Impact of Alcohol Use on American Society Essay
Alcohol is a drug that is classified as a central nervous system depressant. There are three forms of
alcohol, beer, wine and distilled spirits. Alcohol is one of the most commonly used drugs in the
United States and has more adverse effects that most other drugs combined. There are many aspects
to consider when thinking about alcohol as a drug. There are many myths surrounding alcohol,
including who uses it, what its effects are on users, social and sexual situations and the amounts
people drink. The vast majority of the American populationuses alcohol and in many various ways
and this also causes different effects. Alcohol is also has a great causation in crimes committed by
users, social, medical, and educational problems as a result... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A myth that many college age users like to believe is that there are numerous ways we can speed
up the process of becoming sober. These commonly believed methods include, drinking coffee,
taking a cold shower or exercising. There is only one way that a drinker can sober up and that is
to let the liver breakdown the alcohol. This process can differ in people depending on their
individual rate of metabolism, but overall this is a slow process that requires a significant amount
of time and cannot be sped up by outside means. Another commonly accepted myth and one that is
often encouraged is that drinking hard liquor will get you drunk faster than drinking beer. In fact,
the amount of alcohol in one beer is equal to the amount of alcohol in one shot of hard liquor,
(U.S. Department of Health, 1977). Although many of these myths would be beneficial to our
drinking experiences, they are all in fact false and users of alcohol must be aware of them.
Alcohol is one of the most commonly used drugs in the United States today. Sixty three percent of
Americans over the age of 18 said they have consumed alcohol at least once in the past year,
(National, 2001). A survey, conducted by the Core Institute, of 55,026 college students, ranging
from freshmen to seniors to non seeking degree students, from across the United States showed that
84.1% of students consumed alcohol at least once a year and that 72.1% of students

The Christus St. Joseph Hospital s System
CHRISTUS ST. JOSEPH HOSPITAL SYSTEM Christus health, a Catholic health ministry, will
be a leader, a partner and an advocate in the creation of innovative health and wellness solutions
that improve the lives of individuals and communities so that all may experience God s healing
presence and love. This is the mission of Christus St. Joseph Hospital. The Christus health is
unique. We unite fundamentals of Christianity, hospitality and health care with a foundation of
the management and staffing nuts and bolts essential to support our facilities and residences. It
is a fact that our environment is progressively more competitive. It is also a fact that funding
sources and financing are intricate and unpredictable. Financing for organizations is limited, so
new programs and structural modifications to augment operations and stay competitive are
restricted. Additionally, we serve a population, in quest of different stages of health care, and the
very consumers that we seek out to serve are finding it more and harder to pay for the level of
care that they need. So, how can an organization meet cutthroat pressures, progress access for our
residents and their families, and keep the staff working efficiently with smaller number of
resources? The answer to this dilemma is Strategic Planning. Since a person has to deal with
different people in any work, it is imperative that they have a vast knowledge on personality in
order to read the behavior of another person. Personality

What Is Ole Bull s Influence In American Culture
When Norway became independent in 1814, Danish influence was very prevalent. Norway did
not have its own literature, music or arts. Copenhagen was the center of Scandinavian culture;
Norway merely a country cousin. The violinist Ole Bull helped change this. From Egypt to Italy
to the United States, he traveled throughout the world, giving concerts and carrying abroad pride
for his native land. As BjГёrnstjerne BjГёrnson spoke at his grave in 1880: Ole Bull became the
first and the greatest festival in this people s life: he gave us self respect, the greatest gift possible
at the time...
In 1815, at the age of five, Ole Bull s uncle gave him a little violin. He had already shown a love for
music and singing and astonished his uncle by playing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite promises to his father that he would concentrate on his studies, Ole found that music was
more rewarding than studies. He performed with the Oslo orchestra and totally failed his
examinations.
Ole left Norway to begin a serious study of music. After unfulfilling periods in Germany and Paris
he went to Italy where he met with great success. The enthusiasm of the Italians inspired him and
he returned to Paris, where he was invited to appear as a solo performer with the Paris Opera
House one of the most distinguished opera houses of the world. From there he toured Europe and
also the United States.
Wherever he went, he brought with him an air of celebration. His playing was full of energy,
charm, and emotion and he loved to astonish the audience with showy effects, moving his bow
with lighting swiftness and playing all four strings at the same time. He was a great virtuoso and
was said to be the equal of the legendary Italian violinist, Paganini. In addition to being a dazzling
performer, he was also probably the best looking man on any stage at that time. This, combined
with a colorful personality and a strong sense of drama, made him a formidable performer and a

Essay 1 draft 3
A life changing experience
Everyone thinks that a new place or a new identity will jump fast a new life. Caroline Leavitt. My
story starts in the year 2017 when I decided to follow up on my dream and go to a far away land,
called the United States of America. My journey is full of new surprises and discoveries of a
world so different from the one I am leaving behind, with its own beliefs and culture. This is the
story of an eighteen year boy and his first encounter with a new society, his first time away from
home and family. It was not an easy decision moving to a different country, leaving behind
everything and everybody, but I had the anxiety of traveling and seeing this new world that I
had seen only in the movies, the land of Christopher Columbus, where Indians and African
Americans lived unified on a vast territory. I still remember the feeling when my parents said
that we are moving to America. It was the time when I felt everything around the world had been
stopped, and I did not know what I should do next. I was unable to decide whether life was
making me move forward or it would cause me to face more trouble than achievement. I was
amazed by looking at the Diversity of people. I knew that there were drastic changes which
would be arising in my life which I seemed that it was hard to digest, but it seemed that the USA
absorbs everyone in their colors and culture so was I, in the mГ©lange

Analysis Of Adp As A System For Federal Mogul
Analysis of ADP as a HRIS System for Federal Mogul
Now that we have taken a look at the minimum required hardware and software of the ADP
system, let s examine ADP as a Human Resource Information System, or HRIS for short. A great
HRIS system provides critical data about the human resource function of the business as well as
helping to create a follow through on the business s mission and goals. HRIS systems help to reduce
organizational costs by contributing to the efficiency of the human resource management function.
HRIS systems help to automate critical human resource management functions (Chauhan, Sharma,
Tyagi, 2011, p. 58). HRIS systems contain information on employees, job and work conditions,
positions, payroll and benefits, and HR events such as recruitment, training, development,
performance appraisals, and terminations (Chauhan, Sharma, Tyagi, 2011, p. 59). Although ADP
offers all of these features, Federal Mogul utilizes ADP specifically for the payroll and benefits
function.
APD s payroll system is a very complete system that works in conjunction with Federal Mogul s
timekeeping systems. Many Federal Mogul facilities utilize Kronos for attendance and
timekeeping, including the Sparta, MI location where I work. In order for Kronos and ADP to
work together, there is a custom interface as mentioned earlier that extracts the data from Kronos,
and then it is converted into an EPIP file which can ultimately be loaded into ADP to create the
payroll record for each

Just beacuse a man or woman is homesexual doesn t mean they should be treated with hate and
disgusted. A lot of these people are being harassed and threaded just for being who they are. This
doesn t just break legal laws but also moral laws that all people should have treat one another. This
lead to the statement noted earlier, gays are not the problem.
Gays are not the proble! Just because someone is homesexual doesn t mean they act any
different. My question is why do people make such a big deal about this topic. Problems like
global debt and ISIS should be more focused on instead of passing laws that eliminates these
people s freedom.
This laws violates these americans civil rights. We ve seen how much violence people well go
towards to prevent peoples rights. Then same issue was in place during the civil rights movement
of the 60 s. No matter how much time has changed people still hate people just because of they
want to be equal.
In some ways I do know why they believe why gay marriage should not be put into place.
Problem the main reason people don t want this is because it goes against people s beliefs. When
this topic come up the main phrase you will here is the bible hates gays. That s why people hate it
so much, it goes against their

The For Your Child s Winter Essay
You can t miss the nip in the air, and as the year draws to an end, the mercury is going to dip
even further. This also means it s time to pull out all those colourful woollies that have been
languishing in the cupboard, and maybe buy some new ones to stay in sync with the season s
trends. Gone are the days when the over sized woolens came in monotonous and boring winter
shades. Now, you can splurge on colours and watch your child radiate the brightness. Red is big
for girls and boys, and the metallics that lit up the runways in the fall are also gracing kids winter
lines.
When choosing woolens for your child, practicality is of utmost importance. But don t overlook
the fashion angle. Kids, these days, are extremely conscious about what they wear. Here are a few
winter must haves for your child.
1. Just jackets
Your child s winter wardrobe would be incomplete without a warm and colourful jacket. Depending
on where you are stationed, you can opt for a quilt lined jacket, a football jacket, a classic denim
one or the contemporary ones that look more like coats. Cotton, Light and medium poly fill
jackets are in fashion these days, with sweat jackets ruling the fashion scene. Jackets, not only
provide ample warmth, but when zipped right up, take care of the entire upper torso without you
having to worry much. Little girls can add a few frills and flowers to their jackets without thinking
twice. And if it s not too cold, they can even go for chic shrugs.

