Crafting an essay on the topic of "Spm English Essay" can be a challenging endeavor, requiring
a delicate balance of linguistic proficiency, critical thinking, and creativity. The complexity arises

Theme Of Siegfried Sassoon
The name of Siegfried Sassoon is written down in the Poets Corner in Westminster
Abbey among the greatest authors of the wartime to pay homage to his contribution
to the Universal Literature. Despite of the fact that he is sharing the eternity with
other outstanding authors of the period, his sanity was indeed questioned. When
WWI started he was willing to participate in it, nonetheless, as he became more
aware of the reality of the battlefield, his poetryevolved towards an increasingly
realistic and disenchanted one. As a result of this, he created poems full of levity that
were utterly satirical. His verses reflected the bitterness of his emotions and his rage.
Moreover, the statement he wrote concerning the war triggered the government s...

As Elaene Showalter defends in her book The Female Malady, during World War I
there existed a mass protest against politicians, generals and psychiatrists and when
dismissing shell shock patients as cowards doctors were, in fact, suggesting
effeminacy and homosexuality. However, this was not the case of Siegfried Sassoon
as he was nicknamed as Mad Jack due to his reckless courage in the battlefield.
Once he published A Soldier s Declaration , his friend, Robert Graves, interpreted
this act as a self destructive and futile gesture since Graves foresaw the dangerous
consequences of this declaration. He helped him by testifying on his behalf, not
only to save his life, since if considered mentally ill, he would not be court
martialed, but also because in doing so he would not allow his pacifistic poetry

Pride and Prejudice: Character Foil
In order for a novel or other literary work to become popular for its time and for an
author s audience to stay engaged and interested in the plot, there must include some
sort of conflict or some sort of contrast that creates that conflict. This conflict attracts
the reader to the novel, wanting to read more. This juxtaposition is achieved through
a foil. Foil characters are characters that directly contrast the traits or qualities of
another character. Foil characters usually are the main character, the protagonist
shows traits that are opposite and emphasize the plot of the story, or even another
character even further. A foil, in the novel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bennet characters when Mrs. Bennet pressures Elizabeth to marry her cousin, Mr.
Collins almost immediately after she learns about Elizabeth s rejection of his
proposal. No matter how much Mrs. Bennet talked to Elizabeth again and again;
coaxed and threatened her by turns (Austen 76 77), Elizabeth would not budge:
Though her manner varied, however, her determination never did (Austen 77). This
phrase shows the characterization of the scene. Mrs. Bennet s faith and
determination in her beliefs show the true the meaning of marriage in her eyes.
Elizabeth shows the traits of a true, independent character because she could have,
like her friend Charlotte Lucas, buckled under the pressure that outside forces were
putting on her, but she believed in herself and how she was feeling, instead of others
influence on her decisions. Once again, Mr. Collins character indirectly brings out the
strengths in Elizabeth Bennet personality. This serves Austen s purpose because
Elizabeth goes against the social norms of the Regency Era and the opposite of what
a woman was expected to be liked. Although Jane Austenstill creates Elizabeth to be
a very likable character, Austen exemplifies the traits of herself through Elizabeth s
Hamlet Movie Vs Movie Essay
Hamlet, the play, was over a young man who had gone to craze due to betrayal. In
Hamlet it was not easy to tell if he was crazy or not, it was always up for
discussion. Hamlet was demeaned by Claudius, as he told him to stop mourning his
father s death and to accept him as his new father. Claudius calls Hamlets a girl by
saying tis unmanly grief. (Act I, Sc II, line 98) Basically stating that in the play every
action that happen seemed a little more harsh than it did turn the film. While reading
Hamletyou can feel his emotion more than see it, so anything that he was going
through you can think through the same situation.
At the beginning of the movie it was very much only toward the ghost. The main
focus was more bringing an audience closer to be able to watch a film for
entertainment. Continuing the movie there were many parts that seem to have been
cut off that was very important. Scenes would include less emotion, they would
include more drama to make everything seem like a lot is going on. Watching the
film it seemed more Gothic, dark Ama obviously it was more modern entire rather
than going with the time period. I personally did not like the modern tweak to the
film it just made things seem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many places where you would feel lost if you hadn t read the play. There
are also too many lines being cut off, personally i feel that you if you start with a
line finish it all. There is no real time frame in this Hamlet movie. since everyone
was in more modern clothing, yet they spoke in Shakespearean language. Although
the choosing of the actors was accurate and taken into consideration, the movie was
not good. The last scene that was supposed to include fortinbras did not exist. that
left readers with anticipation of seeing those scenes go down and it did not. the
disappointment was real, and being a very big scene in the play it should have been

Abstract
This paper will explore the psychological benefits that video games have on
individuals based on research conducted online (Internet) and offline (non Internet) .
The research will focus mainly on cognitive , motivational , emotional and social
benefits that individuals gain by playing video games. Furthermore it will compare
gamers with those that don t play video games or normal teaching methods and what
helps better retain the skills gained. The research conducted is based on console
gaming (xbox, playstation, wii) and pc. The research will focus on first person
shooters, role playing, racing games.
Psychological Benefits of Video Games While many studies of video games and
the negatives it has on people always seem to be front page news. The media never
seems to state the benefits that video games can have. Can video games actually
have a benefit? Can sitting in place for hours playing a video game really teach an
individual something useful that they can use in their life? To better understand this
first one must understand what video Games are. Video games differ from other
media (books, movies, television etc.) by the fact that video games are designed to
keep people engaged. A person cannot passively surrender from a games storyline.
The games were designed for the player to engage with their system and for the
system to engage with the

