Compare and Contrast Dna and Rna
Compare and contrast DNA and RNA. Discuss why humans did not evolve with one central
repository of DNA, but rather it is replicated throughout the body?
Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA): It is helical double stranded nucleic acid made of complementary
purine and pyramidines supported by deoxy ribose sugars and phospodiester structures. (5 Prime to
3 prime). Eukaryotic DNA material.
Ribonucleic acid (RNA): It is a single nucleic acid supported by adenine, guanine, cytosine and
uracil supported by ribose sugars. mRNA, rRNA and tRNA.
Double standed RNA Viruses are also with RNA as genetic material

The four bases found in DNA are adenine (abbreviated A), cytosine (C), guanine (G) and thymine
(T). A fifth pyrimidine base, called uracil (U), usually takes the place of thymine in RNA and
differs from thymine by lacking a methyl group on its ring.
If we only had one central repository of DNA, it would take a long time for a protein to be made.
We d have to make it far in advance of needing it, so we wouldn t be able to quickly respond to new
situations. Imagine if you were out hunting, and suddenly, a wolf appeared at your side. If you
were slow at making proteins because you had one central repository of DNA, the wolf would
probably get to you before you could respond safely.
Also, regulation of proteins occurs at the level of DNA as well as on other levels. In some cells,
certain sections of DNA are bundled tight in a mass of proteins, in such a way that no RNA (and
thus no protein) can be made from them. This turns off those genes. In other sections, only a few
proteins might be keeping the DNA turned off, so that it could quickly be unravelled and used to
make proteins.
This decreases the chance of harmful mutations killing the entire body, as well. Right now, you
have redundancy many copies of heart cells, each with a full set of DNA. Now imagine that
something goes wrong with one of those cells. It can safely suicide , and the other cells will
replace it.
If we had one central set of DNA, if anything ever went wrong

Contribution Of The Life Of Helen Keller
Balyan 01
Introduction
Helen Adams Keller was an American author, political activist and a lecturer. She was the first
deaf blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. The story of how Keller s teacher, Anne
Sullivan, broke through the isolation imposed by a near complete lack of language, allowing to
blossom into the exemplary system of bravery, has been widely shown and known through the
dramatizations of the play and film, The miracle worker. She was born in west Tuscumbia, Alabama
on June 27, 1880 which is now commemorated as Helen Keller day in the state of Pennsylvania.
Apart from being a very prolific writer, Keller was also a person a strong sense of conviction. A
member of the socialist party of America and the industrial workers if the world, she rallied and
campaigned for causes such as women s suffrage, labor right, socialism, anti militarism, and other
similar causes. She was inducted into the Alabama women s hall of fame in 1971 and was one of

It is a tremendous achievement. It is destined to be imprisoned in darkness and isolation for the
rest of her life, Helen built upon the brilliant work of her teacher, Anne Sullivan, to become an
inter nationally recognized and respected figure. In 1908 Helen published The World I Live In , an
account of how she experienced the world through touch, taste and scent. In magazine articles she
advocated for increased opportunities for the blind and for improving methods of reducing
childhood blindness. In 1909, Helen joined the Socialist Party of Massachusetts and supported
many progressive era causes, including birth control, labour unions and the right of women to vote.
In 1924, her popularity somewhat recovered, Helen began working as a lecturer fund raiser for the

Soccer As A Form Of Popular Culture
Soccer or football has become one of the most beloved past times of many countries in the world.
There are very few sports that are as ubiquitous as football. Revered by many as the ultimate
sport, football has evolved in a world of its own with its own set of rituals and spatial and temporal
associations. Religiontoo has its own set of rituals and its own spatial and temporal associations. It
is something used by the masses to form a collective bond with their fellow peers in a way that
transcends the bounds of normal relationships. It bonds people with emotion and a common way of
thinking. This paper argues that soccer can be defined within the context of religion. More
specifically, footballcan be defined as a form of religion. With its... Show more content on

It is necessary to clarify at this point that from the first third of the 20th century, they became an
embodiment of the cities or regions where they arose, establishing an intense emotional symbiosis
that has been maintained over time. In other words, Spanish football clubs are prolongations of
their local and regional cultures. Therefore, anyone can identify with them without even being
interested in football. However, solely commitment to the sport does not necessarily mean that we
can define the sport as a religion. Rather we must consider the different aspects of the proposed
construct in relation to the aspects that define religion. Albanese states that like traditional religious
rituals, sports too divide the time of their performance from the ordinary and that in both people

Being Greeted with Death s Sting
Everyday someone is greeted with the sting of death. Sometimes it occurs with or without
warning. Either way, the hearts of the loved ones left behind are broken with despair. I have sent
flowers and consoled love ones. But, I didn t fully understand death s sting until took my
beloved Mother and Friend from my family. She was the glue that held me and my siblings
together throughout our adult years. It was our ritual to speak before I started and ended my
day. My Mother encouraged me to continue on through my storms. During my deployments, I
could count on her prayers. My Mother knew what words to speak to soothe me and she could
build me up with her understanding. I loved that she never took sides when my siblings and I
would have disagreements. She would remind us the importance of family ties. As a child, I
could remember coming home broken because I felt like an outcast. The children were cruel to
me. I was the kid in the home made dress or the plaid pants with the penny loafers. You see, my
Mother was a single parent raising five children. We lived in low income housing and she
worked several jobs to provide the essentials. In our home there were no name brand clothing
and hand me downs were the normality. She kept us feed, clean and a roof over our heads. My
Mother loved us all equally and made us feel as if we lived above poverty. We would always have
family night on Saturday. We would dance, laugh and watch movies. It was a treat to get the home

Deep Down Dark
Deep Down Dark
1.What new information did you gain about those sixty nine days of survival? What details did
Deep Down Dark provide that were absent from the 2010 media blitz? Deep Down Dark seems to
be a valuable work, as it provides a deep scrutiny towards some very important questions concerning
human life, survival, individual psychology, and even the effective managing provision. As for me,
most of the thirty three had a deeper understanding of what exactly, was going on, and this was like
a new information to me. Furthermore, they could get to know what precisely, were the probable
consequences of the trap; thus, providing them with an opportunity to manage their underground

In fact, even those people, who were sure that they were total atheists started to ask for mercy
(Tobar 44). They did not imagine of something material, but instead, they were thinking of
something or someone important in their lives. Some of the miners thought of their wives, children,
and sins, while someone had a recollection of his ex wives, forgetting about the current ones.
Despite this, that is, total isolation, that particular moment they showed their true feelings, as well
as their real values, gave them hope and the strength to survive. Speaking of my own perception, I
am sure that all of those stories are highly valuable because they reflect the better sides of any
human being.

more firms exhibit characteristics similar to those of non dividend paying firms), Fama and French
nonetheless report that once they control for these characteristics, they still find a significant
decline in the residual propensity to pay dividends. This evidence poses a further challenge to
dividend theories in so far as candidate theories should be able to explain time series changes in
the propensity to pay dividends. We extend this literature by examining cross sectional and time
series evidence on the propensity to pay dividends in several developed financial markets the
United States (U.S.), Canada, the United Kingdom (U.K.), Germany, France, and Japan over the
period 1989 to 2002. Specifically, we examine (i) whether the characteristics of dividend payers
and nonpayers are common across countries; (ii) whether these characteristics have changed over
time; and (iii) whether firms in other countries exhibit a declining propensity to pay dividends in
recent years. In addition, the use of international data allows us to provide further tests of the life
cycle, signaling, clientele, and catering explanations by analyzing the concentration of dividend
payments as well as the association between Baker and Wurgler s (2004a,b) dividend premium and
the propensity to pay dividends in other countries. Our evidence reveals common determinants of
dividends across countries. Like Fama and French (2001), we find

