One such project, called Solarize Uganda Now, provides stable, safe power to schools which allows for expanded study hours. This benefits the estimated 50% of Uganda's population that is under 15. Rotary projects invest in the local economy by training and hiring local workers and supporting sustainability.

Kawano was captain of the rugby team and student council co-president, while Barrow played golf and hockey, leading various teams as captain. Both students worked hard throughout their high school careers to earn these awards. Coaches and volunteers were also recognized at the ceremony for their contributions to the school's sports programs and artistic activities.

An honor roll was shown for all the students receiving A grades for all classes as well as those achieving perfect attendance. The highest achievers were also presented with scholarships towards their school fees.

Additionally, an Indian school implemented rooftop rainwater harvesting which reduced water scarcity and absenteeism by providing a reliable source of clean drinking water at the school.

UWATX's Volunteer Project Leader program graduated more than 40 local middle school students graduated this year. These students completed 18 projects and gave 865 hours of service back to their own communities.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was founded in 1833 in Paris, France to help the poor. It later spread to the United States, with the first Alameda County chapter opening in 1882. Now there are 42 chapters in Alameda County providing services like a free dining room serving 1000 meals per day and a culinary training program. Volunteers are essential, with 2000-3000 volunteering annually. The organization helps the homeless and those in poverty by meeting basic needs and promoting self-sufficiency.

DERMIS is a proposed dynamic emergency response management information system that aims to address challenges in coordinating emergency response efforts. Project outcome, challenges & sustainability • New PSF gives access to safe water to 50 families • Pond Deepening improves access, quality and quantity of water to over 100 families • Increased pond sized will also increase fish cultivation – aquaculture – a key objective of Renaissance (partner charity) • CAD created awareness of safe drinking water, arsenic and waterborne diseases • Community raised a percentage of the funds to create a sense of ownership. • Youth Club heavily involved in collecting money and will initiate a management community post construction

- 19. Sanitation and Hygiene Problems in South West • Very poor area – many families unable to afford or upkeep a sanitary latrine • Climate – large amount of flooding means water can become unsanitary • Lack of awareness about the importance of hygiene • Lack of education about sanitation
- 22. Latrine installations • In total 35 latrines were installed during cycle two. In Santoshpur 14 latrines (including one disabled), Kirttankhali 9 latrines and in Pipradanga 12 latrines. • The families were selected through a combination of using the wealth survey (completed by cycle one) and youth club knowledge. All potential families were visited and extra information was collected before a final decision was made. • The latrine cost was 7000taka, and each family was requested to contribute around 500taka towards their new latrine. This was to ensure ownership and sustainability.

Challenges • Choosing families – many disagreements amongst youth club members about which families were selected • Local disputes about who needed a new latrine • Contribution money – families and youth club members were not happy about the contribution • Demand for latrine engineer – need to install latrines in all three villages with only one available technician
