Jeff Karpell Research Paper
Jeff Karpell was a standout outfielder for the Fairleigh Dickinson baseball program. His
freshman campaign he posted the longest hit streak by reaching base safely in seven
consecutive games. Karpell also led all freshmen in hitting with a .313 batting average. Karpell
really stood out as a sophomore earning All Northeast Conference honors with a .337 average,
which put him 3rd on the team and 9th in the NEC. During his senior season Karpell threw out 9
base runners, which is good enough to put him first for most single season outfield assists.
Karpell s efforts are still shown in the FDU record books where he ranks: 7th in single season
hits (64), 7th in triples (4), 3rd in runs batted in (59). Along with his single season achievements
Karpell is also 7th in career batting average (.343), 7th in at bats (571), 5th in hits (196), 3rd in
triples (9), and 2nd in RBIs (145).
Natalia Marchanka is known as one of the best all around players for the Women s Basketball
program. She led the Knights in scoring from 2002 2004. She is currently 10th all time in single
season scoring and 4th in career points with 1,664. Along with being a great scorer Marchanka led

held a remarkable 3.22 team ERA. At the plate Rigoli batted .258 in 1975 and .283 in 1976. In

The Link Between Science And Crime
The link between science and crime was originated days back in 1840 s in Europe and when
Spanish physician Soler made reference to the concept of the born criminal.
No one in the history of criminology has a reputation like Cesare Lombroso.
Darwin s hypothesis of development, with its startling decisions and cautious arrangement
frameworks, in view of point by point physical portrayals of many finch mouths and ocean turtle
carapaces, is a prime sample of this new science. Taking up from where Darwin left, Cesare
Lombroso s deliberate investigation of criminal physiognomy tried to support society by
recognizing crooks. Lombroso particularly inspired by the thought of Charles Darwin that some
men are hereditarily closer to their primitive heritage of the concept of born criminal.
Lombroso was a multifaceted researcher who took a gander at for all intents and purpose each part
of the lives, minds, bodies, state of mind, words, lifestyles, and practices of criminal guilty parties
with expectations of discovering the conclusive reason for crime. He was the pioneer in actuation of
investigative systems to criminology. Lombroso turned into a well known positive criminologist.
The essential thought behind constructive criminology is that lawbreakers are conceived as being
what is indicated and not made into criminals; as it were, it is the way of the individual, not sustain,
that brings about criminal inclinations. Lombroso s fundamental theory was his concept of atavism,

My Vision And Plans For Personnel Psychology
With these words and emphasis, Taylor and Mosier (1948, p. 1) launched Personnel Psychology
over 60 years ago. Then, as now, Personnel Psychology was centrally concerned with the study of
people at work. As the new editorial team begins its term, I want to take this opportunity to share
my vision and plans for Personnel Psychology. To understand where we are heading, however, it is
helpful to first consider where Personnel Psychology has been. As former editor John Hollenbeck
noted when describing some of Personnel Psychology s past ground breaking research, The impact
that one has on the future seems to be closely related to one s appreciation of the past (1998, p.
819). In that spirit, we look forward by first looking back.

It is our intent as the incoming editorial team to continue P Psych s tradition of encouraging and
promoting research centered around people at work, something that has characterized the journal
from its inception (Cascio Aguinis, 2008). We are interested in publishing articles that will continue
to represent the full range of human resource management and organizational behavior topics,
including job analysis, recruitment and selection, training and development, performance appraisal

design, global and cross cultural issues, organizational climate, work attitudes and behaviors,

Motifs In A Tale Of Two Cities
Motif: A motif is a narrative element with symbolic meaning that repeats throughout a work of
literature. Example: No fight could have been half so terrible as this dance. It was so
emphatically a fallen sport a something once innocent, delivered over to all devilry a healthy
pastime changed into a means of angering the blood, bewildering the senses, and the heart (288).
Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities Context: As soon as Charles Darnay arrives at France, he becomes
a prisoner and is taken to a prison named La Force. After learning about Charles departure, Lucie
and Dr. Manette follows Darnay to France. Dr. Manette tells Lucie about a window in the prison
where Charles can see her at a certain spot on the street. As a result, Lucie shows up there on that
street everyday. But one day, the revolutionaries is seen on the streets performing a frightful

The Effects Of Television On Our Society
Last month Annie, my cousin, told me with anticipation that she will be size zero next week by
eating miracle herbal pill, which she ordered after watching its advert on television. I looked at
her with a contemptuous smile, and said You Wish . She started explaining to me how in the
advert her favorite singer lost 25 lbs. in just two weeks by using this overpriced herbal formula.
After two weeks, I visited her to see the awaited wonder, but I realized that she is one of the
victims of lured advertisements, which are now part of our everyday life. We see
advertisements on the television showing new glamorous lifestyles, hear them on the radio, see
slogans embellished on people s shirts, on the side of the buses, on billboards, in fact
everywhere. Companies spend lot of money researching for their target audiences to make their
product appeal to as many consumers as possible. The wide variety of channels and print media
makes it easy for advertisers to be specific about who sees their product. For instance, children s
channel like Nick Junior is packed with commercials for toys and games, whereas The Cookery
Channel that have an older, mainly female viewership air commercials for perfumes, clothes, and
holidays. The propagandatechniques are essential for the advertisers to create eye catching adverts
because they are in competition with all the other advertisements for the similar product. Examining
advertisements closely reveals that regardless of the similarities and

Victor Frankenstein Moral Analysis
Victor Frankenstein seemingly goes through several moral pitfalls throughout Mary Shelley s
novel. Between playing God and inviting life to be placed upon a concoction of otherwise left
over body parts, or, completely abandoning the Creature during its first second of life. Is either one
morally correct? No. But in my opinion, one is far worse than the other. Frankensteinis equally as
defiant of that of a teenager. As soon as he is told not to do something, there is no turning back,
and he must then follow through with his plan. For example, when he is told by both his father and
more forwardly so by his professor, M. Krempe, that Every minute, every instant that you have
wasted on those books is utterly and entirely lost after he mentioned his studies of natural
philosopher s Cornelius Agrippa, Albertus Magnus, and Paracelsus, Frankenstein immediately
finds another professor who enables his interests and urges him to continue, which he does.
However, that all soon spirals out of control and he finds himself in his laboratory day in and day
out, obsessively carrying out his experiment, until finally, he sparks life into his new creature.
Playing God, when one is in fact a mere human, can never have a good outcome. We as humans
have a nasty habit of wanting instant gratification, and in this case, to also prove the naysayers
wrong. As human, there is no way for Frankenstein to ever understand every possible outcome that
may occur after this creature is brought into the

