A Critical Analysis Of Jackson Pollock And Steve Jobs
All individuals living within a community, are constantly being influenced by others while they
develop their personalities, habits, and morals. Some people are naturally inclined to follow and others
are confident enough in their own thinking to lead. A leader must think for themselves, allowing their
uniqueness to translate into creative solutions. An individual s decision to follow an unpopular path
will always be either applauded or scrutinized by others, which can be discouraging. It is important for
individuals to both listen to what others have to say about their work, while also remaining confident
in their abilities. Trailblazers like Jackson Pollock and Steve Jobs show that in order for an individual
to successfully take their own path in life and perpetuate it, they must find their calling, be confident
in their abilities, and listen to other s critiques without allowing themselves to become filled with
pressure or self doubt. Jackson Pollock succeeded in developing a new artistic technique to depict the
world by accepting culture s initial reactions understandingly and remaining confident in himself.
Pollock broadly describes the origin of his use of abstract expressionism in a 1949 interview with
William Wright. He explains how he practiced many of the great historical art techniques in school,
but felt that the modern painter cannot express this age, the airplane, the atom bomb, the radio, in the
old forms of the Renaissance or of any other past culture

Gibbons Book Report
In this monograph The Gibbons of Khao Yai, Thad Q Bartlett records all of his own notes about the
small apes, also known as the gibbons, in their own natural habitat in the national park of Khao Yai,
Thailand. Before he wrote this book, primatologists had hypothesized about a correlation between
territoriality and monogamy in the gibbons and believed that it was due to the small fruiting trees and
figs. Bartlett had taken an interest in the gibbons, and made a goal to contradict this hypothesis by
studying the gibbons up close, and better understand how the availability of food affected their
behaviors and ecology. Bartlett began his field study by focusing on the fauna and environment that
they live in, which was the Mo Singto study area. Gibbons are known as mostly frugivorous primates,
as they mainly thrive on figs and leaves, but Bartlett noted that gibbons could also supplement
themselves with insects and leaves, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gibbons had shown to have friendly encounters with other gibbons when other resources like
insects, leaves and ripe fruit were available. Although, when the fruit was scarce, they displayed more
territorial tendencies, and the encounters became more hostile and agonistic. These observations are
what led to the suggestion of resource defense being an important aspect of territoriality in gibbons
(pg. 119). Regarding the uniqueness of their monogamous lifestyle, Bartlett mainly referred to the
predictions from other primatologists about how gibbons live in their small groups. He referred to
Wright s predictions in particular about how the gibbons created their own small groups for the sake
of having enough food resources. Eventually, Bartlett came to his own conclusion in that the gibbons
monogamy were likely out of a dietary preference for rare but stable resources (Bartlett: ??? pg.

The Health Information Exchange
Unless the technical and political issues that have been affecting the Healthcare.gov website to
malfunction are controlled and driven out, the new Obamacare will become a high cost and frustration
for consumers to use. To date consumers in St Louis and the Metro East along with the rest of
America, have not been thrilled with the Health Insurance Marketplace website at healthcare.gov,
which is the initial step towards the new Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). The
site has been choked with enrollees trying to meet the December 15, 2013 deadline, which is

Healthcare.gov is a government market place for insurance companies to list their plans coverage and
cost, and a one stop shopping place for consumers that are not insured nor have sufficient healthcare
coverage.
First a little background history about the Healthcare.gov website. Right after President Obama signed
the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) into law in March 2010, which is an
individual and employer mandate that requires every person have access to an affordable health
insurance plan that is not based on gender or pre existing health conditions. The key to making this
program work is to get a large number of young uninsured to pay into an insurance plan that will keep
premiums low for the majority that are enrolled in an insurance plan, called pooling , which is defined
as grouping resources together to get the greatest advantage and limit risk for all users in an insurance
plan.
The hope is that young adults who are uninsured are between the ages of 18 and 34 who use fewer
healthcare services, will pay lower premiums and use preventive health care services to lower their
chances of needing high cost treatment in the future. The pooling of their premium payments is
expected to take care of the healthcare cost of an elderly adult with multiple healthcare conditions that

