Unlocking the Future of AI Agents with Large Language Models
Simpleware for Automotive Engineering
1. From Image to Model in Minutes
Simpleware software offers an intuitive
interface for processing 3D image datasets.
Import image data for segmentation,
measurement, processing and export
as surface models for CAD and Additive
Manufacturing, or generate volumetric
meshes for FEA and CFD. Find tools quickly
and easily with a ribbon design and make use
of easy-to-follow tutorials and full technical
support when learning the software.
Industry-Leading Meshing
Simpleware software uses proprietary
meshing algorithms that ensure conforming
interfaces and shared nodes for FE and CFD
models. Material properties, FE node sets
and shells and CFD boundary conditions can
also be added to meshes prior to export.
Mesh inspection options and the ability
to export directly to leading FE and CFD
packages enable a rapid transition between
scan data and simulation.
Simpleware provides industry-leading software for processing 3D image data for
automotive research. The software can import and process images from scan modalities
such as CT, mCT, SEM and serial sectioning. Data can be measured, quantified and
segmented prior to export for Computer-aided Design (CAD), Computer-aided
Engineering (CAE) and Additive Manufacturing (AM). Simpleware software is used in the
automotive industry for a wide range of applications where realistic simulation is key.
These areas include: non-destructive evaluation of components, reverse engineering of
legacy parts, materials characterisation, and human body modelling for crash simulation.

Key Features and Benefits
SIMPLEWARE FOR
AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING
2. The software can be used to generate high-quality CAE models of
the human body from scan data, which can also be integrated with
CAD objects. Options are also available for selecting simulation-
ready models from our sister website www.humanbodymodels.com.
Anatomic models are suitable for crash simulation and for analysing
how the body interacts with seatbelts and other products.
»» Options to generate models from own data or to select
from existing model library
»» Obtain models with multiple conforming parts for simulation
»» Define material properties and FE and CFD information
»» Integrate CAD objects and image-based models
Simpleware software is able to generate 3D models from scan data
suitable for characterising the internal architectures and mechanical
properties of composite materials. Data from a range of micro and
nano-scale modalities can be imported and processed in the software,
with options available to segment regions of interest, quantify porosity
andhomogenisematerialproperties.MeshescanbeexportedforFEand
CFD characterisation of properties such as stiffness and permeability.
»» Work with micro and nano-scale data (micro-CT, FIB-SEM…)
»» Visualise and quantify composite material samples
(fuel cells, batteries…)
»» Calculate effective material properties
(electrical conductivity/permittivity; absolute permeability…)
»» Export multiphase FE and CFD meshes
Simpleware software can reverse engineer legacy parts from scan
data for inspection and/or export to CAE packages. This approach
has benefits for aftermarket suppliers providing substitutes for OEM
counterparts, and for OEMs wanting to rapidly and accurately reverse
engineer legacy parts. Scans of parts can be visualised, segmented,
quantified and exported for Additive Manufacturing (AM) or exported
as multi-part FE/CFD meshes. Internal lattice structures can also be
added to parts to reduce weight prior to AM.
»» Fast and easy conversion of 3D images into models
»» Preserve and model internal features of structures
»» Generate robust multi-part meshes
»» Export for simulation
The software enables 3D models of parts to be generated from scan
data for non-destructive evaluation. Inspect defects and changes
in density, and employ powerful segmentation tools and filters to
identify regions of interest. Models can be exported as NURBS for
CAD, or as FE and CFD models for analysis of the effects of cracks or
porosity on parts.
»» Render image data in 3D directly after import
»» Segment data using range of automated and semi-automated tools
»» Measure pore and fracture dimensions
»» Quantify internal volumes, cracks, corrosion and porosity
»» Record animations to clearly illustrate your findings to colleagues