Hamlet As A Nihilism
William Shakespeare s Hamlet portrays as multitude of ideas, meanings and interpretations. In this
essay, I will focus on analyzing Hamlet through the post modern existential lens of nihilism.
Nihilism has five main types; political, moral, epistemological, cosmic, and existential. Throughout
the course of the play, Hamletshows many characteristics that showcase these principles , such as
apathy and despair. Hamlet is a nihilist character because through his actions of mania and despair
he shows that life is overall meaningless. He also has a lack of respect for authority and a rejection
of moral principles. Throughout the play, Hamlet shows a general disdain of authority figures In
his perspective they, mainly Claudius, do not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet s wants and desires are completely out of joint with the atmosphere of Elsinore (Bloom).
Hamlet s desires do not follow the status quo of the rest of the people in the caste, or even that of
his time. This is because Hamlet has rejected typical principles and made his own. Moral
nihilists refer to ethical values as nothing more than what each individual gives bias or favor to
(Carr). Hamlet s soul is an empty vase that gives place to nothing (Cutrofello). Following his
father s death, Hamlet feels life has little meaning, he feels hopeless and believes there is no
longer any thing good or worth living for in life. As he describes in Act 1, How weary, stale, flat
and unprofitable seem to me all the uses of this world... Tis an unweeded garden... (1:1, lines
136 139). In this line, Hamlet is explaining that comparing life after his father s death to a garden
that is overgrown and dead; unweeded, flat and stale. The last and deepest source only reveals
itself at the point in which all our foundations have been destroyed (Carr). This quote expresses
perfectly what Hamlet is feeling, he lost one of the most important figures to him, which
ultimately caused his madness and insanity later in the play. The source that was revealed after his
foundation, his father, was lost was Hamlet s sense of mortality. Hamlet s sense of his own
mortality can be seen at various points through the play, for example, Hamlet expresses suicidal
tendencies in a famous

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder / Personality?

what point should people be able to conform to the sit, stay, and focus lifestyle before they are

There has been a great deal of studies done in attempts to find the neurobiological brain differences
between normal people and those diagnosed with ADHD. According to MRI and other studies it is
believed that a primary problem area for those with ADHD is the frontal lobe, specifically the
cortex, an area with functions such as attention, concentration, memory, and learning (12). The
frontal lobe is also an area where the neurotransmitter dopamine is synthesized and used. There
seems to be lower levels of dopamine in the frontal lobes of those having ADHD. Another study
shows 48% higher DOPA decarboxylase activity, which breaks down dopamine, in the right
midbrain of those with ADHD (10). Stimulants such as Adderall are thought to increase dopamine
levels in this area of the brain by decreasing re uptake (11). Studies show that 70% 80% of children
with ADHD respond positively to the stimulant medications. Other drugs that have been used to
treat ADHD include antidepressants that have effects on the

Corvus Scavenger
Ravens (Corvus corax) are known to be scavengers and there have been observations that they
may have developed a foraging strategy that involves grey wolves (Canis lupis). Henrich et al.

foraging strategy in order to reduce risk and search time, as well as obtaining mammalian prey
that they would likely never be able to hunt without wolves. A kleptoparasitic relationship means
that ravens steal the prey that the wolves have caught. Hayes et al. (2005) discussed how skillful

Freedom And Liberty In Colin Woodard s American Nations
Colin Woodard s American Nations outlines the eleven contrasting cultures inside the North
American continent. Within these separate cultures are contradicting views regarding freedom and
liberty. Comprehension of the distinctions of these cultures is fundamental when evaluating the

established their political philosophies around the Latin concept of libertas, or liberty. Liberty is

Understanding the Marangoni Effect
To understand the Marangoni effect it is essential to understand Rayleigh BГ©nard instability. The
Rayleigh BГ©nard convection instability occurs in a plane horizontal layer of fluid heated from
the bottom. The fluid develops a regular pattern of convection cells known as BГ©nard cells. The
convection patterns are the most carefully examined example of self organizing nonlinear systems.
Gravity and hence Buoyancy, is the major driving force for the Rayleigh BГ©nard Marangoni
convection instability. The initial movement is the upwelling of lesser density fluidfrom the heated
bottom layer. This upwelling spontaneously organizes into a regular pattern of cells called
BГ©nard cells.
The dimensionless Rayleigh number (RaL), which essentially expresses the balance between
gravity and viscous forces is given by Where,
Tu is the Temperature of the top plate
Tb is the Temperature of the bottom plate
L is the height of the container.
g is the acceleration due to gravity.
ОЅ is the kinematic viscosity.
О± is the Thermal diffusivity
ОІ is the Thermal expansion coefficient
The critical Rayleigh number (RC) is the threshold over which the convection cells appear. RC ~
1100.65 for a Marangoni set up with controlled boundary conditions.
Rayleigh BГ©nard convection experiments used fluids heated from below with a confining plate
on the top surface. In case of BГ©nard Marangoni convection arrangement, the top surface does not
have a confining plate and is free to move and deform.

Negative Effects Of Overfishing
Many people tend to not realize what goes on with the everyday life with oceans. Not just what
occurs in the oceans, but what humans are doing to the oceans. One of the multiple negative
impacts that humans have to the oceans include overfishing. Everyday, fish are caught by the
hundreds because of humans, which plays a major impact on marine life. As the the days, months,
and years go by, marine life within the oceans becomes less healthy due to overfishing by humans.
Overfishing has been occurring for decades and if it continues to happen at such a great rate, fishin
the ocean will become endangered or even extinct. Close to 90 percent of the world s marine fish

Humans continuously eliminate sharks, which are the leading predators of the oceans, at a such

system are being eliminating. Due to the fact that sharks are being killed constantly, its prey are
growing rapidly in population and offsetting marine life (Irish Times). Sharks are very important
within the ocean and are a big part of the ecosystem. Without them, the ecosystem would become
very unbalanced which will happen if overfishing the sharks continues. Not only are sharks being
overfished, but scallops and other shellfish are too. The result of this leads to water quality
suffering (Irish Times). With bad water quality, it makes it harder for all types of marine life to
live their day to day life at full potential health. With humans constantly overfishing, it leads to fish
being either threatened, endangered, or even extinct. Certain species are actually rare now due to
overfishing (Hanson Harding). The fish are not getting the proper amount of time that they need in
order to grow and have babies before they get caught. Not only are that certain kind of

The Value Of Loan Payment Essay
Annuity Due an annuity due in which all the cash flow occurs at the beginning of each period (
Titman et al, 2014,p. 167). Annuity dues are payment such as apartment rent payment at the
beginning of the period. The outstanding of the loan information is helpful beyond the professional
front. The outstanding interestrate can be calculated by using the same formula as a present value
with a slight variation. The present outstanding value of the loan = PMT [1 1/ (1+ annual rate of
interest/m) ^number of years *m / annual rate of interest/m]. Here, m is a number of times
compounding occurred in the year. Note The book Financial management suggests the balance
amount of loan one owes must be equal to the present value of the remaining loan payment (Titman
et all, 2014). The information regarding the calculation of loan and outstanding loan gave us a fair
idea about how the loan financing occur. Another important aspect learned is how the principle and
interest affect the amount of any loan. This knowledge also brought other factors into consideration
such as refinancing mortgage loancost. The refinancing cost involves distinct hidden costs such as
appraisal fee, legal fee, origination fee, and application. Hence, if one plan to refinance the loan by
getting attracted to lower interest rate. The refinance must put some extra moneyaside to pay the
refinancing cost.
Future Value of Annuity payment due PMT [(1+ i) ^n 1 / i] (1+ i).