How Heaney Moldes his Roots Through Farming and Forging
Seamus Heaney s poems Digging and The Forge demonstrate how he perceives his
purpose as a writer in comparison to farming and blacksmithing. His first poem,
Digging was Heaney s debut to the world of poetry. He had begun to write poetry
in 1962, but Digging was the first poem he officially published. This poem
highlights Heaney s relationship with his father and grandfather, contrasting his
profession from theirs. He describes them as hard working farmers, which he is not
and could never be due to his love of writing. The word digging itself parallels major
themes in the poem regarding family tradition, memories, and the acceptance of his
vocation. This poem shows Heaney s struggle with recognizing if his identity as a
poet is honorable and how that reflects on his family history. Whereas The Forgeis
published in Seamus Heaney s second volume of poetry. Similar to Digging , The
Forge explores Heaney s admiration for blue collar workers. Through his writing,
Heaney describes a local blacksmith s view of progression, and how once the forge
was an essential part of Irish rural life. In parallel to Digging , the blacksmith
recollects how once farmers explicitly used the services of the blacksmith to repair
and make ploughs and other farm instruments while also forging shoes for their
horses. These two poems are reflections of Heaney s role as a poet and how he
conceives his profession in relation to other
The Spanish Empire, And The Empire Of The Portuguese
Empire
Portugal: In existence for nearly six centuries, the Portuguese Empire was one of
the largest and longest lived empires in the world and the first colonial empire of
the Renaissance. Portugal s colonization style followed two basic patterns: in Asia,
the Portuguese conquered cities, then monopolize trade; whereas in Africa and the
Americas, they occupied expansive territories where European political organization
was imposed on existing indigenous societies. The royal crown withheld strict
control of justice, fortified by the authority of royal agents; in this system natives
were rarely if ever given any mechanism for self governance in their own lands.
Hence, the crown created colonial institutions endowed with vague jurisdictions
intended to act as a check and balance system for each other. Although this strategy
worked to solidify Portuguese presence and establish dominance across the globe,
the recurring approvals and consultations required by the monarchical administrative
procedure hindered Portuguese efficiency and rule for its far reaching empire,
especially for immediate concerns like military threats. Instead of a strong empire
with precise and defined areas of responsibility, the superpower worked through a
precarious arrangement of vertical and horizontal surveillance among officials as a
means of defending their supreme authority. This framework eventually led to a
rather weak centralized empire in which the intermediate levels of authority oversaw

Casey At Bat Compare And Contrast
In the poem Casey at Bat and story David and Goliath, a comparison of David and
Casey shows differences and similarities. One similarity between Casey and David
is that they are both leaders. In the poem Casey at Bat it says, There was ease in

and a smile on Casey s face. And when, responding to the cheers, he lightly doffed
his hat, No stranger in the crowd could doubt twas Casey at the bat. Casey s team was

contributions to psychology, it has influenced the understanding and practices of the

It is important that the therapist conduct sessions in a way where they are showing
themselves in the session without pretense. This allows a growth promoting climate
with the psychoanalysis of the client s behavior. An important factor for a successful
person centered therapy allows clients the freedom to develop and control their own
lives, rather than being tied to their past (Goodwin, 2008). This method also denotes
and consists of psychotherapy theory and humanistic therapy where the concentration
is on the present rather than the past, and the humanistic analyst tends to underlines

patients and clients converse their feelings vocally and the therapist provide analyses.
In a humanistic therapy approach or a person centered psychoanalysis, the therapist s
center of attention is on the conscious of the client to show their awareness. In this
environment, such as the therapist displays realism, acceptance and kindness, as an
effort in helping the client to openly convey their feelings. These types of sessions
allows for information to flow between the client and the therapist in a humanistic
genuineness, realness, professional and no façade way. The idea is for the client to

counsellor who may be representing the Labour, Conservative or Liberal Democrats
party . The aim of my investigation is to find out whether the different levels of
qualification and household income throughout Birmingham has any effect on the
party counsellor chosen for that specific ward. I will be investigating; what factors
have an effect on levels of qualification and income and how these levels of income
and qualification influence the overall political status of a Birmingham ward.
Research Question:
To what extent does the relationship between levels of qualification and income,

Non Traditional Families In The 1800s
Families in History
There are many ways that the idea of the traditional family has changed over the past
several centuries. For instance prior to the 19th century family was often considered
anyone who lived within a household whether related by blood or not. This included
employees and extended family. Per Coontz (2010) The biological family was less
sacrosanct, and less sentimentalized, than it would become in the nineteenth century.
(p. 35) In society at the time it was socially unacceptable to be separate or not
included as part of a family household. Over time, the term family came to
encompass the immediate family, a husband, wife and their children. During the late
1800 s through the mid 1900 s there were emerging ideas of family that were not
widely accepted as traditional or normal, these included single parent homes with
only a Mom or Dad, Stepfamilies and same sex couple and parent households. Today,
American ideas of what constitutes a family have drastically expanded to include

of this as it benefited the entire family. Slavery having rendered black men and

black and white women activists in the early 20th century. The amount of black
married women activists was double that of white women activists A reason for
this disparity, being that white women were more likely to buy into the notion that
a woman s place was in the home and many believed this to be a more ideal situation.
This traditional marriage has been described as an exchange of a male s economic
resources for a female s social and domestic services (Franklin, 2010, p.
The Benefits Of Video Games
The Benefits of Videogames
Over the years there has been a huge controversy over video games; the number one
being the effect on the development of children, and this seems to be used a lot as a
way to stigmatize gaming as something entirely destructive. In general, there are
many misconceptions about video games. The Entertainment Software Association
estimates that around 60% of Americans, around 145 million people in all, currently
play some type of video game. Despite the common view of video games as being

