Analysis Of The Rose That Grew From Concrete
Have you ever had that moment in life where you just want to give up, or cant take the bad stuff
anymore. Well I think we all have, since life really is no Crystal Stair . The poem Mother to Son is
about how life isn t always a crystal stair since the stairs are broken or have tacks and all that bad stuff
that is an obstacle you have to pass. The poem The Rose that Grew From Concrete is about a normal
rose that is growing from concrete where it seems impossible since it cannot provide nutrients but the
rose does it by persevering. Both poems share the theme of perseverance is the key but the authors do
that in similar and different ways. The authors developed the same theme in different ways and we can
still identify that Mother and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Rose is being strong and persevering to keep living. With life we can relate to this poem because
life throws problems at us like nothing and we have to keep persevering like the rose did when it was
growing in the concrete where there s almost no nutrients for it to eat off and die so maybe it could be
like someone homeless. They are living on the streets and have no food so they have to persevere in
order to live. Making up the theme of perseverance is the key. On the other hand, the author for
Mother to Son uses metaphor and conflict to develop the theme of perseverance is the key. With
metaphor being the stairs of life and conflict being the steps in the stairs that might be broken or with
tacks in it. Metaphor develops the theme of perseverance is the key in Mother to Son because the mom
uses the stairs to compare life and how it is difficult meaning you have to persevere. One piece of
evidence from the text is, Life for me ain t been no crystal stair. This shows the theme of perseverance
is the key because life isn t a crystal stair, it might have boards ripped out or tacks which represent the
problems while your facing while going up the stairs of life. This quote shows that the mother is
telling her son that life is no crystal meaning it s perfect with no problems or anything. Also, she is
saying life for her

Crime And Punishment And The Idiot Analysis
Everyone is the same, only different. People need the same things to survive, such as food, water,
shelter, and clothing, so in that sense, everyone is the same. Their differences come from their own
unique dispositions and temperaments. Crime and Punishment and The Idiot, two of Dostoevsky s
novels, have two very seemingly similar protagonists, creating an illusion for the readers. When in
reality, the characters can be labeled as being near opposites. Through the use of the novels of Crime
and Punishment and The Idiot, Dostoevsky creates the protagonists of each novel similarly, but alters
their destinies to differentiate them. It seems that Dostoevsky has created a pattern in his novels, as
they concern themselves with behavioral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alienation occurs to both protagonists of Crime and Punishment and The Idiot. Alienation can be
defined as the state or experience of being isolated from a group or an activity. For both Raskolnikov
and Myshkin, they are both isolated from society, whether society isolates them or they isolate
themselves from society. Raskolnikov isolates himself from society early on in the novel because of
his presumptuous mentality and theories. His extraordinary man theory dictates his life and motivates
him to commit a murder. In an explanation of his theory to Porfiry Petrovich, the murder investigator,
Raskolnikov says: I only believe in my leading idea that men are in general divided by a law of nature
into two categories, inferior (ordinary), that is, so to say, material that serves only to reproduce its
kind, and men who have the gift or the talent to utter a new word. (Crime 141) He labels those men
who have these gifts and talents as extraordinary men and places himself into that category. He
believes that he is the best and better than everyone else in the world. After murdering Alyona
Ivanovna, something unexplainable happens to Raskolnikov: Something was happening to him
entirely new, sudden and unknown. It was not that he understood, but he felt clearly with all the
intensity of sensation that he could never more appeal to these people in the police office with
sentimental effusions like his recent outburst, or with anything whatever; and that if they had been his

A Minor Disorder That Some Women Can Experience While...
This assignment is to research and review a minor disorder that some women can experience while
being pregnant. By understanding facts and demonstrating the physiological changes and adaptions
that occur in relation to pregnancy can create empathetic midwives. Focusing on education and
support through woman centered care and displaying primary health practices in a professional
setting.
Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (NVP) is common in the first trimester of pregnancy, it can be an
unbearable condition that affects several women. By the end of the first trimester 60% of cases
resolve, with 91% settling by 20 weeks of gestation. (Herrell, H. E.2014). Hyperemesis gravidarum is

Both men and women can feel anxiety of parenthood and when woman are having symptoms of NVP
this can result in absent work time, incomplete daily routines, managing to see friends or family and
caring for other children in the home. Pregnant women can be left feeling exhausted and unhappy, this
can then have some negative effects on family relationships, and some couples connections can feel
strained. If the woman is working she may also need to tell her employer about the pregnancy, this
may possibly be earlier then the women would have liked too. Generally this can be hard for some
women. Asking for help is also difficult as a result of this women can become stressed, which can lead
to sleep deprivation. Nausea can become worse if women are not getting adequate time for rest. Whilst
women feel unwell they may experience some weight loss, this is not uncommon especially if women
can not keep any food or fluids down. Weight gain will increase once the women can eat normally
again, if women feel unsettled about weight loss they can talk to a dietitian who may suggest specific
supplements.
It is unknown what the exact underlying pathophysiology of NVP is but it s believed to be
multifactorial and includes endocrine, gastrointestinal, cultural, psychosocial and environmental
factors. Reduced gastric esophageal pressure and delayed gastric emptying due to the effects of the
hormone progesterone (Jarvis S,

Mirrors In Black Mirror, By Charli Charlie Brooker
In our 21st century reality, new media and technology has transformed, with little resistance, almost
every aspect of daily life; redefining our reality. From plasma screens to monitors to smartphones, we
are constantly face to face with the black screens of our devices, or black mirrors . Canadian professor,
Marshall Mcluhan described media as artificial extensions of sensory existence, ; meaning, each
media technology functions as a prosthetic, working in conjunction with our minds and bodies,
allowing us to perceive more and reshaping our perception of the world (1969). This approach
emphasises the impossibility of fully understanding social and cultural changes in society without
understanding how media works as environments (Griffin, 2011).

