Examples Of Logical Opposition
V.Logical Opposition (Square of Opposition) Opposition is the relation existing between
propositions having the same subject and predicate but different quality or quantity or both. There
are four types of opposition: contradiction, contrariety, sub contrariety, and sub alternation. While
quality and quantity are absolute properties of proposition, logical opposition is considered as a
relative property of proposition because opposition happens only when we relate two propositions
with the same subject and predicate. Types of Opposition A. Contradiction Contradiction is the
opposition existing between two propositions having the same subject, the same predicate, but
different quality and quantity. It is the opposition between A and... Show more content on

of an opposite or contrary meaning. By prefixing the term with non , un , im , dis , il , and other

opposite meaning. All men are not immortal. Subject copula predicate men mortal 3.Negate the

then it is changed to affirmative, if it is affirmative it is changed to negative. All men are not

Traditional Research Methods Of Quantitative And...
Traditional research methods consist of implementing quantitative and qualitative research.
Quantitative research utilizes statistical analysis by breaking down components of observation that
are compared to other elements (Bergman, M. M., 2008). Qualitative research focuses on
investigating the participant s range of behavior, usually with small groups, which results in
descriptive analysis (Bergman M. M., 2008).
Mixed method research involves using Qualitative research and Quantitative research designs. The
advantage of using both is to utilize the strength of each type in order to produce an outcome that is
most beneficial to the area of study (Bergman, M. M., 2008). The challenge with mixed method
research in integrating the results of both Qualitative and Quantitative results in order to present
unbiased scientific results that are worthy of discussion (Bergman, M. M., 2008).
Action research is a practical or real world approach to a profession inquiry in a social setting.
Educational professionals may use this approach to evaluate an existing teaching method or review
a new method that may be considered for use in the classroom. Action research can be implemented
using mixed methods and conducted my an individual or in collaboration with other professionals.
Inclusive Physical Education embraces the needs of students with physical impairments and
includes them in the physical education curriculum (Goodwin, 2000). The research on students

Super Power Should Have More Benefits Of Power
At some point in our lives, we all wished we had super powers. Most of us grew up watching
movies like Superman or The Incredibles, which awakened in us the desire to have their
abilities. I used to imagine how different, easy and awesome my life would be if I were to have
super powers, but I never thought on which one would I prefer if I were told to pick just one. It
is indeed a difficult answer, since there are so many choices of useful and incredible powers; but I
would say that having Superhuman Speed is the most convenient and valuable of them all. Being
super fast has more benefits than any other power because it does not only include super speed but
also timetraveling, eating whatever you like without getting fat, and going anywhere... Show more

If you are super fast, you could be anywhere in a matter of minutes or seconds, without the need of
a car. You could get ready a few minutes you and never be late to school or work. If you wantto go
to a place and you don t have the tickets or permission to enter, you could just run so fast that no
one would notice you and that way you ll get to be there without complications. If you want to
take your date to Italy to eat pizza, you could just run there, eat pizza, and be back the same day.
You could sneak out from your house and go to the party your parents did not allow you to go to,
and they would never know. You would be able to go anywhere, at any time and all the times you
want.
Having super human speed gives you more than just the ability to run fast, but the opportunity to
do many things while you are running. With this super power, life would be much more exciting
and you would have less things to worry about. A great superpower is one that will bring you
happiness, and at the same time will solve your problems or allow you to help others. That is what

What Does The Cat In The Sky Mean
In THE GOLDEN CAT, Gabriel King continues the enchanting quest that began with The Wild
Road the novel the San Francisco Chronicle crowned mythical, and Richard Adams, author of
Watership Down, deemed absolutely magical. . .
The ancient prophecy speaks of a golden cat whose coming will heal the troubled world. But the
Queen of Cats has three golden kittens and when two are stolen away, the distraught parents turn to
Tag, the brave young cat who is the protector of the magical Wild Road.
The desperate search moves from the water lit Oceanarium and sun dappled Tintagel to the distant
Louisiana bayous and the pyramids of Egypt. As Tag and his friends struggle on, so does a
terrifying, unearthly force a preternatural vortex threatening the Wild Road, tearing at the very
fabric of existence. But Tag is disastrously unprepared for the powerful darkness that threatens to
consume everything in its walk.
This poem by W.B Yeats explores a cat dancing in the moonlight which indicates very childlike
images. The cat in the poem (Minnaloushe) allegedly belonged to Maude Gonne, who was in fact a

