Essay about The Turks and Mongols
In order to discuss the movements of Asiatic peoples into Europe from the first inroad of the Huns to
the conquests of the Osmanli Turks in the sixteenth century, it will be necessary to review briefly the
events in central and eastern Asia which preceded and precipitated these incursions.
From the time that the Irano Aryan ancestors had arrived in Russian Turkestan in anticipation of their
descent into the hills of northwestern India, much of this grassy plain had been the home of those
Iranians who remained behind while their kinsmen climbed the mountains which would take them into
India and the Irano Afghan plateau. These Iranians apparently developed, or borrowed, a high degree
of adaptation to their steppe environment, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we view the Hunnish inroad into Europe in the light of the total context of Old World history, it
ceases to be a strange inruption of hideous and invincible barbarians darting out of nowhere, as it at
first appeared to the Byzantines and Romans. The Huns were a people who had been exposed to a
high civilization that of China; they were cultured if illiterate, and in every sense the match of the
frightened adversaries whom they met in Europe. When we examine the details of these invasions, we
see that it was not one simple inroad, but a series of them in which a perplexing confusion of names is
involved. Chief of the newcomers, after the Huns, were the Avars, who arrived in the sixth century.
The Huns considered these their kinsmen and equals, and later amalgamated with them after the Avars
had, in the eighth century, been defeated by Charlemagne and had retreated, some to Hungary and
others to the Don country.
From the fall of the Huns until the rise of the Mongols some thousand years later, the history of central
Asia is simply a repetition of the same theme; some obscure sub tribe would become important, win
leadership over the others, and head new invasions of increasing complexity. The history of southern
Russia became extremely complicated, for the steppes of the Don country served as a terminal point
for all but the most serious of these movements.
After the Avars came the Turks, called

John s Wife Cause And Effect
Thomas Moore once said, Those who plot the destruction of others often perish in the attempt. This is
not what happen to John Wick. He prevailed in avenging his last gift from his dead wife, a dog named
Daisy. This film was mainly about John and how he, in the end, obliterated his enemy. I will explain
the cause and effect of this decision that Iosef made, and why this was such a terrible decision. First
off the cause. The cause of John going berserk was Iosef. Iosef was a terrible person who though he
was untouchable. He thought he could take what he wanted and killed who he pleased. This was
correct until he killed John s puppy, which was a final gift from his dead wife, and stole his car. John
was peaceful guy until he is provoked by people like Iosef. Just because John refused to sell his car to

John used to be a very good assassin. He escaped that life and got married, but his wife had a terminal
illness which cut her life short. Anyway, the night of John s wife s death he received a puppy from a
courier for a post office. The next morning they went out and they met a Russian, Iosef, which offered
to buy Johns car. John refused and drove off. That night Iosef broke into John s house, beat up John,
and killed John s puppy. The next morning found out who Iosef was and he got angry. John broke out
his guns and his tools from under cement in the basement. Later he got a new car and went to search.
He got a room in an assassin solitary, the Continental Hotel in New York City. The first place he
looked was a club which Iosef s father owns. Iosef was there and John killed all Iosef s guards, but got
injured. Back at the Continental John got stitched

Argumentative Essay On Radiocarbon Dating
Radiocarbon dating is a scientific procedure used to calculate the age of dead specimens by the rate of
decay in their levels of C 14. Radiocarbon dating methods are deeply flawed and do not reliably
determine the age of certain fossils or the earth. This is due to the assumptions that they are built upon.
These assumptions include that the conditions on the earth have always been constant and nothing has
ever caused the C 14 levels to fluctuate. These assumptions must be true for radiocarbon dating to be
reliable. However, there is a plethora of evidence showing that these assumptions cannot be trusted.
Radiocarbon dating is a heavily debated topic in the world today. This is primarily due to the powerful
implications it has on people s belief systems. Christians and atheists alike view radiocarbon dating as
important and need to be able to defend or support it. Findings through the process of radiocarbon
dating can help prove or disprove people s beliefs about the world. Radiocarbon dating will always be
a controversial method because of its impact on one s worldview. However, ... Show more content on

For radiocarbon dating to accurately date anything no matter its age, two facts must be accounted for.
The rate of decay of Carbon 14 and the amount of Carbon 14 in the creature at the time of its death
must be known. The rate of decay of Carbon 14 can be determined by its half life, which is around
5,730 years. This means that every 5,730 years the amount of Carbon 14 in an organism is cut in half.
As a result, the amount of Carbon 14 would eventually dissipate to nothing in every organism after its
death. Because of this, radiocarbon dating has a limit to its accuracy. Many times, scientists will claim
that an organism was dated to be many millions of years old. However, according to the half life of
Carbon 14 and the limits that it possesses, this is

The Organizational Structure And Performance
Operant conditioning
Learning occurs from a consequence of the behavior leading to operant conditioning. The major
consideration is in influence of workers behavior through reinforcing important principles. Motivation
is an internal cause of behavior that leads to satisfaction as an external cause (Walle, 2009). This is
after a positive consequence following an organizational performance or production. Positive
reinforcement covers anything that increases strength and response and includes thing such as
bonuses, raises and promotion and more importantly encouragement or praise. The essence of having
reinforcement helps in measuring modifications of behavioral that takes place.
Organizations structures have an effect employee satisfaction hence production and performance.
Despite this, the relationship between the structure and performance are experienced through different
channels in work place (Edmans, Li, Zhang, 2014). This leads to evaluate through the organizational
structure to performance of the firm through satisfaction of employees. The interests are connected to
evaluation of problems of firms through the staffs and finally the performance results. In this study, it
helps in identification of current problems that firms are facing in reflection of the structural
organization. Involvement of the staffs in various aspects, introduces the motivational approach
structure through which problems are solved. The influence of organization structure to the

Counter Argument On Meditation
Counter Argument
Although admired by many very few of us truthfully know what meditation is. It is more or less
mental activity aiming at shifting human concentration to something else; others consider that humans
meditate when they visualize something that gives them peacetime or satisfaction. No matter what the
scientific definition is, the goal is to slow down and, eventually, completely break the continuous
activity of the human mind. Mariam Emara is supporting meditation powerfully as she is an Arhati
Yogi, pranic healer and meditation instructor she is trying to transfer her knowledge to others and to
inspire people to start practicing meditation. Although the writer of the article tried to promote the idea
and practice of meditation, she relied more on her personal experience instead of scientific facts. She
resorted to false assumption, logical fallacies and weak evidence from different cultures without
explaining any of them.

The first logical fallacy is slippery Slope meditation can help, because it is the brain that ultimately
controls the body. Meditation is a mental and spiritual activity, while the brain in the article context is
a human organ that produces chemicals, renews cells and controls the physiological aspects of the
human body. I.e. meditation as a spiritual practice does not necessarily lead to physiological
enhancement. Another slippery slope is: by using techniques of positive affirmation, it can help in
weight loss. Weight loss is more problematic than this. The third logical fallacies false analogy Egypt
has not always been fertile ground for a meditation culture...many people do not believe in meditation.