How To Advertise A Jellyfish
This photo, created by XL Advertising Communication for MEDASSET, or the Mediterranean

plastic bag through the eyes of a sea turtle. The photo depicts an underwater scene filled with two
similar, yet different images. There are jellyfish, which are a seaturtle s favorite snack, and right
beside it is a plastic bag suspended in the water that looks extremely similar to the jellyfish. The
point of this image is to convey that when our used plastic bags find their way to the oceans, it can
potentially harm a sea turtle or another marine animal that mistakes it for food. This poster does an
excellent job of informing viewers, and is an extremely effective

Staying Fat For Sarah Byrnes By Chris Crtucher
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more

Sarah Byrnes by Chris Crtucher, is a Great book that shows a lot of courage by many people and
how some showed courage threw hard times and maybe lacked courage couple times too. But
most importantly Sarah Byrnes shows a remarkable amount of courage. Everyday at school

ugliest girl in school would bring anyone down. But for her it s another way to stay strong and
keep her secrets. Thought the book Sarah experiences a lot of stuff with her scars. We learn that

Art Movements In The Movement Of The Dada Movement
In the 20th century, there were many art movements that influenced the way we produce art and
design to this very day. Along with the movements, there were several artists that contributed to
making these movements great. During the first World War, as a reaction to the chaos and turmoil,
arose a movement called Dada. The movement started in 1916 in ZГјrich, Switzerland and ended in
1924 ( Dada Movement, Artists and Major Works. ). In 1922, Tristan Tarza wrote a piece called
Lecture on Dada . It stated that Nothing is more delightful than to confuse and upset people . He
believed that, like everything in life, Dada is useless (Tarza). This phrase really encapsulates what
Dada was and what it stood for. There is no record of where the... Show more content on

L.H.O.O.Q (fig 3) is a play on the Mona Lisa, crafted in 1919. It is an excellent example of the
mockery to traditional art. The Mona Lisa in his work L.H.O.O.Q. is printed on a postcard,
where then Duchamp drew a mustache and goatee on the painted woman photographed. He then
labeled it L.H.O.O.Q., and it became an iconic piece of Dada work. If someone who is fluent in
the French language and native to the tongue were to pronounce these letters, it would read Elle a
chaud au cul , which can translate to She has a hot arse. ( Dada Movement, Artists and Major
Works. ) Dada was said to be very anti art, so by taking a well known traditional piece from 1517
painted by Leonardo Da Vinci made a huge statement on how Duchamp was throwing away all
traditional practices of what art was before Dada (Flask).
There are also arguments on what the deeper meaning of the title of the work could be, and how
perhaps Duchamp was attempting to make the Mona Lisa even further androgynous (Jack).
Interestingly, Duchamp revised this piece (fig 4) in 1965, and titled it L.H.O.O.Q. Shaved. The
revision of the work is a white sheet of paper with another photograph that seems to be a playing
card of the Mona Lisa, clean shaven placed in the middle of the paper, with the title written
underneath. The MoMA currently has it in their collection, a gift given to the museum from Philip
Johnson (Duchamp).

The Theory Of Moral Theory
In the domain of moral theory there are many approaches to see what a moral action is. The aim
of this paper is to evaluate a moral theory known as Utilitarianism. The idea of Utilitarianism is
summed up in The Principle of Utility or better known as The Greatest Happiness Principle
(Bentham 6). The principle proposes the idea that an action is right if it maximizes pleasure and
minimizes pain to the greatest number of people. Numbers do not dictate the ethicsor morality of an
action. However, is there a way in which this theory could be utilized in minor situations? The
purpose of this paper is to explain Bentham s moral theory as well as to demonstrate why the
theory is impossible to calculate. This essay will also discuss arguments for and against Bentham s
theory in order to demonstrate that it is not applicable to large scale scenarios due to the
complexity of the theory.
The idea of The Greatest Happiness Principle was first developed by Jeremy Bentham. The
principle is focused on the concept of maximizing pleasure and minimizing pain for the greatest
number of people. He intends to determine whether an action is morally right or wrong through the
use of hedonic calculus. Before going forward, it is essential to differentiate the concepts that
Bentham mentions: consequences, calculus, and hedonism. Starting off with consequences it is
relatively straight forward. Bentham s utilitarianism focuses more heavily on the effects rather than
the process. The calculus

15th Century Rafts Research Paper
Remember: Stay in the raft! Louis, a medium built man reminded our tour group as his matted

vacation and an engaged couple who lived just a quarter tank away from the area. Although the

extra luxuries. The Lays Sour Cream Onion chips, the 12 pack of Dr. Pepper, and the first aid kit
were stored in the waterproof compartments with netting (acting as a security blanket) to prevent
items from falling out just in case the raft tipped upside down. This rarely happens though, our

Judges 11 30-31 Analysis
After reading Judges 11:29 40 and Judges 19, women are being portrayed as objects designed to
be used only once and then abandoned. The fact that the strangers lives are worth more than of
their own daughters/wives also makes them objects of hospitality. The friendliness, and
entertainment of guests, visitors or strangers is far more important because women have always
been seen as inferior to men and are therefore seen as objects. As we read the stories, there is no
real sympathy shown in the tone. It just tells the story of these two woman without really focusing
on them. We are not to be impressed by the native men s desire to protect the strangers, even at the

In a way, it can be seen as an objective tone, an unbiased view. We can say that the objective of
these two stories are to show how one has to have faith in the Lord, after seeing how Jephthah
failed to so, and how it is probably better to wait and think before doing something, after seeing
how the Concubine s husband failed to do so. With this, one can say that the tone is objective
because it lacks sympathy towards the women, being able to leave personal judgements aside.
We are not to be impressed by the native men s desire to protect the strangers, even at the

Narrative Essay About Boxing
I was born on a cool winter night in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Before my boxing career started, I
was just another kid trying to find his vocation. Boxing was a big thing in my family. My dad,
my uncles, even my grandfather were all boxer. So, our family had a long legacy of fighting
which was the cause of my father s quick temper. Every night I d stare at the American flag that
hung across my ceiling and think to myself, I need to be great. Considering my situation, boxingis
the only way out of this struggle On my 10th birthday, I woke up determined. I had chosen the
path of boxing and failure wasn t part of my agenda. I put on my fresh new Everlast gloves my
dad had bought me and marched towards the gym. My height wasn t much of an advantage,
there I got the name Little Floyd . I trained day and night, relentlessly and ferociously. I became a
staple at my neighborhood gym which was five doorsteps away from home. I doubled my reps in

Persuasive Essay On Solar Power
Cars flying across the earth s sky and energy that powers our technology drawn from the sun; this
is a futuristic utopia solely depicted in movies in our modern society. Just two years ago the film
Back To The Future, predicted that we would live in a society like this, yet we have not come
even close to what we were shown in the theaters. Why is that? Well, popularity, and innovation are
directly proportional to each other. We tend to improve on things that we use in our everyday lives;
coming out with better phones, faster cars, and more advance military weapons. Going green and
helping the environment seems to be overshadowed in terms of importance due to the lack of
potential profits outweighing that of the former.
Switching to using solar power and helping the planet is a great and efficacious process and
should be come with a reward. In the sunshine state of Florida, we do not have the ability to
power our homes the green way with solar panels unless we connect it to the power grid, and in
addition we are obliged to pay the utility companies for maintenance of them. Solar panels are
already quite costly to install; Now if you live in Florida, you must pay extra fees for backup
power. The main issue is all of the fees from the utility company (on a monthly basis) can turn solar
power from a way to save money and save the environment to be more of a burden, as a
consequence of the extra fees and paper work, which turns a majority of people away. Solar power
is a great way to go green, and this problem should be resolved so all citizens can afford to make
the switch to solar power.
The issue with solar panels is that in certain states it is very costly. So, the benefits of going
completely green and relying on solar energy are not as great. In 2017, one of the biggest problems
facing contemporary society is global warming, which comes primarily from pollution. Pollution
that could be heavily reduced by going green. So, the pressure to go green is on; that being so,
why does the government appear to make going green such a challenge? In an article by Rolf
Priesnitz titled Generating our Own Power he mentions that the government is incentivizing
citizens by giving out loans so that they can afford to go