Dickens creates a cold hearted, miserly character and shows how he changes his
attitude and relationships with other people, his language and behavior. In stave one,
dickens gives us a description of Scrooge which emphasizes his harsh, unforgiving
personality, which is mirrored in his physical features: The cold within him froze his
old features, nipped his pointed nose, shriveled his cheek, stiffened his gait; made his
eyes red, his thin lips blue.
Dickens lists adjectives such as, grasping and clutching , which conjure up a
negative image of Scrooge in your mind. From the beginning, we are told he is an
unpleasant character. This is also reflected in his name, which is used as an adjective
today to describe someone who is unpleasant and stingy. Dickens uses similes,
adjectives and metaphors to describe how unpleasant Ebenezer Scrooge. A covetous
old sinner! Hard as a steel and sharp as a flint, from which no steel had ever struck
out a generous fire. No warmth could warm, no wintry weather chill him . Dickens
uses these appropriate languages helps to give the reader a very negative attitude
towards scrooge, but also these words portray self image of Scrooge as an evil, not
friendly man. Dickens also writes about characters of the story and how there
behavior toward Scrooge is. Nobody ever stopped him in the street to say, with
gladsome looks, My dear Scrooge, how are you? When will you come to see me? No

Essay Social Contract
The Social Contract
Rousseau s principal aim in writing The Social Contract is to determine how
freedom may be possible in civil society, and we might do well to pause briefly and
understand what he means by quot;freedom. quot; In the state of nature we enjoy
the physical freedom of having no restraints on our behavior. By entering into the
social contract, we place restraints on our behavior, which make it possible to live
in a community. By giving up our physical freedom, however, we gain the civil

We might react to these arguments with serious reservations, and indeed, Rousseau
has been accused of endorsing totalitarianism. We live in an age where individual
rights are considered vitally important, and it is insulting to think that we are just
small parts of a greater whole. Rather than make freedom possible, it would seem to
us that Rousseau s system revokes freedom.
Rousseau would not take these charges lying down, however. Looking at us in the
new millennium, he might suggest that we are not free at all. On the whole, we may
lack any kind of personal agency or initiative. We often have difficulty interacting
with one another in any meaningful way, and it could be argued that our decisions
and behavior are largely dictated to us by a consumer culture that discourages
individual thought.
His system, he might claim, only seems unattractive to us because we have totally
lost the community spirit that makes people want to be together. Citizens in his ideal
republic are not forced into a community: they agree to
Kurt Cobain s Egoistic Suicide
The person I chose for my topic is Kurt Cobain, not only because he was famous,
but also because I was surprised that I didn t know much of him until I researched
his name. Kurt Cobain died of an egoistic suicide, which by definition means his
suicide occurred because he was under extreme individualism, which in other words
means low social integration. The people who commit egoistic suicide are not
strongly supported by their loved one. Whatever it was Cobain didn t really have
the same enthusiasm he once did. From what I understood by doing my research, I
found out that he was constantly haunted by his thoughts. He was always just
spacing out, even when they were partying it up. He had very low self esteem and
self identifying factors that led him to get cling on hero personalities and led him to
the same self destructing ways.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Impact Of Environmental Issues On The Environment
Throughout history, the environment around our society has played a large role and
has had serious implication on the very existence of humans. From war, peace
migration, population growth, disease, along with the rise and fall of many
civilizations mother nature has been right along for the ride through the prosperity
and as well as the hardship. The environmental problems that occur have been
happening due to natural occurrences, but recently since the age of the Industrial
Revolution human activity has become a large factor in the increased problems that
are present, and the implications of our consequences are hurting not only the
environmentbut also us in turn. The major environmental issues cause by humans are
loss in biodiversity, deforestation, ocean pollution, water scarcity and climate change.
The different environmental issues that are brought up with human activity are
intense and sometimes the effects are not seen immediately but they do have an
effect on the surrounding environment. First, I will elaborate one the different
issues and explain what they include. The first being Biodiversity, which is known
as the The variety of life, typically expressed in terms of species richness. (Bolen
2010). This includes both biotic and abiotic factors in the natural world that thrive.
The second issue present is that of deforestation which is the action of clearing an
area of trees, which could range anywhere from a small piece of land to a large area.

Diageo Case Study
Born in 1997, Diageo was a product of merger between Guinness and Grand
Metropolitan. Guinness and Grand Metropolitan were also products of mergers.
Guinness acquired Distillers in 1986 and Grand Metropolitan had expanded from its
roots as a hotel business into spirits, Pillsbury, Burger King and various pubs. After
the merger, Diageos new CEO, John McGrath and executive teams had a vision to
create a more focused strategy, concentrating on their core strengths, and integrate the
company fully into the global spirits organization, and sold off all non beverage
conglomerates. The purpose of all the vicissitudes was to position the company to
meet their vision of becoming the world s leading premium Drinks Company. During
the post merger integration, Mr. McGrath concentrated on the core competencies and
the ability to build a premium consumer brand, leveraging it on a global basis. The
strategy they created was to implement company wide the Diageo way of brand
building . This way of working provided a guide line on conducting business based
on perceptions of its stakeholders and customers needs. From there, Diageo developed
an inimitable business structure in which country operations were organized
leveraging its core competencies and competitive advantages. Recently, in 2015
Diageo took another step towards focusing on its core business and competencies,
and sold off their wine business. In the alcohol industry wine is a very competitive
business, and within
Similarities Between Hannah Dustan And Mary Rowlandson
There are many great stories to be told from American Literature up to 1890.
Hannah Dustan and Mary Rowlandson are both key figures when it comes to such
American Literature. Both of these women shared their own personal experiences
of being held captive. They both have a lot in common as they both were captured
by Native Americans; both were puritans and both lost members of their family.
While Rowlandson chose to write her story in a first person narrative, Dustan s story
was told in the words of Cotton Mather based on what he had heard from Dustan
herself. This could also be interpreted that Mather could have changed around bits of
Dustan s story. Dustan and Rowlandson were both captured by Native Americans.