As the moon is on its own in the sky, the cat is also noted as alone, important and wise . Another
similarity between the two is that of their changing. The moon changes shape throughout its
phases from circular to crescent, just as the cat s eyes will change from round to crescent, From
crescent to round . This in itself can be interpreted as some sort of a dance. This shows that
although the two are different in so many ways, they are still close kindred and can change with
each other. The changes in the cat s eyes could be its eyes dilating, or could be the reflections of
the moon in its eyes, seeming to change as the moon does. However, more importantly, the
changing of the cat s eyes could also link with Gonne s changing relationships with various other

A Case For Breach Of Agreement
At the point when the carrier acknowledges conveying risky goods, he acknowledges conveying
the danger. This does not mean the shipper will not be liable. When both parties know the nature
of goods and something goes wrong, the case resembles some other cargo case. If the shipper has
told the carrier of the hazardous nature of the load, the shipper cannot be absolved from riskin the
event that he is careless in satisfying obligations on his part and neglecting to take important
precautions.
4.5Extent of Liability
Hague/Hague Visby Rules Article IV/6 contains that ... the shipper of such goods shall be liable
for all damages and expenses directly or indirectly arising out of or resulting from such shipment...
Does the expression directly or indirectly subject to the shipper to a risk more than that which
would apply on account of a common case for harms for breach of agreement or for a legally
binding indemnity? It is battled that the words did not influence the operation of the customary
standard that, without a reasonable procurement in actuality, a man cannot uphold an indemnity
where one of the viable purposes of his misfortune is his own wrongful demonstration. The law has
built up various principles with the end goal of constraining harms for breach of agreement. As
needs be, no misfortune might be recuperated by a method for harms on the off chance that it is an
excessively remote result of the breach. In contracts, the test of remoteness is whether the

Gender Roles In The Han Dynasty
Within the Han Dynasty, there were three different social levels: emperor and their family, skilled
workers (farmers and merchants), and unskilled workers (servants and slaves). These three
classes were determined by social and economic standings within each family. The gender roles
within the region saw that women were not viewed as equally as men, for the women s major role
was to birth raise children, and take care of the household. The social class system in the Han
Dynastycan be closely compared to the caste system in present day India since the unskilled are at
the bottom while the more highly people are at the top.

Sydney Carton Suffering
It is impossible to have a world without suffering; however, it s also impossible to have a world
without joy. There has to be a balance of both good and bad in our world even if we hope life will
be joyful all the time. To have joy, there must be pain in the world as well. It can sometimes be a
hard idea to accept, especially when we re dealing with sufferingfirsthand, but it s just a part of
life. In many cases, progress comes after suffering in some way. Suffering is hard but it s
beneficial so that we can find joy and make change because of it and make progress.
Getting out of a bad place to find peace or happiness happens many times. Suffering serves as
motivation for both individuals and groups of people to get to a happier place in ... Show more

Suffering may even happen on its own to make progress. People like Sydney Carton from the
book A Tale of Two Cities realize that unless he gives everything, the promise of a new peaceful
future will remain unfulfilled. Paralleling Dickens novel, Karl Marx believed that knowing and
having suffering will bring a synthesis of some sort (Stearns, Burns 6). Sometimes we forget
that suffering can be self inflicted as well as out of our control. Here the fictional character
Sydney Carton takes someone s place to die to save someone he loves. He didn t want to do this,
but in order to make progress in the world he felt it was necessary. Along with an individual
causing suffering to produce, similarly the larger universe can have suffering to cause change.
To explain why suffering happens, Tom Honey in a TED talk said Perhaps there is a great,
cosmic plans that allows for horrible suffering so that everything will work out okay in the end
(3). Even though Honey is a Christian and not everyone believes in what he does, everyone can
think about the possibility of something big causing all suffering. The idea of a greater plan in
the universe causing suffering to cause progress is just another way to think about the role of
suffering. In both cases progress can be seen after suffering. People tend to think about when it s
been caused by outside forces. There can be times when someone has sacrificed purposely to
help progress. Sydney Carton made the hard but necessary decision to him to die to save Lucie.
The sacrifice allowed Lucie and her family to stay together. This was possible because Sydney
gave his life. Suffering brings about change that couldn t have come without it. When a tsunami
struck and caused devastating losses, Honey came up with new ways of thinking about God. He s
making progress in his faith which was caused from the suffering. Times of suffering are never
good for anyone