The Birthmark By Nathaniel Hawthorne

Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark
The Birthmark is a short story authored by Nathaniel Hawthorne and published in 1848. The story is
about Aylmer, a brilliant scientist who is obsessed with science and is planning to use his experiments
to remove a birthmark on the face of his wife Georgiana. Aylmer s love for science made him yearn to
obtain control of the entire divinity. His wife was among his victims of science that was stronger in
him than the love he had for Georgiana. Aylmer became blind to science to the extent that he could not
realize that he was damaging his wife and putting his marriage at risk. It examines the obsession with
science and human perfection that often cause problems if not controlled as seen in the story.
Hawthorne s aim with this tale was to warn its readers regarding the dangers of science and
knowledge with the story, and this is analyzed below.
Ronald Davis, Barbara Eckstein, Liz Rosenberg, Jerry A. Herndon, and Jeffrey Howard, are among
the authors who have analyzed Nathaniel s work The Birthmark. In an article titled Science and
Technology in the Birthmark, Ronald agreed by the fact that The Birthmark is a story with several
warnings. He identifies the main catalysts in the story as unnatural obsession with technology and
science by Aylmer, who is the main character. Ronald stated that in Nathaniel Hawthorne s, The
Birthmark , there is an unnatural obsession with science

were also dispelled forcing them to the outskirts of the cities.
The situation did not improve, instead it has remained the same throughout, with spells of increased
violence, promises of cease fires and peace talks, yet people are still dying and disappearing. This
point reached a high when, in 1985, Eleven judges and 90 other people were killed by the M 19

Sinaloa Cartel and the Gulf Cartel are two main examples of this. They have set up and taken over

makes Mexico unique from Colombia is that there is an ongoing constant struggle for power between
rival cartels. Over time one weakens, and another topples it, effectively taking over the business and
becoming the next major enemy of the state. Currently, there are about 7 major cartels that include;
Los Zetas, La Familia, Juarez Cartel, Tijuana Cartel, Gulf Cartel, Sinaloa Cartel, and the Knights

These include, but are not limited to innocent civilians, tourists, to politicians and even police officers.
Certain cartels have different values, targeting specific people and willing to do certain things to

Entropy is somewhat clearly the primal reason for our vitality emergency: we are blazing fossil
powers we can t supplant, while the supposed atomic arrangement will require more vitality to

Entropy, Rifkin additionally contends, is for the most part in charge of not just social and monetary
issues clearly coming about because of the vitality emergency, additionally for issues felt much sooner
than fossil fills ran rare. Issues of scale, for occurrence: a wrongdoing rate duplicating geometrically
as urban areas increment in size. An educational system weakening subjectively, even as it

Here entropy gets to be not a conspicuous, quickly obvious physical rule, but rather an illustration for
what happens when establishments develop so extensive that, as with some parts of the interstate

Maybe, to a degree, since some entropy is inescapable. Yet, the connection between the amount of
data our schools confer and the amount of vitality their physical upkeep exhausts is dubious, no doubt.

Sustainable Wood Flooring

we should purchase or what we should not consider purchasing. We have been encouraged to wean
ourselves away from incandescent light bulbs, and switch to energy saving bulbs, which we have now
grown accustomed to, and in many cases have come to prefer, but what about flooring? Fortunately,
flooring is also an area where you can go green, and do so in style. It is indeed possible to have great

The cork oak tree itself is the responsible party in this case, as the flooring material comes from bark
that is shed from the tree. There is no need to cut a single tree down. The flooring material lies
scattered around its base. Cork is also extensively used as core material for engineered wood flooring.
Other Types of Sustainable Flooring Engineered wood is another good example of sustainable flooring
material, since it only a small percentage of it is solid wood. The rest is scrap or recycled material. The
same is true to an even greater extent with laminates. Although supplies are somewhat limited,
recycled wood such as antique wood is an option. Old barn wood was once a very popular choice and
still is, but old barns are unfortunately not sustainable, and are becoming scarcer with each passing
year. There many examples of non wood sustainable flooring, including stone, ceramic, vinyl, rubber,
and of course, carpeting. Many if not most homeowners like to have at least some wood flooring in
their homes however. Fortunately, the choices of sustainable wood flooring are many and varied. Have
no fear of going green. There are more attractive options available to you than you might

