Patrick Suskind s Perfume Character Analysis
Patrick SГјskind s seminal 1985 novel, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, achieves that rare feat
of creating a main character who is both the protagonist and antagonist or in another phrase an anti
hero. The novel discusses the life of Grenouille who became an infamous criminal who lived in the
significant change and unrest in Paris in 18th century France and had experienced life chiefly
through his highly developed sense of smell. SГјskind s did a marvelous job in using personality
traits that can be easily be distinguished to an actual serial killer. He has also been more in depth
within Grenouille s personality by adding common mental disabilities and psychological abuse that
the majority of infamous killers faced throughout their lives.... Show more content on

Without bearing an odor, he was titled as unidentified and abominable. This led him the absence for
someone to guide him and comprehending the difference of what is considered morally right or
wrong. However, unlike Grenouille, Ed Gein isolation was due to the fault of parental guidance.
Gein lived a repressive and solitary life on his family homestead with a weak brother, violent
unemployed alcoholic father, and domineering mother. His mother, moved into a desolate location
to prevent outsiders from influencing her sons. ( Ed Gein: Real American Psycho. Ed Gein: Real
American Psycho.) Gein only left the premises to go to school and she blocked any attempt he
made to pursue friendships. The mother, who was a fanatical Lutheran, drummed into her boys the
innate immorality of the world, the evil of drink and the belief that all women (herself excluded)
were prostitutes and lubricious. When she died, her son was a thirty nine year old bachelor, still
emotionally enslaved to the woman who had tyrannized his life. (Ed Gein Biography and Crime
Scene Photos. Wisconsin Sickness.)
In addition, Both Gien and Grenouille also had the capability to manipulate others, one of the main
symptoms that each sociopath carry. Grenouille manipulated Baldini so he can stay and work with
him. He also manipulated the public and the government to pardon his crimes and Laure

The Subprime Mortgage Crisis
The Subprime Mortgage crisis
ECO 2072 Principles of Macroeconomics
In the beginning
One of the first indications of the late 2000 financial crisis that led to downward spiral known as
the Recession was the subprime mortgages; known as the mortgage mess . A few years earlier the
substantial boom of the housing market led to the uprising of mortgage loans. Because interest rates
were low, investors took advantage of the low rates to buy homes that they could in return flip
(reselling) and homeowners bought homes that they typically wouldn t have been able to afford.
High interest rates usually keep people from borrowing money because it limits the amount
available to use for an investment. But the creation of the subprime mortgage ... Show more content

Risky Business
Around 2006 the price of houses began to fall substantially fast. The oversupply of houses and
lack of buyers pushed the house prices down until they really plunged in the late 2006 and early
2007 (The Subprime Mortgage Crisis Explained). These actions threw investors into a big
dilemma. In the beginning they believed buying the mortgages would bring them a profit, but
quickly realized that the mortgages would cost them more financial damage than reselling the
homes. Nationwide, home vales have declined about 16% since the summer of 2006 and experts
project that the drop will continue until homes have lost about 25% of their value (Biroonak,
2008). In other words mortgage homes are underwater , that is, the mortgage owed equals or
exceeds the value of the house (Biroonak, 2008). Investors and homeowners started to go more in
debt trying to pay off their original debts.
With all of the incentives and mortgage products given so easily to people that couldn t afford the
high prices (including interest rates), many people defaulted on their first mortgages because they
were no longer were able to receive the profit from the homes they first intended to flip. During
the first quarter of 2008, nearly 9% of all mortgage holders were delinquent or in foreclosure, the
highest rate since recordkeeping began in 1979. Foreclosure filings more than

Essay about Eva Peron
Maria Eva Duarte was born on May 7, 1919 in Los Toldos Argentina. She was the youngest
illegitimate child of Juan Duarte and his mistress Juana Ibarguen. Eva had a difficult childhood,
her father had his own wife and children, and he gave Juana s Ibarguen children his last name and
would visit them once in a while. When Eva was seven her father died living them in very poor
conditions, all the family, her mother and the five children lived in a tiny one room and in order
to pay the rent and have something to eat Eva s mother her sisters and herself had to work as
cook s for a rich and powerful family in Los Toldos. It was then that Eva got her fistclose look at the

needy. On the 22 of January a festival was held with a great number of actors and actresses, all the
benefits were destined for the victims of the earthquake. This was when Colonel Juan Domingo
Peron and Eva Duarte met each other. This would be the beginning of a relationship that would
leave a great mark in the history of Argentina. Juan Peron had been designated as vice president
and Eva had three programs in the Belgrano radio.
By now they had a relationship going and many people were not very fond of it. Eva convinced
Peron to help the working class and the government did not like this at all. On October 9,
something happened that would start a new change in the course of there lives, the president
asked Peron to resign, Peron did. And Eva had been fired from the Belgrano radio. This was a
moment when Eva would speak for their rights and fight for what she believed was right. So
after Peron resigned Eva organized a lot of people who Peron had once helped and asked them
that now it was their turn to help Juan Domingo Peron. A lot of people mostly the working class
would stand up to the media and had Peron speak in public, by now all the people were
supporting him after he had spoken to the crowd and the people were yelling amp;quot;Peron for

Should Children Have Screen Time
Although both arguements seem reasonable I feel there should be a screen time limit for
children. Being in front of a screen takes children away from human interaction. Children should
be playing and using their imagination whether its inside or outside. In personal experiences,
screen play takes a mental and physical toll on children. In my personal opinion there is no reason
to have children in front of a screen for longer than an hour or two a day. While a childis sitting in
front of a screen for hours on end they arent paying any attention to the outisde world or their
surroundings. Instead of playing on a tablet or computer or watching t.v they could be playing a
board game or reading with family or friends. I can ask my children... Show more content on

They should be outside playing games and making their own things up. Children need to use
their own original thinking and problem solving. This will help their brain developement and
skills they will need in life. Screen time is mentally draining for children. The light from the
screen throws off our body clocks and can disrupt sleep. When a child doesnt sleep enough they
are more irritable and their physical activity level will go down. This can also lead into obesity.
Children need physical activity. Whos to say they will go outisde? Well children wont have
many options if screen time is taken away. Even if its not outside they will still be doing
something other than just sitting on a couch. If a child gets enough sleep they will have the
energy to do other things both physically and mentally. Screen play is mentally draining and can
cause depression. In my personal experience with my own son screen play causes him
depression, especially before bed. What ever he watches or plays the night before interupts his
sleep. It also negatively impacts his imagintion, causing him to have night mares. All of this could
be avoided if we sat down with our children and read them a book or played a game with them

An Analysis Of Gatsby And Quentin And The Great...
Jay Gatsby and Quentin Compson come from noticeably different families, but they are similar in
more ways than expected. Their similarities are worth examining, despite the few differences
between the two, such as their personalities and upbringings. Gatsby and Quentin both have
obsessions with the past, the women that they love, as well as a desire to solely possess these
women. By considering these characters from Sound and the Fury and The Great Gatsbytogether,
important life lessons can be learned. There is no way to recapture the past, despite the amount of
effort that is exerted to do so and some dreams are not worth pursuing if they are impractical.
Gatsby and Quentin are both similar in their obsession with the past. The first three sections of
Sound and the Fury are set up to show that each character figuratively lives in a different time.
Benjy sees everything as the present, Jason only focuses on the future, and Quentin lives in the past.
He does not simply remember the past occasionally, but Quentin is unable to think about anything
but the past. There are constant flashbacks throughout his section to memories of Caddy, his father,
and fights. His grandfathers watch becomes a constant reminder of time because of the periodic
ticking. Quentin explains, I went to the dresser and took up the watch, with the face still down. I
tapped the crystal on the corner of the dresser and caught the fragments of glass in my hand and put
them into the ashtray and twisted the

A Good Man Is Hard to Find by Flannery O’Connor Essay
In the short story A Good Man Is Hard to Find, written by Flannery O Connor, the theme that the
definition of a good man is mysterious and flawed is apparent. The reader must realize that it is
difficult to universalize the definition of a good man because every person goes through different
experiences. Thus, these experiences affect his or her viewpoint and in turn flaw ones view on a
good man. O Connor conveys this theme through her excellent use of diction, imagery,
foreshadowing, and symbolism as well as through a creative use of repetition and an omniscient
point of view. The grandmother, the main character of the story, is manipulative. Her definition of a
good man refers to the characteristics that a good man should possess.... Show more content on

She [the grandmother] pointed out interesting details of the scenery: Stone Mountain, the blue
granite that in some places came up to both sides of the highway; the brilliant red clay banks
slightly streaked with purple; and the various crops that made row of green lace work on the
ground. The trees were full of silver white sunlight and the meanest of them sparkled. (1286) She
uses informal diction to help achieve the targeted theme and her slight use of a southern dialect
is one brilliant component that helps her to do so. For example, when the family stops for
barbecue sandwiches along their way to Tennessee, the owner s wife compliments the
granddaughter. Ain t she cute? Red Sam s wife said, leaning over the counter. Would you like to
come be my little girl? (1287). Adding this southern twist of diction as well as the southern
setting helps to illustrate the culture the grandmother was raised in. This helps to bridge the gap
between what the reader s definition of a good man may be, based off of their cultural
upbringing, and the grandmother s definition of a good man. This gap reinforces the O Conner s
idea that there cannot be a universal definition of a good man. Imagery is used flawlessly in this
short story. O Connor uses descriptive adjectives fairly often to paint a picture in the reader s mind
and to add spice to her