The solubility of a substance is the amount of that substance that dissolved in a given amount of
solvent. Solubility of substance is affected by some factors such as temperature, pressure and the
nature of the intermolecular forces or interionic forces in both the solute and the solvent. The
solubility of solid and liquids usually increase as the temperatures increase. Differ with gases, its
solubilitydecrease with increasing temperature. For pressure, it has minimal effect on the solubility
of solids and liquids. Both the solute and the solventhave two different categories which are polar

non polar molecules are best solvated by non polar solvent. This concept is known as like

Concentration Of Iron And Chemical Substance
Concentration of Iron in an Unknown Substance
Jack Boswell
Experiment 5
Megan Otting and Dr. Caster
Introduction:
The objective of this lab was to determine the concentration of iron (Fe+2) in an unknown substance
using a spectrophotometer. Spectrophotometry is a process that uses a sample solution to determine
how much light a chemical substance absorbs by measuring the intensity of a beam of light passing
through the solution. Every substance transmits light over a specific wavelength range, so
spectrophotometry is often used to measure the amount of a known chemical in an unknown
substance. White light, or sunlight, is shot through the opening slit of a cuvette containing the
substance. The reflection of the substance by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Absorbance and concentration provide a starting point for an analysis of many substances. The
absorbencies of solutions of known concentrations are plotted on a Beer s law plot. Then, using
absorbencies calculated and dilution factors, one can calculate the concentration of a substance in a
solution. In this lab, I was able to successfully use spectrophotometry to calculate the average
concentration of iron in an unknown solution.
Methods:
In order to calculate the concentration of iron in an unknown substance, many steps had to be
taken. First, a stock iron solution was prepared by measuring exactly 0.0135g of ferrous
ammonium sulfate [Fe(NH4)2(SO4)2В·6H2O], mixing it with approximately 5.2mL of 2.0 M
H2SO4, and diluting the solution to 200mL. Following this, a diluted 1,10 phenanthroline
solution was prepared by obtaining approximately 50.0mL of 1,10 phenanthroline monohydrate
in ethanol solution and diluting it to 200mL with deionized (DI) water. Then 9 200 mL
volumetric flasks were cleaned and labeled A I. Flasks B F were filled with exactly 2.00, 5.00,
10.00, 25.00, and 50.00 mL of the stock iron solution respectively. Flask A was used as a control
and was instead filled with 100mL of DI water. Flasks G,H, and I were filled with exactly
25.00mL of Unknown Iron Solution E0717. Then all flasks A I received approximately 2.0mL of
hydroxylammonium chloride solution,

British East India Company
The British East India changed the lives of both people in Britain and people in Asia. In Britain it
changed their lives by making them rich, introducing them to new products and providing them
with foreign luxuries. The British East India Company bought products such as pepper and
porcelain back to Britain to be used by the people. It also introduced new things like tea and cloves.
The British East India Company was a trading company that traded with Britain and Asia. The
Company itself made lots of money through buying produce from people in Asia and selling it
back in Britain. The British East India Company had a very big army which they used against
pirates on the sea and against anyone that attacked Britain. The British East India Company traded
drugs with people in Asia to get silver to trade with in other places. The British East India
Company made lots of profit with buying stuff from Asia for really cheap and then selling it again
when they got back to Britain for ridiculously expensive prices. The British East India Company
took a couple of decades to get where it did!
The British East India Company changed the lives of people in Britain by bringing them new
unique foods, luxuries and spices. It also brought them new land to colonize on. The British East
India Company gave Britain its army and its navy. Some of the unique foods and spices that the
British East India Company brought to Britain was tea, salt, pepper, cloves and many more. One