Nursing Extended Definition Of Nursing
Nursing Extended Definition The medical field has various career options such as surgeons, licensed
vocational nurses, primary care physicians, certified nursing aids, and more. Some medical careers
have their similarities along with their differences, as in a registered nurse compared to a licensed
vocational nurse or a primary care physician. The individuals who work in the medical field operate
several types of technology. Sometimes one can define a career field by looking at what medical
technology they use. The healthcare industry has long been overburdened by a slow moving
innovation due to the complexity of the medical ecosystem, but due to this technology the industry has
finally seen some changes (Honigman). The personal responsibility related to being a registered nurse
can be defined by looking at its difference to a primary care physician, its comparison to a licensed
vocational nurse, and technology obtainable to them to help treat their patients with miscellaneous
medical disorders. The responsibility associated with being a registered nurse can be informal by
looking at the difference to a primary care physician. Nurses work in set shifts of eight hours for five
days in a week or twelve hours in four days in a week while doctors are on call twenty four hours a
day, seven days a week (Saavedra). Therefore, nurses have more manageable and tolerable hours than
doctors. Also, nurses have more time to get to know their patients on a personal level while

How Did Galileo Galilei Impact The World
All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered, but the point is to discover them. This was
a famous quote said by the great Galileo Galilei. The quote basically defines the method of
discovering things first, then understanding the truths and facts. This quote relates to my thesis by
showing the positive outcomes out of Galileo and the discoveries he has made. Galileo Galilei was,
known as the father of science, was an important and influential figure in history that had a

Not only that, but he was human like the rest of us and he had gone through pitfalls just like us as

out of him was how the world see s everything right now. As america now, they can discover new
things and send people into space and other things such as not being scared to sail the sea and fall of

movies and other ideas were created. For example, star wars.
Now maybe not all came out positive though. The negative impact was that because of these
astonishing discoveries, religious people started to question their religious beliefs. Problems started to
happen more because of belief in other things. This caused holy wars and other aspects in how they
viewed their life. As well as a major world time event, the thirty years of war in between the catholics

There were numerous acts protecting the rights of men but almost none for women. Women were
deprived, neglected and usually considered to be the husband s property . Moreover, when women s
rights were violated there wee no institutions they could turn to for help. Men could get the divorce
when a case of adultery occurred, while women could actually get divorced if husband s adultery was
accompanied by cruelty or abuse. Previously, after the divorce all possessions went to husbands
leaving wives poor and deprived of everything. During the Victorian period some acts were passed

An Automated External Defribillator (AED)
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a tool that saves lives on a constant basis. This device
is used to send an electrical charge to stabilize the heart into pumping normally. This device is
normally found in EMT kits, hospitals, many public buildings. The AED is an easy tool to use that
provides instructions on how effectively use one without damaging the patient.
They way an AED is used by placing two pads on the body in the locations that allow the a charge to
successfully pass through the heart. The placement is very important because if placed too closely the
charge may not pass through the heart. If placed incorrectly the charge might damage other organs.
Often times, an instructional manual is provided within the device which displays proper placement on
the body. Placement varies according to body size and age, children require a different placement than
adults.
The AED is important because it has been designed to give the right amount of voltage so that it does
not damage the heart through use. They are portable devices that make storage and access easier, and
the setup is stream lined to allow ease of use for the operator. The battery that is encased allows for
reliability and long storage life. Many of the tools in the AED kit are made purposely for a non

of resources for many living things on land. One of the living creatures on land involves humans. One,
must not forget that the oceans cover a very large area of this planet, this means that one can easily

important resources the ocean provides, some of these involve food, from fish, transportation for

The economical support that local markets receive in the North Pacific Ocean are so big that they have