Polonius Father
Fathers in plays, books, movies, etc., are portrayed in many different ways. Authors never make it
obvious as to the motivation behind the actions of the dads. Do they do it to protect their children,
or do they do it to make themselves look better? Shakespeare s Hamlet exemplifies this confusion
through Polonius. Right hand man to the king, and father to Laertes and Ophelia, many of
Polonius actions raise this question, but only one side can be true. Throughout the play, Polonius
uses his charm and wit to control Laertes, Ophelia, and Claudius, in order to preserve his position
in court. To start, Laertes, Polonius son, does not have much control over his own life. However,
he gets a chance at freedom when he proposes to his father and the king that... Show more content

In Act I Scene III, after Laertes leaves on his trip to France, Polonius enquires about the rumors
about her and Young Hamlet. Of course these rumors WERE found out from Polonius spies: spies
that follow Ophelia. Ophelia, in all her innocence, tries to convince her father that Hamlet s
actions resemble the purest intentions of wooing her. Polonius advice says, Do not believe his
vows; for they are brokers, / Not of that dye which their investments show, / ... I would not, in
plain terms, from this time forth, / Have you so slander any moment leisure, / As to give words
or talk with Lord Hamlet (1.3.128 135). Polonius believes that Hamlet s only intentions of
getting Ophelia in bed will ruin her. In the 13th and 14th centuries, a women s chastity WAS a
women s all that gave women hope. Without her virginity, she could not be married to anyone
but he who took it. How would that look on Polonius? Having a daughter that lost her only virtue
is sinful, so Polonius does all he can, especially spying on her, to make sure she does not make a
fool out of herself and himself. Polonius control does not stop at his children, for he holds some
power over Claudius as

A Study Of The Nuer Of Southern Sudan And The American...
What is order? What does it mean to have power? Stateless societies have long fascinated western
anthropologists because of how different their political system is. Understanding different forms of
power other than the western coercive power helps anthropologists to understand how power
creates social order. Through a study of the Nuer of Southern Sudan and the American tribes of
South America political power how order is created within stateless societies can be understood.
Although these two communities are highly dissimilar they provide contrasting examples of how
stateless societies are ordered. By limiting the discussion to these two examples it is hoped that the

In Nuerland the tribe is divided into three separate groups. These will be referred to as primary,
secondary and tertiary sections. They are all segments of each other as the primary is a segment
of a tribe, secondary segment of the primary, and tertiary segment of the secondary (Evens
Prichard, 1940). Members of these segments only regard themselves as a member of that segment
in relation to segments of the same kind (Evens Prichard, 1940). For the Nuer there is always an
inconsistency between definitions of your political group as your membership is only determined
by your non membership of other groups (Evens Prichard, 1940, p. 282). Specifically, in Nuerland,
the tribal system is relative. It cannot be described in the terms of a political morphology as their
relations are so dynamic.
Similarly, the Nuer segment themselves through a lineage systems. The Nuer clan is a highly
segmented system in the same way as the tribal system. The clan is segmented into the maximal
lineages which separate in major lineages which go into minimal which turn into minor lineages
(Evens Prichard, 1940, pp. 286 287). Similarly to the tribal system lineages are only distinct groups
in relation to each other. Although every Nuer village is related to a lineage this does not mean that
members of the lineage are only found within a single localised community. Rather Nuer clans are
dispersed throughout many villages and one may find representatives of many clans within a

The first one that jumps out to me is the Appointments that were discussed. During this time,

interest in. Another topic that was discussed that will impact feature students was budget cuts.

The Great Presidents By Woodrow Wilson Essay
Presidential greatness isn t necessarily determined just by success or remembrance, but is
determined by the ideas that a president has and how it impacts the people. Each president sets
out with an agenda to accomplish and to leave a legacy behind, however, only few presidents are
remembered, celebrated, and taught about. The history of great presidents often correlates to time
of war for America. This is because great presidents often emerge to the people in times of crisis,
such as wars. Of the many great presidents, Woodrow Wilson, offers unique qualities such as
energy, intelligence, and leadership that make him a great president. The traits of a great president
are beginning to be defined first in Federalist 70 by Alexander Hamilton. In this document,
Hamilton outlines the need for a strong executive branch and the need for a strong president. A trait
that Hamilton believes defines a good president is a trait of strong energy; energy to protect the
nation, secure the liberties, and help administer laws to help promote the stability of the nation.
Hamilton argues that a feeble executive implies a feeble execution of the government. (Lawler).
Without a strong, energetic president as the backbone to provide leadership, the country can fall
into the traps of factions or anarchy, ultimately destroying the government. In addition to strength
and energy, intelligence and leadership is crucial for a president to be effective and great.
Leadership is a necessary quality to

While other units have upgraded, Whiteman has taken measures to extend the T 38A service
life, but continuously been faced with maintenance issues and part availability for an aging
aircraft. The studies that have been accomplished have validated the overall need for companion
trainers, however, there has been limited studies conducted that focused on the tactical relevance
of a companion trainer. This study builds on the previous requirements defined for a B 2
companion trainer, and adds tactical requirements in order to recommend a solution that
achieves both objectives. The Nature of the Problem This research is necessary because T 38s
are aging out at all units. The T 38A at Whiteman AFB, MO, currently reaches its end of service
life in 2028. Currently, the B 2s end of service is 2058, which highlights the urgent requirement
for a replacement trainer. B 2 pilots fly limited sorties due to the size of the B 2 fleet and the
nature of stealth aircraft. Stealth aircraft require specific Low Observable (LO) maintenance
which is both time consuming and costly. Due to the limited sorties, B 2 pilots have utilized a

continue to develop airmanship skills . In 2011, an independent study was performed by Michal

of 1929, Universal Studios premiered a silent, black and white film based on the book (The

like that the majority of the show is kind of a flashback and it s not really taking place in real

Essay on Why Britain Won the Battle of Britain
Why Britain Won the Battle of Britain
After taking France in addition to his list of captured countries on mainland Europe, Adolf Hitler
set his sights on Britain. After the success of Blitzkrieg, the evacuation of Dunkirk and the
surrender of France, Britain was by herself. However, before Hitler could contemplate undertaking
an invasion he was advised by his generals that Germany had to destroy the Fighter Command of
the Royal Air Force in order to gain superiority in the air. This would in turn enable him to gain
control of the English Channel in order to transfer the 160,000 German troops on the 2000 invasion

For example, under the category of technology I could say that one reason why Britain won the
battle of Britain was because they had the services of the radar system.
Firstly, the tactics employed by both sides would play a key role in itself to deciding the outcome
of the Battle of Britain. The battle started on July 10th 1940 when the Luftwaffe attempted to gain
control of the Straits of Dover. The tactics employed by the Luftwaffe was to tempt the RAF out
for a full scale battle. However, by the end of July, the RAF had lost 150 aircraft while the
Luftwaffe had lost 268. These figures illustrate that there was a much greater loss of aircraft
experienced by Germany than the British. These large losses of planes from the outset of a battle
would have been a significant blow to any army however, this would have damaged German
morale as a greater loss of planes was not something they would have contemplated and as they
were coming into this battle with such high expectations, this would have been a significant blow
to the Luftwaffe and a stern wake up call to their commanders. However, Britain too was suffering,
it was the loss of trained pilots that was crippling the RAF, and the real battle had yet to begin. In
August, the Luftwaffe changed their tactics and started to attack Fighter Command s airfields,
operation rooms and radar stations the idea being that the RAF

Renaissance had in mind: what all people of the Renaissance had in mind. The Renaissance
happened during the 15th and 16th centuries. The Renaissancegets its name from the French word
rebirth , which is what the Renaissance is seen as by bringing back the great ancient Greek and
Roman works. From the lesser known writers such as Thomas Decker and Samuel Daniel to the
more famous such as Sir Thomas Wyatt and William Shakespeare, all the writers contributed greatly
to the literary achievements of the Renaissance.
It is important to understand what the Renaissance was. After the fall of the Roman Empire in 476
A.D., the Dark Ages descended on Europe. The Dark Ages lasted until the beginning of the 15th
century, when the Renaissance began. The thinkers of the Renaissance are associated with
antiquity, the classics, history, and moral philosophy. With the bringing back of the classics, some
writing contained an English Latin mixture. The main idea associated with the Renaissance is
humanism, which brought to view the importance of human value. The influences on work
included Christianity, classical antiquity, scholarship, and politics. Most thinkers and inventors
earned a living of their craft. The Renaissance brought an optimistic promise of moving away from
the Dark Ages and

