South African Americans Before European Integration
Europe has been quite successful in integrating its economies because of the various geopolitical
and economic activities. The first and foremost reason is that these countries are small and the
economy of the one country can be integrated with the economy of the other country. Their
integration has been made possible because the aspiration and believe of the different countries are
very much similar. Moreover, their cultural and economic history is moreover same. European
Union as it has been called now has been the most developed model of the regional integration
though challenged by economic crisis now a days.
For the integration, the intersection of the economic need, life style of the people, and size of the
economy must be same. Due to inappropriate way and lack of proper political integration by
countries and surge in the national feeling over the common economic goal of the region has
adversely impacted the area. European unions is comprised of many countries which include

The establishment of Mercosur by signing on the treaty by Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and
Paraguay in 1991 has established the free trade markets but still failed to include other countries in
the region so as to be called the integration of South American economies. Thus, although Mercosur
is an integration effort but has become the group of maximum three to four countries. Moreover the
proposal effort by the Mercosur is not taken by the many other countries and thus it has been
unsuccessful. The development perspective demands that countries should unite to cater the high

The number of unemployed people fell by 33,000 to 2.45 million in the three months to January
(compared with the previous quarter), which is the lowest level for almost a year and the largest
decline over a three–month period for almost three years.
Average weekly earnings also increased during the three–month period up to January 2010, namely
by 1.4% (compared to a year ago), up slightly from 1.2 per cent in the quarter to December. (Roelof
Botha – Macroeconomic report)
Emerging Markets:
Several emerging market economies are expected to return to pre–recession growth trajectories
during 2010, with China and India having defied the global economic downturn altogether.
CHINA
China has been leading the pack of a growing number of emerging markets that are rapidly closing
the GDP gap between developing nations and post–industrial economies.
In mid–March, The World Bank raised its growth forecast for China for 2010 to 9.5%. In November
last year, the bank's forecast for 2010 growth was 8.7%. Other forecasting agencies are even more
optimistic, with the OECD forecasting growth of 10.2% in 2010, dropping marginally to 9.3% in
2011. (www.economist.com)

According to provisional estimates by the IMF, India's GDP recorded a real growth rate of 5.4% in
2009 and the forecasts for 2010 & 2011 are 6.4% and 7.3%,

Globalization Essay
Globalization can be defined as "the development of an increasingly integrated global economy
marked especially by free trade, free flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor
markets" (Webster Dictionary). It brings countries closer together and impacts things such as human
rights, politics, and economics. While Globalization can have positive factors it has its downfalls.
Globalization has effects on human well–being in societies around the globe. This process seems to
only be suitable for the economic world as well as the commercial world. How would increasing
awareness for human rights change anything? "First, the human rights framework adds to
development policy the notion that education, food, adequate housing and ... Show more content on

National governments have at least one major responsibility for their citizens–upholding the security
and economic welfare as well as protecting human rights and the environment within nation's
borders. Due to worldwide ecological changes, political activity increasingly takes place at the
global level. "Under globalization, politics can take place above the state through political
integration schemes such as the European Union and through intergovernmental organizations such
as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the World Trade Organization." (Global
Policy Forum). Who we, as a nation, form an alliance with can be either a negative or positive thing.
It all depends on the goods that get imported from other countries to our nation, although at times
countries do not have to be allies to receive another country's goods. An example of this would be
the United States and China. "Civil society organizations act globally by forming alliances with
organizations in other countries, using global communications systems, and lobbying international
organizations and other actors directly, instead of working through their national governments"
(Global Policy Forum). While it may be alright now there is always the possibility that things can go
south and we lose our imports from any country. In the world of Economics there is always one
root–labor. Countries in the west

The Influence Of Public Architecture In Ancient Rome
From the early Roman Republic, the Roman architectural style began to thrive and it heavily
depended on inspiration from its Greek neighbors. In the early Imperial period however, the
combination of the Greek and Etruscan styles allowed the Romans a chance to achieve true
originality in their constructions, developing large walls with arches and, at a later date, domes. The
subsequent innovation in Roman concrete further allowed for architectural styles in Rome to
expand, granting the development and application of arches and vaulted ceilings.
Public Roman Buildings
The Roman culture invested greatly in, and produced, a great number of public buildings, many of
which being on a grand scale. These public buildings of Rome helped in the fulfilment of three
criteria for the populus Romanus; religious worship, entertainment and political necessities (Barton
1989, 2)

Roman Temples were built for worship of their Gods and Goddesses and were situated in vital

Challenges Of Cfco Roundtables
The outlook for the global economy in the short to medium term is greater uncertainty; fluctuating
energy prices due to surging demand and supply disruptions, large currency fluctuations, commodity
prices rises, public government deficits and cost cutting, inflationary pressures in some countries,
and on–going environmental challenges. All this is taking place against the backdrop of an
inexorable longer term shift of power gravity from west to east, the growth of Brazil, Russia, India
and China (the BRIC countries), which are in turn facing their own growth challenges, and the rise
of new emerging economies. These macro–economic trends have a significant impact on the way in
which businesses operate, the priorities they face, and the strategies they develop to be successful on

2000. The bottom half of the world adult population owned barely 1% of global wealth. In a

owns 48 percent of the global wealth. Later Oxfam reported that the 85 wealthiest individuals in the
world have a combined wealth equal to that of the bottom 50% of the world's population. There is

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESRPONSIBILITY (CSR)
Introduction
Today, the world faces numerous challenges ranging from dreadful environmental conditions
through poverty and human rights, to energy and resource supply issues. Social responsibility policy
focuses on using the capabilities of a business to improve lives and sustain our planet through
contributions to local communities and society at large. In other words, a business should fully
realize it's potential as an organization to make a better world through corporate self–regulation
assimilated into a business module.
CSR and Human Rights The global community expects companies to operate with due admiration
for human rights. Beyond meeting regulatory requirements and social expectations in areas in which
they operate, by proactively presenting more rigorous international standards such as the United
Nations Global Compact, companies will reinforce their commitment to human rights. In 1998 the
Secretary General of the UN, declared that he "was building a more solid relationship with the
business community. Thriving markets and human security goes hand in hand: without one we will
not have the other" (Annan,
1998, p. 1820). Afterwards, a World Economic Forum was held in 1999. At the forum,
Kofi Annan introduced what is known the 'Global Compact'. This is the ten principles agreement

The Pros And Cons Of Investment In Africa
In the early 15th Century (Ming dynasty), China had been undertaking trade activities with Africa,
especially with Eastern Africa, importing ivory, rhinoceros horns, amber, and valuable products and
exporting silk, porcelain, and lacquerware and other treasures. This period of exploration was
followed by several centuries of disengagement.
After the establishment of the People's Republic of China (PRC) in October 1st, 1949, China took a
renewed interest in Africa. They have had to reshape their foreign policy by learning from the
lessons of the past; the neutralism of the Asian and African countries in the Cold War led China to
the Bandung conference in April 1955 in Indonesia. This conference was a third World non–aligned

