He has worked on projects related to livelihood, education, and development in Northeast India. Boruah holds an MA in Gender Studies and has presented research at several conferences. He is currently a research associate evaluating education in Northeast India.

Grassroot Solutions works to promote financial inclusion in rural areas of Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Punjab. It has conducted over 50 workshops reaching over 4,000 people, including students, farmers, factory workers, and more. It aims to educate people about financial management and planning, improve understanding of banking products, and connect more households to the formal financial system through opening bank accounts. Its long-term goals are to make financial literacy a mandatory part of school curriculums and ensure every individual is financially included.
