2. Poster 1 Both colours take up half of the picture you can understand there’s some sort of division during the film… A fire which ends and the aftermath (ending in smoke). The picture shows a relationship between the two characters, it symbolises the role of protection he has over her and in some ways can suggest the comfortabilty she has around him by the teddy bear being present in frame. If we look at two screen shots from the film we can see the kind of relationship they have.
3. Continued However we know that Washington can still be ready to pull the trigger when it comes down to business. I think the intended audience for this film is for the age of 18+, having watched the film there are many violent scenes which could be classed as explicit and not suitable for a younger age group. I feel the poster was really effective in what it set out to do, we have a star in Denzel as a USP, a great background to symbolise the story which is trying to be told complemented by the typography “Man on fire” which adds to the effect of the background which allows connotations of a thrilling story with lots of destruction-al twists with a hint of innocence to give the film a high level of logical causality. With this poster you see what you’re going to get, it is not offensive in anyway.
4. Poster 2 This second poster goes for the solo character I feel this shows the significance of him in the film – showing him as the main character. He takes up most of the frame with hints of flames in the background, maybe suggesting to us that the man in frame has come through the fire, maybe about to go through more fire or turn back into the fire of his old life, which happens in the film he goes back to his old life and enters into new flames where he comes out with smoke behind him.
5. Poster 3 The main colours in this poser are red and black which have connotations of destruction, death, intensity etc. The main image is a flame of fire - which can suggest so many things in a film...I don’t feel this was very significant.
