Compare And Contrast Hovanness Toumanian Genocide And...
For centuries throughout their cultural history, the Armenian people have been maltreated;
however in this essay, I ll focus solely on the period from 1850 1915, which is just before the
occurrence of the Armenian genocide. The historic Armenian homelands were controlled by two
empires called the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire. The Ottoman Empirewhich controlled
Western Armenia, was home of the Turkish people, whereas the Russian Empire which controlled
Eastern Armenia was ruled by the Russians. As a result, the Western portion of Armenia was
divided into six vilayets called Van, Bitlis, Diyarbakir, Kharpert, Sivas, and Erzurum, while the
remnants of Eastern Armenia was divided into Kars and Yerevan. In account of the factors that led
to this disheartening division of the Armenians fatherland, expatriatism emerged and can be
personified through Armenian works of art such as that of Vahan Tekeyan and Hovanness
Toumanian s writings. In this essay, I will compare Eastern Armenia versus Western Armenia

In Hovanness Toumanian s In the Armenian Mountains he writes, But frequently have the black
hordes of the scorching desert come and struck hard, repeatedly, at our noble caravan, in the
Armenian Mountains, those blood stained mountains. Yet our caravan confused, terrified,
plundered, massacred, and torn asunder, ever bears its innumerable wounds, in the Armenian
Mountains, those mourning mountains (Kudian 3). In this quote, Toumanian applies the phrase
black hordes to symbolize the Soviet Union and Russian Empire who came to battle the Armenians
and conquer the remaining Eastern division of their native land. The author educates the audience
by using symbolism to portray how the Armenians were caught off guard, left for dead, and as a
result their people were being forced to comply with the newly enforced Russian

Schutzstaffel
The Schutzstaffel, better known as the infamous SS, were established by Hitler, to act as
protection force at Hitler s mass meetings in public. Many of these meetings were violent and
ugly, during the Nazis early quest for power. As such it formed part of the Nazi militia, the brown
shirted Sturmabteilung, also better known by the initials SA. Unlike the SA, however, whose
origins derived from the nationalist Freikorps of the post Great War period, the SS owed its
loyalties to Hitler alone and was neither conceived as, nor permitted to become a mass movement.

Himmler s expansion of the SS was based on models from other groups, such as the Knights
Templar and the Italian Blackshirts. According to SS ObergruppenfГјhrer and General of the
Waffen SS, Karl Wolff, it was also based on the model from the Society of Jesus of absolute
obedience to the Pope or in this case Heinrich Himmler. Heinrich Himmler himself though, was a
pale and dull, man. He was a chicken farmer who wore glasses, with receding hair, and whose
disposition was mild mannered and prim. Indeed Himmler resembled nothing like the blond Aryan
superman, who featured so heavily in his outpourings of Nordic supremacy and half baked
mythology. Himmler wanted the uniforms to be more elegant, the black uniforms looked
impressive, its behaviour impeccable, its discipline more strictly enforced than those of the SA. It
was an organisation that actively sought well educated men, University professors, the social elite
within the Nazi Party. This perverted elitism of the SS as created by Himmler that was the core of
the SS, represented by Himmler himself with curious leanings towards Nordic mysticism to such

Dna Replication And The Cell Cycle
Have you ever fell while riding a bicycle? Bobby was riding on his bike down a slope hill when he
suddenly loses control of the bike and runs into a tree. Ow! Bobby falls down his bike and onto the
ground, scraping his knee. About a week later, Bobby s skin is pretty much healed up. How? How
did Bobby s wound heal?
When you get a cut in your skin, your skin cells divide to replace the ones that died from the
injury. An important part of the division of cells is DNAreplication. Without DNA replication, the
new cells wouldn t have DNA. So why is DNA so important? DNA is the basic blueprint of life,
and it serves to tell the cells what to do, and what proteins to code for. Let s take a deeper look
into Bobby s cell to see what fascinating events happens during DNA replication.
DNA Replication The Cell Cycle
Before Bobby s cells enter the the stage of mitosis to divide, it goes through DNA replication.
This process occurs in the nucleus of the cell during the S phase of the interphase of the cell
cycle. The process of DNA replication is important in that it is the instruction manual found in
every cell that serves to regulate your body and its functions. For example, if tells your cells which
proteins to code for.
DNA is replicated so that it can be passed into the daughter cells at the end of mitosis.
Replication Forks and Bubbles
First, let s understand where DNA replication is happening along the DNA. The whole region of
unwound DNA is called the

A church whose pastor and others in leadership have failed to put in place a proactive plan for
discipleship for Believers is usually a growing church growing stagnant, growing cold, growing

The parent or mature Christian is fully engaged in the mission of Jesus Christ. People who are in
this stage are those who are witnessing and discipling others, in the same manner that he or she was
discipled. They are looking out for the immature Christians, and taking them under their wing to
encourage, listen to, and strengthen them to maturity in Christ.
The four spheres of relationships are as follows; the relationship with God, the relationship with
family or home, relationship with church and believers, and the relationship with the world. The
most important sphere is the relationship with God. This sphere or the relationship with God needs
to be vibrant, fresh, and personal. All of the other spheres will work or be in line when our
relationship with God is in line.
The sphere dealing with the home can be taxing at times. The relationship here is much easier
when everyone in the home are Christians. However, if dad is a Christian and mom is not, or
vice versa, or perhaps a child or children surrender their lives to the calling of Jesus, and mom
and dad have not, family relationships and harmony in the home can become much more
difficult. Paul writes about how the relationships in the home should be. He talks about how each
person should deal with the other. The book of Genesis tells us the story of Noah and how he
was a successful father and husband. He was able to reach his entire family for God. It was his
family that was saved

Comparison of the Works of Smith and Morales
A literary comparison of What It s Like to Be a Black Girl by Patricia Smith and Child of the
Americas by Aurora Levins Morales The beauty of any work of Art is the hidden meaning in it,
or to be more accurate the concept or the thought which is the driving force, the main inspiration
for the artist. It is this thought that becomes the back bone of the work of Art, let it be anything
from a Painting, Sculpture, Music, Food and Literature. And since Literature provides us in
some manner the concept or the details of the main subject within its text form, therefore the
interpretation and the recognition of the main theme becomes fairly obvious. For this paper, we
would be considering two works of Literature, one is What it s like to be a Black Girl by Patricia
Smith and the second one being the Child of the Americas by Aurora Levins Morales. Both of
these poems take up the topic of racism and how it is to belong to an American society labeled
as one race or the other. The paper would also see if and how the same subject of racism has been
approached by the two poets in different manner and what their personal feelings are of the
concerned subject. Born in 1955, Patricia Smith poetry is considered as a testament to the power
of words to change lives, (Blue Flower Arts, n.d.). She is a critically acclaimed author of six
poetry volumes and latest work Blood Dazzler which documents the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina

Southern China Research Paper
Southern China is a very different and diverse from America, but why? In this essay I will tell you
how and why the Climate and religion affect food choices and popular foods and table manners.
In Southern China the weather is very humid with up to 75 inches of rain per year. This moist
weather affects the food their by giving the land very fertile soil, witch is perfect for growing
crops. Because of the warm climate the food there can get spoiled very quickly, as a result the
people in south China preserve their vegetables and crops giving the region its sour taste. The
climate in this region is subtropical, which means warm climate almost all year round and basically
no change in seasons. Because of the constant climate, farmers and crop ... Show more content on

Fried rice is a dish in China that can be fried with sauces ( brown rice) or plain (white). Jiaozi is a
classic Chinese dish that is commonly called dumplings and can be steamed, fried, or baked.
Shallow fried Jiaozi is a different type of dumplings that is fried in a pan with oil. Some commonly
used spices is sage and Turmeric root, and a common vegetable is Bok Choy.
And lastly China is known very nice and specific table manners and family rules. In China, a
circle table is better for a family so that the family can see each other better.. The guest of honor
is always seated to the right of the host. Guests are seated after the host s invitation, and it is rude
to seat guests at the place where the dishes are served. At a Chinese dinner, there is large plates of
food that is passed coming counterclockwise, and starts at the host. Once everyone is served the
table may start to eat.
So, after I did all my research I concludes that China is a interesting country with many different
customs than America. Such as, manly only eating plants due to religion. Preserving their foods

Replacing the Police Chief
This case study examines the predicament of a city manager Will Spanning whose selection of a
most experienced and qualified replacement for the chief of police faced stern opposition by a
majority of an agenda seeking city council who had the power to confirm or reject the appointment.
Question 1: What were the advantages and risks involved in pursuing Spanning s recruitment plan?
Spanning s recruitment plan was a thorough, comprehensive, and systematic strategy to procure the
most appropriate and qualified individual for the position of police chief. It was a plan that
provided checks and balances, allotted for contingencies and was multi tier in evaluating each ...

