2. The plot of this short film revolves around a young girl
who is battling skin cancer. The narrative takes us through
her having flashbacks of before she had the illness to the
present time of her dying . The opening shot is of her
describing a dream she has had by a voice over. Shots of
her looking beautiful and youthful lead the audience to
think this is what now she wish she could still have and
that this is no longer her image . She describes how her
boyfriend had recently died in a car accident and the guilt
she feels for wanting to end her painful chemotherapy
and to be with him once more. It gives the representation
of a patients story and how they feel society look at them
but more importantly how they now view society , as
unappreciative and delusional to the more important
things.

3. The film uses 3 short pieces of music to represent
certain stages of the film. In the beginning we hear soft
diegetic piano music after her talking about her dream
, giving the connotation that her dreams are filled with
peace and the absence of any illness. The music
corresponds with the protagonists emotions, as we get
closer to the pivotal turning point in the film the music
becomes more dramatic and shots become more fast
pace in showing who she is and who she wishes to be.
Then , silence is in combination with a simple shot of
the girl crying which brings the audience almost back
down to reality that the girl will soon die.

4. The relation to nature is an apparent
theme throughout the film . At the start
when she is talking about her dream , she
is holding coloured flowers and while
speaking of freedom she blows on a
daffodil which would represent the
freedom she longs for. Further into the
film she brushes past a green bush and we
are shown her hands touching the leaves
as she walks. This is another example of
how these directors have used nature as
part of their mis en scene as a reference to
peace.
Mis En scene
5. The camera uses soft focus on the protagonist in the
first few shots as she is describing a dream , therefore
the soft effect makes it seem unreal and calm. Further
into the film there is a birds eye shot looking down
over the girl as she lay in bed , at a standstill unlike
the previous shots that were constantly moving this
would signify her lack of freedom and thus implying
along with other signs that she is suffering an illness.
Another significant camera movement is the way it
turns in a 360 degree angle around the girl when she
speaks about her past but also about her known
future, it gives the connotation that the illness has
taken over every aspect of her life and how this comes
to make her isolated by the amount of pain it causes
others besides herself. The film uses a lot of medium
to long shots , showing the girl walking through her
everyday life. This helps the audience engage with the
fact this film is based on the girls journey from the start
to finish with cancer and how certain parts of it have
been affected.
