AABSTRACTBSTRACT
 Recently in India, the Electrical sectors have many problems with the
power generation and least use of renewable energy sources.
 The crisis of energy have forced the world to develop new and alternative
methods of power generation
 Identified the real use of Renewable Energy Resources (particularly in
solar energy) and given the informations about the recent trends in solar
energy in various applications.
INTRODUCTIONINTRODUCTION
 Renewable energy, clean energy, green energy — all of
these terms are becoming more and more common.
 I’m sure you are aware that wind energy and solar energy are
renewable energy sources.
 Other than wind and solar, there are actually a ton of
renewable energy sources. Basically, anything we can use to
create energy that will quickly renew is a form or source of
renewable energy. But, to get more specific, here’s a run down
of some of the most popular renewable energy sources.
 Non-conventional technologies are presently under the
development stage.
 At present their share is very small.
NON-CONVENTIONAL SOURCESNON-CONVENTIONAL SOURCES
SOLAR ENERGYSOLAR ENERGY
 Arise with the thermonuclear
fusion reaction.
 Electromagnetic radiation
(visible light, infra-red,
ultraviolet, x-rays, and radio
waves).
 Radiant energy from the sun has
a temperature about 5000 kelvin.

SOLAR POWER GENERATIONSOLAR POWER GENERATION
Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity,
 directly using PhotoVoltaics (PV)
 indirectly using Concentrated Solar Power (CSP)
a) CONCENTRATED SOLAR POWERPLANTa) CONCENTRATED SOLAR POWERPLANT
(CSP)(CSP)
 CSP is same as like THERMAL POWER
PLANT but the fuel used is solar energy
WORKING
 Solar energy is collected through TROUGHS
and is concentrated on a particular point
containing fluid.
 The heat carrying fluid in turn converts the
water into steam, which then rotates the
turbine and generates electricity.
b)b) SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC POWERSOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC POWER
PLANTPLANT
 PhotoVoltaic is a combination of Greek word light (Photo) and the name
of the physicist Allesandro Volta (Voltaic).
 Direct conversion of sunlight into energy by means of solar cells.
PV based solar power plants are constructed by three types,
Roof top solar PP Ground mounted solar PP Canal top grid connected solar PP
A) Roof top solar power plantsA) Roof top solar power plants
These power
plants are of captive use
and are constructed on
top of the roof of
houses/buildings.
B) Ground mounted solar power plantB) Ground mounted solar power plant
These grid connected solar
power plant are constructed
in the open lands and the
most commonly used
technology/method for solar
power generation.
Disadvantage:
Requires more land for
construction.
C) Canal top grid connected solar power plantsC) Canal top grid connected solar power plants
 GUJARAT Government
implemented a Pilot project by
constructing 1MW solar power
plant on the top of Canal.
 Secondly with higher capacity of
about 10MW Canal top solar
power project has been
implemented on Vadodara
branch Canal.
 Recently 35MW Canal top solar
power projects being in process.

 Minimise evaporation from
Canal.
 Produce eco-friendly power
using solar panels as the
cover.
 Save land.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGESADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES
 Solar energy is free from
pollution.
 The plant requires little
maintenance or help after setup.
 It is economical.
 They typically achieve
concentration ratios of 300 to
1500 and so are highly efficient
both in collecting energy and
converting it to electricity.
 Available in day time only
 Need storage facilities
 It needs a backup power plant

APPLICATIONSAPPLICATIONS
 Generation of electrical energy
 Heating water
 Space heating
 Drying agricultural products
CONCLUSIONCONCLUSION
 Electricity is a main major source to run the day to day
life.
 The world is running behind electricity.Without electricity
we can't sustain in this crucial stage of mankind.
 All among the departments electricity is the heart of the
equipments.
I request all of you to use RENEWABLE ENERGY for future.