World War II Essay
World War II World War II was a pivotal event of the 20th century and a defining moment for America
and the world. It shifted the borders of the globe. It forever changed those who lived through it, and
shaped generations to come. It has been called the last great war. Nothing could have prepared
the soldiers at Omaha Beach for the battle they are about to wage. Filled with hope and resolve, none
of them knows if they will survive the small strip of beach ahead of them. As his eyes scan the
Normandy coast, Captain John Miller (TOM HANKS) believes that getting himself and his men

Some recoiled at the graphic violence, others praised the realism, while some questioned whether war
is really like that at all. The percentage of an audience who can accurately comment is surely small.
What is abundantly clear is that in the massive body of films that deal with World War II, this is one
that pulls no punches. It consistently explores the unpredictable and random violence that engulfs and
blinds the men within it. The plot serves only to drag a squad of characters through uncharted peril
with few fitting the normal pre determined hero tag of war films. They re off on a PR mission to find a
Private James Ryan and take him home to his mother, who is shortly to learn that her other three sons
are dead.
While the men are constantly under threat from the Germans, they are not engaged in a key battle that
will help win the war. Without a major event to eclipse proceedings, a greater examination of each
man s personal fears is allowed to shine through. This is not a film that will please everyone and quite
rightly so. But no movie about any war can seek to provide answers to every question. What Spielberg
does is create a world of frightening carnage in which a small story is played out. As such, this is an
important film that deconstructs

There are a lot of conflicts that come up during the novel. One conflict that comes up in the novel very

The Waste Of The State Of America s Food Waste
Mr. Wisland, I have been doing research on food waste in Athens, Ohio. The goal of my research is to
find a plausible solution to the waste. To begin the gathering of information, I searched through the
Ohio University ArticlesPlus Database to find any journals that I could find pertaining to the state of
America s food waste, how we can make a difference, and what has already been implemented to
make a change. This was my way of looking at the amount of food wasted from a bigger perspective. I
found four sources on the issue as a whole, to which I have included in my annotated bibliography. All
sources have a primary focus on statistics of food waste in America, and finding a solution to the
problem that we have created. The statistics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The easiest way to reach all consumers at large would to host media campaigns through commercials,
television, news articles, and anything else along those lines. It is vital that consumers learn because
around 73% of consumers think that they waste less than the average person, however, there is still
over $165 billion worth of food wasted. From there, I knew that I had to dig into food waste just a bit
deeper to find the information that I needed pertaining to Athens, Ohio. I searched for sustainability
and food waste programs or groups on Ohio University s campus to find out just how bad food waste
is in our town. I found two different groups: Athens Food Rescue, and Athens Hocking Recycling
Center. Both of these groups have a similar mission, and that is to reduce food waste, promote
environmental health, and building a community around the food in Athens county that would
normally be thrown away. Athens Food Rescue was one of my favorite groups to listen to as they
collect surplus food from places around Athens and redistribute it to the homeless, hungry, or low
income people. In my opinion, this is the best solution to food waste in Athens, as we are living in one
of the most low income towns in all of Ohio. I learned that Athens Hocking Recycling Center offers
compost services throughout all of Hocking and Athens. They offer five, seven, or

Infringement Upon The Right Of Free Speech
Infringement Upon the Right of Free Speech
One of the most notable rights stated in our constitution is the right to free speech. That right is
engrained in the minds of every American since the creation of America itself, but currently the right
to free speech is being tossed aside in the fear of conflict with opposing ideas or offensive content.
College universities specifically have taken steps to impede upon this right through speech codes and
other acts that restrict the right to speak freely. American s growing infringement upon the right of free
speech in universities is creating a threat to American culture and the principles that it was founded
upon; In order for our citizens to withhold their individuality, opinions, and culture free speech must
be actively protected.
A speech code is any regulation that bans speech beyond the strict legal limitations of free speech.
Universities across America have placed speech codes and restriction upon their students that are
intended to protect students from offensive content or offensive opinions but these restrictions often
interfere with the first amendment. According to survey done by the Foundation for Individual Rights
in Education forty nine percent of all colleges in the U.S. utilize speech codes. Colleges in America
use these speech codes as a part of their student conduct rules and regulations, breaking a speech code
can result in serious discipline. An example of a speech code placed upon college students

The Unites States Education Reform
The Unites States Education Reform
The United States Board of Education fosters the mission statement to, promote student achievement
and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal
access (U.S. Department of Education). The United States currently uses standardized test to serve as
a knowledge check point. The system then compares the test results to develop a black and white
curriculum for all students, failing to include aspects of different learning techniques. The
standardized results provided excellent information about students ability to comprehend a statement
and regurgitate an answer by filling in A, B, or C. The tests fail to promote creativity and diverse

As stated in the Atlantis, one of America s leading political magazines, Finland s success is especially
intriguing because Finnish schools assign less homework and engage children in more creative play
(Partanen). So how is Finland consistently turning in some of the highest test results? Could the
United State s k 12 education ever adapt to reform its system to reflect Finland s suggests? To improve
the United States current education, schools need to find an alternative to standardized tests and make
classrooms more interactive. The curriculum needs to be focused on students futures to prepare them
for the 21st century, not the past.
Prince EA, a motivational filmmaker, poet, and speaker, made a YouTube video about the United
States education system, he opens with a quote from Albert Einstein that states, Everybody is a genius.
But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
To put this into perspective, standardized tests represent the tree and students represent the fish. Most
students don t process information in the same way. In Fact, it s widely accepted that different
approaches to learning have numerous advantages to stimulate students learning motivation (Proulx
etc.). Many modern day U.S. schools use digital game based learning. This approach, integrat[es]