Overall Economic Performance Of Sweden
2. Overall Economic Performance of Sweden
Sweden is one of the most competitive economies in the European Union, being ranked 2nd in the
Europe 2020 Index of Competitiveness out of 28 European countries (World Economic Forum,
2014). With strong governmental institutions, which deliver high quality social services, and a low
corruption level, Sweden is one of the five European countries closes to fulfilling the Europe 2020
programme goals and scoring at a considerably high level in all three main drivers of growth
(Tilford & Whyte, 2010).
2.1 SMART growth– Enterprise Environment
Firstly, in the SMART growth area, Sweden has been performing generally well, being ranked
second out of 28 countries (World Economic Forum, 2014). As seen in figure 1 below, Sweden's
best perfoming area within the SMART growth criteria is the enterprise environment. Sweden is
ranked among Denmark, Ireland and the UK as one of the top 20 locations in the world to do
business (Tilford & Whyte, 2010). This is reflected in Sweden's increased level of investment in the
recent years compared to Netherlands or Denmark, especially in the service sector (European
Commission, 2016). Also, Sweden is spotted for its friendly environment for new business start–
ups, because the access to obtaining funding from banks for small and medium enterprises (SME) is
higher compared to the EU average rate of 5% (European Commission, 2016). This implies that
banks in Sweden are more willing to provide funds for SME's

Food Waste Of Food
A lot of things go to waste in this day and age; almost every country adds to this. There are needs for
people. That is understandable. However, the United States of America is possibly one of the biggest
contributors to waste in this world; this country dissipates a substantial amount of food, uses an
insane amount of water, and utilizes a significant amount of energy. The first of the wasted items is
food; this country allows a lot of food to go to waste. With the amount of people in this nation, a
large amount of food is needed. With all of that food, a sickening amount of it goes to waste.
According to an article from the EPA official website, "Every year in the United States,
approximately 31% (133 billion pounds) of the overall food supply is wasted" ("America's Food
Waste Problem"). This enormous quantity of food that goes to waste could be used to feed others.
On a side note, the FAO states that, "food waste creates 3.6 billion tons (3.3 billion metric tons) of
greenhouse gases annually, about 7 percent of the total greenhouse gas emissions worldwide"
("Food Waste"). This wasting of food just diminishes the amount of nourishment in the world,
allowing it to rot in landfills and create harmful gases. Some food that is wasted is just discarded
because of how it looks, though. For example, most people do not want to eat bruised fruit, but it is
completely safe. Furthermore, grocery stores might discard of unappetizing produce, or just let it go
to waste. One might argue that food thrown away is inedible and no one would want to eat it.
However, many things that people think of as waste can be reused and made into different things.
For example, from Research In Context, "Leftover bread can be turned into croutons, while
vegetable trimmings can be cooked into a soup" ("Food Waste"). There is almost always a way to
reuse things instead of wasting them; throwing away things that seem useless away is not the answer
to the problem of wasted food. Similar to wasted food, water is something that is taken for granted a
lot in this society. Most of the people in this country have never been without water, so they do not
ever think about how much they use, or what it would be like without it. For instance, the

Mexican Illegal Immigration
Mexican illegal immigration into the U.S. has been prominent since the 1940s. Originally about 4.6
million Mexican immigrants came to the U.S. legally through the Bracero Program between 1942–
1946(Planas, 2014). The program gave Mexican laborers worker visas to come into the U.S. and
work as farm hands. This created circular migration patterns from Mexico to the U.S. that still exist
today(Planas, 2014). However, the Bracero program was terminated due to an influx of illegal
immigrants flooding into the U.S., who too wanted the great pay, but could not manage to get into
the program(Planas, 2014). Today, the Bracero Program is the reason why most of the
undocumented immigrants in the U.S. are from Mexico(Planas, 2014). Later, the Immigration ...

President Trump's goal is to rid the entire nation of undocumented immigrants(Calabresi et al,
2016). Trump plans to send immigrants back to Mexico to wait out the immigration process(Kulish
et al, 2017). However, Mexico did not approve of this plan. Trump is trying to pawn a U.S. problem
on another country, and it is causing tensions to rise. Trump also plans to use expedited removal of
illegal Mexican immigrants. This means he plans to deport people without a judge as extensively as
the law will allow it in order to prevent back log of immigrant cases(Kulish et al, 2017). By
preventing illegal Mexican immigrants from obtaining the necessary wages in order for their
families to be financially stable, the Mexican economy will only plummet more. These people will
continue to live in poverty, and the incentive will be even higher to illegally immigrate to the U.S.. It
also creates the problem for the U.S. with a lack of a blue collar workforce population for the
service economy and agriculture. He also plans on expanding the program 287(g) which, from
2013–2016, led to over 175,000 deportations(Kullish et al, 2017). The program was able to deport
so many people because it used racial profiling. The U.S. has come so far in civil rights and liberties
just to stigmatize Mexican Americans as illegal immigrants. The only beneficial thing Trump has
done in his immigration policy is leave DACA alone.

EU/Japanese Relations Essay
EU/Japanese Relations
When international relations between the world's economic superpowers are mentioned, the first
political/economic bonds that come to ones head are usually the US and Japan and now more often
the US and the EU relationships. The world influence that comes from these two bonds is
substantial, but there is a third relationship that I believe forms a triangle of political/economic
power that stabilizes world politics. Ties between Japan and Europe have been considered relatively
weak compared to those between Japan and the US or the US and Europe, but the policy initiatives
arising from a joint declaration are helping to improve the balance of relations between these three
partners.

Thanks to efforts on both sides, relations between Japan and the EU are basically friendly.
Japan currently accounts for 18% of the world's GDP, and it has a global responsibility to contribute
to the peace and stability of the international community. Combined with the EU, the two account
for 40% of the world's GDP and 10% of the world's population. Both consider the other major
trading partners resulting in close to $150 billion worth in trade between the two. Japan intends to
play an increasingly creative role in the building of a new post–Cold–War international order which
should be based on democratic principles and free and market based economy (Delegation). It is
from that perspective that Japan has been working actively to foster a closer relationship with the
European Union which has an increasing weight in international politics as it continues to grow.
There is an ever widening range of issues on which dialogue and cooperation between the EU and
Japan is required. Be it a global issue such as UN reform, disarmament and nuclear nonproliferation
or a regional problem like the conflict in Bosnia–Herzegovina, development of nuclear capability in
North Korea, and the Middle East peace process, the world's major challenges all merit from the
cooperation of prosperous democracies. In July 1991, the EU and Japan announced the "Joint

Globalization Of Globalization
Is the international political economy more globalized today than in 2000? One could argue that the
groundwork for such a phenomenon has been soundly laid by the post–World War machinations that
generated entities such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. No doubt, events
such as the terror attack, a particularly nasty form of globalization, that occurred on September 11th,
2001, raised awareness of globalization in general as we realized that a plot conceived in
Afghanistan, Germany, and elsewhere could be brought to fruition within our own borders.
(Keohane :2004) Certainly, technological innovations like the smartphone, social media, and e–
commerce have enriched the already fertile global ground that brought forth a level of global
interdependence, shared knowledge, and communication laying the groundwork for what is now
referred to as the age of globalization. (Scholte :2000) However, much of this may have facilitated
the process, but most certainly fueled global perception of the reality of an enmeshed economic,
political, and social system. Whatever the case may be with the preceding, the globalization of
international political economy is evident as problems from weakened states, decreasing political
autonomy, and powerful non–state actors now shape international economic, political, and social
spheres alongside to the consternation of the global political hegemony.