Symptoms And Symptoms Of The Valley Fever
After transmission, there are many different symptoms Rift Valley fever can cause when infecting its
host. Not only can they differ between humans and animals, but within those units individuals can
experience a wide variety of symptoms ranging from those as mild as headaches and nausea to those
more extreme such as meningitis and death. Although throughout history only about 2% of humans
infected happened to be fatal, the other 98% suffered through a wide variation of symptoms that
focused on different aspects of the body1. In humans, Rift Valley fever can have an incubation period
of 2 to 6 days with some patients showing no signs and a majority of the others suffering from flu like
symptoms, such as vomiting, headaches, limb pains, and diarrhea2. These minor symptoms can last
from 2 to 7 days before the patient s adaptive immune response is implemented and begins its fight
against the virus, followed by a complete, or nearly complete, recovery2,3. Though these symptoms
seem like common ailments that exist everywhere today and are practically harmless in the long run,
Rift Valley fever has the potential to turn them into a lifelong nuisance. After the onset of the first
symptoms, infected patients can progressively suffer from ocular damage, both temporary and
permanent. Most cases can involve the inflammation of the retina and uvea or can have complications
with retinal vasculitis, which in turn could lead to photophobia, a sever sensitivity to light1,4. With

The United States Tax System
Past Influences, the United States Tax System
The Power of Tax
Franklin D Roosevelt once said Taxes, after all, are dues that we pay for the privileges of membership
in an organized society . Though the word, tax, itself has so much power the basic definition is to
asses a fee against a citizen person, property, or activity for the support of the government (Tax, n.d. ,
para. 2). Just mentioning taxes as a headliner on a newscast will draw the public in to listen to the
news. The word is unescapable since as citizens of the United States taxes are paid on almost all
earned income and on the majority of goods or services purchased. In order for the federal government
to fund for expenditures related to the economy; taxes are collected from ... Show more content on

14). Over the years no internal revenues were collected, hence to raise money for war Congress would
raise excise taxes, custom duties, and issue Treasury notes (History of the US Tax, 2003, para. 14).
Civil War Influence Initially few taxes did exist in the United States, however it was not until 1862,
and Congress enacted the nation s first income tax law (Brief History of IRS). During this time period
the nation was going through the Civil War, and in order to support the war Congress established the
office of Commissioner of the Internal Revenue (History of Income Tax). The Commissioner of 1862
still has the same obligations, thus the power to collect taxes, levy, seize property, assess, and enforce
tax laws. Throughout the Civil War any person earning from $600 to $10,000 per year paid tax at the
rate of three percent, while people that earned more than $10,000 paid a higher rate of five percent
(History of Income Tax).Although the people who earned more were taxed at a higher rate in the
course of time, a standard deduction of $600 was also enacted for rental housing, repairs, losses, and
other taxes paid (History of the US Tax, 2003, para. 14). With the end of the Civil War, the necessity
for the additional tax revenue began to diminish as well as public support of the individual income tax
rate. Congress did eventually decrease the

The Issue Of Mineral Rights Essay
As a first time homebuyer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I thought I had very carefully prepared
myself for all that the process would involve, including gathering income and financial
documentation, qualifying for a mortgage, arranging for a thorough inspection, evaluating needs and
desires from a home and finding a reputable agent to represent my interests. One area I never
considered, however, was the issue of mineral rights. To be perfectly honest, although I d heard the
term, I d never given consideration to what it actually meant. But that all changed in the middle of my
home buying process and I d like to share with you the knowledge I ve gained through extensive
research I completed to protect my own rights and the rights I would possess as a soon to be
homeowner. According to property law, two different forms of rights exist in any real property:
surface rights and mineral rights. Surface rights refer to any structure erected above the surface or sub
surface structures that do not exceed a certain depth, as well as rights to use all surface property
surrounding structures in accordance with zoning ordinances. Mineral rights refer to mineral
substances below a certain depth and the way in which they are preserved, explored or extracted.
These mineral substances can include natural gas, oil, or any other substance in common use today
that can be mined or otherwise extracted from below the surface. Local laws set the depth below
which surface rights terminate