Examples Of Imperialism
Imperialism is a policy of extending a country s power and influence through diplomacy or militaristic
force. Often times, it involves the complete usurpation of a country s power and involuntary
renouncement of people s rights. This idea is expressed in works such as Shooting an Elephant by
George Orwell, The Wretched of the Earth by Fanon, An Open Letter to His Serene Majesty, A
Tempest by Cesaire, and The Strangehold of English Lit by Mnthali. These writers all portray
imperialism as a discriminatory act in which the well being of imperialists are given significance over
the imperialized. In the ideal case of imperialism, the imperialized and imperialists are accommodated
equally. However, all these cases of imperialism, as depicted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In William s An Open Letter to His Serene Majesty Leopold II, he depicts the inhumane conditions
that Africans are subject to by stating that there are only three sick sheds for Africans, not fit for horse.
(pg 120) Williams creates a clear illustration of the Africans who are living in animal accommodating
environments. Ideal imperialism has uniform distribution of wealth between the natives and
imperialists, but in William s account, human interaction is being restrained by the deliberate creation
of rifts and boundaries in economy. The natives are relegated to servant like positions in society.
William s structuring of his opinions as a letter rather than an article suggests that he assuredly
believes in economic equality by structuring it as a personal work rather than an informational one.
Fanon supports William s conclusions when he states that the zone where the natives live is not
complimentary to the zone inhabited by settlers. (pg 131) He advocates that the economic value of the
settlers habitat doesn t equal that of the natives. Fanon also provides a comparative depiction of the
imperialist wealth when he states that the settler s town is a strongly build asphalt. (pg 131) He
delineates their town as notably wealthier than that of the natives, whose town was described as
impoverished by Williams. Both authors show that the natives are being neglected economically. This
economic inferiority of the natives develops a discrimination and restrains the human interaction
between the two races. Psychological changes affects human interaction by the degradation of native
s self depiction. In imperialism, the imperialists disparage and mistreat the natives and ultimately
create psychological changes. We can see this shift in Cesaire s A Tempest when a native slave,
Caliban, says In your

Dog Ticks Research Paper
Dog ticks and fleas
Having dogs and cats at home brings about those unwanted visitors that not only affect our pets, but
also us. In addition, they can cause diseases in animals and also in people. Therefore, you must
prevent them from proliferating in your home. Know the best remedies to eliminate fleas and ticks
naturally.
Where can my dog catch ticks and fleas?
The tick is an external parasite (ectoparasite) of the family of arachnid mites. Its size and colour vary
according to its species. Ticks are, along with fleas, the most common external parasites in the can.
Small in size they measure a few millimeters and with eight legs, they feed on the blood of the

The best weapon against them is prevention, among others, through proper brushing and hygiene.
When the heat arrives, one must be more alert than ever to locate the possible presence of these
parasites and rid the dog of its attack.
It is possible to buy specific products, for sale in different formats: pipettes, necklaces or sprays. It is a
matter of choosing the right product to combat fleas and ticks in dogs and that has a quality tested and
endorsed by the laboratories that manufacture this type of anti parasite.
Check the dog s coat regularly, especially in spring and summer, when ticks and fleas are more active.
Maintain proper hygiene of the dog, with regular brushing of the coat and with baths. The latter do not
have to be very frequent, but they can be carried out with specific antiparasitic products.
Never use antiparasitic products that are not suitable for dogs.
Ticks and fleas, especially the first ones, are a focus of diseases, so you must prevent their attack and

Essay On Partisan Animosity
Why do political candidates, like Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, sacrifice their morals and alter
the moral fabric of society by using dirty tricks and maneuvers, twisting the truth, and telling outright
lies? Partisan animosity has escalated to the point where, the simple two word comment, a pen
(Brandon), by a 14 year old, sparked an attack filled with vicious name calling and animosity. Such is
the case with Gabe Fleisher from Missouri, who posted the two word comment as a response to the
following tweet posted by Donald Trump, a billionaire businessman, and Republican presidential
candidate: Why is this reporter touching me as I leave news conference? What is in her hand??

In fact, they are the norm, rather than the exception. The election of 1800 between Thomas Jefferson
and John Adams is one such campaign. Jefferson, through the use of James Callender, a pamphleteer
who was one of his supporters, used one of the oldest tricks against Adams: spreading outright lies
about his opponent. Callender alleged that Adams wanted to go to war with France and also depicted
him as a hermaphroditical character, which has neither the force of a man, nor the gentleness and
sensibility of a woman. (Freeman). Reputation soiled and credibility destroyed, Adams was no match
for Jefferson, who ended up winning the election. Another example of a contentious presidential
campaign occurred in 1964. Barry Goldwater was running as the Republican nominee and had his
campaign slogan, In your heart, you know he s right. was altered by his Democratic foes into In your
guts, you know he s nuts. (Kertscher). The implication of mental instability did not do Goldwater any
favors, and he ended up losing the election. At times, the animosity and vitriol are such that physical
violence has occurred, as is the case of U.S. Senator Charles Sumner of Massachusetts. In 1856, three
days after giving a speech which criticized pro slavery southerners, Sumner was beaten on the Senate
floor by U.S. Representative Preston Brooks of South Carolina. As a result of the severe beating,
Sumner was not able to return to the Senate for three years (Freeman). These are but three examples of
the plethora of incidents caused when candidates or elected officials engage in sharply polarizing
discourse in the pursuit of their own

feeling different. The themes of the novel, such as knowing your place in the world, are
communicated by Coraline s responses to conflict and development. Readers are positioned to respond
positively to Coraline by the use of characterisation, interior monologue and setting.
Knowing your place in the world is an extremely important issue for young children that Neil Gaiman
explores in depth throughout the book. At the beginning of the book, Coraline is ignored and feels like
a young child. Coraline believes her name is a main part of her identity and therefore tries to make
sure everyone remembers it,
No, said Coraline quietly, I asked you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gaiman is able to make the reader think about how important a child s place in the world is by using
interior monologue and setting. Interior monologue helps the reader understand how Coraline feels
and shows the reader how she has matured throughout the book. Coraline s interior monologue
becomes more mature and sophisticated the further along the story the reader goes. This helps the
reader realise that identity and self worth are important within a child s life and can change the type of
person they are. Setting helps the reader realise the innocence of a child s mind and why self esteem is
so important. The Other World can be argued as a fragment of Coraline s imagination, something she
created within her hours of boredom. This theory highlights to the reader that a child s imagination is
important but can also be deadly. When a child has low self esteem, such as Coraline, their rejection
can result in horrible day dreams and detachment from the real world. Neil Gaiman has woven
messages within messages and has been able to highlight an extensive range of issues within one
novel. In conclusion, by using interior monologue and setting, Neil Gaiman is able to communicate
messages, such as a child s place in the world, to the

