Statue Of Zeus Greek
The Statue of Zeus at Olympia There are Seven Wonders of the World. The number seven was
chosen because the Greeks believed it represented perfection. Also because it was the number of
the five planets, plus the sun and the moon. The Statue of Zeus was a giant seated figure. The
technique used to build the statue is known as Chryselephantine. Chryselephantine is gold plated,
bronze, and ivory sections are attached to the wooden flame. The throne section of the statue is
made out of gold, ebony, ivory, and inlaid with precious stones. Carved into the chair were figures
of Greek gods and mystical animals (Olympia). The temple of Zeushoused the Statue of Zeus. It
was added to the temple around 435 B.C.E. Zeus was seated on a magnificent throne... Show more

Teen Depression And Suicide
Teen Depression and Suicide
Mother Teresa once said, Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty.
Studies have shown that approximately 20% of teens experience depression before they reach
adulthood. According to the American Psychiatric Association, depression is a common and serious
mental illness that negatively affects how you feel and act. While it is treatable through therapy or
medication, only 1 in 3 teens who suffer from depression receive the treatment they need after their
diagnosis. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young adults ages 15 to 24 in fact,
studies have shown that someone takes their own life every 100 minutes. Young adults with
enormous potential are taking their own lives at alarming rates, and these numbers may very
well continue to increase unless we band together as a society to take action. In order to help
teens with depression eliminate the risk of suicide, doctors must administer depression
screenings, teachers must be trained on how to deal with and respond to mental illnesses, and
parents must be educated on the signs and treatment of depression. One way to help teens with
undiagnosed depression get help is to add screenings for depression to routine doctor checkups
for patients ages 12 to 18. Depression screenings may be presented as a short questionnaire or a
simple conversation with your doctor in which you are asked about your feelings and behaviors.
The process usually takes only five

Why Are Internships Important In Social Work Degree Programs
Laura: Why Are Internships Important in Social Work Degree Programs?
The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) recommends accredited social work degree
programs to offer internships and practicums. The CSWE s Educational Policy and Accreditation
Standards states that internships are a kind of field education that must meet certain requirements.
Internships must be directly associated with an accredited social work program at institution of
higher learning. The internship should have academic structure with established classroom
objectives. Students should be offered educational credit, the internship should be supervised by a
social worker and schools cannot substitute internships for mandatory classroom training.
http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation.aspx The Benefits of a Internships for Social Workers
Social work internships provide a strong dose of reality for students. One of the greatest challenges
that social workers face is transitioning from a comfortable educational setting to the social work
field where they must deal with serious real world problems and people. Internships, ... Show more

The more field training a professional receive, the better prepared and equipped they are to start
their careers successfully. Declining an internship may result in the case worker making the wrong
judgement call and unwittingly ruining the client s life. All social workers must have certain
foundation skills that are properly developed through educational institutions that follow the CSWE
s accreditation standards. Some critics feel the internship is unnecessary for non traditional students
with impressive skills, knowledge and experience. However, training standards should be raised,
not lowered for social workers. Removing internships contributes to lower levels of professional

A Clockwork Orange Essay
Anthony Burgess novel, A Clockwork Orange, depicts a somber and disconsolate future that is
filled with violence, rape, and destruction. Burgess challenges the loyalty of the reader towards the
narrator and main character, Alex, throughout the course of the novel. In the beginning, the reader
does not have an emotional connection to Alex; however, as the novel progresses and Alex begins
his course of ruthless, violent acts, the reader builds up a sense of loathing toward Alex. Despite
this, by the end of the novel, the reader almost begins to develop a sense of solicitude for Alex.
Throughout Alex s narration, Burgess manages to transform the reader s loyalty towards what had
previously seemed like an evil character. A Clockwork Orange,... Show more content on

Burgess insists that he based nadsat, the invented slang of the teenage hooligans in A Clockwork
Orange, on Russian for aesthetic reasons, but it is believed that this experience influenced his
portrayal of Alex and his gang. The dystopian world of the novel draws attention to the elements
of the American and English societies that Burgess detested. Burgess had a tendency toward
anarchy and felt the socialistic British welfare state was too willing to sacrifice individual liberty
in favor of social stability (A Clockwork Orange). He despised American popular culture due to its
fostering of homogeneity, passivity, and apathy. He regarded American law enforcement as being
corrupt and violent. Each of these targets are pointed out in A Clockwork Orange.
The film recreation of the novel features Alex and his droogs spending their nights getting high
before embarking on various acts of violence. One of these acts of violence includes tyrannizing
a writer, Mr. Alexander, and gang raping his wife, who later dies as a result. Alex is later jailed
for bludgeoning the Cat Lady to death. Alex submits to the Ludovico behavior modification

Young Goodman Brown Research Paper
The way the theme of evil is shown in Young Goodman brown is through the adventure in the
forest. In most stories the forest is always symbolized with a negative effect. It is shown with evil
and something bad to become which is the case in Goodman Brown. As he journeys out of his little
town to go for his adventure he leave his wife which is named Faith, showing symbolism of evil to
come through the adventure through the forest. Predmore states, As he leaves Faith he knows that
hes night journey has an evil purpose (251). This shows that GoodmanBrown is leaving his faith
behind which can be interpreted as his religionto venture out into the forest. This means that the
theme of the forest is evil and he comes to danger because he leaves his religious belief (a form of
protection) behind to go to a place... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before Goodman Brown ventures out his journey is seen as a peaceful good one but as soon as
he enters the forest everything begins to turn left for him. Hawthorne uses negative nouns to
explain the forest, which you could portray as evil He had taken a dreary road, darkened by all
the gloomiest trees of the forest (Hawthorne, 453). This then shows the contrast between light
and dark which would be explained as good vs evil. According to Hurley in Heart Of Darkness
Goodman Brown s alliance with evil is suggested by contrasting images of light and dark which
intimate a symbolic opposition between good and evil. The forest holds such a strong symbol of
fear and evil that terms like devil witch were commonly used to describe what Goodman Brown
was feeling or seeing There may be a devilish Indian behind every tree, said Goodman Brown to
himself. (Hawthorne, 453) The setting of this short story was in Salem, Massachusetts which
Hawthorne did on purpose, because of the infamous reputation it has it helps bring the story more to

Universal Design For Learning Essay
I chose to read an article about Universal Design for Learning. This was a learning theory that I
had not heard about before. This theory covers a wide range of learning styles for children along
with multiple strategies. The Universal Design for Learning Theory ensures that students are
provided with a variety of engaging strategies in order to best meet each student s individual needs.
A large component of Universal Design for Learning is text comprehension. This theory
understands that comprehension doesn t just come after reading a selection of text, but takes time
and will grow after students develop more maturity, socialize with others and gain more schema.
Students are encouraged to make connections through a wide range of methods.
In order to increase their text to text connections, students are encouraged to bring in books from
home that align with what they are learning, create compare/contrast diagrams, debate over two
similar books and compare books in literature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

article has opened a window toward personal professional understanding in the area of teaching

to make each type of connection. Many of which are fairly easy and can be done in a timely
manner. I will make it a professional goal to provide my students with more of these opportunities
to connect with what we are learning. If I am able to successfully integrate some of these activities
in my classroom, I know my students will greatly benefit from the exposure. They will become
more independent and informed worldly thinkers. All I have to do is assist each child in