She was captured on the 10th of February, 1675 and was held captive for 11 weeks
before she was ransomed. Rowlandson was not alone whilst held captive. She was
joined by her three children. Her youngest however did not survive the captivity.
Psalms and the bible played a massive part in Rowlandson s narrative. The more
you read, the more frequently psalms quoted from the bible seem to be used.
Approximately one third of the Biblical references that pervade Rowlandson s
narrative of her captivity (Henwood, 169). It is clearly evident that religion plays a
massive part of her life and she turns to her religion throughout her captivity. She
uses the psalms as a context for her misery, spiritual assurance, and emotional
release (Henwood, 170). Some have stated that the use of all the psalms in
Rowlandson s narrative has prevented her from telling some of the story.
Derounian and others have portrayed the Biblical text as inhibiting Rowlandson s
ability to tell her own tale (Henwood, 170). Although Henwood herself disagreed
with this theory stating, the sacred Psalms render publicly legitimate, even
righteous, the captive s very human frustration and rage and thus enable her, as
well as the communal vision she is a part of, to survive (170). The psalms become
such a massive part of the narrative it is easy to see how some people find them to
overshadow the story. Rowlandson however seemed to be such a religious

Golden Age Detective Fiction Essay
The anxieties and afflictions of a tragic decade are met with a reactionary response
in Golden Age detective fiction. It works as a medium to restore order to a
threatened social calm. With its narrative integrity and attempt to establish a
universal order governed by reason, Golden Age Detective Fiction functions a
medium of refuge from modernism. The detective novel provides a mode of order
and stability which is otherwise threatened in the world. The paradigm shift following
the aftermath of the Second World War displaces detective fictionfrom its detachment

Unlike the consulting detective of the Golden Age who is more focussed on the
mystery that crime brings, Morse cares about bringing the murderer to justice. And
unlike the incompetent police detective whose incompetence is the reason an
amateur is consulted, Morse is actually competent and efficient in his job. The
multiple chapters and insights employed by Dexter in the novel allow the reader
to escape the tedious police procedure and dive more into the politics at play which
is directly related to the people involved in the case. But the reader is also
informed of Morse s digressions and progress. He tails his suspects, pursues
women, falls off ladders, gets drunk, his car is broken and he gets it repaired;
Morse may not be characterised as friendly but he is human and Dexter makes sure
that the reader catches this as the story progresses. He is unlike the eccentric and

humanly errors. But among all of Morse s humanly qualities and behaviour, there
also lies a brilliant mind not unlike the Golden Age detective. Christopher Bird says

Essay on Bullying in Schools
Cowardice asks the question: is it safe?
Expediency asks the question: is it politic?
Vanity asks the question: is it popular?
But conscience asks the question: is it right?
And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic,
nor popular but one must take it because it is right.

Long term effects of bullying
п‚· Bullying has been shown to have severe and sometimes lasting effects, going on
to shape both the bullies and the victims adult personalities.
п‚· 9 to 12 year old victims of bullying are prone to headaches, sleeping issues,

Historically, there has been three campaigns or regimes recognized as a Reich or in
English terms, an empire. You have the first Reich which was the Medieval Holy
Roman Empire, which lasted up until 1806. Then you have second Reich better
known as the German Empire, spanning a time period of 1871 1918. And lastly, you
have the third Reich, or what we commonly call Nazi Germany. Lasting a period of
1933 1945. Also known as World War 2.
In 1940, US allies, more specifically the Royal Air Force, conducted several
bombing campaigns. These campaigns were in response to German air attacks
against the British air force and their assets and focused primarily on the city of
Berlin. Throughout these campaigns, over a million tons of bombs were dropped ...

Introduction
Zara is one of the Inditex s largest international fashion brands. The company first
opened in La Coruna in 1975, still lives by the simple idea of Amancio Ortega to link
customer demand to manufacturing, and link manufacturing to distribution.
Castellano and Ortega shared the same beliefs that quick response to customers, use
of computers, and disintegrated decision making were important to build the
business. It has built distribution and information system which allows to keep latest
design in stores in just one or two weeks. Its supply chain has made it so successful

Collaboration of chief tasks, strategic use of organizational resources and core
competencies contribute to Zara s competitive advantage. Zara follows vertically
integrated supply chain so it exercises control over suppliers. Demand is easily met
and manufacturing is easily achieved. It uses Vertical Marketing System (VMS). It
has Zara successfully integrate design, production, distribution, and retailing and
which has turned it into the world s fastest growing fashion retailer. Its design team
is having skilled and talented and experienced staff and the designers are regularly
updated by stores and sales staff which keep record of moving stock. Its in house
team of production department is also hardworking and producing clothes quickly
as it is manufacturing clothes in small batch. The market survey said that people
visit Zara often when compared to Zara s competitors. Its employees wait for one

from store and then design team try to make better design for customer satisfaction
and the design which is not sold their production will be stopped and in this manner
it will face only little cost but will be able to attract customers. So its vertical
integration system is helping it to gain advantage. Its customers are well aware that
its stock will be changing after every week so they visit quite often to this store as
they know if they don t visit regularly then they can miss good stuff and good
designer clothes. In the market survey it has been revealed that in Spain top
branded fashion store is visited by customers 3 times a year and whereas Zara is
visited by its customers 17 times a year so it is clear that Zara is taking advantage of

Descriptive and Inferential Statistics Descriptive and inferential statistics are
incredibly similar forms of research testing within psychology. Each seeks to
analyze, describe, and possibly predict a population s behavior. As with psychology
itself, statistical analysis within psychology began as a philosophy (Goodwin, 2008).
This philosophy quickly turned to a scientific pursuit, again mirroring psychology