Response To Buddhism Dbq Analysis
Responses to Buddhism varied depending on the political and religious order in China. In docs 1
and 2, the response was conversion and hope in times of political instability. In docs 3 and 5, the
response was to practice not just Buddhism but other religions as well to coexist. In docs 4 and 6,
Confucianism was reinstituted and the response to Buddhismwas xenophobic and negative because
Confucianismwas being threatened.
In documents 1 and 2, both are explaining how to follow Buddhism and that you can reach Nirvana
by following the noble truths. This supports the thesis because while China was going through a
period of political instability after the collapse of the Han empire people wanted to find comfort in
a religion The Buddha preaches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In document 4, the Chinese xenophobic mindset appears that Buddha was foreign and barbaric.
Han Yu, the Confucian scholar also said that Buddha deludes China and people will self mutilate
because of this religion. This supports the thesis because China has a very high ego and is often
seen as self sufficient so when something foreign invades, they believe it is unnecessary and
sometimes going so far as to call it evil and that is must be ridden of. Calling Buddhism evil and
barbaric is certainly a negative response to the spread. Document 6 also shows a very negative
response to Buddhism written by the Emperor Wu of the Tang dynasty. The emperor claims that
Buddhism in injuring mankind and that the followers are too abundant. He complains that while
the Buddhists are off praying in temples and living a secluded life, they should be fulfilling their
roles in China such as farming and feeding the population. During this time, after legalism was
thrown out and the civil service exam was reinstituted based off Confucian values so it is
obvious the emperor felt that Buddhism threatened the social standards and hierarchy of
Confucianism and needed to dispose of it. His point of view is that as the emperor, he must
protect his Mandate of Heaven and keep order in his empire, and the way to do that is for people
to pay taxes (which Buddhist

The Second World War (WWII)
World War I, was the so called war to end all wars, but it did not solve many of the problems that
had caused it. So, of course, some years later started another world war. The second World War
was the largest and most violent, brutal, and tragic conflict that happened between 1939 and 1945.
The two sides in the war were the Axis, which was Germany, Italy, and Japan against the Allies.
Canada was one of the many different countries of allies who were fighting against the Axis. Some
of the other allied countries were Britain, France, China, and the United States of America. When

The day before, Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Just a few hours after attacking
pearl Harbor, the Japanese forces began attacking other Allied bases in Southeast Asia, one of
those bases was Hong Kong. Only a few weeks before they attacked Hong Kong, 1975 young and
inexperienced Canadian soldiers and 2 nurses had arrived in Hong Kong to join the British and
other troops stationed there. The allied troops had no chance against the 50 000 battle hardened
troops. The Japanese instantly took over the airport, so the allies had no hope for any air
support. There were no reinforcements available for the allies, but despite their hopeless position,
the Allied troops resisted, rejecting their demands to surrender. The continued to fight until the
end, but on Christmas, they finally stopped fighting and put down their weapons. The 1685
Canadians who survived the battle were put into Japanese prisoner of war camps. More than 260
Canadians died from the absolutely brutal conditions in the camps, since many were forced to
work as slave labours in Japanese shipyards and mines. The Canadians made a major sacrifice in
this war. Only 1975 inexperienced Canadians and only 2 nurses were able to defend Hong Kong
without any reinforcements or air support from the 50 000 Japanese experienced soldiers, which
had air support and reinforcements. This shows that Canada is willing to sacrifice everything and

Don John s Tragic Flaws Essay
Anyone with access to William Shakespeare s books knows that his plays are littered with
characters withholding tragic flaws; especially in Much Ado Ado About Nothing, where these
personality dysfunctions are most relevant. Despite the downfall a character may experience
withholding a tragic flaw in this book, these traits are most significant when it comes to developing
the story; which is especially the case with Don John, a major characterwho s tragic flaw paves way
for the entire arc of Much Ado About Nothing. As a result, Don John s tragic thirst for revenge and
mischief eventually leads to his own slow downfall in ways that are more impactful than thought of.
For example, the most noticeable impact of this tragic flaw is how strongly ... Show more content

Roman Catholic Church
The Protestant Reformation was to Christianity what the Civil Rights movement was to African
Americans. During the 16th century, the Catholic Church exploited humans by making salvation
from God a market, or system, in which one could earn salvation by financial contribution, or
confessing one s sin to a priest. Salvation is a gift, granted by God, to be received by faith alone.
Using the common themes theory, this paper will expound on the problem the Roman Catholic
Churchposed on the Roman Empire, by corruptly managing acceptance into God s graces, the
solution Martin Luther employed to resolve the problem, and the effects of his solution. Looking
at the problem the Roman Catholic Church posed on the Empire in the early 16th century is a
twofold problem. First, this paper will look at the economic problem. Leo X, the pope of the
reformation period, lived an extravagant lifestyle, indulging in the arts and fancy banquets, and he
was the executive of an ambitious effort to erect the St. Peter s Cathedral (Reston 7). That, coupled
with his luxurious lifestyle, taxed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That leads into the second problem in the common themes theory, the exploitation of human rights
through indulgences. Indulgences are rendered by a priest, yet licensed by the Pope, for the
forgiveness of the punishment of sins, through financial contribution or good works (Cunningham,
Reich, 327). The aim of the indulgences sold during the papacy of Leo X, lessened the amount of
time one would spend in purgatory (Harris, Zucker). Purgatory is a holding cell for people, who
have committed sins, and are held there until they sit their time, and the pope has the keys to the
holding cell (Harris, Zucker). This is where the undermining of human rights erupts. Does the pope
have the authority to prescribe a financial offering that will dictate someone s eternal

Adam Goodes Booing In Australia Analysis
Today I would like to speak to you about the article you wrote about the focus on Adam Goodes
recently, and the opinions I have about it. I have very strong feelings about football and I love the
sport. I fully understand the impact of racist comments, but this Goodes booing has blown way out
of proportion from what it really means.
Adam Goodes booing is firstly not about his background and where on this planet he came from.
It has nothing to do with that. He brought that all onto himself by saying that it was all about his
aboriginal background. It is all simply on the way he talks to the crowd and the way that he
communicates to the crowd. Some of the gestures he does and words said can be considered
offensive to the crowd. He knows that it is wrong to do these thing, and what a bad influence it can
have on Australian Rules football.
Not only do these things have a bad influence on AFL but also it has a bad influence on Australiaas
a whole. What are people around the world going to think about us if they see the videos or see
the news? They are going to think that we a huge racist country, that has no respect and no one will

The fieldwork and research questions are an opportunity for candidates to showcase appropriate
fieldwork and research that they have carried out or discussed. It is pleasing to see the range of
techniques attempted and the sources consulted in this work. Many candidates have an absolute
armoury of fieldwork options and research resources at their disposal. As in previous series, the
very best responses were able to describe accurately the group or individual fieldwork they had
done linked to real locations. Weaker candidates became lost in case studyinformation not focusing
on the sources from which this data had come. Lists of fieldwork techniques can only gain a limited
amount of marks and it is the use of these techniques in an investigation that the questions often
require. Unfortunately some candidates again seemed to be caught out by questions which asked
them about post fieldwork, ie results and conclusions. Remember that questions may not always
focus solely on the planning and execution of fieldwork and research, but could also be focused
on: (i) a description of the methods used to present and analyse the data;
(ii) a description of the results and conclusions; and,
(iii) how the methods of fieldwork and research were evaluated.