The Last Armed Conflict Of The Western Hemisphere
The last armed conflict in the western hemisphere is coming to an end bringing hope of a
peaceful and better world to all of us. This was the message President Santos of Colombia
delivered to the general assembly of the United Nations in 2014. The ongoing peace process sits
down the government and the FARC with the objective of ending hostilities and negotiating a
social reform. The FARC guerrilla was founded almost 50 years ago in a small town south of
Colombia where the villagers were tired of the government s inequality and bad treatments. After
50 years of conflict, the social purpose of the armed group has disappeared and now they are
terrorists and drug traffickers. After 2 years of ongoing negotiations, 3 out of 5 agenda points have
been agreed upon. In his speech for the international community President Santos effectively gets
their support for the process using an authoritarian tone, a positive diction, and an appeal to
sympathy from them showing the horrors of warand the benefits of peace. He also understands the
end of this conflict not only benefits Colombia but sets a precedent for the rest of the world and
convinces the other leaders of this. Nonetheless, he falls in some logical fallacies like hasty
generalizations and broad assumptions that would make his argumentfall apart with another
audience in another context.
In an effort to secure support towards the peace process from the international community, President
Santos seeks to show the logic and

Video Game Comparison Essay
As a child, one never thinks twice about a possible hidden meaning when playing a video game.
Playing a video game was simply that, just playing. We are controlling a device to make actions
for the character displayed on a screen. But what if we were not only playing a senseless game, but
in fact, doing something more. At that point, we begin to question whether the video gamewe have
grown to love was doing something more than entertain us for the time being. We were not only
leveling up to fight the main boss or bad guy in the game, but possibly strengthening ourselves to
fight a figure that symbolizes an actual person or event in a different context. Plenty of games
feature hidden meanings and signs that many glance over without realization.... Show more content

For example, Fallout 4 is an action role playing game in a post apocalyptic environment set in
the year 2287. The game was recently released in November 2015. Both video games contain
similarities to each other, such as presenting a fictional reality, and what if situations. These
video games, like many others, provide a way to experience these simulations of societal terrors.
The difference between the two is that each display a specific cultural fear. One being a corrupt
organization in charge of society that is ruining the planet and the other a world trying to
rebuild after being nuked. Final Fantasy VII is able to keep up with modern games, not by its
graphics but by its themes. According to the Square Enix, the makers of Final Fantasy VII, as
the game continues to be popular, they will be releasing a modern remake of the game (FINAL
FANTASY VII Remake | PSX 2015 | Message from Yoshinori Kitase). In other words, the game s
large fan base has made it the point of remaking. The game s continuation in popularity well past
its released date is possibly related to the fact that these fears still exist in the present day. Final
Fantasy VII not only shows connections to other video game themes, but also demonstrates events

The Invention Of The Electron Microscope By Ernst Ruska...
In the scientific community, there have been many advancements in the technologies and processes
used to help us understand the truth of the world around us. The invention of the electron
microscope by Ernst Ruska and Max Knoll in 1933 is just an example of one of these
advancements. There is another advancement that has roots over one hundred and sixty million
years old, and that is the green fluorescent protein(GFP). The fluorescence from GFP molecules has
made it feasible to look through a microscope at a spatial resolution higher than the diffraction limit.
The green fluorescent proteinwas first found in the Aequorea Victoria, or the crystal jellyfish. It is
a bioluminescent hydrozoan jellyfish, or hydromedusa (1). In the crystal jellyfish, there are two
proteins that are responsible for its bioluminescent, aequorin and GFP. They are both located in
the photo organs of the jellyfish. The jellyfish releases calcium ions which the aequorin binds to.
The process of binding gives off a blue light, which is then absorbed by the GFP. The blue light
absorbed is then converted into the green light that GFP is named for (2). At the moment there is
no apparent reason for the bioluminescence displayed by the Aequorea Victoria since it has not
been observed being used as a defense mechanism or as a signalling mechanism. Osamu
Shimomura was the first person to isolate the GFP. He started to study the bioluminescence of
crystal jellyfish at Princeton University in 1960 and he and

first need to do a little research on various colleges that are currently offering study programs in
this field. There are online degree programs as well, which you can easily take while sitting in
the comfort of your home. The application procedure is just like applying for any other degree
program; you need to fill out an application form and submit it to the concerned department along
with required documents and a covering letter to show your interest in a particular college. Before
you decide to apply, determine whether you want to learn to build drones or to fly them. These

Fast Hill video was very interesting in the way how memory was mediated. These two videos

Hill s Incidence of Catastrophe, was very different from what I experienced in Fast video. Hill
made himself the protagonist from the novel Thomas The Obscure by Maurice Blanchot. Hill s idea

I felt the protagonist in the video was trapped in a bad dream and consumed by the words from the

much that his presence at the dinner table felt unwelcomed that everybody stopped talking to each

mumbling unrecognized words.

Majority Decisions
In a court case, unanimity is important. It is essential that all justices agree on a decision else
differing opinions can cause the public to question the coherency of the U.S. s justice system.
Without a coherent justice system, the public may become troubled because there are no definite
requirements or guidelines that each justice will agree upon. However, justices are but human
beings; they have the right to their own opinions and interpretation of each cases. forbidding
justices to create their own opinions and forcing them to accept a single unanimous decision is

If we are talking about act utilitarianism, it is easier to say that it is best for all justices to agree
on one opinion and not offer any other opinions. This will make the lawyers and their client
happier as it is easier to figure out if a case if worth arguing or how to structure a case to
persuade those few justices that have the strongest say in the final opinion. Less work for them
means more time for something else which equates to more happiness in sacrifice of having a
chaotic legal system. However, based on virtue ethic, I must say that it is better to allow the
justices to formulate their own opinions and state them to the lawyers. I personally do not believe
that anyone should be force to stifle their opinions. Opinions are valuable and thus needs to be free
and boundless. This will cost the lawyers more work as they have to spend more time on
interpreting and analyzing the justices opinions to understand the thought process and reasoning
behind every justice rather than having one opinion to analyze. In some way, having each justice
playing an important role in the court forces the lawyers to be creative and innovate to persuade
each justice. Creativity at the cost of more work may offset the amount of

The kids were then told that if they can wait 15 minutes before eating the marshmallow that they

Symptoms And Treatment Of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
In the current world population there is a large increase in people diagnosed with inflammatory
bowel diseases (IBDs), lactose intolerance and/or a combination of the two. Theories suggest that
the delayed onset of lactose intolerance, in patients who already have IBD s, may arise as
secondary lactose intolerance but only as a byproduct of the IBD. This begs the question of if the
prevalence of an IBD predisposes that same person to lactose intolerance and if so, what are the
drivers that allow this to happen? Inflammatory bowel diseases are categorized into two subset