Do you think that doublespeak is dangerous? Explain your opinion in a personal journal
Response engaging with the text, as well as using reasons and examples from your own life
experiences. Nowadays, the ability to think independently becomes an important skill. Not only
can it help us approach the problems clearly and rationally by understanding the topic, but it also
helps deliver convincing thoughts. In the book 1984 by George Orwell, civilians are forced to
accept two ideas or facts at the same time which is called Doublethink in 1984. The concept of
doublethink and doublespeak are similar; both are used commonly by politicians to take control of

The Renaissance In Europe And Its Change During The...
During the Middle Ages, Europe was going through a tough time it was characterized by a breakup
of the unified empire, breakdown of trade, abandoned cities, and end of all governments, this led
Europe to be economically weak and not the center of literacy anymore; following it even changing
the dominant language to another. The period that Europewas going through was hectic causing the
breakdown of trade and the population becoming rural, but after every beginning, there s an end
and this started between the 1400 s and the 1500 s. After the Middle Ages, a broad change occurred
which happened to be the renaissancemeaning (rebirth). During this age changes occurred such as
the development of nation states, the emergence of the middle class, the advent of commercial
capitalism and the rise of rationalist thoughts. With the developments of scientific and technological

Essay On Curb Appeal
If you re trying to sell your home, you know the importance of curb appeal. But, did you know
that you can improve your curb appeal without spending a lot of money? Here are six tips to help
you add pizzazz to your home without putting a strain on your budget:
Paint your front door. What does your front door look like right now? Does it look tired? Are
there markings on it? One of the easiest ways to add a little pop to your front entrance is to
repaint your front door. Maybe add a little burst of color while you re at it something like red,
turquoise, or blue.
Update your lights. If you ve lived in your home for a while, you might not even realize how
outdated your exterior lighting may be. By upgrading your light fixtures, you ll immediately

One of the most important things you can do to improve the curb appeal of your home is to
clean up your yard. Take the time to manicure your lawn and make it as green as possible (even if
you have to spray it green!). Trim the trees and bushes. Plant new flowers in your yard or even a
tree (if feasible). You may even consider installing flower boxes by your windows or in your front
porch area.
Power wash your house. We don t realize how dirty our homes get over time. A good power
wash will take away the grime and allow your home s true color to shine through again. You can
either rent a power washer or hire someone to help you. Additionally, you should power wash your
windows and screens to make sure they are bright and clean as well.
Fix your driveway. When driving up to your home, one of the first things a buyer may see is
your driveway. What does it look like? Are there cracks in the concrete? Do you have trash cans
in the front? If so, do what you can to repair the cracks on your own, and simply move your trash
cans to a different location. You may even consider staining your driveway to give it a little extra

A Personal Legend In Paulo Coelho s The Alchemist
What is a personal legend? In The Alchemist the king of Salem says that one s personal legend is
...what you have always wanted to accomplish (21). This novel is about a young boy who travels

connect with the world and many other valuable lessons, including his own personal legend. Paulo
Coelhowrites about person legends all throughout the book. He doesn t just talk about Santiago s
personal legend, he talks about many other other too. He starts out by writing about other s
personal legends and how they never followed their dreams or tries to achieve it. He uses the
baker in the plaza as an example. He tells the reader about the baker when the old man points at
him and tells Santiago: When he was a child, that man wanted to travel, too. But he decided first
to buy his bakery and put some money aside. When he s an old man, he s going to spend a month
in Africa. He never realized that people are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they

This is the first example of personal legend that Coelho uses. The baker never followed his
personal legend because he opened a bakery. This is not the only time Coelho showed someone
failing or not going after his or her dream. He also talks about a crystal merchant who didn t
achieve his dream either. As Santiago travels through the desert trying to achieve his personal

The Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci Analysis
FORMAL ANALISYS: THE LAST SUPPER BY LEONARDO DA VINCI
As we all know the Last Supper is the last dinner that Jesus shared with his Apostles before he was
betrayed and crucified. Although this theme occurs in many works, The Last Supper by Leonardo
da Vinci is the most famous and has been a subject of many discussions.
Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most remarkable painters, sculptors, architects and brilliant
philosophers of all time. He was born on April 15, 1452 near Vinci but the biggest part of his life
he spent in Florence where he began drawing and after a certain period painting. When Leonardo
was fourteen he began working with Andrea del Verrocchio, who was one of the most recognized
painters of his day. Da Vinci s work soon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leonardo s painting actually represents the different reactions of the Apostles when Jesustold them
that they would be the reason for his death and that someone among them is a betrayer. We can
see from the expressions on their faces as well as their postures that they all feel various degrees
of anger and surprise. Bartholomew, James and Andrew, who are at the very left corner of the
table, look shocked, while Matthew, Jude and Simon, which are at the opposite corner seem to
discuss what had just happened. Actually, Matthew and Jude are turned toward Simon and it
appears like they are trying to find out if he has any answer to their primary questions. Really
interesting is the posture of Judas who is the only person with his right elbow on the table. He
looks rather reserved and stunned by the sudden revelation of his plan. Judas is wearing blue
and green clothes and is clutching a small bag, which is recognized by many to be the silver
given to him as payment to betray Jesus. The most important part of his representation is that he
is in shadow, which somehow reveals that he is responsible for the future death of Christ. Next
to Judas are Peter, who is visibly furious, and John who looks like is going to fade away. And
here is again one of the many questions that this work raise is it John on the painting or is it Mary
Magdalene? Some art analyzers claim that the person to Jesus is not the Apostle John but Mary
Magdalene. In fact, this

How Is Online Learning Different From A Traditional Classroom
Online learning is much different from the traditional classroom settings. Aside from the obvious
location differences, there are pros and cons to online learning that are very different from a
classroom. A student must be willing to embrace these differences to successfully move forward
and excel in the online environment.
One of the things in online learning that is important is establishing your classroom. With a
traditional class, the classroom and times are designated to the student. In an online
environment, it is up to the student to determine the when and where. It is important to
remember that all of your classes take place on the computer and even your book can be found
there. It is the student s responsibility to make this work for themselves. Part of being able to
excel in learning is setting up a time and a place where you will be able to make learning work
for you. This also relates to good time management. Let those around you know when you will be
in class so that they do not disturb you during this time. With a designated time and place set aside,
a student can begin to schedule their days around when they have time to get their classwork
completed.
Another huge element to online learning is communication. The instructor is located at a remote
location and the student does not have face time with them. The student will need to learn to reach
out through messages or phone calls. This is essential when learning online. The student may also

Research Paper On Jean Valjean
There were many candidates for my essays subject. I considered Jean Valjean, for we both put
others ahead of ourselves. Marius was another candidate. He and I both have unpopular political
views and have a tendency to rebel. However, I think the best choice for the essay is Javert. He
was the very bottom of my list, but crawled his way to the top. As I read more about his
character, it became more and more apparent that he was who I needed to write about. Of all the
characters, I am most like Javert.
Javert is portrayed throughout the story as animalistic. He values the law and justice above all
else. He practices justice as a way to make up for his own upbringing. Javert takes it upon himself

I have suspected you unjustly. That is nothing. It is our right to cherish suspicion, although
suspicion directed above ourselves is an abuse. But without proofs, in a fit of rage, with the
object of wreaking my vengeance, I have denounced you as a convict, you, a respectable man, a
mayor, a magistrate! That is serious, very serious. I have insulted authority in your person, I, an
agent of the authorities! If one of my subordinates had done what I have done, I should have
declared him unworthy of the service, and have expelled him. Well? Stop, Mr. Mayor; one word
more. I have often been severe in the course of my life towards others. That is just. I have done
well. Now, if I were not severe towards myself, all the justice that I have done would become
injustice. Ought I to spare myself more than others? No! What! I should be good for nothing but
to chastise others, and not myself! Why, I should be a blackguard! Those who say, `That

Essay On Sir Cumference And The Isle Of Immeter
The child I choose to teach was my little sister Itzel Ruvalcaba, she is about to complete 5th

Sir Cumference and the Isle of Immeter by Cindy Neuschwander illustrated by Wayne Geehan.
The Publisher is Charlesbridge Pub Inc. and copyright date of January 1, 2006. The basic math
concept I am teaching her is finding the perimeter of a square, rectangle, and circle as well as
finding the circles area. The novel is mainly about a young girl named Per visits her Uncle Sir
Cumference and his family and learned how to play a game Inners and Edges Per learned the
formula for Area the length (l) multiplied by the width (w)= Area (A). The same night she finds a

Also, Great Britain being located on an island, has made the nation prone to conflict as they have
had to control the surrounding waters, enabling trade with Europe and the rest of the world. This
has been true both in the Napoleonic wars, and for more recent wars, such as World War I
and II.

