2. DEFINITION OF SOLAR SYSTEM
•Solar system is a very small part of the entire
universe.
•The solar system consists of the sun, the 9
planets and there satellites (or moons) and
thousands of other smaller heavily bodies,
such as asteroids, comets, and meteors.
•The solar system is dominated by the sun.

3. SUN
• Sun is a star
• Sun is the center of the solar system
• It contains about 98%of all the rocks,
dust, and gas in the solar system
• It consists mainly of hydrogen and
helium.
• The reaction in the sun release
enormous amount of energy.
• Without the sun energy and heat
there would be no life on earth

4. SUN
•Sun has a radius which is 109 times that of
the earth. This means It would take 13
lakh earths to fill the sun.
•The sun has been burning for more than
4.5billion years.

5. PLANETS
• It is the gravitational pull between the sun and the planets that
binds all the planets and in their own path.
• The easiest method to locate the planets in the night sky is that
planets don’t twinkle.
• They don’t have their own light.
• The light of the sun fall on the planets and they reflect the light.
• Planets rotate around their own axis.

6. All the planets orbit in a counter-clock wise direction