Those who are lactose intolerant also have diminishes levels of lactase, the small intestinal enzyme
responsible for the catalysis of lactose. Dietary supplementation of the lactase enzyme has, in some
cases, proven to rectify the symptoms of lactose intolerance.
During infancy the vast majority of humans have the ability to digest and catabolize lactose into
glucose and galactose via the lactase enzyme. This catabolic capability is vital for newborn
mammals, given that their primary source of nutrition comes from their mother s milk. During the
weaning period, when children cease to use milk as a primary source of nutrition, the production of
the lactase enzyme severely deteriorates and eventually leads to the inability to catabolize lactose.
While this may be the natural progression of the expression of the lactase enzyme, there remains a
large, predominantly western population that maintains a steady production of lactase, those
individuals are known as lactase persistent (Baumgart, et al.).
Lactase Persistence Causes: Lactase persistence has been strongly suggested to be a function of
genetic causes and its inheritance occurs in an autosomal recessive manner. Individuals that exhibit
the highest lactase activity are genotypically homozygous recessive for lactase persistence; where
as individuals who show lower lactase activities are heterozygous or homozygous

The Future of Solar Technology
The future of solar technology clearly lies away from the expensive rigid structure of extensive
silicon crystalline structures, and towards the non silicon based technologies. Governments and
private firms must continue to invest the capital needed to fund research and development in these
fields of more flexible and versatile solar cells in order to acheieve higher efficiencies and improve
the manufacturing process of these technologies; as currently they remain in their infancy.
3.4Non Silicon Based Polycrystalline cells
Research into non silicon based solar cells is an exciting stage, with labs all over the world
making advances in this field. It has been hypothesized and proven that other semi conductor
materials can be doped to provide the conductive layer necessary for a solar cell to work. Copper
oxide was used, but it was found to not retain the doping agents well; to overcome this a new
type of cell called screening engineered field effect photovoltaics (SPFV s) were produced. These
require a small electric field to be present in order to keep the p n junction functioning, this electric
field is far less than the electricity that can be generated from the cell, and the reduced cost of not
having to use silicon makes this a more than viable resource. (Anthony, 2012)
Copper Indium Gallium Selenide cells (CIGS) are another branch of thin film photovoltaics being
researched, with laboratory prototypes achieving efficiencies of approximately 18%. CIGS cells

Servant Evangelism Research Paper
The dirty work of evangelism in regards to my conversion is not really applicable since I was
brought up in church and saved at the age of seven. I am sure there were things that went along
with the work of evangelism in my life that I am unaware of. The discipline of servant evangelism
is a critical need that has been neglected for years. Some churches have started doing it but most
still want to hold to the historical ways of outreach that do not seem to work. Servant evangelism
teaches that one must be willing, just as Jesuswas, to get their hands dirty in order to see the lost
saved. According to Will McRaney personal evangelism involves the effective communication of
the essential gospel message with the view of seeing people supernaturally become followers and
imitators of Christ. How is one to truly and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is this testimony of faith in Christ that helps break down the barrier that stands in between the
believer and unbeliever so often. As we have heard in our lectures, the way Jesus did evangelism
was modeled in the way he lived. Jesus was intentional about his witness as should be the
believer. He looked for opportunities to show his love. The believer needs to adapt this into
their daily life in order to help clear up the wrong perspectives of the gospel. My emerging
biblical theology of evangelism is being enhanced in seeing different and more exciting ways to
share the gospel. In order to change the view of many concerning the gospel we must let people
see that they do not need to wash their hands after shaking the hand of a religious person. The
believer does not need to become like the unbeliever but does not need to be seen as a pious,
egotistical,

The Short Stories Of An Hour And A Pair Of Silk Stockings
The Short Stories of Kate Chopin The short stories, The Story of an Hour and A Pair of Silk
Stockings were both written in the 1800 s. The stories are both written by Kate Chopin, a female
author. The period in which these stories were written gave impact on other female writers to
produce stories too. The literary devices Chopin uses in both these stories show how educated
female writers were at the time. The way the author, Kate Chopin, uses many literary devices in
her works, The Story of an Hour and A Pair of Silk Stockings , such as location, imagery and
characterization. FIrst, Chopin uses location in both of her stories. In The Story of an Hour the
location of the short storyis in Mrs. Mallards home. After learning of her husbands death, She
went away to her room alone (Story 463). Mrs. Mallard was locked away in her room alone with
an open window and a roomy arm chair that she sank, pressed down by a physical exhaustion that
hauned her body and seem to reach into her soul (Story 463). According to Hicks, in the
overview of The Story of an Hour , the emotion in Mrs. Mallards bedroom is indisputable, the
suspension of intelligent thought removes from the reader the need to share in the window s
grief and instead allows him or her to remain an onlooker, as eager as Mrs. Mallard to see what was
approaching to possess her (2). In A Pair of Silk Stockings Mrs. Sommers was buying expensive

The Classification Of Dynamic Games
Classification of dynamic games according to the level of information available. Information
plays a crucial role in Game theory. The high level of importance is due to the fact that it
provides us with an outline for different possible strategies that the players might undertake. 4.1.
Dynamic Games with Complete Information Complete information implies that each agent
knows both the strategies and returns of the other agents participating in the game but they may
be not be aware of the particular actions of the other players in the game. Complete and Perfect
Information. A game in which each player is aware of the actions of all other players that have
already taken place is called a game with complete and perfect information. They know the
strategies and the returns of the other players. In those games, the agents are aware of the
complete history of the game. Usually in those games there is one leader and then the rest of the
players are followers. Two player (administrator, attacker) general sum and zero sum games Let us
consider a game where there are two players, with payoffs represented by the following matrix:
B^1=[в– (ОІ_11^1 ОІ_12^1@ОІ_21^1 ОІ_22^1 )] and B^2=[в– (ОІ_11^1 ОІ_12^1@ОІ_21^1
ОІ_22^1 )] If the player 1 has an action set of A1 = {О±11, О± 21 } and the player 2 has an action
set of A2 = {О±12, О± 22 } , the payoff to the first player is matrix B^1 and to the second player is
B^2 . When we have a zero sum game the payoff for both players is always zero: B^1+B^2=0

The Issue Of The Wild Tigers
From 100,000 to 3,500.
A hundred years ago, there where over 100,000 (Tigers) in the wild, with more than 40,000 in
India alone. Currently the total number of tigers worldwide is calculated at fewer than 3,500.
(Fraser) The population has dramatically dropped; the main reason is the healing powers of the tiger
bone. The beautiful and beneficial species for decades have been killed for their bones and skin.
There are many different tiger subspecies such as: Amur tiger, Bengal tiger, Siberian tiger,
Sumatran tigers and many more, unfortunately today there are only a few subspecies left. The high
demand for the bones and skins of tigers have not yet settled down, the black market continuously
hunts the unprotected animals. Although the issue is global, it has been unknowingly neglected
from the modern society. Many believe that the species are not endangered when they visit a zoo,
but the information states otherwise. The wild tigers are decreasing in numbers, and some predict
that in no time the species will be extinct. The lack of information one withholds, prevents them
from helping and improving the living conditions of wild tigers. In order to increase the population
of endangered tigers, we should use social media to raise awareness of the current extinction rate
and in correlation with the Government create a protection plan, regarding their territory and for
those who do harm the animals, will face serious consequences.