George Washington Leadership
George Washington was born in Virginia in 1732. Contrary to popular belief, he never chopped
down a cherry tree, and people should find it appalling that we need to make up a lie about one of
the most honest men in our country s history. His character was not inherited. He sought after every
ounce of his integrity from childhood through adulthood. This is why the Revolution did not make
George Washington. The Revolution revealed him. He also learned the value of hard work at a
very young age. At 16, he was already surveying land and would go on to survey in Ohio. He also
loved agriculture and the science behind it. In his library at Mount Vernon, he kept the most
updated books on agricultural techniques. He was so eager to learn about the latest agricultural
advances that a historian actually called him our nation s first scientific farmer. This experience
helped him in battle when it was necessary for him to try methods that were largely unconventional
at the time. In 1754, Washington became a Lieutenant colonel in the British military. It was during
this time that he fought against the Indians and the French. These long years of battle also saw his
life spared multiple times, which led some of his followers to believe that he could not be killed.
However, Washington was quick to assure them that this was not the case. Shortly after these
battles, Washington returned home where he married a widow named Martha Curtis. When
Washington returned to public service, he held

The Sociology Of Leopard Man Analysis
One of the many joys of life is being able to choose your own path. The decision of being a
conformist or a nonconformist lies all in the palm of your hand. In his article, The Sociology of
Leopard Man , Logan Feys states, To be human is to be an individual human, with individual tastes,
talents, values, and aspirations that are distinct from those of others. Living in society, we are under
constant pressure to surrender our individuality to the will of the majority, the school, the
workplace, the family, etc. Everyone is their own unique person, with a different personality than
the next, and at the end of the day it is your personal option to display or hide your own
individuality when around others. Overall, Feys claims that society holds a heavy cloud over
everyone s head that pressures them to submit their own personality,... Show more content on

According to Feys, Society looks down upon freakish and extraordinary individuals alike and
views them with suspicion. Ordinary people fear what they don t understand (p 4) . No matter
what you do or say, society will always have its own judgement, and looking for its approval won t
help in the long run. If you are content with yourself and embrace who you are as an individual,
someone will always accept and love you for who you are. All things considered, I have found
myself completely agreeing with Logan Feys and his views on individuality and the statement of
breaking free of society s shackles in order to be who you are freely. In the long run, doing so will
provide you the opportunity to be genuinely happy, embrace your individuality, and lastly think for
yourself. It is important to learn to take advantage of the choices and opportunities that life has
handed you; to learn to control your own life and not let society do it for

Don Quixote Sparknotes
In Miguel de Cervantes book Don Quixote, the protagonist of this book is Don Quixote, a man
who has gone mad and assumed the identity of a knight errant. Don Quixote wanders the
countryside in search of maidens to save, duels to engage in, and enchanters to stop. The comedic
element of this book revolves around Don Quixotes unbreaking faith in the stories of chivalry
which he reads. Our main character gets himself into countless embarrassing scrapes due to the
fact that he thinks fairies, enchanters, and dragons exist. In the famous story of the windmill,
where Don Quixote mistakes a windmill for a giant, we see that his worldview is greatly warped
by the stories which he has read. Miguel de Cervantesis by no means a silent narrator, he often
inputs his opinions and uses insults to describe the protagonist, using phrases such as madman or
fool . Cervantes uses the great faith Don Quixote exhibits to input his own raillery against faith. In
fact, it can be said that one of the main points behind the story of Don Quixote was a ridicule of
blind faith.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Therefore, whenever someone was in his eyes an ugly troll or a devious enchantress, he believed

for what is right, he would always win. However, Cervantes portrays this as a character flaw, he

The Importance Of Social Media On The Internet
As the governing authority of the most well known communist country, Chinese government has
the absolute control over the Internet, social platforms, school textbooks and a range of other
mediums. Any remark, report or topic that relates to political sensitive figures such as president,
vice president or political criminals are forbidden on the Internetand whatever that may provoke
social unrest or disadvantages to the government is strictly monitored and forbidden. Because of
political opacity, only a few are bothered about politics, among which most of them are bitterly
disappointed at the government. It is clear that owing to the internet censorship, they are too afraid
to criticize outspokenly in real life, and as a result, anonymous social media becomes the only
effectual channel. Though anonymity to some extent allows these minority people to commenton
politics or even tell true stories of political scandals in social platforms anonymously without
concerns to be tracked down by government officials, it is actually a futile attempt to promote the
political discussion environment because of the cautiousness people have about the phrase they use
or abusive words and messed up sentences they throw at the government to unleash their
dissatisfaction and rage. Many if not most of these people don t trust the absolute anonymity: they

Neil Postman The End Of Education Summary
Introduction:
Education in today s day in age has evolved to become an intricate system of developing
individual knowledge on social values and academic knowledge in the context of a technologically
advanced global society.
Neil Postman in his book, The End of Education, argues that the educational crisis is complex and
that the technical problem of building academic skills is just a scratch in the surface. Postman
believed that schools focused more on teaching economic utility, consumerism, multiculturalism and
technology. Postman (1995) also claims that schools in their methods and practices do not
necessarily help students in preparing for economic life and that there was no evidence that a
quality schooling experience could be associated with positive economic productivity (p.28).
Moreover, Postman claims that the value of group cohesion and connectivity with peers is lost with
the individualization of computer learning (1995, p.45). Postman believed that learning to accept
the world with all its cultural rules, requirements, constraints, and even prejudices; is one of the two
things schools must be teaching. The second being, students developing skills to be critical
thinkers, which in turn makes them rational, independent minded and problem solving adults
(1995, p.60). Postman s views were that education with technology is teaching about how
technology assists and restricts students in doing positive or negative things, how education was
dealt with in the

The beach, the place that concedes the chance to the people to be closer to the sea, smell the

Varadero Beach, in Cuba allows one to experience all this explosion of sensations and beyond.
For example, Clearwater Beach and Varadero Beach provide the vacationists the chance to

beaches offer hotels and warm waters that invite to all who visit them to fall in love with

different from each other. To begin with, the water in Varadero Beach is of a crystal light blue.
A transparent and clear water that, on the cloudiest day, allows the visitor to spot the rich marine

Bullying In Workplace
This paper addresses, the issues with bullying in the workplace. It goes into detail about what
bullying is, how it affects the workplace, a company that has had issues with bullying, and finally
what a company can do to make sure does not occur.
Bullying
In this paper, I will address the issue of bullying in the workplace. I will define bullying, how
bullying affects their workers, also address a company that has had issues with bullying, finally
what steps a company can take to make sure their employees have a bully free workplace.
Bullying
Bullying can be found in any job. Bullying is a malicious attack on a person, it can include name
calling, gossiping about someone, or maybe even false work reports. It can be so extreme that it
can stress an employee out to the point that can become physically or mentally ill (Ehrenkranz,
2016). Bullying can come from anyone within a company from a co worker, to a member of
management.
How it affects the workplace
Bullying can affect employees in many ways it can cause depression which could lead to even
more serious issues such as suicidal thoughts and actions, job performance can decrease, and
productivity can even decrease due to the co workers not being able to work ... Show more content