Pharmakon Persuasive Speech
Pharmakon: An ancient Greek Word meaning drug as both a remedy and a poison1. A paradoxical
statement that is true in life hundred years ago, and true in life now. It is an obvious fact that drugs
such as alcohol, marijuana and tobacco cause adverse effects that can ultimately cause death either by
body trauma or social interaction such as crashing of cars or abusive fights that is seen as common in
society2. However, even though drugs are blamed for the destruction that they cause, they have a
significant effect on curing life as well. The purpose of this essay is to explain to the audience that
drugs are only detrimental to the body and society, if it allowed to be, as these certain drugs can also
bring us life and prolongment. It is not the drugs we create that cause the problem. It is the problem
caused by the humans who abuse these drugs that cause a rift in social fabric and a damage to our own
body. As it is common knowledge, as well as socially known, ... Show more content on

Alcohol, being the most socially acceptable drug in society causes 13000 deaths in car crashes,

alcohol can cause death and destruction is an enigma in which why alcohol is not banned by the
government. Even more so, excessive alcohol consumption contributes to arrhythmias (irregular heart
beat), stroke and fibrosis of the liver4. However, as the word pharmakon dictates, alcohol is also a
remedy and has several health benefits. According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, moderate
alcohol consumption is defined as having up to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per

Disadvantages Of Biomedical Engineering
The human body is made up of a series of organs, each one serving its own unique and irreplaceable
purpose within a system. For the most part these organs function to the fullest of their abilities;
however, sometimes things go wrong, and organs, for whatever reason, stop working. When a vital
organ fails it begins a decline in all other organs and can eventually lead to complete organ failure.
This is because when an organ fails, there is nothing else able to imitate its unique structure and
function. In the face of this, scientists and medical specialists alike have begun to develop methods to
alleviate the consequences of organ failure. Some of these methods result from medicine, geneticists,
and mechanics, but truly, the most prospective of all the methods is via biomedical engineering.
Within biomedical engineering, through a method called Bioprinting, scientists can now create new
organs out of the patient s own cells, and have been doing so since 1999 (11). It works like this. First
you start with a blueprint outlining the desired structure of the organ(22). Then you move onto the 3d
printing machine, such as a Regonovo capable of running the inkjet sub method of 3d printing(15).
This type of 3d printing is designed to build the desired object, or in this case organ, by laying down
the material layer by layer and allowing it to fuse together along the way, allowing it to maintain
structural integrity. Within a bioprinter there is bioink, which is a cell filled

Middle managers, especially the branch managers, like Martha Pauly and product managers in
Business Units pay more attention to the changed performance measurement system than focusing on
the customer teams and making sure they are being more responsive to customer needs. Martha Pauly
seems very confused and inattentive to what s happening in her branch and sales team. While talking
about the change in organization, says that, It involves the knowledge of the industry and the
company, the full line of products, our various software, applications and concepts of system
integration. Exactly who handles all the pieces of sale like this is still unclear (Dynacorp revisited,
1999: M2 88 89)
The team members are still operating under the old attitude, that the equipment, sells itself and that the
customer will do all the integration of the products into their operations. The notion of helping the
customers from initial call through implementation and use of the system is still quite unknown to
many of them. Customers are more particular about the service/product, and looking for complete
system solutions, more customized software, and more value added services.
In the course of this change, senior managers wish the whole organization can fit with the changed
situation and the operation of the new reorganized structure can be more smooth and efficient. But
also through this change, the middle managers, especially branch managers and