All great minds think alike, a common cliche we have all heard at some point or another, but is this
true? Well yes, some minds do think alike and, when they organize, we may call them a discourse
community. A discourse community is a specific collective that compares and converses. It is a
thought provoking group that promotes common ideas and benefits its members. Any true
discourse communitycan be identified by six necessary characteristics, as described by Swales.
First, a discourse communityhas a broadly agreed set of common public goals. Second, a discourse
community has mechanisms of intercommunication among its members. Third, a discourse
community uses its participatory mechanisms primarily to provide information and feedback.
Fourth, a discourse community utilizes and hence possesses one or more genres in the

Perhaps, the throat chakra is on multiple locations because the Earth has much to tell us, at this

This chakra is the only one of the Earth Chakras that doesn t subsist on a ley line.
The Great Pyramid
The ancients built the Great Pyramid on the Giza plateau in Egypt because it is the precise center of
the Earth where energy is at its most powerful.
Pyramid energy epitomizes the greater consciousness. Reportedly when standing on top of the
Great Pyramid, people feel an inner tingling and sense the presence of a high energy field. Further,
the Great Pyramid symbolizes the fusion of self and soul.
According to ancient Egyptians, the pyramid shape represents the human body arising and
ascending to the light. This could explain why Egyptians placed their pharaohs in pyramid tombs.
When protГ©gГ©es pursued the Divine within, spiritual initiations were held in the great
pyramids. Within the sacred walls, seekers would experience the process of attaining
enlightenment. Many secrets of realization were lost in time and only scant evidence of the
Egyptian s spiritual practices survived.

Diction And Imagery In The Weary Blues By Langston Hughes

African Americans at that time. It was during the time period of these struggles when the Africans

Lenox Avenue is a street in Harlem, New York; which, at the time, and even currently, do

describes his ebony hands (9). Given the time period, the physical description of the character
allows readers to understand why he d be singing the blues. Emotionally, the man in this poem
seems to be quite lonely. This is demonstrated through the lyrics he sings: Ain t got nobody in all
this world, /Ain t got nobody but ma self (19 20). The diction in these lyrics allows readers to see
that the man feels alone in this world. Furthermore, in the second stanza, he continues his song:

excluding the word I the second time, emphasizes that he is unsatisfied but also suggests that he
is the voice of other African Americans that were dealing with a lifestyle like his. The poem ends
by stating that the man slept like a rock or a man that s dead (35). This simile is significant
because it conveys that the subject is lifeless and supports the ideas that he was singing about. His

Limited Liability Companies
After reading the case of Alex, Bill, Carl, and Devon s business, me being their accountant, a
type of business I would suggest them will be a Liability Limited corporation. Based on their
needs LLC would be a perfect form of business for them. As their company was sole proprietorship
ran by their dad, LLC offers some advantages of a corporation, as well as some advantages of a sole
proprietorship. A limited liability company, commonly called an LLC, is a business structure that
combines the pass through taxation of a partnership or sole proprietorship with the limited
liability of a corporation. (Nolo, 2014, n.a.) The characteristics of LLCs and a partnership
company are somewhat similar as they both provide flexibility to the management and also the
benefit of pass through taxation. The Owners of an LLC are called members. As most states do
not have any limit on ownership, members can be individuals, companies, other LLCs and foreign
individuals. There is no limit on the number of members in LLC. Some LLC also have only one
owner, which is called a single member, and it is allowed in most of the states. Most states do not
restrict ownership, and so members may include individuals, corporations, other LLCs and foreign
entities (irs.gov, 2014)
There are some important factors that Alex, Bill, Carl, Devon and Xavier should know before they

The cat that is lying next to the dying tree has always been associated with witchcraft. It was
believed that witches would shift into a cat or shift their victims into a cat. The staffs that are
scattered on the ground, with two points that look like horns could represent the worship of the
devil. However, the staffs may also be used by the witches to represent a magical wand. The
goats are associated within the pagan world to be used as a sacrifice to their gods. One of the
most recognized item in the portrait that is associated with witchcraft is the cauldron. The cauldron

Symbolism In The Veldt
While money can t buy happiness, it certainly lets you choose your own form of misery (Groucho
Marx). Money and pride are two things can prove extremely destructive to a family s relationship
with each other. The short story, The Veldt effectively demonstrates how so. This story is the first
of an anthropology, The Illustrated Man, written by Ray Bradbury, who is also known for writing
the successful book, The Martian Chronicles . In The Veldt , Bradbury proves the theme that pride
and money should not get in the way of living through the use of symbolism and dialogue.
Bradbury uses symbolism throughout the text. One example is the Happylife Home, a symbol of
the pride and money that ruined the lives of the Hadley family.

Doping And Its Effect On Athletes
Doping has been present in sport since professional competition began and can be traced back to
Ancient Greece. In the last century, doping has escalated as a problem due to physical advantages
it gives athletes and health risks associated with long term use (Derse Wilson, 2001). For doping
prevention to be successful support staff must establish boundaries and understand motives behind
an athletes decision to dope, including ethical considerations. Ethical decision making is the
ability to distinguish morally what is right and wrong (Brand, Melzer, Elbe, 2010). Doping can be
defined as use of a substance or method to enhance appearance and/or performance to gain an
unfair advantage in competitive sport. For a drug to be banned in sport it needs to be evaluated as
being harmful to the human body, have potential to enhance performance, and violate sporting ethics
(Novick Steen, 2014). Social networks within the sporting community have an effect on athletes
perception towards doping, influencing athletes ethical views. Testing systems are used to deter
athletes from doping; however, undesirable attitudes towards testing methods developed by Anti
Doping Personnel (ADP) exist due to inconsistent and unreliable practices. Sporting ethics are
expected to be maintained through excellence, hard work, and fair play ; however disparity exists
towards what is perceived as fair play regarding Performance and Image Enhancing Drugs (PIEDs).

Driving Safety Procedure Essay
Driving Safety Procedure (360 Walk Around)
Between the months of December 2016 and January 2017 driving incidents have slightly increased.
Eighty percent of the incidents were minor fender benders. There are many other reasons that could
potentially contribute to this slight increase of incidents. However, incident free driving requires
100% effort from the drivers and anything less increases the probability of an incident. The safety
team put together new initiatives for vehicles safety. The main purpose is to promote zero accidents
and positively impact behavior change.

Caribbean Green Sea Turtle Research Paper
Our oceans are made of amazing species. Sea turtles are magnificent animals with four limbs
bounded by bony girdles to a column of vertebrae leading to a neck topped by a skull with
movable jaws. Sea turtles are unique because they stand out, present themselves, tolerate some of
our advances, and mysterious as they are, they regularly crawl into our world. Sea turtles are
unique because they have the potential to affect our marine environment in many ways. But many
marine species are severely at risk of extinction. Sea turtles are endangered to live because of the
high amount of garbage in oceans and shore, the chemicals in the oceans, and human unawareness
about the turtles. While the problem of the decline of the sea turtles seems difficult... Show more

Overfishing and nutrient pollution of the seas have brought increasing blooms of jellyfish.
These blooms cause tourist beaches to close, clog cooling intakes at power plants, and burst our
trawl nets, but leatherbacks are loving it. (Our Sea Turtles) A leatherback concentrates in eating
jellies, including the nastier stinging ones. It is unbelievable how this unintended
environmental increase has influenced leatherback numbers. When most of the loggerheads
migrated into the Chesapeake Bay, it was because the food was disappearing and they feasted on
the bay s plenty of horseshoe crabs. Then, this primitive arthropod with no food appeal to
humans suddenly became commercially valuable as bait for eel and whelk traps. (Our Sea
Turtles) As the produce of horseshoe increased, their abundance declined, and loggerhead left
with more desperate to catch blue crabs. Loggerhead was enforced with another diet change
when over harvest in the Chesapeake blue crab fishery condensed this prey item as well.
Loggerhead in the bay became relying on the scavenging for fish bycatch or the dead remnants of
fish discarded by net fishers. (Our Sea Turtles) One of the biggest ecological challenges to sea
turtles in a changing world is where to nest. (Our Sea Turtles) Most of the seas are rising, and the
sea turtle s nests will go away. The