Group polarization is the tendency to make more extreme decisions than the members initial
thoughts. This phenomenon especially shows in wars because it links the parts together and
contradictory thoughts and values surfaces even more. The group polarization that occurs
generally has positive effects to the society and in this case, it greatly impacted the British society.
The British people had the same intentions, and with that in mind, the internal political
controversies usually decline. Another incident that occurred during and after World War II that
shows how wars bring people together was Winston Churchill`s desire for a united society.
Churchill served as prime minister of Britain through the World War II. He was popular among the
British people and he is known for his inspirational speeches. At the general election in 1945, the
conservative party, led by Churchill, lost the election. The result of the election was contradictory
to almost all the polls and surveys done prior to the election. More importantly, this shows how
wars gather people and impact the society. Accordingly, this shows how one can act remarkably
different in groups than as

Appointed Place of Duty 1
The importance of being at your Appointed Place of Duty It is always important to be where you
are supposed to be. In the Army, every leader stresses the fact on being on time or being at the
right place or being in the right uniform. So if you have to ask yourself is it important to be
where you are told to be? I think most Soldiers and Leaders will tell you that it is very important. It
is my responsibility to be where I am supposed to be. It is all about accountability. You have to keep
track of your Soldiers. It is my responsibility and my leader s responsibility. They are responsible
for my actions as well you. In the articles of military justice a Soldier can be charged Appointed

I know that my inability to be at the right place, at the right time, in the right uniform, and with
the right attitude reflected poorly on my leadership which is something that I never wanted to
happen. I also know that I showed a lack of leadership, selfless service, and responsibility, which
are three of my army values. I know that my inability to leadership could later affect a promotion
and it affects the trust that my leadership has towards me. I know in order to be a successful
soldier I must show leadership qualities at all times. I know by me not showing up for work
made it look like I don t have selfless service. I know that I must put my nations, my units, and
my battle buddies needs before my own in order to accomplish the mission successfully and
smoothly. I know that when I failed to show up for duty that I not only showed lack of
responsibility but also a lack of discipline. So in conclusion I have learned that the account of
people is very high because if one person is gone it could mess up and crew or any team that
plays a big role into deployment. I never understood what the role was till my first deployment
but you have to always be prepared for the worst in everything that you do. I have to realize that
it s not just me that s here it s a whole brigade that makes moves and make things happen. Like I
know that I should have been on time and that I should have showed up. So yes I take the fault for
that but I still see that in the long run

European Colonialism In Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe
Chinua Achebe s novel Things Fall Apart, and the reading African Challenge both look at the
consequences and benefits of European colonialism on the Igbo people and African culture. The
novel s main character is Okonkwo, who is the head the Umuofia clan, a Nigerian tribe. One of
Okonkwo s personal mission is to not be like his father, who he viewed as a coward and weak.
Okonkwo s accomplishes this mission by being obsessed with masculinity and viewing feminity in
a derogatory way. Okonkwo s hold over his clan is tested by the infusion of missionaries and along
with them colonialism into Nigeria. The African Challenge also talks about the European
missionaries and their mission to spread Christianity amongst the Igbo peopleand also about the
beliefs that both societies had about eachother. Through the incorporation of the Igbo language
throughout his novel, and the interactions of the Europeans with the Igbo people and their customs
presented in both the novel and African Challenge, we can see both the benefits and consequences
that European colonialism had on the Igbo society and African culture.
Both readings highlight how the Igbo people s insistence on sorcery and ancestral spirits leads to
conflict between the Europeans and the Igbo people. The first instance of conflict that arises in the
novel, is when a missionary to convert a village woman to Christianity, and accidentally kills an
ancestral spirit. This leads to the villagers burning the missionary s huts. The

Analysis Of Plato s Republic And Aristotle s Politics

Contemporary Civilization

Family in Political Society
Plato s Republic and Aristotle s Politics both accredit nature to the teleological functions of men,
women, and children. Nevertheless, each philosopher defines family differently to support their
main goals of finding the right type of society. While Plato does not conform to the traditional
definition of a family with a husband, wife, and children and instead defines the role of men and
women separately, Aristotleuses the family as a microcosm of political society, in the hopes of
showing readers how to create a just society for the former and a virtuous one for the latter.
Plato describes the Kallipolis the ideal city for the ancient Greeks in his Republic. The
Kallipolis prides itself on abiding by the truth of justice, which Plato defines as a citizen doing
one s one work that fits his character (Plato 119). By doing one s own work, the citizen is
contributing to the greater good of society, which Plato coins as the ultimate key to justice
accordingly, the better [will be ruling] the worse, [which] is to be described as temperate and
master of itself (117). This specialization characterizes the role of family in the political society
one that consists of each individual doing one s own work to contribute to the greater good.
However, the family in the Republic is so loosely created that readers may interpret the family as
nonexistent in Plato s novel.

could not be allowed to carry on as staff who helps the service user make her bed may sustain an
injury. The family could not see that we have a legal requirement to work within the safety of the
health and safety legislation. I did suggest that we highlight a repair/maintenance job for the bed to
be lowered that is safe to use for both the service user and staff.
Also within the workplace before an activity can be undertaken we are required to complete a risk
assessment and any areas where we need to put safety measures in to limit the potential risks then
this must be done before the activity can take place as well as demonstrating that we need to
monitor staff s working practices and review and update the risk assessment at the appropriate times.
In delivering a registered care service all staff must have mandatory health and safety training before
completing any given task whether this be fire safety, food hygiene, manual handling, infection

ensuring that all service user s welfare are giving top priority in line with quality and safety

Ocean Tide Research Papers
Amari Williams
Research Paper RD Beginning with its creation, Earth has been in contact with many natural,
environmental disasters. Majorities of the chaos still have effects on people living in coastal areas.
Because of the Earth s large capacity of water and relationship with gravity, tidal waves through
extreme tidal storms are created. The Moon heavily influences the movement of Earth s tides by
shifting and relating land features, using its gravitational pull to change the height of the tides,
and also affecting the speed of the Moon s revolution. To start, the Earth s aquatic tides are the
constant rise and fall of bodies of water every day (Jacobs 9). Gravity, provided by the Moon and
some parts of the Sun, helps create the ocean s tides (Jacobs 10). It is also often caused by the

Land tides are pieces of ground or land that are slowly shifted up and down twice by the
gravitational force between the Sun and Moon ( The ). Because of important use of mainly
sunlight, land tides occur most near the Equator and not often in the poles. These tides happen in
four cycles: the lunar diurnal, lunar semidiurnal, solar diurnal, and solar semidiurnal ( Tides ).
Diurnal tides last 24 hours while semidiurnal tides only last 12 hours. During a land tide, the center
of the Earth to the outer crust takes time to deform under the Moon and Sun ( The ). The
deformation takes toll on geological processes and volcanic eruptions ( Tides ). To include,
scientists found that volcanic eruptions and tides have a relationship because of the magma flowing
in volcanoes. Geologists use specific instruments like: seismometers, tiltmeters, and strainmeters to
measure slow shifts. Results from these tools are placed on a graph to view the various
movements of Earth. In 1978, Spahr Webb, former M.I.T student, measured with two thirty six feet
tiltmeters and found a tidal tilt in Earth s surface that was .01 of an inch (Wylie

Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife Refuge
Near the small town of San Antonio, NM is a spectacular display of one of nature s finest
balanced beauty and wilderness paradise, Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, situated
on the northern edge of the Chihuahuan desert and straddling the Rio Grande. Fitting is the
name Bosque del Apache, meaning woods of the Apache, a reminder of the Apache peoples of
long ago who lived along the Rio Grande. The 57,331 acre refuge was established in 1939 by
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, an effort aimed to preserve the area as a wildlife habitat.
The nucleus of the refuge is 7,000 acres of flood plain, an extensive area of wetlands and
farmlands. Arid foothills and towering mesas ascend to the Chupadera Mountains and the San
Pascual Mountains, giving shape to a landscape that captivates. Remnants of a lost civilization are
evident in the petroglyphs in the region, along with stone tools and other artifacts. The Piro
Indians that lived in the valley at least 700 years ago, hunted, fished, and farmed the land. Today,
the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge protects the ruins that tell their story. It continues
to be a magnet for human migration along its corridor, and provides shelter for a diversity of

Gold Nanorods Essay
In the ever advancing field of nanotechnology and materials science there has been a buzz in the
air in recent years over Gold Nanorods (GNRs). Their unique structure and ease of synthesis
provides a range of optical properties that can be readily manipulated. These properties can be
utilised in various applications such as surface functionalisation, photothermal therapy to manage
tumours and cancer cells. In this review, we will look at the current research that analyses the
toxicity of GNRs and what effects the surface chemistry and synthesis have on this. We will also
discuss what effect the size and shape of GNRs have on biological systems, reinforcing why they
are making such a statement in the world of science.

Gold nanorod (GNR) synthesis requires the surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide
(CTAB) [7], this process produces a high yield of GNRs with surface plasmon resonances in the
infra red as well as visible light range. CTAB is the agent that drives anisotropic growth as well
as provides the stabilization needed to form the bilayers on the GNRs [8]. Quite a significant
amount of CTAB is used in this synthesis and after the synthesis there is still an amount of CTAB
remaining on the surface of the GNRs [9]. The excess CTAB on the surface has both a lack of
stability in biological systems and presents a significant amount of cytotoxicity [3, 10, 11]. In the
literature it has presented that GNR solutions that are CTAB capped at a certain concentration
present a substantial amount of cytotoxicity at around 70% loss of cell viability [10]. In this paper
published by Wiley, with over 600 citations was an extraordinary paper. It was well constructed
and no faults could be found with it. With that amount of citations, it has clearly influenced the
further investigation of the cytotoxicity of GNRs. Now we have identified that CTAB is the
problem, how have researchers attempted to solve it? You re probably thinking, remove the
CTAB, which is a very reasonable suggestion. Removing the CTAB from the surface of the GNRs
and replacing them with other viable biomolecules is not a simple process. By removing the CTAB
from the surface of the GNRs the first issue

Analyzing The Play The Marriage Of Figaro
Comedy comes in different genres. Certain comedy is just to make somebody look ridiculous
without a real purpose, while comedy in other cases is hiding something that is an underlying
problem. Comedy is often used as a tool to come across with a serious point where the critique is
shown in a way that emphasizes the problem in a humoristic way. In the beginning stages of the
French revolution, there remained a critique of the French society. This critique is expressed in the
comedyThe Marriageof Figaro which is a comedic play. The comedy is central of this play, which
makes it possible for the author to come across with his points and critique concerning the French
society. The author uses comedy to show the differences in gender, class,... Show more content on

The author is trying to put focus on the gender, class, monetary power and political power as a
critique of the French society. The author is trying to equalize the rights between the social
classes in the society, which was the general idea that the French society was headed. The author
uses different tool kits to express his ideas. First of all, the play is taking place in Spain since the
play happened to be illegal in French due to its criticism. Another tool kit the author uses is
comedy. He uses comedy to create comedy of the differences there were in the society at that
time of the French society. The distribution of power is made humoristic in a way that shows
that the power the Count has does not always succeed to be performed where Cherubin is
character that creates comedy of the Count in several situations. Also the comedy of the
monetary power is to show that the society is corrupt, with the example of the court case.
Although a critique of a society should not be humorous, the comedy in this play is only
strengthening the play in a way that enables the author to juggle around with the importance of
each character. He plays around with the power of people in a way that gives the greatest
powerful character the least power character and vice versa. This is an effective way of expressing
his critique by making the most significant people in the society look silly. Additionally, his use of

OremпїЅs Self-Care Deficit Theory And Roy s Adaptation Model
Compare and Contrast of Grand Theories: Orem s Self Care Deficit Theory and Roy s
Adaptation Model Nursing theories play an integral role in guiding practice, education, and
research. Many different theoretical perspectives are maintained in the field of nursing due to
the diversity of the field, no single theory is able to account for all nursing knowledge. The
purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast two nursing theories that have produced a
profound impact on nursing practice. The theories being compared are Dorothea Orem s Self
Care Deficit Nursing Theory (SCDNT) and Sister Callista Roy s Adaptation Model (RAM).
Both theorists have profoundly influenced nursing science, research, practice, and education.
Similarly, both of these theories fall into the category of Grand nursing theories which are the
most complex theory level and explain broad areas of the discipline, as well as being the
broadest in scope (McEwen Wills, 2014). Background Dorothea Orem is a notable figure in the
nursing community, receiving several Honorary Doctorate degrees (McEwen Wills, 2014). Orem
was a member of the Board of Health in Indiana from 1949 until 1957 (McEwen Wills, 2014). She
received her first form of nursing education at the Providence Hospital School of Nursing in
Washington, DC. She continued to educate her self by attaining her master s degree in nursing
from Catholic University in 1945. Orem experienced nursing from both practical and educational

Examples Of Double Crossing In Julius Caesar
What does disloyalty mean? Double crossing is the demonstration of breaking or abusing one s

breaking trust. The way of double crossing in Julius Caesar originates from Cassius control of
Brutus into believing that slaughtering Caesar is the best thing for the countryНѕ while as a

Brutus double cross Caesar? In act I Brutus was controlled by Cassius and was persuaded that
killing Caesar was the most ideal thing for the general population of Rome. Later, in act II as
Caesar is being killed by the backstabbers, who are individuals Caesar expected could have

eyes as he was being wounded. Caeser was stunned and thought about how Brutus, surprisingly,
could have taken an interest in his homicide. This conveys an exceptionally dim intending to the

Julius Caesar And The Civil War Essay
The Civil War, consisting in large part of Caesar s own account of the conflict between himself
and Pompey, explores the origins of the war, the manner in which it was carried out, and most
importantly the role of pivotal figures on both sides of the struggle. Prior to his records ending
and supplementation by military officers, Caesar makes a case for his involvement in and perhaps
triggering of the war, one which would transform the social and political landscape of the Roman
empireas battles and campaigns were waged from Spain to Italy, Africa to Asia Minor. Caesar
walks a fine line between historian, strategist and orator as he attempts to record historical events,
martial decisions, and persuade an audience respectively. Despite his efforts to remain impartial, as
evidenced by his admission that the Pompeians were winning at Dyrrachium, Caesar consistently
presents himself as a charismatic and skilled general and leader, jeopardizing the integrity of the
text as objective material and allowing it to be a propagandist account of sorts. Ultimately, Caesar
uses anecdotal evidence, the presentation of his personal thoughts, and juxtaposition with his
opposition to paint his side of the war in a positive and just light. When reading The Civil War, it
is critical to understand what Julius Caesarwas attempting to accomplish by recording a narrative of
his war, on and off the battlefield, with Pompeyand his forces. Every author creates their work with

