3. Why I haven’t chosen these pictures This picture was taken in the woods in daylight. So, the flash did not need to be on because it was already bright enough without it and so, my camera went out of focus and made the picture blurry. This would not be an ideal picture for the front cover of my music magazine as it has no central focus, and I need an image which focuses on the face as this is partly what will attract the reader. My model is being ‘Taylor Swift’, the dress code is fine for this as she is girly and her floral dress shows this, however it would not be a good image because it does not represent the glamorous, famous life style that she would have.

I have not chosen this picture for my front cover as the positioning of my model does look awkward, and her facial expression shows this because it is too much of a ‘smirk’ and there is no direct eye contact with the reader which may disengage the audience as they are not sure of what the model is looking at. Although, a positive of this picture is that it is clear and focused, but not what I want the centre image to be.

Also, I didn’t choose this picture either because the way the model is positioned does not look like those that you see on other teen pop magazines such as ‘Bliss’ which usually have a mid shot image which shows musical singers who are facing towards the camera, and as my model is turning round and looking down on her audience makes it less friendly despite the friendly expression.

6. I was going to use this picture for my front cover, however I thought that the camera angle did not seem satisfactory to what I wanted. My target audience want something to look cool and make them want to read more, an over smiling model may scare the audience off and young girls of around the age of 13-15 stereotypically want to be seen as cool.

7. However, I decided that I prefer this picture. This is the picture I chose for my front cover of my music magazine, because it is extremely clear and my model’s facial expression is smiling and directly looking towards the reader. Despite the fact, it is still in an outdoor friendly environment, it shows a difference to what an ordinary teen pop magazine would look like and this makes it more individual. The picture looks spacious, and this gives space for text to go around the left third.

9. I did not choose this image for my contents as the positioning of the camera cuts out the left arm and it looks out of place. The quality of the image is good, however this is not what I was looking for.

10. I chose this mid-shot image for my contents page as the main focus is the front cover celebrity throughout. It is of a good quality, and the facial expression is friendly and the hair and make up is not too overly done to represent that make up does not have to be over the top. The colour purple fits in with the blonde hair and red lipstick.

11. I advised my model to do a pose which looked happy, or almost as though as if she was laughing to create a positive attitude. However, the image is too blurred and would mean that the model is not looking directly at the camera. Direct eye contact with the reader shows the ‘celebrity’ is involved more. I also thought that the background clashed with the colour of the model’s jumper.

12. I used this image as the model is smiling and looking directly at the camera. As I used the magic wand tool to get rid of the blue background as it automatically made the contents page much tidier and organised. It also made the image lighter which is an advantage.

13. I did not use this image as it is too blurry and not in focus with the attraction, the model. An error on my part is that the advise of positioning so it looks more professional did not work as she is stood mainly towards the left hand side.

15. For my content page, I wanted to include a couple of smaller images to give a real look into a celebrities life. I decided to get an image by a light mirror as that represents glamour and ‘glitz’ whereas I did not choose this picture because it is obviously too dark because the lighting in the room does not match the flash as it contrasts too much and therefore, gives it an unbalanced lighting.

16. In all of my pictures, I did a photo shoot to try and find the best picture. I decided not to use this picture either because the flash has caused the light bulb to be too bright on the left hand side of the picture and still looks too dark to be on the double page. Also, there is a light reflection across the left hand side of the wall which makes it look unprofessional. Also, I decided after this photo that I wanted the picture to show the model’s face, the mirror and the contents surrounding the mirror as that would make it closer to the audience.

17. This is the image I definitely chose, because it is clear and in focus, it targets the model instantly with again, the direct eye contact through the mirror. The lighting gives a nice glow to the whole of the image. The use of make up is perfect because it represents the life style that she has. The positioning of the model is purposeful as it shows the model from the back of her head to the mirror, and it is posed but that is the aim.

18. As a main image for my double page, I did not use this, purely because of the blurriness that the camera has done. I experimented with different mode settings, and it did not work with this particular image. Again, the positioning of the camera cuts out the right arm and this does not show a central position.

19. I chose this image for my double page as the quality is good, however I did crop out the right section, as the lighting did not work so I cropped it out so the image is smaller. The better the quality, the more professional it looks. The camera is level with the models eyes which again, makes it direct.

20. Another image I chose was this as it posed, and the idea of a photo shoot is ideal especially for different style of images. This is a longer shot, and includes more of the dress. It shows simplicity can look glamorous and that is the aim of this. The facial expression is sweet, and will appeal to the target audience.

21. Another image I wanted to include in the double page was a more realistic picture to ‘Taylor Swifts’ life. She loves her dog, so I wanted to include that. I did not choose this image because even though I want it to look more realistic, the camera has gone too blurry and the lighting at the top of my models head is too light. Her smiling face represents that she is happy which will make the reader feel positive too though.

22. I chose this image for the page as it is not so blurry and my model has a happy look on her face and it looks realistic, which is what I am aiming for in this. It makes my magazine individual as it shows I have thought about what I want and included my own creativity in it, rather than copying another magazines styles and ideas. Its important to be individual.