What Is The Loss Of Women s Rights In Afghanistan Essay
In todays society everyone including man and woman can freely enjoy the same rights as
everyone around them. A man is equal to a woman just as much as a woman is equal to a man.
Freedom is taken for granted by almost every citizen. People simply think that because of the way
the American government is structured, people within America will always enjoy freedom. It is
nice to know that one can freely and openly enjoy this freedom of rights within their country
however this is not a reality in some countries. This thought of peace and safety within a country
was similar to that of the women in Afghanistan prior to the Taliban reign, and before the

Because of this strict law that was implemented throughout all of Afghanistan by the Taliban,
women were stripped of any rights or freedoms they enjoyed. This was the fall of women s rights
in Afghanistan and to this day has affected the way that women in Afghanistan live. Woman
during the Taliban control were denied health care, which included healthcare to have children.
This imposed many health problems because women in Afghanistan have on average around 6
children. 30 40% of women s healthcare problems were related to this. The literacy rate of
women in Afghanistan, although never that high, was even lower because women were restricted
from being educated or employed and many of them were forced into prostitution. The women
were banned from leaving the house without either their brother or father present. The were
banned from being involved in politics or public speaking and what we notice most is women
were banned from showing their skin in public which meant they needed to be covered from head
to toe. Women were basically invisible in public life and were prisoners within their own home.

Led Burning Essay
Retrofitting your home with LED Lighting If you re building or renovating and installing new light
fittings, you will no doubt have noticed that almost all new light fittings these days implement
LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). LEDs, unlike the incandescent light bulbs that lit our homes for
almost a century, produce light via a chemical reaction. Incandescent lamps produce light by
passing an electrical current through a wire (tungsten) filament until it heats to high heat and glows
almost white. This is the reason incandescent bulbs produce the warm glow to which we have
become accustomed and, perhaps, even expect in our living areas after dark. A major advantage of
LED lighting is that it takes less energy to create the chemical... Show more content on

Without some ventilation, the small amount of heat produced will be trapped and may cause
the bulb to fail. As with incandescent bulbs, LED bulbs come with different base options. Some
of the most common are: E27 standard screw in fitting B22 standard bayonet fitting E14 small
screw in fitting GU10 two broad pins with flattened ends MR16 two narrow pins The below
chart may help you identify the base fittings you need. Colour Temperature Put simply, colour
temperature is the degree of warmth (yellow redness) of the light emitted from the bulb. The
colour of an incandescent bulb is usually warm white and most LED bulbs do a good job of
reproducing light in this spectrum. Since LEDs don t produce light from heating a filament, they
come in a wide range of other colours. For the home warm white, pure white (similar in colour to
cool white fluorescent tubes), and natural white (somewhere between warm and pure white) are
the commonly found colour temperatures. Which to use is largely a matter of preference. Some
thirty years ago, when I commenced work in the lighting industry, cool white was considered
useful only in commercial premises or certain work areas of the home (i.e. garages, workshops
and laundry rooms). These days cooler colours such as pure white and natural white can bee seen
throughout the home. Personally, I prefer warm white in living areas such as living rooms and
bedrooms. It is

Worm Lab
Introduction Earthworms have light receptors that act like their eyes, and can tell when they are in
the dark versus in the light. Their nerves can detect light, vibrations, and even some tastes, and the
muscles of their bodies make movements in response. They breathe through their skin. Air
dissolves on the mucus of their skin, so they must stay moist to breathe. If worms dry out, they
suffocate. (Journey North,2017) Worms are decomposers and break down the soil. They are
helpful in gardens to mix around the soil. Knowing these facts, this experiment tested their response
to the stimulus of a flashlight. The experiment was ran so there can be a deeper understanding of
how worms are in the wild. Answering questions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We hypothesized that the worms would move faster as the light increased. When looking at the
behavior chart, you can tell that not only they moved slower as the light increased, they also
showed signs of early paralysis. When the light was dark, the first worm moved faster and further
than the rest. Worm #1 stayed with the barrier and wasn t bothered by the light. Worm #2 moved
diagonally from the light as if it were blind. Worm #3 did not move until after 60 seconds. Worm
#4 moved faster towards the 4 inch mark then stopped and turned back to start line. The data
provided shows that the hypothesis was wrong.
Conclusions
Unlike what was predicted, the worms moved slower each time the light power increased. When
the worms were exposed to the bright lights, that replicated the sun. When worms are in the sun for
too long, their skin begins to dry out and they become paralyzed and die. (Journey North, 2017). It
can be theorized that when the worms saw the flashlight, they were stunned, and/ or thought they
were in danger and that is why they moved slower. During the experiment, the light was moved as
to follow the worm, next time the experiment is performed, the light should stay stationary.
Additionally, there needs to be more certainty that a different worm was used in each

The Biological Approach
The main assumption of the biological approach is behaviour and experiences can be explained by
biological changes in the body. This approach focusses on the investigation of the brain, nervous
system and other biological factors such as hormones; whereas the main assumption of the
cognitive approach is that information received from our senses is processed by the brainand that
this processing influences how we behave or at least justifies how we behave the way we do.
Cognitive processes are examples of hypothetical constructs researchers cannot directly observe
processes such as thinking but we can infer what a person is thinking based on how they act
(behavioural patterns). Some key researchers in the biological approach are Maguire et. Al (2000)
Navigation related structural changes in the hippocampi of taxi drivers, and Sperry (1968)
Hemisphere disconnection and unity in consciousness. Some key researchers in the cognitive
approach are Loftus and Palmer (1974) eyewitness testimony and Baron Cohen (1997) Autism.
There are a few similarities between the two approaches, for example the biological approach likes
to use variants of laboratory experiments from quasi (natural) to experiments in highly artificial
settings. This is done so that the researchers can take advantage of the naturally occurring variables
or can change them easily to suit the experiment and control any extraneous or confounding
variables, and can therefore easily establish cause and effect.

Symbolism And Origin Is The Cheshire Cat
For example one character within the story that critics are unsure of his symbolism and origin is
the Cheshire Cat. In the story the Cheshire Cat is a mysterious character. He appeared when he
choose to and disappeared a moment later. He had an odd sense of a personality, but spoke to
Alice using wise words and thoughts. It is not 100% clear why Carroll named this character
Cheshire Cat. To grin like a Cheshire Cat was a common phrase in Carroll s day. Its origin is
unknown, but it may have originated from a sign painter in Cheshire, who painted grinning lions
on the sign boards of inns in the area (Analysis). Even though the Cheshire Cat seemed crazy or
mad he did give Alicea dose of reality in Wonderland. He said things to her such as If you don t
know where you re going, any road will get you there or Every adventure requires a first step .
He had helped Alice realize that in order to find out who she is or where she must go she has to
be brave and take the first step. The Chesire Cat relates to the idea of the child adult conflict that
Alice may be going through because he helps her understand that she has to move forward in
order to find out where to go and if she is not sure what path to take in her life than she has
endless possibilities. The Cheshire Cat was an important character that helped Alice come to her
senses. Aside from the real life symbolism many of the characters possessed, Dodgson s Alice in
Wonderlandseries had a large impact on the music

