• A shape is the form of an object or its
external boundary, outline, or external
surface, as opposed to other properties
such as color, texture or material type.

the triangle, the square.
• Each of these is divided into smaller
categories; triangles can be equilateral,
isosceles, obtuse, acute etc. while

• TWO DIMENSIONAL (2D) shape has two plane that
we can measure the length and we can measure the
breadth ( called the width) of the shape.
• For example, a square is a 2D shape. All the sides of a
square are straight lines.A circle is also a 2D shape, but
a circle has a curved edge.

• THREE DIMENSIONAL shapes have faces (sides), edges
and vertices (corners).
• Faces : A face is a flat or curved surface on a 3D shape.
For example a cube has six faces, a cylinder has three
and a sphere has just one.

• Vertices : A vertex is a corner where edges meet.

• Geometric shapes are precise shapes that can be
described using mathematical formulas.
• These shapes are circles, rectangles, squares, triangles
and so on - have the clear edges one achieves when
using tools to create them.
• Most geometric shapes are made by humans, though
crystals are also considered to be geometric despite
the fact that they are made in nature.

flowing and curving appearance.
• Organic shapes and forms are typically irregular or
asymmetrical.
• Organic shapes are associated with things from the

living things (e.g., leaves of trees, oranges, etc).

• The way positive and negative shapes act together
creates the atmosphere of a composition.
• Positive shapes are the shapes of actual objects. Our
eyes are trained to seek out positive shapes- for
example recognizing a chair or coffee cup.

SQUARES:
• Squares are probably the easiest option for
interior design, since they can be found
everywhere and it will have no trouble sourcing
what one will looking for.
• Side tables, mirrors, rugs(mat), cushions, and
even tissue boxes are typically represented as a
strong-sided square or a cube. Repeating that
shape around the room and will create a more
precise geometric pattern.

TRIANGLES:
• In a triangle you’ll see that the wide base could
represent the start of a journey, while the peak at
the tip symbolizes complete success.
• In geometric design, patterns with triangles are
confident and dynamic and will make your room
feel energized.
• Mixing too many different types of triangle in the
same space will affect the space. It’s far more
effective to stick with one or two triangles and to
use them as less as possible.

CIRCLES:
• Much like with squares, it’s surprisingly easy to
make circular geometric patterns in interior
design. Coffee tables can be circular, elongated
circles in lozenge-shaped form are a huge trend
right now.
• It suits in central pieces of furniture like