The Woman Who Changed the Style of the World Essay
The term The Little Black Dress, the fragrance Chanel No. 5, the Chanel suit with its soft,
cardigan like jacket and skirt, have become part of the timeless fashion vocabulary familiar to us
all. From our perspective, these aspects of modern fashion hardly seem revolutionary, but Coco
Chanel was a businesswoman who became successful by adopting fashion to the evolving role of
women in a rapidly changing wartime society; her vision that left a legacy which endures to this
day. To understand the role of Coco Chanelas a fashion revolutionary, it is important to understand
the era that she lived in and how the world of fashion differed from the one we know today. In

Tennis Essay
As we all know, America is a nation of sports enthusiasts. Most Americans participate is some
kind of sporting event, either as a spectator or as a competitor. In the pantheon of great American
sports, there is one that stands out. It has been called the great American pastime. Yes, that great
sport known as tennis. Tennis requires a mastery of many skills to be able to play competitively,
but the primary skill needed to win in tennis is the serve. The serve is the primary offensive
weapon used I tennis, because it is the only time when a player gets to put a ball into play. The
player controls the speed, the placement, and the spin of the ball. With proper procedure, the serve

The server should hold the racket in his or her right hand, holding the right arm straight toward the

his or her left hand, touching the ball to the racket face.
The actual serve motion requires timing and speed. The server should toss the ball straight up into
the air by fully extending his or her left arm. He or she should leave the left arm fully extended to
help sight the ball as it ascends. While the ball is in the air, the server should rotate the racket head
so that it points away from the net, and then bring it straight up so that the frame almost touches the
right shoulder blade. Meanwhile, the server should shift his or her weight to the right leg. Then, as
the ball reaches the height of its ascent, the server should jump up while fully extending his or her
right arm toward the ball and slightly twisting his or her right wrist to bring the racket face into
contact with the ball. Then he or she should continue the forward motion of the racket by following
through the stroke, bringing the racket across the body so that it points toward the ground at the
server s left side.
These directions are for a right handed player. A left handed player would use the same technique,

Learning to Cope with ADHD as an Adult Learner Essay
Learning to Cope with ADHD as an Adult Learner Typically when one hears the term ADHD and
the potential negative effects that it could have on someone striving towards academic success,
they immediately think school age children. Though it is more common for children to be
diagnosed and treated, 5% of U.S. adults are living with this condition (American Psychiatric
Association, 2012). First ADHD must be defined before coping methods can be explained. ADHD

Of those stimulant medications, the most common are Ritalin, Dexedrine, Adderall, Adderall
XR, Concerta, Vyvanse, and Focalin XR (Jaksa, 1998). For those who do not like stimulant
medications or the idea of seeing a psychiatrist on a regular basis, there are alternate forms of
treatment for dealing with the effects of ADHD. Yoga, Vitamins, Herbal Supplements, and even
special diets have been proven to be successfully in helping an individual deal with the effects of
ADHD (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2013). One could gain a lot from using these alternate forms of
treatment if they want to take natural approach to treatment. They would not have to worry
about the potential negative side effects of stimulant medications. They can also become
addictive. However, this can also be risky. These alternate forms of treatment cannot replace the
expertise and knowledge of a licensed psychiatrist. Working with someone who is certified to
diagnose and treat this condition can provide access to some of the best treatment possible.
ADHD is associated with poor grades, poor reading and mathematics standardized test scores,
and an increased likelihood of repeating a school year (Daley Birchwood, 2009, pg. 457). The

similar challenges as an adult learner. Individuals with ADHD face academic disadvantages. This is

several Arab countries. Lebanon is the homeland of majority of Arab Americans, followed by Syria,
Palestine, Iraq, Egypt, Yemen, and Jordan. The Arab world consists of 21 countries that span from
North Africa to the Persian Gulf. Arab Americans are as diverse as their countries of origin, with
unique immigration experiences that have shaped their ethnic identity in U.S. While the majority

The Contribution Of Islam And Islam
Outline the contribution to Islam of ONE significant person or school of thought other than
Muhammad and the Four Rightly Guided Caliphs.
Sayyid Qutb s contributions lie in his books and writings, which express his values and
perspectives. He wrote a total of 24 book and articles criticising the American way of living and
the Arab world for trying to become westernised. Social Justice in Islam was written first,
expressing his belief in tawhid (unity in God) and in Islam as the only way of life. He then joined
the Muslim Brotherhood, contributing to Islamic perspectives as chief editor of the brotherhood s
newspaper. Sayyid was arrested as he was accused of attempting to overthrow the govt. In prison, he
completed Shadows of the Qur an, which is a commentary on the Qur an, trying to find new
ideology and thus return to a truly Islamic environment analysing how Muhammad dealt with
ignorance. Milestones was published after his release and was so controversial, it lead to him
being re arrested. Three concepts were introduced in Milestones known as jihad (struggle against
evil as a community), jahiliyya (ignorance) and aqida (belief in Allah). As a result, Muslims strive
to fulfil their duty to defeat jahiliyya through forms such as jihad to serve Allah.

The Failure Of Communism And Communism
Joel Boyd
S.A. Middleton
HIST 130.10
22 April 2015
1.Discuss the seeming failure of communism and other forms of socialism and the apparent
triumph of capitalism in the 1990s, as well as considering capitalism s possible benefits and debits
in the early twenty first century.
Capitalism and Communism have both been put forth as the best models for modern enlightened
societies. Each philosophy contains both desirable and undesirable elements within its framework.
Communism is based on a firm belief that fiscal and social equality is the path to an ideal utopian
society. Capitalism is based on the principle of individuality, and the exercise of individual rights,
freedom, and the liberty to pursue advancement in a competitive free market. Each has shown its
strengths and weaknesses. Over the course of time however only one has emerged successfully in
the early 21st century, though not without its own egregious faults.
Communism has its roots in the philosophy of Marx and Engels. In their Communist Manifesto
published in 1848, they laid out the principles of communist society. In Communist society, no
private ownership of property is allowed. Property should be shared among the people and
likewise the economy. Through economic and social equality, the hope was that individuals would
work for the common good of society, and leave the desire for advancement, power and authority
behind. Ideal systems do not exist in nature. That statement stands alone as a pillar

Observation Of Solar Eclipses
Solar eclipses provide a unique opportunity to observe the sun itself owing to the moon
providing a clear view of the solar chromosphere. Observations of the sun during a solar eclipse
lead to a variety of discoveries ranging from the discovery of elements to a deeper understanding
of solar activities such as coronal mass ejections. The use of equipment in new ways allows
scientists to make previously unimaginable discoveries as Pierre Jansen discovered in 1868 while
observing the sun. With the knowledge of atomic emission spectroscopy and new instruments
Pierre Jansen observed the spectrum of the chromosphere that was briefly visible at the
beginning and at the end of totality and saw a bright yellow emission line (Pasachoff, 2009).
After further observation without an eclipse he and Norman Lockyer independently confirmed
that this line indicated the presence of a new element named helium. Observations of this nature
can produce false positives as was the case for coronium. From solar observation green, red, and
several fainter emission lines (Pasachoff, 2009) were observed and attributed to an element
named coronium. The existence of such an element was later disproved when it was discovered
that these lines came from highly ionized states of iron, calcium and nickel (an astro...). Solar
observation during an eclipse can also give insight to solar phenomena such as coronal mass
ejections, also known as CMEs. CEMs are billion ton clouds of magnetized plasma ejected from