Teaching And Learning For Students
Many school systems believe that the only effective way for students to learn is through direct
instruction. This isn t the only way, but it is the most common way throughout America. Direct
instruction is the easiest way for teachers to instruct to a whole group and students are used to this
type of instruction. But that style of teaching isn t exactly the best way for students to learn and
retain information. One of the most effective ways for students to learn is through differentiated
instruction. Differentiated instruction is a framework for effective teaching that involves providing
different students with different avenues to learn. This style of instruction allows for the
curriculum to adapt to certain needs and interests of individual students. (Bravmann) Making this
instruction one of the most effective styles of teaching. It also gives both the teachers and the
students more of an opportunity to learn in different ways that will help them to be successful in
the long run. Since this type of instruction involves a ton of work many teachers don t use it
because they don t have the time but it is really worth the time, especially for the students who don
t learn like everyone else when it comes to direct instruction. One of the best examples of
differentiated instruction comes from The Ron Clark film which is about who is a man from North
Carolina who moved to New York and had the chance to change the lives of students through
differentiated instruction. He

How Peacekeeping Operations Evolved Over Time Essay
International peacekeeping efforts are a relatively new feature in military strategy. They have
their roots in earlier conflicts, most notably the First Schleswig War between Denmark and
Prussia in 1849 1850. A combined force of 3,800 troops from both Sweden and Norway with the
intent of maintaining law and order and keeping the peace were assembled, while an armistice was
worked out. This set the precedent for peacekeepingoperations that would become more
commonplace in the twentieth century. After the First World War
, the League of Nations was
established, the predecessor of what would later become the United Nations. The League was
established in large part to hopefully avoid another world war as devastating as the Great War,
as it was called. The League of Nations ultimately disbanded, giving way to the United Nations,
but peacekeeping operations increased and evolved to encompass broader and more complex
conflicts, including civil wars, which were ignored by the League out of respect for a nation s
sovereignty. This brief summary will address how peacekeeping operations evolved over time and
how these operations, or a specific operation, shapes the view of peacekeeping operations by the
American people. The League of Nations was established as a means to ensure international peace
and security through collective consultation and action. The early peacekeeping operations largely
depended on precedents, which established the rules and strategies to be followed in

What Is Joan Of Arc Essay
Joan of Arc (born Jeanette d Arc) was a saint and the national heroine of France in the early 1400
s Joan was born on January 6th 1412, during the Hundred Year War. She became a brilliant war
leader and singlehandedly led a disheartened French nation against British rule. She claimed she
heard voices and that these voices were of St. Michael, St Catherine and St. Margret, Joan
believed that the voices delivered messages from God. This eventually become her downfall
which led to her being burned at the stake and accused of being a witch. Herein then lies the
conundrum, was she killed because the people believed that she was a witch or was the reason
more because she was fast becoming a threat to male rule? Before Joan was born the English
wanted a duel monarchy over both France and England this led to the Hundred Years War which
hugely affected Joan s life when Joan was born this was almost a reality. Joan and her parents
(Jaques D Arc and Isabelle De Vouthon) lived comfortably as peasants in the French village of
DomrГ©my and Joan spent her childhood learning housekeeping skills, attending her father s
cattle and sheep and Catholicism. At the age of 12 Joan started to hear voices that she believed
were messages from God that told her to reclaim France from English rule and to lead the Dauphin,
Charles VII, to his coronation in Rheims.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pros And Cons Of King Cobra
The dense forest is wet and hot, and tensions are rising. A small Indian gray mongoose, no bigger
than a cat, is choosing to fearlessly challenge a humongous king cobra, which can potentially grow
to record breaking lengths. The winner seems obvious, but both sides have several advantages,
and there have been studies about this question. There are seemingly endless possibilities of what
could happen. However, if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to engage in a fight,
then I believe that the mongoose would win because of so many advantages. Many support the
mongoose, and many support the cobra. Either way, there are many pieces of evidence that support
the mongooses many advantages. To begin, the mongoose has great attacking abilities... Show more

That is very true, but easily disproven. Klum (2001) states that the cobra can produce startling
amounts of neurotoxin. However, the mongoose has thick fur, and the cobra has short fangs, so
injecting the cobra s toxic venom will be a challenge. According to Campbell (2015), cobras can
flatten their necks into a hood when threatened. However, the mongoose has the ability to fight
snakes, so it will know what the cobra is doing. Klum (2001) also states that the cobra can stand
up like a man in a terrifying pose. That is correct, but to the mongoose, size does not matter. It
will fearlessly go up against even the biggest, most intimidating snakes as if it were the size of
itself. The mongoose easily matches up with three of the cobras deadliest advantages. To
conclude, many pieces of evidence show that in the epic battle of cobra versus mongoose, the
mongoose would win, no contest because the cobra cannot even compare to the amazing
mongoose. At this point, it is obvious that if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to
engage in a fight, the mongoose would win because of all of its advantages. Now we all know
that a tiny mongoose can beat and kill a ferocious cobra, proving that size does not matter, in most
scenarios, at

Black Panther s Last Letter To His Father
Dear Mr. O leirin, I am a civilian in Wakanda writing on behalf of the Black Panther to nominate
him as a Nobel prize candidate for morality. I feel he should win the award because he possesses
loyalty, confidence, leadership and cooperation, as he is one of the most known superhumans

Panther is a great leader of Wakanda, he serves his people very well, but he is also a great
warrior. (C C) His father, the former King of Wakanda was killed in a bombing a few months
ago, so he has taken on a tough task. The person who set the bomb off is called the Winter Soldier.

to catch him, which leads me to my first virtue, loyalty. The Winter Soldier has killed thousands
of people before and is nothing but bad to this world. The only problem is, nobody has ever tried
to stop him, until now. The Black Panther is loyal to his father. Like I said the Winter Soldier is
very dangerous, the Black Panther faced him without second guessing it, which leads me to my
second virtue, confidence. The Black Panther explodes with confidence because he is highly
trained (Complex). Even then, that does not give everyone else to want to face the Winter
Soldier. Third is cooperation he cooperates with the Avengers because they want to find Captain
America and the Falcon who is with the Winter Soldier so they work together to find the Winter
Soldier, Captain America and the Falcon. The Black Panther teamed up with the avengers, as it
was the best way to catch the Winter Soldier (compound). The fourth and final virtue is leadership.

Characteristics Of Cultural Awareness In Africa
Cultural Awareness is a fundamental part of the NCO community and even the Commissioned
Officers community. The level of awareness is vital to one s survival if presented with the
situation of going into an area of the unknown. The country in which is going to be discussed is
a vast area with many different cultural anomalies. This country is Algeria. Culture and what it
stands for is of many meanings. The one that will be discussed is what most will find in any
location that they search. The definition is in short, the manifestations of human intellectual
achievements. There are also characteristics involved in culture as well. These can be defined as
the following: Learned Behavior: which is developed over time, some examples can be standing
in line, chewing gum, going to a concert, and even combing one s hair. Super organic: this
implies that culture is superior to nature . This word is useful when it implies that what may be
quite a different phenome from a cultural point of view. Pervasive: it touches every aspect of life.
Idealistic: it embodies the ideas and norms of a group. Variable: it varies from society to society,
group to group. These are just some of the many characteristics of culture. The cultural
characteristics of Algeria are language, demographics, government, economy, and military. The
first thing that is going to be looked at is the country s language. Algeria s language is filled with a
wide variety. Languages like Arabic which is

Greed And Regret In W. Jacobs The Monkey s Paw
W. W. Jacobs The Monkey s Paw contains many themes throughout its story; Greed and Regret
being the most critical and strong, the author writes about these polarising themes to connect
many others. You will notice that the characters Mr White , Herbert White and Major Morris are
the best characters to show the theme of Greed as I will explain. The author begins with telling
about a game of chess with Mr White and his son, a game within which he possesses ideas
involving radical change ; Mr White plays in a cocky way by putting his king into such sharp and
unnecessary perils , and notices his evident defeat. By Mr White underestimating and disrespecting
his young son, he shows his greed at play on the table of chess. When Major Morris enters the
scene, the conversation in the room shifts to his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Major Morris, at first hesitant to speak about the matter, is broken by his greed to entertain the
White family and tells them about his experience with the Monkey s Paw . Major Morris later
casts the Monkey s Paw into the fire hoping to protect from its evils, but Mr White does not
realise the true results of the wishes and takes the paw for himself. I find out later about what
grievances the Monkey s Paw brings to the family thus being the result of Major Morris greed. In
the case of Herbert White, he shows his greed through winning his way to being the man of the
house instead of his dad. When he asks his father to wish for being an emperor so he can t be
henpecked or when he asks If you only cleared the house, you d be quite happy, wouldn t you?
Herbert is attacking his father s weak points, showing a sign of greed for status in the house and
above his father. Concluding, W. W. Jacobs has the theme of Greed written in this short story
similar to the roots of a tree, bringing all other themes into fruition. Herbert is transitioned into the
theme of Family , Mr White experiences the theme of Failure and Major Morris meets Regret in