Symbolism In Snowpiercer
In Snowpiercer fish are symbolic of life. Both the fish and the people are stuck on the train, the fish
cannot leave the aquarium as the people on the train are supposed to stay in their designated cars.
They both eat the same food that is designated to them day after day, for just enough nutrition to live.
As well as both the humans and the fish are closely monitored to ensure there is no overgrowth in
population. Curtis and the rest of the people included in the revolution make it far up the train, but in
one car, there is a small army of masked men with axes. Before the battle takes place, the masked men
pierce their axes through a fish, perhaps to intimidate the rebels, or to poison them with mercury from
the fish. It seems the strongest

According To The New American Standard Bible Exodus
Breaking news! A man named Moses just experienced a life change event. He claims that God came to
him through a burning bush. Moses stated after this miraculous event to a reporter near Mount Horeb,
There was an angle in the distance coming from a flaming bush that was not being consumed. He was
astonished by this and decided that he must go over and experience this event. Moses also said, It was
God. He called me to remove my sandals for it was holy ground. According to the New American
Standard Bible Exodus 3:15 16, God told Moses that His name is I am who am and that He is the God
of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Not only has God amazed many around the world through this burning
bush, but there is even more to Moses story that is life changing. Moses told us that God has instructed

The Israelites have been enslaved for about 215 years and they have lost all hope for freedom. One
Israelite said, If you really saw God, why has he waited so long to save us. We have been suffering for
so long that this event is too unexpected to believe. To answer this question, according to the New
American Standard Bible Exodus 3:7 8 God said to Moses, I have witnessed the affliction of my
people in Egypt and have heard their cry against their taskmasters, so I know well what they are
suffering. Therefore I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them
up from that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey, the country of
the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Girgashites, the Hivites and the Jebusites.
Even though many are not sure if this miraculous event actually took place, the Israelite people are
excited for small, yet possible chance at freedom. This land God has promised is all the Israelites

The First Woman Out Of Three
Ever since Darwin proposed the hypothesis that man and apes have common ancestry, the study of
Primatology has been a main focus in the world of science. Wether or not the scientist were studying
the relationship between ape and human or studying the basic way of life of apes, the study of
Primatology has proven to be controversial and the subject of ridicule to its early pioneering scientists.
In the past century, technology severely limited the study of primatology which means the scientist
had to resort to gorilla tactics to study apes, and go into the jungle themselves. So, scientist like Jane
Goodall, Birute Galdikas, Eugene Dubois, and Raymond Dart endured much ridicule at the time for
their groundbreaking discoveries, but still paved the way for modern day anthropologists. Scientists
current understanding of apes and their relationship to humans would not be the same today had it not
been for the valiant efforts put forth by these firsts few.
Jane Goodall is the first woman out of three, known as the Trimates, to be sent by Louis Leakey, to
study primates in their natural habitat. During her expedition, Goodall studied chimpanzees. She was
the first person in history to ever to record the way chimpanzees act in their natural habitat. She
observed them eating animals they hunted, eating other monkeys, and using tools to acquire more
food. After, announcing her major discoveries Goodall was met with criticism by other researchers
because of her lack of using

Gender Neutral Kids Clothing
Gender Neutral Kids Clothing Gender neutral is a term that is used when something is neither for male
nor female. It is for whoever wants it. One thing that people have been wanting to become more
gender neutral in recent years are kids clothing. People no longer want their son to just have to wear
trucks and space. They want him to be able to wear flowers and pink. People also want their daughters
to be able to wear things about space and things more associated with boys. Many parents have started
their own clothing lines that only have gender neutral clothing. In recent years major retailers such as
Zara and Selfridges have introduced a unisex clothing line. The clothing can be pink and purple with

Louis Armstrong Concert Analysis
Watching Louis Armstrong s live performance in Berlin during the year 1965 was a pleasure,
especially because I am a great fan of his music. Throughout the concert in Berlin, Armstrong and his
chamber orchestra played 13 different pieces. With the exception of Jewel Woods entrance on vocals
for two songs, the makeup of the chamber orchestra did not change throughout the concert. As a
result, the cello, clarinet, drums, piano, trombone, and trumpet remained vital parts of each song
throughout the concert.
Armstrong and his All Stars quickly began their first song, Sleepy Time Down South, before formally
introducing themselves. This song allowed the audience to prepare for the concert as the tempo was
consistently adagio. The song also gave each instrument in the chamber orchestra the opportunity to
each warm up with a song that was completely dolce and legato in fashion.
Next, the chamber orchestra quickly transitioned to a vivace song that was performed con fuoco and
was named Indiana. In this song, every instrument was given an uptempo solo to showcase the
performer s immense talent. The dynamic throughout was forte in fashion and did not vary from
beginning to end.
After Indiana was performed, the chamber orchestra transitioned to a more dolce and pesante Black
and Blue. Throughout this song, each performer played softly, keeping the dynamic at a piano level
until Armstrong s trumpet began to raise the dynamic to a more mezzo piano level. The song s

The Pirates Of The Caribbe At Worlds End
Do you know how much work is put into making a film? Neither do I, but I helped direct a play so I
understand a good portion of it. Film making is not just getting a cast, handing them a script, and start
rolling the camera. It takes time, skill, and key elements to not only get the production ready but to get
across a message to the viewer. In The Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (2007), Gore
Verbinski creates a visual and brings the viewer in on how it would feel like to be a pirate in a place
where you are not wanted or accepted. By using the three main formal elements mise en scene,
cinematography, and sound he makes you feel you are in th emovie for yourself. Without knowing
what these elements are or maybe knowing only the bare minimum you, may feel the movie is great in
general, but after reading and analyzing the step by step process on what it takes makes it even better.
Captain Jack Sparrow is last one of Pirate Lords of the Brethren Court who is needed to come together
to fight for the freedom of the pirates way of life. The opening scene is the most important and most
powerful because it sets a foundation for the rest of the film. In Fort Charles Port Royal, Lord Cutler
Beckett is doing a mass execution of pirates and pirates sympathizers. This is the beginning of the war
he started against piracy as he tired to gain control of the Dead Mans Chest. As people are lined up at