How Ceramic Cutting Tools Have Been Around For Over 100 Years
David Golding
Term Paper
Mech 4320
Dr. Lewis
Advanced Cutting Materials Ceramic cutting tools have been around for over 100 years. The most
common materials used prior to this were iron and steel. These metals are effective in cutting but
have limitations that ceramics do not. There are many different types of materials used in the
production of ceramic based cutting tools. The production of ceramics have seen various
advancements since its birth, and continues to be more dependable as new technologies are
applied to lower cost and boost efficiency in development. Advanced cutting ceramics is a $30
million (US) industry per the Department of Energy and has seen increased growth in the last 10
years. Alumina (гЂ–AlгЂ—_2 O_3) and Silicon Nitride (гЂ–SiгЂ—_3 N_4) are most commonly
found in a ceramic cutting material. Their attributes differ for their own specific purpose, but they
all have the same core characteristics. They all demonstrate elevated hardness, strength, and thermal
conductivity. Thermal conductivity is one of the main advantages in using ceramics over other
materials. Ceramics can withstand temperatures over 4000℉ in its operation, while Carbide can
only reach 1600℉. Cutting materials at this heat allows for the material being cut to be softened,
allowing for a smoother, easier pass. These high temperatures are unattainable for carbide tools
because they exceed its melting point. Ideal machining temperatures (e.g., 2200В°F for nickel
alloys) can be accommodated by

Indians And Colonists Relations
Reflecting on the colonization of North America is an uneasy topic for most Americans. The
thought of war between the Indians and the early settlers creates an image of clashing cultures
between the well armed Europeans and the hand crafted weaponry of the native Indians. We tend to
have the perception that the early colonists came and quickly took away the land from the Indians
but, in reality, the Europeans did not have this power. Though French explorers and English settlers
had a different perception of land ownership than that of the Native Americans, the fate of the
Europeans rested in the hands of the Indians. Either from self preservation, civility or curiosity,
various American Indian tribes assisted the early European... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Powhatan lacked both the military capability to know the English were coming or to block access
to keep the English from his lands. Faced with the situation at hand, Powhatan sought to take
advantage of the English and make them subordinate to his control. At the time, he was more
concerned with the threat from other native tribes to the west. He also realized the value in having
access to new European technology and he sought to lessen the dangers of an independent power
within his area by limiting their contact with other local tribes. Eventually, this contact led to a
peaceful relationship between the two groups and resulted in the survival of the English settlers in
Jamestown (http://www.virginiaplaces.org/native American/anglopowhatan.html). The Pilgrims
arrived at Plymouth (in present day Massachusetts) in 1620. Chief Massasoit of the Wampanoag
tribe first had contact with Europeans through fishing and trading vessels along the New England
coast. Most encounters with the English were friendly so the Wampanoag had no reason to think
that the Pilgrims, from the Mayflower, were a potential threat to their way of life. Indeed Massasoit
had good reason to hope that the English could benefit his people and help them against their
enemies, the Narragansett (http://www.tolatsga.org/wampa.html). For the first years, the Pilgrims
encountered harsh living conditions and were unprepared for

My Favorite Gemstone
I would have to say my favorite Gemstone is the Opal. I have always loved Gemstones and when
I was about twelve years old I remember looking through a birthstone chart in a magazine and
seeing that my birthday stone was an Opal. I told my grandmother that I wanted a birthstone
necklace for my birthday, but I didn t want the plain old white one, I want the beautiful ruby one
in the picture, after all red is my favorite color and I loved how pretty it sparkled even in the
picture. My grandmother said if I wanted a birthstone necklace that she would get me my actual
birthstone which is Opal, and that I should be proud of that stone because it was special to me
because it s the special stone for a special month. I had no idea what she was... Show more content

I also discovered when learning more about the Opal that it s not actually a mineral like I
previously thought. It is actually classified as a mineraloid and the different stones are usually
contain 6% 10% water, and 97% of all Opals com from Australia.
I found that there is a myth that was in a novel written by Sir Walter Scott, that claimed Opals
were a stone of bad luck, which is completely false. Quite the opposite in fact, Opals are a luck
bringing stone. They are not just the birthstone of October, Opal is also the traditional 14th
wedding anniversary gift, and is said to be represent the God Cupid. This makes perfect sense since
a wedding anniversary represents a couples union and love, and Cupid unites couples and is the
Roman God of love.
Opals are said to contain the energy of all the elements and can be used in almost all magickal
workings. It amplifies the anything that it s used with and can amplify the energy of the person
who wears this stone during magickal workings. Opals have both projective and receptive energies.
Upon further research the Opal is also used to recall past lives. This is a favored stone for opening
the third eye and a lot of people wear Opal jewelery to help facilitate this. Fire Opals are said