Sacred Space Research Paper
What is sacred space?
Upon hearing the words sacred and space together, you may be inclined to think of a place of
sanctity; spiritual spaces that invite prayer, worshipping of the divinities or a place built for
peace and harmonious gatherings. Why were these spaces created? In the past, human beings
believed that sacred spaces were an imperative method to reaching out to their divine gods and
religions, as a link between mortal and god. These spaces have some relation Heidegger s concept
of the four fold: the idea of creating and implementing spaces that link to the earth, sky, mortals
and divinities. He believed that this bridge is a thing of this sort. The location allows the simple

Of course, with different cultures and religions in different countries, many sacred spaces have
varying visual forms and purposes; a circle of freestanding stones may not look similar to the
Lotus Temple in India, but they may share some form of spiritual tranquility. The Pantheon,
however, is a building that has no clear purpose as a sacred space, although it is rumored to have
been a temple due to the style of the decorations. One thing for certain was the fact that it had been
built in order to have some link to the divinities and the sky, hence Pantheon meaning honor all
gods in Greek. The dome of the Pantheon had been built with near perfect hemispherical geometry,
something that human beings consider divine tier and something that they strive for when creating
sacred space: the perfect geometry. Rudolf Wittkower argues that natural creations, such as the
proportions and symmetry of the human frame, the relationships between planets or the intervals of
musical harmony, seemed to follow geometric ratios, and that if the products of architecture were to
possess the same conceptual integrity they too should be designed using perfect figures, symmetry
and harmonic mathematical proportions (2009,

Pros and Cons for Outsourcing

This response came on the statement of the head of U.S. President George W. Bush s Council of

If hitech industries are no longer competitive, where will new jobs be created?
This previous theoretical introduction didn t made the discussion between the pros and cons yet
clear. It simply shoes some arguments of a proponent and a opponent. We still need hard evidence
from both parties to give a good view on the truth.
PROS VIEW
Opponents of outsourcing are talking about the fact that American workers are losing their jobs
cause of the labor movements. This is off course a fact, but what are the actual numbers ?
The Mckinsey Global institute (2003) notes that in the upcoming 5 years , the growth was going
to be around 30 40%. Forrester Research predicts that the total outsourced jobs will be around 3,3
million in 2015. According to projections, the hardest hit sectors will be financial services and
information technology (IT). In one May 2003 survey of chief information officers, 68 percent of
IT executives said that their offshore contracts would grow in the subsequent year (Mckinsey
Global institute,2003).
Therefore, at first sight the perception of the opponents is really sustainable. The total growth in
the last two years (2002 2003) was really good, the productivity growth was even greater. The
overall job growth have been really alarming. This indicates that the opponents are right in their
perception.
Controversially, if you unpack the numbers,

there will be a greater oversight of their operations and more transparency among the nations.
This will help with making strategic attacks so ISIL can be degraded and destroyed and also so

Essay on Liberation Theology in Latin America
The populist governments, seen in the 1950 s and 1960 s in South America, spurred industrial
growth and a sense of consciousness amongst the inhabitants of the Latin American countries. The
industrial growth greatly benefited the middle class and the working class; however, the poor were
driven into shantytowns and rural areas. To illustrate the great poverty of this time in Latin
America, people living in shantytowns resided in vast settlements built of cardboard and other
available materials such as metal and sheets of plastic. These towns frequently lacked proper
sanitation. One could imagine how living in these shantytowns would degrade the human spirit and

Canadians citizens of Canada disagree. Some Canadians think it s unfair that the government will
pay immigrants to live in Canada and help them assimilate to new culture, while the Canadians
think the unfair part is they have to work for all that without getting paid, while the Canadians
need to work for a life in Canada. In the past, people with different skin tones weren t even aloud

People wouldn t feel safe at school because all the threats and hate that was getting thrown at them.
Therefore, Canadians and immigrants aren t equal. Canadians discriminate towards the immigrants
which causes the immigrants to feel less welcome and safe, while the only reason the Canadians
are doing that is because they don t feel equal to them because they don t get the same advantages as

Courage In William Faulkner s The Ardennes Forest
Although there are several themes throughout the book, the major theme is courage. Courage is
displayed not only by
General Patton but also by the soldiers he led. In the Ardennes Forest, the Americans were
outnumbered five to one, and they were low on food and weapons, but they never gave in even
though it would have been easy to do so. They held the line until help arrived.
Another possible theme of the book is egotism. General Patton thought he was a better leader than
any other military leader including his commander, General Omar Bradley, and the Supreme
Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe, General Dwight Eisenhower so he resented it when
they gave him an order. Adolf Hitlerwas also led by his ego. It was Hitler s ego that led

