A Brief Note On Death By Social Media
Death by social media. Social media, for most of world, was introduced with MySpace. They could
reconnect with people they had lost touch with over the years and really share their day to day lives
with each other. Social media was the beginning of a new era. As social media grew and continues to
grow today the world is reaping the benefits. With many websites and smart phone apps, it is an
important communication tool used all over the world. However beneficial, social media is extremely
flawed. The world is seeing a loss in productivity and vital communication skills needed for day to
day life. People all over the world are less productive since social media hit the big time. Lost
productivity effects their personal lives, work lives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has happened to me one too many times at home. Instead of taking care of the pool or the lawn I
was too busy telling people that I was going to do it. Most people, including myself, will say they are
going to do something, wait for a bit of recognition and that gratification is enough to make them feel
as good as if they had done the activity. They end up feeling great about their hard work but in reality
none of the work has been done. Social media is used for just about everything so it is no surprise it is
seen in the work place. Many businesses use social media to promote their work and bring in revenue.
But social media in the work place does not end there. Employees will push the envelope and see what
they can get away with. I once worked in a factory, in an area by myself and I knew I could have my
cell phone out. With that came the temptation to socialize, via social networking. It was so bad at one
point that I spent over an hour using social media without realizing. This type of behavior led to
questions as to why my work was not done in a timely manner. Companies are losing money and
valuable time because of the craze that is social media. Education is also suffering because of social
media. Students everywhere, especially the younger generations, are extremely involved with social
networking. When I was in high school I was involved in about twelve

Malcolm Gladwell Factors Of Success Analysis

Malcolm Gladwell said: Practice isn t the thing you do once you re good. It s the thing you do that
makes you good. Journalist and author, Malcolm Gladwell is best known for writing The Outliers, a
book which challenges readers definitions of success by claiming special chances, hidden potentials,
and cultural legacies lead to success. He asserts that if you work hard enough, assert yourself, and use
your mind and imagination, you can shape the world to your desires. (Gladwell, 2013) The first
relevant example is Bill Joy and Bill Gates and their I.T. success. Second, the Beatles, a group of
musicians, used their minds and imaginations to challenge the music industry. Lastly, some

Second Punic War Essay
The outcome of the second Punic War turned Rome into the single most powerful force in the western
Mediterranean. Indirectly, it also forced Rome to grow politically and militarily as it learned to deal
with acquisitions and powerful opponents beyond the Italian peninsula.
Direct Consequence of the Second Punic War (218 201)
(Morey, 1901a, Par. Battle of Zama and End of the War)
1. Carthage became a dependent state, loosing it s right to declare war without permission of Rome.
2. Carthage lost all lands in Spain, and was split up into the two Roman provinces of Hither and
Farther Spain which was then governed by a Roman praetor.
3. Carthage lost claim to all Mediterranean islands between Carthage and Italy.
4. Carthage was saddled with tribute of 200 talents payable for fifty fifty.
5. Masinissa was recognized as King of Numidia, and became a staunch ally of Rome.
6. Syracuse lost it s independence, and became a part of the Sicilian province.
Indirect Impacts of the War
Military Advances
Rome gained a brilliant General by the name of Publius Scipio Africanus, who who subdued Spain,
and changed the Roman Strategies by attacking Carthage directly, thus forcing Hannibal (an offensive
genius) to return to Africa and fight a defense war (Morey ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Masinissa, Scipio gained the Numidians as allies in defeating Carthage and became Romes
staunchest allies in Africa (Morey 1901a, par The War carried into Africa). Macedonian, however,
exposed herself as an enemy to be dealt with in future campaigns (Morey, 1901a, Par. Hannibal s New
Allies). A peripheral threat, not immediately identified, was the influx of slaves, which would later
spawn a revolt in Sicily (Morey, 1901a, Par. The Servile War in Sicily). Finally, a pattern of punishing
disloyal states such as Capua (Morey, 1901a, Par. Recovery of Capua), was established, which would

Iran, Iran And Concessions, Mid 19th Century And 20th Century
Spring 15
Iran and Concessions, mid 19th to early 20th Century, the Catalysts of Change Throughout the 19th
and 20th century Iran saw not only the changing of three regimes, but also the coming, and going of
classical imperialists in Britain and Russia, but also late comers to the game in the United States. In
each instance however, Iran was on a road to appeasement. In some instances such as with the Qajar s,
Iran s Imperial family was trying to get more money for the betterment of itself. In the event of the
Pahlavi s, Iran was trying to modernize based off of a western model of success. In both instances the
carving out of resources was involved in which Iran stood to lose the most by giving up very lucrative

Britain during this time had fought with Iran and beat them in some battles. Iran during this time also
suffered defeats by the Russians which culminated with the Shah of the Qajar dynasty, Naser Al Din
Shah ruling the middle of Iran while the Russians ruled the north and the British ruled the south. The
Qajar dynasty was in dire straits as a result and it did not help that the Shah was spending his country
into a more precarious position than he was already in. By the late 19th century the Shah due to his
opulent life style began to issue concessions to each power ruling its upper and lower regions for a fee.
A concession is an amicable agreement to give a certain right such as the ability to improve
infrastructure in order that the concession holder have a monopoly over this enterprise in its given
area. An example would be both Russia and Britain wanting to have concessions of the railroads in
their given sectors, this did not happen. However what the Shah was doing during this time was more
than lining his pockets with gold. He was giving away control of his country to the western powers