Introduction
Plastics have massive economic effects in a world practically covered by it. Plastics are polymers,
chains of molecules polymerized together. There are two different categories, thermoset which
solidifies irreversibly when the polymer is heated and thermoplastic which soften when exposed to
heat (Halden, 2010). Plastic is a log lived material which can be used for many years yet the highest
uses we have for the material are disposable, such as for packaging. Since 1975 Global plastic
production has increased by 620% (Environment and Climate Change Canada, 2015). This increase
is due to benefits such as cost efficiency, increase in shelf life and protection of products. But do

global community and promote international initiatives and economic cooperation. Since its
inception in 2008, the annual forum has gathered the world's leading academic experts, top level

The United Kingdom And The European Union
The United Kingdom joined the European Union in 1973 for improved economic stability and to
establish themselves as a European power. During World War II the United Kingdom had grown
economically, however after the war, the UK nationalized many core industries such as health care
and it negatively affected the economy (Coricelli). In joining the European Union, the United
Kingdom hoped for investment opportunities in machinery and stability in the economy through
jobs and trading partners (Coricelli). Since joining, the United Kingdom has had a strong foothold

The United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union to curb the large influx of immigration and
ultimately create a more pure form of sovereignty.
The results of the referendum were staggering, as the citizens of the United Kingdom vocalized their
desire for change at the emotional level. People felt as though the European Union, with its relaxed
attitude towards state borders, would open the gate to continuous immigration and taint the cultural
identity of the United Kingdom. Britains in support of Brexit believe in this idea of immigration
being the root of the problem with the EU. In the midst of the financial crash of 2008, the entire
Eurozone has had difficulty getting back off the ground and many of the countries in its borders
turned towards the UK for financial compensation in the form of jobs (Lee). In 2015 the United
Kingdom took about 330,000 new people into the state, living and working among the people
already established there (Lee). A professor at London's School of Economics states in regards to
immigration affecting the Brexit vote, that "there's a feeling that we're losing our cultural identity
and our national identity" he also hypothesizes that so many cultures impending in one place mixed
with an "influx of people willing to work for low wages" drives the above feeling home, into the
lives of native citizens of the UK (Taub). When people who come into the country are willing to

The City Of Pompeii And Pompeii
In ancient Pompeii, there were many important establishments in the Forum. It was seen as the
primal hub of the town, and due to the busy trading nature, a commercial centre for exchanging
foreign goods was a necessity. However in Herculaneum, being a quiet fishing village, the structure
of the Forum would have been very different to that of Pompeii. Most of the Italian municipalities in
their time had a Forum, a square in their town where the political, commercial, and social lives are
all intertwined. Not only did it act as a social meeting place for the residents, but it also functioned
as the primary religious and economic sector of the city. In Pompeii the Forum was a large area
measuring at around 157 by 38 metres, not including all the surrounding buildings (Unfortunately in
Herculaneum, the forum is still uncovered). The Forum was lined with the most important buildings
in the city. (See figure 1) In Pompeii particularly, the forum held the Municipal offices (A), Basilica
(B), Temple of Apollo (C), Forum Olitorium (vegetable market) (C), Latrines (public toilets) (D),
Temple of Jupiter (E), Macellum (marketplace) (F), Temple of the Lares (G), Temple of Vespasian
(I), Building of Eumanchia (J), and a Comitium (voting house) (K). On the western side of the
forum, there is a pedestal, built for outspoken orators. This served as a location where people could

The Court 's Decision On The Systems Of International...
The purpose of this essay is to critically discuss the court's decision in Owusu v Jackson (C–281/02)
and determine the impact of the decision on the systems of international trade. The aim is to
establish how trading partners from different jurisdictions can settle a commercial dispute that may
arise in the course of trade and which county's laws are applicable in international trade disputes.
The issues involving international trade are becoming commonplace due to the effects of
globalisation and the ensuing economic crisis. The handling of these cross–border commercial
disputes takes different shapes depending on the forum in which litigation of the disputes is
conducted. The country of jurisdiction affects the guiding principles and procedures of the
applicable laws and ensuing remedies. Additionally, it influences the schedule and the cost of
litigations hence it has economic and legal consequences. Furthermore, the State in which parties are
domiciled, the location of witnesses, language barriers and international relations undermine
effective handling of cases. As international trade gains its significance due to increasing business
competitiveness the disputes among the trading partners continues to increase due to a breach of
business contracts. The establishment of international trade laws focuses on harmonising
international trade and setting a common mechanism for settlement of the dispute between the
trading countries. The parties may, however, disagree on

Country Team Analysis Paper 2: New Zealand Balance of Payment The balance of payment for New
Zealand is separated into three distinct sections. The sections include the current account, capital
account, and financial account. Each section plays an important role in determining if the balance of
account for a country is positive or negative. To analyze what New Zealand's balance of payment
means to them, each section will be reviewed in detail below. The current account records
transactions that pertain to goods, services, and income receipts (Hill and Hult, 2016). For the year
2015, the current account has a deficit of 8.1 billion dollars, or –3.1 percent when expressed as a
percentage of GDP (Balance of Payments, 2016). The capital account reflects one–time changes in
the stock of assets, while the financial account reflects transactions that involve the purchase or sale
of assets (Hill and Hult, 2016). In New Zealand, the capital account was 383 million in 2015, which
was an increase of over 370 million in 2014. The financial account was –1.47 billion, which was
down over three billion from 2014 (Balance of Payments, 2016). Balance of Payment Situational
Analysis As a whole, New Zealand's current balance of payment situation is not ideal. They have a
negative current account and financial account balance, with the capital balance accounting for
minimal amounts of money in comparison. While there are many steps that can be taken to help

The World Economic Forum ( Wef )
"We have a single mission, to protect and hand on the planet to the next generation," said the
President of France, François Hollande, at the World Economic Forum (WEF). But are humans
acting in order to overcome this mission? Since the new technological and productive developments,
conditioned especially after the First Industrial Revolution, a great charge of harmful impacts was
influencing the sustainability of the planet. However, the casualness that man has undertaken in its
actions towards the environment and even towards his fellow have placed him face to face with an
imminent danger. In this imminent danger, it's possible to highlight the extreme weather events
resulting from environmental disturbances that have been accumulated by the society, and also by
the increasing socio–economic inequalities polarized by economic globalization. In relation to
several climatic manifestations of extreme proportion, it's easy to realize that in a time perspective
the consequences that today seem to be just momentary they actually extend in space and time from
direct or indirect dynamics. That's why for at least three decades, human activity has been the main
factor in climate change because of its greenhouse gas emissions, its growing consumption, and its
energy use.
The largest known contribution in climate change comes from the burning of fossil fuels, which
releases carbon dioxide gas to the atmosphere. With the increase of these gases in the atmosphere,