However in this case, there exists a standardized and published code of ethics created by the ICMA
to provide consistency and uniformity with regard to professional local government
management. In an evolving and contradictory political climate such as that which existed in the
town of Dover, the principles expressed in this code of ethics serve as a fair and objective
guideline by which difficult decisions can be based on. Therefore, there should generally not be
circumstances where ethical considerations are sacrificed on the basis of a given individual or
group s perception of the best possible outcome for the community. Much like a constitution, the
ICMA Code of Ethics gives decision makers a tangible reference and provides a scale of ethical
justice on which conflicting opinions can be weighed against each other.

Canterbury to the shrine of Thomas a Becket. These pilgrims include a Knight, his son the Squire,

When the Knight finishes his tale, everybody is pleased with its honorable qualities, but the

Nicholas, a student who lives with John the carpenter and his much younger wife, Alison,

so, and she pulled down her pants so that he could kiss her nether region. The humiliated Absolon

Compare And Contrast The Geography Of The Anasazis
The geography of where the Anasazis lived was raised areas of land with flat tops called
plateaus, different from mountains that have a jagged top. The area where the Toltecs lived was
very similar to the Anasazi. It was semi arid meaning that there was very little rain. The Anasazis
lived on the Colorado Plateau and goes through the four corner regions Arizona, New Mexico,
Utah, and Colorado. For the Anasazis, the summer was very hot, very dry, and it barely rained.
The Toltecs economy depended on agriculture and conquest. They depended on several different
plants and crops to survive, so the Toltecs used beans, squash, and cacti to trade goods with other

Essay on Spirituality in Song of Solomon
Inclusive Spirituality in Song of Solomon
When slaves were brought to America they were taken from all they had known and forced to live
in a land of dark irony that, while promising life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, provided
them with only misery. In a situation such as the one in which the slaves found themselves, many
people would rely on their religion to help them survive. But would slaves be able to find spiritual
comfort within the parameters of a religion that had been passed on to them from the slaveholders?

Perhaps more than even giving the reader a clue about what is to come, Morrison gives readers
this scene in an attempt to pique interest in the meaning of words. Perhaps Morrison is showing
readers that just because a word has meant one thing in the past, it is not precluded from taking on
other meanings as well. For the readers of Song, that is exactly what happens.
In Morrison s story, the name Pilate loses its original meaning of Christ killer and gains the
meaning of one who has control of the direction of her life. Pilate is a seeker. She asks, What do I
need to know to stay alive? and What is true in the world? (149). Dominant culture might only need
to ask about truth. Minority culture asks about survival. Because of her gift for penetrating to the
heart of her own experience, Pilate becomes a person who can guide others.
The most prominent of all the uses of biblical names in the story is the title itself, Song of
Solomon. Throughout the novel, a non minority reader, recalling the biblical Song of Songs or
Song of Solomon as the title is often translated in English Bibles, has the image before them of
sensual love poetry. However, a reader who, because of the title, is expecting a sensual love story
will be wondering how

Casa Valentina By Harvey Fierstein
Casa Valentina by Harvey Fierstein. The play certainly was not what I expected once I saw it
live. Before going to see it and writing this paper, I decided to do some research on both of the
plays to see if I could get a better understanding of them. As a result, I decided on Casa Valentina
because it was about a topic that I was unfamiliar with. The playis set in the early 1960s when men
would go to the Catskill Mountains and escape. But escape what? In this play, they would escape
being men. Seeing the photographic oddness of men being dressed in little neat dresses has
always been a source of comedy and a favorite in theatre. This play is no different. The play was
also a huge success, being nominated for multiple awards, including four Tony s and winning other
awards. With this in mind, I thought I was ready to view the play. What the playwrightwas trying to
say about life is that everyone is different. It raised universal questions of who am I? What is my
identity? To what are the differences in genderidentity and sexual orientation? It truly posed some
fascinating questions about these identities. It even provoked the question of what ensues in
matrimony when one of the partners begins to represent both genders. What happens? Is one
simply cut off? Is there room for them both? It brings out the central conflict of illusion versus
reality in my eyes. This is because these are grown adult men, married with a spouse of the
opposite sex. Yet in spite of all this,

Achilles Themes
The saying nothing can beat the classics is really tested when it comes to the book The Song of
Achilles, written cleverly by Madeline Miller since this book is based on The Iliad, written
approximately 3000 years ago by none other than the great Homer. Like many other great books
reimagined, the story has a couple of changes here and there but Miller focuses rather on a
character that does not get as recognition, is not the strongest fighter in all of Greece, does not have
the brightest mind, but is the Philatos [...] Best of men (Miller 349). In brief, what Patroclus

Dancing With Wolves By Kevin Costner
Dancing with wolves, was directed and starred by Kevin Costner. Originally, this movie was
basically an attempt to show both sides of the Native Americans and the White settlers. It
showed how the Native Americans perceives their insights on how the white settlers coming into
the Western frontier was within the concept of Manifest destiny. The film is narrated from his
point of view by Costner who plays Lieutenant Dunbar. Dunbar takes a risk to do a suicide
charge and while surviving from it he is rewarded a spot on the frontier, which he really wanted
to go see it before it disappears forever. Traveling to find his post he comes upon an abandoned
post, where he resides. When at Fort Sedgewick, Dunbar also befriends a wolf he names Two

a journal like a diary marking his experiences or feelings and taking in all the beauty of the land.
After a while he comes in contact with the the Sioux Indians, which sooner or later gets to know
on a more personal level. Dunbar at first didn t know exactly how to feel but after a few curious
acts upon the native Americans he wasn t afraid of them he only wanted to communicate with

The Pros And Cons Of Private Prisons
Hoarse yelling, officers shouting out orders, threats being passed brazenly between those in power
and those whose power has been stripped away. While this may sound like a line that could be
from a dystopian novel or a story about the a corrupt government and its people in a third world
country, things like this have actually happened in the United States. From the year 1980 to the year
2010 people incarcerated for federal drugcharges increase from 4,749 people to 97,472. While

There are many private prison deals where people have either invested their money into the
prisons or the prison has backed another business or running candidate with the prison s money.
Regardless of which way it goes, both sides usually come out on top with the prisoners losing.
One group even created something called the Prison Divestment Campaign in 2011. The
campaign was formed by several groups working together to try and get investors to pull out of
private prison deals (Magee 49 50). It was easy for them to get scared that other parts of
branches of the government would become privatized seeing as a piece of the judicial branch
already had. The lobbying, however, can be proven especially with recent events. The day
Donald Trump was elected to be the US President stock prices of CCA had risen by 43% and the
stock for the GEO Group had risen by 21%. Just a few day after and the stock had risen above
100% from what it had previously been. During the time of his campaign Donald Trump had

