Plane Figures
•A polygon is a closed plane figure
formed only using line segments.
•The line segments are called sides.
A polygon has at least three sides.
POLYGON
• I have 5 sides, who am I?
• I have 8 sides, who am I?
• I have 3 sides, who am I?
• I have 10 sides, who am I?
• I have 6 sides, who am I?
• I have 4 sides, who am I?
• I have 9sides, who am I?
• I have 7 sides, who am I?
• Solid shapes consist of 3 dimensions, namely
length, width, and height.
• Solid shapes are also known as 3D shapes.
• These solid shapes occupy space and are
found in our day-to-day life. We touch, feel,
and use them.

Face
- it is the
part of a
3D shape
that is flat

Face
- it is the part of a 3D shape
that is flat
Base
- the bottom face of a 3D
shape
Edge
- it is the line where two
faces meet in 3D shape
Vertex
- the point where three or
more edges meet
Surface
- the curved part of 3D shape
Cone
•It has a circle for the base and a curved
surface that comes to a point called vertex.
Cylinder
• A cylinder has 2 equal and parallel circles as bases and a
• lateral curved surface.
Pyramid
•It has a base of any polygon and triangular
faces that meet in a common vertex.
Sphere
Prism
It has six squares for its faces. All the edges are equal
in length. It has 8 vertices and 12 edges.
Cube
A prism that has bases in the shape of a rectangle. It
is also known as a cuboid.