Essay about President Abraham Lincoln
Although Abraham Lincoln was President over a century and a half ago (1861 1865), he is still
considered to be one of our greatest Presidents, and his legacy remains important for the nation today.
By the late 1800s, sectional tensions in America had led to a split between the Northern and Southern
states. During the Antebellum period, the North became more industrialized as the South increased its
agricultural production. The two sections developed differing economies and ideas and by April 14,
1861, at Fort Sumter, the tensions came to a head as the American Civil War began. Skillfully guiding
the nation through this time of hardship and considered one of the greatest presidents in American
history, Abraham Lincoln left a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His unyielding position on the preservation of the Union can be seen today as the nation is now known
as the United States of America and includes the Southern regions that attempted to secede in the
1860s.
Preserving the Union, however, was only one of the accomplishments of Lincoln that still has an
impact today. In the 1820s, with the rise of expansion and agriculture in the South, slavery increased
in America. During the Antebellum period, slavery continued to be a controversial issue dividing the
North and the South and driving the diverging developments of the nation.
With additional expansion in the 1840s, the question of expansion of slavery again raised sectional
tensions and Northern radicals called for abolition while Southern radicals, or fireeaters, called for
secession from the Union. Lincoln s original position on allowing slavery changed over the course of
his presidency, and by the 1860s, Lincoln aligned himself with the abolitionists, calling for the
immediate abolition of slavery. After the Battle of Antietam, on
September 22, 1862, Lincoln announced his decision to abolish slavery in the states that claimed
secession, and on January 1, 1863, Lincoln formally signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
With this law, all slaves in the Confederacy were freed, and later those in the Border States and
Union states were also freed with the

For example, when everything seems to go wrong, the music is sad. When Billy and Michael are
dancing in the boxing arena, the music is positive and cheerful. As Billy s father goes into them, the
music stops and there is a tense atmosphere. In the end of the movie, when everything seems to evolve
into Billy s favour, it s a love song that reflects Billy mood. I would say that the theme of the film is
dreams and ambition. If you have dreams and ambition you can go far in life and make anything work.
I also think that the theme is about talent. Everyone has a talent somewhere inside themselves it´s just
that you have to wait for it to be founded. We can find both of these themes in the story of Billy Elliot.
By chance he discovers his hidden passion for dance, and he really wants to continue to dance, and at
the same time be accepted by his family. Personally I think that the film Billy Elliot is a good, special
and different film from others I have seen. I think that that the theme of the film was very good, and I
think that Billy Elliot is a very good man. Sometimes it was hard to understand what the actors said,
because they had a strong accent. I want to recommend the film to all people

A Study On Faith And The United States Of The Philippines
Faith Daniel is a forty six year old Chinese female resident of Montgomery, Texas. Faith was born in
the Philippines. However, she is profoundly influenced by her Chinese ancestry. Faith has three
sisters. Faith has a teaching degree and has taught in the private school sector. She can speak English,
Mandarin, French, and knows sign language. Her ancestors moved from China to the Philippines due
to a World War. Male children are valued more in the Chinese culture than females because males
carry on the family name. Therefore, when Faith s mother was pregnant with her fourth female child
she was offered to trade her child with a cousin s male child. Faith s parents refused to give up their
daughter. The refusal to trade for a male baby was a significant disgrace for the family. Consequently,
her father moved his family to the United States of America where her mother instilled the importance
of education in each of her daughters. She considers her father s decision to move the family to the
United States of America as a significant event that shaped her life. She feels that she and her sisters
are much more educated than cousins that eventually moved to the country later in their lives. Faith
possesses a fascinating set of life experiences along with an intriguing Chinese culture that has
influenced her character. Faith s favorite childhood memories include Christmas time with her family.
The children in the family created and performed skits of Bible

Julius Caesar And Calpurnia Essay
Portia and Calpurnia were both noble and important character in Julius Caesar. They were both
married to men who had authority in Rome. Portia was married to Brutus while Calpurnia was married
to Caesar who had more power than Brutus. There are similarities between these two and also
differences. Brutus and Portia marriage is based on equality. Calpurnia s marriage is based on the
Roman marriage, where the man is in charge.
Portia and Brutus s marriage was based on treating each other as equals and no one has power over
another. First and foremost, Portia was only seen right after the important conversation between the
conspirators. She was worried about Brutus, Dear my lord, Make me acquainted with your cause of
grief (Act 1 Scene 2). She was worried because Brutus was not telling her what s going on and why he
s keeping it a secret. When they swore to treat each other equal, it means not to keep secrets from one
another. Also, Portia said, tell me your counsels, I will not disclose em (Act 2 Scene 1). Portia is
persistent and refused to ignore the fact that her husband is keeping a secret from her and thinks she is
unworthy to know because she is a woman. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Does Nathaniel Hawthorne Use Biblical Allusions In The...
Throughout the Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses several biblical allusions to emphasize the
Puritan society this novel was set in and give the reader a comparison of Hester to biblical figures,
both holy and unholy. The Puritan society was one of strict adherence to the Bible and its teachings;
consequently, Hester s sin is not easily forgiven. Through his use of biblical allusions Hawthorne
provides the reader with a historical figure that portrays characteristics or aspects similar to that of
Hester. Hester s curious child, Pearl, is both a blessing and a curse. She completely changed the course
of Hester s life, at a great price. This is comparable to the pearl of great price, mentioned in Matthew
13:45 46. The pearl of great price refers to a man who would give up everything for a pearl, similar to
Hester and her conveniently named child. From the moment Hester became pregnant with Pearl, she
gave up her life, becoming an outcast, and being forced to live apart from the society. It was a great
price for Hester to pay, but a mother s love is one of the strongest things on this Earth, and that can be
seen through her actions. For her Pearl, both literal and figurative, Hester did whatever was necessary
to ensure a future for her daughter and keep a promise she made to the man she loved. The center ...

Designing A 3d Model Of 3d
III. IS IT POSSIBLE TO VISUALIZE 4D?
Some believe that it is impossible for us to visualize 4D, since we are confined to 3D and therefore
cannot directly experience it. However, it is possible to develop a good idea of what 4D objects look
like: the key lies in the fact that to see N dimensions, one only needs an (N 1) dimensional retina.
Even though we are 3D beings who live in a 3D world, our eyes actually only see in 2D. Our retina
has only a 2D surface area with which it can detect light coming into our eye. What our eye sees is in
fact not 3D, but a 2D projection of the 3D world we are looking at. Figure III : Projection of 2D image
In spite of this, we are quite able to grasp the concept of 3D. Our mind is quite facile at re constructing
a 3D model of the world around us from the 2D images seen by our retina. It does this by using
indirect information in the 2D images such as light and shade, parallax, and previous experience. Even
though our retina doesn t actually see 3D depth, we instinctively infer it. We have a very good
intuitive grasp of what 3D is, to the point that we are normally quite unconscious of the fact we re
only seeing in 2D.
Similarly, a hypothetical 4D being would have a 3D retina, and would see the 4D world as 3D
projections. Figure IV: Projection of 3D image
It would not directly see the 4th dimension, but would infer it using indirect information such as light
and shade, parallax, and previous experience.
The key here is that what the 4D

The Truth About Ghosts And Demons Essay
Oren Peli once said, The thing I find really scary about ghosts and demons is tat ylu don t really know
what they are or where they are. They re not very well understood. You don t know what they want
from you. So it s the kind of thing you don t even know how to defend yourself against. Anything that
s unknown and mysterious is very scary. Controversial topics range from global tragedies to the
newest video game. One that has lived for centuries, is whether or not the supernatural and paranormal
exist. Like every discussion, there are believers, and there are skeptics. Scientists tend to be the
skeptics, while those with an adventurous mind tend to be those who believe that some other world
being exist. Scientists use experimentation to give explanations as to why someone would have a
paranormal experience, and most have been successful in what they were proving, but those who are
believers also give excellent points to why their experiences have no scientific proof with them
making it hard to choose a side. Since the dawn of time, there were ghosts, and every person has their
own belief, but many might not know for sure because of the variety of explanations. French from the
University of London calls belief in ghosts a misinterpretation of natural phenomena (French, October
2014, para 1). He explains that from a psychological perspective, it is almost impossible to believe in
such an idea. Modern neuroscience has concluded that no consciousness could survive

Immunization Tour
Immunizations, in my opinion, are one of the most crucial ways to protect yourself and others in
receiving and spreading of diseases. On the 26th of October, in the McNamara Alumni Center, I
volunteered for two hours with the Fall 2017 Immunization Tour. My role in the tour, along with three
other nursing students, was to stand in the entrance and show people where to go. Even in this small
act, I felt as though I was making a difference. This experience was valuable to me in my future
actions to become a nurse. My experience at the Fall 2017 Immunization Tour was impacted
significantly through the efforts of safety, teamwork, and communication.
The Immunization Tour notably focused and relied on the implications of safety. Since I volunteered

communication of the administers and other volunteers, including myself, was a third key factor in the

second set of volunteers greeting them at the desk, the third set of volunteers administering the shots,
and the fourth set of volunteers handed out stickers, suckers, and lead the patients out after the shots.