Intellectual Property And Copyright Property Rights Essay
Introduction
When we use our mind as the intelligent humans we are, sometimes out of that comes Intellectual
property. Intellectual property is an idea that was created by one with the intention to trademark,
copyright or patent the creation they have made. There are many forms of intellectual property that
exist ranging from artistic sides to mechanical sides and etc. With those many forms intellectual
property is broken down into two factions, industrial property and copyright in which all the forms of
intellectual property lye somewhere in those two factions. To understand intellectual property a little
more we need too look at the two and break down the factions. Also take a look at the protection and
the laws that pertain to copyright, trademarks, and patents.
Discussion
The term intellectual property refers to the innovations of the human mind. Intellectual property rights
protect the interests of these innovators by giving them property rights attached to those ideas. The
term intellectual property rights stands for these legal rights that authors, inventors, and other creators
have. Intellectual property laws relate to a particular way in which ideas or information is expressed or
displayed, but not the actual ideas or exact concept itself. The first use of the expression intellectual
property appears to be October 1845, in Davoll vs. Brown, a patent case in Massachusetts. Justice
Charles Woodbury said that only in this way can we protect

However, as one looks to the future, technology will play an essential role in enabling the desired
changes. Technology will help make feasible the new logistic capabilities needed to support future
industrial concepts and the type of efficient, responsive logistic system that business forces will
demand .[1] Traditionally, China is a country with relatively weak formal institutions; more
importance is given to informal constraints, e.g. personal relationships. As a result, Chinese companies
rely upon a network based strategy of growth, based on personal trust and informal agreements among
managers. These are important considerations for managers when forming business relationships and
designing their supply chains in China. Although customers are spending more on average for logistics
outsourcing, the percentage of budget devoted to outsourcing logistics, and the services outsourced,
haven t changed dramatically over the past several years. Companies continue their general tendency
to outsource relatively commoditized services .[2] As a result of the market shift from cost driven to
quality driven in the near future, the strategies for logistics service providers will include: more
flexibility, quicker handling, better price stability, higher transparency and increased professionalism,
in order to meet the challenges. The next five years will see a significant increase in outsourcing
activity. 3PLs will be the main beneficiaries of this process and as the

Odysseus As An Epic Journey In The Odyssey By Homer s Odyssey
Influenced by the title of The Odyssey by Homer, an Odyssey is defined as an epic journey. The
Odyssey, by Homer and translated by Robert Fagles, explores the epic journey of the title character
Odysseus on his voyage home from the Trojan War. However, the first four books of The Odyssey
focus on Odysseus s son, Telemachus, and his journey to become the true son of Odysseus (2.2). This
role requires Telemachus to emulate the qualities that Odysseus held while the king of Ithaca prior to
the war. The growth and development necessary occur when Athena inspires Telemachus to venture

Telemachus embarks on is important because it forces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aegyptius, the father of a soldier who fought alongside Odysseus and died, spoke first stating Not

indicates that in the twenty years that Odysseus has been gone, Telemachus has failed to take charge
until now. In this meeting, Telemachus demands that the suitors cease their efforts to win over
Penelope. Ultimately, his demands have no results, but the attempt is still something new. This change
in behavior proves character development into the true son of Odysseus. These situations that
Telemachus is placed in force Telemachus to establish authority, thus helping him become the true son

Telemachus s first destination on his journey is to Pylos. Here Telemachus is to speak with King

becomes very nervous about the task in front of him. He expresses his concerns to Athena saying,

Articles Of Confederation Rhetorical Analysis
One of the most important documents written in American history, the Articles of Confederation, was
crucial to the foundation of American principles. However, there were many inherent flaws in its
making, which were addressed by a few different leaders. The Articles of Confederation paved the
way towards a successful country, but some of the problems would have sent the country backwards.
One of these problems was that for an amendment to be made to the Articles, every state would have
to agree, and Rhode Island never sent delegates to conventions to discuss these amendments. This
meant that there could never be flexibility in the amendments even when necessary. This dilemma
forced many elites of America to come together and completely rewrite ... Show more content on

10 was one of the main factors that allowed for the ratification of the modern constitution and
government system. Idealistically, Madison s ideas about government are possibly the best possible
solution to the conflict of factions, yet in reality, Federalist No. 10 has been manipulated in ways that
separate people more than unite them. While Madison is probably right in that republicanism is better
than simply a popular democracy, his writing essentially did nothing but flip the party in power.
Before, the power was held by the majority common people, which was bad because only their
interests were being addressed, but after Madison wrote Federalist No. 10, the elite group was the
group from which delegates were being elected. Madison was one of the property owners, and he
feared that the common sort would prevent him from remaining in power so he had to switch the way
the system worked. Through his rhetorical analysis he convinced the people that electing delegates
was the way to go, and in the end only the members of the elite group were elected. He wanted a
government that protected the rights of the rich property owners from the common sort and he was
successful in doing so. He says a rage for paper money will hinder the abilities of those elected and
therefore should not be. This prevented anyone who was poor from being elected. Now, Madison also
makes the assumption that the people elected will somehow throw

Lord Of The Flies And Animal Farm Comparative Analysis
Savagery restricted in society in Lord of the Flies: annotated bibliography Gulbin, Suzanne. Parallels
and Contrasts in Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm. The English Journal, Vol. 55, No. 1, Jan.1966, pp.
86 88+92. The fundamental objective of this scholarly article is to compare and contrast the two
controversial novels Animal farm and Golding s Lord of the Flies. When writing this piece the author
had several points, such as how the two books reflect society, how each book has a specific incident
that results in the breakdown of the established order, dissension between the protagonist and
antagonist, and four more strong compelling ties between the stories. However, for my research only
one comparison was useful to my point and that would be how in both stories there is a transformation
between humans and savages. When writing this comparison the author discusses civilization s role in
this process. She claims that in Lord of the Flies Golding creates the idea that every man is part savage
and that savagery is concealed only by the barrier of civilization and sociological norms. The author
also presents the idea that these restrictions society implement are very fragile, stating that it only
takes a couple of people to revert back to savagery to turn a group of people into animals. This is
shown by the pig s head that was mutilated by flies, which symbolizes the evil and degenerate in man
and particular in Jack, who as a pig or savage, becomes lord of nothing

