Financial Projections Model
v6.8.3
This financial model is designed to enable entrepreneurs and students project the financial results of their ventures for a five-year period. As with all models there are certain simplifying assumptions that have been made. Each of the assumption spreadsheets has an accompanying Comments box (denoted by a cell with small red triangle in the upper right corner) that provides suggestions on how to complete the spreadsheet and the underlying assumptions to the model.
You will notice that the cells in the spreadsheet are color-coded. This has been done to assist you in entering data, creating or changing formulae, or deleting data, formulae and links.
Enter data and information in Green shaded cells only.
Blue shaded cells calculate results within a spreadsheet.
Data in Yellow shaded cells is transferred to other worksheets.
Purple shaded cells bring in data from other spreadsheets.
In the Green and Blue shaded cells, data and formulas may changed, moved or deleted. The current calculations are for illustration only -- you will need to tailor these spreadsheets to fit your plan.
In the Yellow shaded cells data and formulas may be changed, but not deleted.
DO NOT delete the Purple shaded cells -- they link one spreadsheet with others.

BALANCE: Balance Sheet
CASHFLOW: Cash Flow Statement
BREAKEVEN: Break-even analysis
SUMMARY: Analysis of key measures
INCOME-MOS: Income Statements by months for Years 1 to 5
CASHFLOW-MOS: Cash flow Statements by months for Years 1 and 2, and
by quarters for Years 3 to 5
VAL-1 & VAL-2: Venture capital method for valuing companies
All other spreadsheets are to be used for calculating the underlying assumptions of the 7 principal spreadsheets:

This financial model is designed to enable entrepreneurs and students project the financial results of their ventures for a five-year period. As with all models there are certain simplifying assumptions that have been made. For this assignment, you will complete the Financial Overview component of your course project. To complete this assignment, use the Financial Analysis Toolkit Excel file, provided in the Resources, to complete a financial analysis of your chosen company (Apple Inc,) over the last two most recent years available in annual reports. Replace the numbers provided in the Excel file with the appropriate numbers for your firm. Then, write a 2–3 page financial analysis of your company, addressing the following elements:
Identify your company, its industry, and analyze the important segments (percentage of sales or subsidiaries) of your company compared to its industry and its overall business.
Perform a complete financial analysis of your chosen company's financial statements—horizontal, vertical (Percentage of Sales and Common-Size), and changes in ratios—for the last two years.
Compare all ratios to industry averages. Evaluate the company's ratios against the industry averages.
Explain the significance of the company's ratios when compared to industry averages.
Analyze the company's cash flows.
Assess the overall financial health of your company based on this financial analysis.

Tool Kit for Analysis of Financial Statements
Financial statements are analyzed by calculating certain key ratios and then comparing them with the ratios of other firms and by examining the trends in ratios over time.
We can also combine ratios to make the analysis more revealing, those indicated below are exceptionally useful for this type of analysis.

A. This discussion assignment will allow for the completion of a ratio analysis. It will also provide information that will be useful as you prepare the written report for Assignment 1: Financial Research Report, which is due at the end of Week 9.
Step 1
: Select a publicly-traded company that you will (or might) use for Assignment 1: Financial Research Report, which is due at the end of Week 9.
Step 2
: Locate financial ratio data from Mergent Online. Financial statements, ratios, and other useful information are available from the Mergent Online database that is available through the Strayer University Learning Resource Center (online). Please notice that financial ratios are grouped into appropriate categories (Profitability Ratios, Liquidity Ratios, Debt Management Ratios, and Asset Management Ratios), which makes it easy to set up the ratios and use them in the analysis.
Accessing the Mergent Online Database – Financial Statements for companies, financial ratios, and Form 10K annual reports can be obtained from the Strayer University Learning Resource Center, which is accessible from the Online Classroom (see tab at the top of the screen).

For Form 10K Annual Reports – Select “Filings” tab (and then select the most recent Annual Form 10K report)
Step 3
: Enter the financial ratio data into the Financial Ratio Analysis Model (the attached Excel spreadsheet). The data need to be entered into the yellow-coded cells (column is titled “Oldest Year”) progressing to the most recent year on the left (column is titled “Most Recent Year”).
The model presently contains financial information for McCormick & Company (Stock Ticker MKC).
You will note that the Excel spreadsheet model is programmed to identify if each ratio improved or deteriorated over the time period. And, the spreadsheet is programmed to calculate the percentage change in each of the ratios during the same period. This information should be helpful as you prepare your analysis.
(Note: This spreadsheet could be “imported” into the Assignment 1: Financial Research Report due at the end of Week 10.)
Step 4
: Prepare an analysis and discussion of the financial ratio data that are examined in the Financial Ratio Analysis Model. It is always appropriate to include the actual ratio data in the written analysis in addition to its presentation in a table, chart or graph.