  • 2. Impact of Alcohol Use on American Society Essay Alcohol is a drug that is classified as a central nervous system depressant. There are three forms of alcohol, beer, wine and distilled spirits. Alcohol is one of the most commonly used drugs in the United States and has more adverse effects that most other drugs combined. There are many aspects to consider when thinking about alcohol as a drug. There are many myths surrounding alcohol, including who uses it, what its effects are on users, social and sexual situations and the amounts people drink. The vast majority of the American populationuses alcohol and in many various ways and this also causes different effects. Alcohol is also has a great causation in crimes committed by users, social, medical, and educational problems as a result... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A myth that many college age users like to believe is that there are numerous ways we can speed up the process of becoming sober. These commonly believed methods include, drinking coffee, taking a cold shower or exercising. There is only one way that a drinker can sober up and that is to let the liver breakdown the alcohol. This process can differ in people depending on their individual rate of metabolism, but overall this is a slow process that requires a significant amount of time and cannot be sped up by outside means. Another commonly accepted myth and one that is often encouraged is that drinking hard liquor will get you drunk faster than drinking beer. In fact, the amount of alcohol in one beer is equal to the amount of alcohol in one shot of hard liquor, (U.S. Department of Health, 1977). Although many of these myths would be beneficial to our drinking experiences, they are all in fact false and users of alcohol must be aware of them. Alcohol is one of the most commonly used drugs in the United States today. Sixty three percent of Americans over the age of 18 said they have consumed alcohol at least once in the past year, (National, 2001). A survey, conducted by the Core Institute, of 55,026 college students, ranging from freshmen to seniors to non seeking degree students, from across the United States showed that 84.1% of students consumed alcohol at least once a year and that 72.1% of students ... • 3. The Christus St. Joseph Hospital s System CHRISTUS ST. JOSEPH HOSPITAL SYSTEM Christus health, a Catholic health ministry, will be a leader, a partner and an advocate in the creation of innovative health and wellness solutions that improve the lives of individuals and communities so that all may experience God s healing presence and love. This is the mission of Christus St. Joseph Hospital. The Christus health is unique. We unite fundamentals of Christianity, hospitality and health care with a foundation of the management and staffing nuts and bolts essential to support our facilities and residences. It is a fact that our environment is progressively more competitive. It is also a fact that funding sources and financing are intricate and unpredictable. Financing for organizations is limited, so new programs and structural modifications to augment operations and stay competitive are restricted. Additionally, we serve a population, in quest of different stages of health care, and the very consumers that we seek out to serve are finding it more and harder to pay for the level of care that they need. So, how can an organization meet cutthroat pressures, progress access for our residents and their families, and keep the staff working efficiently with smaller number of resources? The answer to this dilemma is Strategic Planning. Since a person has to deal with different people in any work, it is imperative that they have a vast knowledge on personality in order to read the behavior of another person. Personality ... • 4. What Is Ole Bull s Influence In American Culture When Norway became independent in 1814, Danish influence was very prevalent. Norway did not have its own literature, music or arts. Copenhagen was the center of Scandinavian culture; Norway merely a country cousin. The violinist Ole Bull helped change this. From Egypt to Italy to the United States, he traveled throughout the world, giving concerts and carrying abroad pride for his native land. As BjГёrnstjerne BjГёrnson spoke at his grave in 1880: Ole Bull became the first and the greatest festival in this people s life: he gave us self respect, the greatest gift possible at the time... In 1815, at the age of five, Ole Bull s uncle gave him a little violin. He had already shown a love for music and singing and astonished his uncle by playing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite promises to his father that he would concentrate on his studies, Ole found that music was more rewarding than studies. He performed with the Oslo orchestra and totally failed his examinations. Ole left Norway to begin a serious study of music. After unfulfilling periods in Germany and Paris he went to Italy where he met with great success. The enthusiasm of the Italians inspired him and he returned to Paris, where he was invited to appear as a solo performer with the Paris Opera House one of the most distinguished opera houses of the world. From there he toured Europe and also the United States. Wherever he went, he brought with him an air of celebration. His playing was full of energy, charm, and emotion and he loved to astonish the audience with showy effects, moving his bow with lighting swiftness and playing all four strings at the same time. He was a great virtuoso and was said to be the equal of the legendary Italian violinist, Paganini. In addition to being a dazzling performer, he was also probably the best looking man on any stage at that time. This, combined with a colorful personality and a strong sense of drama, made him a formidable performer and a very attractive and exciting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Life Changing Experience Ankit Bhardwaj ENG111 13D Mr. Treanor 10 November 2017 Essay 1 draft 3 A life changing experience Everyone thinks that a new place or a new identity will jump fast a new life. Caroline Leavitt. My story starts in the year 2017 when I decided to follow up on my dream and go to a far away land, called the United States of America. My journey is full of new surprises and discoveries of a world so different from the one I am leaving behind, with its own beliefs and culture. This is the story of an eighteen year boy and his first encounter with a new society, his first time away from home and family. It was not an easy decision moving to a different country, leaving behind everything and everybody, but I had the anxiety of traveling and seeing this new world that I had seen only in the movies, the land of Christopher Columbus, where Indians and African Americans lived unified on a vast territory. I still remember the feeling when my parents said that we are moving to America. It was the time when I felt everything around the world had been stopped, and I did not know what I should do next. I was unable to decide whether life was making me move forward or it would cause me to face more trouble than achievement. I was amazed by looking at the Diversity of people. I knew that there were drastic changes which would be arising in my life which I seemed that it was hard to digest, but it seemed that the USA absorbs everyone in their colors and culture so was I, in the mГ©lange ... • 6. Analysis Of Adp As A System For Federal Mogul Analysis of ADP as a HRIS System for Federal Mogul Now that we have taken a look at the minimum required hardware and software of the ADP system, let s examine ADP as a Human Resource Information System, or HRIS for short. A great HRIS system provides critical data about the human resource function of the business as well as helping to create a follow through on the business s mission and goals. HRIS systems help to reduce organizational costs by contributing to the efficiency of the human resource management function. HRIS systems help to automate critical human resource management functions (Chauhan, Sharma, Tyagi, 2011, p. 58). HRIS systems contain information on employees, job and work conditions, positions, payroll and benefits, and HR events such as recruitment, training, development, performance appraisals, and terminations (Chauhan, Sharma, Tyagi, 2011, p. 59). Although ADP offers all of these features, Federal Mogul utilizes ADP specifically for the payroll and benefits function. APD s payroll system is a very complete system that works in conjunction with Federal Mogul s timekeeping systems. Many Federal Mogul facilities utilize Kronos for attendance and timekeeping, including the Sparta, MI location where I work. In order for Kronos and ADP to work together, there is a custom interface as mentioned earlier that extracts the data from Kronos, and then it is converted into an EPIP file which can ultimately be loaded into ADP to create the payroll record for each ... A lot of these people are being harassed and threaded just for being who they are. This doesn t just break legal laws but also moral laws that all people should have treat one another. This lead to the statement noted earlier, gays are not the problem. Gays are not the proble! Just because someone is homesexual doesn t mean they act any different. My question is why do people make such a big deal about this topic. Problems like global debt and ISIS should be more focused on instead of passing laws that eliminates these people s freedom. This laws violates these americans civil rights. We ve seen how much violence people well go towards to prevent peoples rights. Then same issue was in place during the civil rights movement of the 60 s. No matter how much time has changed people still hate people just because of they want to be equal. In some ways I do know why they believe why gay marriage should not be put into place. Problem the main reason people don t want this is because it goes against people s beliefs. • 8. The For Your Child s Winter Essay You can t miss the nip in the air, and as the year draws to an end, the mercury is going to dip even further. This also means it s time to pull out all those colourful woollies that have been languishing in the cupboard, and maybe buy some new ones to stay in sync with the season s trends. Gone are the days when the over sized woolens came in monotonous and boring winter shades. Now, you can splurge on colours and watch your child radiate the brightness. Red is big for girls and boys, and the metallics that lit up the runways in the fall are also gracing kids winter lines. When choosing woolens for your child, practicality is of utmost importance. But don t overlook the fashion angle. Kids, these days, are extremely conscious about what they wear. Here are a few winter must haves for your child. 1. Just jackets Your child s winter wardrobe would be incomplete without a warm and colourful jacket. Depending on where you are stationed, you can opt for a quilt lined jacket, a football jacket, a classic denim one or the contemporary ones that look more like coats. Cotton, Light and medium poly fill jackets are in fashion these days, with sweat jackets ruling the fashion scene. Jackets, not only provide ample warmth, but when zipped right up, take care of the entire upper torso without you having to worry much. Little girls can add a few frills and flowers to their jackets without thinking twice. And if it s not too cold, they can even go for chic shrugs. Tip: Here s a word ... • 13. Hamlet As A Nihilism William Shakespeare s Hamlet portrays as multitude of ideas, meanings and interpretations. In this essay, I will focus on analyzing Hamlet through the post modern existential lens of nihilism. Nihilism has five main types; political, moral, epistemological, cosmic, and existential. Throughout the course of the play, Hamletshows many characteristics that showcase these principles , such as apathy and despair. Hamlet is a nihilist character because through his actions of mania and despair he shows that life is overall meaningless. Hamlet s wants and desires are completely out of joint with the atmosphere of Elsinore (Bloom). Moral nihilists refer to ethical values as nothing more than what each individual gives bias or favor to (Carr). Hamlet s soul is an empty vase that gives place to nothing (Cutrofello). Following his father s death, Hamlet feels life has little meaning, he feels hopeless and believes there is no longer any thing good or worth living for in life. As he describes in Act 1, How weary, stale, flat and unprofitable seem to me all the uses of this world... Tis an unweeded garden... (1:1, lines 136 139). In this line, Hamlet is explaining that comparing life after his father s death to a garden that is overgrown and dead; unweeded, flat and stale. The last and deepest source only reveals itself at the point in which all our foundations have been destroyed (Carr). This quote expresses perfectly what Hamlet is feeling, he lost one of the most important figures to him, which ultimately caused his madness and insanity later in the play. The source that was revealed after his foundation, his father, was lost was Hamlet s sense of mortality. Hamlet