This idea of innocence feeds into a major theme of the extract, the narrator s inability to grapple with the illness and impending death of his sister. Deane illustrates this effectively through the narrator s location within the scene. He has taken refuge under the table, hidden by a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Importance Of Technology On Communication How does technology affect our ability to communicate as a society? Because of how quickly social media technology is developing in our society, the topic is up for debate. Some argue that social media isn t a valid method of communication because we can t truly connect with one another on an individual basis, or that it fosters unhealthy socializing patterns. These arguments may have a bit of truth to them, but for the most part, social media has done wonders for our ability to communicate as a society. We are able to speak with people over long distances, we have access to important information at our fingertips, and we are provided with a neutral platform of self expression. We may diminish our ability to fully connect, but what we gain from computer mediated communication(CMC) vastly outweighs any drawbacks. One of the aforementioned drawbacks is how communicating through text can dampen our ability to connect. This argument, presented by Lori Ann Wagner in her essay When Your Smartphone Is Too Smart For Your Own Good: How Social Media Alters Relationships, is based on a scientific study on communication by the Pew Research Center. Wagner claims that we rely too much on technology to mediate our communication because relationships in which we cannot communicate face to face do not allow us to fully connect or empathize with one another. This is not to say, however, that we should not use technology to connect. While we may not be able to reach the highest potential ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That answer is simple: advertising. Advertising, a prodigious business, is a way to market a product or service to the public consumer through TV, internet, billboards, and other outlets. However, this over exposure to unnecessary and unwanted propaganda brings about personal struggles, since ads scream about the absolute desire for self impeccability while simultaneously destroying the spirits of those who listen. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, advertising feeds from mob mentality, convincing people a product will change their lives by deeming it fashionable or sophisticated. It bypasses logical thinking to take control of how people view themselves and their need for esteem. People want and need to be respected and we need to feel good about ourselves. And this is where much advertising lives, often because we are selling products that people really do not need. L Oreal s Because you re worth it is the perfect example (Madigan 83). For this reason, expectations of a person are manipulated to fit the wants of the industry to sell products. These people are affected since they feel as if they have no choice in what to wear, how their body should appear to others, and which brands they buy. It all comes down to the need to be apart of something bigger, instead of sticking out from the crowd. In socialism, the state also has a character of the class, but its content is opposed to that of the bourgeois state: it becomes, for the first time in history, a state of the clear majority exploited against the tiny exploitative or privileged minority (Rozman, 2014). Rozman (2014) explains that Conversions to traditional socialism became more evident after World War II, with the Cold War and later with the disintegration of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. They made their way to the kitchen where they knew dinner would be waiting for them. Jimmy and Noah sat down at the table and instantly started shoving food in their mouths, practically inhaling it. Is it a violation of the student s First Amendment? School officials can restrict speech activities on any student in a school if it has been established there was harm or threats made against others, including teachers. Although the First Amendment states freedom of expression, school officials may punish students for expressing their personal views on school grounds. With the case of S.G. v. Except superheroes were not always everyone s favorite, nor socially accepted in America. This was originally subject matter that stayed within the confines of a certain social class, the nerds and geeks. Nerd culture rose within mainstream culture and media through a staunch refusal to be put to the side and belittled when it did hit big. It has stayed largely and long enough so that most people will tell you that superheroes and space pilots and all culture is nerd culture now. The Importance Of Privacy Rights In Schools Imagine if a person s privacy right was invaded and they couldn t do anything about it, would the best option be to stand up for themselves or would the best option be to let it happen to them? Privacy rights in school is a controversial topic. Some people believe that schools have the right to do whatever they feel is right in the situation no matter how wrong it might be, but other people believe that there has to be a good reason why the school invades students privacy. Students in school should have privacy rights that limit what other people can do and search because if not it causes discrimination, it causes issues with parents, and it is dangerous. Every student in America should have privacy rights in school without the act of discrimination taking part. Discrimination is becoming an issue in privacy rights. For example, Wisconsin lawmakers would pass a bill that will not allow transgender students to use the bathroom of the gender that they would like to identify themselves as (Bosman 1). This is significant because this is saying that whatever parts in there body they were born with has to correspond to the bathroom they go to even if they identify themselves differently. This is showing an act of discrimination because its not allowing students to go to the bathroom that they identify themselves. This is something so little that is caused into a big problem all because administrators are being discriminative. Additionally, a student who identifies himself as a ... The practice is not a recent one, there being evidence of the procedure dating back several millennia and neither is the controversy that comes with it, with records of laws regulating abortion appearing in texts and manuscripts from a range of civilizations throughout the years. There has been much debate over whether abortion is a morally sound practice, and the divisive nature of the issue has resulted in centuries of contention. Many notable figures and organizations have made use of numerous religious, legal, and ethical standpoints to develop positions for and against abortion. This essay will be taking a look at abortion through the lens of two normative ethical theories: Utilitarianismand Deontology, as understood through John Stuart Mill s Utilitarianism and Immanuel Kants Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals respectively. Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that claims that the best action one can perform is the one that brings about the most pleasure, happiness or utility. Utilitarianism is extremely consequentialist in nature, focusing solely on the results of one s actions and not on intentions or other notions of ideas such as justice or humanity. There are two main branches of utilitarianism: act utilitarianism and rule utilitarianism. Act utilitarianism essentially states that whether an action is right or wrong depends on its particular consequences. Rule utilitarianism states that whether an action is right or wrong depends in part on similar actions, and how those actions promote pleasure /happiness. Rule utilitarianism came about as a response to criticisms of act utilitarianism, which claimed act utilitarianism was not feasible as an ethical theory in that it would be impossible to make decisions that actually promote the greatest utility in every instance one is required to act. Rule utilitarians believe that instead of making an individual judgement and decision based on anticipated utility when faced with a situation, it would be better to establish general rules to follow that, when followed, typically reap the greatest utility. Both rule utilitarianism and act utilitarianism would presumably have different takes on whether abortion is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Images And Images Of Literature Illustration is a popular aspect in literature, and can be found in all genres and forms. Although it is sometimes more heavily associated with children s books such as illustrated stories, there are large amounts of illustrated work that are designed specifically for an adult audience. Images and text both convey meaning, but they can also compete with one another. Image and text can work to guide the reader on a desired path of understanding, or they can complement each other and allow for a greater understanding. There are a lot of examples of image and text working together, but the medium can be very different. From statues and sculptures with text engraving, paintings inspired by text (or vice versa), prose and verse and illustrations, this relationship is seen regularly in the Romantic Era. This relationship between images and text can be quite complex. Although the use of text and image complement each other and create a deeper understanding and meaning, an image can work to suggest a way of reading a text, therefore limiting the imagination of the reader, and insinuate a certain understanding of a text/story that the reader/viewer may not have come to on their own. In order to understand how text and image work in unison to create meaning, it will be beneficial to look at Lacan s Theory of Meaning . This doesn t have to be just when a person of great ability to do something dies, but people might also have memorials when there is an extreme sacrifice that was made.