Essay on Keep my Camera Rolling in Dubai
Riding on the roads of Dubai is essentially a fieldtrip in itself. There is so much to see form the drop
dead architecture to the metro; from the vigorously kept grass to the natural desert, and of course the
tantalizing advertisements. Whether it s a new product or a new city you ll see it... on cardboard. Oh,
did I mention the expensive line up of luxury cars that roam around too? The highway is surrounded
by high rises and each one has its own unique architecture. Being a rather futuristic/touristy city all the
buildings seem to have adapted a code. Rule number one would probably be: One must create a
unique and eye catching exterior. Rule number two: One must decorate said exterior with astounding
array of lights when sun sets. Rule ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can sometimes see the metro running alongside the highway on the elevated bridge. But, of
course, not the whole highway is surrounded by buildings. There are also many construction sites
which give a window into what Dubai used to be like: a lot of dust and sand. There are some parts
however, in which one might spot a bit of greenery. It s both artificial and real at the same time.
Artificial in the sense that it s not natural to the land and that it must be watered ten times a day to
maintain, and real in the sense that it s not a piece of plastic. Which is commendable because of the
arid climate here. As I m sure we all know, no road is complete without advertisements and Dubai is
no different. For example it s hard to miss the huge brick wall that runs a few miles long advertising
Dubai Sports City that is currently being built. Or the huge structure that s concealing the construction
site of Dubai Lagoon and at the same time is ostentatiously showing off what it s supposed to look
like. Then of course there are the regular advertisements of phones and such glowing at nighttime and
commanding your attention. But no analysis of the roads of Dubai is complete without the cars that
roam on the road. Mostly you ll see the average Toyota or Nissan. But also accompanying them are
Benzes, Lexi, and other luxury/exotic cars. The unusual thing is the quantity of these types of cars
which number unusually high. I suppose it fits with the image of ease,

Using Online Reading Comprehension Skills
To find whether a source is credible they must develop online reading comprehension skills; these
skills are crucial because other researchers have found that children go online to clarify what they are
being taught in school. When kids are curious about something or have a question, it s always more
difficult for the teacher to get to everyone right away in class so they naturally become proactive and
find it out for themselves (Tsikalas). Kids researching and looking up information throughout the day
can make huge impacts on their learning and also improve cognition. It might be better to say that
today s children, more than ninety percent of whom will have an online history by age two, are
developing key tech friendly skills at an earlier age. By engaging kids brains in more complex tasks at
a young stage in their lives, toddlers are improving cognition, developing critical review skills, and
displaying a more advanced comprehension of both virtual and real worlds. Along with stronger
memory, better comprehension, and abstract thought, children who regularly use the internet also
show a more proactive approach to gathering information and feel an improved performance in
reading comprehension. Language fluency and vocabulary get a boost as well, and some kids even
experience a jump in IQ as high as six points. Beyond mental performance, kids and teens using the
Internet and social media demonstrate stronger social skills, better vocabularies, and greater
confidence. They

Organization Structure and Inter Organizational Dependency:
The Environmental Imperative
Contingency theory and Systems theory are the two dominant theories that bring out the link between
organization structure and the environment. Systems theory has evolved over time and undergone
several transitions.
This study tries to provide a more meaningful understanding about closed and open systems by linking
with the object observer model from physics. Additionally, the paper gives a finer view of the
implications of the environment on the organization. It also captures several other areas like the role of

Organizational environment is not dealt as it is not a part of the external environment.
Open vs. Closed Systems
The whole idea of systems theory was under question in embracing the open systems view which was
diametrically against the traditional closed system view. The traditional closed system relied on the
concept of internal efficiency and stability and the organization theorists downplayed the role of the
environment. It was the open systems view which brought the role of environment to the forefront.
Open and closed system were held across a continuum and partially open and partially closed system
gained prominence. A typology of object systems is given in Table 2.
It is noteworthy that a super imposition of object systems as such into systems theory of organization
is not genuine. The observational phase of science consists of at least an observer and an object. The
behavior of all the objects are contextual and one who looks into the dynamics associated with the
behavior of an object in a particular setting is defined as an observer by the object systems. However,
different observers decode the same behavior in different ways. The same theory argues that process is
any activity that involves change which is measured by duration, succession and co existence. Thus,
only open and closed systems are of importance and were considered for the study of organizations.
The other two quadrants were between the two

Systemic Reframe Essay
Systemic reframe: When the clients engage in explain each one s views of the problem, the therapist
will engage in systematic reframing. A technique used to view the problem in different ways by using
each person s view. Meaning after everyone has shared, the therapist will help reframe the situation in
a wider manner. Involves removing the blame from the target client, and letting each person describe
the problem, this will help them identify that all the comments have led to the problem.
Example: A 14 year old boy expresses to his therapist that he and his mom continue to argue about
him meeting his friends after soccer practice which ends at 6:30pm. He would like his mom to accept
and let him go by himself. The therapist expresses to the teen You can tell how much your mom loves
you and takes care of you. Therapist also explains the dangers of walking by himself in the night.
Meaning the teen will probably now understand his moms concern and maybe ask her to take him to
meet his friends so he is not alone on the streets.
First and second order change:

Effective Leadership Of Higher Education
Effective Leadership in Higher Education
Brent Larsen
Northern Michigan University
Literature Review
Within the collegiate setting there are a variety of interactions among professionals and students.
These professionals are often in leadership positions within higher education. Posner (2004) explains,
Leadership development is now an integral part of the education program of college students, with
courses and activities scattered throughout the co curricular experience (p. 443). Effective leadership
at the university level is imperative to higher education with its recent characterization of being amidst
an identity crisis (Smith and Hughey, p. 161). In the following sections I will outline the five