The Educational Philosophy of John Dewey John Dewey is known as leader of the progressive

and free is the interplay with other forms of association? By applying these two questions, the natural
conclusion of the ideal society is democratic, that is to say one that offers its citizens the freedom of
expression and communication. If a democracy represents an ideal society that presents the maximum
number of common interests and the maximum opportunities for association with other societies, then
it also represents the ideal society in its potential for growth. Any society with a near limitless
potential for growth must redefine the concept of knowledge in order to gain efficiencies in its
education system. Previous attempts at defining knowledge were flawed, in the mind of the
Progressivist, by directly stating or implying a division or duality that presents a barrier to free
intercourse of ideas. Examples of these dualities are that of different classes within a society such as
rich vs poor, noble vs lower class, ruler vs ruled or that of the physical vs metaphysical worlds. Any
duality serves to separate knowledge from action, a continuity which is proclaimed as ideal. Any piece

Critiques And Criticisms Of Porter s Five Forces Model
Question 2 : This part of the research covers a brief information on Porter s and his five forces model,
a number of critiques to the model , examples of a noncompetitive organization applied Porter s model

How competitive forces shape strategy about his five forces framework which he developed to help
industries to determine their long term profitability, although it is a useful framework which is used
until today because of its simplicity to understand and to implement. However, a number of criticisms

The American Company Called Amazon
1) Introduction In order to carry out this research, I have chosen the American company called
Amazon. It is a well known, web based international retailer which is based in Seattle, Washington. 2)
Product Description Amazon started out as a simple web auctions based service in kind to eBay, but
failed to cut into the market share. The company then became a marketplace for fixed price goods
much like an online retail website with a small collection of goods for sale. Over time it started to
develop its product line and range by supplying DVDs, CDs, software, apparel, beauty products,
groceries, health care products, kitchen supplies, jewelry, musical instruments and other items
(Mudambi and Schuff, 2010). The website was able to provide an online platform to these products.
As the company matured, it expanded its retail services and then also developed delivery services of
its products to people s doorsteps at the prescribed time. Demand and Future Outlook The basic nature
of the demand curve will always be negatively sloped as people would be willing to demand less at
higher prices and higher at lower prices. The factors which can affect the demand curve and cause it to
shift for Amazon will include number of buyers. As buyers in the market increase, the curve will shift
outwards as more people will be willing to buy at the same price. As the income of the people also
rises, they would be able to afford more products from Amazon so they will buy them shifting the

Timeless Pursuit Of Perfection In The Birthmark By...
The Birthmark , by Nathaniel Hawthorne, symbolizes Man s timeless pursuit of unattainable
perfection and the fear of being unworthy of our possessions. Entwined throughout the story are the
ideas of giving into vulnerability, shame, and a lack of authenticity and courage. Aylmer seemingly
has admiration for the love and beauty in his wife, yet something within him is unable to rationally
deal with her as she is. Although perfect in her beauty, she is marred by a mark that is visible to the
world and especially to him. If Hawthorne were alive today, his work could be a reflection of life
today in our society, where we can t appreciate the fruits of our labor, but only focus on manipulating
the one unnoticeable ailment based on our own skewed perception. ... Show more content on

He fails to realize that the weakness he sees is actually his own true strength. He is the manifestation
of an unhappy, childish man with a complex that he forces upon his seemingly unaware wife. Aylmer s
ring of gold that he actively attempts to turn into brass in the search of his perception of perfection. All
the while, he does this with the love of a cold heart as he pushes the envelope to attain perfection,
even unto death. In a failed attempt, Ayler uses his pursuit of perfectionism as a shield to hide his own
lack of self esteem at the expense of those around him. What he is seeking from his wife symbolizes
how society floods people with unattainable expectations around every aspect of life, which causes us
to be unsatisfied with the inner beauty and strength that is already contained within. However, it is the
rationalization of his behavior, by his wife, that further accelerates his need to act as