Reflective Essay On Art
The day was December 30th it was a chilly day when a young artist named Betty Edwards walked
into her first class on art. I was walking alone a week prior after meeting up with some of my
students that I tutor when I got a call from my old art professor. I took me back to when I started
learning the wonder and culture behind art. After taking his course for half a year I gave up on
art my levels of motivation dropped and I felt like I just couldn t do it. During our talk he

The Play Oppenheimer Follows The Story Of J Robert...
The play Oppenheimer follows the story of J Robert Oppenheimer and his colleagues on their
journey to discover and invent the atomic bomb. As the book is about the creation of this atomic
weapon, the entirety of it relates to morals in some shape or form. Throughout the reading of the
play I kept thinking about the moral implications of the work they were doing and what might
each individual character be thinking of it. There were two parts of the play that made me really
come up with this question in particular. The first was in chapter 22 Hiroshima, when it was
talking about the bombing of Hiroshima. That whole page was very eye opening to think how so
many people died, even though it helped many more in the end, for those people... Show more

I can agree with the idea that basing actions on morals can help to ensure that people are not
being irrational in their thought processes and that people s needs are more likely put ahead of
individual wants. If morals were not involved, then decisions would most likely be made
depending on what would advance the position of that person the most or on other selfish wants.
At the same time, without morals being looked at, many lives could be lost because there is no
clear way to judge things and come up with an agreement. Without morals, it can be extremely
tough to figure out right from wrong and how a group or individual should act. Conversely, by
looking at it from the perspective that morals should not be the basis of decision making, you can
see that if we don t use them, then many people can get hurt as a result. If people make choices
without thinking of the consequences or about what is important to them and the people around
them, the wrong choice may be made. While morals shouldn t be the only thing considered, they
must be taken into account to ensure the right things are being done. If we only base our actions
on morals, then some very important past discoveries may not have been made. If people only
consider morals than not only will decisions be biased as each person has different morals, but
many things in history may not have been accomplished. For example, the nuclear bomb may not
have been invented or people might

Hello welcome to my lecture. Today I will be comparing Nate Robinson s autobiography Heart

compare and analyse the effectiveness to manipulate the audience. Heart over height and Dream
again are both autobiographies written from the perspectives of a current and a former basketball
player.
Heart over height discusses the struggles of being a short athlete in a sport that is dominated by
tall people, to expand on this Nate Robinson is doubted throughout his whole playing career on
the basis of being five foot nine. and if he was only a few inches taller he would have more
respect, Isiah Thomas said it best: If Nate Robinson was 6 feet tall, he d be the No. 1 pick in the

the 2014 NBA draft but unfortunately found out he would be unable to play only a few days before

Cultural Context Of Immigrants And Refugees
My Experience with the Cultural Context of Immigrants and Refugees Description of Context
The cultural immersion for the immigrants and refugees group is taken from a first hand
experience with a family from hurricane Katerina. Livingston, Alabama is right off the
interstate 59/20, which a main evacuation route from the gulf coast. When hurricane Katerina hit
in 2005, several families found comfort in our small town. I was able to form a relationship
with a family that occupied one of my friend s homes. The family was from the New Orleans
area. The family had three children. Majority of their belonging were left at home. The only
things the large family was able to bring was what could fit in one car. The oldest daughter

The Buddha In The Attic Summary
The Buddha in the Attic is particularly a novel about the present, offering a historical allegory of
the somewhat recent experience after 9/11, more than just a reflection on Americas s past. In an
interview, Otsuka said, I saw parallels between the treatment of the Japanese after the bombing of
Pearl Harbor and the public scrutiny and surveillance under which Muslim Americans struggled in
the past decade. Thousands of Japanese women immigrated to the U.S as a result of the Omiai
custom. The word Omiai is often mistranslated as arranged marriages whereas the custom lies so
close to our Indian understanding of what we mistranslate as arrange marriages. Unlike arrange
marriages, the custom requires serious consideration on religion, class, bloodline,... Show more

There was a sudden population burst of Japanese in America and new anti Japanese sentiments in
the year 1920 worsened the situation of the picture brides. As a result of the mass immigration and
criticism of the Japanese immigration law, the issue of passports to these picture brides had to be
stopped by the Japanese government. Community leaders started providing counseling and referral
services to the picture brides in the U.S. Kelly Simpson wrote a majority of picture brides stayed in
the United States, helping the Japanese Diaspora survive and thrive. Otsuka precisely showed the
smallest details of the lives of the Nisei and the Issei. She cleverly named the book The Buddha in
the Attic to justify the situation of the Picture brides. Buddha symbolizes peace, the peace that was
never a part of the lives of these women. Japan was a Buddhist country and their customs, traditions
and the individuals were shaped through these beliefs. The Buddha in the title represents the
Japanese culture that is close and dear to these picture brides and during the war when their trunks
containing their Japanese possessions were burnt, the attic was the last place left for the Buddha

Similarities Between Anne Bradstreet And Who Deseased August
The two poems I chose to connect with are Anne Bradstreet s, In Memory of My Dear
Grandchild Elizabeth Bradstreet, Who Deceased August, 1665, Being A Year and a Half Old
and On Being Brought From Africa To America. In Anne Bradstreet s, In Memory of My Dear
Grandchild Elizabeth Bradstreet, Who Deceased August, 1665, Being A Year and a Half Old,
nature and her notions implicatively insinuate tremendous grief of her granddaughter s death.
Bradstreet simply observe nature where plants and fruits grow and die in a comparison with her
grandchild s death (p.121 122) And time brings down what is both strong and tall. She withal
describes different times in accordance with God s will. Bradstreet compares nature to the death
of her granddaughter who was taken at an adolescent age. Being a Puritan she believes in God s
divine will and purport. In her poem she express the difficulties she face with her death. In the
first stanza Bradstreet verbally expresses her goodbye s to her grandchild Elizabeth. Later she
utilizes nebulous words such as terminate, bewail, and rot. It seems as if Bradstreet felt her

The Charge of the Light Brigade Essay
The Charge of the Light Brigade
War poetry is a theme that has inspired many poets. Compare and contrast poems by 2 poets from
different eras and cultures. Say which one you prefer and why.
The two poems and the poets that I am going to look at are The Charge of the Light Brigade
written by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and Dulce ET
Decorum Est. Pro Patria Mori by Wilfred Owen.
The first poem was written during the reign of Queen Victoria in
England. During this time the Victorians as the people were called had a very religious outlook on
life. The account was written by the poet because it was such a bad battle that the government
couldn t let the people see that it had made a great mistake and so it commissioned

In simple terms the battle was a terrible mistake. The poet seems to be telling a story. He doesn t
give any impression of being there. The reader might feel that the poet has no experience of
being at the battle. He glorifies the men and the battle as if to hide the mistakes of the
commanders and the government, was there a man dismayed? The poet use words like Half a
league, half a league, half a league, which gives the impression like the horses were galloping
along. Also other words that he uses in it were Cannon to right of them Cannon to left of them
and cannon in front of them. Also some of the words he use to describe what was happening to
the solider like Boldly they rode and well into the jaws of death into the mouth of hell. This is
describing that they are going to face a lot of trouble. There are also six sections to this poem. An
overall description of this poem I find it hard to image it as the words he uses describe it very well
so I do no really like the poem.
I am now going to describe the Dulce ET Decorum EST Pro Patria Mori poem. This poem is
written by Wilfred Owen who was on active service during the First World War. He was a young
man and was against the terrible waste of life in the First Would War which he believed was due to
bad leadership by the generals. Wilfred Owen was able to experience the war as it really was. The

Chaos In Hamlet Essay
When together with forms, moods, [and] shapes of grief, Hamlet performs irrational actions that
cost the Kingdom of Denmark to lose its order (1.2.82 84). Shakespeare s Hamlet allows the
reader to visit the chaotic world of Hamlet and see how he deals with chaos within the kingdom.
The play begins with the death of Hamlets father. The reader later finds out that Claudius, Hamlet s
stepfather, was the the murderer. Shakespeare s stylistic choice establishes chaos within the
Kingdom of Denmark, this affects multiple characters as they try to manipulate, deceive, and outwit
their enemies. According to Dictionary.com, Chaos is defined as a state of utter confusion or

Claudius manipulates Hamlet s words and carefully constructs his speeches in front of the
people of Denmark. Claudius recognizes that Hamlet is causing chaos within the kingdom, so in
an attempt to maintain order, he sends Hamlet off to England where it would be unfortunate if
he died. Claudius, in desperation, orders Hamlet to go to England where to thine own peace, his
death [will be called an] accident[al] tragedy (4.7.61 68). This action taken by Claudius causes
more chaos, especially when Hamlet finds out his plans to behead him. As a result, Hamlet
changes the orders in the letter from Claudius to where Claudius s helpers die instead. Another
example, Polonius, a sponge of Claudius, spies on Hamlet and Gertrude s conversation. As a
result Hamlet stabs Polonius hiding behind the curtain, and he is dead for a ducant (3.4.24). This
symbolizes how much of a sponge Polonius was toward Claudius, and in the end it ended up
costing him his own life because of greed for money. In Claudius s attempts to maintain order, he