Similarities Between The Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) and the Epic of Gilgamesh, Tablet XI have certain parallels that are
undeniable, yet many noticeable differences. The parallels are strange yet oddly common in any flood
narrative and the differences often lie behind the reasons, responses, and decisions made by the main
characters. In both texts, each of the main characters, Noah and Uta napishti, were ordered to build an
ark or a boat due to an incoming flood. In Genesis, God tells Noah, Make yourself an ark of cypress
wood, make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch (Genesis 6:14). Noah obeys God s
orders and indeed builds an ark. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Uta napishti is told by God Ea, O man of
Shuruppak, son of Ubar Tutu, demolish the house and build a boat! Abandon wealth, and seek survival
(Gilgamesh, XI, 23 25). Uta napishti knew his life was on the line and followed his orders as well. In
both texts, the men are warned that flood will be coming and are given instructions on how to survive.
Naturally, if anyone was told a massive flood was coming, one of the first ideas should be to build
some type of shelter. However, the details of how the ark/boat was to be built were remarkably
different. In Genesis, God gives Noah specific directions: ...the length of the ark three hundred cubits,
its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits...make it with lower, second, and third decks (Genesis
6:15). The ark was designed to be rectangular with three decks

The Protection Of The Environment
Introduction
Information and public participation play an important role in the protection of the environment. To
that end they have become rights which are protected internationally, continentally and domestically,
ensuring that all citizens and organizations are able to play an active role in the management of the
environmental at all levels. By enabling public participation, governments are inevitably providing
transparency in governance and therefore reinforcing the legislative and institutional safeguards that
have been put in place to protect the environment. It is important that some level of transparency is
available regarding environmental decisions in order to allow the public be aware of decision making
procedures, as well the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under Principle 10, public participation is a creature of three distinct requirements Firstly, there is a
recognition that participation does not occur in a vacuum; rather, it is facilitated by a healthy
understanding of the current state of the environment. The Rio Declaration recognized that at the
national level, each individual shall have appropriate access to information concerning the
environment that is held by public authorities, including information on hazardous materials and
activities in their communities .
As such, there is a responsibility on governments to make available information on the environment
and the current risks faced to the citizens. The Rio Declaration states that states shall facilitate and
encourage public awareness and participation by making information widely available . This includes
educating local communities as to the environmental risks they specifically face and their sources. It
also means providing an adequate mechanism for governmental bodies to provide this information.
Secondly when the public is fully aware of the status of their environment, then citizens and interest
groups should be provided with the opportunity to participate in the decision making process .
Individuals and organizations should have a say in the drafting of legislation, regulation and
guidelines.

Impact On The Cuban Embargo
The Cuban Embargo Every world power has at least one means of communication with each other and
that is made through trade. Furthermore, trade is an essential part of a thriving economy and is
pertinent for a country to grow and prosper. It would even be argued that the concept of trade is
established at a young age, and is exhibited in the school yard through many medias. One of the most
common forms that trade takes place is through baseball cards. Moreover, each individual experiences
trade during their lifetime, and it is vital for a growing country to participate in trade. Whilst trade can
be an incredible assets towards a nation, it can also be one of the strongest foes. The nation of Cuba
can speak very clearly on this argument, specifically in regards to the Cuban Embargo issued by the
United States of America. The concept of trade and its effect on an economy can be examined through
the Cuban Embargo due to the United States history with Cuba, the effect on Cuba, and the effect on
the United States of America if it were to be ended. Almost all enemies and foes, at one time, would
have considered themselves to be good friends, this situation exemplifies the relationship between the
United States and Cuba. For instance, in January of 1959 Fidel Castro overtook the Cuban government
and President General Fulgencio Batista (U.S. Cuba Reltions, Suddath). Furthermore, Castro was able
to do this with the help of the United States imposing a 1958 embargo on