Tennis Ball Investigation
The question I will be testing is, how does the temperature of a tennis ball affect how high it
bounces? Why does this matter? Well it matters because you will know how to get the best results
in playing a tennis match, and instead of wasting a bunch of tennis balls, you will understand why
it will bounce high in some locations and not others instead of thinking you have a bad ball. Plus,
when you are playing a match, you will know how to adjust the amount of force you use on the ball
and how you play the game. Also, this can relate to many other things besides tennisballs. For
example, you can use this in day to day situations, such as the air in your tires. My hypothesis
states: if a tennis ballis colder, then it will have a lower bounce height because the molecules inside
will not expand as much as a hotter climate would, causing the ball to bounce... Show more content

for the tennis balls to attain the temperature, was that they used a table or a piece of furniture to
drop each tennis ball from so that it was fair/accurate each time. Then they recorded these numbers
and did this for many trials. Others did something slightly different. They used four tennis balls,
each going in a different place. They used different temperatures for three of them, which is what
most people did, but then they put the remaining tennis ball into the same warm climate as one of
the other balls but, with no moisture around it. I found this interesting because I forgot that
moisture could have an affect on the bounce height too. Materials that were used for most of these
experiments were very simple. Most of the people used a ruler, tennis balls, a refrigerator, a house

and therefore prove that germs exist. Nowadays, the fact that germs exist is common knowledge
and anybody that doesn t believe that germs exist, and cause illness, might get some funny looks.
(Transition: Finally, let us explore how the Scientific Method is applicable to daily life.)
IV. Fourth Main Point: The Scientific Method can be used in daily life to improve your everyday
problem solving.
A.Subpoint: Using the Scientific Method in daily life is less structured because, for the most part,
you don t have to prove, beyond reasonable doubt, your results to others.
B.Subpoint: The Scientific Method in general use doesn t require consist consideration of each
step, expect maybe in extreme and extra complex situation, but there isn t all that much harm in
glancing over a step.
Example: Deducting the problem with your overheating tracker/car and using the Scientific Method
to draw conclusions, test them, and get results. If you test something and your car continues to
overheat then you ve concluded that it was not the issue. You would then repeat the same process
until you ve reached your solution.

friend over for dinner. Randall White asked Sergeant Major Morris about the Monkey s Paw .
Sergeant Major Morris doesn t really appreciate the fact that Randall White brings up the
Monkey s Paw . The Monkey s Paw was not a blessing, it was a curse. Sergeant Major Morris
tells Randall that the old talisman was cursed by an wise fakir. The Whites do not believe Sergeant
Major Morris one bit. They think he is joking with them, but in reality Sergeant Morris is right all
along. Three men get the chance to grant three wishes, but with every wishthere are consequences
to pay. Sergeant Major Morris and another man received their wishes, but for the first man, death

Even though, Howard Carter visited Tut s tomb before Lord Carnarvon, he lived 16 years after
Lord Carnarvon. A doctor, who further examined King Tut s mummified body, lived to an old

that many people descended on the site each day, so those in charge as well as Richard, came up
with the idea of a curse to keep people away. They even went as far as playing eerie music
because the thought of a curse wasn t working. In the 1970s, a doctor from Cairo by the name of

Disengagement Theory Case Study
In a contemporary social work practice, Mr Anderson report detailed his symptoms which points
towards possibility of early brain damage (dementia), although further investigation is important
for early intervention and to find out what support he and his carer needs. Everyone grieves
differently and Mr Anderson s grieving process could have exacerbated his misuses of alcohol,
isolation and his mutual withdrawer, which reinforces the psychosocial theories; the
disengagement theory, activity theory and continuity theory, however, this log will explore the
disengagement theory and activity theory. Disengagement theory claimed that ageing is
inevitable, it is natural and acceptable for older people to withdraw from the society according to
Cumming Henry, (1961). Drawing from a biological perspective, Mr Anderson s physical energy
has decreased, as older adult energy diminishes as they age; also, his interest in the society has
lessen, he now has fewer interaction. From psychological level, he has been showing less interest
in things that are going on around him and he spend more time looking inward and embracing his

Although, social isolation is a common condition among the older people, which often affect
their wellbeing, health and quality of life (Richard et al. 2009:338). However, the support for
disengagement theory is limited, and it s has been criticised that it lacks empirical supports with
no research base, as many older adults wish to remain active and engaged in their community
activities, therefore social withdrawal doesn t have to be inevitable, it s a process and for some
people its occurs over time and not just at once (Harold

Relationships Between Men and Women in Thoms Hardy s Short Stories
Thomas Hardy was born on June the 2nd, 1848, at Higher Brockhampton in Dorset, a little hamlet,
a few miles from Dorchester. He soon moved to London to study architecture, writing poems and
short stories in his spare time, eventually moving on to do full time writing, abandoning
architecture.
Most of his stories are set in the imagined county of Wessex, which encompasses the counties,
Dorset, Devon, and Cornwall. His novels and short stories all involved several issues; Victorian
relationships and the dynamics of actual relationships between people and Wessex itself. In fact the
details of relationships in his books help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In response Tony just seems to take the compliment (it goes to his head) and charmingly says:
…I never knowed you was so pretty before! The exclamation mark at the end emphasises
the blunt and charming effect of what has just been said, it also leaves us as readers in a strange
place as we cannot tell whether he is joking or being serious. However when she responds
prettier than she [referring to Milly] he has no response. So now the reader knows even more
about the character of Tony; he wasn t being serious before. It also shows us how shallow and
desperate Unity is, as well as showing us Tony Kytes need for a beautiful woman, forgetting the
ideas of love. The final part of this relationship, apparent in all his relationships is his manipulation
and power over her; this is brilliantly shown in the part of the story where he sees his fiancГѓ in
the road ahead:
Unity…will ye lie down in the back part of the wagon and let me cover you over with the
tarpaulin…Do! And I ll think over what we ve said; and perhaps I shall put a loving question

Response To Conflict Research Paper
What is conflict? It is a word commonly used by humans, but some can t even define the word.
Conflict is a battle, fight, or struggle, and there are many ways that humans can respond to it.
However, the most effective way to respond is by compromising. Throughout history, compromise
has saved so many lives, and has kept peaceful relations between people. Even though war is a
terrible thing, there are times when it is necessary to effectively settle disputes, as shown by Elie
Wiesel, who survived a concentration camp, and Winston Churchill, who was struggling to defeat
Nazi Germany. Overall, compromise is the most effective way to respond to conflict.
There are multiple examples throughout history where conflict has had a better effect than ... Show

On the battlefield, soldiers are hurt and killed every day. But, according to the Science Museum,
Soldiers not only suffered on the battlefield. Veterans often needed long term care owing to the
physical and psychological impact of war. Especially in the Vietnam War, since the soldiers
were constantly being attacked, but couldn t see their enemy. This messed with their minds, and
the ones still alive today have never been the same since they got back from Vietnam. War not
only has negative effects on soldiers, but also on the townspeople who live near war. The
Science Museum also writes, Civilians, particularly children, can also suffer the effects of
trauma. Civilians don t only have the constant fear of the war getting too close to them, but also
the fear of bombs and harmful chemicals. Again, in the Vietnam War, US forces used a
chemical called agent orange to destroy the foliage of forests so they could see their enemy
better. This, though, has had a long term effect on everyone who was exposed to the chemical
by giving them radiation poisoning, or in some cases, cancer. Also in the Vietnam War, the US
dropped bombs on North Vietnam, and hit many houses, villages, and fields where the civilians
grew their food. Many people died who weren t even part of the war. It can be very hard for
countries to regain their strength and money once a long war is finished. Take Germany, for
example. After WW1, Germany s economy was very unstable, so the US gave them reparation
loans to rebuilt it. An article written by Wikipedia says, The German Government estimated it had
paid the equivalent of 67.8 billion gold marks in reparations. And they didn t pay it off until 2010!
War has many negative effects, which is why compromising is a better