These practices would become more commonly known as the Five Practices of Exemplary
Leadership, which include: Modeling the Way, Inspiring a Shared Vision, Challenging the Process,
Enabling Others to Act and Encouraging the Heart (Posner, 2004).
Model the Way. The first fundamental leadership practice, Model the Way, means that successful
leaders must project an appropriate example for their followers (Posner, 2006). In order for members
of an organization to understand the values and behavior that is expected, it must first be set by
example. Posner (2006) further explains, the values of the leader must be consistent with those of their
followers . The values set by the leader, or the one who fosters change (Astin and Astin, 2000) should
serve as a moral compass that guides their daily lives.
Inspire a Shared Vision. The second fundamental leadership practice, Inspire a Shared Vision,
represents the importance of having a collective commitment to the future of the organization (Kouzes
and Posner, 2002). Allowing the organization to share a vision for the organization will ensure that the
organization is collectively being lead in the intended direction. When a leader is able to accomplish
this task and connect its followers around a common mission, their leadership will prove to be
effective.
Challenge the Process. The third fundamental leadership practice it to Challenge the Process, which
implies that successful leaders are willing to take calculated risks ,

Definition Of Drunk Driving
People often get confused with the different terms used to describe or classify drunk driving. The fact
is that there really is not much difference between them. Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and
Driving Under the Influence (DUI) are the same but some states use one term while another state uses
the other term. Some states use the term OUI which stands for Operating under the influence. All three
terms refer to the same offense of drinking while driving.
DUI is the most widely used term for drunk driving. DWI is less common but is used in New York,
Texas, and Missouri. OUI is more commonly used in the North eastern States including
Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island. There are also other terms used by some states such as OWI
(Operating While Intoxicated), OMVI (Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated), DUII (Driving
under the influence of an intoxicant), DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired), and DWUI (Driving
While Under the Influence).
Drunk driving is a persistent problem on our roads today. In Kansas City especially, the prevalence of
drivers who act negligent and get behind the wheel while being intoxicated continues to increase.
Drunk driving incidents are especially observed during holidays such as Independence Day, St. Patrick
s Day and Cinco de Mayo. On St. Patrick s Day alone, police officers got 41 drunks out of 1300
vehicles that were checked. In 2016, there were 999 DUIs and this number did not include North KC,
Jackson County, and other nearby areas.

focus on the American movie industry Hollywood. Globally, Hollywood is used as an inspiration for
other filmmaking industries. As influential as Hollywood is, there are always going to be opinions of
other nations in which many believe that Hollywood has created a sense of anti Americanism . Many

Around the world today, everything is influenced by popular culture, and popular culture is greatly
influenced by the United States. It s no surprise that Hollywood is well known globally because the
best way to share popular culture is through movies and music. As previously stated, popular culture
has been disliked at times, which also means Hollywood is disliked as well. The reason for this is
because many countries think there s too much nudity and too much violence in the movies that are
made in Hollywood. However, America has persevered because in order to be the best, one has to deal
with criticism. American media continues to do very well abroad, especially Hollywood products that
are known to be a key engine of our economy . Without it, our economy probably would not be on the
top (Bronk). In order for Hollywood products to do well abroad they need to be liked, and according
to our economy people around the world like Hollywood a lot. It s not the dislike for American
cultures that causes countries to ban American films from their countries. For many, it s because of the
huge cultural gap that exists. According to Iranian National Media Council, the theme of the film does
not fit with our cultural values . For example, in Iran, some of the aspects of a Hollywood movie do
not fit their cultural values, especially sex, and nudity

Examples Of A Sufficient Condition
A Necessary Condition Taking for instance, x is a necessary condition for y, that implies that if x
lacks, then y cannot be yielded. To confirm that x is a condition that is requisite for y does imply that x
guarantees y. Another good example is; having diesel in a vehicle is a necessary condition intended for
the automobile to start. Deprived of diesel (x), the vehicle (y) won t start. However, fueling the vehicle
is not an assurance that the car will start, because there are various conditions playing part (Gerson
Lloyd 214). A Sufficient Condition In the essence that x is regarded as a sufficient condition meant for
y, then that implies that with x, y is in necessitate to follow. Correspondingly, x guarantees y.
Deliberate on the following example. Making a total of 900 points (90%) in a Critical and Creative
Thinking class is a sufficient condition that will guarantee a final score of A (Gerson Lloyd 216). ...

Memes In Richard Dawkins s The Selfish Gene
When identifying what a meme is, one should consider the fact that a meme is not just a circulating

different entities ranging from new concepts to new slang words, to even a development of a new
behavior that has become popular within a culture. Richard Dawkins, author of the book The Selfish

Nannies Maids And Sex Workers In The New Economy Summary
In the text Nannies, Maids, and Sex Workers in the New Economy, Barbara Ehrenreich and Arlie
Russell Hochschild argue that women from third world countries have to leave their homes and go to
developed countries in order to provide for their families. When these women move so far away their
family bond is affected and their children miss out on the love and affection they need. These women
also run the risk of getting paid little for their work, being manipulated by their bosses, and also
having to become sex workers for them so they don t run the risk of losing their jobs.
In the text Nannies, Maids, and Sex Workers in the New Economy by Barbara Ehrenreich and Arlie
Russell Hochschild discusses the underlying issue of why these women are forced to leave their
homes and go to developed countries to work. The issue is that there is not enough money in the third
world countries because all the goods have been taken by developed countries. During colonialism,
the developed countries were gaing so much leaving little for these third world countries. Even though
colonialism is not as prevalent today there is still some type of inequality where developed countries