Manoj Bhargava's Five-Hour Energy Drink
"The world is facing some huge problems. There is a lot of talk about how to solve them. But talk
does not reduce pollution, or grow food, or heal the sick. That takes doing," says Manoj Bhargava,
the founder and CEO of the 5–Hour Energy Drink. Bhargava has restored my faith in humanity. I
learned of his dedication to humanity by preparing an argument about the dangers of his drink and
similar types. I am still not a fan of the 5–Hour Energy Drink but I have become a huge fan of
Bhargava. The most impressive revelation about Bhargava was that his business is a four–billion–
dollar business, and he uses ninety–nine percent of his company's profit to aid humanity. That equals
$3,960,000,000 that he is using to alleviate or at the least minimize the suffering of others. The drive
behind the types of inventions Bhargava's companies are making is compassion and empathy. He is

around the patient's legs and buttocks. These cuffs inflate and deflate at specific times between your
heartbeats. A continuous electro cardiogram (ECG) is used to set the timing so the cuffs inflate while
the heart is at rest, when it normally gets its supply of blood and oxygen. The cuffs deflate at the end
of that rest period, just before the next heartbeat. The special sensor applied to the patient's finger

The Globalization of the World Social Forum Essay
What is globalization to you? Are you in favor of, against, or simply indifferent to globalization? As
we move further into the twenty–first century, we find ourselves easily attracted to catch phrases and
popular movements of the time. In the last ten years, the term "globalization" has emerged as a
buzzword among those in both the economic and social spheres of daily life. Usually, with every
movement comes a form of resistance, therefore, somewhat appropriately, with globalization comes
anti–globalization. Many actors are associated with both the globalization movement and its
opposite, among which are individuals, states, and various organizations. The two actors that most
intrigued and puzzled me were, what seemed to me, to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The WSF, in a span of two years, has mobilized hundreds of thousands of people all over the globe,
towards a movement which originated with the purpose of standing in opposition to the WEF. Since
the first world encounter in 2001, the WSF has evolved into an ongoing global gathering of social
movements, Non–Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and other civil society organizations who
oppose an international neo–liberal economic regime characterized by corporate–led globalization
and economic imperialism, and who come together to propose ideas, deliberate democratically,
formulate alternatives, and share their experiences. It appeared that the WSF was in fact using the
process of globalization itself as their means to combat the WEF. It seemed to me to be too
contradictory not to explore. This led me to ask myself, "Does the World Social Forum, with its aim
to stand in opposition to globalization and the World Economic Forum, in fact actually contribute to
the globalization movement? " This is the question I will be addressing in this paper.
THEORY
Globalization has certainly been among the most widely used – and misused – keywords in disputes
of recent years, and will most likely continue to be during the coming years as well. However, it is
also one of the most rarely defined, the most nebulous and misunderstood, as well as the most
politically effective.

International Governmental Organizations And Organizations
Introduction Other names for intergovernmental companies are international governmental
organizations or intergovernmental organizations. These are organizations that are primarily made
up of the sovereign state that are termed as member states. They may also be made up other
intergovernmental organizations. Intergovernmental companies/intergovernmental organizations are
usually referred to as international organizations; however, the definition may also cover
international non–governmental organizations (Taninchev, 2015). Some examples of international
non–governmental organizations are multinational corporations and international non–profit
organizations. When it comes to public international law, intergovernmental companies turn out to
be an important aspect. These organizations are created by treaty. The treaty acts as a charter that
makes up the group. During the formation of treaties, governments of many states (lawful
representatives) undergo the process of ramification. This process of ramification gives the
intergovernmental companies an international legal personality. In a legal sense, intergovernmental
companies need to be distinguished from simple coalition or grouping of states, such as the Quartet
or G8. Simple coalitions or grouping have not been created by a constituent document. They are
only present as task groups. There is also a big difference between intergovernmental organizations
and treaties. A number of treaties that are usually made do not create

As I was going through the university official website, I was impressed with Davis, a graduate of
Economics with Mathematical Emphasis in UW–M who is honored with Schwarzman scholarship. I
found him even more interesting to know that he served as the Director of Operations of The
Madison Fund that provided affordable loans to small businesses and low–income entrepreneurs in
the Madison area. Looking at his achievements, I believe that at University of Wisconsin, I cannot
only succeed and flourish as a student, but even help to contribute to the society.
As Wisconsin is one of the leading research universities in the world, the learning environment will
be very helpful to me since I would be surrounded by pools of skilled lecturers such as Professor
Charles Engel, who is internationally recognized for his research on exchange rates. As most of the
professors still have their research in progress, I will have the opportunity to get the latest
development of their researches in the class and it will keep me ahead of my peers. I can also seize
the golden opportunity to collaborate a research with the professors who specialize in Economics

Roman Forum Essay
To what extent was the Roman Forum the heart of the Republic?
The Forum Romanum (Roman Forum). Heart of Rome and the focal point for all economic,
political and religious processions. It was the core of the ancient city and became over time the
centre of the vast Roman empire. Originally a marketplace for farmers, it grew like a seed to form a
place for justice, amusement, festivals and funerals. Here, elections were held, triumphal
processions took place and the Senate assembled. The great evolution of the forum to become the
heart of Rome was a result of the important waterway underneath; Cloaca Maxima, the Forum being
home to religious, cult and other forms of worship, the temples ranging from the Temple of Jupiter
to the Vesta, a place for political and other senators working from the preaching on the Rosta to the
work done in the Tabularium and a hub for economic and judicial purposes. The Forum was not only
a place for the senators and political rulers of Rome to come together, but it was also a meeting
place for all the people of Rome and the ancient world.Even after the Late Republic, the Forum
continued to be a symbol of Rome's wealth and prosperity – ranking today as one of the most visited

Human Interrupt Water Transduction Essay Essay
Human interrupt water pathways in two ways
1. Withdrawals:
We take water out of the system to irrigate crops, to provide us with drinking water and to carry out
many of our industrial processes.
2. Discharges:
We add substances to the water – intentionally or not. As precipitation falls on the ground and
moves into rivers and creeks, it picks up a whole range of pollutants. In rural areas these pollutants
may include farm pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers as well as wastes from faulty septic systems
and improperly handled manure. In urban areas, the pollutants may include gas, oil, pet waste,
fertilizers, pesticides, salt and treated human waste from sewage treatment plants.
What we do to this system affects everything within it. For example, what happens if rain that falls
from the sky or the water that flows through our streams is contaminated? These contaminants may
infect plant or animal life including human beings, or reduce their ability to grow and reproduce.
What happens if large quantities of water are diverted or taken out of the system? The reduced flow
will likely affect the local water supply but it may eventually change the local environment and alter
the plant and animal species that are found here. As we place different stresses on this system, we
run the risk of altering or overloading it and causing serious harm.
The Credit River is an important part of the watershed and the water cycle in this area. What we do
here affects us locally and

