INTRODUCTION
This project requires the student to construct a mini project that
serves a specific purpose. Each group consist of 2 members which
they need to choose a specific purpose for their site from recreation
area, they enhancement area, rest area, food and beverage (dining
area) or commercial area (exclude food and beverage). After choosing
a topic, students is require to choose a site within the campus and the
site is limited to a size of 30m x 30m. Student needs to do research
and analysis before doing the report.
In this assignment, we will learn the understanding of coherent
working relations among various industry players and to improve the
communication channels. Besides, we also create and awareness of
our profession responsibilities and to appreciate their profession in the
construction industry.
4
Introduction to the Site
In this assignment, our site will be located within the Taylor’s
University Lakeside Campus. Me and my group has discussed about it
and came out with a plan to recreate the area, which is the balcony
that located at Block E, level 2. It is a very suitable place for
recreation since it is a wide opening area and it is not used currently,
we found that it is a waste, so we choose that place.

Site Analysis and Observation
The site we had chosen is place at Block E, level 2, the Balcony.
The size of the site is approximately 27m x 15m. It has a railing of 1.2
metres high along the side of the site. There is also a roof which have
3 metres extending out from the right railing of the site. Facing out at
the south will be the car park and the sport area. Towards the west
will be the view of the opposite off balcony the same level. Looking
towards the east, there will be a view of large trees and residential
area. Finally, looking towards the south-west, there we can see
Taylor’s lake.

Suggestion and Proposal
There are few important thing we need to take note when
recreate or design a food and beverage area. The most important thing
is guest comfort. Next is building automation, and followed by green
perspective.
To create a harmony feeling, we need to combine the design of
elements, lightning, and other components such as odor and
temperature significantly influence the well-being of your guests.
Building automation, a preprogrammed parameter in the
building automation and control system allow us to adapt the
environment to fit guest comfort. Since this is an outdoor restaurant,
the only thing is adjusting the light.
12
Suggestion & Proposal
- We decided to create an outdoor restaurant. It’s a totally open
area with no wall or roof.
- We decided to run a buffet restaurant.
- We will build the kitchen at the corner, which located at the left
side of the site, to separate it from customer.
- There will be a bar in the middle, to server drinks or snacks.
- As we are running a buffet restaurant, there will be a table with
10m long in the middle to server all the foods.
- Use energy saving concept, light or air conditional, together
with automation control system as mention in above.
- Create a waiting area, for customer to wait for their table or
turns, also can use as a rest and chill section.
- Do not arrange the tables to be too close to each other, create
more space for walking and more comfort.

Sketch of Concept & Idea
The concept of our idea is about recreation a site into a food and
beverage (dining area). The idea is about create a restaurant with a
sky bar. The restaurant will server buffet and the bar will server
drinks. The example we found is the Sirocco Sky Bar, Bangkok.
The kitchen will be at the left side of the site. It is a U shape
kitchen. There will be a bar in the middle. The purpose of putting a
bar is to server drinks and snacks.
Example of the bar.
15
There will be a table with length 10m be placed in the middle to
server all the food.
There will be only 18 table are available in this restaurant. We doesn’t
want to add more because it will makes the place smaller and feel
uncomfortable.
There will be a rest and chill section for customer to wait for their
turns or tables. It’s open for everyone whoever want to come here and
enjoy, it doesn’t has to be our customer. The size of this area is 5m x
15m.

Materials
Chairs & tables:
We are using some high quality chairs and table, to bring comfort to
customers. The chairs will be in white colour and the table will be
made out of glass.
Lightning:
There are two type of lamp we will add into our site, one is like
garden lamp, another is wall lamp, with create a comfortable feeling.
Reason we choose this two type of lamp is because they won’t release
a huge amount of light with hurt people eyes, especially when night
time.
18
Waiting and Chill Area:
In this area, we will add some bean bag chair and tables for people to
relax. The railing that around this waiting area, we will be using
Radiance Railing, it is one kind of wooden railing.
Plants:
We will implant this “Ixora cocinea” plants along the railing, here is
some information about this plants.
Ixora coccinea
Ixora coccinea - Ixora is a genus of flowering plants in the Rubiaceae family. It
consists of tropical evergreen trees and shrubs and holds around 500 species.
Though native to the tropical and subtropical areas throughout the world, its
centre of diversity is in Tropical Asia.
19
Rationale and Benefits of your project in to the
client and the surrounding community / end user.
Our chosen site is located at Taylor’s Lakeside Campus, Block
E, Level 23, the balcony. The topic we choose to recreate our site is
food and beverage.
Rationale:
 To bring that place to life.
 This site is originally an open space with rarely any people uses
it and there is no other purpose other than viewing the school
outdoor.
 It would look nicer, implanting green pocket to the site.
 Enhance scenery of the site because it look empty with no
purpose using it.
Benefits:
 It would be more convenient for students or stuff to have their
food and beverage.
 Creating more business opportunity.
 Creating more jobs.
 Helps client to bring money to the community.