Eusebius s Expository Essay
Eusebius emphasizes the importance of academic study for effective pastoral care and defense of the
community both within, and outside of the community. I wonder if this may have been a response to
widespread suspicion among other Christians of the philosophical and esoteric brand of Christianity
that seems to have been quite prevalent in 4th century Alexandria and Caesarea. His insistence on the
concrete value of intellectual pursuits is in part to rehabilitate his heritage and connection to Origen. It
may also be a response in part due to what Eusebius would call elite prejudice against the isolated
philosopher. However, as Origen s attitude toward the leadership of the church had evolved from that
of Clement of Rome, Eusebius attempts to take a step or two beyond Origen. Eusebius both does
justice to his heritage in Origen, while shaping it into his 4th century rhetoric and ideology of
legitimate authority. For Origen, the free obedience of the student to the teacher was vital, and

which is entrusted to the preeminent bishop. Eusebius sets Bishops and clerics as the climax of his
discussion of the first Christian school, revealing the school s ultimate role in his ideological model of
Christian leadership and the picture of the church that it not only enables, but strengthens overall,

What is Capital Punishment?
Capital punishment is a practice in which prisoners are executed in accordance with judicial practice
when they are convicted of committing what is known as a capital crime. Capital crimes are crimes

A Comparison Of The Fast And The Furious
Although Hollywood is not a stranger to a movie being used as a stencil or a cookie cutter to generate
other. If the plot was dissected of the award winning movie, The Fast and the Furious, one could see
an exact story line to another award winning cult classic, Point Break. With the 10 years in between
the production of both movies, it has become very easy for some and especially the newest generation
of movie watcher to completely miss the shocking similarities and brilliance of these two movies. The
unforgettable excellence of these two classics is unmistakable, but The Fast and the Furious walks
away with victory thanks to their modifications of the plot, the fantastic cast, and exceptional stunt
scenes. Although both movies are great in their own way, The Fast and the Furious took the similar
plot, built a franchise, and ran with it for the last 16 years.
Both plots are very similar, but with very minor modifications. The Fast and the Furious is dubbed the
Point Break with cars (Roe). The plot begins with a young struggling FBI agent or police officer
trying to catch his first big break. Then, throw in a gang of troubled misfits with a strong leader. The
young agent must infiltrate the gang to find out who may be behind a series of robberies, but without
blowing his cover. During this time, the agent befriends the leaders of the gang, but in doing so he also
falls for a woman, who is also affiliated with the gang. He begins to believe a rival gang is responsible

action was in breach of Constitutional protections of speech and press. The jury in the circuit court
awarded Sullivan five hundred thousand dollars in damages. This was the initial ruling against the
New York Times who had lost. Sullivan had claimed he was libeled in the advertisement called Heed

Edmund Hero Quotes
In the end of the novel, Edmund showed the traits of a brave and altruistic hero through his actions.
Edmund used to be a bratty evil child, but since the middle of the novel, he has begun to become a
very heroic person. Given his history, some would say that he could never change, but his experiences
with the White Witch allowed him to come to his senses about what side he should be on, and what
side he shouldn t be on. All the anger that was building up inside of him towards the Witch, he let out
on the battlefield by destroying her wand and putting an end to the reign of the White Witch. Edmund
is now a hero because he no longer is only thinking about himself, he has now gained the trait of
altruism and is thinking about the needs of others, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of Edmund s new heroic stature is on page 95, It was all Edmund s doing, Aslan Peter
was saying. We d have been beaten if it hadn t been for him. This quote shows that Peter now respects
his once bratty younger brother. This act of kindness towards Edmund from Peter is a sign that
Edmund has changed a lot. Another quote that proves that Edmund is a hero is on page 95, And when
he reached her he had sense to bring his sword smashing down on her wand instead of trying to go for
her directly. As we know, at the beginning of this novel, Edmund cared for nobody but himself, so he
would never have risked his life to save Narnia. But he did risk his life and he did play a very
important role in the battle for Narnia. The final quote that proves that Edmund had transformed from
antagonist to protagonist is on page 96, When at last she was free to come back to Edmund she found
him standing on his feet and not only healed of his wounds but looking better than she had seen him
look oh, for ages; in fact ever since his first term at that horrid school which was where he had begun

Compare And Contrast Hamlet Movies
The 1990 film version of Hamlet by Franco Zeffireni and the 1996 version by Michael Almereyda are
very different form on another as they both put the play into perspective in different lights with the
time they are set in. The 1990 version is set in the 14th to 15th century whereas the 1996 version is set
in 1990 s to 2000 s. The time the films are set in makes a huge difference to how different the versions
are, as it changes almost everything about the film. From the props that are used to the way the
characters interact with each other. The two film versions of Hamlet are drastically different from one
another all due to the time they are set in.
The biggest impact that the time of the film is the settings. The 1990 version is set in Denmark
whereas the 1996 is set in New York City. This changes many things about the movies. In the old
version there are castles, dungeons, and old looking architects. But in the modern day one there are
high rises, museums, apartments, offices, and swimming pools. The settings change how the scenes
go, for example in the modern version Ophelia dies by drowning in a water fountain where as ... Show

In the modern version there are guns, televisions, companies, 1990 s to 2000 s clothing, cars etc. and
in the old version there was swords, old fashioned clothing and furniture, and horses. The props like
the settings also affected how the scenes went down, for instance in the old version Polonious was
killed by a sword but in the modern version he was killed with a gun. Also the type of transportation in
the old version was horses but in the modern one they used cars. Also in the modern version when
there was news it would be on the news channel on the television or the radio but in the old version
the news had to get around by people talking. So the things that happened in the scenes was based on
the props they had and the props was based on the time it was set

Making a Connection in Thos Pynchon s The Crying of Lot...
Making a Connection in The Crying of Lot 49 For as long as I could read comprehensively, I have
always believed that great writing centered around well written stories that would both provide a
certain measure of unaffected pleasure, as well as challenge the readers perception of the world at
large; both within and outside of the sphere of its prose. Thomas Pynchons The Crying of Lot 49
encompasses both of those requirements; by enfolding his readers, through a variety of means, within
the intricate workings of his narrative. It centers around would be heroine Oedipa Maas, a practical
but somewhat restless woman, who s life is turned upside down when she discovers that she has been