  • 2. A Critical Analysis Of Jackson Pollock And Steve Jobs All individuals living within a community, are constantly being influenced by others while they develop their personalities, habits, and morals. Some people are naturally inclined to follow and others are confident enough in their own thinking to lead. A leader must think for themselves, allowing their uniqueness to translate into creative solutions. An individual s decision to follow an unpopular path will always be either applauded or scrutinized by others, which can be discouraging. It is important for individuals to both listen to what others have to say about their work, while also remaining confident in their abilities. Trailblazers like Jackson Pollock and Steve Jobs show that in order for an individual to successfully take their own path in life and perpetuate it, they must find their calling, be confident in their abilities, and listen to other s critiques without allowing themselves to become filled with pressure or self doubt. Jackson Pollock succeeded in developing a new artistic technique to depict the world by accepting culture s initial reactions understandingly and remaining confident in himself. Pollock broadly describes the origin of his use of abstract expressionism in a 1949 interview with William Wright. He explains how he practiced many of the great historical art techniques in school, but felt that the modern painter cannot express this age, the airplane, the atom bomb, the radio, in the old forms of the Renaissance or of any other past culture ... • 3. Gibbons Book Report In this monograph The Gibbons of Khao Yai, Thad Q Bartlett records all of his own notes about the small apes, also known as the gibbons, in their own natural habitat in the national park of Khao Yai, Thailand. Before he wrote this book, primatologists had hypothesized about a correlation between territoriality and monogamy in the gibbons and believed that it was due to the small fruiting trees and figs. Bartlett had taken an interest in the gibbons, and made a goal to contradict this hypothesis by studying the gibbons up close, and better understand how the availability of food affected their behaviors and ecology. Bartlett began his field study by focusing on the fauna and environment that they live in, which was the Mo Singto study area. Gibbons are known as mostly frugivorous primates, as they mainly thrive on figs and leaves, but Bartlett noted that gibbons could also supplement themselves with insects and leaves, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The gibbons had shown to have friendly encounters with other gibbons when other resources like insects, leaves and ripe fruit were available. Although, when the fruit was scarce, they displayed more territorial tendencies, and the encounters became more hostile and agonistic. These observations are what led to the suggestion of resource defense being an important aspect of territoriality in gibbons (pg. 119). Regarding the uniqueness of their monogamous lifestyle, Bartlett mainly referred to the predictions from other primatologists about how gibbons live in their small groups. He referred to Wright s predictions in particular about how the gibbons created their own small groups for the sake of having enough food resources. Eventually, Bartlett came to his own conclusion in that the gibbons monogamy were likely out of a dietary preference for rare but stable resources (Bartlett: ??? pg. ... For the most part these organs function to the fullest of their abilities; however, sometimes things go wrong, and organs, for whatever reason, stop working. When a vital organ fails it begins a decline in all other organs and can eventually lead to complete organ failure. This is because when an organ fails, there is nothing else able to imitate its unique structure and function. In the face of this, scientists and medical specialists alike have begun to develop methods to alleviate the consequences of organ failure. Some of these methods result from medicine, geneticists, and mechanics, but truly, the most prospective of all the methods is via biomedical engineering. Within biomedical engineering, through a method called Bioprinting, scientists can now create new organs out of the patient s own cells, and have been doing so since 1999 (11). It works like this. First you start with a blueprint outlining the desired structure of the organ(22). Then you move onto the 3d printing machine, such as a Regonovo capable of running the inkjet sub method of 3d printing(15). • 32. Similarities Between The Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh The Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) and the Epic of Gilgamesh, Tablet XI have certain parallels that are undeniable, yet many noticeable differences. The parallels are strange yet oddly common in any flood narrative and the differences often lie behind the reasons, responses, and decisions made by the main characters. In both texts, each of the main characters, Noah and Uta napishti, were ordered to build an ark or a boat due to an incoming flood. In Genesis, God tells Noah, Make yourself an ark of cypress wood, make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch (Genesis 6:14). Noah obeys God s orders and indeed builds an ark. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Uta napishti is told by God Ea, O man of Shuruppak, son of Ubar Tutu, demolish the house and build a boat! Abandon wealth, and seek survival (Gilgamesh, XI, 23 25). Uta napishti knew his life was on the line and followed his orders as well. In both texts, the men are warned that flood will be coming and are given instructions on how to survive. Naturally, if anyone was told a massive flood was coming, one of the first ideas should be to build some type of shelter. However, the details of how the ark/boat was to be built were remarkably different. In Genesis, God gives Noah specific directions: ...the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits...make it with lower, second, and third decks (Genesis 6:15). As such, there is a responsibility on governments to make available information on the environment and the current risks faced to the citizens.