Food And The City Summary
With a growing world population of over seven billion, the high producing agriculture industry is
becoming detrimental to the environment by most commonly effecting the freshwater needs, soil
quality, air pollution, energy consumption, the loss of habitat, and the health of the consumers.
However, there is a solution to this problem that goes beyond just the nutritional facts: urban
farming and mass organic foodproduction. Food and the City by Jennifer Cockrall King and Lentil
Underground: Renegade Farmers and the Future of Food in America by Liz Carlisle explores the
challenges and solutions to organic food production in the major cities and the midwest United

The author describes a global food revolution that began years ago from New York and Paris to
London and Toronto. Consumers are becoming aware of the food they are purchasing at their
local grocery store and realizing the grocery store is just a facade. Many small time organic farms
started disappearing because of the mass producing large scale industrial farms which became
possible after the industrial revolution. Large scale industrial farms are producing food in large
quantities with low quality while polluting the earth and harming consumers because they are
focused on one thing: profit. It makes it difficult for grocery stores to say no to these industrial
farms just because of how cheap and convenient their product is. It also allows the grocery stores
to supply produce year round that normally would not be in season in a specific area. The
sustainable factors and health of the consumers and the planet were of no concern when it came
to higher produce yields and lower costs for both the conventional industrial farms and grocery
stores. In 1996, industrial farms introduced genetically modified crops to increase yields and
make more profit. Since then, more than 70% of foods produced contain genetically altered
ingredients which has led to consumers being more prone to illnesses like cancer, diabetes, and
obesity. This idea from Food and the City makes me furious because there are so many processed
foods today that are hard to get away from. Mass industrial farms and manufacturers have found
ways to extend food s shelf life and alter the basic ingredients that would normally be considered
healthy. With all of the additives, who knows what the food actually is and the harm it could do to

Qualitative retirement
Retirement for workers is inevitable when they reach certain a age. They therefore need to plan
effectively in order to have a successful life after retirement. In most cases, people retire without

In The Paradise Of The Bachelors And Tartarus Of Maids
In The Paradise of the Bachelors and Tartarus of Maids Melville demonstrates how the oppressive
power of the upper class over the working class, molds and kill the social, emotional and physical
life of the working class while they benefit from it. Melville depicts how industrialism created an
economic separation of classes that although seemed unrelated and contradictory in their different
spaces, both sustained each other. The upper class, the bachelors, needed the labor of the lower
class to maintain the wealthy life they had and the lower class, the maids, survived with the small
wages gained with their labor. In order for the upper class to continuously enjoy their privilege,
they had to exploit in any way possible the working class.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

folders in their blank hands (12). He portrays these women as cadavers being preserved in this

the description of a physical death, then a social and emotional death.
Despite the economic distinction and living conditions that separated the bachelors and the maids,
they both have similarities. Though there are similarities, they only further expose the power of
the upper class over the working class. These similarities bring to our attention the topic

A Healthy And Balanced Diet Of Hershey s Chocolate Syrup
I don t eat a very healthy and balanced diet, but I know that I should. For this assignment I took

foods that I like wouldn t be able to find a healthy form. Some of the foods that I do like to eat do

live more healthy just like I do, but now I can tell them there are other more healthy forms of the
foods that we like. The first item that I found was something that everyone has had at least once
in their lives, Hershey s Chocolate Syrup. Hershey s has now developed a low calorie, sugar free
version of their famous syrup, but they didn t even stop there. They took it even farther and

water and cocoa instead. This product is targeting consumers that are trying to reduce the amount

2.2 The role of the Government and Open Door Policy
Deng Xiaoping set in prepare the change of China s economy when he declared a new Open Door
Policy in December 1978. Mr. Deng understood that China required Western technology, innovation
and investment, therefore he opened the path for outside organisations who needed to set up in
China (News.bbc.co.uk, n.d.). At first, four Special Economic Zones (SEZs) were farmed in South
China with tax incentives to draw in outside speculation into the nation.
As the nation is a developing economy, the government has to play a critical role to guide and
control the nation (Nove and Gerschenkron, 1963). For instance, the part of government in
enhancing general financial and social welfare ought not be expelled or belittled, even in
developed, mature economies (Reich, 1989). Developing markets are countries that are investing
in more productive capacity. They are moving far from their conventional economies that have
depended on agribusiness and the export of raw materials. Leaders of developing countries want to
create a better quality of life for the citizens. Subsequently, they are rapidly industrialising and
embracing a free market or mixed economy (Amadeo, 2016). Developing economies frequently

When setting up a new website or business online, one of the most important steps in the process
is the creation of a domain name. A domain name is the name that those on the Internet will use to
find your website. It is contained in the URL for that particular page. It is a quick means to give
users a glimpse into your site. The name you choose might be the name of your company or the
services that you provide. It may include your location or any other information you wish to

With the limited screen size on phones, space is at a premium. Additionally, shorter names allow
for more versatility when designing a mobile site.
Short domain names give the impression that the site is more trustworthy. Users are more likely to
visit a webpage with a short, easily understood URL than a long name made up various words that
have not relation to one another. Users trust that the domain name that is easily understood has a
better chance of taking them to the webpage they have in mind.
Short domain names are more adaptable for branding. Problems can occur with longer names,
especially if there are space constraints. The shorter names allow creative branding if you wish to
proceed in that direction. For instance, if you launch you site in the United States, and
subsequently wish to share it with other countries, you will have room in your URL to include
relevant country codes such as .eu or .asia. Having a short domain name leaves room for additions
such as these.
A short domain name gets your identity across with less chance of confusion. With longer names,
the meaning or identity of the site can become lost among all the words.
A short name will boost your SEO. If your domain name is one easily remembered, it will generate
more clicks. Consequently, this will give you higher rankings on Google, making your website
more successful.
Short names require much less space making it easier to include them on brochures and business

Conclusion and Suggestions to Remedy Issues Caused by Poor Nutrition
Abstract
We are a group of students at California State University of Northridge who found common interest
in the topic of child nutrition. By applying the core functions of public health, we were able to
analyze how poor child nutrition led to more serious problems such as chronic diseases and obesity.
We found out that there is plenty of data that proves obesity is caused by poor nutrition and
ultimately has led to poor health. As our group researched on the topic and related it to public
health, we have concluded that there is a relation between child nutrition and obesity. Solutions for
the problem of obesity are suggested to conclude the essay. It is important to understand that
nutrition and health are always closely related, and that child nutrition should especially be
monitored closely as children are the future of our homes, communities, and the nation.
Child Nutrition
Good nutrition is important for everyone in every age group. It is an essential part of leading a
healthy lifestyle, not only physically but also mentally. In public health, child nutrition is especially
emphasized for multiple reasons. First, children are

Investigating The Amount Of Calcium On The Calcium Oxide...
Discussion:
The purpose of this lab was to calculate the amount of calcium in Kirkland Signature s Calcium
600mg +D3 through the processes of vacuum filtration and acid base titration. These two methods
were effective in determining the amount of calcium in the calcium supplement with an error of +
/ 0.05 g; the amount of calcium stated on the label was 600 mg. The reactions that occurred during
the process of vacuum filtration were:
CaCO3 (s) + 2HCl(aq) в†’ CaCl2 (aq) +CO2 (g) + H2O(l)
CaCl2(aq) + Na2CO3(aq) в†’ CaCO3(s) +2NaCl(aq)
The amounts of calcium calculated from the two trials of vacuum filtration were 0.554 g and
0.573 g respectively. The calculations from the trials are shown in Equation 2 and Equation 3. The
results from the vacuum filtration were very close to the amount stated on the bottle. The small
deviation from the original could be the result of inadequately removing all of the ground powder
from the mortar and pestle. This caused the original mass of the supplement to be less than what
was expected, hence the smaller final amount. There was a small difference in the procedures