What Is The Growth Of Poverty In Canada
The article The Growth of Poverty and Social Inequality: Losing Faith in Social Justice by Ann
Duffy and Nancy Mandell displayed many important facts about poverty in Canada. I believe the
most important information I got from this article is how intersectionality largely effects poverty
in Canada. From children to women to disabled, the article showed how each group is more
affected by povertythan their counter parts. I believe it is important to acknowledge the different
groups and how poverty affects them separately, as well as how poverty affects them when they
are intersected. Canada is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, however, many citizens
are below the blurred poverty line. (251). The poverty line in Canada is measured by the LICO
IAT (boooook) and the MBM (253). The resources for those below the poverty line are very
poor; food banks and shelters are unable to uphold the amount of people that are in need of them.
(252). Among the poor, many people have paid employment, however, it is not enough. Poverty in
Canada is largely based on intersectionality; how different aspects of a person combine to form a...

It is hard to think of a solution of poverty that will help people defeat poverty. I believe that if
society stopped grouping people into categories such as female, indigenous, disabled, etc. than
intersectionality would have less of an effect on poverty then it does now. It is important that
intersectionality not have such a powerful affect on people s poverty status because it is unfair to
those who are below the poverty line due to these characteristics that are out of their

Climate Change And Weather Change
Recently, climate change has been a major topic of discussion. As the world decides what actions
should be taken to help with the changing climate, severe weather has increased over the past few
years. Several factors has created a change in climate but there have been countless effects to Earth
because of climate changeand severe weatheris one of those effects. In fact, the first decade of this
century (2001 2010) was the hottest decade recorded since reliable records began in the late 1800s
(Union of Concerned Scientist, n.d.). The Earth is not only stronger storms such as Hurricane Ivan,
Super Typhoon Haiyan, Joplin, MO tornado and tornado super outbreaks, but there also have been
severe droughts as well. Climate change is effecting extreme weather because the climate has been
changing over the years causing the waters and Earth to become warmer, which is causing extreme
weather to become stronger and more severe. Extreme weather can include storms and floods,
temperature extremes, droughts and habitat shifting alteration (The Open Standards, n.d.).
According to The Open Standards, storms and floods includes thunderstorms, tropical storms,
hurricanes and cyclones, tornadoes, hailstorms, ice storms and blizzards, dust storms and erosions
of the beaches. Temperature extremes are heat waves, cold spells, oceanic temperature changes
and disappearance of glaciers/sea ice. The Open Standards also states that droughts are severe lack
of rain and loss of surface water

Palliative Care Is The End Of Life Care
Introduction
Palliative care is the end of life care that includes a period of time during which an individual
copes with his or her declining health from an ultimately terminal illness, through chronic illness
(Lubkin Larsen, 2012).Palliative care seeks to prevent and relieve suffering and to support the
best possible quality of life for patients and their families regardless of their stage of disease (Holtz,
2012). Additionally, palliative care preserves a patient s quality of life and provides respite for their
families.
Meanwhile, the aging population faces chronic illnesses with which they will live with for years
before their death. It is however, pertinent to note that the four chronic diseases, leading to death for

Providing cultural insensitive care to the client is also unethical. Since families are responsible for
caring for the ill loved one, it becomes ethically important that they are at least aware of an
impending death.
Clients are also able to receive palliative care in their homes as desired, or in the health care
facilities, with effective pain management regimen for the hospice patient. In the United States, it is
legally unethical to cause harm to the patients. Whatever country one may originate from, it is
imperative that Palliative care is available for comfort measures and to addresses the pain of the
dying individual.
Principles of Palliative care
Palliative care requires effective communication, which is a core skill. The need for establishing
trust cannot be overestimated. Consequently, the establishment of a good rapport with the patient
and their families is necessary for administering and receiving care in a calm and trusted
atmosphere. According to Lubkin Larsen, (2012), the last acts palliative care task force developed
five palliative principles of care. These include the integration of these precepts into clinical practice
enables clinicians to provide a continuum of care otherwise unavailable to clients with advancing
illness and their families. However, studies suggest that patient centered care and interviews are
associated with improved levels of satisfaction on the part of patients and their families (Lubkin

Heteronormativity In The Classroom Essay
Heteronormativity: The adverse aftermath of assumption
Heteronormativity. When you announce that word to a group of people, you will most likely be
met with blank stares. It may be a bit of a mouthful, but it is a topic becoming more of an issue in
our society, and one I wish to acknowledge. To put it simply, heteronormativity is the belief that
everyone falls into complementary genders (man and woman to you and me) with roles in life, and
within these roles heterosexuality is the only acceptable sexual orientation. This pigeonholing exists
in all parts of life, but let us turn our attention to school; that blissful utopia where opinions about
what is acceptable begin to form. Allow me, then, to take you back through time to your first day
of school: trembling and quivering you sit on a colourful carpet and your teacher begins to read...

These stories are patronisingly simplistic: we are indoctrinating these 5 year olds with stereotypes
about gender and families. Added to the mix is a lack of female representation as seemingly
gender neutral characters (exhibit A: Winnie the Pooh) are almost always presented as male.
The books teachers read to children in a classroom should be representative of the world we live
in; not everyone will live in a three bedroomed house, daddy in the office; mummy in the
kitchen. So why are we telling children, in reading them such stories, that this is the case?
Further proof of this lies in the phrase Boys will be boys that I m sure you will all have heard in
the classroom, and at home. This originated in the 16th century, a time when gender inequality
was rife. So why are we still using it? By using it nowadays we re giving boys to misbehave
without consequence and perpetuating outdated expectations of the way boys and girls behave.
There must be a reason why 95% of prisoners are adult

Monsters Inc Reflection
This is the first time that I watched the movie Monsters Inc if not for the given task for us to write a
reflection utilizing McKinsey 7S Model of Strategy. The story is both touching, entertaining and
interesting.
Foremost of the McKinsey 7S model is the element of strategy. Monsters Inc., as a business
company, derives its product from scared children to produce energy. The children, as a source of
energy were assigned one employee each called the scarer, and permanently assisted by another
employee to handle the technical aspects of the job including recording and the filing of reports.
At the beginning of the story, Monster Inc believes that scaring children is the most viable source
of energy. The highest reading reflected on the meter scale supply the most amount of enegry.
However, the strategy shifted to the discovery of happiness from children which is more powerfull