It seems like every week we hear about thousands and thousands of people losing their jobs. Back
in the 1980s most of the job losses were in the blue collar sector. In the 1990s it seems many of the
cuts were made in the white collar, management jobs. Why? Think about it. Technology, to a large
extent, has driven organizations to change the way they operate and that includes the way they
manage. We re going to take an in depth look at how organizations work and how they ve been
transformed by technology on the world stage.
Information systems are the foundation for conducting business today. In many industries, survival
and even existence is difficult without extensive use of information technology. No longer can we
imagine going to work and conducting business without them. As a society we have come to rely
extensively on the use of information appliances such as cell phones, BlackBerrys, handhelds, and
other hardware. Communicating and conducting business is increasingly being carried out through
the use of e mail, online conferencing, and international teleconferencing over the Internet have all
become essential tools of business.

Dehumanization In Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis
This is, for sure, a symbol of Gregor s dehumanization. Although he still thinks that he has the
mindset of a human despite his transformation into a vermin, he is losing his human like
interests. In the passage before this one, Gregor was complaining about how hungry he was
because he hadn t eaten since before he had transformed, but when he is presented which
something to consume, he refuses it. Not only does he refuse it, but he is disgusted by it. Kafka
even goes as far as to say that Gregor loathed the milk. Milk was once Gregor s favorite beverage,
but he no longer wants it, perhaps because he transformed into a giant vermin. The passage goes
on to explain how Gregor is completely revolted by the fresh fruit and how he prefers to... Show

Throughout the whole story so far, Gregor has felt nothing but fear or concern for his family.
Now, he is finally showing that he is afraid and worried for his life. Transforming into a bug has
taught Gregor many things. He has learned that his family isn t really there for him too much, he
found that he is different from everyone else psychologically, and now he has learned that he
needs to protect himself. As Gregor runs from his father, he shows fear. He is afraid that he
harmed or possibly killed his mother, he is afraid that he shocked Grete, but overall, he is afraid
that his father is going to kill him. Gregor hasn t really communicated with his father in a loving
way, whenever the father is around, their interaction seems forced or very business like. He was
not concerned when Gregor was trapped in his room, he just did not want Gregor to lose his job.
Now, while the father knows that there is a very high probability of this bug being his son, he
still attempts to kill and harm him. The father lifts his shoes high, most likely to frighten Gregor
or to try to crush him beneath the soles. Later, he throws fruit at him, and an apple even becomes
lodged in Gregor s shell, handicapping him for a few days. This leads me to ask this question; What
are the father s feelings towards Gregor? Does he actually view him as a son or is he only a source
of money? Is he disappointed in Gregor? Would he prefer a harder working, more confident son?
The father is actually quite tough on Gregor, the same way Franz Kafka s father was mentally and
physically tough on him as a boy. Kafka s father was disappointed in his son, but he still pushed
him. The large soles of the father s shoes could symbolize how Kafka felt like his father always
metaphorically stepped on him and crushed his self confidence. The way Kafka describes how
large and strong the father looks is definitely symbolic of Kafka s own father,

Any given mission may have unique characteristics regarding the conflict, mandate, and beneficiary
local population. However, only one mission will be considered, given the logistical constraints of
collecting detailed information in many different locations. Despite this constraint, a large enough
sample will reveal if peacekeeping soldiers are having difficulty resolving value conflicts
concerning SEAs. Interviews will be conducted after pre deployment training. This will allow all
soldiers to be similarly exposed to the consequences of sexual misconduct and informed about the
gendered perspective concerning sexual misconduct. While training may vary, the UN produces
the guidelines centrally. Prior to all interviews, demographic data that may be helpful in the
analysis will be collected, including Gender Identification, Nationality, Age, and Rank. All
interviewees will be approved for participation by his or her commanding officer as well as the
head of the mission. All records of the interviews will be subject for review and elimination at the

History of Income Tax
Income tax is a vital source of funds to any government. Money raised by taxing the working
population can be used to fund infrastructure development as well as improving the standard of
living in the country. United Kingdom was the first the country to establish a working income tax
on its civilians in 1799. Initially implemented as a temporary source of income to fund the war to
beat Napoleon, income taxis now an essential source of revenue for the government all over the
world. This report will look at the significance of income taxin the UK since the late 18th century,
through World War 1 and World War 2, and how it has evolved into the tax system, currently in