A Brief Note On Malala Yousafzai And Religious Fanaticism...
History has taught us that strong men rise against religious fanaticism and oppression, however
we rarely hear about women leading the charge for their beliefs and identities. However, when
we heard the news of an incredibly young voice thundering across the world crying out for
attention for her right to an education, a new chapter in history was made. Amazingly, this is
from a region known for religious fanaticism, persecutions and ostracizing for mundane women s
rights. She spoke out for her right to education and go to school without persecution. She
empowered other young girls everywhere to take a stand and fight for the right to be educated.
She is Malala. (Lamb) Malala Yousafzai was born on July 12, 1997 in the residential community
of Mingora in the Swat District of Pakistan. She began composing a website, at the age of 12
under a fictitious name of Gul Makai, where she captured the issues she and her peers were facing
under the regulations of the fundamentalist Taliban rule. In her web journal, she discussed the
perspectives of the Taliban s dictum, and how they were entirely against young girls being taught
or empowered to work alongside men.The Taliban had banned schools for young girls in the Swat
valley of Pakistan. They had foretold everybody about the outcomes of going against their wishes.
If anyone contradicted the rules enforced, the Taliban would not hesitate to execute them. Her blog

Totalitarianism In The Hunger Games
Topic #4 [insert title]
The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins illustrates a dystopian society where the government tries
to apply a perfect society to maintain the power in all of Panem. The author shows an elaborate
and horrifying description of a society not so unlike our own and provides a clear warning about
the danger of governmental control. The government of Panem has a government which controls
everything. The government shows totalitarianism, a post apocalyptic setting, and the world ranks.
These three main points are what shows how the The Hunger Games is a great example of a
dystopian literature.
The Hunger Games promotes the idea of a total government control. The Capitol controls
everything that the twelve districts do. The world of Panem is divided into 12 districts where each
district has its own role to fulfill from luxury to coal mining. Taking the kids from our districts,
forcing them to kill one another while we watch. This is the Capitol s way of reminding us how
totally we are at their mercy (Collins 18). This shows that the districts all pay a yearly sacrifice
to the Capitol in the form of tributes. Another of showing that the Games is a dystopian society
is that any evidence of an act of rebellion will result in the government having to kill anyone who
gets in their way. Look how he take your children and sacrifice them there is nothing you can do. If
you lift a finger, we will destroy every last one of you. Just as we did in District 13 (18).

Pros And Cons Of Welding
Welding process Pros/Cons
The list of welding applications can be quite extensive. For the most part it can be broken down in
three main categories. Arc, Oxyfuel, Resistance, and Solid state welding. And the benefits of
automated welding can be in four main categories. Such benefits include, a decrease in scrap costs,
a decrease in labor costs, improvement on the quality of welds, and increased output of production.
Automated welding offers a more precise and clean weld and the welder given that it is a
machine, does not get tired or worn out and make human errors. With a company that purchases
the welder, over time the automated welder pays for itself and can run for hours on end producing
the same quality of weld and the same speed and pace that it is set for.

It is also the most common form of welding and easily learned. The equipment itself can be carried
into a confined space. The cost of shielding gas is also not required since the flux coating offers the
shielding requirements needed to sustain the arc. This process is also commonly used on most
metals and alloys.
Oxyfuel/Acetylene offers such benefits as not electrodes required for the welding process. It can
be done at all angle and used on thicker materials. The sub category abrasive water jet welding uses
no heat for the process.
Resistance Welding has a high production rate and set speed can be placed for production timing.
It can be easily automated for machines and for the most part it can be economical.
Solid State Welding uses extreme pressure to join two parenting metals together. The bond is free
from defects of the microstructure. It also uses no flux material, shielding gas or filler metals.
Although all forms of welding have their advantages, there are still disadvantages. Each one comes
with a certain downfall.

The Wise Fools of Shakespeare
The Wise Fools of Shakespeare Infirmity that decays the wise doth ever make a better fool
though uttered by one of his own characters Shakespeare does not seem to conform to this ideal.
The fools carved by Shakespeare in his plays showed no resemblance to the mentally and
physically challenged people who were treated as pets and used for amusement during the
medieval period. Rather Shakespeare s fools appear to be in the best of their wits when they are in
possession of the wisest minds. Fools whether in their rustic vigour displaying grotesque humour or
in the forms of the sophisticated court jesters with their polished puns occupied a substantial
position in his plays. Not only they added the element of humour but often alluded a... Show more

However the most mesmerizing of Shakespeare s fools touches his pieces in the form of the
court jesters with their precise and caustic wit fabricated by their well bred minds. These fools it
is often presumed were sketched from the models of the contemporary court jesters particularly
influenced by Tarlton and Armin the royal fools who were not only popular to the audience but
also favorites of the Queen herself. One of the foremost reasons of introduction of these jesters
in his plays was to impart them with the role of social critics in the guise of their iridescent
costumes. The royal fools in spite of their acerbic tongue that blurted out many a comment
against royalty were forgiven for the obvious reasons of those statements being wrapped under
their fooleries. Thus the jesters in his plays acted as the representatives of Shakespeare, through
whom he can show a glimpse of the real face of the contemporary society to his audience. The
first professional fool who made his way into Shakespeare s plays is Touchstone in As you Like
it who is probably the most buoyant of his jesters. From his pert speeches it can be assumed that
he is serving his namesake, a touchstone giving a peek of the real world in mid of all the dreamy
romanticism. In the play upon their arriving

The Importance Of Saying All Lives Matter
I strongly dislike when people lack understanding. When it comes to the Black Lives Matter
movement, why are people quick to raise All Lives Matter ? Instead of trying to understand the
hardship and racism that African Americans face, people are quick to be defensive and assume
that if Black lives matter then all of a sudden now no one elses lives matter. Saying All Lives
Matter is a selfish sentiment showing that people lack a level of compassion when it comes to an
issue that does not address them. I think that this an inhuman and wrong way of thinking. I believe
that having abortions are wrong because that is destroying a life created by God. I think that there

Batman And Beowulf Comparison
In the last 50 years, countless heroes have been created or shown through film. One of the most
interesting, modern, fictional heroes that we have seen is the Batman played by Christian Bale,
otherwise known as the Dark Knight in the Dark Knight series. Even after more than a thousand
years since the creation of the epic poem Beowulf, similar characteristics of the character Beowulf
are still seen in fictional heroes such as Batman. Although on the surface Beowulf and Batman seem
very different, many of their basic characteristics are very similar including their motivation, the
people that doubted them, their love for their homeland, and the personal sacrifices that they made
for the greater good. This juxtaposition is proof that humans throughout history have gone through
the same thought process when creating their heroes.
One of the many similarities between Batman and Beowulf is their origins. Batman and Beowulf
alike were born and raised in the city/kingdom that he aimed to protect. Because of this similarity,

In Batman this is more true than in Beowulf, but nonetheless, the archetype remains strong in both
stories. In Beowulf, only one person, a man named Unferth, seems to truly doubt the hero when he
questions his past successes. This dubious man is soon silenced by a simple conversation where
Beowulf proves him wrong. This aspect of both heroes definitely seems to be more complicated
with Batman. Instead of only one or a few people expressing serious doubt in Batman s ability, it
is almost the entire city that expresses concern. Batman only has a few people that believe in him
including Commissioner Gordon, Batman s butler Alfred, and a few citizens of Gotham. Despite
their differences, Batman and Beowulf both contain one of the key elements in a hero s story;
people who try to pull them down, and the people who express nothing but