Southern Kingdom Causes
INTRODUCTION
The Southern Kingdom is said to have been exiled by the Babylonians. In this essay one would
seek to focus on tracing the causes that led to the exile of the Southern kingdom. But before I
begin, I would explain, first how the divided kingdom came about? Second what the Southern
Kingdom here means? Third what an exile is and what led to the causes of the exile of southern
kingdom? And finally the Conclusion.
First, the Divided Kingdom. From studies, the Old Testament and other sources have it that not
long after the reign of Saul, David, and Solomon the Kingdom of Israel was divided into two
kingdoms. Despite warnings from many prophets, both kingdoms repeatedly turn from God. The
Divided Kingdom, of the South and North, period follows the continuing story of Scripture in the
books of 1 Kings (chapters 11 22) and 2 Kings. And this period is recounted in three acts: the
division of the kingdom, the resulting northern kingdom (which takes Israel ), and the resulting
southern kingdom (which takes the name Judah. ). Assyria and Babylon force the divided
kingdoms into exile. Jerusalem and the Temple are destroyed.
Second, the Southern Kingdom. The Southern Kingdom (Judah) is one of the divided kingdom
after the reign of King Solomon s United Kingdom ruled by king Rehoboam. According to J. T.
Stevenson (2000), the Southern Kingdom begins with the promise of kingship from the line of
Judah, which had a long tradition, going back all the way to the prophecy of

companies ups and downs, as well as its struggles. Especially in the younger developmental years,
we see the resilience of the company and the drive that was necessary in order to continue
operations. These hardships pushed the company to continue to refine its product and mine for new

Overall, one upmanship can be deadly to both companies whom constantly try to outdo
themselves and also offer better prices. The primary reason why this can be deadly is by cutting
profit margins thinner and thinner. Ultimately price is what sells and item and not quality,
especially if the quality is marginal. You don t have to go far to see this classical struggle. Gas
stations are a prime example of one upmanship. Profit margins on gas are noted to be very thin. If
you consider gas station prices on neighboring stations, they are typically very close if not the
same. These stations have effectively locked themselves into a commitment to match or exceed
their competitor s price in order to draw higher sales, because ultimately what sells gas at
neighboring gas stations is the best price.
3.What actions would you recommend over the next five years that would help Gillette maintain its
worldwide dominance in the shaving market? What specific marketing program discussions would
you recommend? Should Gillette be worried about Schick? Explain.
Over the next five years, it is recommended that Gillette continue innovation. Innovation is key in
any market; you must continue to exceed customer expectation while continuing to meet basic
needs. Over the next five years, it is also important to keep up with changes in market demands and
also listening to consumer feedback. Marketing programs that involve getting guys to try their new

The Three Levels Of Standardness In English
The three levels of standardness in English are formal standard English, informal standard
/mainstream English, and vernacular English (Wolfram Schilling, 2016). Based in written
language, formal standard English is greatly enforced in formal institutions such as schools and is
codified in English grammar texts. It is resistant to change and only used in formal written or
spoken language (Wolfram Schilling, 2016). Informal standard English exists on a continuum in
which speakers are judged to be more or less standard. A speaker s perceived level of standardness
is flexible and subjective, and dependent on the speaker and listener s experiences, regional and
social backgrounds, preconceptions, and prejudices. Informal standard English... Show more content

The speaker s speech is 100% rhotic, and almost all ( removed HTML ) sounds are pronounced.
The few occasions where pronunciations were different were single occurrences that were later
correctly pronounced. There were some instances in which the speaker s grammar may be
considered vernacular, such as like I say [like I said] or he s done real well [he s done really
well]. However, these were not systematic and perhaps not as stigmatized as non standard in
comparison to grammatical structures such as double negatives.
The five historical explanations for US dialects given by Wolfram and Schilling (2016) are
settlement, migration, geography, contact, and economic ecology and social stratification. The
explanations for the dialect of my DARE speaker include settlement and migration.
My speaker lives in the West dialect region. The western coast was the last area in North
America to be reached in the gradual westward expansion of English speaking settlement (Labov,
Ash Boberg, 2006). Because of this, the dialect of the West region has a mixture of linguistic
patterns from regions across the United States (Labov, Ash Boberg, 2006) and is the least likely
to be affected by the founder effect and/or other characteristics of the native languages of settlers
(Wolfram Schilling, 2016) . It is also arguable that speakers of the West region dialect does not
speak in a variety the same way that a speaker from the Appalachian region might.

What Is Effectuation Theory Account For Marketing...

The number of possible outcomes are infinite, with the tools readily available, which is incredibly
important if you are a first mover in a market choices made at this stage will set an example that
market space, and quality to match for others.
Entrepreneurs may have restrictions with tools and resources, yet possess enough flexibility to
experiment in their field. This is not only applicable from a product development standpoint, but
also for marketing decisions. Success is an achievement on the premise that the product/service has
been proved reputable by consumers.
What are the areas of Effectuation theory?
Effectuation is analogous to giving a carpenter a toolbox and some wood and asked to build
whatever he or she chooses as opposed to asking them to build a desk (Sarasvathy, 2001a) the
latter is considered as casual reasoning or causation, where a predetermined goal is provided at the
start with a set of means to an end (Sarasvathy, 2001b). It is, in fact, far more convoluted than
suggested yet the example highlights a key element of effectuation that it demands creative prowess
in the form of imagination, spontaneity, risk taking and salesmanship (Sarasvathy, 2001b).

Pglo Plasmase
Abstract
When trying to transfer several specific plasmids into a new host DNA, you need a way to check
and see if the desired plasmids were combined to the DNA, that s where there pGLO test comes
in. By using an ultraviolet light, a person is able to immediately see if the new plasmids have been
accepted into the bacteria by whether or not a bright green fluorescent light is emitting from the
bacteria. So the process in how pGLO is expressed would be the plasmid itself is extracted from the
A. Victoria, modified and inserted into bacteria with the three genes. The beta lactamase then
comes first, to give it a resistant to the ampicillin antibiotics that would initially kill it. This then

Analysis Of Three Fundamental Assumptions Are Made
Throughout this policy paper, three fundamental assumptions are made:
1.The Murdell Flemming Model is a fundamentally sound method of analysis.
2.A global trend toward liberalization of free trade is both strictly current and strictly relevant to
Chinese economic growth.
3.The power dynamic between host country, home country, and Multinational Corporationis a
driving factor in cross regional mergers and acquisitions and thereby domestic economic growth as
measured by nominal gross domestic product.
The Murdell Flemming Trilemma or Unholy Trinity states that a government can only generate
policy that satisfies two of three general desires; these desires are exchange rate stability, capital
mobility, and domestic monetary autonomy (Cohen, 2010). Concerning the China, the general
international monetary choices should be capital mobility and domestic monetary autonomy. In an
era where multinational corporations are increasingly looking to cross regional mergers and
acquisitions to create value, it is more important than ever for China to retain capital mobility and
domestic monetary autonomy (Cross Regional, 2015). Through an examination of multinational
corporations and domestic monetary policy choices, the need for capital mobility and domestic
monetary autonomy become clear. This need is proven through the effects these policy choices
have on domestic monetary value and the subsequent consequences these effects have on cross
regional mergers and acquisitions. The

The Development Of Enterprise Risk Management Essay
1.3 The Development of Enterprise Risk Management
This section will briefly discuss the development of ERM especially the emerging factors that
influence companies to shift from TRM to ERM. The researchers will discuss both the academic
literature and the role of professional.
(D Arcy, 2001) proposed that the origin of riskmanagement was developed by a group of
innovative insurance professors Robert I. Mehr and Bob Hedges in 1950s . The objective of risk
management at that time was to maximize the productive efficiency of the enterprise. At that time,
risk management was specifically focused on pure risk and speculative risks.
According to (Skipper Kwon, 2007) , in the 1970s, when the Organization of Petroleum Exporting
Countries decided to reduce production in order to increase the price, financial risk management
became an interesting issue highlighted by firms because the increment in oil price has affected the
stability of exchange rates and the inflation rate .
Later in 1980s, political risks attracted more attention from multinational corporations as a result of
different political regimes in different countries. For example, when the government announced a
new policy, investors and corporations must make decisions to reduce political risk (Skipper Kwon,
2007). According to (D Arcy, 2001) during that era, organizations did not properly apply risk
management because they did not apply the risk management tools and techniques such as options.

Basswood was popular around the 80 s and favored among shredders for its ability to produce
smooth sounds deprived of sharp edges. The light color and almost non existent grain pattern
make this wood great for solid colors or backing a figured top. It is stiff, lightweight, and very
stable making it very popular among builders in the industry. Overall basswood is growly, with a
warm tone and nice mids.
Within the guitar industry there are two widely used types of Ash, there s Northern Ash and Swamp
Ash, Swamp ash typically comes from the Southern Parts of America. Their root systems grow
under water, ultimately lightening the wood and adding stiffness. Swamp Ash is highly resonate

The Loved One
Waugh s satirical novel, The Loved One, follows the lives of Dennis Barlow, an Englishman, and
AimГ©e Thanatogenos and Mr. Joyboy Americans each a mortician in his or her own regard.
Through his satirical style, characterization and setting, and abrupt transitions, Waugh comments on
the self serving tendencies of humans and the drastic consequences those can have. Through the
interactions of Englishmen and Americans, Waugh depicts the cultural differences between those
from his home country of England and America. Finally, set against the backdrop of two
cemeteries, Waugh entangles death in each character s lives, with many encountering it or
succumbing to it throughout the course of the novel. Waugh fixation on death is not limited to...