Essay on Philosophy of Christian Education
The education of children has existed since the beginning of time as parents have taught and molded
their children into the young adults they desired them to be. Initial training of children was not in a
formal setting, although history would see numerous settings, purposes, and methodological changes.
Philosophies of education have also changed through the years as various voices have seemed to grasp
the purpose of educating the next generation, thus laying out objectives to reach those goals of
teaching children. The statement philosophy of Christian education contains much information to be
unwrapped. The term philosophy literally means, in the Greek, love of wisdom. In this case, the study

Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes
of your houses and on your gates (Deuteronomy 6:6 9). Christian education is not all about what takes
place in the formal classroom at school. As Christian educators, we are in a partnership with moms
and dads to help shape and disciple their children. It is the discipleship of children that propels
believing teachers to devote their life to this vital ministry of Christian education. When it comes to
the education of children, there are numerous fundamental factors, to mention a few: parents, teachers,
the student himself, curriculum, methodology, culture, and the Holy Spirit. Students must first take
responsibility for their own education and desire to learn. Even though this key educational factor is
not a prerequisite for learning, all students must eventually hunger for learning or it will never take
root in their lives. Responsible teachers must use responsible materials and methodology in order for
purposeful education to have a lasting impact. Teachers must use their divine calling and materials that
are not sugar coated, censored, vacuous and dry, nor merely politically correct (Holtrop) to challenge
this current generation of students. While secular humanism views children as inherently good, we
know that scripture teaches that all mankind to be innately evil, a

Nancy Goldin s I Ll Be Your Mirror
Nancy Goldin was born in Washington D.C. on September 12th, 1953 to her Jewish parents and grew
up in middle class Lexington. After attending an alternative school in Lincoln she left home at the age
of 13. Suspicious of love between the male and female sexes and also mourning the suicide of her
sister, she actively looked for a substitute family. While doing so, she became involved with a group
of alienated young teenagers that relied on drugs, sex, and violence.
Nan was first introduced to photography at 15 when a teacher passed out Polaroid cameras to students

college to the point of helping them with their entrance paperwork. This is another example how the
executive elite class teachers inspire their students to go beyond their limitations. As limits go, I
realized they existed in 1984 when I had to suffer through Sister Barbara s 8th grade English Class at
St. Stephens. Our class of 64 was divided into two groups, the working class and the executive elite.
There was nothing in between. One either had it or didn t. I obviously didn t have it. The executive
elite class had options to work in teams and come up with brilliant stories to read to the class. In the
end, the group with the best writings received candy treats as prizes. Candy treats still rings in my ear
and that is where it stayed. Our sad working class group was uninspiring and restricted to working
alone at our desk with no treats in sight. Sister Barbara thought it would be a good idea for us working

The Keirsey Test
Who exactly would be considered a Guardian be in today s society? The image of a knight comes to
mind, armor clad and wading mindlessly into battle. How exactly does that apply to me, a 26 year old
bookworm with a flair for the artistic? That was exactly the question I asked myself when I received
the title Guardian from the Keirsey temperament sorter (similar to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator
model). Faced with a very brief description and the horrifying news that 45% of the population shares
my personality (a unique snowflake, indeed) I began to dig into what it exactly it means to be a
guardian. The Keirsey test provides test takers with only two of four categories that are generally used
in tests of this type (with the remaining two

Out Of The Dust Character Analysis
The novel Out of the Dust, by Karen Hesse is a story that teaches great lessons and a story could have
happened to anyone or make an impact on anyone s life. In this novel, there is a young girl named
Billie Jo. She has a rough life with not a lot of good things mixed in. She has a lot of downfalls in her
life with a couple of uprisings. Even though she doesn t have the best life she is grateful for what she
does have. Her life taught me and could teach others to be thankful and grateful for what you have and
to live life to the fullest. Also to keep pushing through the hard times, soon good things will come out
of it because everything happens for a reason. Billie Jo s life was the one that you wouldn t call a
dream life to have. She had a really rough life. In the beginning of the novel, her family didn t have
much money at all which meant if someone was sick, injured, or even hungry it was hard to please
them. They also had a lot of dust that ruined their crops and what they all had, which also meant they
couldn t do anything about it because they had little and not a lot to thrive off of. Here are a few
examples of how she had a very unpleasant life. Billie Jo and her mother got burned very badly from a
pail of kerosene. This burned her mom s whole body while she was pregnant with a baby boy and it
burned Billie Jo s hands so harshly that it was almost impossible to play the piano. They could not

Civil Rights During The 20th Century
Today, we stand at a precipice threatening a definitive split between Blacks and Jews, and Jews of
Color and Jews. The recent platform of Black Lives Matters denounces Israel as an apartheid state. A
respect for the history of Black political thought demands we not forget Israel and Jews (of all races)
remain a vulnerable minority.
Jews and Black Americans are most often linked together during the 20th century Civil Rights
movement. These communities were victims of institutionalized discrimination and social shunning.
Jim Crow signage proclaimed: No Jews, No Dogs, No Negroes. At the height of the Civil Rights era,
Jews and Blacks marched together and were martyred during the Freedom Rides for voter
registrations.
The 19th and 20th centuries were filled with social and political change from the outlawing of slavery,
the Labor Movements advancement of workers rights, and WWI and WWII toppling of empires and
raising up new nations. Unfortunately, Blacks and Jews continued as subjects of racism and anti
Semitism, with increasing violence. Black enfranchisement was met with government sanctioned
White Supremacist aggression (such as the Klu Klux Klan). Similarly, the Holocaust highlights Jewish
vulnerability. Esteemed historian and Pan Africanist WEB Dubois exclaimed, Every child knows that
ancient Jewish civilization and religion centered in Palestine... When it comes therefore to an issue of

How Does Vitamin D Improves The Plyometric Performance
Research Question: Does Vitamin D improves the plyometric performance in young basketball
athletes?
Part 1
A fat soluble vitamin D is an essential vitamin which works as precursor steroid in biological and
metabolic processes happening in human body (1). Deficiency of Vitamin D has shown a verity of
adverse psychological, skeletal and muscular health issues (2). Vitamin D deficiency rate has been
increased remarkably from year 1994 to 2004. There are many factors responsible for this like sun
avoidance sunblock use which are mostly evident in athletes, and other factors like increase in obesity
rates which causes sequestration of vitamin D (3). Deficiency of Vitamin D is linked with many
musculoskeletal systems related health issues. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They came to conclusion that there is a significant co relationship between VO2max and 25(OH)D
(9). Vitamin D has also exigent effect on immune system, and inflammatory modulation, and it is also
essential for optimal muscle function, glucose metabolism, cardiovascular health and skeletal muscle
performance (10).
Part 3
Research has supported that maintained level of 25(OH)D in the range of 75 100 nmol/L and along
with other essential nutrients intake in proper amount like vitamin K is a key step for recovery as well
as performance (11). Supplemental vitamin D can improve recovery of force production following
intense activities and can also hinder the increasing biomarker which causes muscle damage (12).
After intense exercise, recovery in a peak isometric force can be enhanced by vitamin D
supplementation. The increased recovery in this isometric peak force provides information that
vitamin D is an essential modulating mechanism of weakness of muscle (12). All these studies prove
an interesting theme that vitamin D have potential effect on human metabolism and biological process
which can enhance multiple physiological benefits. Therefore, the purpose of present study was to test
the hypothesis that does Vitamin D improve plyometric performance in young basketball athletes.