Aron, E. Aron, Coups, 2009). Additionally, when using inferential statisticsthe
inferences about the research study exceeds the numbers collected in the study (A.
Aron, E. Aron, Coups, 2009). Therefore, the inferences communicate exactly how
reliable data collected for the research study is. The inferences in inferential statistics
also convey how significant the information collected is. The information researchers
gather for their study only shows a sampling of the group of participants that the
researchers use. This sampling used must vary enough to be representative of the
reliability and significance of the research study ( Research Methods, n.d.). There
also must not be much variation in the data (scores) obtained for the study. When
using inferential statistics the researcher must prove that the results of the study are
not based on chance or the outcome leads to chance ( Research Methods, n.d.).
Ideally, if the result is a probability, the researcher s observation of the difference
would be statistically significant ( Research Methods, n.d.). The difference would be
the difference in the variables used in the study. Researchers must use descriptive
statistics to establish a research study that is statistically significant. The use of
descriptive statistics provides

come to America was a difficult but beneficial sacrifice. Without both of their
brave decisions to come to America, I would not be here today. Both my grandma
and grandpa came over to America as young adults but they did not know one
another. My grandma has three sisters, but only one of her sisters came to America
with her, while the other two sisters chose to stay in Ireland. My grandpa died
before I was born thus I do not know much about how he came to America. My family
has strong cultures when it comes to our Irish Americanheritage. The strongest
culture in my family is the cooking of Irish food. My grandma often makes her
signature Irish soda bread, which is a family recipe that was passed down to me. I
hope that in the future I will make Irish soda bread for my children to continue on
our culture. Although my family always celebrates our culture, we celebrate being
Irish Americans the most on St. Patrick s Day. Every year for St. Patrick s Day my
family makes authentic Irish cuisine. For breakfast, my family makes potato
pancakes, Irish bacon which is thick pieces of ham, black pudding, and bangers
which are thick sausages. My dinner, my family makes corned beef, braised red
cabbage, and potatoes. As my family gathers for St. Patrick s Day, there is always
Gaelic music playing in the background for the
Lab Safety And Safety In A Science Lab
Lab safety is very important if you are going to work in a science lab. The two
things to always remember when working in a lab is safety and that lab is a
privilege. The Lab is a privilege each student is lucky to have, without it the
students would not be able to conduct experiments in the laboratory. One of the
most important reasons why students should always be safe is because many
things in the lab can be harmful to one or others in the lab. Toxic substances may
be spilled, shards of glass or other sharps may cause injuries/accidents if one is not
careful. Lab procedures must be talked over and thoroughly in a lab to make sure
that the lab is a safe environment to perform tasks for the experiment. Using good
judgment, observe safety rules and follow directions can prevent accidents from
happening.
One of the first rules in the laboratory is having the correct /appropriate attire. While
working in the lab all clothing must not be baggy or loose and be able for one to
work in their workspace. Hair must be slicked back and out of the way from all
materials during an experiment. Open toes shoes are not allowed in the lab, only
enclosed shoes. No long dangling jewelry or items are permitted. As well, goggles
should always be on just in case any chemicals or materials are out of harms worth.
Lastly, in the lab, all students including the professor should be wearing an apron
while conducting all experiments. This prevents a lot of accidents that can be caused
by the
Pros And Methods Of The Nursing Process
The Nursing process is a scientific method used by nurses to ensure the quality of
patient care. Broken down into five separate steps; assessing; diagnosing, planning,
implementing, and evaluating all nurses must be familiar with the nursing process.
Nonetheless a student name Amy wants to improve her grades. She had learned
about using the nursing process during class a couple of days ago and if it works
for planning patient care, why can it not work for her? Though we won t go
through all the nursing process steps, we will apply some of those steps to help Amy
create a successful study plan to pass her classes.
In the first step of the nursing process; assessment, the nurse gathers information
about a patient. Amy can gather data on her study habits by figuring out what type of
learner she is to incorporate that learning style into her study habits, assessing her
current grades and keeping records, and testing her knowledge to see what she current
knows. The first most important thing that Amy can assess is how she learns. Is
she an auditory, visual or kinetics learning? Once Amy is able to establish which
learning method works better for her, she can incorporate that learning method to
study successfully. Amy assessing her grades can give her a better understand
where her GPA currently stands. Is it low enough that even if she studies, she still
won t pass? Is her GPA high enough to when she does studies she ll get an A ? All of
these have to be considered. Also keeping
Gender Inequality In Law School Case Study
In this paper, I focus on women s experiences in law school and law firms, and how
these two institutions impact the role of gender within the professional partner
track. I examine whether this disparity in the legal profession is just a reflection of
society s views on gender or if this disparity is caused by the structure of law school
classes or law firms and what could aide this inequality. As a female student with an
interest in becoming a lawyer it is important to address and fix the strong gender
inequality within the legal profession. In order to analyze this topic, I related the
experiences of a female partner to research on the ranking of law schools, the
hemisphere of law firms, and discrimination within these two areas.