Both the reader and the characters develop similar problems in dealing with the chaos around them.
Like Pynchons reader s, Oedipa is forced to either work toward interpreting the trail of seemingly
indecipherable clues being tossed in her wake or forgo it all and walk away in bewilderment. Like the
reader by deciding to go on, however aimlessly, she is forcibly drawn out of the complacency of her
own existence; into a chaotic system of intrigue that reaches far beyond her normal scope of
understanding. In the same turn, like Oedipa the reader s role is also based on interpreting numerous
symbols and metaphorical clues as a means of stumbling upon a legible conclusion that will stop the
madness. Each of them arriving at a different conclusion or none at all solely depended upon how far
the use of our perceptions will allow us to go. Unfortunately both Oedipa and the reader (myself
included) are overwhelmed by the myriad of inconsistencies and masked innuendo saturating this
book from cover to cover. Unable to sufficiently distinguish between what is real and relevant and
what is unreal and irrelevant, both are left feeling disconcerted and

Manslaughter Vs Manslaughter Cases
The Supreme Court declared unconstitutional the emplacement of the mandatory death sentence. This
declaration makes certain assumptions about crime and criminals. These assumptions include the
notion that not all crimes are equal in severity. Severity of crimes differs from case to case.
Manslaughter can range from a driver unintentionally killing a pedestrian to a disgruntled ex
employee shooting his ex boss. One of these manslaughter cases proves intentional, while the other
case proves accidental. Both cases fit the description of manslaughter, but both men are not
necessarily menaces to society. The driver made a mistake, whereas the shooter did not. As
evaluations of each case persist, the driver would likely receive a lesser sentence.

Le Lean And Lean
Introduction Lean Principles have been essential to numerous organisations all over the world for
achieving outstanding results in terms of efficiency, quality and manufacturing times. Large
organisations are especially acknowledged to implement lean principles successfully. However, in
recent years small and medium sized enterprises have been in emphasis due to their flexibility and
capabilities that provides the necessary robustness in the global economic crisis (Matt , 2007).
Therefore, this paper will critically appraise and assess two separate case studies by authors Matt and
Rauch (2013) and Kumar et al. (2006) respectively. The two case studies, provided by these respective
authors, revolve around SMEs in two different countries. This paper will identify lean elements along
with their motivations behind their lean implementations and identify the main differences and
similarities between the two case studies in terms of general lean literature. Finally, a list of
recommendations will be given to each case study and how their individual companies can improve
the success of their lean adoption. The Case Studies Lean Adoption The first case study is a SME,
situated in the north of Italy. The firm started in 1995 and employs around 25 persons. With a small
employee size it was very hard to commit too much time to develop a lean production with a two year

The Declaration of Independence was written so Americans could achieve this dream, but the African

Was this old woman, Circe, real or part of one of Milkman s dreams/nightmares? Could Macon s

He was flying. He flew. You know, like a bird. Just stood up in the fields one day, ran up some hill,
spun around a couple of times, and was lifted up in the air. Went right on back to wherever it was he

They were smothering her, taking away her breath with their soft jagged lips. And she merely smiled
and fought them off as though they were harmless butterflies (105).
It really does not matter because dreams become reality and vice versa in Milkman s world.
The dream of the women in Song of Solomon was to find a man or husband to take care of them. Ruth
thought that by marrying a man with Macon s status, money and ownership of property, she would
live the perfect fairytale life. This dream turns into a nightmare as Macon either ignores her or raises a
hand to strike her. This unhappy marriage often caused Ruth to dream about

Essay On Pros For Conscientious Objectors
In 1945, the Korean peninsular was divided into two Koreas: South and North Korea. The
geographical division turned into the ideological collision: democracy versus communism. Because of
the tension along the border between South and North Korea, national security has become a
significant issue , and mandatory military service continues to take precedence over individual human
rights (Choi 133). Specifically, not only the Korean Ministry of Defense, but also the public in South
Korea have opposed to implement the alternatives for conscientious objectors because of the concerns:
the need for equal treatment in military service and the fear that providing an exception will result in
the decline of military strength and national security (Choi 135 36). In this sense, the conscientious
objectors were criticized as being no more than unpatriotic deviants who ignore the serious military
tension and refuse to fight against the communist North (Cho 194). Evidently, the national sentiment

The Noblest Roman Of Them All
Sophia Seo Mrs. Rufolo English 9 Honors 11 15 14 The Noblest Roman of Them All Meet Brutus, the
man who made the phrase stabbing a friend in the back literal. He kept only the best of intentions in
mind when he sacrificed his friendship for the better of the whole. He was considered a noble, naive
idealist and patriotic politician by his fellow patricians. Due to his strong passion for Rome, this tragic
hero was manipulated to turn against a dear friend. Marcus Brutus battled with his conflicting
emotions on account of his close relationship with Caesar, extreme loyalty to Rome, and blind trust.
Brutus felt he was caught in an internal battle between fulfilling his loyalty to his country and the
friendship with Caesar. Early in the play, he apologizes for being withdrawn and troubling Cassius
with his personal grievances. Then that poor Brutus, with himself at war, forgets the shows of love to
other men (I.ii.46 47). Brutus s political mindset feared the damage a king would do to the republic
while his love for Caesar hampered him from taking action. Cassius asked Brutus if he feared the
crowning of Caesar. In response, the distressed patrician expressed both his political and personal
opinions. He admitted his fear, but also stated he loved Caesar. He then inquired whether Cassius s
intention was necessary for the general good. He would weigh honour and death impartially, but result
in loving the name of honor more than the fear of death. (I.ii.78 89) As a devoted

God countless times, Christ was always there for us no matter what we did. His love is greater than