The Way Lgbtq Status, Disabilities, And Gender Affect...
In this essay, I will be looking at the way LGBTQ status, Disabilities, and Gender affect
development. Depending on the culture there can be many ways in which development is affected.
Each culture's view on the previously mentioned areas will determine what happens next. Keep in
mind the ways different cultures view these things will have an impact on SES, Education
opportunities, and access to Medical care and these can all further impact general health and
development at any stage of life. In the article, Cultural Beliefs and Attitudes about Disability in
East Africa, reported many East African communities had varied beliefs about where disabilities
come from such as punishment for misdeeds, to Christian based views of divine intervention, to
medical explanations as well as sometimes a combination of any of the three. What was interesting
was a common theme found in regards to their value frequently fell to the ability to contribute to the
community and/or to fit in to social norms (social development). This seemed to be more common
in the rural areas. In other more urban areas, the complete opposite was found. Education was
denied to families with children who had disabilities, work opportunities were also denied to them.
The report further states "there is more compelling evidence that individuals with disabilities in East
Africa continue to be excluded from schools and opportunities for work, virtually ensuring that they
will be live as the poorest of the

Women's Academic Leadership Developing Countries
Women in Academic Leadership in Developing Countries
This world has seen many great women leaders in politics, business and society, the likes of Angela
Merkel of Germany, Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan, Sonia Gandhi of India, to Wangari Maathai of
Kenya to name just a few (Lewis 2015). The leadership of these women in their respective fields is
seen as an integral part of the universal goals of equality, development and peace of our world and
societies. Global policies and programs developed through the Beijing Declaration and Platform for
Action 1995, and the Millennium Summit 2000 have committed to eliminate gender inequality and
discrimination against women so as to promote more women like them into leadership roles. This is
vital because it is only when women become part of the decision making process they can further
their interests, develop their capabilities and have the freedom of choice to improve their conditions
(Mohamed 3). This empowerment of women according to the World Economic forum is the solution
to the many world issues we have today.
From unprecedented population ageing to increasing unemployment, from global leadership
imbalances to persisting conflicts, from resource scarcity to volatile global food supplies, the world
faces a series of interconnected challenges. The Global Agenda Council on Women's Empowerment
aims to highlight how women's empowerment is a part of the solutions to these challenges. (World

regarding the sources would be when others are jealous of your own success. In other words, they

you did something with your life. More importantly, "the good life" can be lived well if you're able
to help others while you're stable and able to treat yourself. In The Gospel of Wealth, Andrew

responsibility is to use their wealth to promote a better future, but this doesn't necessarily mean

Gender Gap between Men and Women
When a man cries, it is seen as him being sensitive. When a woman cries, it is seen as her losing
control of her emotions. It is the 21st century and women cannot act like human beings and still be
taken seriously. Despite all the protests, all the campaigns, all the progress women have made in the
past century, all of it would have been for naught if they cannot be taken seriously in the country
today. Of course, compared to some other countries where women have essentially no rights at all,
the US has made astonishing progress, but there still stands major roadblocks on the way to equality.
The gender gap in the US is still very prominent, women are constantly being discriminated,
disregarded, and are discouraged from taking on leadership roles. For women to be taken seriously,
the country needs to come together to minimize the gender gap, to understand that a woman is as
important and trustworthy as any man, and to make sure that every child, boy and girl, is encouraged
to take the lead. Minimizing the gender gap is one of the most vital roles in getting women to be
taken seriously. How do we do it? Well, getting equal pay is a good place to start. The pay gap
between men and women is the same as it was ten years ago. That is a decade without progress
between men and women. In 2012, as in 2002, among full–time, year–round workers, women were
paid 77 percent of what men were paid. (Hill, Catherine. "The Simple Truth About the Gender Pay