Conflict In Freaks And Geeks
Freaks and Geeks is a show about the conflict s and pressure s of growing up. In this series the teens
face a number of conflicts such as trying to fit in, parental control, and peer pressure. Lots of teenagers
including myself have faced some of these problems. Everyone deals with some kind of conflict while
growing up it just depends on how you decide to deal with it and make the best of it. This allows me
to tell you how I and other teens have faced and dealt with some of the same problems that is shown
on Freaks and Geeks.
The first conflict that they were faced with in Freaks and Geeks was trying to fit in. I use to try to do
things like a certain group of people such as wear the same clothes or shoes to try to fit in. In the
show, Lindsay tried to fit in by riding around with the Freaks on Halloween destroying people s

Summary Of Margaret Atwood s Oryx And Crake
Oryx and Crake is a unique novel written by Margaret Atwood. It explores the United States, before
and after the entire human race is wiped out by a viral infection, through the eyes of a man named
Snowman who, before the outbreak, is known as Jimmy. While in high school, Jimmy meets another
boy named Glenn and the two became friends. They bond over weird hobbies including watching an
array of things ranging from open heart surgeries to pornography and online games. One day Glenn
and Jimmy need codenames for a game they are playing together. Glenn picks Crake for himself and it
stuck as his nickname for the rest of his life. After high school, the two boys went their separate ways.
Crake ends up creating a pill called BlyssPluss, which leads to the death of mankind, and his own
human like species that were named Crakers. Crake ends up dying and leaves the mess he created in
Jimmy s hands. This includes the Crakers. In this paper I argue that Jimmy truly cares about the
Crakers like a parent because of his miserable upbringing by his. Jimmy s mom left him and his dad
behind one day. Not only did she trash Jimmy s father s computer, but she took Killer, Jimmy s pet
rakunk and only companion, with her too. Atwood describes Jimmy s response, Jimmy had mourned
for weeks. No, for months. (Atwood, 61). Jimmy probably viewed his mother as the one person that
would always be there no matter what and is not supposed to hurt him, so when she did the opposite of
those two things,

Food And Non Alcoholic Beverages Industry Essay
Industry Background
SIC and NAICS
An industry as complex as the Food and Non Alcoholic beverages industry must be coded by
organizing smaller sub categories when referencing the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC)
system and the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). These systems categorize
industries using codes to aid in analytical research for Federal statistical agencies. (United States
Census Bureau, 2012). A quick search using key words or the actual code will allow the viewer to see
the definition and characteristics of the industry. For example, Soft Drink Manufacturing can be found
using the NAICS code 312111 or the SIC code 2086. Under the NAICS system, Soft Drink
Manufacturing is defined as, establishments manufacturing soft drinks and artificially carbonated
waters. (United States Census Bureau, 2012). The SIC code 2086: Bottled and Canned Soft Drinks
and Carbonated Water, is located under Division D: Manufacturing, in the sub category Major Group
20: Food and Kindred Products. By definition, this industry is comprised of manufacturing
establishments that specialize in the production of canned or bottled soft drinks and artificially
carbonated water, such as soft drinks, tea, or coffee. (Occupational Safety and Health Administration
[OSHA], 2012).

Swamp before they landed in San Juan de la Cienaga. During the flight they had a clear view of the
devastating effects of cholera, as there were bodies strew in the streets of the villages below. While
observing these scenes, Fermina couldn t help but feel as though she had been there before with her

All of the novel s protagonists are growing older and showing signs of age and none of them like it.
Dr. Urbino began noticing all of the symptoms that his older patients complain about, such as
insomnia and flare ups of pain, making an appearance in himself. When Dr. Urbino came to retrieve
Fermina from her cousin s, she feared that she looked so old and ugly...that he would regret having

The Outlaws In The Adventures Of Robin Hood
this group was renowned throughout England because they were chivalrous outlaws that stole from

were considered outlaws because the Normans forcefully took over England and made the Saxons pay
for everything they wanted no matter how poor it made their living so Robin started the band to rebel
against what was wrong. Robin and his Merry Men all were very chivalrous even though they were
considered outlaws they followed many of the rules of a knight including Defending the weak, to
protect women and children, and granting mercy to their enemies. The first honorable trait of a knight
was the act of defending the weak and the helpless. This could be seen in the movie when Robin
protects Much. This scene occurred when Much shoots a deer and Sir Guy tries to arrest him then
Robin comes in and holds Sir Guy at arrow point unless he leaves. Sir Guy then leaves and Much
joins his group due to a stranger defending him because alone he was weak and helpless. The next
example in the film was when Robin was showing Marian what the Normans did to the Saxons which
caused them to flee and live with Robin in the forest. This was an act of defense because he protected
the Saxons after the Normans took everything from them. He also fed them and ... Show more content

The first example was when Robin won the arrow he made sure to keep Marian out of the fire between

were captured by Robin Hood she was treated with respect and dignity whereas Sir Guy was treated
less respectfully. This was because Robin believed that women were a thing to be treasured and should
be treated as such. In the movie Robin never broke his code of chivalry to protect women and

Raymond Carver s A Small Good Thing
Raymond Carver s A Small Good Thing
Raymond Carver s A Small Good Thing, a short story that has to do with the lack of interaction and
empathy between the baker, Ann and Howard, the finale where the baker is startled to find out about
the child s death, asks for mercy and presents them warm cinnamon rolls telling them that Eating is a
small, good thing in a time like this and they are comforted, reveals particular significance of the title
in terms of the story s theme. Also, Raymond Carver s Cathedral, a story that starts with an ignorant

to Carver, A blind man in my house was not something I looked forward to, (38) has some ... Show

After the baker takes all the rage thrown on him by Ann, he in return begs for forgiveness and gives
the parents what they were lacking, that is food. The baker does all this even though he is alone and
virtually makes contact with anybody.
In Raymond s Cathedral, certain similarities can be drawn from the thematic content that is revealed in
both stories. In Cathedral, the theme is expansive, but the ones that are similar in both stories are
communication, and empathy.
The communication theme in this story is much more serious than the one in A Small Good Thing, the
reason being that the narrator has less or no communication whatsoever with his wife. This is vividly
shown in the story where the narrator says When the time rolled around, my wife went to the depot to
pick him up. With nothing to do but wait, I was having a drink and watching TV. (41) This deficiency
of intimacy, intercourse led the narrator to be ignorant but very thoughtful. However the narrator s
thoughtfulness did not lead him to understand that his lack of tolerance was much more serious than
he knew it was.
In A Small Good Thing, as mentioned earlier, after Howard returns home, the baker keeps on calling
him and telling him about the cake, but Howard tells him I don t know anything about a cake, Jesus
what are you talking about? Ann never tells Howard about the cake she ordered before Scott s

Female Genital Mutilation is Sexual Abuse Essay
Female circumcision, also known as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), is a very dangerous surgery. It
is done to girls of any age, from a few days old to right before their wedding. The most common age is
three. In most countries where
FGM is practiced the clitoris is considered dangerous to the man. At one point they thought that if a
penis touched a clitoris, it would shrivel up and fall off.
Girls in Africa and parts of Asia are genitally mutilated for family honor, cleanliness, protection
against spells, insurance of virginity and faithfulness to the husband, or to terrorize women out of sex.
In the late 70 s and early 80 s parts of
Europe and the United States used circumcision as a way to cure over sexed or

The third type,
Infibulation, is the most severe and harmful type. In infibulation, the entire clitoris and both labia are
removed. Then the remaining tissue of the vulva are pinned together by catgut or silk sutures. A tiny
slit, for urination and menstruation, is left open by inserting a sliver of wood, a matchstick, or reed
into the vagina. After the surgery, the girl is bound from hip to ankle and kept immobile for 40 days.
This allows scar tissue to form. All three types result in many harmful effects. Most of the effects of
FGM are caused by the surgery taking place in an unsanitary environment. Kitchen knives, scissors,
razor blades, or pieces of glass are the most common instruments used for the cutting. Unless
performed in a hospital, the cutting tool is generally rusty and very dirty. Instead of sterilizing the
instrument between surgeries, it is placed on dirt, ashes, or cow dung. This results in many infections.
Using the same tool on several girls also promotes the spread of HIV. Due to loss of blood and pain
many girls suffer from shock. Many women suffer from pelvic complications. Also urinary retention
and urinary tract infections are common among circumcised women. Due to loss of blood many of the
girls suffer from week bones, often resulting in fractures and breaks. The loss of the clitoris makes it
impossible for the woman to have an orgasm. If the person performing the

cultural history, translations of written work, and stories for children. In all his works, he was meant to
act and write as an expert of many different specializations where a diverse sort of narrative arises as a
result. His works are so diverse that Doreen Fernandez, when writing on Joaquin in the article Kilala
mo ba si Nick?, Fernandez, in attempt to create a blurb about the author had to examine whether she
was writing about the fictionist, the journalist, the biographer, the movie buff, the nostalgia kind, the
pop culture honcho, the Hispanita, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After which, an article evaluating Joaquin s work and style will be presented. Finally, reviews of two
of his works Culture and History and A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino will be used to dissect his style
further and analyze his work through the lens of time and adaptations respectively. Journal articles and
past theses will be used in tackling these topics.
The Eccentricities of Joaquin In Fernandez s article, she recounts her memories with Joaquin. The
article acted as a celebration of Joaquin s accomplishments and a celebration of his person. The article,
which in itself is an inside perspective on Joaquin s eccentricities, discusses the things about him that
could easily explain, if not give some justification, the unorthodox way of thinking that was prevalent
in his writing. Aside from his unorthodox way of thinking was his unorthodox way of writing. A point
that cannot be neglected when it comes to reading Joaquin is the language that he utilizes. Fernandez
quotes Joaquin directly when she writes, It seemed as the city itself, the Manila I knew, had been
invisible to our writers in English... These young writers could only see what the American language
saw. According to Doreen, Joaquin had seen the subject matter of his own work in English, therefore
the proper way to express it should be in the best way it is experienced or