Even though Sir Robert Peel was not in favour of income tax, he introduced income tax again in
his Budget of 1842 that was considered to be one of the most famous in the 19th century. Peel
taxed people earning above ВЈ150, this resulted in favour of the less wealthy people. Also under
custom duties there were 1200 articles, of which Peel reduced 750 articles on his budget. His
taxation plan was on action for a period of three years. But it was extended for another two years
due to an increase in the national expenditure, and also to help the national railways because the
railway industry had less money. When cheaper imports were available, Corn Laws were created
which is a tariff on imports. This helped the local farmers as they had a competitive advantage,
but Peel repealed the Corn Laws. This made him loose support of his party. William Galdstone and
Benjamin Disraeli had complete authority during the second half of the 19th century. From the
year 1853 to 1866, William Gladstone was elected as the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Gladstone
did not follow Peel s method of income tax policy; instead he wanted to terminate it. He also
believed that government spending should be kept to a minimum level. Gladstone reduced the
income tax exemptions from ВЈ150 to ВЈ100; he thought that if more people pay then there would
be a huge pressure form the public to repeal the tax. But in order to fund the Crimean war,

Self Confidence Speech
Self confidence helps children and adults be more successful individuals. People with self
confidence make friends easier, accomplish more, and are less likely to be plagued with sleep
disorders, social disorders, depression, and anxiety. Obviously teaching your kids to be self
confident is an important parental responsibility. Five of the best ways to do this is to let your
children known its okay to make mistakes, to expose them to new activities, places and people
every day, to show unconditional love, avoid comparisons to others and encourage rather than
praise.
Mistakes Are Okay The fastest way to decrease a child s self confidence is to make them afraid of
making a mistake. You may think only a really mean parent would make their child feel bad
about themselves just for making a mistake, but it isn t as easy as that. Kids are very good at
picking up feelings of disappointment, disapproval, and shame. They are also very good at
blaming themselves for everything that goes wrong. Being over protective (and let s be honest,
you know if you are) can create a deep feeling of insecurity for a child. You tell your child to not
run through the house and then you around and he s fallen and skinned his knee and he ll feel that
he got hurt because he was bad. The more controlling and domineering you are as a parent the less
you child will believe in themselves. Instead bring your child to many different events and places
and encourage, not push them to try anything and everything.

john adams revolution Essay
john adams revolution John Adams explains how the revolution began when he says, The
Revolution was effected before the war commenced (37 38). The Revolution was in the minds
and hearts of the people, proving there was a feeling of revolution as soon as people left England
to come to the New World (25). The duelfor America created a restlessness among the independent
minded Americans. However, mother England saw the necessity of holding her colonies.
Eventually, tension is felt between the two sides, resulting in colonial unity and the sovereignty of
a new republic. There were many causes and effects of the American

For many reasons, tension grew in the relationship between Britain and America.
Tensions first arose when the London government issued the Proclamation of 1763. This
proclamation prohibited settlement in the area beyond the Appalachians, by the colonies.
This angered many Americans because they felt that the land was their birthright, but this document
was not drawn up to oppress the colonies, but it was made to work out the
Indian problem to prevent another uprising like Pontiac s. Mercantilism also added to the tension
between Britain and America. Tension arose from mercantilism because
Americans were not at liberty to buy, sell, ship or manufacture under conditions that they found
most profit. The Boston Gazette explained how the colonists felt about mercantilism by stating, A
colonist cannot make a button, a horseshoe, nor a hobnail, but some snotty ironmonger of Britain
shall bawl and squall that his honor s worship is most egregiously maltreated, injured, cheated, and
robbed by the rascally American republics, proving that the colonists were very upset about
England s new laws of mercantilism (22 23). Also, many Virginian planters were plunged into a
dept by the falling price of tobacco, and were forced to buy their necessities in England, by
mortgaging future crops. Mercantilism also showed favoritism for the southern colonies over the
northern colonies,

conflicting sides, each member has their own point of view based on a plethora of statistics. These
statistics include but are not limited to, socio economic classes, race, geographical boundaries,

over what truly occurred. These discrepancies are portrayed quite well through Bernal Diaz s The