Barlow is established as the selfish character, and his response to Thanatogenos death is no
exception. Barlow takes advantage of the fact that Thanatogenos was last engaged to Joyboy.
His repeated use of your creates a tone of seriousness, but also reinforces the fact that he has
completely shifted the blame, along with his feelings for Thanatogenos off to Joyboy.
Additionally, prior to meeting with Joyboy, Barlow is confronted by Abercrombie and is asked
by the Cricket Club to leave for England, all expenses paid. Regardless, taking advantage of
Joyboy s need to explain the disappearance of Thanatogenos, Barlow demands the expenses
needed to create a cover up in which he and Thanatogenos elope to England. Joyboy, his career
threatened and his love gone, accepts and surrender s his life savings to Barlow. Waugh makes
Barlow s demands forceful and dispassionate, further distancing himself from Thanatogenos and
making the reader wonder whether his love was genuine, a sentiment which was brought into
question frequently. Finally, Barlow is seen as the greedy opportunist throughout the novel. He
stays true to his character until the end of the story, essentially conning Joyboy out of his money.
Waugh ends the novel in the same cynical style he employs for the majority of the novel, using his
cynicism and satire to show how greedy

Freed African Americans During The Civil War
The southern states of the United States of America were outraged when Abraham Lincoln was
elected the President. South Carolina was the first state to secede and six more states Florida,
Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana followed shortly afterwards, creating the
Confederate States. In one of Lincoln s addresses, which outlined that his main priority was to
maintain the Union, did not impress the Confederacy and on April 12, the Confederacy attacked
Fort Sumter, a federal stronghold in Charleston, South Carolina. The Federal troops returned the
fire, thus starting the Civil War. As the Civil War continued on, African Americans were biding
their time, waiting for the perfect moment to flee their masters. Many did, making... Show more

Unfortunately there was still some uneasiness about African Americans in combat. Some white
soldiers did not even want to fight alongside with the African Americans against the Confederate
Army. Some of the commanding officers of the Colored Troops complained about the lack of
training of the African Americans. But the African Americans were eager to fight and prove
themselves as worthy men who can fight for the country. Some officers were quite happy to arm
African Americans. In September 1863, G.E. Hystums wrote that arming his fellow African
Americans would erase that semblance of inferiority of our race, which cruel slavery has
created he also predicted if there is one spark of manhood running in the blood of the Race that
has resisted the... waves of oppression, the school of the soldiers will fan it to a glowing flame.
The 52nd U.S Colored Infantry begged their lieutenant not to surrender and so they did not, and
they managed to hold off the Confederates for three hours. The 1st U.S Colored Infantry
performed quite well in their first battle, many of them got so excited and earnest that they would
stand right up on the rifle pits regardless of exposure. This may imply that the African American
soldiers were a bit reckless but they were eager to serve. During their first major engagement at the
Battle of Port Hudson on May 27 1863, the 1st and 3rd Louisiana

Compare and contrast The Echoing Green with The Schoolboy by
Compare and contrast The Echoing Green with The Schoolboy by
William Blake
Both The Echoing Green and The Schoolboy are classed under the section, Songs of Innocence ,
which at first suggests that they will be of a similar nature. However this presumption is dispelled
early on, as one examines the issues behind the often comparable wording.
Many elements in The Schoolboy do echo those in The Echoing Green and visa versa, but the
atmospheres of each poem that are presented are so different that it becomes difficult to see how
two such contrasting pieces of work can unite in the same genre.
The Echoing Green is one of Blake s most idyllic poems, as it is set in a pastoral and carefree
atmosphere, which centres ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using the image of a summer morn in the first stanza, Blake creates a tranquil and untainted
atmosphere, and descriptions such as birds sing and the distant huntsman winds his horn add an
auditory element in an almost identical way to the previous poem. However the serene scene
does not continue into the second verse, where the tone changes and Blake describes how having
to go to school ruins such a beautiful day: it drives all joy away . The use of the word drives is
quite strong and terminates the flowing nature of the previous verse, and the repetition of a summer
morn allows one to contrast the two verses.
From hence forward, The Schoolboy continues with a fairly negative tone, switching from the first
person, I drooping sit to a more philosophical stance towards the end, How shall we gather what
griefs destroy? . The stoical conclusion I feel demonstrates the implications of education, and
shows that, if buds are nipped , one not only damages childhood but also runs the risk of
establishing a long term effect on the individual, later on in life.
Both poems use time to illustrate the changing nature of the individuals, but even this is performed
in very different ways. The increasing darkness of The Schoolboy could be seen as
representational of the changing seasons, adding to the aspect of the natural world in the poem,
especially as the final verses

Huntington s Theory Of The Clash Of Civilization By Samuel...
The clash of civilization is a theory by Samuel Huntington. In this theory, Huntington claims that the
clash is inevitable. There is a new world order we are facing that include major civilization,
fighting for their cultural existence. On the other hand, many scholars opposed Huntington s theory
about the clash of civilization some of them called him a great theorist using recycled conflicts as a
method. In this paper, I will summarize Huntington theory and ideology and I will show why I
think Fukuyama was right.
Huntington s main idea is that the fundamental source of conflict between civilization will not be
primarily ideological or economic, Huntington believes that the conflict will be based on cultural
differences which will separate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conflict is becoming more cultural but we cannot make one democratic entity called the west
and make it as a dominate system and force its values and liberalism on other countries. These
kinds of attempt were tried in Vietnam back in the 60 s, when the United Statestried to enforce its
liberal democratic system on communistic system. Another example of the failure of enforcing the
Western values and culture is the second invasion of Iraq in 2001, The united states tried to make
Iraq a democratic entity. As Fukuyama claimed, the traditional existence of civilizations is
threatened by modernization. In that case, other civilization will develop much deeper hate and
dislike towards one dominant democratic entity called the West.(Fukuyama, 2001)

Rhetorical Analysis of Andrew Shepherd s Speech in Movie,...
A president has to have character, right? I mean, if the leader of the free world has no substance,
nothing special about him, then how do we as citizens know that he is capable as far as foreign
policies go. How do we know that we can trust him to make wise decisions? How do we know that
he will tell us the truth? This concept is exactly what fictional president Andrew Shepherd
successfully conveys in his Address to the Press on Bob Rumson and the Crime Bill. In the movie,
The American President, Andrew Shepherd becomes romantically involved with crime bill lobbyist
Sydney Ellen Wade. Many characters, including Bob Rumson, believe that the relationship between
Shepherd and Wade is hindering the advancement of the country. They... Show more content on

The Constitution is the very first concrete document that lasted in this country. It was made by the
very first citizens and it was made with pride. Before the constitution came to life the United States
was looked upon, by many nations, similarly to a child attempting to grow up too fast. Great
Britain, the country that the constitution freed us from, did not think the United States was going to
make it alone. Great Britain was right. The United States could not make it alone. The United States
needed something to help it along. They needed the constitution. Because of this strong link
between the constitution and the survival of the United States, many patriots, including Shepherd,
have an emotional attachment to the constitution. Because of that link many patriots perceive
attacks on the constitution as personal attacks. In this excerpt from the speech, Shepherd is found
attacking Rumson by using one of the most powerful emotional strategies, appealing to ones sense
of patriotism. He questions Rumson s national pride by saying that Rumson doesn t support the
Constitution. What true patriot wouldn t love and support the reason that this country exists? In
that same swift action, Shepherd affirms his own image as a patriot. I am a card carrying member of

Harper Lee wrote it well, you never truly understand a person until you climb inside his skin and
walk around in it. Imagine the whole world was flipped, and being homosexual was the norm and
heterosexuality was considered abnormal. By the standards of the church you were disowned and

After presenting the evidence from both perspectives, I will then evaluate whether the legalisation
of gay marriage can be seen as a step towards considerable social change or if the evidence given
aligns more thoroughly with the arguments of cultural conflict. Unquestionably based upon the
acquired research, it can be seen that Marriage Equality is an inevitable social change to come in
the following years in Australian society.
(__)
Gay Marriage in the past few years has been a topic that has been highly debated and discussed. As
with any controversial issue, there are two sides to this argument. One side, the opposition, cites
religious view points and concerns about fornication and further raisse concerns that the rights of
marriage should be restricted to heterosexual couples (Debate.org). An increasing number on this
side of the argument have recently changed their opinions over the last few years as a result of
mounting pressure from LGBTI groups. People supporting marriage equality assert that marriage is
a civil right and therefore should not have restrictions based on sexual orientation. This side firmly
believes that love, not sexual orientation, is grounds enough for marriage (Debate.org). The
supporting side seems to be the populist view point, as evidenced from the recent changes of law in
some of the most prominent countries in the world, such as America.