The Similarities Of Charlemagne And The Medieval Age
During the time period of 400 A.D to 1500, otherwise known as the Medieval Age, there lived a
variety of important people to history, ranging from political characters to simple yet dangerous
travelers. Of all these important people, the political character Charlemagne and the cultural icon
Geoffrey Chaucer stand out as having many similarities and a few differences that are worth
describing in detail to really see how alike people in the Medieval Age really were.
One similarity between Charlemagne and Geoffrey Chaucer is that they were both the Father of
something. This title meant that the person of interest played a big part in a change that became the
new norm for the rest of history. Charlemagne was known as the Father of Europe and Geoffrey was
known as the Father of English Literature . Charlemagne was the former king of the Franks, king of
the Lombards, and was the first Roman emperor for the Holy Roman Empire. One of his reigns were
the Franks, which were a Germanic tribe in Belgium, France, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, and
western Germany. One of his main goals were to unite all Germanic tribes under one kingdom and
convert them to Christianity. It was because of Charlemagne that Christianity remained relevant in the
west because of all his efforts. Another one of his main goals was the Carolingian Renaissance, which
he wanted to be a cultural and intellectual revival of Europe. This meant that he wanted Europe to
become fuller of culture and intellectual

Bodily-Kinesthetic Argument Analysis
My highest score was 80 which was for Bodily Kinesthetic which means that I think of self expression
or the precision to achieve a goal. I actually do agree with the statement because I am a person who
always has a goal to be perfect and get to the top. Now I do agree with the statements that the Multiple
Intelligence Survey did give me my correct answers. As I said about the Bodily Kinesthetic was about
how to always be correct or perfect, but what it said my lowest skills was naturalistic, musical, and
logical. This statement is true. None of these things are skills that have ever come naturally to me. My
lowest result in this survey was naturalistic, musical, intrapersonal, and logical. My highest score was

answers. As I said about the Bodily Kinesthetic was about how to always be correct or perfect, but
what it said my lowest skills was naturalistic, musical, and logical. This statement is true none of these
things are skills that have ever come naturally to me. For example, it states in the text that It is about
being connected to who you are and how you feel, and knowing your own limits and abilities. This
means that people will know their limits in their lives and how they feel in their lives. Also, it says
logical means that they are more advanced at solving complex problems and that they are able to form
a more advanced understanding of relationships. Lastly, another one of my lowest scores was music.
This is for those type of people who enjoy making music or playing instruments. This is something
that does not describe me . I am not someone who enjoys playing instruments or making music. So
from the results that were given to me based off of my survey I am able to conclude that the results
were not at all surprising to

The Propaganda Model Of The Mass Media
Throughout society, the mass media constantly changes over time. The mass media play a prominent
role in informing the public about what occurs within the world, especially in areas which audiences
do not acquire direct experience and knowledge. This essay will argue that the propaganda model is
no longer valid as it has become outdated. This essay will also discuss the model in relation to the five
filters and draw on Rampton s critique of the propaganda model in contemporary society.
The propaganda model was developed by Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky in 1988. The
propaganda model was published in the book of Manufacturing Consent, sought to provide an
analytical framework that attempts to explain the behavioral and performance of the mass media in the
United States (Herman, 2000). Herman and Chomsky (2002) argued that the propaganda model
contains five filters which determine what is news . The first filter is the size, ownership, and profit
orientation of the media, which refers to the cooperation between the mainstream media and the large
conglomerate. The second filter is advertising, which refers to the mass media using advertising as the
central source of income. The third filter is sourcing, which refers to the mass media dependency of
information from the government, business and experts. The fourth filter is flak , which refers to the
negative response that discipline the media. The fifth filter is anti communism, which refers to the
control mechanism of the

To What Extent Does Access To Condoms Prevent Teenage...
Does access to condoms prevent teen pregnancy? I strongly agree that condoms do help the prevention
of teen pregnancy. Condoms should actually be placed in schools, doctor offices, community youth
centers and just about everywhere teens are found. I believe that everywhere teens hang out there
should be condoms available to them either free or little to no cost. The more access and availability to
condoms teens have the more they will use them to protect themselves and the less teen pregnancy and
STI rate they will have. Convenient condom access and availability simply helps our teens because
they will most likely receive education and confidentiality with those condoms. Also the financial
burden of purchasing condoms will be lifted from the teens. Parents and adults normally ... Show

The more education a teen has on sex and teen pregnancy, the less likely they are to become a mother
or father at the age of sixteen or younger. Most churches and doctor offices normally give out goodie
bags to teens. These goodie bags are normally filled with male or female condoms, coupons, and lots
of informational pamphlet s. These goodie bags are not only useful but very convenient for teens who
don t have a lot of time and feel like sitting in a two sex education class is torture. Also when giving
out condoms doctor offices and many other places try their best to give teens a very quick education
tips and lessons on teen pregnancy, STI s and the pros and condoms about using condoms. They do
this not to scare teens but to provide teens with the necessary and proper education to protect
themselves and prevent some of the negative outcomes that happen when you have unprotected sex.
Some of these pamphlets also provide statistics, teen pregnancy rates and sex educated teens versus
non educated teens. Over the years this education has been deemed very useful because today there is
a significant decrease in teen

Reflection On Being A Dietitian
My journey to become a registered dietitian has been longer and maybe more complex than the
average college students. As a first generation college student I was faced with many challenges that
to this day have shaped me in a unique way as a dietitian. During this year of my internship, I want to
be able to reflect on my own growth, strengths and weaknesses and be open to feedback to improve as
a dietitian.
Strengths
As a future dietitian, I can see in myself that I am passionate to work with he Hispanic community,
utilizing my Spanish speaking skills and working with low socioeconomic populations. Growing up as
low socioeconomic Hispanic community, I feel that I can relate to my community more than the
average health professional. I love working with children and getting to know them and their family.
As a health professional that will be working with trying to change dietary lifestyles, I think that
having that cultural competency with this particular community will always be useful. My Spanish
skills can help me gain the confidence of some of my patients or clients and find better ways to assess
their needs.
Another one of my current strengths would be that I am very detail oriented and specially in a clinical
setting, can be quite useful. Being able to pay attention to minor details can be the best way to assess a
patient and find the best method of working with them.
Furthermore, as an undergraduate student, I made sure to explore various areas of nutrition

He built Maier Park next to Doyles Bar and it is the teams home field. In which The Vernon Tigers
won three Consecutive league pennants. And after 10 years in 1919 Vernon went back and refocused

Food And Drinks In Roman Food
Food and drinks played an essential role in the life of a wealthy Roman citizen. Unlike other periods
of time food had an important social impact during Ancient Rome and the daily life of Ceaser.
However in many cultures breakfast, lunch and dinner were the three main courses of the day. A
wealthy citizens breakfast consisted of bread with olives or cheese and lunch was usually quick with
bread, cheese, and fruit (Ermatinger 1). Dinner was their main affair, and the largest meal of the day
(Ermatinger 1). It contained bread, vegetables, olive oil, cheese and meat (Ermatinger 1). Banquets
and feasts were also another elaborate way people would celebrate and enjoy their food (Moulton 27).
How the poor ate was quite unlike the wealthy. They had the duty of finding and preparing their dishes
in order for their families to eat. Wine was the favorite drink for both social classes and consumed
with most meals. The knowledge and responsibility of women in ancient history pertained mainly to
the preparation of food. Today, the writing of ancients and archeologists has given us insight about the
foods that were eaten, and the manner in which they were prepared. Their climate, soil, and terrain of
the region exposed that it was especially good for growing grains, legumes, beans, olive trees, and
grape trees (Moulton 3). Grain was their primary ingredient for making flour, which was used in the
most common foods eaten. Including varieties of bread, porridge, biscuits, and cakes. They