Music And The Second World War
Music and the Second World War Adam Griffin South Piedmont Community College Music
Appreciation 110 Mr. Campbell In World War II, jazz absolutely was the music of freedom, and
then in the Cold War, behind the Iron Curtain, same thing. It was all underground, but they
needed the food of freedom that jazz offered Herbie Hancock. Looking back into history, you
could create a timeline of events with nothing but song titles. Music was not just music, it was a
lifestyle. Every major event in history has numerous songs that go along with or describe the
happening. In the following paragraphs, I will describe aspects and elements of music for pre
World War II, World War II, and post World War II. One could say that music was a form of
expression throughout the times of war, and the songs produced during this time period clearly
express all aspects of life before, during, and after the war. Pre World War II had a huge impact
on the course of our nation and our world; not only musically speaking, but also in the terms of
historical events. During this time we saw events such as the Wright brother s first flight of an
airplane in 1903, Ford Motor Co. introducing its first Model T vehicle in 1908, World War I from
1914 to 1918, the stock market crash in 1929 resulting in the start of the great depression, the
beginning of World War II in Europe in 1939, and the end of the great depression in 1940. When

The Pros And Cons Of Cognitive Therapy
Theory
The definition of cognitive relates to the activity that goes on within the mind, such as thoughts,
perception, and memory (Cognitive, n.d.), and behavior is understood as the manner that a person
handles their acts (Behavior, n.d.). Cognitive therapy (CT) focuses on how the processes that
happen within the mind and connects them with the physical symptoms that occur, and help to
prove the role that thoughts play in behavior. (Kingdon Dimech, 2008) The focus of behavioral
therapy is to exclude unwanted behaviors and strengthen and reinforce beneficial behaviors
(Cherry, 2017). So, when the two are combined together, the two are looking at how a person s
mindset can shape the way that they act, which is what cognitive behavioral therapy is about.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) began in the 1960s through Dr. Aaron T. Beck, and is now the
most common studied form of psychotherapy (Hoffman, Asnaani, Vonk, Sawyer, Fang, 2012). This
form of therapy has also been proven that when handling any disorder that can experience an
episode that through this therapy it can help prevent another episode from reoccurring (Hoffman,
Asnaani, Vonk, Sawyer, Fang, 2012). Through this process, it will allow the patient to see that they
are in charge of their behaviors and thoughts. It also allows them to realize when there is a chance
of a relapse occurring, so that way they know how to help prevent themselves from not having
control of their thoughts and behaviors.