South African Americans Before European Integration

  • 1. South African Americans Before European Integration Europe has been quite successful in integrating its economies because of the various geopolitical and economic activities. The first and foremost reason is that these countries are small and the economy of the one country can be integrated with the economy of the other country. Their integration has been made possible because the aspiration and believe of the different countries are very much similar. Moreover, their cultural and economic history is moreover same. European Union as it has been called now has been the most developed model of the regional integration though challenged by economic crisis now a days. For the integration, the intersection of the economic need, life style of the people, and size of the economy must be same. Due to inappropriate way and lack of proper political integration by countries and surge in the national feeling over the common economic goal of the region has adversely impacted the area. (Roelof Botha – Macroeconomic report) Emerging Markets: Several emerging market economies are expected to return to pre–recession growth trajectories during 2010, with China and India having defied the global economic downturn altogether. • 6. Globalization Essay Globalization can be defined as "the development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free trade, free flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor markets" (Webster Dictionary). It brings countries closer together and impacts things such as human rights, politics, and economics. While Globalization can have positive factors it has its downfalls. Globalization has effects on human well–being in societies around the globe. This process seems to only be suitable for the economic world as well as the commercial world. How would increasing awareness for human rights change anything? "First, the human rights framework adds to development policy the notion that education, food, adequate housing and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... National governments have at least one major responsibility for their citizens–upholding the security and economic welfare as well as protecting human rights and the environment within nation's borders. Due to worldwide ecological changes, political activity increasingly takes place at the global level. "Under globalization, politics can take place above the state through political integration schemes such as the European Union and through intergovernmental organizations such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the World Trade Organization." (Global Policy Forum). Who we, as a nation, form an alliance with can be either a negative or positive thing. It all depends on the goods that get imported from other countries to our nation, although at times countries do not have to be allies to receive another country's goods. An example of this would be the United States and China. "Civil society organizations act globally by forming alliances with organizations in other countries, using global communications systems, and lobbying international organizations and other actors directly, instead of working through their national governments" (Global Policy Forum). While it may be alright now there is always the possibility that things can go south and we lose our imports from any country. In the world of Economics there is always one root–labor. • 8. The Influence Of Public Architecture In Ancient Rome From the early Roman Republic, the Roman architectural style began to thrive and it heavily depended on inspiration from its Greek neighbors. In the early Imperial period however, the combination of the Greek and Etruscan styles allowed the Romans a chance to achieve true originality in their constructions, developing large walls with arches and, at a later date, domes. The subsequent innovation in Roman concrete further allowed for architectural styles in Rome to expand, granting the development and application of arches and vaulted ceilings. Public Roman Buildings The Roman culture invested greatly in, and produced, a great number of public buildings, many of which being on a grand scale. These public buildings of Rome helped in the fulfilment of three criteria for the populus Romanus; religious worship, entertainment and political necessities (Barton 1989, 2) Forums The Ancient ... All this is taking place against the backdrop of an inexorable longer term shift of power gravity from west to east, the growth of Brazil, Russia, India and China (the BRIC countries), which are in turn facing their own growth challenges, and the rise of new emerging economies. • 15. Corporate Social Responsibility And Human Rights CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBLITY Nicholas S Jones ACED 4050 Valdosta State University March 20, 2016 CORPORATE SOCIAL RESRPONSIBILITY (CSR) Introduction Today, the world faces numerous challenges ranging from dreadful environmental conditions through poverty and human rights, to energy and resource supply issues. Social responsibility policy focuses on using the capabilities of a business to improve lives and sustain our planet through contributions to local communities and society at large. In other words, a business should fully realize it's potential as an organization to make a better world through corporate self–regulation assimilated into a business module. CSR and Human Rights The global community expects companies to operate with due admiration for human rights. Beyond meeting regulatory requirements and social expectations in areas in which they operate, by proactively presenting more rigorous international standards such as the United Nations Global Compact, companies will reinforce their commitment to human rights. In 1998 the Secretary General of the UN, declared that he "was building a more solid relationship with the business community. Thriving markets and human security goes hand in hand: without one we will not have the other" (Annan, 1998, p. 1820). Afterwards, a World Economic Forum was held in 1999. The Pros And Cons Of Investment In Africa In the early 15th Century (Ming dynasty), China had been undertaking trade activities with Africa, especially with Eastern Africa, importing ivory, rhinoceros horns, amber, and valuable products and exporting silk, porcelain, and lacquerware and other treasures. This period of exploration was followed by several centuries of disengagement. After the establishment of the People's Republic of China (PRC) in October 1st, 1949, China took a renewed interest in Africa. They have had to reshape their foreign policy by learning from the lessons of the past; the neutralism of the Asian and African countries in the Cold War led China to the Bandung conference in April 1955 in Indonesia. • 19. Overall Economic Performance Of Sweden 2. Overall Economic Performance of Sweden Sweden is one of the most competitive economies in the European Union, being ranked 2nd in the Europe 2020 Index of Competitiveness out of 28 European countries (World Economic Forum, 2014). With strong governmental institutions, which deliver high quality social services, and a low corruption level, Sweden is one of the five European countries closes to fulfilling the Europe 2020 programme goals and scoring at a considerably high level in all three main drivers of growth (Tilford & Whyte, 2010). 2.1 SMART growth– Enterprise Environment Firstly, in the SMART growth area, Sweden has been performing generally well, being ranked second out of 28 countries (World Economic Forum, 2014). As seen in figure 1 below, Sweden's best perfoming area within the SMART growth criteria is the enterprise environment. Sweden is ranked among Denmark, Ireland and the UK as one of the top 20 locations in the world to do business (Tilford & Whyte, 2010). This is reflected in Sweden's increased level of investment in the recent years compared to Netherlands or Denmark, especially in the service sector (European Commission, 2016). Also, Sweden is spotted for its friendly environment for new business start– ups, because the access to obtaining funding from banks for small and medium enterprises (SME) is higher compared to the EU average rate of 5% (European Commission, 2016). This implies that banks in Sweden are more willing to provide funds for SME's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Food Waste Of Food A lot of things go to waste in this day and age; almost every country adds to this. There are needs for people. That is understandable. However, the United States of America is possibly one of the biggest contributors to waste in this world; this country dissipates a substantial amount of food, uses an insane amount of water, and utilizes a significant amount of energy. The first of the wasted items is food; this country allows a lot of food to go to waste. With the amount of people in this nation, a large amount of food is needed. With all of that food, a sickening amount of it goes to waste. According to an article from the EPA official website, "Every year in the United States, approximately 31% (133 billion pounds) of the overall food supply is wasted" ("America's Food Waste Problem"). This enormous quantity of food that goes to waste could be used to feed others. On a side note, the FAO states that, "food waste creates 3.6 billion tons (3.3 billion metric tons) of greenhouse gases annually, about 7 percent of the total greenhouse gas emissions worldwide" ("Food Waste"). This wasting of food just diminishes the amount of nourishment in the world, allowing it to rot in landfills and create harmful gases. Some food that is wasted is just discarded because of how it looks, though. For example, most people do not want to eat bruised fruit, but it is completely safe. Furthermore, grocery stores might discard of unappetizing produce, or just let it go to waste. One might argue that food thrown away is inedible and no one would want to eat it. However, many things that people think of as waste can be reused and made into different things. For example, from Research In Context, "Leftover bread can be turned into croutons, while vegetable trimmings can be cooked into a soup" ("Food Waste"). There is almost always a way to reuse things instead of wasting them; throwing away things that seem useless away is not the answer to the problem of wasted food. Similar to wasted food, water is something that is taken for granted a lot in this society. Most of the people in this country have never been without water, so they do not ever think about how much they use, or what it would be like without it. For instance, the ... • 23. Mexican Illegal Immigration Mexican illegal immigration into the U.S. has been prominent since the 1940s. Originally about 4.6 million Mexican immigrants came to the U.S. legally through the Bracero Program between 1942– 1946(Planas, 2014). The program gave Mexican laborers worker visas to come into the U.S. and work as farm hands. This created circular migration patterns from Mexico to the U.S. that still exist today(Planas, 2014). However, the Bracero program was terminated due to an influx of illegal immigrants flooding into the U.S., who too wanted the great pay, but could not manage to get into the program(Planas, 2014). Today, the Bracero Program is