  • 2. Essay about The Turks and Mongols In order to discuss the movements of Asiatic peoples into Europe from the first inroad of the Huns to the conquests of the Osmanli Turks in the sixteenth century, it will be necessary to review briefly the events in central and eastern Asia which preceded and precipitated these incursions. From the time that the Irano Aryan ancestors had arrived in Russian Turkestan in anticipation of their descent into the hills of northwestern India, much of this grassy plain had been the home of those Iranians who remained behind while their kinsmen climbed the mountains which would take them into India and the Irano Afghan plateau. These Iranians apparently developed, or borrowed, a high degree of adaptation to their steppe environment, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When we view the Hunnish inroad into Europe in the light of the total context of Old World history, it ceases to be a strange inruption of hideous and invincible barbarians darting out of nowhere, as it at first appeared to the Byzantines and Romans. The Huns were a people who had been exposed to a high civilization that of China; they were cultured if illiterate, and in every sense the match of the frightened adversaries whom they met in Europe. When we examine the details of these invasions, we see that it was not one simple inroad, but a series of them in which a perplexing confusion of names is involved. Chief of the newcomers, after the Huns, were the Avars, who arrived in the sixth century. The Huns considered these their kinsmen and equals, and later amalgamated with them after the Avars had, in the eighth century, been defeated by Charlemagne and had retreated, some to Hungary and others to the Don country. From the fall of the Huns until the rise of the Mongols some thousand years later, the history of central Asia is simply a repetition of the same theme; some obscure sub tribe would become important, win leadership over the others, and head new invasions of increasing complexity. The history of southern Russia became extremely complicated, for the steppes of the Don country served as a terminal point for all but the most serious of these movements. After the Avars came the Turks, called ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. John s Wife Cause And Effect Thomas Moore once said, Those who plot the destruction of others often perish in the attempt. This is not what happen to John Wick. He prevailed in avenging his last gift from his dead wife, a dog named Daisy. This film was mainly about John and how he, in the end, obliterated his enemy. I will explain the cause and effect of this decision that Iosef made, and why this was such a terrible decision. First off the cause. The cause of John going berserk was Iosef. Iosef was a terrible person who though he was untouchable. He thought he could take what he wanted and killed who he pleased. This was correct until he killed John s puppy, which was a final gift from his dead wife, and stole his car. John was peaceful guy until he is provoked by people like Iosef. Just because John refused to sell his car to Iosef, he sole the car and killed John s dog Daisy by kicking her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John used to be a very good assassin. He escaped that life and got married, but his wife had a terminal illness which cut her life short. Anyway, the night of John s wife s death he received a puppy from a courier for a post office. The next morning they went out and they met a Russian, Iosef, which offered to buy Johns car. John refused and drove off. That night Iosef broke into John s house, beat up John, and killed John s puppy. The next morning found out who Iosef was and he got angry. John broke out his guns and his tools from under cement in the basement. Later he got a new car and went to search. He got a room in an assassin solitary, the Continental Hotel in New York City. The first place he looked was a club which Iosef s father owns. Iosef was there and John killed all Iosef s guards, but got injured. Back at the Continental John got stitched ... • 4. Argumentative Essay On Radiocarbon Dating Radiocarbon dating is a scientific procedure used to calculate the age of dead specimens by the rate of decay in their levels of C 14. Radiocarbon dating methods are deeply flawed and do not reliably determine the age of certain fossils or the earth. This is due to the assumptions that they are built upon. These assumptions include that the conditions on the earth have always been constant and nothing has ever caused the C 14 levels to fluctuate. These assumptions must be true for radiocarbon dating to be reliable. However, there is a plethora of evidence showing that these assumptions cannot be trusted. Radiocarbon dating is a heavily debated topic in the world today. This is primarily due to the powerful implications it has on people s belief systems. Christians and atheists alike view radiocarbon dating as important and need to be able to defend or support it. Findings through the process of radiocarbon dating can help prove or disprove people s beliefs about the world. Radiocarbon dating will always be a controversial method because of its impact on one s worldview. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For radiocarbon dating to accurately date anything no matter its age, two facts must be accounted for. The rate of decay of Carbon 14 and the amount of Carbon 14 in the creature at the time of its death must be known. The rate of decay of Carbon 14 can be determined by its half life, which is around 5,730 years. This means that every 5,730 years the amount of Carbon 14 in an organism is cut in half. As a result, the amount of Carbon 14 would eventually dissipate to nothing in every organism after its death. Because of this, radiocarbon dating has a limit to its accuracy. Many times, scientists will claim that an organism was dated to be many millions of years old. However, according to the half life of Carbon 14 and the limits that it possesses, this is ... • 5. The Organizational Structure And Performance Operant conditioning Learning occurs from a consequence of the behavior leading to operant conditioning. The major consideration is in influence of workers behavior through reinforcing important principles. Motivation is an internal cause of behavior that leads to satisfaction as an external cause (Walle, 2009). This is after a positive consequence following an organizational performance or production. Positive reinforcement covers anything that increases strength and response and includes thing such as bonuses, raises and promotion and more importantly encouragement or praise. The essence of having reinforcement helps in measuring modifications of behavioral that takes place. Organizations structures have an effect employee satisfaction hence production and performance. Despite this, the relationship between the structure and performance are experienced through different channels in work place (Edmans, Li, Zhang, 2014). This leads to evaluate through the organizational structure to performance of the firm through satisfaction of employees. The interests are connected to evaluation of problems of firms through the staffs and finally the performance results. In this study, it helps in identification of current problems that firms are facing in reflection of the structural organization. Involvement of the staffs in various aspects, introduces the motivational approach structure through which problems are solved. The influence of organization structure to the performance ... • 6. Counter Argument On Meditation Counter Argument Although admired by many very few of us truthfully know what meditation is. It is more or less mental activity aiming at shifting human concentration to something else; others consider that humans meditate when they visualize something that gives them peacetime or satisfaction. No matter what the scientific definition is, the goal is to slow down and, eventually, completely break the continuous activity of the human mind. Mariam Emara is supporting meditation powerfully as she is an Arhati Yogi, pranic healer and meditation instructor she is trying to transfer her knowledge to others and to inspire people to start practicing meditation. Although the writer of the article tried to promote the idea and practice of meditation, she relied more on her personal experience instead of scientific facts. She resorted to false assumption, logical fallacies and weak evidence from different cultures without explaining any of them. Essay about President Abraham Lincoln Although Abraham Lincoln was President over a century and a half ago (1861 1865), he is still considered to be one of our greatest Presidents, and his legacy remains important for the nation today. By the late 1800s, sectional tensions in America had led to a split between the Northern and Southern states. During the Antebellum period, the North became more industrialized as the South increased its agricultural production. The two sections developed differing economies and ideas and by April 14, 1861, at Fort Sumter, the tensions came to a head as the American Civil War began. His unyielding position on the preservation of the Union can be seen today as the nation is now known as the United States of America and includes the Southern regions that attempted to secede in the 1860s. Preserving the Union, however, was only one of the accomplishments of Lincoln that still has an impact today. In the 1820s, with the rise of expansion and agriculture in the South, slavery increased in America. During the Antebellum period, slavery continued to be a controversial issue dividing the North and the South and driving the diverging developments of the nation. With additional expansion in the 1840s, the question of expansion of slavery again raised sectional tensions and Northern radicals called for abolition while Southern radicals, or fireeaters, called for secession from the Union. Lincoln s original position on allowing slavery changed over the course of his presidency, and by the 1860s, Lincoln aligned himself with the abolitionists, calling for the immediate abolition of slavery. After the Battle of Antietam, on September 22, 1862, Lincoln announced his decision to abolish slavery in the states that claimed secession, and on January 1, 1863, Lincoln formally signed the Emancipation Proclamation. With this law, all slaves in the Confederacy were freed, and later those in the Border States and Union states were also freed with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Billy