The Decolonization Of Mars
A lot can be said about Mars. It was named after the Roman God of War, Mars, for its red color.
One of the biggest topics of conversation regarding Mars is whether or not us humans should be
looking to colonize the Red Planet. I won t be getting into the debate of privatized or public space
programs because in the end they are both working towards a common goal of getting to Mars. The
points I will layout through this essay will be, is Mars habitable, how much money it will cost to
get to Mars, some thoughts from Stephen Petranek and is it an actual solution.
When we get to the topic of habitability on Mars, we have to focus on the main points. Is the
atmosphere able to sustain life? Are we able to grow food to feed animals and ourselves? ... Show

Food, shelter, water, and clothing. This is for Earth, when we get to Mars, we would need
oxygen as well. What has been stated earlier in the essay was having supplies brought to Mars
earlier than our intended arrival, and some of the stuff there could be dry food. In his Ted talk,
he states that about 80% of the food we would eat on Mars would be dry foods, and the other
would be grown gradually over time. Petranek says in his Ted talk that about 15 20% would be
grown from hydroponics. What this means is that plants would grow without soil, because
Martian soil is toxic. It is considered to be toxic because NASA s Curiosity rover found
perchlorates in the Martian ground. We wouldn t be able to grow food easily until there is
running water on the surface, and we found an easier way to make the dirt able to be used for
farming practices. I personally wouldn t enjoy having to eat dried foods for a long time while
living on Mars, but some other people might. I would need the greens and vegetables to thrive for
an extended amount of

Pros And Cons Of Going Out For Wrestling Essay
A crucial decision I had to make was when I decided to go out for wrestling. In the winter seventh
grade, I wanted to do a winter sport that wasn t basketball. I wasn t going to do a sport until one of
my friends told me that I could do wrestling. I told them that I would think about it and that I would
tell them if I decided on something.
When I got home that day, I did my homework started to play my Xbox. While I was playing, I
started to think of all the pros of going out for wrestling. I was think for about a minute when I
came up with the first pro. The first pro was I would be with my friends. I could think of eight
different people that were my friends who were going out for wrestling for the first time. Those
people were, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first con that I thought of was that I would have a lot less free time than usual. Wrestling
practices starts at 3:15 and ends at 5:00, by the time I get home and showered up that leaves me
with only a couple hours to get my homework done. I know it sounds like a lot of time, but it isn
t for a teenager who wants to have time to play his Xbox. Another con is, I would have to get up
at 6:30 for Wednesday practices because practice starts at 6:45 in the morning! The reason why
they do that after school is because some kids go to a youth group after school on Wednesdays.
The third and final con that I have been, I could get mat diseases or an injury. If you don t know
what a mat disease is, it is a disease that you get from wrestling on a sweaty mat. Some examples
are ring worm, impetigo (that I have had), boils and many more. When I got impetigo, I had to
sit out for three practices and a meet! An injury that you can get can be a broken neck (or any
bone) or cauliflower ear. I know now that you can get broken bones because one of my friends
broke Draydens arm by trying a chicken wing on him. Another injury that I had myself was when
we were practicing a mat return where you pull someone across your body and you take them
down, what I got hurt from was when my knee bent side ways because my foot got caught on his
ankle when he dragged me. It hurt for ten minutes but then I was back at it

British Columbia Confederation
British Columbia is a rich and fertile land located next to the Northwest Territories. We believe
that joining confederation will bring a great benefit to not only our province but to all of the
others. Our deciding factors of joining the confederation are the Transcontinental Railroad, defence
and allies from the provinces, and more settlement which will eventually arrive (due to the
railroad) in our province. There are mountains blocking British Columbia, which is preventing us
from fulfilling our full potential as a colony. British Columbia is very remote for now but if we
join confederation we can offer British Columbia s gold, fur trade, fish and lastly lumber to our
country. Our confederation will be a union under the British monarchy which will create a new and
successful dominion under the name of Hi quim inum. We would... Show more content on

British Columbia, to live safe, healthy and good lives. The railroad would also help bring in more
people. This would help us fill more jobs and more of our goods could be traded out to other
provinces for some of our needs such as money. British Columbia is also on the very west of Canada
so we need this railroad to even be relevant to Canada and to help Canada be a great place. In

Antiquity Exhibition
The Remembering Antiquity exhibition at the Getty Center was an amazing visualization of
history. The exhibition was divided into three sections, The Language of Forms, Transmission of
Knowledge, and History and Invention. The exhibition provided all sorts of objects; from
sculptures, books, manuscripts, and more. It shows that there were separations between a Roman
Age, Middle Age, and the Renaissance. People in the medieval era saw their own modern culture as
thegrowth of classical Greek and Roman traditions in art and literature. This exhibition shows us
that antiquity was conserved through visual arts, manuscripts, and more.
The section of the exhibition I chose to focus on is Transmission of Knowledge. This section
focuses on the classical knowledge that was preserved by and transmitted through the work of
medieval transcribers and artists. It is a visualization of the study of medicine and the natural
world. I chose three pieces of art to write about which are The Diagram of Ocean Currents, the

Andy Warhola
Andrew Warhola, or Andy Warhol as he later became known, was born on August 6, 1928 in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1936, at the age of 8, he contracted an A beta haemolytic streptococcal
infection, and subsequently developed the neurological disorder Sydenham s chorea, which is also
known as St. Vitus Dance. This neurological disorder, which is characterized by involuntary and
uncoordinated movements of the face, hands and feet, caused him to be bedridden. It was during
this time that young Andy Warholwas taught to draw by his mother, who possessed an impressive
artistic ability. He also sought solace from his disorder in comic books and fashion magazines,
which would provide an inspiration for his later artwork, such as the Twenty Five... Show more

Following market research that was conducted in 2005, analysts discovered that there was no
consumer trend in purchases. After deeper research, using the growing field of neuromarketing,
they discovered that this lack of trend was caused by the uniformity in label design across all
flavors offered by the company, as the consumers were not able to differentiate between the thirty
two flavors offered. The absence of a trend made it increasingly difficult for the company to decide
what the most popular flavor. Is it tomato soup, the classic chicken noodle, or perhaps cream of
mushroom? Analysts were still not able to detect a trend in purchases, and because of this, the
Campbell Soup Company made the decision to redesign the cans. This redesign, which was
released in 2010, included switching the iconic red top to the bottom of the can, removing the
spoon from the soup, adding steam, and overall modernizing the can s label design. In 2012, in
honor of the fiftieth anniversary of Andy Warhol s Campbell s Soup Cans, the Campbell Soup
Company released limited edition tomato soup cans, in a series of five, that featured the original
label and bright colors that were characteristic of Warhol s personal, pop art style. This limited
edition product, sold at seventy five cents a can, illustrates the iconography of the Campbell s can,
as the company acknowledges the significance of Warhol s artwork and the impact his style made