The favour he now begged of the great Montezuma was that he should listen to the words he now

no more robbery or sodomy. (Diaz 602) In this passage Diaz claimed that they were simply
trying to spread the word of God and stop some of the unnecessary bloodshed and violence that
took place in the Aztec s culture. However, in the account told by the Aztec s, [The Spaniards] ran
everywhere; they invaded every room, hunting and killing (Broken Spears 614). It is apparent here
that the interpretations do not match up in these two selections. This makes it hard to believe
either since the two have such immense renditions of the true intention of the Spaniards. Yet
another significant difference is the intention of the Spaniards. In Diaz s story he claimed, ...that
in coming to see and speak with such a great prince we had fulfilled the purpose of our voyage
and the orders of our lord the king (Diaz 601). That account claimed that all the Spaniards wanted
was was to spread Christianity and meet someone in a high ranking position. It would be fair to say
that they Spaniards wanted nothing more than to explore yet something

Meno Vs Socrates
In Plato s Meno, there are many arguments Socrates and Meno encounter. They never seem to find
a common ground and that leads to disagreements. The disagreements seem to never become an
agreement because not only does Socrates makes it so difficult to give a definition of a word that
he thinks is suitable but Meno is just letting him change his mind about his definition. The
argument does not just consist on if knowledgean opinion can be taught, they argue that knowledge
can be the only way to find correct actions, but opinion can also mean the same. Meno brings up a
question, What makes Knowledge so prized than correct opinion. Socratesanswers with an example

It s basically something that he or she may already believe, but just need to be taught in order for it
to become knowledge.
I belief that saying that a person can be taught to have knowledge is the same as saying a person
who already beliefs in a topic or subject has a opinion. Which we know that opinion can be
taught, but so can knowledge because you are teaching an opinion that soon will become a
piece of information in a person s mind and that is what the definition is for knowledge. In other
words, by learning an Opinion then they also will be receiving knowledge. Again like Socrates
explains what Daedalus had told him about how we all will always have knowledge but our true
opinion can be lost and maybe never be thought again. For a true opinion to stay in our minds we
need to practice and think about the idea or a fact and turn it into an argument. In conclusion, a
man or woman who has both knowledge and True Opinions one will only be stored in the long
term part of your brain and the other will only be stored in the short term part of the brain. His
and her knowledge with be stored in the long term memory because they both will need that for a
longer period of their life and their true opinions only are important in the short run of your life.
Having both are important because they both are needed for our life but they both have different
uses so they can t be considered to be the same thing if they

The Unconverted Self By Jonathan Boyarin Essay
In The Unconverted Self, author Jonathan Boyarin reexamines the relationship between Christian
Europe and the world around it, especially in the context of interreligious dialogue as a means of
defining Christian identity. The common school of thought, as presented in this book, is that
European identity reaches modernity after 1492 with the discovery of the radically different
culture of Indigenous Americans (p. 9). Boyarin argues that this is untrue, as this belief operates
under the incorrect assumption that the European people were a homogenous population (p.9).
Instead, Boyarin seeks to move beyond the concept of two separate Europes, and proposes instead
that this othering that was so critical to define Christian identity was already occurring in pre
contact Europe (p. 1). For this, Boyarin looks to the Jewish and Muslim populations of Europe as a
replacement for the Indigenous American peoples. He asserts that this sense of the other
threatening Christendom existed far before 1492, and outlines the ways in which this conflict in
religious dimensionality was vital to the formation of Christian identity. Boyarin s volume presents
a concise read that reexamines existing scholarship and recontextualizes historical events to create
a convincing argument, as well as provide questions for future scholarship to build upon. However,
there were aspects in this book that were lacking, causing it to be an almost tedious read at parts.