s father goes into them, the music stops and there is a tense atmosphere. In the end of the movie, when everything seems to evolve into Billy s favour, it s a love song that reflects Billy mood. I would say that the theme of the film is dreams and ambition. If you have dreams and ambition you can go far in life and make anything work. I also think that the theme is about talent. Everyone has a talent somewhere inside themselves it´s just that you have to wait for it to be founded. We can find both of these themes in the story of Billy Elliot. By chance he discovers his hidden passion for dance, and he really wants to continue to dance, and at the same time be accepted by his family. Personally I think that the film Billy Elliot is a good, special and different film from others I have seen. However, she is profoundly influenced by her Chinese ancestry. Faith has three sisters. Faith has a teaching degree and has taught in the private school sector. She can speak English, Mandarin, French, and knows sign language. Her ancestors moved from China to the Philippines due to a World War. Male children are valued more in the Chinese culture than females because males carry on the family name. Therefore, when Faith s mother was pregnant with her fourth female child she was offered to trade her child with a cousin s male child. Faith s parents refused to give up their daughter. The refusal to trade for a male baby was a significant disgrace for the family. Consequently, her father moved his family to the United States of America where her mother instilled the importance of education in each of her daughters. She considers her father s decision to move the family to the United States of America as a significant event that shaped her life. She feels that she and her sisters are much more educated than cousins that eventually moved to the country later in their lives. Faith possesses a fascinating set of life experiences along with an intriguing Chinese culture that has influenced her character. Portia was married to Brutus while Calpurnia was married to Caesar who had more power than Brutus. There are similarities between these two and also differences. Brutus and Portia marriage is based on equality. Calpurnia s marriage is based on the Roman marriage, where the man is in charge. Portia and Brutus s marriage was based on treating each other as equals and no one has power over another. First and foremost, Portia was only seen right after the important conversation between the conspirators. She was worried about Brutus, Dear my lord, Make me acquainted with your cause of grief (Act 1 Scene 2). She was worried because Brutus was not telling her what s going on and why he s keeping it a secret. When they swore to treat each other equal, it means not to keep secrets from one another. Also, Portia said, tell me your counsels, I will not disclose em (Act 2 Scene 1). Words define a life, but not a culture, stories can tell someone s life, but cannot be compared to a poem s way of describing a situation. In a way, a poem is none comparable to the incredible detail they give, with their way with words, a story and an image to represent to each individual that reads it. From this, imaginations take hold, all readers see everything differently. Today s world, poems are everywhere, yet nowhere at the same time. All of this thus far has described in such a way that can only be seen as an author showing his views of the world with many I s this is a first person perspective of an author truly sad with how change has differed the world he lives in. • 12. How Does Nathaniel Hawthorne Use Biblical Allusions In The... Throughout the Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses several biblical allusions to emphasize the Puritan society this novel was set in and give the reader a comparison of Hester to biblical figures, both holy and unholy. The Puritan society was one of strict adherence to the Bible and its teachings; consequently, Hester s sin is not easily forgiven. Through his use of biblical allusions Hawthorne provides the reader with a historical figure that portrays characteristics or aspects similar to that of Hester. Hester s curious child, Pearl, is both a blessing and a curse. She completely changed the course of Hester s life, at a great price. This is comparable to the pearl of great price, mentioned in Matthew 13:45 46. The pearl of great price refers to a man who would give up everything for a pearl, similar to Hester and her conveniently named child. From the moment Hester became pregnant with Pearl, she gave up her life, becoming an outcast, and being forced to live apart from the society. It was a great price for Hester to pay, but a mother s love is one of the strongest things on this Earth, and that can be seen through her actions. • 13. Designing A 3d Model Of 3d III. IS IT POSSIBLE TO VISUALIZE 4D? Some believe that it is impossible for us to visualize 4D, since we are confined to 3D and therefore cannot directly experience it. However, it is possible to develop a good idea of what 4D objects look like: the key lies in the fact that to see N dimensions, one only needs an (N 1) dimensional retina. Even though we are 3D beings who live in a 3D world, our eyes actually only see in 2D. Our retina has only a 2D surface area with which it can detect light coming into our eye. What our eye sees is in fact not 3D, but a 2D projection of the 3D world we are looking at. Figure III : Projection of 2D image In spite of this, we are quite able to grasp the concept of 3D. Our mind is quite facile at re constructing a 3D model of the world around us from the 2D images seen by our retina. It does this by using indirect information in the 2D images such as light and shade, parallax, and previous experience. Even though our retina doesn t actually see 3D depth, we instinctively infer it. We have a very good intuitive grasp of what 3D is, to the point that we are normally quite unconscious of the fact we re only seeing in 2D. Similarly, a hypothetical 4D being would have a 3D retina, and would see the 4D world as 3D projections. • 14. The Truth About Ghosts And Demons Essay Oren Peli once said, The thing I find really scary about ghosts and demons is tat ylu don t really know what they are or where they are. They re not very well understood. You don t know what they want from you. So it s the kind of thing you don t even know how to defend yourself against. Anything that s unknown and mysterious is very scary. Controversial topics range from global tragedies to the newest video game. One that has lived for centuries, is whether or not the supernatural and paranormal exist. Like every discussion, there are believers, and there are skeptics. Scientists tend to be the skeptics, while those with an adventurous mind tend to be those who believe that some other world being exist. Scientists use experimentation to give explanations as to why someone would have a paranormal experience, and most have been successful in what they were proving, but those who are believers also give excellent points to why their experiences have no scientific proof with them making it hard to choose a side. Since the dawn of time, there were ghosts, and every person has their own belief, but many might not know for sure because of the variety of explanations. French from the University of London calls belief in ghosts a misinterpretation of natural phenomena (French, October 2014, para 1). He explains that from a psychological perspective, it is almost impossible to believe in such an idea. Modern neuroscience has concluded that no consciousness could survive ... On the 26th of October, in the McNamara Alumni Center, I volunteered for two hours with the Fall 2017 Immunization Tour. My role in the tour, along with three other nursing students, was to stand in the entrance and show people where to go. Even in this small act, I felt as though I was making a difference. This experience was valuable to me in my future actions to become a nurse. The Immunization Tour notably focused and relied on the implications of safety. Essay on Philosophy of Christian Education The education of children has existed since the beginning of time as parents have taught and molded their children into the young adults they desired them to be. Initial training of children was not in a formal setting, although history would see numerous settings, purposes, and methodological changes. Philosophies of education have also changed through the years as various voices have seemed to grasp the purpose of educating the next generation, thus laying out objectives to reach those goals of teaching children. As Christian educators, we are in a partnership with moms and dads to help shape and disciple their children. It is the discipleship of children that propels believing teachers to devote their life to this vital ministry of Christian education. When it comes to the education of children, there are numerous fundamental factors, to mention a few: parents, teachers, the student himself, curriculum, methodology, culture, and the Holy Spirit. Students must first take responsibility for their own education and desire to learn. Even though this key educational factor is not a prerequisite for learning, all students must eventually hunger for learning or it will never take root in their lives. Responsible teachers must use responsible materials and methodology in order for purposeful education to have a lasting impact. Teachers must use their divine calling and materials that are not sugar coated, censored, vacuous and dry, nor merely politically correct (Holtrop) to challenge this current generation of students. • 34. Love And Cholera Chapter Summary 1. What is the relationship between love and cholera in this chapter? a. At the beginning of the chapter, Fermina and Dr. Urbino are part of a group riding in a hot air balloon. The course of the trip flew them over the Trojas in Cataca, banana plantations, and the Great Swamp before they landed in San Juan de la Cienaga. During the flight they had a clear view of the devastating effects of cholera, as there were bodies strew in the streets of the villages below. While observing these scenes, Fermina couldn t help but feel as though she had been there before with her mother at a very young age. This is the first mention of Fermina s mother and it seems clear that she misses her and loved her dearly. Fermina wished to return to her birthplace ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Dr. Urbino came to retrieve Fermina from her cousin s, she feared that she looked so