In 2007, American Cable Communications (ACC) was faced with the decision of whether or not to buy out AirThread Connections (ATC), a large regional cellular provider.
At the time ACC was one of the largest cable companies in the United States, with an expected revenue of $30.9 billion and net income of $2.6 million.
The potential acquisition of ATC would allow ACC to fill an identified market gap by offering more bundled services (video, internet, landline, and wireless).
ACC would also be in a better position to ward off the competitive threat from wireless networks.

The ACC approaches acquisitions using an LBO type framework.
The company hopes to maximize returns by minimizing its equity in the investment and taking advantage of interest tax shields.
The debt will then be paid down using the target’s cash flows until a long-term sustainable D/V ratio is attained.
Given American Cable’s approach to ATC acquisition, a pertinent question is the impact of debt policy on the valuation.

Valuation Approach: Which Method?
The changing debt balance in the first period (or explicit forecast period) rules out FCFF method which is dependent on WACC. That would require periodic re-estimation of WACC.
However, once a constant target debt ratio is reached, FCFF method can be deployed.
We can use a bifurcated model where we employ the APV method for the first period as the D/E ratio declines, and switch to FCF method for the terminal period.

Why Psychological Safety Matters for Software Teams - ACE 2024 - Ben Linders.pdf
Psychological safety in teams is important; team members must feel safe and able to communicate and collaborate effectively to deliver value. It’s also necessary to build long-lasting teams since things will happen and relationships will be strained.
But, how safe is a team? How can we determine if there are any factors that make the team unsafe or have an impact on the team’s culture?
In this mini-workshop, we’ll play games for psychological safety and team culture utilizing a deck of coaching cards, The Psychological Safety Cards. We will learn how to use gamification to gain a better understanding of what’s going on in teams. Individuals share what they have learned from working in teams, what has impacted the team’s safety and culture, and what has led to positive change.
Different game formats will be played in groups in parallel. Examples are an ice-breaker to get people talking about psychological safety, a constellation where people take positions about aspects of psychological safety in their team or organization, and collaborative card games where people work together to create an environment that fosters psychological safety.
Proposal: The Ark Project and The BEEP Inc
1.) Introduction
Our Movement is not new; it is the same as it was for Freedom, Justice, and Equality since we were labeled as slaves. However, this movement at its core must entail economics.
2.) Historical Context
This is the same movement because none of the previous movements, such as boycotts, were ever completed. For some, maybe, but for the most part, it’s just a place to keep your stable until you’re ready to assimilate them into your system. The rest of the crabs are left in the world’s worst parts, begging for scraps.
3.) Economic Empowerment
Our Movement aims to show that it is indeed possible for the less fortunate to establish their economic system. Everyone else – Caucasian, Asian, Mexican, Israeli, Jews, etc. – has their systems, and they all set up and usurp money from the less fortunate. So, the less fortunate buy from every one of them, yet none of them buy from the less fortunate. Moreover, the less fortunate really don’t have anything to sell.
4.) Collaboration with Organizations
Our Movement will demonstrate how organizations such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, National Urban League, Black Lives Matter, and others can assist in creating a much more indestructible Black Wall Street.
5.) Vision for the Future
Our Movement will not settle for less than those who came before us and stopped before the rights were equal. The economy, jobs, healthcare, education, housing, incarceration – everything is unfair, and what isn’t is rigged for the less fortunate to fail, as evidenced in society.
6.) Call to Action
Our movement has started and implemented everything needed for the advancement of the economic system. There are positions for only those who understand the importance of this movement, as failure to address it will continue the degradation of the people deemed less fortunate.

- 4. The message about how employee costs compare to the budget gets lost in the sea of numbers and the use of accounting notation. The first step is to write a headline and eliminate all the numbers that do not relate to the message.

- 6. The second step is to replace financial notation or jargon with visual indicators. In my recent survey on financial presentations, audiences told me that they want visuals they can easily understand. It is often easiest to use symbols in the Wingdings 3 font. - 8. The third step is to use color to indicate the meaning of the number. In general, green indicates good performance and red indicates poor performance.
- 9. Selecting the colors depends on the context of the numbers. In this case, since we are looking at expenses, a negative value (which was shown by the red and brackets originally) is a positive result, so it should be indicated with a green arrow.

- 11. Since the indicators are characters in a font, it is easy to just change the font color for those characters. This also makes it easy to build using animation if you use a text box instead of a table. Click here to watch a video on creating tables of numbers using a text box.
- 12. The final step is to add a callout to explain any important message or answer a question that the audience is likely to have. - 14. When you are presenting a table of numbers, use only the numbers that relate to your message, and use color coded visual indicators to help the audience understand the significance of the numbers.