  • 2. Compare and Contrast Dna and Rna Compare and contrast DNA and RNA. Discuss why humans did not evolve with one central repository of DNA, but rather it is replicated throughout the body? Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA): It is helical double stranded nucleic acid made of complementary purine and pyramidines supported by deoxy ribose sugars and phospodiester structures. (5 Prime to 3 prime). Eukaryotic DNA material. Ribonucleic acid (RNA): It is a single nucleic acid supported by adenine, guanine, cytosine and uracil supported by ribose sugars. mRNA, rRNA and tRNA. Double standed RNA Viruses are also with RNA as genetic material a) Makes a complementary strand of RNA gt; primase Primase is an RNA polymerase that reads DNA and synthesize complememntary RNA strand... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The four bases found in DNA are adenine (abbreviated A), cytosine (C), guanine (G) and thymine (T). A fifth pyrimidine base, called uracil (U), usually takes the place of thymine in RNA and differs from thymine by lacking a methyl group on its ring. If we only had one central repository of DNA, it would take a long time for a protein to be made. We d have to make it far in advance of needing it, so we wouldn t be able to quickly respond to new situations. Imagine if you were out hunting, and suddenly, a wolf appeared at your side. If you were slow at making proteins because you had one central repository of DNA, the wolf would probably get to you before you could respond safely. Also, regulation of proteins occurs at the level of DNA as well as on other levels. In some cells, certain sections of DNA are bundled tight in a mass of proteins, in such a way that no RNA (and thus no protein) can be made from them. This turns off those genes. In other sections, only a few proteins might be keeping the DNA turned off, so that it could quickly be unravelled and used to make proteins. This decreases the chance of harmful mutations killing the entire body, as well. Right now, you have redundancy many copies of heart cells, each with a full set of DNA. Now imagine that something goes wrong with one of those cells. It can safely suicide , and the other cells will replace it. If we had one central set of DNA, if anything ever went wrong ... Religiontoo has its own set of rituals and its own spatial and temporal associations. It is something used by the masses to form a collective bond with their fellow peers in a way that transcends the bounds of normal relationships. In other words, Spanish football clubs are prolongations of their local and regional cultures. Therefore, anyone can identify with them without even being interested in football. However, solely commitment to the sport does not necessarily mean that we can define the sport as a religion. Either way, the hearts of the loved ones left behind are broken with despair. I have sent flowers and consoled love ones. But, I didn t fully understand death s sting until took my beloved Mother and Friend from my family. She was the glue that held me and my siblings together throughout our adult years. It was our ritual to speak before I started and ended my day. My Mother encouraged me to continue on through my storms. During my deployments, I could count on her prayers. My Mother knew what words to speak to soothe me and she could build me up with her understanding. I loved that she never took sides when my siblings and I would have disagreements. She would remind us the importance of family ties. As a child, I could remember coming home broken because I felt like an outcast. The children were cruel to me. I was the kid in the home made dress or the plaid pants with the penny loafers. You see, my Mother was a single parent raising five children. We lived in low income housing and she worked several jobs to provide the essentials. In our home there were no name brand clothing and hand me downs were the normality. She kept us feed, clean and a roof over our heads. My Mother loved us all equally and made us feel as if we lived above poverty. We would always have family night on Saturday. This evidence poses a further challenge to dividend theories in so far as candidate theories should be able to explain time series changes in the propensity to pay dividends. We extend this literature by examining cross sectional and time series evidence on the propensity to pay dividends in several developed financial markets the United States (U.S.), Canada, the United Kingdom (U.K.), Germany, France, and Japan over the period 1989 to 2002. Specifically, we examine (i) whether the characteristics of dividend payers and nonpayers are common across countries; (ii) whether these characteristics have changed over time; and (iii) whether firms in other countries exhibit a declining propensity to pay dividends in recent years. In addition, the use of international data allows us to provide further tests of the life cycle, signaling, clientele, and catering explanations by analyzing the concentration of dividend payments as well as the association between Baker and Wurgler s (2004a,b) dividend premium and the propensity to pay dividends in other countries. Our evidence reveals common determinants of dividends across countries. Like Fama and French (2001), we find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Do they do it to protect their children, or do they do it to make themselves look better? Shakespeare s Hamlet exemplifies this confusion through Polonius. Right hand man to the king, and father to Laertes and Ophelia, many of Polonius actions raise this question, but only one side can be true. Throughout the play, Polonius uses his charm and wit to control Laertes, Ophelia, and Claudius, in order to preserve his position in court. In Nuerland the tribe is divided into three separate groups. These will be referred to as primary, secondary and tertiary sections. They are all segments of each other as the primary is a segment of a tribe, secondary segment of the primary, and tertiary segment of the secondary (Evens Prichard, 1940). Members of these segments only regard themselves as a member of that segment in relation to segments of the same kind (Evens Prichard, 1940). For the Nuer there is always an inconsistency between definitions of your political group as your membership is only determined by your non membership of other groups (Evens Prichard, 1940, p. 282). Specifically, in Nuerland, the tribal system is relative. It cannot be described in the terms of a political morphology as their relations are so dynamic. Similarly, the Nuer segment themselves through a lineage systems. The Nuer clan is a highly segmented system in the same way as the tribal system. The clan is segmented into the maximal lineages which separate in major lineages which go into minimal which turn into minor lineages (Evens Prichard, 1940, pp. 286 287). Similarly to the tribal system lineages are only distinct groups in relation to each other. • 14. The Great Presidents By Woodrow Wilson Essay Presidential greatness isn t necessarily determined just by success or remembrance, but is determined by the ideas that a president has and how it impacts the people. Each president sets out with an agenda to accomplish and to leave a legacy behind, however, only few presidents are remembered, celebrated, and taught about. The history of great presidents often correlates to time of war for America. This is because great presidents often emerge to the people in times of crisis, such as wars. Of the many great presidents, Woodrow Wilson, offers unique qualities such as energy, intelligence, and leadership that make him a great president. The traits of a great president are beginning to be defined first in Federalist 70 by Alexander Hamilton. In this document, Hamilton outlines the need for a strong executive branch and the need for a strong president. A trait that Hamilton believes defines a good president is a trait of strong energy; energy to protect the nation, secure the liberties, and help administer laws to help promote the stability of the nation. Hamilton argues that a feeble executive implies a feeble execution of the government. (Lawler). Without a strong, energetic president as the backbone to provide leadership, the country can fall into the traps of factions or anarchy, ultimately destroying the government. In addition to strength and energy, intelligence and leadership is crucial for a president to be effective and great. Leadership is a necessary quality to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This study builds on the previous requirements defined for a B 2 companion trainer, and adds tactical requirements in order to recommend a solution that achieves both objectives. The Nature of the Problem This research is necessary because T 38s are aging out at all units. The T 38A at Whiteman AFB, MO, currently reaches its end of service life in 2028. Currently, the B 2s end of service is 2058, which highlights the urgent requirement for a replacement trainer. B 2 pilots fly limited sorties due to the size of the B 2 fleet and the nature of stealth aircraft. Stealth aircraft require specific Low Observable (LO) maintenance which is both time consuming and costly. Due to the limited sorties, B 2 pilots have utilized a CTP since 1993 to provide additional time necessary for crews to maintain flight currency and continue to develop airmanship skills . The Phantom of the Opera went through many more stages until it was able to become the Broadway musical that we know today. In 1930, dialogue and music was added to the silent film and later in 1945, it was rewritten and produced in technicolor (The Phantom of the Opera Website). In 1984, Andrew Lloyd Webbercame across a review of a stage adaption of the book that was being produced in Stratford and he contacted Cameron Mackintosh about turning it into a musical. The Phantom of the Opera has been performed in many countries and continents such as Africa, Australia, Japan, and Latin America, and over 130 million people have seen it (The Phantom of the Opera Website). The musical has really beautiful music and I like that the majority of the show is kind of a flashback and it s not really taking place in real time. That s not very apparent throughout the show and it does not really impact it but I enjoy that it s different. I also never noticed until I was rewatching the performance for this journal that the lot that the chandelier is in at the start of the show is 666. I think that says a lot about the connotations of the chandelier and what it was a part of. I really enjoy this show despite it not really being my type of musical. I like that it is able to stand on it s own without a ton of flashy dance numbers. The music is the thing that stands out the most. Opera has not been very popular in the last few decades so I think that it is very impressive that a show called Phantom of the Opera was able to do so well in the late 80 s and continues to do extremely well today. Essay on Why Britain Won the Battle of Britain Why Britain Won the Battle of Britain After taking France in addition to his list of captured countries on mainland Europe, Adolf Hitler set his sights on Britain. After the success of Blitzkrieg, the evacuation of Dunkirk and the surrender of France, Britain was by herself. However, before Hitler could contemplate undertaking an invasion he was advised by his generals that Germany had to destroy the Fighter Command of the Royal Air Force in order to gain superiority in the air. This would in turn enable him to gain control of the English Channel in order to transfer the 160,000 German troops on the 2000 invasion barges, which had been assembled in German, French and Belgian harbors, over the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, under the category of technology I could say that one reason why Britain won the battle of Britain was because they had the services of the radar system. Firstly, the tactics employed by both sides would play a key role in itself to deciding the outcome of the Battle of Britain. The battle started on July 10th 1940 when the Luftwaffe attempted to gain control of the Straits of Dover. The tactics employed by the Luftwaffe was to tempt the RAF out for a full scale battle. However, by the end of July, the RAF had lost 150 aircraft while the Luftwaffe had lost 268. These figures illustrate that there was a much greater loss of aircraft experienced by Germany than the British. These large losses of planes from the outset of a battle would have been a significant blow to any army however, this would have damaged German morale as a greater loss of planes was not something they would have contemplated and as they were coming into this battle with such high expectations, this would have been a significant blow to the Luftwaffe and a stern wake up call to their commanders. However, Britain too was suffering, it was the loss of trained pilots that was crippling the RAF, and the real battle had yet to begin. In August, the Luftwaffe changed their tactics and started to attack Fighter Command s airfields, operation rooms and radar stations the idea being that the RAF ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What a Writer Needs to Capture Historical Event To achieve lasting literature, fictional or factual, a writer needs perceptive vision, absorptive capacity, and creative strength. ~Lawrence Clark, a writer. This might be what the writers of the Renaissance had in mind: what all people of the Renaissance had in mind. The Renaissance happened during the 15th and 16th centuries. The Renaissancegets its name from the French word rebirth , which is what the Renaissance is seen as by bringing back the great ancient Greek and Roman works. From the lesser known writers such as Thomas Decker and Samuel Daniel to the more famous such as Sir Thomas Wyatt and William Shakespeare, all the writers contributed greatly to the literary achievements of the Renaissance. It is important to understand what the Renaissance was. After