Fidot Ivanovich Shubin Research Paper
During the 18th century Russia had a large variety in artists. One of the greatest artists during this
century was Fidot Ivanovich Shubin, who lived between 1740 and 1805. Since Western European
culture was becoming more influential, Shubin, like many other artists, traveled to Europe to study.
When he returned from Europe, he created one of his most well known works, which is a bust of
Prince Alexander Golitsyn, who was a diplomat during the reign of Catherine the Great (Fedot
Ivanovich Shubin, Rusartist.org., n.d.).
The 19th century also brought many artists, but there was one in particular who is considered to be
Russia s first Romantic artist. (Famous Russians Artists, Tristarmedia, 2003). Karl Brullov, who
lived between 1799 and 1852,

The Problem Of Teenage Pregnancy
Like Amy and Loeber (2009), when it comes to the ecological paradigm of teenage pregnancy,
Corcoran, Franklin, and Bennett (2000) also believe one s socioeconomic status is a huge factor
that contributes to this problem. A person s socioeconomic status a lot of times determines
education, expanded family size, single parent household structure, and lessened resources in terms
of employment and income. These three authors claim that educational performance and goals
dictate the potential costs of child bearing at a young age. Their studies have also shown that
teenage girls relationships with the school setting and poorer performance in school serve a greater
risk for adolescent pregnancy. Corcoran, Franklin and Bennett (2000) confirm, being part of a
single parent household seems to act as a risk factor for early pregnancy. Among singe parent
households, conflict within the family, stress, and less monitoring and control of children occurs,
which the authors say can increase the risk of teen pregnancy. In addition, teenagers experiencing
family problems might be more at risk for influence by a negative peer group that could
potentially lead to motherhood at an early age. They also claim support is indicated for parental
control over teen activities as a protective factor against teenage pregnancy that a lot of times isn t
found in single parent homes.
Bentham (2012) not only considers a dysfunctional home background, but also inadequate parenting

The Genetic Code Essay
In the year of 1920 a theory created by two different scientists was born, Russian Scientist/Chemist
A.I.Oparin and an English Geneticist J.B.S both developed this theory known as The Primordial
Soup Theory . This theory basically states that all life 3.8 3.5 billon years ago came from a tiny
puddle filled with amino acids and elements from Earth s atmosphere. An experiment to test this
theory was called Miller Urey experiment courtesy of scientist Stanley Miller and Harold Urey. In
this experiment the two used electric shocks/charges and were able to birth organic mixtures

Anyways this RNA world theory claims that RNA is the origin of all living organisms on planet
earth. Even though there is no experiment to back this hypothesis there is however research and
claims in Carl Woese s book by the name of The Genetic Code . RNA is a protein also known as
ribonucleic acid, both RNA and DNA house tons of our (human beings) genetic codes. Seeing
that the theory says that it might not be the exact origin of life on earth it stilled played a part in
evolution. Also recent cells and those that came before it were said to have evolved and bonded
with enzyme compound to make a unit. Enzymes bonded with RNA were stated that they made
a system which stored and created life and evolved. Community Clay Hypothesis states that
biological (living) organisms have ties to being evolved from clay. Hyrdogel clay (water
substance clay) was believed to have formed over billions of years consisting chemicals that were
confined and begun to produce biological matter of dioxyribose nucleic acid (DNA) and forms of
proteins. These chemicals were said to have had evolved and to have made complicated biological
structures/materials. Sadly there s no evidence in the form of experiment to back this claim up but
further studies are showing that this theory might have some potential in the

The Jena Six were six black teenagers in Jena, Louisiana indicted in the 2006 beating of Justin

was harmed on December 4, 2006 by the individuals from the Jena Six, and got treatment at a

accused at first of as well genuine offenses and had been dealt with unjustifiably. Various
occasions had occurred in and around Jena in the months prior to the Barker ambush, which the
media have connected with a claimed acceleration of nearby racial strains. These occasions
incorporated the hanging of rope nooses from a tree in the secondary school patio, two brutal
showdowns in the middle of white and black young people, and the decimation by flame of the
fundamental working of Jena High School. Broad news scope identified with the Jena Six

recommended to elevate the bed to 30 45 degrees to improve ventilation. Patients that lay in the

those laying at more of an angle (Institute for Healthcare Improvement, 2012). In regards to
positioning, when the least damaged portion of the lung is placed in a dependent position it
receives preferential blood flow. This redistribution of blood flow helps match ventilation and
perfusion, therefore, improving gas exchange (Lough, Stacy Urden, 2010). Implementing these
interventions combined with respiratory therapy, significantly improved the blood gas values
for oxygen and carbon dioxide levels. Pressure ulcers are key clinical indicators of the standard