  • 3. 3 INTRODUCTION This project requires the student to construct a mini project that serves a specific purpose. Each group consist of 2 members which they need to choose a specific purpose for their site from recreation area, they enhancement area, rest area, food and beverage (dining area) or commercial area (exclude food and beverage). After choosing a topic, students is require to choose a site within the campus and the site is limited to a size of 30m x 30m. Student needs to do research and analysis before doing the report. In this assignment, we will learn the understanding of coherent working relations among various industry players and to improve the communication channels. Besides, we also create and awareness of our profession responsibilities and to appreciate their profession in the construction industry.
  • 4. 4 Introduction to the Site In this assignment, our site will be located within the Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus. Me and my group has discussed about it and came out with a plan to recreate the area, which is the balcony that located at Block E, level 2. It is a very suitable place for recreation since it is a wide opening area and it is not used currently, we found that it is a waste, so we choose that place. View of the balcony. View of the Block E and balcony from car park.
  • 5. 5 Site Plan Measurement and Elements 10m 3m 15m 27m Block E Roof Railing Short column (Separate Railings)
  • 6. 6 Site Analysis and Observation The site we had chosen is place at Block E, level 2, the Balcony. The size of the site is approximately 27m x 15m. It has a railing of 1.2 metres high along the side of the site. There is also a roof which have 3 metres extending out from the right railing of the site. Facing out at the south will be the car park and the sport area. Towards the west will be the view of the opposite off balcony the same level. Looking towards the east, there will be a view of large trees and residential area. Finally, looking towards the south-west, there we can see Taylor’s lake. Our Site, Block E, Level 2, The Balcony. View of Taylor’s Study Block (Block C, Block D, Block E) View from commercial block. Our Site
  • 7. 7 Observation Entrance to balcony.  Wide entrance, no congestion.  Out site is one step lower after the entrance.  It’s an opening area.  Got a wild view, residential area, car park, sport area, forest beside the campus, commercial block and even the lake.  There is a roof with 3 metres extending out from the railing on the right side of the site.
  • 8. 8 View on the right side of our site. - Very wild opening space, a very good place for recreation. - View more trees than building. - Has a railing around the site. View to the south of our site. - Car parks and sport area.
  • 9. 9 View of Block E from our site. At noon 12pm – 2pm, the sun light will reach half of the site as shown in the picture.

  • 11. 11 Suggestion and Proposal There are few important thing we need to take note when recreate or design a food and beverage area. The most important thing is guest comfort. Next is building automation, and followed by green perspective. To create a harmony feeling, we need to combine the design of elements, lightning, and other components such as odor and temperature significantly influence the well-being of your guests. Building automation, a preprogrammed parameter in the building automation and control system allow us to adapt the environment to fit guest comfort. Since this is an outdoor restaurant, the only thing is adjusting the light.
  • 12. 12 Suggestion & Proposal - We decided to create an outdoor restaurant. It’s a totally open area with no wall or roof. - We decided to run a buffet restaurant. - We will build the kitchen at the corner, which located at the left side of the site, to separate it from customer. - There will be a bar in the middle, to server drinks or snacks. - As we are running a buffet restaurant, there will be a table with 10m long in the middle to server all the foods. - Use energy saving concept, light or air conditional, together with automation control system as mention in above. - Create a waiting area, for customer to wait for their table or turns, also can use as a rest and chill section. - Do not arrange the tables to be too close to each other, create more space for walking and more comfort.
  • 13. 13 Sketch Plan of Our Proposal Bean Bag Chair Bush Table Bar Kitchen Scale 1:125 Our Proposal Site Plan 15 27 Block E Fake Grass as Floor
  • 14. 14 Sketch of Concept & Idea The concept of our idea is about recreation a site into a food and beverage (dining area). The idea is about create a restaurant with a sky bar. The restaurant will server buffet and the bar will server drinks. The example we found is the Sirocco Sky Bar, Bangkok. The kitchen will be at the left side of the site. It is a U shape kitchen. There will be a bar in the middle. The purpose of putting a bar is to server drinks and snacks. Example of the bar.
  • 15. 15 There will be a table with length 10m be placed in the middle to server all the food. There will be only 18 table are available in this restaurant. We doesn’t want to add more because it will makes the place smaller and feel uncomfortable. There will be a rest and chill section for customer to wait for their turns or tables. It’s open for everyone whoever want to come here and enjoy, it doesn’t has to be our customer. The size of this area is 5m x 15m.
  • 16. 16 Zoning Waiting Area Dining Area Kitchen Bar (Serving Drinks) Block E Entrance
  • 17. 17 Materials Chairs & tables: We are using some high quality chairs and table, to bring comfort to customers. The chairs will be in white colour and the table will be made out of glass. Lightning: There are two type of lamp we will add into our site, one is like garden lamp, another is wall lamp, with create a comfortable feeling. Reason we choose this two type of lamp is because they won’t release a huge amount of light with hurt people eyes, especially when night time.
  • 18. 18 Waiting and Chill Area: In this area, we will add some bean bag chair and tables for people to relax. The railing that around this waiting area, we will be using Radiance Railing, it is one kind of wooden railing. Plants: We will implant this “Ixora cocinea” plants along the railing, here is some information about this plants. Ixora coccinea Ixora coccinea - Ixora is a genus of flowering plants in the Rubiaceae family. It consists of tropical evergreen trees and shrubs and holds around 500 species. Though native to the tropical and subtropical areas throughout the world, its centre of diversity is in Tropical Asia.
  • 19. 19 Rationale and Benefits of your project in to the client and the surrounding community / end user. Our chosen site is located at Taylor’s Lakeside Campus, Block E, Level 23, the balcony. The topic we choose to recreate our site is food and beverage. Rationale:  To bring that place to life.  This site is originally an open space with rarely any people uses it and there is no other purpose other than viewing the school outdoor.  It would look nicer, implanting green pocket to the site.  Enhance scenery of the site because it look empty with no purpose using it. Benefits:  It would be more convenient for students or stuff to have their food and beverage.  Creating more business opportunity.  Creating more jobs.  Helps client to bring money to the community.