the reason why most of the undocumented immigrants in the U.S. are from Mexico(Planas, 2014). Later, the Immigration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... President Trump's goal is to rid the entire nation of undocumented immigrants(Calabresi et al, 2016). Trump plans to send immigrants back to Mexico to wait out the immigration process(Kulish et al, 2017). However, Mexico did not approve of this plan. Trump is trying to pawn a U.S. problem on another country, and it is causing tensions to rise. Trump also plans to use expedited removal of illegal Mexican immigrants. This means he plans to deport people without a judge as extensively as the law will allow it in order to prevent back log of immigrant cases(Kulish et al, 2017). By preventing illegal Mexican immigrants from obtaining the necessary wages in order for their families to be financially stable, the Mexican economy will only plummet more. These people will continue to live in poverty, and the incentive will be even higher to illegally immigrate to the U.S.. It also creates the problem for the U.S. with a lack of a blue collar workforce population for the service economy and agriculture. He also plans on expanding the program 287(g) which, from 2013–2016, led to over 175,000 deportations(Kullish et al, 2017). EU/Japanese Relations Essay EU/Japanese Relations When international relations between the world's economic superpowers are mentioned, the first political/economic bonds that come to ones head are usually the US and Japan and now more often the US and the EU relationships. The world influence that comes from these two bonds is substantial, but there is a third relationship that I believe forms a triangle of political/economic power that stabilizes world politics. Ties between Japan and Europe have been considered relatively weak compared to those between Japan and the US or the US and Europe, but the policy initiatives arising from a joint declaration are helping to improve the balance of relations between these three partners. Throughout the eighties the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thanks to efforts on both sides, relations between Japan and the EU are basically friendly. Japan currently accounts for 18% of the world's GDP, and it has a global responsibility to contribute to the peace and stability of the international community. Combined with the EU, the two account for 40% of the world's GDP and 10% of the world's population. Both consider the other major trading partners resulting in close to $150 billion worth in trade between the two. Japan intends to play an increasingly creative role in the building of a new post–Cold–War international order which should be based on democratic principles and free and market based economy (Delegation). It is from that perspective that Japan has been working actively to foster a closer relationship with the European Union which has an increasing weight in international politics as it continues to grow. There is an ever widening range of issues on which dialogue and cooperation between the EU and Japan is required. Be it a global issue such as UN reform, disarmament and nuclear nonproliferation or a regional problem like the conflict in Bosnia–Herzegovina, development of nuclear capability in North Korea, and the Middle East peace process, the world's major challenges all merit from the cooperation of prosperous democracies. • 27. Globalization Of Globalization Is the international political economy more globalized today than in 2000? One could argue that the groundwork for such a phenomenon has been soundly laid by the post–World War machinations that generated entities such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. No doubt, events such as the terror attack, a particularly nasty form of globalization, that occurred on September 11th, 2001, raised awareness of globalization in general as we realized that a plot conceived in Afghanistan, Germany, and elsewhere could be brought to fruition within our own borders. (Keohane :2004) Certainly, technological innovations like the smartphone, social media, and e– commerce have enriched the already fertile global ground that brought forth a level of global interdependence, shared knowledge, and communication laying the groundwork for what is now referred to as the age of globalization. (Scholte :2000) However, much of this may have facilitated the process, but most certainly fueled global perception of the reality of an enmeshed economic, political, and social system. Whatever the case may be with the preceding, the globalization of international political economy is evident as problems from weakened states, decreasing political autonomy, and powerful non–state actors now shape international economic, political, and social spheres alongside to the consternation of the global political hegemony. There are two different categories, thermoset which solidifies irreversibly when the polymer is heated and thermoplastic which soften when exposed to heat (Halden, 2010). Plastic is a log lived material which can be used for many years yet the highest uses we have for the material are disposable, such as for packaging. Since 1975 Global plastic production has increased by 620% (Environment and Climate Change Canada, 2015). This tagline was courtesy of Professor Stephanie Sabato at the introduction of her presentation "Say it With Snap," This enlightening presentation entailed beautiful and descriptive images and designs that have spanned thousands of years. The results of the referendum were staggering, as the citizens of the United Kingdom vocalized their desire for change at the emotional level. People felt as though the European Union, with its relaxed attitude towards state borders, would open the gate to continuous immigration and taint the cultural identity of the United Kingdom. Britains in support of Brexit believe in this idea of immigration being the root of the problem with the EU. In the midst of the financial crash of 2008, the entire Eurozone has had difficulty getting back off the ground and many of the countries in its borders turned towards the UK for financial compensation in the form of jobs (Lee). It was seen as the primal hub of the town, and due to the busy trading nature, a commercial centre for exchanging foreign goods was a necessity. However in Herculaneum, being a quiet fishing village, the structure of the Forum would have been very different to that of Pompeii. Most of the Italian municipalities in their time had a Forum, a square in their town where the political, commercial, and social lives are all intertwined. Not only did it act as a social meeting place for the residents, but it also functioned as the primary religious and economic sector of the city. In Pompeii the Forum was a large area measuring at around 157 by 38 metres, not including all the surrounding buildings (Unfortunately in Herculaneum, the forum is still uncovered). The Forum was lined with the most important buildings in the city. (See figure 1) In Pompeii particularly, the forum held the Municipal offices (A), Basilica (B), Temple of Apollo (C), Forum Olitorium (vegetable market) (C), Latrines (public toilets) (D), Temple of Jupiter (E), Macellum (marketplace) (F), Temple of the Lares (G), Temple of Vespasian (I), Building of Eumanchia (J), and a Comitium (voting house) (K). The purpose of this essay is to critically discuss the court's decision in Owusu v Jackson (C–281/02) and determine the impact of the decision on the systems of international trade. The aim is to establish how trading partners from different jurisdictions can settle a commercial dispute that may arise in the course of trade and which county's laws are applicable in international trade disputes. The issues involving international trade are becoming commonplace due to the effects of globalisation and the ensuing economic crisis. The handling of these cross–border commercial disputes takes different shapes depending on the forum in which litigation of the disputes is conducted. The country of jurisdiction affects the guiding principles and procedures of the applicable laws and ensuing remedies. Additionally, it influences the schedule and the cost of litigations hence it has economic and legal consequences. Furthermore, the State in which parties are domiciled, the location of witnesses, language barriers and international relations undermine effective handling of cases. As international trade gains its significance due to increasing business competitiveness the disputes among the trading partners continues to increase due to a breach of business contracts. The establishment of international trade laws focuses on harmonising international trade and setting a common mechanism for settlement of the dispute between the trading countries. The sections include the current account, capital account, and financial account. Each section plays an important role in determining if the balance of account for a country is positive or negative. To analyze what New Zealand's balance of payment means to them, each section will be reviewed in detail below. The current account records transactions that pertain to goods, services, and income receipts (Hill and Hult, 2016). For the year 2015, the current account has a deficit of 8.1 billion dollars, or –3.1 percent when expressed as a percentage of GDP (Balance of Payments, 2016). The capital account reflects one–time changes in the stock of assets, while the financial account reflects transactions that involve the purchase or sale of assets (Hill and Hult, 2016). In New Zealand, the capital account was 383 million in 2015, which was an increase of over 370 million in 2014. The financial account was –1.47 billion, which was down over three billion from 2014 (Balance of Payments, 2016). Balance of Payment Situational Analysis As a whole, New Zealand's current balance of payment situation is not ideal. But are humans acting in order to overcome this mission? Since the new technological and productive developments, conditioned especially after the First Industrial Revolution, a great charge of harmful impacts was influencing the sustainability of the planet. However, the casualness that man has undertaken in its actions towards the environment and even towards his fellow have placed him face to face with an imminent danger. In this imminent danger, it's possible to highlight the extreme weather events resulting from environmental disturbances that have been accumulated by the society, and also by the increasing socio–economic inequalities polarized by economic globalization. In relation to several climatic manifestations of extreme proportion, it's easy to realize that in a time perspective the consequences that today seem to be just momentary they actually extend in space and time from direct or indirect dynamics. That's why for at least three decades, human activity has been the main factor in climate change because of its greenhouse gas emissions, its growing consumption, and its energy use. The largest known contribution in climate change comes from the burning of fossil fuels, which releases carbon dioxide gas to the atmosphere. These are organizations that are primarily made up of the sovereign state that are termed as member states. They may also be made up other intergovernmental