With 3G, it took about a day to download an HD movie. LTE networks, available now, slashed the time to minutes. A 5G network would reduce the wait time to seconds.
That kind of speed changes everything. Latency would disappear. Engineers could build networks of connected vehicles that would relay relevant traffic information, and automatically maintain safe driving distances. Telemedicine would become viable. Imagine a world where doctors in Boston use cutting-edge robotics to perform delicate surgeries in Mumbai. Drones and self-driving cars would be able to build real-time 3D maps to operate more efficiently.
The stakes are high."

Academic definitions of the smart city, what are the different business models for smart cities and how can they be implemented? How can data be used in an efficient manner?
In this presentation, Venkatesh introduces IoT and associated trends. His interest area lies in analytics of data obtained through sensors. Some of his ideas include predicting mean sea level based on Oxygen levels, Intelligent transport systems etc.
Cloud based Smart City hubs are an attractive approach to addressing some of the complex issues faced when deploying PaaS infrastructure for Smart Cities. In this paper we introduce the general notion of IoT hubs and then discusses our work to generalize our IoT hub as a Smart City PaaS. Two key issues are identified, support for hybrid public/private cloud and interoperability. We briefly describe our approach to these issues and discuss our experiences deploying two cloud-based Smart City hubs, one in the UK and the other in Canada.

The Internet of Things (IoT) comes with great possibilities as well as major security and privacy issues. Although digital forensics has long been studied in both academia and industry, mobility forensics is relatively new and unexplored. Mobility forensics deals with tools and techniques that work towards forensically sound recovery of data and evidence from mobile devices [1]. In this paper, we explore mobility forensics in the context of IoT. This paper discusses the data collection and classification process from IoT smart home devices in details. It also contains attack scenario based analysis of collected data and a proposed mobility forensics model that fits into such scenarios.

Autonomous Vehicles - Impacts and OpportunitiesPeter Shannon
Autonomous vehicles can evolve to impact society in profound ways by challenging assumptions we have lived by for generations. This presentation (and the discussion it supports) will explore the new opportunities as well as the challenges of autonomous vehicles, from how they will impact individuals’ lives during early adoption to how they will remake the urban cityscape in the long term. We will explore the technology’s impact on the concepts of vehicle ownership, parking, travel planning, and other parts of our lives shaped today around humans at the wheel, as well as practical challenges to realizing the long term opportunities.

Paper Presentation: On the Internet of Things, Trust is RelativeThe uTRUSTit Project
This is a presentation of NR's position paper, "On the Internet of Things, Trust is Relative." This position paper was presented at a workshop called, "Privacy, Trust and Interaction in the Internet of Things" that was part of the 2011 International Joint Conference on Ambient Intelligence (AmI-11) held in Amsterdam.
Each author was given 10 minutes to present the paper, so this is presented more as a pitch to read the actual paper. The presentation has been optimized to work standalone on SlideShare.

A decades-old dream is on the verge of coming true. Autonomous vehicles (AVs) will hit the road as early as 2017, when several original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and technology companies plan to launch pilot projects or roll out commercial vehicles with varying levels of self-driving capability. Mass adoption of self-driving technology will deliver tremendous economic benefits. But it will also disrupt business as usual for a wide variety of companies, including OEMs, mobility providers, and component makers. The coming AV era raises urgent questions for executives of these companies: What is the cost of these technologies and what are consumers willing to pay for them? How fast will mass markets adopt AVs and how might car sharing and societal shifts impact these introductions? What technological challenges must be overcome to enable fully autonomous driving? Where should OEMs and new entrants focus their R&D investments? And how should players in the AV market address consumer concerns around safety, lack of control, and the risks of faulty technology?
IoT the driver of Business Innovation: better products, new services and...Eurotech
The IoT is the manifestation that the raw material of the information age is data. Data is the new source of innovation and the lever to achieve business sustainability. By extracting data from assets and products, companies can become more efficient through a strategic rethinking of their value chains and business processes. In so doing, companies will add the required readiness to shift from products to services, and eventually enter in the outcome economy. To truly embrace the digital transformation, organizations need to collect actionable data from their assets, processes, and products and then connect the OT world where data are generated to IT world where data are consumed. To make this happen, a IoT integration platform, that gives to the App an easy and versatile access to the data, is required . As a matter of fact the IoT essence resides in an impressive simplification of the OT-IT integration through a loosely coupled containerized layered (LC2L) architecture. The benefits are huge: the transformation of any business into a smart business, increasing competitiveness also in mature markets; the creation of new innovative products and services; and the enablement of service prosumerization. Abundance of data is the real essence of IoT, where the App is the tip of the data iceberg.

Wireless communication involves the transmission of information over a distance without the help of wires, cables or any other forms of electrical conductors.
Wireless communication is a broad term that incorporates all procedures and forms of connecting and communicating between two or more devices using a wireless signal through wireless communication technologies and devices.
Features of Wireless Communication
The evolution of wireless technology has brought many advancements with its effective features.
The transmitted distance can be anywhere between a few meters (for example, a television's remote control) and thousands of kilometers (for example, radio communication).
Wireless communication can be used for cellular telephony, wireless access to the internet, wireless home networking, and so on.