Like subsections of the conservative right in Southworth s books, Lawyer X agrees
that the role of lawyers should be to serve their client s needs and supports the idea
the lawyers are supposed to fight and stick up for their clients in ways that their
clients cannot stick up for themselves within the world of law. Although family law
is gendered, I wanted to analyze how deeply gendered the legal profession is and
whether the law school attended or law firm practice plays a role in this disparity. To
do this I will apply Lawyer X s experiences to research on women in the legal
profession, women owned law firms and discrimination within these two areas.
Studies like Sterling and Reichman s (2016) show us that women are significantly
underrepresented in partnership and ownership within the legal profession
(Sterling Reichman, 2016). The growth of women owned law firms will hopefully
aid the disproportion of the genders within the legal profession. Lawyer X hopes
that the formation of women owned law firms will in fact be a trend, instead of an
aberration, because it is important for women to be represented in the legal
profession (Lawyer X, 24 May 2017). This growth of female owned law firms has
even seeped into the corporate hemisphere, with firms like Brune Richard within New

Comparing The Film V For Vendetta And The Song Get
Up...
Comparative analyses exploring the film V for Vendetta and the song Get Up Stand
Up by Bob Marley and how they relate to the social context of Marxism.
One of the themes that influenced many artists in the past is standing up for your
rights. V for Vendetta (2005) and Bob Marley s Get Up, Stand Up (1973) has been
chosen because the author supports these works fit into the social context of Marxism.
From the outset, Marxism will be examined in terms of the historical aspect and
materialistic ideology. Moreover, the study will look at how these elements were
manipulated by the powers that be. There follows a short synopsis of the film V
for Vendetta and an analysis of specific scenes that relate to the Marxist theory.
Subsequently, the discussion will focus on Marley s influence on Jamaican politics
and consequently an analysis on how Marley s Get Up Stand Up (1973) lyrics relate
to Marxism. Lastly, by implementing appropriate approaches there will be a critical
comparison on how these works relate to Marxism (explanation).
History of Karl Marx
Karl Heinrich Marx was born in Trier, Germany in 1818 (bbc.co.uk, 2015). Marx
joined the University of Bonn in 1835 (doube check, duel stuff) to study in the
Faculty of Law (Kreis, 2000). In 1836 (find out what happened), Marx moved to
Berlin to enrol at Berlin University as a law student and soon after he became a
member of the Young Hegelians (Engels, 2015). Which was/is an idealist movement

Write An Essay On The Muscovy Ducks
An invasive species is an organism that is not native to a certain area but it resides
there anyway (What is an Invasive Species, 2016). There are many of these
invasive species that are now in Florida. Such as the Muscovy duck, the Burmese
python, the Asian sword fern, and many others. Invasive species can be a huge
burden on nature, and society. This is why certain species that are not in this
region of the world should stay out. The Muscovy duck is a black bodied duck
with some white near the neck, and a red head. The Muscovy duck is a mammoth
nuisance to local communities. It maims flower beds, it eliminates waste
everywhere, and is generally just in the way(Northwest Houston, 2016). Muscovy
ducks are not only invasive in Florida, they are invasive in the entire United States,
with the exception of a few counties in southern Texas where the Muscovy duck is a
native species(Northwest Houston, 2016). A common way to eradicate these ducks
is to trap them and release them in a different area, or give them over to a wildlife...

The Burmese python is a pale yellow snake with large black and brown spots
covering its long body. It is also one of the five largest snakes in the entire
world(Burmese Pythons, 2016). The Burmese pythons were imported from
Southeast Asia. They started off by eating most of the rodents and smaller
mammals in the Everglades, and are now eating their way through the rest of
Florida. Some people like to keep these pythons as pets, but they eventually get
bigger, and bigger until they are no longer fit to be a pet(Haberman, Clyde, 2016).
The Burmese python is a force to be reckoned with, as it will squander almost
anything in its path. If you end up crossing a Burmese python you should call animal
control immediately, as these snakes are very dangerous(Burmese python control,
2016). They are not only a burden, but also a danger to nature and

Loss of Innocence in Mamas Don t Let Your Babies Grow
Up...
One of my daddy s favorite songs is Mamas Don t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be
Cowboys by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. The song is an old southern
anthem of the basic tale and fate of growing up. The song goes on to warn mothers
to keep their children safe from the harsh world that awaits them, in this case it s
the world of the west, and it couldn t be more true. Growing up is inevitable and is
a epidemic people have been trying to battle for years, the same way Peter Pan
could not stand to age even a year. With growing up and older, the world around
you seems to change within itself but all that is really changing is you. Your
values and morals change along with your opinions. You begin to see things in a
different light and it s as if when you were born, you were born into complete
darkness and as time goes on the light slowly starts to burn from dim to blindingly
bright. Everyone has been growing up for years, even
Scout Finch from fictional Maycomb, Alabama in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird
.
Scout s journey from innocence to understanding is one everyone must endure and
take on with all the trials and tribulations that come with life. Most children grow up
hearing old stories from their families and sit at sleepovers in circles telling scary
ghost stories and they believe them, just as Scout believed that inside the house lived
a malevolent phantom
(Lee, page 14). As Scout grows forward and the story progresses she learns, after

Positive Accounting Theory
Compare and contrast normative and positive accounting approaches:
Definition of PAT:
Watts and Zimmerman (1986) defined Pat as a theory that seeks to explain and
predicts particular phenomenon. It is concerned with explaining accounting practice.
The three basic hypotheses as outlined by Watts and Zimmerman (1978) underlying
PAT are:
1. Bonus plan hypothesis:
The bonus plan hypothesis is that managers of firms with bonus plans are more likely
to use accounting methods that increase current period reported income. Such
selection presumably increase the present value of bonuses if the compensation
committee of the board of directors does not adjust to the method chosen
2. Debt/equity hypothesis:
The debt/equity hypothesis predicts that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
92). The main objective of normative accounting theories is to provide guidance to
individuals to enable them to select the most appropriate accounting policies for
given circumstances (Deegan, 2003, p. 90).
Therefore, the result of normative accounting research should provide prescription to
inform others about the optimal accounting approach to adopt and why this particular
approach is considered optimal.
Normative accounting research has resulted accounting theories that are relevant for
the setting of financial reporting standards (Mozes, 1992, p. 93). In this case, the
FASB s (U.S Financial Accounting Standard Board) call for normative research can
be interpreted as a request for accounting researchers to investigate whether the user
specific and decision specific qualities that standard setters require are present in the
accounting data (Mozes, 1992, p. 93). A successful example of normative accounting
theories is conceptual framework for financial reporting published by FASB. It was
started in 1978 by SFAC (Statement of Financial Accounting Concept) No. 1:
Objectives of Financial Reporting by Business Enterprises.
Conceptual framework is defined by FASB as follow (FASB, 1980, p. i): Conceptual
framework is a coherent system of interrelated objectives and fundamentals that is
expected to lead to consistent standards and that prescribes the nature, function, and
limits of financial accounting and reporting.
It is expected to serve the public interest by