  • 2. Analysis Of The Rose That Grew From Concrete Have you ever had that moment in life where you just want to give up, or cant take the bad stuff anymore. Well I think we all have, since life really is no Crystal Stair . The poem Mother to Son is about how life isn t always a crystal stair since the stairs are broken or have tacks and all that bad stuff that is an obstacle you have to pass. The poem The Rose that Grew From Concrete is about a normal rose that is growing from concrete where it seems impossible since it cannot provide nutrients but the rose does it by persevering. Both poems share the theme of perseverance is the key but the authors do that in similar and different ways. The authors developed the same theme in different ways and we can still identify that Mother and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Rose is being strong and persevering to keep living. With life we can relate to this poem because life throws problems at us like nothing and we have to keep persevering like the rose did when it was growing in the concrete where there s almost no nutrients for it to eat off and die so maybe it could be like someone homeless. They are living on the streets and have no food so they have to persevere in order to live. Making up the theme of perseverance is the key. On the other hand, the author for Mother to Son uses metaphor and conflict to develop the theme of perseverance is the key. With metaphor being the stairs of life and conflict being the steps in the stairs that might be broken or with tacks in it. Metaphor develops the theme of perseverance is the key in Mother to Son because the mom uses the stairs to compare life and how it is difficult meaning you have to persevere. One piece of evidence from the text is, Life for me ain t been no crystal stair. This shows the theme of perseverance is the key because life isn t a crystal stair, it might have boards ripped out or tacks which represent the problems while your facing while going up the stairs of life. This quote shows that the mother is telling her son that life is no crystal meaning it s perfect with no problems or anything. Also, she is saying life for her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People need the same things to survive, such as food, water, shelter, and clothing, so in that sense, everyone is the same. Their differences come from their own unique dispositions and temperaments. Crime and Punishment and The Idiot, two of Dostoevsky s novels, have two very seemingly similar protagonists, creating an illusion for the readers. When in reality, the characters can be labeled as being near opposites. Through the use of the novels of Crime and Punishment and The Idiot, Dostoevsky creates the protagonists of each novel similarly, but alters their destinies to differentiate them. It seems that Dostoevsky has created a pattern in his novels, as they concern themselves with behavioral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alienation occurs to both protagonists of Crime and Punishment and The Idiot. Alienation can be defined as the state or experience of being isolated from a group or an activity. For both Raskolnikov and Myshkin, they are both isolated from society, whether society isolates them or they isolate themselves from society. Raskolnikov isolates himself from society early on in the novel because of his presumptuous mentality and theories. His extraordinary man theory dictates his life and motivates him to commit a murder. In an explanation of his theory to Porfiry Petrovich, the murder investigator, Raskolnikov says: I only believe in my leading idea that men are in general divided by a law of nature into two categories, inferior (ordinary), that is, so to say, material that serves only to reproduce its kind, and men who have the gift or the talent to utter a new word. (Crime 141) He labels those men who have these gifts and talents as extraordinary men and places himself into that category. He believes that he is the best and better than everyone else in the world. After murdering Alyona Ivanovna, something unexplainable happens to Raskolnikov: Something was happening to him entirely new, sudden and unknown. It was not that he understood, but he felt clearly with all the intensity of sensation that he could never more appeal to these people in the police office with sentimental effusions like his recent outburst, or with anything whatever; and that if they had been his own ... Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (NVP) is common in the first trimester of pregnancy, it can be an unbearable condition that affects several women. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both men and women can feel anxiety of parenthood and when woman are having symptoms of NVP this can result in absent work time, incomplete daily routines, managing to see friends or family and caring for other children in the home. Pregnant women can be left feeling exhausted and unhappy, this can then have some negative effects on family relationships, and some couples connections can feel strained. If the woman is working she may also need to tell her employer about the pregnancy, this may possibly be earlier then the women would have liked too. Generally this can be hard for some women. Asking for help is also difficult as a result of this women can become stressed, which can lead to sleep deprivation. Nausea can become worse if women are not getting adequate time for rest. Whilst women feel unwell they may experience some weight loss, this is not uncommon especially if women can not keep any food or fluids down. Weight gain will increase once the women can eat normally again, if women feel unsettled about weight loss they can talk to a dietitian who may suggest specific supplements. It is unknown what the exact underlying pathophysiology of NVP is but it s believed to be multifactorial and includes endocrine, gastrointestinal, cultural, psychosocial and environmental factors. Mirrors In Black Mirror, By Charli Charlie Brooker In our 21st century reality, new media and technology has transformed, with little resistance, almost every aspect of daily life; redefining our reality. From plasma screens to monitors to smartphones, we are constantly face to face with the black screens of our devices, or black mirrors . Canadian professor, Marshall Mcluhan described media as artificial extensions of sensory existence, ; meaning, each media technology functions as a prosthetic, working in conjunction with our minds and bodies, allowing us to perceive more and reshaping our perception of the world (1969). Nothing could have prepared the soldiers at Omaha Beach for the battle they are about to wage. Some recoiled at the graphic violence, others praised the realism, while some questioned whether war is really like that at all. The percentage of an audience who can accurately comment is surely small. What is abundantly clear is that in the massive body of films that deal with World War II, this is one that pulls no punches. It consistently explores the unpredictable and random violence that engulfs and blinds the men within it. The plot serves only to drag a squad of characters through uncharted peril with few fitting the normal pre determined hero tag of war films. They re off on a PR mission to find a Private James Ryan and take him home to his mother, who is shortly to learn that her other three sons are dead. While the men are constantly under threat from the Germans, they are not engaged in a key battle that will help win the war. Without a major event to eclipse proceedings, a greater examination of each man s personal fears is allowed to shine through. This is not a film that will please everyone and quite rightly so. To begin the gathering of information, I searched through the Ohio University ArticlesPlus Database to find any journals that I could find pertaining to the state of America s food waste, how we can make a difference, and what has already been implemented to make a change. This was my way of looking at the amount of food wasted from a bigger perspective. I found four sources on the issue as a whole, to which I have included in my annotated bibliography. Both of these groups have a similar mission, and that is to reduce food waste, promote environmental health, and building a community around the food in Athens county that would normally be thrown away. Athens Food Rescue was one of my favorite groups to listen to as they collect surplus food from places around Athens and redistribute it to the homeless, hungry, or low income people. • 9. Infringement Upon The Right Of Free Speech Infringement Upon the Right of Free Speech One of the most notable rights stated in our constitution is the right to free speech. That right is engrained in the minds of every American since the creation of America itself, but currently the right to free speech is being tossed aside in the fear of conflict with opposing ideas or offensive content. College universities specifically have taken steps to impede upon this right through speech codes and other acts that restrict the right to speak freely. American s growing infringement upon the right of free speech in universities is creating a threat to American culture and the principles that it was founded upon; In order for our citizens to withhold their individuality, opinions, and culture free speech must be actively protected. A speech code is any regulation that bans speech beyond the strict legal limitations of free speech. Universities across America have placed speech codes and restriction upon their students that are intended to protect students from offensive content or offensive opinions but these restrictions often interfere with the first amendment. According to survey done by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education forty nine percent of all colleges in the U.S. utilize speech codes. Colleges in America use these speech codes as a part of their student conduct rules and regulations, breaking a speech code can result in serious discipline. • 13. Examples Of Imperialism Imperialism is a policy of extending a country s power and influence through diplomacy or militaristic force. Often times, it involves