the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 A.D., the Dark Ages descended on Europe. The Dark Ages lasted until the beginning of the 15th century, when the Renaissance began. The thinkers of the Renaissance are associated with antiquity, the classics, history, and moral philosophy. With the bringing back of the classics, some writing contained an English Latin mixture. The main idea associated with the Renaissance is humanism, which brought to view the importance of human value. The influences on work included Christianity, classical antiquity, scholarship, and politics. Most thinkers and inventors earned a living of their craft. Leonardo s painting actually represents the different reactions of the Apostles when Jesustold them that they would be the reason for his death and that someone among them is a betrayer. We can see from the expressions on their faces as well as their postures that they all feel various degrees of anger and surprise. Bartholomew, James and Andrew, who are at the very left corner of the table, look shocked, while Matthew, Jude and Simon, which are at the opposite corner seem to discuss what had just happened. Actually, Matthew and Jude are turned toward Simon and it appears like they are trying to find out if he has any answer to their primary questions. Really interesting is the posture of Judas who is the only person with his right elbow on the table. He looks rather reserved and stunned by the sudden revelation of his plan. Judas is wearing blue and green clothes and is clutching a small bag, which is recognized by many to be the silver given to him as payment to betray Jesus. The most important part of his representation is that he is in shadow, which somehow reveals that he is responsible for the future death of Christ. Next to Judas are Peter, who is visibly furious, and John who looks like is going to fade away. Aside from the obvious location differences, there are pros and cons to online learning that are very different from a classroom. A student must be willing to embrace these differences to successfully move forward and excel in the online environment. One of the things in online learning that is important is establishing your classroom. With a traditional class, the classroom and times are designated to the student. In an online environment, it is up to the student to determine the when and where. It is important to remember that all of your classes take place on the computer and even your book can be found there. It is the student s responsibility to make this work for themselves. Part of being able to excel in learning is setting up a time and a place where you will be able to make learning work for you. This also relates to good time management. Let those around you know when you will be in class so that they do not disturb you during this time. With a designated time and place set aside, a student can begin to schedule their days around when they have time to get their classwork completed. Another huge element to online learning is communication. The instructor is located at a remote location and the student does not have face time with them. Ought I to spare myself more than others? No! What! I should be good for nothing but to chastise others, and not myself! Why, I should be a blackguard! Essay On Sir Cumference And The Isle Of Immeter The child I choose to teach was my little sister Itzel Ruvalcaba, she is about to complete 5th grade and I thought it would be perfect to teach her a little math lesson. The novel I selected was Sir Cumference and the Isle of Immeter by Cindy Neuschwander illustrated by Wayne Geehan. The Publisher is Charlesbridge Pub Inc. and copyright date of January 1, 2006. The basic math concept I am teaching her is finding the perimeter of a square, rectangle, and circle as well as finding the circles area. The novel is mainly about a young girl named Per visits her Uncle Sir Cumference and his family and learned how to play a game Inners and Edges Per learned the formula for Area the length (l) multiplied by the width (w)= Area (A). The same night she finds a clue within the game linked to the island with a mysterious castle on the Island of Immeter guarded by a sea serpent. Positive Effects Of Group Polarization Due to its history as a great colonial power, as well as its geographical location, Great Britain has been involved in numerous wars and conflicts throughout history. The British Empire, which was at is greatest in the 16th and 17th, stretched around the globe, and as the Superpower of the time, Britain wished to protect its interest by using the necessary means, which in many cases meant war. Also, Great Britain being located on an island, has made the nation prone to conflict as they have had to control the surrounding waters, enabling trade with Europe and the rest of the world. This has been true both in the Napoleonic wars, and for more recent wars, such as World War I and II. Being involved in prolonged wars, with the loss of large numbers of lives and... The group polarization that occurs generally has positive effects to the society and in this case, it greatly impacted the British society. The British people had the same intentions, and with that in mind, the internal political controversies usually decline. Another incident that occurred during and after World War II that shows how wars bring people together was Winston Churchill`s desire for a united society. Churchill served as prime minister of Britain through the World War II. He was popular among the British people and he is known for his inspirational speeches. At the general election in 1945, the conservative party, led by Churchill, lost the election. The result of the election was contradictory to almost all the polls and surveys done prior to the election. More importantly, this shows how wars gather people and impact the society. I know that my inability to leadership could later affect a promotion and it affects the trust that my leadership has towards me. European Colonialism In Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe Chinua Achebe s novel Things Fall Apart, and the reading African Challenge both look at the consequences and benefits of European colonialism on the Igbo people and African culture. The novel s main character is Okonkwo, who is the head the Umuofia clan, a Nigerian tribe. One of Okonkwo s personal mission is to not be like his father, who he viewed as a coward and weak. Okonkwo s accomplishes this mission by being obsessed with masculinity and viewing feminity in a derogatory way. Okonkwo s hold over his clan is tested by the infusion of missionaries and along with them colonialism into Nigeria. The African Challenge also talks about the European missionaries and their mission to spread Christianity amongst the Igbo peopleand also about the beliefs that both societies had about eachother. Through the incorporation of the Igbo language throughout his novel, and the interactions of the Europeans with the Igbo people and their customs presented in both the novel and African Challenge, we can see both the benefits and consequences that European colonialism had on the Igbo society and African culture. Both readings highlight how the Igbo people s insistence on sorcery and ancestral spirits leads to conflict between the Europeans and the Igbo people. • 44. Analysis Of Plato s Republic And Aristotle s Politics Mercedes Chien Dr. Joel Klein Contemporary Civilization 2 November 2015 Family in Political Society Plato s Republic and Aristotle s Politics both accredit nature to the teleological functions of men, women, and children. Nevertheless, each philosopher defines family differently to support their main goals of finding the right type of society. While Plato does not conform to the traditional definition of a family with a husband, wife, and children and instead defines the role of men and women separately, Aristotleuses the family as a microcosm of political society, in the hopes of showing readers how to create a just society for the former and a virtuous one for the latter. Plato describes the Kallipolis the ideal city for the ancient Greeks in his Republic. The Kallipolis prides itself on abiding by the truth of justice, which Plato defines as a citizen doing one s one work that fits his character (Plato 119). By doing one s own work, the citizen is contributing to the greater good of society, which Plato coins as the ultimate key to justice accordingly, the better [will be ruling] the worse, [which] is to be described as temperate and master of itself (117). This specialization characterizes the role of family in the political society one that consists of each individual doing one s own work to contribute to the greater good. However, the family in the Republic is so loosely created that readers may interpret the family as nonexistent in Plato s novel. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Majorities of the chaos still have effects on people living in coastal areas. Because of the Earth s large capacity of water and relationship with gravity, tidal waves through extreme tidal storms are created. The Moon heavily influences the movement of Earth s tides by shifting and relating land features, using its gravitational pull to change the height of the tides, and also affecting the speed of the Moon s revolution. To start, the Earth s aquatic tides are the constant rise and fall of bodies of water every day (Jacobs 9). Land tides are pieces of ground or land that are slowly shifted up and down twice by the gravitational force between the Sun and Moon ( The ). Because of important use of mainly sunlight, land tides occur most near the Equator and not often in the poles. These tides happen in four cycles: the lunar diurnal, lunar semidiurnal, solar diurnal, and solar semidiurnal ( Tides ). Diurnal tides last 24 hours while semidiurnal tides only last 12 hours. During a land tide, the center of the Earth to the outer crust takes time to deform under the Moon and Sun ( The ). The deformation takes toll on geological processes and volcanic eruptions ( Tides ). To include, scientists found that volcanic eruptions and tides have a relationship because of the magma flowing in volcanoes. Geologists use specific instruments like: seismometers, tiltmeters, and strainmeters to measure slow shifts. Results from these tools are placed on a graph to view the various movements of Earth. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gold nanorod (GNR) synthesis requires the surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) [7], this process produces a high yield of GNRs with surface plasmon resonances in the infra red as well as visible light range. CTAB is the agent that drives anisotropic growth as well as provides the stabilization needed to form the bilayers on the GNRs [8]. Quite a significant amount of CTAB is used in this synthesis and after the synthesis there is still an amount of CTAB remaining on the surface of the GNRs [9]. The excess CTAB on the surface has both a lack of stability in biological systems and presents a significant amount of cytotoxicity [3, 10, 11]. In the literature it has presented that GNR solutions that are CTAB capped at a certain concentration present a substantial amount of cytotoxicity at around 70% loss of cell viability [10]. In this paper published by Wiley, with over 600 citations was an extraordinary paper. It was well constructed and no faults could be found with it. With that amount of citations, it has clearly influenced the further investigation of the cytotoxicity of GNRs. Now we have identified that CTAB is the problem, how have researchers attempted to solve it? You re probably thinking, remove the CTAB, which is a very reasonable suggestion. Julius Caesar And The Civil War Essay The Civil War, consisting in large part of Caesar s own account of the conflict between himself and Pompey, explores the origins of the war, the manner in which it was carried out, and most importantly the role of pivotal figures on both sides of the struggle. Prior to his records ending and supplementation by military officers, Caesar makes a case for his involvement in and perhaps triggering of the war, one which would transform the social and political landscape of the Roman empireas battles and campaigns were waged from Spain to Italy, Africa to Asia Minor. Caesar walks a fine line between historian, strategist and orator as he attempts to record historical events, martial decisions, and persuade an audience respectively. • 54. The Pros And Cons Of Cognitive Therapy Theory The definition of cognitive relates to the activity that goes on within the mind, such as thoughts, perception, and memory (Cognitive, n.d.), and behavior is understood as the manner that a person handles their acts (Behavior, n.d.). Cognitive therapy (CT) focuses on how the processes that happen within the mind and connects them with the physical symptoms that occur, and help to prove the role that thoughts play in behavior. (Kingdon Dimech, 2008) The focus of behavioral therapy is to exclude unwanted behaviors and strengthen and reinforce beneficial behaviors (Cherry, 2017). So, when the two are combined together, the two are looking at how a person s mindset can shape the way that they act, which is what cognitive behavioral therapy is about. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) began in the 1960s through Dr. Aaron T. Beck, and is now the most common studied form of psychotherapy (Hoffman, Asnaani, Vonk, Sawyer, Fang, 2012). This form of therapy has also been proven that when handling any disorder that can experience an episode that through this therapy it can help prevent another episode from reoccurring (Hoffman, Asnaani, Vonk, Sawyer, Fang, 2012). Through this process, it will allow the patient to see that they are in charge of their behaviors and thoughts. It also allows them to realize when there is a chance of a relapse occurring, so that way they know how to help prevent themselves from not having control of their thoughts and behaviors. So, ...
