This document describes a speed checker device for highways that monitors vehicle speed and alerts traffic authorities of speed limit violations. The speed checker uses infrared sensors spaced 1 meter apart to measure the time it takes a vehicle to pass between the sensors. It then calculates the vehicle's speed and sounds an alarm if the speed exceeds the highway limit. This allows traffic authorities to be notified of speeding vehicles and helps reduce accidents. The speed checker provides a simple alternative to more complex radar and laser-based speed guns by measuring time of flight between two infrared beams to calculate a vehicle's speed as it passes.
To develop a device that detect rash driving on highways and to alert the traffic authorities wirelessly the speed details and any speed violation and avoid accidents due to rash driving on highways. With the help of this system the speed will be calculated by a Microcontroller program and if the vehicle crosses the speed limit a buzzer sounds alerting the police both at the location and wirelessly at the control room.

The project mentioned here is “Speed checker and over speed detector for Highways”. This project is designed and developed by taking into consideration the problem mentioned above. We have used two sensors in this project. These sensors detect the vehicle speed. Condition is that, the two sensors should be installed at a distance of 100 meteres apart from one another.
Now-a-days we hear news about accidents on Highways very frequently. And in most of the cases main reason of accident is overspeed. Although all highways do have signboards indicating maximum speed limit for the sake of driver’s safety, but still people does not obey highway speed limit.

This paper presents a device to detect the vehicle's speed and recording the image. The major cause of road accident is mostly caused by human speed. The speed of a moving vehicle is determined by using calculation from a particular distance and time as an approach to estimate the vehicle speed. This system is designed to reduce the road accidents in the development of the vehicle speed detector system by using an IR sensor, Camera, 16x2 LCD, buzzer, LED and Arduino UNO. Police stations handle this system for reducing the vehicle's accidents conditions. In this system, two IR LED's transmitter and receiver sensor pairs, which are installed on the highway 27 cm apart, with the transmitter and the receiver of each pair on the same side of the road. The system displays the time taken by the vehicle in crossing the distance from one pair to the other from which the speed of the vehicle is calculated. If a vehicle exceeds the speed limit then LED is ON while the buzzing sound gives an indication to the police stations. The camera is used for recording the vehicle's images and LCD is used to display the vehicle's speed. Arduino UNO is the heart of the system, which controls all the function of the circuit. This speed checker will come handy for the highway traffic police as it will not only provide a digital display in accordance with a vehicle’s speed but also sound an alarm if the vehicle exceeds the permissible speed for the highway.
The objective of this project is to provide an enhancement in the current railway system. This project is basically divided into two modules depending on its working.
The 1st module will provide an automatic railway gate at a level crossing replacing the gates operated by the gatekeeper. It deals with two things: Firstly, it deals with the reduction of time for which the gate is being kept closed and secondly, to provide safety to the road users by reducing railway accidents and also gives a prior intimation to the driver if any vehicle is stuck on the track during the train arrival so that the driver can take necessary precautions.
The 2nd module will deal with a container which will be placed below the entire lavatories which will automatically detect the platform and get closed to maintain the cleanliness of the platform. Next as soon the train will pass the station the container will get open to propel the slurry contains somewhere outside the station.
This is a simple project for Induction Loop Vehicle Detector and Counter. It is very useful in counting car's and change its destination in tollbooth or parking area

Railway Level Crossing Accidents Preventer is an exiting research in the railway department which provides safety and prevents the accidents in the nation.
The main objective of this project is to fabricate a fully automated manned & unmanned railway crossing. In this project, the sensor checks the train before reaching the level crossing from a particular distance depending on the capacity of the sensor and gives a command to the receiver units.
When a train approaches the level crossing an alarm sound is produced and the RED light displayed. At that time our device fixed vehicles that is nearing the level crossing will receive the message and will be stopped.
Similarly after the train crosses the level crossing, the sensor senses the train has crossed the level crossing, and gives a command to the receiver units. Now the alarm stops and the GREEN light glows and the signal allows the vehicles to moves on.