If one believe s there is a God who has created them for a reason then life has purpose. He gave us a
purpose to live and that is to follow Him and give glory to Him in everything we do (Kelsey, 2012).
When we die, we are judged by God and we either go to heaven or hell. What determines this is if we
believe Jesus Christ died for our sins, rose again, and through Christ we are able to have a relationship
with God (Kelsey, 2012). People ask why I believe in Christ and how I know that everything in the
Bible is true and they are astounded when they hear my answer. First, believing that there is a God,
believing that there is no God, and believing that there are many gods all have one thing in common:
faith. Without faith, how can we believe or not believe in something? If a person says, I have no faith
in you, what exactly does that mean? It means that, that person does not believe in someone and that
they have no trust in them. It is the same in any religion. One has to have faith to believe in
something. A friend told me that she saw someone who I looked like. Even though I didn t see what
she saw I still put my faith in her and believed her. The Bible says everything in it is true (2 Timothy
3:16 17 NIV). The Bible is historically correct and no one has proven that wrong (Hovind, 2014).

for oil and gas exploration and production companies, where Documentum helped them manage the
property/lease/royalty paperwork. This approach is often called the bowling pin model, because you
set up the initial niche as a headpin , knock it down and that makes it substantially easier to knock
down the following pins .
This approach also helps you keep a controlled risk (or cash burn rate) by requiring the software
company to demonstrate that it can find and close customers with an urgent need to buy, one niche at a
time.

Note that Documentum had the discipline to stay focused on the needs of very tightly defined sets of

Overcoming Barriers To Running
Barriers to engagement in a general sense have more to do with factors like age and gender (and to
some extent, race) than they do specifically with running. But running is not irrelevant when it comes
to the avoidance of physicians. As previously stated, running provides a whole host of health benefits,
but also induces hormonal response that literally makes runners feel good about themselves. In the
midst of that bliss, however, runners can develop bad habits or get an inflated sense of how healthy
they actually are, or worse, a stubbornness to treat the injuries they receive directly from running.
Kara Mayer Robinson, a runner and contributor to Runners World Magazine, writes: We runners are
often hyperaware of our bodies, and when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The practice of annual or biannual checkups is firmly rooted in the lifeblood of American medicine,
but also has practical application: if one goes through the trouble of selecting a primary care doctor,
what sense does it make to almost never see said doctor? Nevertheless, author Brian Palmer offers
insight into the uselessness of most annual checkups in the United States: Annual checkups account
for more than 8 percent of doctor visits and cost the health care system $8 billion annually more than
the total health care spending of several states. Each visit takes around 23 minutes, which means
doctors in the United States spend approximately 17 million hours each year running their
stethoscopes over 45 million completely healthy people. (Palmer 2013) Also, when preventive care is
offered at annual checkups (which is only about 20% of the time), the potential for overscreening and
overtesting exists, and this can cause patients to manufacture illness based on something only minor or
because of a false positive (Palmer 2013). In other words, the more one visits her doctor, the more
likely she is to feel ill even when she is perfectly

Papers On Amelia Earhart
Never interrupt someone doing something you said couldn t be done. Amelia Earhart. Ms. Earhart was
an aviator during the 1920 s and 1930 s. Amelia was an amazing pilot. Amelia had many achievements
and made a mark in history.
The American aviator, Amelia Earhart, remains the world s best known pilot, even long after her
mysterious disappearance during a round the world flight in 1937. Amelia was born on July 24, 1897
in Atchison Kansas (2 Amelia ). Her mother, Amy Otis Earhart, married a man named Edwin, who
was an alcoholic. He was always searching for a job because he wanted to establish a good financial
foundation for the family. In her early childhood, she spent most of her time with her upper middle

She was a feminist. She was the Rosie The Riveter of that time! Today, females can look up to Amelia
for inspiration. Amelia was a strong, independent woman doing her own things. When she had
dreams, she accomplished them. Back in the day and even today, males are dominant . All the guys
were supposed to be playing sports and being athletes while the women were basically restricted from
participating in any athletic thing. Men are stereotyped to be strong, independent, brave. Women are
stereotyped to be fragile, caring, weak. The men are the knight in shining armor while the women are
the princesses trapped in the tower. But Amelia was looked up to like the knight in shining armor.
Amelia was one out of many to stand up and say Hey! What men can do, women can do better. She
did the things that males did like sports and flying. Amelia is a great role model today; she wasn t
afraid to call herself a feminist. Amelia was a very strong and independent woman, which are some
characteristics that men are stereotyped to have. Amelia Earhart is gone because of her tragic
disappearance over the Pacific, but for sure, what she has done stills lives on till this