A Diary That Affected The World By Anne Frank
Anne Frank wrote a diary that affected the world by showing she was a normal girl who wanted to
be her true self. Her diary was the only place she could really be herself (Frank 1). Anne s dream
was that her diary would one day become a book. She wrote that she wanted to be famous and to
help others. Her influence on World War II was based on her life experiences in hiding, and her
diary.
Frank s life was full of hard times and persecution. She was born on July 12, 1929. She received
her famous diary on her 13th birthday, the same day of her very first diary entry (Frank 1). It
was wartime 1942 in Amsterdam and Adolf Hitler was at his height of power (Byers 36). Hitler
had given Germany the scapegoat they had been looking for: the Jews. World War II was raging
across Europe, making its way toward changing the life of Anne Frank. The Nazis had taken much
of Europe and there was barely a place the Jews could go without fear of being persecuted. The
Nazi special forces, the SS Army, had taken away many of the Jewish families in Amsterdam and
were offering a cash reward to anyone who turned in a Jew. The Nazis isolated the Jews from
daily life: They only allowed the Jews to walk, gave them a curfew, banned them from
swimming and going to the movies, and made them wear a yellow star so they could quickly be
identified. Hitler fanned the flame of an age old prejudice until it exploded into a violent hatred
(Lewis 4). The icing on the cake for the Jews was when Hitler started

The edict proclaimed that people were free to practice any religion of their choosing within the

Constantine and Licinius believed that all religions should be permitted because it was better to

Firstly, the authors of the two documents are very different people. The edict was written by
Constantine and Licinius, two Roman emperors who lived in the 200 s 300 s AD. These
emperors led a very different life compared to the author of the essay, a man name John R.
Knipfing, who lived in the 1800 s 1900 s AD. While the emperors ruled large areas of land,
Knipfing studied history, wrote essays, and taught classes at Ohio State University, where he was
an assistant history professor. Additionally, while the emperors were writing about how the Roman
Empire should be run based on their experiences and beliefs, Knipfing was writing about
something he did not personally experience. Therefore, Knipfing had to write his essay using
evidence uncovered in his research, like the Edict of Milan that the emperors wrote. Knipfing s
essay was based on his understanding of the early 300 s under Constantine s rule, which he
learned about through many primary sources, like the edict. Since Knipfing s writing was based
off of other people s writing, there is a possibility of double bias in this essay, as both Knipfing s
writing may be biased, as well as his sources. In addition, while Constantine and Licinius lived
through what they were writing about, Knipfing s writing took place over 1600 years afterwards.

The Moon Landing Was A Hoax Essay
What if the first moon landing by America was all a hoax? Three American Astronauts named
Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. These men flew on the Apollo 11 and are
famous for being the first men to step on the moon. One of the biggest conspiracy theories is
that the whole 1969 Moon landing was all faked and filmed in a studio in Hollywood, California.
The Moon landing in 1969 supposedly did not happen and there is documentation evidence,
experts testimony, and physical evidence to prove that it did not happen. There is physical
evidence that can prove on how the moon landing is a hoax. One of the popular evidences that it
is a hoax is that in the videos and pictures of the men on the moon, in the distance of space there
is absolutely no stars in sight. The photographs on the moon don t show any stars in the sky, (5
Goofy Moon landing Hoax Theories, 2017 p.30). That is why a lot of people believed this was
faked and filmed in a studio. The second piece of physical evidence is how when they stuck the
American flag in the ground it was waving like there is wind in space. There s no wind on the
moon, so how come the flag was blowing in a breeze? (5 Goofy Moon landing Hoax Theories,
2017 p.30). On the moon there is no atmosphere like here on earth so there can t be any
reasonable explanation as to why the flags moving but NASA has tried. The final part of my

Cigarette smoke is harmful and it contains over 60 known carcinogens particularly polycyclic
aromatic hydrocarbons and nitrosamines. Cytochrome P450 enzymes metabolically activate these
polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and nitrosamines, which can then bind to DNA leading to DNA

of cigarette is likely to get lung cancer, or that person may not cancer at all. Genetic studies have
identified a nicotine dependence locus on chromosome 15q24 25, which includes the О±О±5 О±3

Are Humans Striving To Survive Research Paper
Do humans still strive to survive no matter what the circumstances? Humans have been striving to
survive, pushing themselves to keep going and not give up for many years no matter what the
circumstances. They have faced many obstacles and managed to overcome them. Looking back at
ancient life, humans had to start from the beginning to sustain life. For example, the ancient
Egyptians survived by the technologythey developed. In today s society, we start where our
previous generation ended; causing an exponential growth in terms of technology. Technology is
the key to surviving in this world. Humans learned how to survive in the ancient times by
developing innovative technology, however, it came at a cost. Advancing technology forces

Jim s Lack Of Enthusiasm
Some symptoms include Jim s lack of enthusiasm or interest in activities that previously brought
him satisfaction, such as Jim s excellence in school, as he eventually became uninterested in
attending his college classes. Instead he would watch TV all day and not come out of his room.
He believed he had special powers and that he could control the behavior of the characters on TV
with his mind. As the book describes, this no longer was a feeling but Jim seriously concluded
that he had underwent some type of transformation that gave him the ability to control peoples
behaviors and feelings. This even caused him to stare at people in public to provoke such
reactions. He also concluded that he was God like and contained a life force in his breathing,
which only caused him to breath on people, because he had heard God s angels tell him that he
was now the Messiah. Jim also became paranoid that others were constantly talking about his
powers and trying to take them, which caused him anxiety, and led to him leaving the house less
and less. He also smoked marijuana in large quantities because it reduces oxygen in the breath and
that reduces its effect. When his mother asked how he was, Jim could only mumble about angels
and the life force, out of severe confusion. Jim hardly talked or socialized with anyone, and when
he did, it was only with his family. He did not stick to his prescribed medication, and thus his
hallucinations anxiety, and confusion only increased. These

Native American Sign Language Essay
Native American Sign Language Very basic, elementary and logical characteristics made the Native
American Sign Language the world s most easily learned language. It was America s first and only
universal language. The necessity for intercommunication between Indian tribes having different
vocal speech developed gesturespeech or sign language (Clark; pg. 11). Although there is no
record or era dating the use of sign language, American Indian people have communicated with
Indian Sign Language for thousands of years. The signs illustrated ideas and the language
conveyed a message. Many of the simplistic nonverbal gestures that were used by the Indian tribes
across the United States are still in use around the world today. Most of... Show more content on

Many Indians with college and university training can speak better English than they can sign talk.
Native American Sign Language was the first universal language produced by people. Every record
of the landing of Columbus on North American soil, tells of how he and his group communicated
with the Indians using sign language. The same is also true of other explorers that came to this
country. Lewis and Clark communicated successfully with the tribes of the west during their
exploration efforts. In the 17th century, the language of sign was so well understood throughout the
western part of the country that there was little difficulty in conversations being carried on between
tribes, traders, and mountain men. They could easily communicate with one another, even though
neither understood a word of the other s dialect at that time.
Basic Native American sign language is easy to learn; it is much easier to learn Indian signing than
it is to learn a spoken language. The combination of meaning and movement in signing, allows you
to learn the meaning of a gesture, while you visualize the movement. One important factor to
remember is that eighty five percent of the Native American Sign Language was done with the right
hand; this system kept the communication process very simple
Some very simple signs are easily commandedВ…

Procrastination Essay
Curing ProcrastinationFive
While it is not a life changing syndrome; that is, a diagnosis found in , procrastination is still
pernicious, psychologically. It can create mild symptoms or some that are chronic, even
debilitating. Regardless, procrastination is something that can be played with.
Procrastination is really a form of ambivalence. This is not widely accepted. Ambivalence is when
part of you wants something and part of your doesn t want that something. It doesn t have to be two
things that directly collide. One of the somethings can be related to the other, just not the same,
requiring a choice that is, at least partially, mutually exclusive. Ambivalence can be in our
awareness, partially in awareness or totally out of awareness. This doesn t matter, because the
subjective experience of it is anxiety. This ambivalence aspect actually creates anxiety, but it is of
the kind that is not usually related with other clinical syndromes, proper.
Procrastination happens when these conflicts occur in our lives and we don t want to negotiate
them. For example, I m supposed to finish a paper for school but I want to play video games. I ll
think about the former but want to do the later. The choices are about two things that are relatively