Theme Of Siegfried Sassoon The name of Siegfried Sassoon is written down in the Poets Corner in Westminster Abbey among the greatest authors of the wartime to pay homage to his contribution to the Universal Literature. Despite of the fact that he is sharing the eternity with other outstanding authors of the period, his sanity was indeed questioned. When WWI started he was willing to participate in it, nonetheless, as he became more aware of the reality of the battlefield, his poetryevolved towards an increasingly realistic and disenchanted one. As a result of this, he created poems full of levity that were utterly satirical. His verses reflected the bitterness of his emotions and his rage. How Heaney Moldes His Roots Through Farming And Forging How Heaney Moldes his Roots Through Farming and Forging Seamus Heaney s poems Digging and The Forge demonstrate how he perceives his purpose as a writer in comparison to farming and blacksmithing. His first poem, Digging was Heaney s debut to the world of poetry. He had begun to write poetry in 1962, but Digging was the first poem he officially published. This poem highlights Heaney s relationship with his father and grandfather, contrasting his profession from theirs. He describes them as hard working farmers, which he is not and could never be due to his love of writing. The word digging itself parallels major themes in the poem regarding family tradition, memories, and the acceptance of his vocation. This poem shows Heaney s struggle with recognizing if his identity as a poet is honorable and how that reflects on his family history. Whereas The Forgeis published in Seamus Heaney s second volume of poetry. Similar to Digging , The Forge explores Heaney s admiration for blue collar workers. Through his writing, Heaney describes a local blacksmith s view of progression, and how once the forge was an essential part of Irish rural life. In parallel to Digging , the blacksmith recollects how once farmers explicitly used the services of the blacksmith to repair and make ploughs and other farm instruments while also forging shoes for their horses. These two poems are reflections of Heaney s role as a poet and how he conceives his profession in relation to other
  • 7. The Spanish Empire, And The Empire Of The Portuguese Empire Portugal: In existence for nearly six centuries, the Portuguese Empire was one of the largest and longest lived empires in the world and the first colonial empire of the Renaissance. Portugal s colonization style followed two basic patterns: in Asia, the Portuguese conquered cities, then monopolize trade; whereas in Africa and the Americas, they occupied expansive territories where European political organization was imposed on existing indigenous societies. The royal crown withheld strict control of justice, fortified by the authority of royal agents; in this system natives were rarely if ever given any mechanism for self governance in their own lands. Hence, the crown created colonial institutions endowed with vague jurisdictions intended to act as a check and balance system for each other. Although this strategy worked to solidify Portuguese presence and establish dominance across the globe, the recurring approvals and consultations required by the monarchical administrative procedure hindered Portuguese efficiency and rule for its far reaching empire, especially for immediate concerns like military threats. Instead of a strong empire with precise and defined areas of responsibility, the superpower worked through a precarious arrangement of vertical and horizontal surveillance among officials as a means of defending their supreme authority. This framework eventually led to a rather weak centralized empire in which the intermediate levels of authority oversaw day to day

After the merger, Diageos new CEO, John McGrath and executive teams had a vision to create a more focused strategy, concentrating on their core strengths, and integrate the company fully into the global spirits organization, and sold off all non beverage conglomerates. The purpose of all the vicissitudes was to position the company to meet their vision of becoming the world s leading premium Drinks Company. During the post merger integration, Mr. McGrath concentrated on the core competencies and the ability to build a premium consumer brand, leveraging it on a global basis. The strategy they created was to implement company wide the Diageo way of brand building . This way of working provided a guide line on conducting business based on perceptions of its stakeholders and customers needs. From there, Diageo developed an inimitable business structure in which country operations were organized leveraging its core competencies and competitive advantages. Recently, in 2015 Diageo took another step towards focusing on its core business and competencies, and sold off their wine business. In the alcohol industry wine is a very competitive business, and within

Hannah Dustan and Mary Rowlandson are both key figures when it comes to such American Literature. Both of these women shared their own personal experiences of being held captive. They both have a lot in common as they both were captured by Native Americans; both were puritans and both lost members of their family. While Rowlandson chose to write her story in a first person narrative, Dustan s story was told in the words of Cotton Mather based on what he had heard from Dustan herself. The more you read, the more frequently psalms quoted from the bible seem to be used. Approximately one third of the Biblical references that pervade Rowlandson s narrative of her captivity (Henwood, 169). It is clearly evident that religion plays a massive part of her life and she turns to her religion throughout her captivity. She uses the psalms as a context for her misery, spiritual assurance, and emotional release (Henwood, 170). Some have stated that the use of all the psalms in Rowlandson s narrative has prevented her from telling some of the story. Derounian and others have portrayed the Biblical text as inhibiting Rowlandson s ability to tell her own tale (Henwood, 170). Although Henwood herself disagreed with this theory stating, the sacred Psalms render publicly legitimate, even righteous, the captive s very human frustration and rage and thus enable her, as well as the communal vision she is a part of, to survive (170). The psalms become such a massive part of the narrative it is easy to see how some people find them to overshadow the story. Rowlandson however seemed to be such a religious