the complete usurpation of a country s power and involuntary renouncement of people s rights. This idea is expressed in works such as Shooting an Elephant by George Orwell, The Wretched of the Earth by Fanon, An Open Letter to His Serene Majesty, A Tempest by Cesaire, and The Strangehold of English Lit by Mnthali. These writers all portray imperialism as a discriminatory act in which the well being of imperialists are given significance over the imperialized. In William s An Open Letter to His Serene Majesty Leopold II, he depicts the inhumane conditions that Africans are subject to by stating that there are only three sick sheds for Africans, not fit for horse. (pg 120) Williams creates a clear illustration of the Africans who are living in animal accommodating environments. Ideal imperialism has uniform distribution of wealth between the natives and imperialists, but in William s account, human interaction is being restrained by the deliberate creation of rifts and boundaries in economy. The natives are relegated to servant like positions in society. William s structuring of his opinions as a letter rather than an article suggests that he assuredly believes in economic equality by structuring it as a personal work rather than an informational one. Fanon supports William s conclusions when he states that the zone where the natives live is not complimentary to the zone inhabited by settlers. (pg 131) He advocates that the economic value of the settlers habitat doesn t equal that of the natives. Fanon also provides a comparative depiction of the imperialist wealth when he states that the settler s town is a strongly build asphalt. (pg 131) He delineates their town as notably wealthier than that of the natives, whose town was described as impoverished by Williams. Both authors show that the natives are being neglected economically. This economic inferiority of the natives develops a discrimination and restrains the human interaction between the two races. Psychological changes affects human interaction by the degradation of native s self depiction. In imperialism, the imperialists disparage and mistreat the natives and ultimately create psychological changes. The election of 1800 between Thomas Jefferson and John Adams is one such campaign. Jefferson, through the use of James Callender, a pamphleteer who was one of his supporters, used one of the oldest tricks against Adams: spreading outright lies about his opponent. Callender alleged that Adams wanted to go to war with France and also depicted him as a hermaphroditical character, which has neither the force of a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman. (Freeman). Reputation soiled and credibility destroyed, Adams was no match for Jefferson, who ended up winning the election. Another example of a contentious presidential campaign occurred in 1964. Barry Goldwater was running as the Republican nominee and had his campaign slogan, In your heart, you know he s right. was altered by his Democratic foes into In your guts, you know he s nuts. Intellectual property is an idea that was created by one with the intention to trademark, copyright or patent the creation they have made. There are many forms of intellectual property that exist ranging from artistic sides to mechanical sides and etc. With those many forms intellectual property is broken down into two factions, industrial property and copyright in which all the forms of intellectual property lye somewhere in those two factions. To understand intellectual property a little more we need too look at the two and break down the factions. Also take a look at the protection and the laws that pertain to copyright, trademarks, and patents. Discussion The term intellectual property refers to the innovations of the human mind. Intellectual property rights protect the interests of these innovators by giving them property rights attached to those ideas. The term intellectual property rights stands for these legal rights that authors, inventors, and other creators have. Intellectual property laws relate to a particular way in which ideas or information is expressed or displayed, but not the actual ideas or exact concept itself. Articles Of Confederation Rhetorical Analysis One of the most important documents written in American history, the Articles of Confederation, was crucial to the foundation of American principles. However, there were many inherent flaws in its making, which were addressed by a few different leaders. The Articles of Confederation paved the way towards a successful country, but some of the problems would have sent the country backwards. One of these problems was that for an amendment to be made to the Articles, every state would have to agree, and Rhode Island never sent delegates to conventions to discuss these amendments. This meant that there could never be flexibility in the amendments even when necessary. This dilemma forced many elites of America to come together and completely rewrite ... Idealistically, Madison s ideas about government are possibly the best possible solution to the conflict of factions, yet in reality, Federalist No. 10 has been manipulated in ways that separate people more than unite them. While Madison is probably right in that republicanism is better than simply a popular democracy, his writing essentially did nothing but flip the party in power. Before, the power was held by the majority common people, which was bad because only their interests were being addressed, but after Madison wrote Federalist No. 10, the elite group was the group from which delegates were being elected. Madison was one of the property owners, and he feared that the common sort would prevent him from remaining in power so he had to switch the way the system worked. Through his rhetorical analysis he convinced the people that electing delegates was the way to go, and in the end only the members of the elite group were elected. He wanted a government that protected the rights of the rich property owners from the common sort and he was successful in doing so. He says a rage for paper money will hinder the abilities of those elected and therefore should not be. This prevented anyone who was poor from being elected. For Picasso, the wandering saltimbanques (a kind of circus performer) represented the neglected lower class, whom he must have identified with as an avant garde artist. Parallels and Contrasts in Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm. The English Journal, Vol. 55, No. 1, Jan.1966, pp. 86 88+92. The fundamental objective of this scholarly article is to compare and contrast the two controversial novels Animal farm and Golding s Lord of the Flies. When writing this piece the author had several points, such as how the two books reflect society, how each book has a specific incident that results in the breakdown of the established order, dissension between the protagonist and antagonist, and four more strong compelling ties between the stories. However, for my research only one comparison was useful to my point and that would be how in both stories there is a transformation between humans and savages. When writing this comparison the author discusses civilization s role in this process. She claims that in Lord of the Flies Golding creates the idea that every man is part savage and that savagery is concealed only by the barrier of civilization and sociological norms. The author also presents the idea that these restrictions society implement are very fragile, stating that it only takes a couple of people to revert back to savagery to turn a group of people into animals. This is shown by the pig s head that was mutilated by flies, which symbolizes the evil and degenerate in man and particular in Jack, who as a pig or savage, becomes lord of nothing ... Educational Philosophy of John Dewey Essay The Educational Philosophy of John Dewey John Dewey is known as leader of the progressive movement in the history of the American education system and his book, Democracy and Education: an introduction to the philosophy of education, could be used as a textbook to teach the foundations of the movement. Discrediting all previous educational and philosophic approaches as intellectually incomplete or inaccurate, Dewey first presents a new perspective on the nature of knowledge, education, society and philosophy. One fundamental theme of Dewey s progressive movement is that education is growth and that growth is, in and of itself, the objective. Rejecting any notion of innate knowledge or of an ideal goal to strive for, the progressive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Societies can be, by definition, small associations of like minded individuals with narrow aims or large nations with broad, diverse aims. Dewey offers two standards which can be applied to assess the value of a society: How numerous and varied are the interests which are consciously shared? How full and free is the interplay with other forms of association? By applying these two questions, the natural conclusion of the ideal society is democratic, that is to say one that offers its citizens the freedom of expression and communication. If a democracy represents an ideal society that presents the maximum number of common interests and the maximum opportunities for association with other societies, then it also represents the ideal society in its potential for growth. Any society with a near limitless potential for growth must redefine the concept of knowledge in order to gain efficiencies in its education system. Previous attempts at defining knowledge were flawed, in the mind of the Progressivist, by directly stating or implying a division or duality that presents a barrier to free intercourse of ideas. Examples of these dualities are that of different classes within a society such as rich vs poor, noble vs lower class, ruler vs ruled or that of the physical vs metaphysical worlds. Any duality serves to separate knowledge from action, a continuity which is proclaimed as ideal. Any piece of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The company then became a marketplace for fixed price goods much like an online retail website with a small collection of goods for sale.