Utilizing text and lecture discuss how archaeology illuminates the period of Jesus birth, life and
death? Include a discussion of the artifacts that help us understand the culture of the time of Jesus;
the possible impact of Sepphoris, and the archaeology of Galilean villages. What conclusions can
we draw regarding archaeological evidence for the figure of Jesus?
There are many aspects of Jesus birth and life that lay hidden within the folds of time, most of
these tend to bring about theories that to some degree cannot be proven or disproven. This
vagueness around the life of Jesus is offset by the works of the gospels in the ... Show more content

The illumination that occurs with the archeological data is a deeper understanding of the
history of those who were like Jesus the lower middle class, not so well off citizens. This deeper
understanding of the way in which life was lived, the structures in which they resided, the
consequences of outside Greco Roman influence, and the overall culture of this place brings into
focus the birth, the life, and the death of Jesus. By understanding that Jesus was as Magness
states, ...Jesus likely was a native Galilean that is, a person of mixed origins whose family had
been Judaized by the Hasmoneans approximately a century before his time, (Magness pg 194).
Which is to say that the fluidity of one culture i.e. Greco roman... would be mixed with those
around the area and created a community of people with beliefs and ways of living that differed
from those outside the communities during this time and were shared like urban centers today, such
as Chicago with a mixture of both standard American culture, outside cultures, and those who dwell
within both. This conclusion can be reached through the explanation of the varying gospel
accounts of the birth of Jesus and both the overt claim and lack of claim to his lineage. Magness

To An Athlete Dying Young Poem Analysis
Death is the cessation of all biological functions of a person or organism. The concept of death is
unique for everyone and depends on an individual s cognitive maturity, but it is most frequented
with a negative connotation. For some people, the reason why death has a negative connotation is
because dying is losing the most valuable thing that exists: life. In actuality, the resistance to deathis
hardwired into the brain as part of the self preservation instinct. In addition, we have the ability to
imagine what does not exist and wonder what comes after death. The combination of self
preservation instinct and the fear of the unknown is what compounds a negative connotation of
death. However, death does not necessarily need to have a negative... Show more content on

Both essay agree that the poem follows an AABB format, making death seem rather peaceful.
According to the essay To an Athlete Dying Young by A. E. Housman , the rhyme scheme
produces a then and now feeling (To an Athlete Dying Young by A. E. Housman, para. 3). The
triumphant procession of the athlete s moment of glory is contrasted with his funeral
procession: To day, the road all runners come / Shoulder high we bring you home, /and set you
at your threshold down, / Townsman of a stiller town (To an Athlete Dying Young Literary
Analysis, para. 2). This is important because it shows the pace of life and life after death. It
shows that life does not stop because of death and those living only care about the dead initially.
Life can erase any evidence of a deceased person s life and thus, it implies the young runner will
not have to witness his fame end, since he died

The Development of DHL s Global Trading and Transportation...
Airline Industry Introduction The announcement today that DHL will be developing a global
trading and transportation hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG) signals a
broader trend of freight forwarders, third party logistics (3PL) providers, and transportation
services organizations to seek greater economies of scale to reduce lag times in supply chains
(Schmidberger, Bals, Hartmann, Jahns, 2009). DHL is building a 180,000 square foot facility
at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport to support large scale express shipment, better
integrate with motor and rail carriers, and increase efficiencies of 3rd party logistics services
across the 220 nations DHL serves (HeraldOnline.com, 2013). The Role of Global Hubs In
Supply Chain and Logistics Services Optimizing the performance of a given logistics network
begins by gaining insights into the specific attributes of a given hub and its related dependencies
over time. Using constraint based modeling many freight forwarders, 3rd party logistics providers
and services providers who rely on multi modal transportation strategies are using hubs to define
optimal freight loads and mode based delivery (Schmidberger, Bals, Hartmann, Jahns, 2009). By
modeling a supply chain to these specific aspects, including the use of hubs to optimize overall
performance, global logistics providers including DHL have the option of further fine tuning each
aspect of their business model, using the aggregation and re routing

In fact the first passage is neutral and suggests only that she is familiar with the New Woman s
insistence on greater freedom and physical activity, attributes which Gail Cunningham mentions in
her discussion:
It was pointed out that women were likely to remain the weaker sex as long as they were encased
in whalebone and confined their physical activity to the decorous movements of the ballroom, and
the new doctrine of hygiene as it was coyly termed advocated sports for women and Rational
Dress. Many young women pedalled their way to undreamt of freedoms on the newly popular
bicycle; petticoats and chaperons were equally inappropriate accompaniments, and could be
discarded in one go.8
Bicycle riding, bloomers, and badminton may have shocked more conservative people in the 1890s,
but they were probably not enough to worry Stoker or his heroine. Nor was the fact that the New
Woman was often a professional woman who chose financial independence and personal fulfilment
as alternatives to marriage and motherhood. Cunningham adds that while these activities were
important aspects of emancipation, they are not, however, responsible for the New Woman s
becoming a symbol of all that was most challenging and dangerous in advanced thinking. The
crucial factor was, inevitably, sex (Cunningham, p. 2).
When it came to sex the New Woman was more frank and open than her predecessors. She felt free

The Man Eaters Of Tsavo Analysis
The Man Eaters of Tsavo, by John Henry Patterson, describes the terrorizing effect of a pair of
man eating lions on a camp of railroad workers in 1898 East Africa. Patterson s memoir
demonstrates the difficulties and influences that imperialistic Great Britain had over the Africans,
and faced many issues while trying to develop the infrastructure of the continent in order to take
advantage of the wealth and natural resources in the interior of Africa.
Throughout the story, Patterson always wanted to be in power which represented how Great
Britain wanted to be the most powerful nation in the old world, especially over all of the other
imperialistic nations. For example, Great Britain judged the African people because they hardly
wore any clothes, but in reality, that was due to the harsh climate they lived in. In addition, Great
Britain wanted to civilize the African peoples because they viewed them as uncivilized, due to their

of Africa because Patterson described all of the unknown landscape that other Europeans never

that disease had stalled them. In addition, many of the British people were not immune to the bugs

Media Bias
The media today has become a topic of concern for many members of the general population. Am

information from this source can be trusted? These are several questions that a particular citizen
might make on a day to day basis, and when the question of bias is thrown into the mix, an
overwhelming feeling of mistrust in our media can ensue. Media sources today are siding more and

Many members of the general public have caught onto the ruse of mass media outlets, and are
starting to not trust them. A Gallup poll from the somewhat recent year of late 2016 has shown
that Americans trust in mass media has fallen to a record setting low. For the general
population, only 32 percent of Americans trusted the media outlets reports with a great deal of
trust or a fair amount of trust . A deeper look into the polling shows that only 14 percent of
population who classify as Republican trust the media a great deal or a fair amount. This could
be due to the bias against Republicans in certain media sources, or it could fall into something
deeper. As for age groups, ages 18 49 have shown 26 percent in the same trust rating, while 50
and older shows 38 percent. The difference in percentages due to age are most likely due to the
technological fluency of younger generations. Better understanding of technology can allow for a

Essay On Australian Identity
Australia has always been centered around diversity and change, specifically with the vast
multiculturalism and migrant culture throughout the nation. The specifics of Identity hold an
important role in shaping our identity as students and as a nation. Australians pride themselves on
being a land of the free and full of diverse culture. This is specifically referred to in our national
Anthem; For those who ve come across the seas, We ve boundless plains to share; With courage let
us all combine, (McCormick, 1984). Displaying Australia s open attitude towards immigrants and
contributes to the diversity present within our society today. Even before this, much of Australia s
Identity was associated with caucasian culture (Originating from British Settlers). Which is the
dominant perception of Australia through the media with australian representation being present
through the stereotypes of Bogans, which was made popular through shows like Kath and Kim
(ABC, 2007). Also, represented through the popular depiction of Australian people the bushman
made popular by movies like Crocodile Dundee (Faiman, 1986) and through famous real life
bushman; Steve Irwin. An important aspect of Australian identity which is consistently neglected
is the culture and representation of the initial owners of the land; the aboriginal people. Throughout
history the constant mistreatment and neglect of the indigenous, has lead to a massive gap in
privilege between the aboriginal people and our

