This are the interiors of the Merindol Colony in 2137ad after the Climate Change Collapse and the Apocalipse Wars. Merindol is a small Colony in the Italian Alps where there are around 4000 humans. The Colony values mainly around meritocracy and selection by effort.

1. I chose to not use this photo as the
red part of the Santa hat isn’t
visible meaning that the desired
mise en scene isn’t achieved. This
is however my favourite of the
images I didn’t chose.
2. I chose to not use this photo as the background
can be made out slightly and there is too much
head room, fixing this would result in the image
appearing as though it had been zoomed in on
too much.
3. I chose to not use this image as the hat isn’t
visible enough, meaning that the magazine’s
theme would not be clear. The background can
also be made out, this means that it isn’t totally
black, which was the effect that was desired.
4. I chose to not use this photo as the
background isn’t completely black,
although direct address is being used I do
not like the expression used in this photo
because the model appears too distressed.
By using this image it would not be clear
that this is a film magazine with a
Christmas theme as the hat isn’t fully
visible.
5. I chose to use this photo as the hat is the most
noticeable in this image I feel. I also like this
image more than some of the others because
of the expression, direct address is being used.
Finally I chose this image because the dead
black background compliments this image well,
the red of the hat stands out more here.