organizations. Intergovernmental companies/intergovernmental organizations are usually referred to as international organizations; however, the definition may also cover international non–governmental organizations (Taninchev, 2015). Some examples of international non–governmental organizations are multinational corporations and international non–profit organizations. When it comes to public international law, intergovernmental companies turn out to be an important aspect. These organizations are created by treaty. The treaty acts as a charter that makes up the group. During the formation of treaties, governments of many states (lawful representatives) undergo the process of ramification. This process of ramification gives the intergovernmental companies an international legal personality. In a legal sense, intergovernmental companies need to be distinguished from simple coalition or grouping of states, such as the Quartet or G8. Heart of Rome and the focal point for all economic, political and religious processions. It was the core of the ancient city and became over time the centre of the vast Roman empire. Originally a marketplace for farmers, it grew like a seed to form a place for justice, amusement, festivals and funerals. Here, elections were held, triumphal processions took place and the Senate assembled. The great evolution of the forum to become the heart of Rome was a result of the important waterway underneath; Cloaca Maxima, the Forum being home to religious, cult and other forms of worship, the temples ranging from the Temple of Jupiter to the Vesta, a place for political and other senators working from the preaching on the Rosta to the work done in the Tabularium and a hub for economic and judicial purposes. The Forum was not only a place for the senators and political rulers of Rome to come together, but it was also a meeting place for all the people of Rome and the ancient world.Even after the Late Republic, the Forum continued to be a symbol of Rome's wealth and prosperity – ranking today as one of the most visited archaeological sites in the world [1]. ... These definitions are both accurate to describe the Forum's role and place in the Roman Late Republic. Situated just above Campitelli and to the left of the Colosseum, the Forum is as 'heart' as you could get in the city. Looking north, it sits on the right hand side of the tiber, as a heart would if you faced a body. It's central location allowed it to grow out and be close to the other inner city buildings and become the central place for all activity. • 63. Human Interrupt Water Transduction Essay Essay Human interrupt water pathways in two ways 1. Withdrawals: We take water out of the system to irrigate crops, to provide us with drinking water and to carry out many of our industrial processes. 2. Discharges: We add substances to the water – intentionally or not. As precipitation falls on the ground and moves into rivers and creeks, it picks up a whole range of pollutants. In rural areas these pollutants may include farm pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers as well as wastes from faulty septic systems and improperly handled manure. In urban areas, the pollutants may include gas, oil, pet waste, fertilizers, pesticides, salt and treated human waste from sewage treatment plants. What we do to this system affects everything within it. For example, what happens if rain that falls from the sky or the water that flows through our streams is contaminated? These contaminants may infect plant or animal life including human beings, or reduce their ability to grow and reproduce. What happens if large quantities of water are diverted or taken out of the system? The reduced flow will likely affect the local water supply but it may eventually change the local environment and alter the plant and animal species that are found here. As we place different stresses on this system, we run the risk of altering or overloading it and causing serious harm. The Credit River is an important part of the watershed and the water cycle in this area. What we do here affects us locally and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is535 Course Project Essay Running head: Corporate Social Network Corporate Social Network – Final Project MIS 535 Managerial Applications of Information Technology Lou Ann McElyea June 16, 2013 Abstract Many organizations have suggestion boxes. One can find a suggestion box in a gas station, a restaurant, and even a work place. It's an easy and mostly anonymous way to express ideas or concerns regarding an organization and/or its structure. Through the use of a suggestion box, either client or employee would be able to express opinions and make suggestions according to the various attributes of an organization without a high pressure environment such as meetings and ... Because company–wide face to face meeting are near impossible, AAI has a heavy reliance on a chain of command and technology in order to make any updates or changes effective in the organization and for the information to spread accordingly. They lack a system or software that is accessible to all employees of the organization to be able to perform their jobs effectively. Halverson and Tirmizi (2008) state that organizations "have to find means, as they utilize global communication tools, to adjust their ways of communicating and understanding" in order to maintain effective communication (p. 185). AAI needs to make some adjustments so that all facets of the organization can work cohesively, providing the students the flawless service they need to succeed. Solution Since most of AAI has access to the same databases as well as utilize the same resources to perform their various job functions, it is a safely drawn conclusion that most employees are inept at accessing different technologies on a daily basis. I propose that all of the employees access a form of social networking technology that enables employees and team members to share ideas, suggestions, opinions, and news/updates with those in the AAI "community". This site created specifically for this purpose, will pose as a forum divided into applicable sections and accessible to everyone to receive information and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. The Way Lgbtq Status, Disabilities, And Gender Affect... In this essay, I will be looking at the way LGBTQ status, Disabilities, and Gender affect development. Depending on the culture there can be many ways in which development is affected. Each culture's view on the previously mentioned areas will determine what happens next. Keep in mind the ways different cultures view these things will have an impact on SES, Education opportunities, and access to Medical care and these can all further impact general health and development at any stage of life. In the article, Cultural Beliefs and Attitudes about Disability in East Africa, reported many East African communities had varied beliefs about where disabilities come from such as punishment for misdeeds, to Christian based views of divine intervention, to medical explanations as well as sometimes a combination of any of the three. What was interesting was a common theme found in regards to their value frequently fell to the ability to contribute to the community and/or to fit in to social norms (social development). This seemed to be more common in the rural areas. In other more urban areas, the complete opposite was found. Education was denied to families with children who had disabilities, work opportunities were also denied to them. The report further states "there is more compelling evidence that individuals with disabilities in East Africa continue to be excluded from schools and opportunities for work, virtually ensuring that they will be live as the poorest of the ... • 73. Women's Academic Leadership Developing Countries Women in Academic Leadership in Developing Countries This world has seen many great women leaders in politics, business and society, the likes of Angela Merkel of Germany, Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan, Sonia Gandhi of India, to Wangari Maathai of Kenya to name just a few (Lewis 2015). The leadership of these women in their respective fields is seen as an integral part of the universal goals of equality, development and peace of our world and societies. Global policies and programs developed through the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action 1995, and the Millennium Summit 2000 have committed to eliminate gender inequality and discrimination against women so as to promote more women like them into leadership roles. This is vital because it is only when women become part of the decision making process they can further their interests, develop their capabilities and have the freedom of choice to improve their conditions (Mohamed 3). This empowerment of women according to the World Economic forum is the solution to the many world issues we have today. From unprecedented population ageing to increasing unemployment, from global leadership imbalances to persisting conflicts, from resource scarcity to volatile global food supplies, the world faces a series of interconnected challenges. The Global Agenda Council on Women's Empowerment aims to highlight how women's empowerment is a part of the solutions to these challenges. (World Economic Forum 3) But does the international ... Although, the more powerful meaning regarding the sources would be when others are jealous of your own success. In other words, they can be considered haters. Once you reach this point, you sense accomplishments because it shows you did something with your life. More importantly, "the good life" can be lived well if you're able to help others while you're stable and able to treat yourself. • 79. Gender Gap between Men and Women When a man cries, it is seen as him being sensitive. When a woman cries, it is seen as her losing control of her emotions. It is the 21st century and women cannot act like human beings and still be taken seriously. Despite all the protests, all the campaigns, all the progress women have made in the past century, all of it would have been for naught if they cannot be taken seriously in the country today. Of course, compared to some other countries where women have essentially no rights at all, the US has made astonishing progress, but there still stands major roadblocks on the way to equality. The gender gap in the US is still very prominent, women are constantly being discriminated, disregarded, and are discouraged from taking on leadership roles. For women to be taken seriously, the country needs to come together to minimize the gender gap, to understand that a woman is as important and trustworthy as any man, and to make sure that every child, boy and girl, is encouraged to take the lead. Minimizing the gender gap is one of the most vital roles in getting women to be taken seriously. How do we do it? Well, getting equal pay is a good place to start. The pay gap between men and women is the same as it was ten years ago. That is a decade without progress between men and women. In 2012, as in 2002, among full–time, year–round workers, women were paid 77 percent of what men were paid. (Hill, Catherine. "The Simple Truth About the Gender Pay Gap.") If people were to start ...