The detective novel provides a mode of order and stability which is otherwise threatened in the world. Therefore, the inferences communicate exactly how reliable data collected for the research study is. The inferences in inferential statistics also convey how significant the information collected is. The information researchers gather for their study only shows a sampling of the group of participants that the researchers use. This sampling used must vary enough to be representative of the reliability and significance of the research study ( Research Methods, n.d.). There also must not be much variation in the data (scores) obtained for the study. When using inferential statistics the researcher must prove that the results of the study are not based on chance or the outcome leads to chance ( Research Methods, n.d.). Ideally, if the result is a probability, the researcher s observation of the difference would be statistically significant ( Research Methods, n.d.). The difference would be the difference in the variables used in the study. Researchers must use descriptive statistics to establish a research study that is statistically significant. The growth of women owned law firms will hopefully aid the disproportion of the genders within the legal profession. Lawyer X hopes that the formation of women owned law firms will in fact be a trend, instead of an aberration, because it is important for women to be represented in the legal profession (Lawyer X, 24 May 2017). This growth of female owned law firms has even seeped into the corporate hemisphere, with firms like Brune Richard within New York

Comparative analyses exploring the film V for Vendetta and the song Get Up Stand Up by Bob Marley and how they relate to the social context of Marxism. One of the themes that influenced many artists in the past is standing up for your rights. V for Vendetta (2005) and Bob Marley s Get Up, Stand Up (1973) has been chosen because the author supports these works fit into the social context of Marxism. There are many of these invasive species that are now in Florida. Such as the Muscovy duck, the Burmese python, the Asian sword fern, and many others. Invasive species can be a huge burden on nature, and society. This is why certain species that are not in this region of the world should stay out. The Muscovy duck is a black bodied duck with some white near the neck, and a red head. The Muscovy duck is a mammoth nuisance to local communities. It maims flower beds, it eliminates waste everywhere, and is generally just in the way(Northwest Houston, 2016). Muscovy ducks are not only invasive in Florida, they are invasive in the entire United States, with the exception of a few counties in southern Texas where the Muscovy duck is a native species(Northwest Houston, 2016). A common way to eradicate these ducks is to trap them and release them in a different area, or give them over to a wildlife... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Burmese python is a pale yellow snake with large black and brown spots covering its long body. It is also one of the five largest snakes in the entire world(Burmese Pythons, 2016). The Burmese pythons were imported from Southeast Asia. They started off by eating most of the rodents and smaller mammals in the Everglades, and are now eating their way through the rest of Florida. Some people like to keep these pythons as pets, but they eventually get bigger, and bigger until they are no longer fit to be a pet(Haberman, Clyde, 2016). The Burmese python is a force to be reckoned with, as it will squander almost anything in its path. If you end up crossing a Burmese python you should call animal control immediately, as these snakes are very dangerous(Burmese python control, 2016). They are not only a burden, but also a danger to nature and

  • 46. Loss of Innocence in Mamas Don t Let Your Babies Grow Up... One of my daddy s favorite songs is Mamas Don t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. The song is an old southern anthem of the basic tale and fate of growing up. The song goes on to warn mothers to keep their children safe from the harsh world that awaits them, in this case it s the world of the west, and it couldn t be more true. Growing up is inevitable and is a epidemic people have been trying to battle for years, the same way Peter Pan could not stand to age even a year. With growing up and older, the world around you seems to change within itself but all that is really changing is you. Your values and morals change along with your opinions. You begin to see things in a different light and it s as if when you were born, you were born into complete darkness and as time goes on the light slowly starts to burn from dim to blindingly bright. Everyone has been growing up for years, even Scout Finch from fictional Maycomb, Alabama in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird . Scout s journey from innocence to understanding is one everyone must endure and take on with all the trials and tribulations that come with life. Most children grow up hearing old stories from their families and sit at sleepovers in circles telling scary ghost stories and they believe them, just as Scout believed that inside the house lived a malevolent phantom (Lee, page 14). As Scout grows forward and the story progresses she learns, after Arthur Boo Radley
  • 47. Positive Accounting Theory Compare and contrast normative and positive accounting approaches: Definition of PAT: Watts and Zimmerman (1986) defined Pat as a theory that seeks to explain and predicts particular phenomenon. It is concerned with explaining accounting practice. The three basic hypotheses as outlined by Watts and Zimmerman (1978) underlying PAT are: 1. Bonus plan hypothesis: The bonus plan hypothesis is that managers of firms with bonus plans are more likely to use accounting methods that increase current period reported income. Such selection presumably increase the present value of bonuses if the compensation committee of the board of directors does not adjust to the method chosen 2. The main objective of normative accounting theories is to provide guidance to individuals to enable them to select the most appropriate accounting policies for given circumstances (Deegan, 2003, p. 90). Therefore, the result of normative accounting research should provide prescription to inform others about the optimal accounting approach to adopt and why this particular approach is considered optimal. Normative accounting research has resulted accounting theories that are relevant for the setting of financial reporting standards (Mozes, 1992, p. 93). In this case, the FASB s (U.S Financial Accounting Standard Board) call for normative research can be interpreted as a request for accounting researchers to investigate whether the user specific and decision specific qualities that standard setters require are present in the accounting data (Mozes, 1992, p. 93). A successful example of normative accounting theories is conceptual framework for financial reporting published by FASB. It was started in 1978 by SFAC (Statement of Financial Accounting Concept) No. 1: Objectives of Financial Reporting by Business Enterprises. Conceptual framework is defined by FASB as follow (FASB, 1980, p. i): Conceptual framework is a coherent system of interrelated objectives and fundamentals that is expected to lead to consistent standards and that prescribes the nature, function, and limits of financial accounting and reporting. It is expected to serve the public interest by
