The document summarizes the solar power plant located at LPU in Ludhiana, Punjab. The 400 solar panels located on the roof of the 38 block building have a total capacity of 100kW (0.1MW) and were constructed in 2013 at a cost of 1 crore rupees, receiving a 30% subsidy from the Punjab government. The solar panels generate 600V of DC current that is converted to AC current via an inverter for use on campus. The plant provides a renewable source of electricity with low operating costs but is limited by available sunlight.

4. Introduction:-
SOLAR POWER PLANT IN LPU HAS BEEN PLACED ON
THE TERRACE OF THE 38 BLOCK.
400’S SOLAR PANEL HAS BEEN PLACED TO
GENERATE ELECTRICITY IN A EFFICIENT WAY.
SOLAR ENERGY I.E.. ENERGY PROVIDED BY THE SUN
IS STEADY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
IT IS ONE OF THE MOST WIDELY RENEWABLE
RESOURCE. IT NOT ONLY BENEFITS INDIVIDUAL
OWNERS ,BUT ALSO BENEFITS FOR THE

LOW COST RUNNING.
IT GENERATES 600V OF DC CURRENT.
POWER OF 100KW(0.1MW) IS GENERATED.
AMOUNT OF 1CRORE WAS INVESTED AND WE
ARE GETTING AROUND 30% OF SUBSIDY
FROM PUNJAB GOVERNMENT.
6. WE ARE NOT USING ANY BATTERY SINCE IT
INCREASES 50% OF PROJECT COST.
THE LENGTH OF DC WIRE SHOULD BE LESS.
HENCE, THE GRID TIE INVERTER SHOULD NOT BE
PLACED FAR FROM THE PANELS.
CLAMPS ARE USED TO FIX THE PANELS WITH
THE STANDS.
SOME DEVICES LIKE
LIGHTNING,ARRESTERS,TEMPERATURE AND
RADIATION SENSORS ARE USED.

8. TYPES OF SOLAR POWER PLANT
(1)PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR POWER PLANTS WORK LIKE THIS:-
Photovoltaic electricity:- This method
uses photovoltaic cells that absorb the
direct sunlight just like the solar cells you
see on some calculators.
9. (2)SOLAR THERMAL ENERGY PLANT:-
A solar thermal energy plant will be used for
creating solar generated heaters which can
be used for heating water and also as an
indoor heating system.

11. THE MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENT OF A PV CELL ARE
TWO LAYERS OF SEMICONDUCTOR MATERIAL
COMMONLY COMPOSED OF SILICON CRYSTALS
12. The bottom layer of PV cell is usually doped
with boron, which bonds with the silicon to
facilitate a positive charge(P), while the tope
layer is doped with phosphorus which bonds
with the silicon to facilitate the negative
charge(N).
The surface between the resulting “P-type” &
“N-type” semiconductors is called the P-N
junction. Electron movement produces an
electric field that allows electron to flow from
the P type layer to the N type layer.

14. NATURAL EFFECTS OF SOLAR PLANT
Solar power has the potential to dramatically
change the world get its power.
While solar is among the world cleanest
energy, plants to develop utility scale solar
farms have raised concern about potential
environmental impacts.