The Fellowship Of The Ring Critical Lens
Trust is something that is difficult to find, however once found is worth more than any amount of
money. In life we are faced with many obligations. More often than not these obligations may first
appear as burdens, putting a bump in the journey of life. An example of one of these burdens is in
trusting and being trustworthy with yourself and others. When we place trustin people worthy of
such honor ,great challenges can be overcome. In the movie The Lord of the Rings The
Fellowship of the Ring, written by J.R Tolkien and directed by Peter Jackson, a group of diverse
individuals must learn to trust each other dispite historical and cultural difference. Frodo has the

I have had the reciprocal effect of having to trust others and in being trustworthy to others.
Putting your life in the hands of others is a tremendous burden. With regards to the movie The
Fellowship of the Ring the little hobbit named Frodo Baggins is given the monstrous task of
taking the ring of power to Mordor for it to be destroyed. Along the way he has some help from
some others who he must trust with keeping him alive. For instance, from the novel he explains
But it does not seem that I can trust anyone, said Frodo.Sam looked at him unhappily. It all
depends on what you want, put in Merry. You can trust us to stick with you through thick and thin
to the bitter end. And you can trust us to keep any secret of yours closer than you keep it
yourself. But you cannot trust us to let you face trouble alone, and go off without a word. We are
your friends, Frodo. (The Lord of the Rings novel,The fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R

Melinda Courageous Quotes
Harassment, exclusion, physical assault, these things should not have to be suffered by anyone.
Well that s all what speak is about, Melinda, a freshman who is bullied and ignored for calling the
police during a summer party. But that s not what I m here to talk about, I m talking about why it s
important to be courageous, and I m using the book speak, as an example. Put simply, it s
important to be courageous because everyone has to stand up for themselves.
It s important for people to stand up for themselves because if they don t, they will never
improve and they ll be vulnerable when they are threatened or treated unfairly. In this quote,
Melinda is stuck in the janitors closet and is being attacked by Andy Evans. But then Melinda
chooses to fight back, she grabs a piece of broken glass and puts it to his throat: His lips are
paralyzed. He cannot speak. That s good enough. Me: I said no. (Anderson Pg 195). If she had not
been courageous enough to stand up for herself, she could have been hurt, or worse. That s why it
is important to be courageous and for people to protect themselves. Giving up and giving in could
be detrimental to them and move them farther away from their goal or get themselves hurt. ... Show

But persistence is key if they want to improve, and it takes courage to do something to improve
yourself. In this quote, Melinda is trying to better her situation and to overcome her trauma from
the summer before: I go to every single class for a week. It feels good to know what the teachers
are talking about again. (Anderson Pg 120). Improving yourself is challenging, and mustering up
the courage to persist and keep trying could help other people to

Spanking as a Disciplinary Method
In this literature review, the recent findings about spanking as a disciplinary method for a child is
70% of America adults agreed that it is sometimes necessary to discipline a child with spanking
(Petts, 2002). Spanking helps the child fit into the real world happily and effectively. It is the
foundation for the development of the child s own self discipline (Tobias, 1999). Discipline such as
spankingis about teaching and guiding children, not just forcing them to obey. When using
spanking to discipline, the child should always know that the parent loves and supports him or her.
Trust between parent and child should be maintained and constantly built upon. Studies show that
spanking, properly utilized, can lead to well adjusted children (Dobson, 1992). The discipline of
children has become a very controversial subject and emotional issue, especially in the light of
today s plague of child abuse. There will always be arguments on both sides.
Some Christian parents view spanking as a solution for discipline their children according to Gods
word. Spanking is used to instruct their children in the ways of God. It is important to view
spanking in the total context of child development. While the Bible advocates corporal punishment,
it also places stern restrictions on its use. Spanking should never occur when a parent is angry
(Lansford, Wager, Bates, Pettit, Dodge, 2012). According to the Bible, parents must lovingly shape
their children according to God s

Peter Singer Analysis
Poverty and hunger is a common social issue that affects a large percentage of the world
population, and has troubled nations all over the world for thousands of years. It s an issue that
we can experience every day without realizing it. We might see a commercial asking for donations
on television, or a homeless woman asking for money to feed her son at the bus stop, or in the
news when they talk about children dying of starvation.
Now, this issue brings out a particular question; are we obligated to donate and help those in
need? Do we have a moral obligation to do so? Or is helping those in need morally optional? Peter
Singer and Jan Narveson both discuss this issue, yet both have very different opinions. Peter in one
hand, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believes helping those in need, and giving donation, is completely optional. Opposed to Peter
s belief, Jan indicated that there is a distinction from not preventing something bad from
happening, than actually making it happen. For example, If I was to lock you in a room and let
you starve to death, I have consiensly murder you. But if someone else was to do the same thing
to you, you would have died of starvation. The outcome was not intended by my actions. If was to
know that you were starving, I might feel pity for you and would want to help you, or pehaps I
would feel indifferent to what you are going thought, either way, my previous activities did not
cause your outcome, therefore I may choose if I want to help you or not. Jan also indicates that
there is a difference between justice and charity. Justice are those actions that we are enforced to
do. Charity is not. Charity is voluntarily wanting to help and benefit those less fortunate. It is
sometimes morally allowed to force someone to fulfill their justice duties, but it is not morally
allowed to force someone to be charitable. Charity is something you do because you want to, and
perhaps there is emotion behind that action. If we force people to be charitable, it will no longer be
charity, but