In the movie, the new discovery shifted the lead work from Sully to Mike. Their turnabout roles
stemmed from the fact that Mike is more suited to extract laughter from children than Sully.
Personally, a new discovery of the company, or in this case a better one, can be very enriching for
a person. This could affect the output of the company into greater heights and create better
products. If not for discoveries, like in this case, research can also help the company perform
economically for better results or output.
The second element is structure. The movie presented a direct structure from source to extractor to
consolidation or reports to management. Even with the discovery of a new energy source, Monsters
Inc maintained its operational structure. I think this is the most economical way for the company
to achieve its objective and this suits well with my personality a simple and straight forward
approach from personal needs to personal

In Labyrinth , David Bowie s character, Jareth, the goblin king, was originally supposed to be a

and swift Slave revolts of all time. The causes of the Haitian Revolution were quite simple and
was similar to any other kind of slave revolt. Many ideas carried around by slave traders at the

They grew confident and more unified knowing they outnumbered the whites of the island ten to

Why Do Mediators Look For The Good
Mediators always look for the good even in the worst of people. They are perceived to be shy,
reserved, and quiet, but they have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Only comprising
4% of the population, the risk of feeling misunderstood is very high, but if they find like minded
people to spend their time with, the harmony they feel will be a fountain of joy and inspiration.
Mediators are guided by their principles. When deciding to move forward, they ll look to morality,
virtue, and beauty. They re purely led by intent, not rewards or punishment. People with this
personality are proud of it, but not everyone understands the drive behind their feelings, and it can

How Does Charles Bukowski Use Figurative Language In The...
Inner strength is not about how many push ups or sit ups you can do. It is about how we keep
trudging on, instead of giving up. This is proven to be true in the two poems The Laughing Heart
and The Journey . These poems are all about how your inner strength allows you to keep on
going, when the going is tough. The poets astutely describes how much it takes to keep going and
not give in. The poets do this by using figurative language, tone, and diction. In The Laughing
Heart the poet (Charles Bukowski) uses figurative language to embrace the fact that some people

stern and candid in the way he wrote. Your life is your life (Bukowski 1). The poet was being
very frank in the way he stated that line. He was describing it that way on purpose so the readers
would start out thinking of this being very direct and to the point . Similarly the poet of The
Journey set multiple tones which consisted of anxious and hopeful. Towards the beginning she
stated their bad advice through the whole house began to tremble and you felt the old tug at
your ankles (Oliver 5 9). That statement alone was a major indicator of the tone anxious. It was
showing how all the anger and bad advice puts stress on people. But the tone quickly changed
towards hopeful when in the lines twelve and thirteen the poet stated But you didn t stop. You
knew what you had to do, . It shows that the poet won t be stopped or held back by others who
treat her wrong. She will keep on moving and not stopping when she is challenged by fear and
redundant bad advice telling her otherwise. That is why the poet wrote the poem that way, so
others could see that they need to move on and not stop and stay

life as a 1953 Lakewood California donut shop known as Danny s Donuts. Danny s Donuts
expanded to a six store chain. When Jezak left the company Butler re envisioned, developed, and
implemented a plan for Danny s Donuts to include coffee shop edibles and other food faire.
Then in 1956 Butler renamed the company to Danny s Coffee Shops and went to a 24/7
operational schedule. To avoid confusion with another Los Angeles based restaurant, Coffee

portion of the name was removed leaving the current name Denny s intact as it remains today.
Today there are arguably very few Americans who have not been to a Denny s, or at least saw

take place due to lack of capital acess (TheJakartaPost, 2010). The market economy requires

While due to shortage in their supply, in June 2010 prices of rice and chili have increased by
2.67% and 45.7% (BPS, 2010). It indicates that price mechanism has been working along side
with less government intervention included. If this continues, not only price will increase due to
high demand and scarce of goods, but it will also affect the amount of nutrition taken by society,
where fruits and vegetables are the staple food of daily diets. This clearly shows that action has to
be done by the government, to varying people s diet and to improve nutrition, and also to stabilize
the prices of horticultural products as well.
Government is working on a bill to improve fruit and vegetables supplies, in order to guarantee a
continuous supply of horticultural products and to improve market outcome by facilitating better
capital access, financing and providing guarantees (TheJakartaPost, 2010). These will prevent
shortage of supply in market and will avoid prices to increase. Government will also have to