Implementation of Doppler Radar Based Vehicle Speed Detection Systemijtsrd
Nowadays, vehicular accidents have been increasing from day to day. Most of them are the cause of over speeding. This thesis describes the Arduino based vehicle speed detection system using Doppler radar. The primary goal of this system is to design of the vehicle speed detector using Doppler radar which is used to reduce the amount of accidents caused by over speeding. In this system, continuous wave CW Doppler radar which is a special case that only provides a velocity output is used as a sensor and the microcontroller is used to calculate the speed of the vehicle. Moreover, the amplifier is used to amplify the voltage level to drive the microcontroller as the sensor output is in micro volts. It is also included LCD display to indicate the speed level. A Doppler radar that can determine the frequency shift that occurs in electromagnetic waves due to the motion of scatters toward or away from the observer through measurement of the phase change that occurs in electromagnetic waves during a series of pulses. The Doppler frequency is negative for objects receding from the radar. The Doppler frequency is positive for objects approaching the radar. This system can be acceptable in real time applications because it is independent of temperature, humidity, noise airflow, dust, light, etc. The results of design are tested and follow through realization. Each of the implementation is evaluated and these evaluations lead to the conclusion that the design is able to achieve high accuracy of the speed. The major components of the design are Doppler radar HB100 , Arduino Uno, LCD display and LM324. C programming language is developed in this system. The results of this work can improve the performance of automobile safety system. In India most of the accidents are happening due to vehicles over speeding. Sometimes if obstacle is close to the vehicle then they won't be able to judge the distance to apply instant brakes and accident is occurred. To avoid accident due to over speeding, obstacle detection using ultrasonic sensors is used. In this project ultrasonic sensor is used for 360degree detection of obstacle. If obstacle is in front of the vehicle less than safety distance, automatically brakes will be applied or if vehicle comes from backside of the vehicle and is at less than safety distance then the warning light is shown to vehicle. Controlling and Reducing of Speed for Vehicles Automatically By Using Rf Tech...IJERA Editor
For vehicle safety and safety for passengers in vehicle is an important parameter. Most of the vehicles get
accident because no proper safety measures are taken especially at curves and hair pin bends humps and any
obstacles in front of the vehicle. This system can be used for the prevention of such a problem by indicating a
pre indication and also reducing the speed of vehicles by reducing the fuel rate of vehicle. As the action is in
terms of fuel rate so the vehicle automatically goes to control and avoids the accidents. At curves and hair pin
bends the line of sight is not possible for the drivers so the special kind of transmitter which is tuned at a
frequency of 433MHZ are mounted as these transmitters continuously radiate a RF signal for some particular
area. As the vehicle come within this radiation the receiver in the vehicle gets activate. The transmitter used here
is a coded transmitter which is encoded with encoder. The encoder provides a 4 bit binary data which is serially
transmitted to transmitter. The transmitter used here is ASK type (amplitude shift keying) which emits the RF
radiation.

INTRODUCTION
While driving on highways, motorists should not exceed the maximum speed limit permitted for
their vehicle. However, accidents keep taking place due to speed violations since the drivers tend
to ignore their speedometers.
So some system is required which will inform the traffic control unit about such vehicles
exceeding the speed limit to avoid accidents on the highway.
This speed checker will come handy for the highway traffic police as it will not only provide a
digital display in accordance with a vehicle’s speed but also sound an alarm if the vehicle
exceeds the permissible speed for the highway.
As soon as a fast moving vehicle exceeds the speed beyond the specified limit, an alarm is
sounded and traffic control unit will be informed about the vehicle. Thus by using this system,
we can manage to control the accidents occurring on highways and ensure drivers safety.

LITERATURE SURVEY:
In market today many speed guns are available which use RADAR, which works by bouncing a
microwave frequency of a moving object & measuring distance in the transmitted, & returned
frequency, this is called Doppler Shift. If the returned frequency is higher than transmitted
frequency called a compressed the vehicle is approaching the RADAR gun. If the returned
frequency is lower called stretched the target vehicle is going away from RADAR gun.
In a laser speed gun measure the round-trip time for light to reach a car and reflect back. A laser
speed gun shoots a very short burst of infrared laser light & then waits for it to reflect off the
vehicle. The gun counts the number of nanoseconds it takes for the round trip & by dividing by
two it can calculate the distance to the car.
But unlike the above-mentioned complicated methods of speed tracking, we have used relatively
simpler technique to calculate the speed of any vehicle. We have two IR beams each of them
facing a infrared light sensor. As soon as first beam of light is intercepted an interrupt will be
generated. This will trigger the timer. Then as soon as second beam is intercepted the timer will
be stopped. Knowing the distance between two sensors and the time elapsed we can easily
calculate speed of the vehicle. This speed will be processed by the microcontroller to check
whether it is in the specified limits.