s sense of his own mortality can be seen at various points through the play, for example, Hamlet expresses suicidal tendencies in a famous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There has been a great deal of studies done in attempts to find the neurobiological brain differences between normal people and those diagnosed with ADHD. According to MRI and other studies it is believed that a primary problem area for those with ADHD is the frontal lobe, specifically the cortex, an area with functions such as attention, concentration, memory, and learning (12). The frontal lobe is also an area where the neurotransmitter dopamine is synthesized and used. There seems to be lower levels of dopamine in the frontal lobes of those having ADHD. Another study shows 48% higher DOPA decarboxylase activity, which breaks down dopamine, in the right midbrain of those with ADHD (10). Stimulants such as Adderall are thought to increase dopamine levels in this area of the brain by decreasing re uptake (11). The Rayleigh BГ©nard convection instability occurs in a plane horizontal layer of fluid heated from the bottom. The fluid develops a regular pattern of convection cells known as BГ©nard cells. The convection patterns are the most carefully examined example of self organizing nonlinear systems. Gravity and hence Buoyancy, is the major driving force for the Rayleigh BГ©nard Marangoni convection instability. The initial movement is the upwelling of lesser density fluidfrom the heated bottom layer. This upwelling spontaneously organizes into a regular pattern of cells called BГ©nard cells. The dimensionless Rayleigh number (RaL), which essentially expresses the balance between gravity and viscous forces is given by Where, Tu is the Temperature of the top plate Tb is the Temperature of the bottom plate L is the height of the container. g is the acceleration due to gravity. ОЅ is the kinematic viscosity. О± is the Thermal diffusivity ОІ is the Thermal expansion coefficient The critical Rayleigh number (RC) is the threshold over which the convection cells appear. As the the days, months, and years go by, marine life within the oceans becomes less healthy due to overfishing by humans. Humans continuously eliminate sharks, which are the leading predators of the oceans, at a such fast rate and will cause a trophic cascade. A trophic cascade is when the top predators in any system are being eliminating. Due to the fact that sharks are being killed constantly, its prey are growing rapidly in population and offsetting marine life (Irish Times). The outstanding interestrate can be calculated by using the same formula as a present value with a slight variation. The idea of Utilitarianism is summed up in The Principle of Utility or better known as The Greatest Happiness Principle (Bentham 6). The principle proposes the idea that an action is right if it maximizes pleasure and minimizes pain to the greatest number of people. Numbers do not dictate the ethicsor morality of an action. However, is there a way in which this theory could be utilized in minor situations? The purpose of this paper is to explain Bentham s moral theory as well as to demonstrate why the theory is impossible to calculate. This essay will also discuss arguments for and against Bentham s theory in order to demonstrate that it is not applicable to large scale scenarios due to the complexity of the theory. The idea of The Greatest Happiness Principle was first developed by Jeremy Bentham. The principle is focused on the concept of maximizing pleasure and minimizing pain for the greatest number of people. He intends to determine whether an action is morally right or wrong through the use of hedonic calculus. Before going forward, it is essential to differentiate the concepts that Bentham mentions: consequences, calculus, and hedonism. Starting off with consequences it is relatively straight forward. Persuasive Essay On Solar Power Cars flying across the earth s sky and energy that powers our technology drawn from the sun; this is a futuristic utopia solely depicted in movies in our modern society. Just two years ago the film Back To The Future, predicted that we would live in a society like this, yet we have not come even close to what we were shown in the theaters. Why is that? Well, popularity, and innovation are directly proportional to each other. We tend to improve on things that we use in our everyday lives; coming out with better phones, faster cars, and more advance military weapons. Going green and helping the environment seems to be overshadowed in terms of importance due to the lack of potential profits outweighing that of the former. Switching to using solar power and helping the planet is a great and efficacious process and should be come with a reward. In the sunshine state of Florida, we do not have the ability to power our homes the green way with solar panels unless we connect it to the power grid, and in addition we are obliged to pay the utility companies for maintenance of them. Solar panels are already quite costly to install; Now if you live in Florida, you must pay extra fees for backup power. The main issue is all of the fees from the utility company (on a monthly basis) can turn solar power from a way to save money and save the environment to be more of a burden, as a consequence of the extra fees and paper work, which turns a majority of people away. Solar power is a great way to go green, and this problem should be resolved so all citizens can afford to make the switch to solar power. The issue with solar panels is that in certain states it is very costly. So, the benefits of going completely green and relying on solar energy are not as great. In 2017, one of the biggest problems facing contemporary society is global warming, which comes primarily from pollution. Pollution that could be heavily reduced by going green. This is demonstrated through the lyrics he sings: Ain t got nobody in all this world, /Ain t got nobody but ma self (19 20). The poem ends by stating that the man slept like a rock or a man that s dead (35). In the last century, doping has escalated as a problem due to physical advantages it gives athletes and health risks associated with long term use (Derse Wilson, 2001). For doping prevention to be successful support staff must establish boundaries and understand motives behind an athletes decision to dope, including ethical considerations. Ethical decision making is the ability to distinguish morally what is right and wrong (Brand, Melzer, Elbe, 2010). Doping can be defined as use of a substance or method to enhance appearance and/or performance to gain an unfair advantage in competitive sport. For a drug to be banned in sport it needs to be evaluated as being harmful to the human body, have potential to enhance performance, and violate sporting ethics (Novick Steen, 2014). Social networks within the sporting community have an effect on athletes perception towards doping, influencing athletes ethical views. Testing systems are used to deter athletes from doping; however, undesirable attitudes towards testing methods developed by Anti Doping Personnel (ADP) exist due to inconsistent and unreliable practices. Sporting ethics are expected to be maintained through excellence, hard work, and fair play ; however disparity exists towards what is perceived as fair play regarding Performance and Image Enhancing Drugs (PIEDs). Led Burning Essay Retrofitting your home with LED Lighting If you re building or renovating and installing new light fittings, you will no doubt have noticed that almost all new light fittings these days implement LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). LEDs, unlike the incandescent light bulbs that lit our homes for almost a century, produce light via a chemical reaction. Incandescent lamps produce light by passing an electrical current through a wire (tungsten) filament until it heats to high heat and glows almost white. This is the reason incandescent bulbs produce the warm glow to which we have become accustomed and, perhaps, even expect in our living areas after dark. A major advantage of LED lighting is that it takes less energy to create the chemical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the home warm white, pure white (similar in colour to cool white fluorescent tubes), and natural white (somewhere between warm and pure white) are the commonly found colour temperatures. Which to use is largely a matter of preference. Some thirty years ago, when I commenced work in the lighting industry, cool white was considered useful only in commercial premises or certain work areas of the home (i.e. garages, workshops and laundry rooms). Their nerves can detect light, vibrations, and even some tastes, and the muscles of their bodies make movements in response. They breathe through their skin. Air dissolves on the mucus of their skin, so they must stay moist to breathe. If worms dry out, they suffocate. (Journey North,2017) Worms are decomposers and break down the soil. Worm #2 moved diagonally from the light as if it were blind. Worm #3 did not move until after 60 seconds. Worm #4 moved faster towards the 4 inch mark then stopped and turned back to start line. When the worms were exposed to the bright lights, that replicated the sun. When worms are in the sun for too long, their skin begins to dry out and they become paralyzed and die. This approach focusses on the investigation of the brain, nervous system and other biological factors such as hormones; whereas the main assumption of the cognitive approach is that information received from our senses is processed by the brainand that this processing influences how we behave or at least justifies how we behave the way we do. Cognitive processes are examples of hypothetical constructs researchers cannot directly observe processes such as thinking but we can infer what a person is thinking based on how they act (behavioural patterns). Some key researchers in the biological approach are Maguire et. In the story the Cheshire Cat is a mysterious character. He appeared when he choose to and disappeared a moment later. To grin like a Cheshire Cat was a common phrase in Carroll s day. Its origin is unknown, but it may have originated from a sign painter in Cheshire, who painted grinning lions on the sign boards of inns in the area (Analysis). Even though the Cheshire Cat seemed crazy or mad he did give Alicea dose of reality in Wonderland. The most common materials used prior to this were iron and steel. These metals are effective in cutting but have limitations that ceramics do not. There are many different types of materials used in the production of ceramic based cutting tools. The production of ceramics have seen various advancements since its birth, and continues to be more dependable as new technologies are applied to lower cost and boost efficiency in development. Advanced cutting ceramics is a $30 million (US) industry per the Department of Energy and has seen increased growth in the last 10 years. Alumina (гЂ–AlгЂ—_2 O_3) and Silicon Nitride (гЂ–SiгЂ—_3 N_4) are most commonly found in a ceramic cutting material. Their attributes differ for their own specific purpose, but they all have the same core characteristics. They all demonstrate elevated hardness, strength, and thermal conductivity. Thermal conductivity is one of the main advantages in using ceramics over other materials. Ceramics can withstand temperatures over 4000℉ in its operation, while Carbide can only reach 1600℉. Cutting materials at this heat allows for the material being cut to be softened, allowing for a smoother, easier pass. Though French explorers and English settlers had a different perception of land ownership than that of the Native Americans, the fate of the Europeans rested in the hands of the Indians. Either from self preservation, civility or curiosity, various American Indian tribes assisted the early European... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Powhatan lacked both the military capability to know the English were coming or to block access to keep the English from his lands. Faced with the situation at hand, Powhatan sought to take advantage of the English and make them subordinate to his control. At the time, he was more concerned with the threat from other native tribes to the west. He also realized the value in having access to new European technology and he sought to lessen the dangers of an independent power within his area by limiting their contact with other local tribes. • 55. My Favorite Gemstone I would have to say my favorite Gemstone is the Opal. This makes perfect sense since a wedding anniversary represents a couples union and love, and Cupid unites couples and is the Roman God of love. Opals are said to contain the energy of all the elements and can be used in almost all magickal workings. It amplifies the anything that it s used with and can amplify the energy of the person who wears this stone during magickal workings. Opals have both projective and receptive energies. Upon further research the Opal is also used to recall past lives. This is a favored stone for opening the third eye and a lot of people wear Opal jewelery to help facilitate this.