Characteristics Of Aeneas A Hero
Despite his accomplishments and the glory associated with his life, Aeneas only achieves the status
of hero through divine intervention, and this god given position causes him just as much grief as it
does splendor.
What is a hero? We would like to think that a hero is someone who has achieved some fantastic
goal or status, or maybe someone who has accomplished a great task. Heroes find themselves in
situations of great pressure and act with nobility and grace. Though the main character of Virgil s
Aeneid, Aeneas, is such a person, it is not by his own doing. He encounters situations in which
death is near, in which love, hate, peace, and war come together to cause both good and evil. In
these positions he conducts himself with honor, by going along with what the gods want. Only
then goes on to pave the way for the Roman Empire. His deeds, actions, and leadership would never
have come to be if it were not for the gods. The gods took special interest in Aeneas, causing him
misfortune in some cases, giving him assistance in others. On the whole, the gods constantly
provide perfect opportunities for Aeneas to display his heroism. Without them, Aeneas would not be
the hero he is. This gift does not come without a price, though; he must endure the things heroes
endure to become what they are. Despite his accomplishments and the glory associated with his life,
Aeneas only achieves the status of hero through divine intervention, and this god given position
causes him

  • 3. Compare And Contrast Hovanness Toumanian Genocide And... For centuries throughout their cultural history, the Armenian people have been maltreated; however in this essay, I ll focus solely on the period from 1850 1915, which is just before the occurrence of the Armenian genocide. The historic Armenian homelands were controlled by two empires called the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire. The Ottoman Empirewhich controlled Western Armenia, was home of the Turkish people, whereas the Russian Empire which controlled Eastern Armenia was ruled by the Russians. As a result, the Western portion of Armenia was divided into six vilayets called Van, Bitlis, Diyarbakir, Kharpert, Sivas, and Erzurum, while the remnants of Eastern Armenia was divided into Kars and Yerevan. In account of the factors that led to this disheartening division of the Armenians fatherland, expatriatism emerged and can be personified through Armenian works of art such as that of Vahan Tekeyan and Hovanness Toumanian s writings. In this essay, I will compare Eastern Armenia versus Western Armenia through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Hovanness Toumanian s In the Armenian Mountains he writes, But frequently have the black hordes of the scorching desert come and struck hard, repeatedly, at our noble caravan, in the Armenian Mountains, those blood stained mountains. Yet our caravan confused, terrified, plundered, massacred, and torn asunder, ever bears its innumerable wounds, in the Armenian Mountains, those mourning mountains (Kudian 3). In this quote, Toumanian applies the phrase black hordes to symbolize the Soviet Union and Russian Empire who came to battle the Armenians and conquer the remaining Eastern division of their native land. The author educates the audience by using symbolism to portray how the Armenians were caught off guard, left for dead, and as a result their people were being forced to comply with the newly enforced Russian ... • 4. Schutzstaffel The Schutzstaffel, better known as the infamous SS, were established by Hitler, to act as protection force at Hitler s mass meetings in public. Many of these meetings were violent and ugly, during the Nazis early quest for power. As such it formed part of the Nazi militia, the brown shirted Sturmabteilung, also better known by the initials SA. Unlike the SA, however, whose origins derived from the nationalist Freikorps of the post Great War period, the SS owed its loyalties to Hitler alone and was neither conceived as, nor permitted to become a mass movement. Heinrich Himmler who was appointed ReichsfГјhrer SS in 1929 and from its very inception he saw the SS as an elite force, as an elite unit, the party s Praetorian Guard, with all SS personnel selected on the principles of racial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Himmler s expansion of the SS was based on models from other groups, such as the Knights Templar and the Italian Blackshirts. According to SS ObergruppenfГјhrer and General of the Waffen SS, Karl Wolff, it was also based on the model from the Society of Jesus of absolute obedience to the Pope or in this case Heinrich Himmler. Heinrich Himmler himself though, was a pale and dull, man. He was a chicken farmer who wore glasses, with receding hair, and whose disposition was mild mannered and prim. Indeed Himmler resembled nothing like the blond Aryan superman, who featured so heavily in his outpourings of Nordic supremacy and half baked mythology. Himmler wanted the uniforms to be more elegant, the black uniforms looked impressive, its behaviour impeccable, its discipline more strictly enforced than those of the SA. It was an organisation that actively sought well educated men, University professors, the social elite within the Nazi Party. This perverted elitism of the SS as created by Himmler that was the core of the SS, represented by Himmler himself with curious leanings towards Nordic mysticism to such absurd ... • 5. Dna Replication And The Cell Cycle Have you ever fell while riding a bicycle? Bobby was riding on his bike down a slope hill when he suddenly loses control of the bike and runs into a tree. Ow! Bobby falls down his bike and onto the ground, scraping his knee. About a week later, Bobby s skin is pretty much healed up. How? How did Bobby s wound heal? When you get a cut in your skin, your skin cells divide to replace the ones that died from the injury. An important part of the division of cells is DNAreplication. Without DNA replication, the new cells wouldn t have DNA. So why is DNA so important? DNA is the basic blueprint of life, and it serves to tell the cells what to do, and what proteins to code for. Let s take a deeper look into Bobby s cell to see what fascinating events happens during DNA replication. DNA Replication The Cell Cycle Before Bobby s cells enter the the stage of mitosis to divide, it goes through DNA replication. This process occurs in the nucleus of the cell during the S phase of the interphase of the cell cycle. The process of DNA replication is important in that it is the instruction manual found in every cell that serves to regulate your body and its functions. For example, if tells your cells which proteins to code for. DNA is replicated so that it can be passed into the daughter cells at the end of mitosis. Replication Forks and Bubbles First, let s understand where DNA replication is happening along the DNA. The whole region of unwound DNA is called the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The parent or mature Christian is fully engaged in the mission of Jesus Christ. People who are in this stage are those who are witnessing and discipling others, in the same manner that he or she was discipled. They are looking out for the immature Christians, and taking them under their wing to encourage, listen to, and strengthen them to maturity in Christ. The four spheres of relationships are as follows; the relationship with God, the relationship with family or home, relationship with church and believers, and the relationship with the world. The most important sphere is the relationship with God. This sphere or the relationship with God needs to be vibrant, fresh, and personal. All of the other spheres will work or be in line when our relationship with God is in line. The sphere dealing with the home can be taxing at times. The relationship here is much easier when everyone in the home are Christians. However, if dad is a Christian and mom is not, or vice versa, or perhaps a child or children surrender their lives to the calling of Jesus, and mom and dad have not, family relationships and harmony in the home can become much more difficult. Paul writes about how the relationships in the home should be. He talks about how each person should deal with the other. The book of Genesis tells us the story of Noah and how he was a successful father and husband. He was able to reach his entire family for God. It was his family that was saved ... • 7. Comparison of the Works of Smith and Morales A literary comparison of What It s Like to Be a Black Girl by Patricia Smith and Child of the Americas by Aurora Levins Morales The beauty of any work of Art is the hidden meaning in it, or to be more accurate the concept or the thought which is the driving force, the main inspiration for the artist. It is this thought that becomes the back bone of the work of Art, let it be anything from a Painting, Sculpture, Music, Food and Literature. And since Literature provides us in some manner the concept or the details of the main subject within its text form, therefore the interpretation and the recognition of the main theme becomes fairly obvious. For this paper, we would be considering two works of Literature, one is What it s like to be a Black Girl by Patricia Smith and the second one being the Child of the Americas by Aurora Levins Morales. Both of these poems take up the topic of racism and how it is to belong to an American society labeled as one race or the other. The paper would also see if and how the same subject of racism has been approached by the two poets in different manner and what their personal feelings are of the concerned subject. Born in 1955, Patricia Smith poetry is considered as a testament to the power of words to change lives, (Blue Flower Arts, n.d.). Therefore, there should generally not be circumstances where ethical considerations are sacrificed on the basis of a given individual or group s perception of the best possible outcome for the community. When the Knight finishes his tale, everybody