  • 2. Patrick Suskind s Perfume Character Analysis Patrick SГјskind s seminal 1985 novel, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, achieves that rare feat of creating a main character who is both the protagonist and antagonist or in another phrase an anti hero. The novel discusses the life of Grenouille who became an infamous criminal who lived in the significant change and unrest in Paris in 18th century France and had experienced life chiefly through his highly developed sense of smell. SГјskind s did a marvelous job in using personality traits that can be easily be distinguished to an actual serial killer. He has also been more in depth within Grenouille s personality by adding common mental disabilities and psychological abuse that the majority of infamous killers faced throughout their lives.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without bearing an odor, he was titled as unidentified and abominable. This led him the absence for someone to guide him and comprehending the difference of what is considered morally right or wrong. However, unlike Grenouille, Ed Gein isolation was due to the fault of parental guidance. Gein lived a repressive and solitary life on his family homestead with a weak brother, violent unemployed alcoholic father, and domineering mother. His mother, moved into a desolate location to prevent outsiders from influencing her sons. ( Ed Gein: Real American Psycho. Ed Gein: Real American Psycho.) Gein only left the premises to go to school and she blocked any attempt he made to pursue friendships. The mother, who was a fanatical Lutheran, drummed into her boys the innate immorality of the world, the evil of drink and the belief that all women (herself excluded) were prostitutes and lubricious. When she died, her son was a thirty nine year old bachelor, still emotionally enslaved to the woman who had tyrannized his life. (Ed Gein Biography and Crime Scene Photos. Wisconsin Sickness.) In addition, Both Gien and Grenouille also had the capability to manipulate others, one of the main symptoms that each sociopath carry. Grenouille manipulated Baldini so he can stay and work with him. He also manipulated the public and the government to pardon his crimes and Laure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Subprime Mortgage Crisis The Subprime Mortgage crisis ECO 2072 Principles of Macroeconomics In the beginning One of the first indications of the late 2000 financial crisis that led to downward spiral known as the Recession was the subprime mortgages; known as the mortgage mess . A few years earlier the substantial boom of the housing market led to the uprising of mortgage loans. Because interest rates were low, investors took advantage of the low rates to buy homes that they could in return flip (reselling) and homeowners bought homes that they typically wouldn t have been able to afford. High interest rates usually keep people from borrowing money because it limits the amount available to use for an investment. But the creation of the subprime mortgage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Risky Business Around 2006 the price of houses began to fall substantially fast. The oversupply of houses and lack of buyers pushed the house prices down until they really plunged in the late 2006 and early 2007 (The Subprime Mortgage Crisis Explained). These actions threw investors into a big dilemma. In the beginning they believed buying the mortgages would bring them a profit, but quickly realized that the mortgages would cost them more financial damage than reselling the homes. Nationwide, home vales have declined about 16% since the summer of 2006 and experts project that the drop will continue until homes have lost about 25% of their value (Biroonak, 2008). In other words mortgage homes are underwater , that is, the mortgage owed equals or exceeds the value of the house (Biroonak, 2008). Investors and homeowners started to go more in debt trying to pay off their original debts. With all of the incentives and mortgage products given so easily to people that couldn t afford the high prices (including interest rates), many people defaulted on their first mortgages because they were no longer were able to receive the profit from the homes they first intended to flip. During the first quarter of 2008, nearly 9% of all mortgage holders were delinquent or in foreclosure, the highest rate since recordkeeping began in 1979. Foreclosure filings more than ... • 4. Essay about Eva Peron Maria Eva Duarte was born on May 7, 1919 in Los Toldos Argentina. She was the youngest illegitimate child of Juan Duarte and his mistress Juana Ibarguen. Eva had a difficult childhood, her father had his own wife and children, and he gave Juana s Ibarguen children his last name and would visit them once in a while. When Eva was seven her father died living them in very poor conditions, all the family, her mother and the five children lived in a tiny one room and in order to pay the rent and have something to eat Eva s mother her sisters and herself had to work as cook s for a rich and powerful family in Los Toldos. He invited the most popular stars to participate; Eva Duarte was among them and helped aid the needy. On the 22 of January a festival was held with a great number of actors and actresses, all the benefits were destined for the victims of the earthquake. This was when Colonel Juan Domingo Peron and Eva Duarte met each other. This would be the beginning of a relationship that would leave a great mark in the history of Argentina. Juan Peron had been designated as vice president and Eva had three programs in the Belgrano radio. By now they had a relationship going and many people were not very fond of it. Eva convinced Peron to help the working class and the government did not like this at all. On October 9, something happened that would start a new change in the course of there lives, the president asked Peron to resign, Peron did. And Eva had been fired from the Belgrano radio. This was a moment when Eva would speak for their rights and fight for what she believed was right. So after Peron resigned Eva organized a lot of people who Peron had once helped and asked them that now it was their turn to help Juan Domingo Peron. A lot of people mostly the working class would stand up to the media and had Peron speak in public, by now all the people were supporting him after he had spoken to the crowd and the people were yelling amp;quot;Peron for president amp;quot;. This would be thanks to Eva and to the way she had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Should Children Have Screen Time Although both arguements seem reasonable I feel there should be a screen time limit for children. Being in front of a screen takes children away from human interaction. Children should be playing and using their imagination whether its inside or outside. In personal experiences, screen play takes a mental and physical toll on children. In my personal opinion there is no reason to have children in front of a screen for longer than an hour or two a day. While a childis sitting in front of a screen for hours on end they arent paying any attention to the outisde world or their surroundings. Instead of playing on a tablet or computer or watching t.v they could be playing a board game or reading with family or friends. I can ask my children... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They should be outside playing games and making their own things up. Children need to use their own original thinking and problem solving. This will help their brain developement and skills they will need in life. Screen time is mentally draining for children. The light from the screen throws off our body clocks and can disrupt sleep. When a child doesnt sleep enough they are more irritable and their physical activity level will go down. This can also lead into obesity. Children need physical activity. Whos to say they will go outisde? Well children wont have many options if screen time is taken away. Even if its not outside they will still be doing something other than just sitting on a couch. If a child gets enough sleep they will have the energy to do other things both physically and mentally. Screen play is mentally draining and can cause depression. In my personal experience with my own son screen play causes him depression, especially before bed. What ever he watches or plays the night before interupts his sleep. It also negatively impacts his imagintion, causing him to have night mares. All of this could be avoided if we sat down with our children and read them a book or played a game with them ... • 6. An Analysis Of Gatsby And Quentin And The Great... Jay Gatsby and Quentin Compson come from noticeably different families, but they are similar in more ways than expected. Their similarities are worth examining, despite the few differences between the two, such as their personalities and upbringings. Gatsby and Quentin both have obsessions with the past, the women that they love, as well as a desire to solely possess these women. By considering these characters from Sound and the Fury and The Great Gatsbytogether, important life lessons can be learned. There is no way to recapture the past, despite the amount of effort that is exerted to do so and some dreams are not worth pursuing if they are impractical. Gatsby and Quentin are both similar in their obsession with the past. The first three sections of Sound and the Fury are set up to show that each character figuratively lives in a different time. Benjy sees everything as the present, Jason only focuses on the future, and Quentin lives in the past. He does not simply remember the past occasionally, but Quentin is unable to think about anything but the past. There are constant flashbacks throughout his section to memories of Caddy, his father, and fights. His grandfathers watch becomes a constant reminder of time because of the periodic ticking. Quentin explains, I went to the dresser and took up the watch, with the face still down. I tapped the crystal on the corner of the dresser and caught the fragments of glass in my hand and put them into the ashtray and twisted the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. A Good Man Is Hard to Find by Flannery O’Connor Essay In the short story A Good Man Is Hard to Find, written by Flannery O Connor, the theme that the definition of a good man is mysterious and flawed is apparent. The reader must realize that it is difficult to universalize the definition of a good man because every person goes through different experiences. Thus, these experiences affect his or her viewpoint and in turn flaw ones view on a good man. O Connor conveys this theme through her excellent use of diction, imagery, foreshadowing, and symbolism as well as through a creative use of repetition and an omniscient point of view. The grandmother, the main character of the story, is manipulative. Her definition of a good man refers to the characteristics that a good man should possess.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She [the grandmother] pointed out interesting details of the scenery: Stone Mountain, the blue granite that in some places came up to both sides of the highway; the brilliant red clay banks slightly streaked with purple; and the various crops that made row of green lace work on the ground. The trees were full of silver white sunlight and the meanest of them sparkled. (1286) She uses informal diction to help achieve the targeted theme and her slight use of a southern dialect is one brilliant component that helps her to do so. For example, when the family stops for barbecue sandwiches along their way to Tennessee, the owner s wife compliments the granddaughter. Ain t she cute? Red Sam s wife said, leaning over the counter. Would you like to come be my little girl? (1287). Adding this southern twist of diction as well as the southern setting helps to illustrate the culture the grandmother was raised in. This helps to bridge the gap between what the reader s definition of a good man may be, based off of their cultural upbringing, and the grandmother s definition of a good man. This gap reinforces the O Conner s idea that there cannot be a universal definition of a good man. Imagery is used flawlessly in this short story. O Connor uses descriptive adjectives fairly often to paint a picture in the reader s mind and to add spice to her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Teaching And Learning For Students Many school systems believe that the only effective way for students to learn is through direct instruction. This isn t the only way, but it is the most common way throughout America. Direct instruction is the easiest way for teachers to instruct to a whole group and students are used to this type of instruction. But that style of teaching isn t exactly the best way for students to learn and retain information. One of the most effective ways for students to learn is through differentiated instruction. Differentiated instruction is a framework for effective teaching that involves providing different students with different avenues to learn. This style of instruction allows for the curriculum to adapt to certain needs and interests of individual students. (Bravmann) Making this instruction one of the most effective styles of teaching. It also gives both the teachers and the students more of an opportunity to learn in different ways that will help them to be successful in the long run. Since this type of instruction involves a ton of work many teachers don t use it because they don t have the time but it is really worth the time, especially for the students who don t learn like everyone else when it comes to direct instruction. One of the best examples of differentiated instruction comes from The Ron Clark film which is about who is a man from North Carolina who moved to New York and had the chance to change the lives of students through differentiated instruction. • 9. How Peacekeeping Operations Evolved Over Time Essay International peacekeeping efforts are a relatively new feature in military strategy. They have their roots in earlier conflicts, most notably the First Schleswig War between Denmark and Prussia in 1849 1850. A combined force of 3,800 troops from both Sweden and Norway with the intent of maintaining law and order and keeping the peace were assembled, while an armistice was worked out. This set the precedent for peacekeepingoperations that would become more commonplace in the twentieth century. After the First World War , the League of Nations was established, the predecessor of what would later become the United Nations. The League was established in large part to hopefully avoid another world war as devastating as the Great War, as it was called. The League of Nations ultimately disbanded, giving way to the United Nations, but peacekeeping operations increased and evolved to encompass broader and more complex conflicts, including civil wars, which were ignored by the League out of respect for a nation s sovereignty. This brief summary will address how peacekeeping operations evolved over time and how these operations, or a specific operation, shapes the view of peacekeeping operations by the American people. The League of Nations was established as a means to ensure international peace and security through collective consultation and action. The early peacekeeping operations largely depended on precedents, which established the rules and strategies to be followed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. What Is Joan Of Arc Essay Joan of Arc (born Jeanette d Arc) was a saint and the national heroine of France in the early 1400 s Joan was born on January 6th 1412, during the Hundred Year War. She became a brilliant war leader and singlehandedly led a disheartened French nation against British rule. She claimed she heard voices and that these voices were of St. Michael, St Catherine and St. Margret, Joan believed that the voices delivered messages from God. This eventually become her downfall which led to her being burned at the stake and accused of being a witch. Herein then lies the conundrum, was she killed because the people believed that she was a witch or was the reason more because she was fast becoming a threat to male rule? Before Joan was born the English wanted a duel monarchy over both France and England this led to the Hundred Years War which hugely affected Joan s life when Joan was born this was almost a reality. Joan and her parents (Jaques D Arc and Isabelle De Vouthon) lived comfortably as peasants in the French village of DomrГ©my and Joan spent her childhood learning housekeeping skills, attending her father s cattle and sheep and Catholicism. At the age of 12 Joan started to hear voices that she believed were messages from God that told her to reclaim France from English rule and to lead the Dauphin, Charles VII, to his coronation in Rheims.... • 11. Pros And Cons Of King Cobra The dense forest is wet and hot, and tensions are rising. A small Indian gray mongoose, no bigger than a cat, is choosing to fearlessly challenge a humongous king cobra, which can potentially grow to record breaking lengths. The winner seems obvious, but both sides have several advantages, and there have been studies about this question. There are seemingly endless possibilities of what could happen. However, if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to engage in a fight, then I believe that the mongoose would win because of so many advantages. Many support the mongoose, and many support the cobra. Either way, there are many pieces of evidence that support the mongooses many advantages. To begin, the mongoose has great attacking abilities... