product represent particular
social groups?

2. Traditional ideas
 In our film we attempted to subvert the traditional idea that “criminals tend to be
big, scary men”. By using two female characters we were able to imply that women
are as capable as men. The two male characters also subvert the traditional ideas
of male criminals being “big and scary”. By using two slim, “normal” looking male
characters, his meant that we could subvert the typical ideas and make people
think about the fact these four people planning a bank robbery are exactly like the
people you walk past every day.
 By not using the mask element most movies use we are able to change the
dynamic of the film, if the criminals have masks then its just another typical bank
robbery film.

3. Camera angles
 The close ups on my character (Brittony) showed that she was in charge, because
you can see her face as she talks the other three, and the use of orders in her
dialogue means that the audience can see that the person in charge is female. This
subverts the idea that we live in a patriarchy, the fact she is talking them through
what they will do, means that the audience can easily tell she is the person in
charge
 The shot of the legs walking next to the duffle bag, the close up, moving shot,
leaves the audience wondering if this is a male or female character. The intention
is to make it unclear who is actually the person carrying out the crime. (who is the
strongest character?)

4. Mise-en-scene
 The clothing each character wears in very casual, this highlights that they are just
normal people and they don’t appear like the criminals you would see in a regular
criminal film:
E.G:
 Legend, the Cray Twins dress in suit and look like the stereotypical gangsters
 Any James Bond film has the antagonist as a foreign, insane criminal. Who often
look slightly creepy.