  • 2. Statue Of Zeus Greek The Statue of Zeus at Olympia There are Seven Wonders of the World. The number seven was chosen because the Greeks believed it represented perfection. Also because it was the number of the five planets, plus the sun and the moon. The Statue of Zeus was a giant seated figure. The technique used to build the statue is known as Chryselephantine. Chryselephantine is gold plated, bronze, and ivory sections are attached to the wooden flame. The throne section of the statue is made out of gold, ebony, ivory, and inlaid with precious stones. • 3. Teen Depression And Suicide Teen Depression and Suicide Mother Teresa once said, Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty. Studies have shown that approximately 20% of teens experience depression before they reach adulthood. According to the American Psychiatric Association, depression is a common and serious mental illness that negatively affects how you feel and act. While it is treatable through therapy or medication, only 1 in 3 teens who suffer from depression receive the treatment they need after their diagnosis. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young adults ages 15 to 24 in fact, studies have shown that someone takes their own life every 100 minutes. Young adults with enormous potential are taking their own lives at alarming rates, and these numbers may very well continue to increase unless we band together as a society to take action. In order to help teens with depression eliminate the risk of suicide, doctors must administer depression screenings, teachers must be trained on how to deal with and respond to mental illnesses, and parents must be educated on the signs and treatment of depression. One way to help teens with undiagnosed depression get help is to add screenings for depression to routine doctor checkups for patients ages 12 to 18. Depression screenings may be presented as a short questionnaire or a simple conversation with your doctor in which you are asked about your feelings and behaviors. The process usually takes only five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Why Are Internships Important In Social Work Degree Programs Laura: Why Are Internships Important in Social Work Degree Programs? The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) recommends accredited social work degree programs to offer internships and practicums. The CSWE s Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards states that internships are a kind of field education that must meet certain requirements. Internships must be directly associated with an accredited social work program at institution of higher learning. The internship should have academic structure with established classroom objectives. Students should be offered educational credit, the internship should be supervised by a social worker and schools cannot substitute internships for mandatory classroom training. http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation.aspx The Benefits of a Internships for Social Workers Social work internships provide a strong dose of reality for students. • 5. A Clockwork Orange Essay Anthony Burgess novel, A Clockwork Orange, depicts a somber and disconsolate future that is filled with violence, rape, and destruction. Burgess challenges the loyalty of the reader towards the narrator and main character, Alex, throughout the course of the novel. In the beginning, the reader does not have an emotional connection to Alex; however, as the novel progresses and Alex begins his course of ruthless, violent acts, the reader builds up a sense of loathing toward Alex. Despite this, by the end of the novel, the reader almost begins to develop a sense of solicitude for Alex. Burgess insists that he based nadsat, the invented slang of the teenage hooligans in A Clockwork Orange, on Russian for aesthetic reasons, but it is believed that this experience influenced his portrayal of Alex and his gang. The dystopian world of the novel draws attention to the elements of the American and English societies that Burgess detested. Burgess had a tendency toward anarchy and felt the socialistic British welfare state was too willing to sacrifice individual liberty in favor of social stability (A Clockwork Orange). He despised American popular culture due to its fostering of homogeneity, passivity, and apathy. He regarded American law enforcement as being corrupt and violent. Each of these targets are pointed out in A Clockwork Orange. The film recreation of the novel features Alex and his droogs spending their nights getting high before embarking on various acts of violence. One of these acts of violence includes tyrannizing a writer, Mr. Alexander, and gang raping his wife, who later dies as a result. Alex is later jailed for bludgeoning the Cat Lady to death. In most stories the forest is always symbolized with a negative effect. It is shown with evil and something bad to become which is the case in Goodman Brown. As he journeys out of his little town to go for his adventure he leave his wife which is named Faith, showing symbolism of evil to come through the adventure through the forest. Predmore states, As he leaves Faith he knows that hes night journey has an evil purpose (251). This shows that GoodmanBrown is leaving his faith behind which can be interpreted as his religionto venture out into the forest. This means that the theme of the forest is evil and he comes to danger because he leaves his religious belief (a form of protection) behind to go to a place... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before Goodman Brown ventures out his journey is seen as a peaceful good one but as soon as he enters the forest everything begins to turn left for him. Hawthorne uses negative nouns to explain the forest, which you could portray as evil He had taken a dreary road, darkened by all the gloomiest trees of the forest (Hawthorne, 453). This then shows the contrast between light and dark which would be explained as good vs evil. According to Hurley in Heart Of Darkness Goodman Brown s alliance with evil is suggested by contrasting images of light and dark which intimate a symbolic opposition between good and evil. The forest holds such a strong symbol of fear and evil that terms like devil witch were commonly used to describe what Goodman Brown was feeling or seeing There may be a devilish Indian behind every tree, said Goodman Brown to himself. • 9. The Last Armed Conflict Of The Western Hemisphere The last armed conflict in the western hemisphere is coming to an end bringing hope of a peaceful and better world to all of us. This was the message President Santos of Colombia delivered to the general assembly of the United Nations in 2014. The ongoing peace process sits down the government and the FARC with the objective of ending hostilities and negotiating a social reform. The FARC guerrilla was founded almost 50 years ago in a small town south of Colombia where the villagers were tired of the government s inequality and bad treatments. After 50 years of conflict, the social purpose of the armed group has disappeared and now they are terrorists and drug traffickers. After 2 years of ongoing negotiations, 3 out of 5 agenda points have been agreed upon. In his speech for the international community President Santos effectively gets their support for the process using an authoritarian tone, a positive diction, and an appeal to sympathy from them showing the horrors of warand the benefits of peace. He also understands the end of this conflict not only benefits Colombia but sets a precedent for the rest of the world and convinces the other leaders of this. At that point, we begin to question whether the video gamewe have grown to love was doing something more than entertain us for the time being. • 12. The Invention Of The Electron Microscope By Ernst Ruska... In the scientific community, there have been many advancements in the technologies and processes used to help us understand the truth of the world around us. The invention of the electron microscope by Ernst Ruska and Max Knoll in 1933 is just an example of one of these advancements. There is another advancement that has roots over one hundred and sixty million years old, and that is the green fluorescent protein(GFP). The fluorescence from GFP molecules has made it feasible to look through a microscope at a spatial resolution higher than the diffraction limit. The green fluorescent proteinwas first found in the Aequorea Victoria, or the crystal jellyfish. It is a bioluminescent hydrozoan jellyfish, or hydromedusa (1). In the crystal jellyfish, there are two proteins that are responsible for its bioluminescent, aequorin and GFP. They are both located in the photo organs of the jellyfish. The jellyfish releases calcium ions which the aequorin binds to. The process of binding gives off a blue light, which is then absorbed by the GFP. The blue light absorbed is then converted into the green light that GFP is named for (2). At the moment there is no apparent reason for the bioluminescence displayed by the Aequorea Victoria since it has not been observed being used as a defense mechanism or as a signalling mechanism. Osamu Shimomura was the first person to isolate the GFP. He started to study the bioluminescence of crystal jellyfish at Princeton University in 1960 and he and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The kids were led into a empty room and was offered a marshmallow. The kids were then told that if they can wait 15 minutes before eating the marshmallow that they could have another marshmallow. There was 600 kids that was in this experiment and some ate the marshmallow instantly while others looked away to be able to wait long enough. • 18. Symptoms And Treatment Of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases In the current world population there is a large increase in people diagnosed with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs), lactose intolerance and/or a combination of the two. Theories suggest that the delayed onset of lactose intolerance, in patients who already have IBD s, may arise as secondary lactose intolerance but only as a byproduct of the IBD. This begs the question of if the prevalence of an IBD predisposes that same person to lactose intolerance and if so, what are the drivers that allow this to happen? Inflammatory bowel diseases are categorized into two subset categories, ulcerative colitis(UC) and Crohn s disease. IBD s are defined as a chronic inflammation of all or part of a digestive tract. Those who are lactose intolerant also have diminishes levels of lactase, the small intestinal enzyme responsible for the catalysis of lactose. Dietary supplementation of the lactase enzyme has, in some cases, proven to rectify the symptoms of lactose intolerance. During infancy the vast majority of humans have the ability to digest and catabolize lactose into glucose and galactose via the lactase enzyme. This