is pleased with its honorable qualities, but the drunken Miller insists that he shall tell the next tale. The Miller s Tale is a comic table in which Nicholas, a student who lives with John the carpenter and his much younger wife, Alison, begins an affair with Alison. Another man, the courtly romantic Absolon, also falls in love with Alison. Nicholas contrives to spend a day with Alison by telling John that a flood equal to Noah s flood will come soon, and the only way that he, Nicholas and Alison will survive is by staying in separate kneading tubs placed on the roof of houses, out of sight of all. While John remained in this kneading tub, Nicholas and Alison left to have sex, but were interrupted by Absolon, who demanded a kiss from Alison. She told him to close his eyes and he would receive a kiss. He did so, and she pulled down her pants so that he could kiss her nether region. Essay on Spirituality in Song of Solomon Inclusive Spirituality in Song of Solomon When slaves were brought to America they were taken from all they had known and forced to live in a land of dark irony that, while promising life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, provided them with only misery. In a situation such as the one in which the slaves found themselves, many people would rely on their religion to help them survive. But would slaves be able to find spiritual comfort within the parameters of a religion that had been passed on to them from the slaveholders? In Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon, African Americans struggle to find a spirituality that is responsive to their needs and that encompasses their experiences in a way that the religion of the dominant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps more than even giving the reader a clue about what is to come, Morrison gives readers this scene in an attempt to pique interest in the meaning of words. Perhaps Morrison is showing readers that just because a word has meant one thing in the past, it is not precluded from taking on other meanings as well. For the readers of Song, that is exactly what happens. In Morrison s story, the name Pilate loses its original meaning of Christ killer and gains the meaning of one who has control of the direction of her life. Pilate is a seeker. She asks, What do I need to know to stay alive? and What is true in the world? (149). Dominant culture might only need to ask about truth. Minority culture asks about survival. Because of her gift for penetrating to the heart of her own experience, Pilate becomes a person who can guide others. The most prominent of all the uses of biblical names in the story is the title itself, Song of Solomon. • 13. Casa Valentina By Harvey Fierstein Casa Valentina by Harvey Fierstein. The play certainly was not what I expected once I saw it live. Before going to see it and writing this paper, I decided to do some research on both of the plays to see if I could get a better understanding of them. As a result, I decided on Casa Valentina because it was about a topic that I was unfamiliar with. The playis set in the early 1960s when men would go to the Catskill Mountains and escape. But escape what? In this play, they would escape being men. Seeing the photographic oddness of men being dressed in little neat dresses has always been a source of comedy and a favorite in theatre. This play is no different. The play was also a huge success, being nominated for multiple awards, including four Tony s and winning other awards. With this in mind, I thought I was ready to view the play. What the playwrightwas trying to say about life is that everyone is different. It raised universal questions of who am I? What is my identity? To what are the differences in genderidentity and sexual orientation? It truly posed some fascinating questions about these identities. It even provoked the question of what ensues in matrimony when one of the partners begins to represent both genders. What happens? Is one simply cut off? Is there room for them both? It brings out the central conflict of illusion versus reality in my eyes. This is because these are grown adult men, married with a spouse of the opposite sex. Yet in spite of all this, ... Well it matters because you will know how to get the best results in playing a tennis match, and instead of wasting a bunch of tennis balls, you will understand why it will bounce high in some locations and not others instead of thinking you have a bad ball. Plus, when you are playing a match, you will know how to adjust the amount of force you use on the ball and how you play the game. Also, this can relate to many other things besides tennisballs. For example, you can use this in day to day situations, such as the air in your tires. This messed with their minds, and the ones still alive today have never been the same since they got back from Vietnam. Totalitarianism In The Hunger Games Topic #4 [insert title] The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins illustrates a dystopian society where the government tries to apply a perfect society to maintain the power in all of Panem. The author shows an elaborate and horrifying description of a society not so unlike our own and provides a clear warning about the danger of governmental control. The government of Panem has a government which controls everything. The government shows totalitarianism, a post apocalyptic setting, and the world ranks. These three main points are what shows how the The Hunger Games is a great example of a dystopian literature. The Hunger Games promotes the idea of a total government control. The Capitol controls everything that the twelve districts do. The world of Panem is divided into 12 districts where each district has its own role to fulfill from luxury to coal mining. Taking the kids from our districts, forcing them to kill one another while we watch. This is the Capitol s way of reminding us how totally we are at their mercy (Collins 18). This shows that the districts all pay a yearly sacrifice to the Capitol in the form of tributes. Another of showing that the Games is a dystopian society is that any evidence of an act of rebellion will result in the government having to kill anyone who gets in their way. Look how he take your children and sacrifice them there is nothing you can do. If you lift a finger, we will destroy every last one of you. Just as we did in District 13 (18). ... In Beowulf, only one person, a man named Unferth, seems to truly doubt the hero when he questions his past successes. This dubious man is soon silenced by a simple conversation where Beowulf proves him wrong. This aspect of both heroes definitely seems to be more complicated with Batman. Instead of only one or a few people expressing serious doubt in Batman s ability, it is almost the entire city that expresses concern. Batman only has a few people that believe in him including Commissioner Gordon, Batman s butler Alfred, and a few citizens of Gotham. Her diary was the only place she could really be herself (Frank 1). Anne s dream was that her diary would one day become a book. She wrote that she wanted to be famous and to help others. Her influence on World War II was based on her life experiences in hiding, and her diary. Frank s life was full of hard times and persecution. She was born on July 12, 1929. She received her famous diary on her 13th birthday, the same day of her very first diary entry (Frank 1). It was wartime 1942 in Amsterdam and Adolf Hitler was at his height of power (Byers 36). Hitler had given Germany the scapegoat they had been looking for: the Jews. World War II was raging across Europe, making its way toward changing the life of Anne Frank. The Nazis had taken much of Europe and there was barely a place the Jews could go without fear of being persecuted. The Nazi special forces, the SS Army, had taken away many of the Jewish families in Amsterdam and were offering a cash reward to anyone who turned in a Jew. The Nazis isolated the Jews from daily life: They only allowed the Jews to walk, gave them a curfew, banned them from swimming and going to the movies, and made them wear a yellow star so they could quickly be identified. Hitler fanned the flame of an age old prejudice until it exploded into a violent hatred (Lewis 4). The icing on the cake for the Jews was when Hitler started ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Knipfing, who lived in the 1800 s 1900 s AD. While the emperors ruled large areas of land, Knipfing studied history, wrote essays, and taught classes at Ohio State University, where he was an assistant history professor. Additionally, while the emperors were writing about how the Roman Empire should be run based on their experiences and beliefs, Knipfing was writing about something he did not personally experience. Therefore, Knipfing had to write his essay using evidence uncovered in his research, like the Edict of Milan that the emperors wrote. Knipfing s essay was based on his understanding of the early 300 s under Constantine s rule, which he learned about through many primary sources, like the edict. Since Knipfing s writing was based off of other people s writing, there is a possibility of double bias in this essay, as both Knipfing s writing may be biased, as well as his sources. These men flew on the Apollo 11 and are famous for being the first men to step on the moon. One of the biggest conspiracy theories is that the whole 1969 Moon landing was all faked and filmed in a studio in Hollywood, California. The Moon landing in 1969 supposedly did not happen and there is documentation evidence, experts testimony, and physical evidence to prove that it did not happen. There is physical evidence that can prove on how the moon landing is a hoax. The photographs on the moon don t show any stars in the sky, (5 Goofy Moon landing Hoax Theories, 2017 p.30). That is why a lot of people believed this was faked and filmed in a studio. There s no wind on the moon, so how come the flag was blowing in a breeze? (5 Goofy Moon landing Hoax Theories, 2017 p.30).