old and ugly...that he would regret having come when he saw her like this (254). Florentino s increasing age is highlighted by baldness that bothers him greatly and false teeth that don t faze him at all. Fermina has aged the most because the affair and subsequent events took a huge toll on her. When she returns from her second trip to San Juan de la Cienaga, Florentino notes that Fermina s hair was graying, her eyes had lost some of their sparkle, and concluded that the last two years had been as hard on her as ten difficult ones (256). • 35. The Outlaws In The Adventures Of Robin Hood this group was renowned throughout England because they were chivalrous outlaws that stole from the rich and gave to the poor the movie The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) depicts it well. They were considered outlaws because the Normans forcefully took over England and made the Saxons pay for everything they wanted no matter how poor it made their living so Robin started the band to rebel against what was wrong. Robin and his Merry Men all were very chivalrous even though they were considered outlaws they followed many of the rules of a knight including Defending the weak, to protect women and children, and granting mercy to their enemies. The first honorable trait of a knight was the act of defending the weak and the helpless. This could be seen in the movie when Robin protects Much. This scene occurred when Much shoots a deer and Sir Guy tries to arrest him then Robin comes in and holds Sir Guy at arrow point unless he leaves. Sir Guy then leaves and Much joins his group due to a stranger defending him because alone he was weak and helpless. The next example in the film was when Robin was showing Marian what the Normans did to the Saxons which caused them to flee and live with Robin in the forest. This was an act of defense because he protected the Saxons after the Normans took everything from them. He also fed them and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first example was when Robin won the arrow he made sure to keep Marian out of the fire between the forces by giving himself up to Prince John and Sir Guy. This was because Robin believed that women were a thing to be treasured and should be treated as such. In the movie Robin never broke his code of chivalry to protect women and ... Raymond Carver s A Small Good Thing Raymond Carver s A Small Good Thing Raymond Carver s A Small Good Thing, a short story that has to do with the lack of interaction and empathy between the baker, Ann and Howard, the finale where the baker is startled to find out about the child s death, asks for mercy and presents them warm cinnamon rolls telling them that Eating is a small, good thing in a time like this and they are comforted, reveals particular significance of the title in terms of the story s theme. The baker does all this even though he is alone and virtually makes contact with anybody. In Raymond s Cathedral, certain similarities can be drawn from the thematic content that is revealed in both stories. In Cathedral, the theme is expansive, but the ones that are similar in both stories are communication, and empathy. The communication theme in this story is much more serious than the one in A Small Good Thing, the reason being that the narrator has less or no communication whatsoever with his wife. This is vividly shown in the story where the narrator says When the time rolled around, my wife went to the depot to pick him up. With nothing to do but wait, I was having a drink and watching TV. (41) This deficiency of intimacy, intercourse led the narrator to be ignorant but very thoughtful. However the narrator s thoughtfulness did not lead him to understand that his lack of tolerance was much more serious than he knew it was. In A Small Good Thing, as mentioned earlier, after Howard returns home, the baker keeps on calling him and telling him about the cake, but Howard tells him I don t know anything about a cake, Jesus what are you talking about? Ann never tells Howard about the cake she ordered before Scott s accident. Here the lack of communication theme is less serious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is done to girls of any age, from a few days old to right before their wedding. The most common age is three. In most countries where FGM is practiced the clitoris is considered dangerous to the man. At one point they thought that if a penis touched a clitoris, it would shrivel up and fall off. Girls in Africa and parts of Asia are genitally mutilated for family honor, cleanliness, protection against spells, insurance of virginity and faithfulness to the husband, or to terrorize women out of sex. The third type, Infibulation, is the most severe and harmful type. In infibulation, the entire clitoris and both labia are removed. Then the remaining tissue of the vulva are pinned together by catgut or silk sutures. A tiny slit, for urination and menstruation, is left open by inserting a sliver of wood, a matchstick, or reed into the vagina. After the surgery, the girl is bound from hip to ankle and kept immobile for 40 days. This allows scar tissue to form. All three types result in many harmful effects. Most of the effects of FGM are caused by the surgery taking place in an unsanitary environment. Kitchen knives, scissors, razor blades, or pieces of glass are the most common instruments used for the cutting. Unless performed in a hospital, the cutting tool is generally rusty and very dirty. Instead of sterilizing the instrument between surgeries, it is placed on dirt, ashes, or cow dung. This results in many infections. Using the same tool on several girls also promotes the spread of HIV. Due to loss of blood and pain many girls suffer from shock. Many women suffer from pelvic complications. Also urinary retention and urinary tract infections are common among circumcised women. Due to loss of blood many of the girls suffer from week bones, often resulting in fractures and breaks. The Similarities Of Charlemagne And The Medieval Age During the time period of 400 A.D to 1500, otherwise known as the Medieval Age, there lived a variety of important people to history, ranging from political characters to simple yet dangerous travelers. Of all these important people, the political character Charlemagne and the cultural icon Geoffrey Chaucer stand out as having many similarities and a few differences that are worth describing in detail to really see how alike people in the Medieval Age really were. One similarity between Charlemagne and Geoffrey Chaucer is that they were both the Father of something. This title meant that the person of interest played a big part in a change that became the new norm for the rest of history. Charlemagne was known as the Father of Europe and Geoffrey was known as the Father of English Literature . Charlemagne was the former king of the Franks, king of the Lombards, and was the first Roman emperor for the Holy Roman Empire. One of his reigns were the Franks, which were a Germanic tribe in Belgium, France, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, and western Germany. One of his main goals were to unite all Germanic tribes under one kingdom and convert them to Christianity. It was because of Charlemagne that Christianity remained relevant in the west because of all his efforts. Another one of his main goals was the Carolingian Renaissance, which he wanted to be a cultural and intellectual revival of Europe. • 44. The Propaganda Model Of The Mass Media Throughout society, the mass media constantly changes over time. The mass media play a prominent role in informing the public about what occurs within the world, especially in areas which audiences do not acquire direct experience and knowledge. This essay will argue that the propaganda model is no longer valid as it has become outdated. This essay will also discuss the model in relation to the five filters and draw on Rampton s critique of the propaganda model in contemporary society. The propaganda model was developed by Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky in 1988. The propaganda model was published in the book of Manufacturing Consent, sought to provide an analytical framework that attempts to explain the behavioral and performance of the mass media in the United States (Herman, 2000). Herman and Chomsky (2002) argued that the propaganda model contains five filters which determine what is news . The first filter is the size, ownership, and profit orientation of the media, which refers to the cooperation between the mainstream media and the large conglomerate. The second filter is advertising, which refers to the mass media using advertising as the central source of income. The third filter is sourcing, which refers to the mass media dependency of information from the government, business and experts. The fourth filter is flak , which refers to the negative response that discipline the media. The fifth filter is anti communism, which refers to the control mechanism of the ... The more access and availability to condoms teens have the more they will use them to protect themselves and the less teen pregnancy and STI rate they will have. Unlike other periods of time food had an important social impact during Ancient Rome and the daily life of Ceaser. However in many cultures breakfast, lunch and dinner were the three main courses of the day. A wealthy citizens breakfast consisted of bread with olives or cheese and lunch was usually quick with bread, cheese, and fruit (Ermatinger 1). Dinner was their main affair, and the largest meal of the day (Ermatinger 1). It contained bread, vegetables, olive oil, cheese and meat (Ermatinger 1). Banquets and feasts were also another elaborate way people would celebrate and enjoy their food (Moulton 27). How the poor ate was quite unlike the wealthy. They had the duty of finding and preparing their dishes in order for their families to eat. Wine was the favorite drink for both social classes and consumed with most meals. The knowledge and responsibility of women in ancient history pertained mainly to the preparation of food. Today, the writing of ancients and archeologists has given us insight about the foods that were eaten, and the manner in which they were prepared. Their climate, soil, and terrain of the region exposed that it was especially good for growing grains, legumes, beans, olive trees, and grape trees (Moulton 3). Grain was their primary ingredient for making flour, which was used in the most common foods eaten. Including varieties of bread, porridge, biscuits, and cakes. They ...