catabolic capability is vital for newborn mammals, given that their primary source of nutrition comes from their mother s milk. During the weaning period, when children cease to use milk as a primary source of nutrition, the production of the lactase enzyme severely deteriorates and eventually leads to the inability to catabolize lactose. While this may be the natural progression of the expression of the lactase enzyme, there remains a large, predominantly western population that maintains a steady production of lactase, those individuals are known as lactase persistent (Baumgart, et al.). Lactase Persistence Causes: Lactase persistence has been strongly suggested to be a function of genetic causes and its inheritance occurs in an autosomal recessive manner. Individuals that exhibit the highest lactase activity are genotypically homozygous recessive for lactase persistence; where as individuals who show lower lactase activities are heterozygous or homozygous ... Hannibal is a better general than Scipio Africanus because he was a master mind with his tactics, great at winning the big battles, and people believed in him and what he was doing. The Beginning Of Scipio Scipio Africanus was born in 236 B.C., into which he was born into a one of the excellent patrician homes. As he always did he constructed a very strategic plan and distracted them by attacking them straight on while he also flanked them from the sides. Quickly after that victory he scored another one and took control of Gades which then completed Rome s control over Spain. The Beginning of Hannibal Hannibal was born in Carthage in 247 B.C. The Future of Solar Technology The future of solar technology clearly lies away from the expensive rigid structure of extensive silicon crystalline structures, and towards the non silicon based technologies. Governments and private firms must continue to invest the capital needed to fund research and development in these fields of more flexible and versatile solar cells in order to acheieve higher efficiencies and improve the manufacturing process of these technologies; as currently they remain in their infancy. 3.4Non Silicon Based Polycrystalline cells Research into non silicon based solar cells is an exciting stage, with labs all over the world making advances in this field. It has been hypothesized and proven that other semi conductor materials can be doped to provide the conductive layer necessary for a solar cell to work. Copper oxide was used, but it was found to not retain the doping agents well; to overcome this a new type of cell called screening engineered field effect photovoltaics (SPFV s) were produced. These require a small electric field to be present in order to keep the p n junction functioning, this electric field is far less than the electricity that can be generated from the cell, and the reduced cost of not having to use silicon makes this a more than viable resource. The high level of importance is due to the fact that it provides us with an outline for different possible strategies that the players might undertake. 4.1. Dynamic Games with Complete Information Complete information implies that each agent knows both the strategies and returns of the other agents participating in the game but they may be not be aware of the particular actions of the other players in the game. Complete and Perfect Information. A game in which each player is aware of the actions of all other players that have already taken place is called a game with complete and perfect information. They know the strategies and the returns of the other players. In those games, the agents are aware of the complete history of the game. Usually in those games there is one leader and then the rest of the players are followers. Two player (administrator, attacker) general sum and zero sum games Let us consider a game where there are two players, with payoffs represented by the following matrix: B^1=[в– (ОІ_11^1 ОІ_12^1@ОІ_21^1 ОІ_22^1 )] and B^2=[в– (ОІ_11^1 ОІ_12^1@ОІ_21^1 ОІ_22^1 )] If the player 1 has an action set of A1 = {О±11, О± 21 } and the player 2 has an action set of A2 = {О±12, О± 22 } , the payoff to the first player is matrix B^1 and to the second player is B^2 . Currently the total number of tigers worldwide is calculated at fewer than 3,500. (Fraser) The population has dramatically dropped; the main reason is the healing powers of the tiger bone. The beautiful and beneficial species for decades have been killed for their bones and skin. Consumers are becoming aware of the food they are purchasing at their local grocery store and realizing the grocery store is just a facade. Many small time organic farms started disappearing because of the mass producing large scale industrial farms which became possible after the industrial revolution. Large scale industrial farms are producing food in large quantities with low quality while polluting the earth and harming consumers because they are focused on one thing: profit. It makes it difficult for grocery stores to say no to these industrial farms just because of how cheap and convenient their product is. It also allows the grocery stores to supply produce year round that normally would not be in season in a specific area. The sustainable factors and health of the consumers and the planet were of no concern when it came to higher produce yields and lower costs for both the conventional industrial farms and grocery stores. A domain name is the name that those on the Internet will use to find your website. It is contained in the URL for that particular page. It is a quick means to give users a glimpse into your site. The name you choose might be the name of your company or the services that you provide. It may include your location or any other information you wish to include. No matter what information you include, when a user encounters your domain namethey should be able to tell who you are or what service you offer. Short domain names give the impression that the site is more trustworthy. Users are more likely to visit a webpage with a short, easily understood URL than a long name made up various words that have not relation to one another. Users trust that the domain name that is easily understood has a better chance of taking them to the webpage they have in mind. Short domain names are more adaptable for branding. Problems can occur with longer names, especially if there are space constraints. The shorter names allow creative branding if you wish to proceed in that direction. For instance, if you launch you site in the United States, and subsequently wish to share it with other countries, you will have room in your URL to include relevant country codes such as .eu or .asia. Having a short domain name leaves room for additions such as these. A short domain name gets your identity across with less chance of confusion. With longer names, the meaning or identity of the site can become lost among all the words. A short name will boost your SEO. If your domain name is one easily remembered, it will generate more clicks. Consequently, this will give you higher rankings on Google, making your website more successful. • 41. Investigating The Amount Of Calcium On The Calcium Oxide... Discussion: The purpose of this lab was to calculate the amount of calcium in Kirkland Signature s Calcium 600mg +D3 through the processes of vacuum filtration and acid base titration. These two methods were effective in determining the amount of calcium in the calcium supplement with an error of + / 0.05 g; the amount of calcium stated on the label was 600 mg. The reactions that occurred during the process of vacuum filtration were: CaCO3 (s) + 2HCl(aq) в†’ CaCl2 (aq) +CO2 (g) + H2O(l) CaCl2(aq) + Na2CO3(aq) в†’ CaCO3(s) +2NaCl(aq) The amounts of calcium calculated from the two trials of vacuum filtration were 0.554 g and 0.573 g respectively. The calculations from the trials are shown in Equation 2 and Equation 3. The results from the vacuum filtration were very close to the amount stated on the bottle. The small deviation from the original could be the result of inadequately removing all of the ground powder from the mortar and pestle. This caused the original mass of the supplement to be less than what was expected, hence the smaller final amount. There was a small difference in the procedures between the two trials of vacuum filtration. During the second trial, more care and attention was given to make sure that the entire calcium supplement was transferred from the mortar and pestle to the 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask. Because more care was given, the calculated amount of calcium increased by 0.019 g. The other method used in this lab was an acid base titration. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the biggest topics of conversation regarding Mars is whether or not us humans should be looking to colonize the Red Planet. I won t be getting into the debate of privatized or public space programs because in the end they are both working towards a common goal of getting to Mars. The points I will layout through this essay will be, is Mars habitable, how much money it will cost to get to Mars, some thoughts from Stephen Petranek and is it an actual solution. In his Ted talk, he states that about 80% of the food we would eat on Mars would be dry foods, and the other would be grown gradually over time. Petranek says in his Ted talk that about 15 20% would be grown from hydroponics. What this means is that plants would grow without soil, because Martian soil is toxic. It is considered to be toxic because NASA s Curiosity rover found perchlorates in the Martian ground. We wouldn t be able to grow food easily until there is running water on the surface, and we found an easier way to make the dirt able to be used for farming practices. Spanking as a Disciplinary Method In this literature review, the recent findings about spanking as a disciplinary method for a child is 70% of America adults agreed that it is sometimes necessary to discipline a child with spanking (Petts, 2002). Spanking helps the child fit into the real world happily and effectively. It is the foundation for the development of the child s own self discipline (Tobias, 1999). Discipline such as spankingis about teaching and guiding children, not just forcing them to obey. When using spanking to discipline, the child should always know that the parent loves and supports him or her. Trust between parent and child should be maintained and constantly built upon. Studies show that spanking, properly utilized, can lead to well adjusted children (Dobson, 1992). The discipline of children has become a very controversial subject and emotional issue, especially in the light of today s plague of child abuse. There will always be arguments on both sides. Some Christian parents view spanking as a solution for discipline their children according to Gods word. Spanking is used to instruct their children in the ways of God.