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That is very true, but easily disproven. Klum (2001) states that the cobra can produce startling amounts of neurotoxin. However, the mongoose has thick fur, and the cobra has short fangs, so injecting the cobra s toxic venom will be a challenge. According to Campbell (2015), cobras can flatten their necks into a hood when threatened. However, the mongoose has the ability to fight snakes, so it will know what the cobra is doing. Klum (2001) also states that the cobra can stand up like a man in a terrifying pose. That is correct, but to the mongoose, size does not matter. It will fearlessly go up against even the biggest, most intimidating snakes as if it were the size of itself. The mongoose easily matches up with three of the cobras deadliest advantages. To conclude, many pieces of evidence show that in the epic battle of cobra versus mongoose, the mongoose would win, no contest because the cobra cannot even compare to the amazing mongoose. At this point, it is obvious that if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to engage in a fight, the mongoose would win because of all of its advantages. Now we all know that a tiny mongoose can beat and kill a ferocious cobra, proving that size does not matter, in most scenarios, at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Black Panther s Last Letter To His Father Dear Mr. O leirin, I am a civilian in Wakanda writing on behalf of the Black Panther to nominate him as a Nobel prize candidate for morality. I feel he should win the award because he possesses loyalty, confidence, leadership and cooperation, as he is one of the most known superhumans (compound). In my mind these these three virtues make him as deserving as anyone. The Black Panther is a great leader of Wakanda, he serves his people very well, but he is also a great warrior. (C C) His father, the former King of Wakanda was killed in a bombing a few months ago, so he has taken on a tough task. The person who set the bomb off is called the Winter Soldier. Because the Winter Soldier killed his dad, the Black Panther stopped at nothing to avenge his father s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everyone knows how feared the Winter Soldier is but the Black Panther would stop at nothing to catch him, which leads me to my first virtue, loyalty. The Winter Soldier has killed thousands of people before and is nothing but bad to this world. The only problem is, nobody has ever tried to stop him, until now. The Black Panther is loyal to his father. Like I said the Winter Soldier is very dangerous, the Black Panther faced him without second guessing it, which leads me to my second virtue, confidence. The Black Panther explodes with confidence because he is highly trained (Complex). Even then, that does not give everyone else to want to face the Winter Soldier. • 14. Greed And Regret In W. Jacobs The Monkey s Paw W. W. Jacobs The Monkey s Paw contains many themes throughout its story; Greed and Regret being the most critical and strong, the author writes about these polarising themes to connect many others. You will notice that the characters Mr White , Herbert White and Major Morris are the best characters to show the theme of Greed as I will explain. The author begins with telling about a game of chess with Mr White and his son, a game within which he possesses ideas involving radical change ; Mr White plays in a cocky way by putting his king into such sharp and unnecessary perils , and notices his evident defeat. By Mr White underestimating and disrespecting his young son, he shows his greed at play on the table of chess. When Major Morris enters the scene, the conversation in the room shifts to his... Major Morris later casts the Monkey s Paw into the fire hoping to protect from its evils, but Mr White does not realise the true results of the wishes and takes the paw for himself. I find out later about what grievances the Monkey s Paw brings to the family thus being the result of Major Morris greed. In the case of Herbert White, he shows his greed through winning his way to being the man of the house instead of his dad. When he asks his father to wish for being an emperor so he can t be henpecked or when he asks If you only cleared the house, you d be quite happy, wouldn t you? Herbert is attacking his father s weak points, showing a sign of greed for status in the house and above his father. Concluding, W. W. I was walking alone a week prior after meeting up with some of my students that I tutor when I got a call from my old art professor. I took me back to when I started learning the wonder and culture behind art. • 17. The Play Oppenheimer Follows The Story Of J Robert... The play Oppenheimer follows the story of J Robert Oppenheimer and his colleagues on their journey to discover and invent the atomic bomb. As the book is about the creation of this atomic weapon, the entirety of it relates to morals in some shape or form. Throughout the reading of the play I kept thinking about the moral implications of the work they were doing and what might each individual character be thinking of it. There were two parts of the play that made me really come up with this question in particular. The first was in chapter 22 Hiroshima, when it was talking about the bombing of Hiroshima. That whole page was very eye opening to think how so many people died, even though it helped many more in the end, for those people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I can agree with the idea that basing actions on morals can help to ensure that people are not being irrational in their thought processes and that people s needs are more likely put ahead of individual wants. If morals were not involved, then decisions would most likely be made depending on what would advance the position of that person the most or on other selfish wants. At the same time, without morals being looked at, many lives could be lost because there is no clear way to judge things and come up with an agreement. Without morals, it can be extremely tough to figure out right from wrong and how a group or individual should act. Conversely, by looking at it from the perspective that morals should not be the basis of decision making, you can see that if we don t use them, then many people can get hurt as a result. If people make choices without thinking of the consequences or about what is important to them and the people around them, the wrong choice may be made. While morals shouldn t be the only thing considered, they must be taken into account to ensure the right things are being done. If we only base our actions on morals, then some very important past discoveries may not have been made. If people only consider morals than not only will decisions be biased as each person has different morals, but many things in history may not have been accomplished. In an interview, Otsuka said, I saw parallels between the treatment of the Japanese after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the public scrutiny and surveillance under which Muslim Americans struggled in the past decade. Thousands of Japanese women immigrated to the U.S as a result of the Omiai custom. Second what the Southern Kingdom here means? Third what an exile is and what led to the causes of the exile of southern kingdom? And finally the Conclusion. First, the Divided Kingdom. From studies, the Old Testament and other sources have it that not long after the reign of Saul, David, and Solomon the Kingdom of Israel was divided into two kingdoms. Despite warnings from many prophets, both kingdoms repeatedly turn from God. The Divided Kingdom, of the South and North, period follows the continuing story of Scripture in the books of 1 Kings (chapters 11 22) and 2 Kings. And this period is recounted in three acts: the division of the kingdom, the resulting northern kingdom (which takes Israel ), and the resulting southern kingdom (which takes the name Judah. ). Assyria and Babylon force the divided kingdoms into exile. Jerusalem and the Temple are destroyed. Second, the Southern Kingdom. The Southern Kingdom (Judah) is one of the divided kingdom after the reign of King Solomon s United Kingdom ruled by king Rehoboam. According to J. T. The primary reason why this can be deadly is by cutting profit margins thinner and thinner. Ultimately price is what sells and item and not quality, especially if the quality is marginal. You don t have to go far to see this classical struggle. Gas stations are a prime example of one upmanship. Profit margins on gas are noted to be very thin. If you consider gas station prices on neighboring stations, they are typically very close if not the same. These stations have effectively locked themselves into a commitment to match or exceed their competitor s price in order to draw higher sales, because ultimately what sells gas at neighboring gas stations is the best price. 3.What actions would you recommend over the next five years that would help Gillette maintain its worldwide dominance in the shaving market? It is resistant to change and only used in formal written or spoken language (Wolfram Schilling, 2016). Effectuation is analogous to giving a carpenter a toolbox and some wood and asked to build whatever he or she chooses as opposed to asking them to build a desk (Sarasvathy, 2001a) the latter is considered as casual reasoning or causation, where a predetermined goal is provided at the start with a set of means to an end (Sarasvathy, 2001b). Pglo Plasmase Abstract When trying to transfer several specific plasmids into a new host DNA, you need a way to check and see if the desired plasmids were combined to the DNA, that s where there pGLO test comes in. By using an ultraviolet light, a person is able to immediately see if the new plasmids have been accepted into the bacteria by whether or not a bright green fluorescent light is emitting from the bacteria. So the process in how pGLO is expressed would be the plasmid itself is extracted from the A. Victoria, modified and inserted into bacteria with the three genes. • 36. Analysis Of Three Fundamental Assumptions Are Made Throughout this policy paper, three fundamental assumptions are made: 1.The Murdell Flemming Model is a fundamentally sound method of analysis. 2.A global trend toward liberalization of free trade is both strictly current and strictly relevant to Chinese economic growth. 3.The power dynamic between host country, home country, and Multinational Corporationis a driving factor in cross regional mergers and acquisitions and thereby domestic economic growth as measured by nominal gross domestic product. The Murdell Flemming Trilemma or Unholy Trinity states that a government can only generate policy that satisfies two of three general desires; these desires are exchange rate stability, capital mobility, and domestic monetary autonomy (Cohen, 2010). Concerning the China, the general international monetary choices should be capital mobility and domestic monetary autonomy. In an era where multinational corporations are increasingly looking to cross regional mergers and acquisitions to create value, it is more important than ever for China to retain capital mobility and domestic monetary autonomy (Cross Regional, 2015). Through an examination of multinational corporations and domestic monetary policy choices, the need for capital mobility and domestic monetary autonomy become clear. This need is proven through the effects these policy choices have on domestic monetary value and the subsequent consequences these effects have on cross regional mergers and acquisitions. The ... The Development Of Enterprise Risk Management Essay 1.3 The Development of Enterprise Risk Management This section will briefly discuss the development of ERM especially the emerging factors that influence companies to shift from TRM to ERM. The researchers will discuss both the academic literature and the role of professional. (D Arcy, 2001) proposed that the origin of riskmanagement was developed by a group of innovative insurance professors Robert I. Mehr and Bob Hedges in 1950s . The objective of risk management at that time was to maximize the productive efficiency of the enterprise. At that time, risk management was specifically focused on pure risk and speculative risks. According to (Skipper Kwon, 2007) , in the 1970s, when the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries decided to reduce production in order to increase the price, financial risk management became an interesting issue highlighted by firms because the increment in oil price has affected the stability of exchange rates and the inflation rate . Later in 1980s, political risks attracted more attention from multinational corporations as a result of different political regimes in different countries. For example, when the government announced a new policy, investors and corporations must make decisions to reduce political risk (Skipper Kwon, 2007). According to (D Arcy, 2001) during that era, organizations did not properly apply risk management because they did not apply the risk management tools and techniques such as options. Many elements in The Schoolboy do echo those in The Echoing Green and visa versa, but the atmospheres of each poem that are presented are so different that it becomes difficult to see how two such contrasting pieces of work can unite in the same genre. By using the image of a summer morn in the first stanza, Blake creates a tranquil and untainted atmosphere, and descriptions such as birds sing and the distant huntsman winds his horn add an auditory element in an almost identical way to the previous poem. The use of the word drives is quite strong and terminates the flowing nature of the previous verse, and the repetition of a summer morn allows one to contrast the two verses. From hence forward, The Schoolboy continues with a fairly negative tone, switching from the first person, I drooping sit to a more philosophical stance towards the end, How shall we gather what griefs destroy? . The stoical conclusion I feel demonstrates the implications of education, and shows that, if buds are nipped , one not only damages childhood but also runs the risk of establishing a long term effect on the individual, later on in life.
