SITE LOCATION: 1710 Gilmore Ave, Burnaby, BC V5C
EXSISTING CONDITION: Sunny
SITE REPORTER: Antonella Gennusa
EQUIPMENT ON SITE: Gravel, structural steel, excavators, concrete, chute from truck,
lumber, garbage, signs, fence, pump, bobcats.
DIVISION 1: GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
As shown in the photo 1.1 the main entrance area is also parking for all vehicles, while
the secondary entrance area (on Gilmore avenue) is used for material deposit such as:
wood, steel and generators.
Offices and other deposits are located outside the site construction.
DIVISION 2_EXISTING CONDITION:
Since the first visit it can be observed that the excavation work is about to be completed
(photo 1.2) and that the excavation walls have been reinforced with soil nails similar to
soil anchors (photo 1.4) and a layer of shootcrete and mesh. The climate of these days
allows workers to work quietly.
At this stage of the work is not yet installed any cranes.
DIVISION 3_CONCRETE:
At this preliminary stage has not been set yet any formwork or reinforcing steel, workers
are still preparing and leveling the surface.
The holes of the construction site are filled with sands or concrete (photo 1.3).
DIVISION 31_EARTHWORK:
The site has been prepared for the next step.
Within the area ESC tanks have been installed. Protecting the site perimeter the area is
surrounded by a high wood and metal hoarding, all the signs around the site are properly
installed. The site has a large parking for vehicles and a long ramp to reach the hearts of
the excavation.
Protecting excavation walls soil nails have been installed and capped and after a layer of
shootcrete has been spryed.
SITE ISSUE:
The work is delyead because a small design error fortunately recovered in time.

SITE REPORTER: Antonella Gennusa
EQUIPMENT ON SITE: Gravel, structural steel, excavators, concrete, lumber, garbage, signs,
fence, pump, cement.
SUMMARY OF WORK SINCE PREVIOUS VISIT:
DIVISION 2/31_SITE WORK:
As shown in photo 2.3, since the first visit, the same areas are still in the excavation
process. Unlike the first visit it rained a lot that week, so the process is slowed.
SUMMARY OF WORK IN PROGRESS:
DIVISION 2/31_SITE WORK:
As shown in photo 2.1 and 2.3 after the rain of these days the water is pumped out
excavation, to provide a dry working area. A pumps system is installed all around.
Photo 2.4 shows the new bituminous paving long the vehicle parking and main entrance.
Most of the piles are covered with plastic sheet, to protect them from rotting.
DIVISION 3_CONCRETE:
At this stage has not been set yet any formwork or reinforcing steel, workers are still
preparing and leveling the surface.
SITE ISSUE:
The work is still delayed, the site is messier compared with the last visit. Some materials
are spread around.
Another serious problem is the massive presence of water on site caused by the heavy
rains in recent days, pumps are operating all day to keep the water out from the
excavation to provide a dry working area (panoramic view 2.1).

SITE REPORTER: Antonella Gennusa
EQUIPMENT ON SITE: Gravel, structural steel, excavators, concrete, lumber, garbage, signs,

SUMMARY OF WORK SINCE PREVIOUS VISIT:
DIVISION 2/31_SITE WORK:
As shown in photo 3.1, since the first visit, the same areas are still in the excavation
process. Few of rocks have been removed from the site. But there are still some smaller
rocks left at the site.
SUMMARY OF WORK IN PROGRESS:
DIVISION 2/31_SITE WORK:
As shown in picture 3.1, crew were excavating one specified area to install the crane. They
excavated the site, add the plastic white material. The next step would be to add the
grade on top of the plastic material,( reinforcing steel).
DIVISION 3_CONCRETE:
The process of the concrete is still on going. But due to the heavy rain, there was delay in
schedule for shotcrete the walls.
SITE ISSUE:
The day I went to report on the site, I talked to contractor. Due to the heavy rain fall
during October, the dewatering process is not going very well. The crew had to repeat the
process multiple times in order to have a dry site to work on. The rain had great effect on
the schedule and it causes delay.

EQUIPMENT ON SITE: Gravel, structural steel, excavators, concrete, lumber, garbage, signs,
fence, pump, cement, concrete bucket, tower crane.
SUMMARY OF WORK SINCE PREVIOUS VISIT:
Past few weeks, the crew were excavating the specified area to install the crane. Now the
crane has been fully installed and it’s been using to lift heavy materials, such as concrete
bucket. (photo 4.1)
SUMMARY OF WORK IN PROGRESS:
DIVISION 2/31_SITE WORK:
The excavation process is going on. A ramp has been made for the crew to have easy
access to the site. As well as temporary stairs have been installed on the site. After the
ramp is moved, the heavy equipment will be lifted from the site. (photo 4.3)
DIVISION 3_CONCRETE:
Crew were building the part of foundation. Required excavation has been done. And they
were in middle of installing reinforcements to the concrete. The reinforcement concrete
provide the required strength for foundation. As shown in the picture, the dwell has been
installed on the site. The concrete has been poured on the walls. (photo 4.2)
SITE ISSUE:
One safety issues that I had noticed, was that one of the crew on the site was not wearing
protection, such as his helmet.
