The challenge this session’s speaker and his colleagues faced in trying to learn more about customer experiences was that insights are fragmented across different systems such as Oracle Eloqua, CRM, and web analytics. To better understand their contacts, they started with the corporate data warehouse, which was missing a lot of this lower-value and detailed data. When they considered expanding the data warehouse, it was difficult to define what questions they wanted to answer in advance, because it varies for each campaign they run. Thus they embarked on building a Hadoop-based data lake, for the flexibility to ask any questions with an ad hoc schema on read approach, against any customer data sets in varying levels of detail, to better understand what their visitors want to consume.

ORACLE’S NEW DATA RETENTION POLICY
‣ Oracle has officially announced that the upcoming Eloqua 479
release (coming to a POD near you between March 15th and
March 27th) will introduce a new data retention policy for
marketing activities.
‣ Starting in March 2016, Oracle will store Eloqua Campaign, Email,
Form, and Website activity for at least 25 months past the activity
date.
‣ This new retention policy will add consistency across the platform
when using activity-related data for reporting, building segments,
lead scoring, and general history information.

SO WHAT DO WE DO NOW!
‣ Let’s face it; we marketers love our data, both new and historic, and
the thought of losing it makes us anxious.
‣ Oracle recognizes this and suggests that, prior to the 479 rollout,
Eloqua customers that want to retain their activity data older than 25
months export it via the bulk API.
‣ Data Exporter - You will need to use an App or API to export your
historically data by March 15.
‣ Data Warehouse - Most Eloqua marketers that don’t have access to
a database or data warehouse, but you will need one to store your
data. Excel or CSV files will not work.

‣ Oracle released a new AppCloud Developer framework that has
enhanced features.
Developers will need to configure their apps and transfer them to the
new framework.
‣ Important Note - You may be using Cloud Components and Cloud
Connectors that were developed on the old framework. These
connections will supported until July 1, 2016.
‣ Instances of Cloud Connector Apps on E10 Campaign Canvas will be
replaced with a holding step. Contacts will not automatically pass
through this step.
Instances of Cloud Components on E10 Landing Pages will be removed.
The landing pages will render without the externally sourced content.