  • 2. A Brief Note On Death By Social Media Death by social media. Social media, for most of world, was introduced with MySpace. They could reconnect with people they had lost touch with over the years and really share their day to day lives with each other. Social media was the beginning of a new era. As social media grew and continues to grow today the world is reaping the benefits. With many websites and smart phone apps, it is an important communication tool used all over the world. However beneficial, social media is extremely flawed. The world is seeing a loss in productivity and vital communication skills needed for day to day life. People all over the world are less productive since social media hit the big time. Lost productivity effects their personal lives, work lives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has happened to me one too many times at home. Instead of taking care of the pool or the lawn I was too busy telling people that I was going to do it. Most people, including myself, will say they are going to do something, wait for a bit of recognition and that gratification is enough to make them feel as good as if they had done the activity. They end up feeling great about their hard work but in reality none of the work has been done. Social media is used for just about everything so it is no surprise it is seen in the work place. Many businesses use social media to promote their work and bring in revenue. But social media in the work place does not end there. Employees will push the envelope and see what they can get away with. I once worked in a factory, in an area by myself and I knew I could have my cell phone out. With that came the temptation to socialize, via social networking. It was so bad at one point that I spent over an hour using social media without realizing. This type of behavior led to questions as to why my work was not done in a timely manner. Companies are losing money and valuable time because of the craze that is social media. Education is also suffering because of social media. Students everywhere, especially the younger generations, are extremely involved with social networking. Indirectly, it also forced Rome to grow politically and militarily as it learned to deal with acquisitions and powerful opponents beyond the Italian peninsula. Direct Consequence of the Second Punic War (218 201) (Morey, 1901a, Par. Battle of Zama and End of the War) 1. Carthage became a dependent state, loosing it s right to declare war without permission of Rome. 2. Carthage lost all lands in Spain, and was split up into the two Roman provinces of Hither and Farther Spain which was then governed by a Roman praetor. 3. Carthage lost claim to all Mediterranean islands between Carthage and Italy. 4. Carthage was saddled with tribute of 200 talents payable for fifty fifty. 5. In each instance however, Iran was on a road to appeasement. In some instances such as with the Qajar s, Iran s Imperial family was trying to get more money for the betterment of itself. Britain during this time had fought with Iran and beat them in some battles. Iran during this time also suffered defeats by the Russians which culminated with the Shah of the Qajar dynasty, Naser Al Din Shah ruling the middle of Iran while the Russians ruled the north and the British ruled the south. The Qajar dynasty was in dire straits as a result and it did not help that the Shah was spending his country into a more precarious position than he was already in. By the late 19th century the Shah due to his opulent life style began to issue concessions to each power ruling its upper and lower regions for a fee. A concession is an amicable agreement to give a certain right such as the ability to improve infrastructure in order that the concession holder have a monopoly over this enterprise in its given area. There is so much to see form the drop dead architecture to the metro; from the vigorously kept grass to the natural desert, and of course the tantalizing advertisements. Whether it s a new product or a new city you ll see it... on cardboard. Oh, did I mention the expensive line up of luxury cars that roam around too? The highway is surrounded by high rises and each one has its own unique architecture. Being a rather futuristic/touristy city all the buildings seem to have adapted a code. Rule number one would probably be: One must create a unique and eye catching exterior. Rule number two: One must decorate said exterior with astounding array of lights when sun sets. Rule ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You can sometimes see the metro running alongside the highway on the elevated bridge. But, of course, not the whole highway is surrounded by buildings. There are also many construction sites which give a window into what Dubai used to be like: a lot of dust and sand. There are some parts however, in which one might spot a bit of greenery. It s both artificial and real at the same time. Artificial in the sense that it s not natural to the land and that it must be watered ten times a day to maintain, and real in the sense that it s not a piece of plastic. Which is commendable because of the arid climate here. As I m sure we all know, no road is complete without advertisements and Dubai is no different. For example it s hard to miss the huge brick wall that runs a few miles long advertising Dubai Sports City that is currently being built. Or the huge structure that s concealing the construction site of Dubai Lagoon and at the same time is ostentatiously showing off what it s supposed to look like. Then of course there are the regular advertisements of phones and such glowing at nighttime and commanding your attention. But no analysis of the roads of Dubai is complete without the cars that roam on the road. Mostly you ll see the average Toyota or Nissan. But also accompanying them are Benzes, Lexi, and other luxury/exotic cars. The unusual thing is the quantity of these types of cars which number unusually high. • 7. Using Online Reading Comprehension Skills To find whether a source is credible they must develop online reading comprehension skills; these skills are crucial because other researchers have found that children go online to clarify what they are being taught in school. When kids are curious about something or have a question, it s always more difficult for the teacher to get to everyone right away in class so they naturally become proactive and find it out for themselves (Tsikalas). Kids researching and looking up information throughout the day can make huge impacts on their learning and also improve cognition. It might be better to say that today s children, more than ninety percent of whom will have an online history by age two, are developing key tech friendly skills at an earlier age. By engaging kids brains in more complex tasks at a young stage in their lives, toddlers are improving cognition, developing critical review skills, and displaying a more advanced comprehension of both virtual and real worlds. Along with stronger memory, better comprehension, and abstract thought, children who regularly use the internet also show a more proactive approach to gathering information and feel an improved performance in reading comprehension. Language fluency and vocabulary get a boost as well, and some kids even experience a jump in IQ as high as six points. Beyond mental performance, kids and teens using the Internet and social media demonstrate stronger social skills, better vocabularies, and greater confidence. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Organization Structure and Inter Organizational Dependency: The Environmental Imperative Contingency theory and Systems theory are the two dominant theories that bring out the link between organization structure and the environment. Systems theory has evolved over time and undergone several transitions. This study tries to provide a more meaningful understanding about closed and open systems by linking with the object observer model from physics. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Organizational environment is not dealt as it is not a part of the external environment. Open vs. Closed Systems The whole idea of systems theory was under question in embracing the open systems view which was diametrically against the traditional closed system view. The traditional closed system relied on the concept of internal efficiency and stability and the organization theorists downplayed the role of the environment. It was the open systems view which brought the role of environment to the forefront. Open and closed system were held across a continuum and partially open and partially closed system gained prominence. A typology of object systems is given in Table 2. It is noteworthy that a super imposition of object systems as such into systems theory of organization is not genuine. The observational phase of science consists of at least an observer and an object. The behavior of all the objects are contextual and one who looks into the dynamics associated with the behavior of an object in a particular setting is defined as an observer by the object systems. However, different observers decode the same behavior in different ways. The same theory argues that process is any activity that involves change which is measured by duration, succession and co existence. Thus, only open and closed systems are of importance and were considered for the study of organizations. The other two quadrants were between the two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Example: A 14 year old boy expresses to his therapist that he and his mom continue to argue about him meeting his friends after soccer practice which ends at 6:30pm. He would like his mom to accept and let him go by himself. The therapist expresses to the teen You can tell how much your mom loves you and takes care of you. In order for members of an organization to understand the values and behavior that is expected, it must first be set by example. Posner (2006) further explains, the values of the leader must be consistent with those of their followers . Some states use the term OUI which stands for Operating under the influence. All three terms refer to the same offense of drinking while driving. DUI is the most widely used term for drunk driving. DWI is less common but is used in New York, Texas, and Missouri. OUI is more commonly used in the North eastern States including Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island. Drunk driving is a persistent problem on our roads today. In Kansas City especially, the prevalence of drivers who act negligent and get behind the wheel while being intoxicated continues to increase. Just stood up in the fields one day, ran up some hill, spun around a couple of times, and was lifted up in the air. Went right on back to wherever it was he came from (323). Was Ruth, Milkman s mother, almost swallowed up by her garden plants as Milkman watched from the kitchen window?: They were smothering her, taking away her breath with their soft jagged lips. And she merely smiled and fought them off as though they were harmless butterflies (105). It really does not matter because dreams become reality and vice versa in Milkman s world. The dream of the women in Song of Solomon was to find a man or husband to take care of them. Ruth thought that by marrying a man with Macon s status, money and ownership of property, she would live the perfect fairytale life. • 34. Essay On Pros For Conscientious Objectors In 1945, the Korean peninsular was divided into two Koreas: South and North Korea. The geographical division turned into the ideological collision: democracy versus communism. Because of the tension along the border between South and North Korea, national security has become a significant issue , and mandatory military service continues to take precedence over individual human rights (Choi 133). Specifically, not only the Korean Ministry of Defense, but also the public in South Korea have opposed to implement the alternatives for conscientious objectors because of the concerns: the need for equal treatment in military service and the fear that providing an exception will result in the decline of military strength and national security (Choi 135 36). In this sense, the conscientious objectors were criticized as being no more than unpatriotic deviants who ignore the serious military tension and refuse to fight against the communist North (Cho 194). He kept only the best of intentions in mind when he sacrificed his friendship for the better of the whole. He was considered a noble, naive idealist and patriotic politician by his fellow patricians. Due to his strong passion for Rome, this tragic hero was manipulated to turn against a dear friend. Marcus Brutus battled with his conflicting emotions on account of his close relationship with Caesar, extreme loyalty to Rome, and blind trust. Brutus felt he was caught in an internal battle between fulfilling his loyalty to his country and the friendship with Caesar. Early in the play, he apologizes for being withdrawn and troubling Cassius with his personal grievances. Then that poor Brutus, with himself at war, forgets the shows of love to other men (I.ii.46 47). Brutus s political mindset feared the damage a king would do to the republic while his love for Caesar hampered him from taking action. Cassius asked Brutus if he feared the crowning of Caesar. In response, the distressed patrician expressed both his political and personal opinions. He admitted his fear, but also stated he loved Caesar. He then inquired whether Cassius s intention was necessary for the general good. He would weigh honour and death impartially, but result in loving the name of honor more than the fear of death. • 36. Essay on My Views on God and the Nature of the Universe A worldview is an opinion on how you see society as a whole. Each person s worldview is impacted by their culture, religion, family friends, etc. I am a Pentecostal Christian and a Romanian and these two aspects impact my worldview immeasurably. Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and He died on the cross for each person on this Earth. Even though each person has sinned and turned their backs on God countless times, Christ was always there for us no matter what we did. His love is greater than any love we have ever encountered and His grace is immensely great. How do we know who God is and the nature of the universe, what is our purpose and what happens when we die, and how do we know right from wrong are some of the main question people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If one believe s there is a God who has created them for a reason then life has purpose. He gave us a purpose to live and that is to follow Him and give glory to Him in everything we do (Kelsey, 2012). When we die, we are judged by God and we either go to heaven or hell. What determines this is if we believe Jesus Christ died for our sins, rose again, and through Christ we are able to have a relationship with God (Kelsey, 2012). People ask why I believe in Christ and how I know that everything in the Bible is true and they are astounded when they hear my answer. First, believing that there is a God, believing that there is no God, and believing that there are many gods all have one thing in common: faith. Without faith, how can we believe or not believe in something? If a person says, I have no faith in you, what exactly does that mean? It means that, that person does not believe in someone and that they have no trust in them. It is the same in any religion. One has to have faith to believe in something. A friend told me that she saw someone who I looked like. Even though I didn t see what she saw I still put my faith in her and believed her. The Bible says everything in it is true (2 Timothy 3:16 17 NIV). The Bible is historically correct and no one has proven that wrong (Hovind, 2014). But running is not irrelevant when it comes to the avoidance of physicians. As previously stated, running provides a whole host of health benefits, but also induces hormonal response that literally makes runners feel good about themselves. In the midst of that bliss, however, runners can develop bad habits or get an inflated sense of how healthy they actually are, or worse, a stubbornness to treat the injuries they receive directly from running. The practice of annual or biannual checkups is firmly rooted in the lifeblood of American medicine, but also has practical application: if one goes through the trouble of selecting a primary care doctor, what sense does it make to almost never see said doctor? Nevertheless, author Brian Palmer offers insight into the uselessness of most annual checkups in the United States: Annual checkups account for more than 8 percent of doctor visits and cost the health care system $8 billion annually more than the total health care spending of several states. Each visit takes around 23 minutes, which means doctors in the United States spend approximately 17 million hours each year running their stethoscopes over 45 million completely healthy people. (Palmer 2013) Also, when preventive care is offered at annual checkups (which is only about 20% of the time), the potential for overscreening and overtesting exists, and this can cause patients to manufacture illness based on something only minor or because of a false positive (Palmer 2013).