  • 3. The Link Between Science And Crime The link between science and crime was originated days back in 1840 s in Europe and when Spanish physician Soler made reference to the concept of the born criminal. No one in the history of criminology has a reputation like Cesare Lombroso. Darwin s hypothesis of development, with its startling decisions and cautious arrangement frameworks, in view of point by point physical portrayals of many finch mouths and ocean turtle carapaces, is a prime sample of this new science. Taking up from where Darwin left, Cesare Lombroso s deliberate investigation of criminal physiognomy tried to support society by recognizing crooks. Lombroso particularly inspired by the thought of Charles Darwin that some men are hereditarily closer to their primitive heritage of the concept of born criminal. Lombroso was a multifaceted researcher who took a gander at for all intents and purpose each part of the lives, minds, bodies, state of mind, words, lifestyles, and practices of criminal guilty parties with expectations of discovering the conclusive reason for crime. He was the pioneer in actuation of investigative systems to criminology. Lombroso turned into a well known positive criminologist. The essential thought behind constructive criminology is that lawbreakers are conceived as being what is indicated and not made into criminals; as it were, it is the way of the individual, not sustain, that brings about criminal inclinations. • 4. My Vision And Plans For Personnel Psychology With these words and emphasis, Taylor and Mosier (1948, p. 1) launched Personnel Psychology over 60 years ago. Then, as now, Personnel Psychology was centrally concerned with the study of people at work. As the new editorial team begins its term, I want to take this opportunity to share my vision and plans for Personnel Psychology. To understand where we are heading, however, it is helpful to first consider where Personnel Psychology has been. As former editor John Hollenbeck noted when describing some of Personnel Psychology s past ground breaking research, The impact that one has on the future seems to be closely related to one s appreciation of the past (1998, p. 819). In that spirit, we look forward by first looking back. From its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As of this writing, this set of articles has been cited almost 5,000 times (and this figure does not include the three articles published in the 1950s that are not indexed in the ISI/Web of Science database). It is our intent as the incoming editorial team to continue P Psych s tradition of encouraging and promoting research centered around people at work, something that has characterized the journal from its inception (Cascio Aguinis, 2008). We are interested in publishing articles that will continue to represent the full range of human resource management and organizational behavior topics, including job analysis, recruitment and selection, training and development, performance appraisal and feedback, compensation and rewards, careers, strategic human resource management, work design, global and cross cultural issues, organizational climate, work attitudes and behaviors, motivation, teams, and leadership. Example: No fight could have been half so terrible as this dance. It was so emphatically a fallen sport a something once innocent, delivered over to all devilry a healthy pastime changed into a means of angering the blood, bewildering the senses, and the heart (288). Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities Context: As soon as Charles Darnay arrives at France, he becomes a prisoner and is taken to a prison named La Force. After learning about Charles departure, Lucie and Dr. Manette follows Darnay to France. Dr. Manette tells Lucie about a window in the prison where Charles can see her at a certain spot on the street. • 6. The Effects Of Television On Our Society Last month Annie, my cousin, told me with anticipation that she will be size zero next week by eating miracle herbal pill, which she ordered after watching its advert on television. I looked at her with a contemptuous smile, and said You Wish . She started explaining to me how in the advert her favorite singer lost 25 lbs. in just two weeks by using this overpriced herbal formula. After two weeks, I visited her to see the awaited wonder, but I realized that she is one of the victims of lured advertisements, which are now part of our everyday life. We see advertisements on the television showing new glamorous lifestyles, hear them on the radio, see slogans embellished on people s shirts, on the side of the buses, on billboards, in fact everywhere. Companies spend lot of money researching for their target audiences to make their product appeal to as many consumers as possible. The wide variety of channels and print media makes it easy for advertisers to be specific about who sees their product. For instance, children s channel like Nick Junior is packed with commercials for toys and games, whereas The Cookery Channel that have an older, mainly female viewership air commercials for perfumes, clothes, and holidays. The propagandatechniques are essential for the advertisers to create eye catching adverts because they are in competition with all the other advertisements for the similar product. Examining advertisements closely reveals that regardless of the similarities and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Victor Frankenstein Moral Analysis Victor Frankenstein seemingly goes through several moral pitfalls throughout Mary Shelley s novel. Between playing God and inviting life to be placed upon a concoction of otherwise left over body parts, or, completely abandoning the Creature during its first second of life. Is either one morally correct? No. But in my opinion, one is far worse than the other. Frankensteinis equally as defiant of that of a teenager. As soon as he is told not to do something, there is no turning back, and he must then follow through with his plan. During the 16th century, the Catholic Church exploited humans by making salvation from God a market, or system, in which one could earn salvation by financial contribution, or confessing one s sin to a priest. Salvation is a gift, granted by God, to be received by faith alone. Using the common themes theory, this paper will expound on the problem the Roman Catholic Churchposed on the Roman Empire, by corruptly managing acceptance into God s graces, the solution Martin Luther employed to resolve the problem, and the effects of his solution. Looking at the problem the Roman Catholic Church posed on the Empire in the early 16th century is a twofold problem. First, this paper will look at the economic problem. The aim of the indulgences sold during the papacy of Leo X, lessened the amount of time one would spend in purgatory (Harris, Zucker). Contrary to popular belief, he never chopped down a cherry tree, and people should find it appalling that we need to make up a lie about one of the most honest men in our country s history. His character was not inherited. He sought after every ounce of his integrity from childhood through adulthood. This is why the Revolution did not make George Washington. The Revolution revealed him. He also learned the value of hard work at a very young age. At 16, he was already surveying land and would go on to survey in Ohio. He also loved agriculture and the science behind it. In his library at Mount Vernon, he kept the most updated books on agricultural techniques. He was so eager to learn about the latest agricultural advances that a historian actually called him our nation s first scientific farmer. This experience helped him in battle when it was necessary for him to try methods that were largely unconventional at the time. In 1754, Washington became a Lieutenant colonel in the British military. It was during this time that he fought against the Indians and the French. These long years of battle also saw his life spared multiple times, which led some of his followers to believe that he could not be killed. Living in society, we are under constant pressure to surrender our individuality to the will of the majority, the school, the workplace, the family, etc. Everyone is their own unique person, with a different personality than the next, and at the end of the day it is your personal option to display or hide your own individuality when around others. Don Quixote wanders the countryside in search of maidens to save, duels to engage in, and enchanters to stop. The comedic element of this book revolves around Don Quixotes unbreaking faith in the stories of chivalry which he reads. Our main character gets himself into countless embarrassing scrapes due to the fact that he thinks fairies, enchanters, and dragons exist. In the famous story of the windmill, where Don Quixote mistakes a windmill for a giant, we see that his worldview is greatly warped by the stories which he has read. • 19. Neil Postman The End Of Education Summary Introduction: Education in today s day in age has evolved to become an intricate system of developing individual knowledge on social values and academic knowledge in the context of a technologically advanced global society. Neil Postman in his book, The End of Education, argues that the educational crisis is complex and that the technical problem of building academic skills is just a scratch in the surface. Postman believed that schools focused more on teaching economic utility, consumerism, multiculturalism and technology. Postman (1995) also claims that schools in their methods and practices do not necessarily help students in preparing for economic life and that there was no evidence that a quality schooling experience could be associated with positive economic productivity (p.28). Moreover, Postman claims that the value of group cohesion and connectivity with peers is lost with the individualization of computer learning (1995, p.45). Postman believed that learning to accept the world with all its cultural rules, requirements, constraints, and even prejudices; is one of the two things schools must be teaching. The second being, students developing skills to be critical thinkers, which in turn makes them rational, independent minded and problem solving adults (1995, p.60). Communism is based on a firm belief that fiscal and social equality is the path to an ideal utopian society. Capitalism is based on the principle of individuality, and the exercise of individual rights, freedom, and the liberty to pursue advancement in a competitive free market. Each has shown its strengths and weaknesses. Over the course of time however only one has emerged successfully in the early 21st century, though not without its own egregious faults. Communism has its roots in the philosophy of Marx and Engels. In their Communist Manifesto published in 1848, they laid out the principles of communist society. In Communist society, no private ownership of property is allowed. Property should be shared among the people and likewise the economy. Through economic and social equality, the hope was that individuals would work for the common good of society, and leave the desire for advancement, power and authority behind. Ideal systems do not exist in nature. That statement stands alone as a pillar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Observation Of Solar Eclipses Solar eclipses provide a unique opportunity to observe the sun itself owing to the moon providing a clear view of the solar chromosphere. Observations of the sun during a solar eclipse lead to a variety of discoveries ranging from the discovery of elements to a deeper understanding of solar activities such as coronal mass ejections. The use of equipment in new ways allows scientists to make previously unimaginable discoveries as Pierre Jansen discovered in 1868 while observing the sun. With the knowledge of atomic emission spectroscopy and new instruments Pierre Jansen observed the spectrum of the chromosphere that was briefly visible at the beginning and at the end of totality and saw a bright yellow emission line (Pasachoff, 2009). After further observation without an eclipse he and Norman Lockyer independently confirmed that this line indicated the presence of a new element named helium. Observations of this nature can produce false positives as was the case for coronium. From solar observation green, red, and several fainter emission lines (Pasachoff, 2009) were observed and attributed to an element named coronium. The existence of such an element was later disproved when it was discovered that these lines came from highly ionized states of iron, calcium and nickel (an astro...). Solar observation during an eclipse can also give insight to solar phenomena such as coronal mass ejections, also known as CMEs. CEMs are billion ton clouds of magnetized plasma ejected from ... • 30. What Is The Growth Of Poverty In Canada The article The Growth of Poverty and Social Inequality: Losing Faith in Social Justice by Ann Duffy and Nancy Mandell displayed many important facts about poverty in Canada. I believe the most important information I got from this article is how intersectionality largely effects poverty in Canada. From children to women to disabled, the article showed how each group is more affected by povertythan their counter parts. I believe it is important to acknowledge the different groups and how poverty affects them separately, as well as how poverty affects them when they are intersected. Canada is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, however, many citizens are below the blurred poverty line. (251). The poverty line in Canada is measured by the LICO IAT (boooook) and the MBM (253). The resources for those below the poverty line are very poor; food banks and shelters are unable to uphold the amount of people that are in need of them. (252). Among the poor, many people have paid employment, however, it is not enough. Poverty in Canada is largely based on intersectionality; how different aspects of a person combine to form a... It is hard to think of a solution of poverty that will help people defeat poverty. I believe that if society stopped grouping people into categories such as female, indigenous, disabled, etc. than intersectionality would have less of an effect on poverty then it does now. It is important that intersectionality not have such a powerful affect on people s poverty status because it is unfair to those who are below the poverty line due to these characteristics that are out of their ... • 31. Climate Change And Weather Change Recently, climate change has been a major topic of discussion. As the world decides what actions should be taken to help with the changing climate, severe weather has increased over the past few years. Several factors has created a change in climate but there have been countless effects to Earth because of climate changeand severe weatheris one of those effects. In fact, the first decade of this century (2001 2010) was the hottest decade recorded since reliable records began in the late 1800s (Union of Concerned Scientist, n.d.). The Earth is not only stronger storms such as Hurricane Ivan, Super Typhoon Haiyan, Joplin, MO tornado and tornado super outbreaks, but there also have been severe droughts as well. Climate change is effecting extreme weather because the climate has been changing over the years causing the waters and Earth to become warmer, which is causing extreme weather to become stronger and more severe. Extreme weather can include storms and floods, temperature extremes, droughts and habitat shifting alteration (The Open Standards, n.d.). According to The Open Standards, storms and floods includes thunderstorms, tropical storms, hurricanes and cyclones, tornadoes, hailstorms, ice storms and blizzards, dust storms and erosions of the beaches. Temperature extremes are heat waves, cold spells, oceanic temperature changes and disappearance of glaciers/sea ice. The Open Standards also states that droughts are severe lack of rain and loss of surface water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Palliative Care Is The End Of Life Care Introduction Palliative care is the end of life care that includes a period of time during which an individual copes with his or her declining health from an ultimately terminal illness, through chronic illness (Lubkin Larsen, 2012).Palliative care seeks to prevent and relieve suffering and to support the best possible quality of life for patients and their families regardless of their stage of disease (Holtz, 2012). Additionally, palliative care preserves a patient s quality of life and provides respite for their families. Meanwhile, the aging population faces chronic illnesses with which they will live with for years before their death. Providing cultural insensitive care to the client is also unethical. Since families are responsible for caring for the ill loved one, it becomes ethically important that they are at least aware of an impending death. Clients are also able to receive palliative care in their homes as desired, or in the health care facilities, with effective pain management regimen for the hospice patient. In the United States, it is legally unethical to cause harm to the patients. Whatever country one may originate from, it is imperative that Palliative care is available for comfort measures and to addresses the pain of the dying individual. Principles of Palliative care Palliative care requires effective communication, which is a core skill. The need for establishing trust cannot be overestimated. Consequently, the establishment of a good rapport with the patient and their families is necessary for administering and receiving care in a calm and trusted atmosphere. According to Lubkin Larsen, (2012), the last acts palliative care task force developed five palliative principles of care. These include the integration of these precepts into clinical practice enables clinicians to provide a continuum of care otherwise unavailable to clients with advancing illness and their families. • 33. Heteronormativity In The Classroom Essay Heteronormativity: The adverse aftermath of assumption Heteronormativity. When you announce that word to a group of people, you will most likely be met with blank stares. It may be a bit of a mouthful, but it is a topic becoming more of an issue in our society, and one I wish to acknowledge. To put it simply, heteronormativity is the belief that everyone falls into complementary genders (man and woman to you and me) with roles in life, and within these roles heterosexuality is the only acceptable sexual orientation. This pigeonholing exists in all parts of life, but let us turn our attention to school; that blissful utopia where opinions about what is acceptable begin to form. Allow me, then, to take you back through time to your first day of school: trembling and quivering you sit on a colourful carpet and your teacher begins to read... Once upon a time... ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These stories are patronisingly simplistic: we are indoctrinating these 5 year olds with stereotypes about gender and families. Added to the mix is a lack of female representation as seemingly gender neutral characters (exhibit A: Winnie the Pooh) are almost always presented as male. The books teachers read to children in a classroom should be representative of the world we live in; not everyone will live in a three bedroomed house, daddy in the office; mummy in the kitchen. So why are we telling children, in reading them such stories, that this is the case? Further proof of this lies in the phrase Boys will be boys that I m sure you will all have heard in the classroom, and at home. This originated in the 16th century, a time when gender inequality was rife. So why are we still using it? By using it nowadays we re giving boys to misbehave without consequence and perpetuating outdated expectations of the way boys and girls behave. There must be a reason why 95% of prisoners are adult ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Monsters Inc., as a business company, derives its product from scared children to produce energy. The children, as a source of energy were assigned one employee each called the scarer, and permanently assisted by another employee to handle the technical aspects of the job including recording and the filing of reports. This could affect the output of the company into greater heights and create better products. If not for discoveries, like in this case, research can also help the company perform economically for better results or output. The second element is structure. The movie presented a direct structure from source to extractor to consolidation or reports to management. Even with the discovery of a new energy source, Monsters Inc maintained its operational structure. This is proven to be true in the two poems The Laughing Heart and The Journey . These poems are all about how your inner strength allows you to keep on going, when the going is tough. The poets astutely describes how much it takes to keep going and not give in. The poets do this by using figurative language, tone, and diction. In The Laughing Heart the poet (Charles Bukowski) uses figurative language to embrace the fact that some people try to tempt you to do what they think is best. The poet was being very frank in the way he stated that line. He was describing it that way on purpose so the readers would start out thinking of this being very direct and to the point . Similarly the poet of The Journey set multiple tones which consisted of anxious and hopeful. Towards the beginning she stated their bad advice through the whole house began to tremble and you felt the old tug at your ankles (Oliver 5 9). That statement alone was a major indicator of the tone anxious. It was showing how all the anger and bad advice puts stress on people. But the tone quickly changed towards hopeful when in the lines twelve and thirteen the poet stated But you didn t stop. You knew what you had to do, . It shows that the poet won t be stopped or held back by others who treat her wrong. When Jezak left the company Butler re envisioned, developed, and implemented a plan for Danny s Donuts to include coffee shop edibles and other food faire. Then in 1956 Butler renamed the company to Danny s Coffee Shops and went to a 24/7 operational schedule. To avoid confusion with another Los Angeles based restaurant, Coffee Dan s, Butler changed the name in 1961 to Denny s Coffee Shops.