Essay On My Responsibility To America
My Responsibility to America What is my responsibility to America? To answer this question I
must first answer two others. What is responsibility? Oxford dictionary defines responsibility as the
state of fact of having a duty to deal with something or having control over someone. This definition
is exactly what I am trying to portray when explaining my responsibility to America. Our educators,
soldiers, politicians, innovators, farmers, and businessmen have all had a dutysince the birth of this
nation. Second, what does America mean to me? When I think of this country the first thing that

We all have basic responsibilities, like obtaining a high school diploma, voting, serving on a jury,
and paying taxes. While these are important this topic is so much more than that. We, as the
younger generation, have responsibilities to America that are not only important, but are crucial
to the future of our nation. The rights we hold are not given without obligations. Rights go hand
in hand with responsibilities; if rights are abused they are taken away or cease to exist all
together. Think about a basic right; freedom of speech for example. If we were to never exercise
this right, never spoke out when something needed to be said, the right would easily be taken
away. This is just one of the many examples. The only way to preserve a right is to use it, and
use it well. It is our responsibility to exercise our rights. This responsibility brings the obligation
to not harm anyone in my progress to pursue these rights. I believe it is my responsibility to
contribute and be an active member in today s society by taking the opportunities I am presented,
and making new opportunities for future generations. It is my responsibility to pave the way for
future generations, for they will follow in my footsteps, just like I have followed in the footsteps of

Interpreter Professionalism
Professionalism, described as the competence or skill expected of a professional , is an important
issue I see in the field of interpreting today. Although there are a variety of settings with ongoing
issues of professionalism with practicing interpreters, this assessment will focus on the issues with
K 12 interpreters. The issues with professionalism I see are inconsistencies with conduct (while
autonomous and in a team setting), education (interpreters with minimal education or lack of
formal interpreter training), and continuing education (interpreters who don t attend workshops

The Consequences Of Death In Frankenstein By Mary Shelly
Frankenstein by Mary Shelly shows the journey of a man that craves knowledge and because of
this he eventually creates life himself. However, the outcome was not what he had planned and
he fled from his creation and what was to follow were severe consequences. Victor sees his
creation as a monster and a mistake. The creature has committed some horrible actions that give
Victor a reason to believe this. However, when the creature speaks of what has happened to him,
Victor begins to sympathize with him. The same may be said about the readers. Readers are able to

attention, and comparing the different versions of the creature through time.
Frankenstein s creature learns how to speak when he is hiding near the Delacey family. He gains

develops an emotional connection the the family and shares in their joy and sorrow. Through
this, the readers are able to see the the creature is capable of emotions There he learns about the

Harvest At La Crau Distinctively Visual Analysis Essay
In this short written assignment, I will analyze two paintings View form my window, Eragny sur

theme rural life, as I explore the color, the composition and the main painting objects of the two
pantings. and state how the two paintings speak differently to my sense.
First, It s not hard to find that artists painted the two paintings in different seasons. Van Gogh used

Henry V Irony
The Irony Depicted in Shakespeare s Henry V
As Norman Rabkin has observed, Henry V is a play which organizes critics into rival camps of
interpretation (35). It can be seen as a play that is ambiguous; a play that exposes the playwright s
own indecision; a play that aggressively takes sides in favour of nationalistic fervour which
Shakespeare himself didn t believe in (35). All of these views, writes Rabkin, are wrong since
according to him the play s ultimate power lies in its ability to point in two opposite directions,
virtually daring us to choose one of the two opposed interpretations (36). In fact, it is Rabkin that is
wrong: not in his supposition that the play dares the audience to choose, but rather, that a reading ...

In the case of the duplicity of Scrope and the other traitors, Henry makes them examples during
their public humiliation (Brennan 42), a public demonstration, furthermore, of his sense of
injury. In Rabkin s words, he knows how to give a good performance, verification of his political
acumen (Either/Or 45). Unlike his predecessors, this is a king who can recognize that he is in
fact a role more than he is a man, and that ceremony consists only in what is conferred by others.
(Rabkin 46). He is so dangerously pragmatic because he is far less detectable and unsettling
because he has none of Richard III s vice like propensity, and we are liable to find his image
building similar to modern politicians (Brennan 24).
This is precisely the kind of brutal clarity that helps in his construction and use of the U.K. s
burgeoning state hood as we know it in the modern sense: the modern world in which every
action of a leader is shaped for public consumption (Brennan 32). The nation is but a mass of
potential chaos, a multiplicity which only reaches its potential as a political, unitary force when it
is summoned for battle. Henry s use of his soldiers for instance, and stress on unity (their shared
experience and camaraderie of Act ....), leads to the illusory notion that there is a possibility of
nobility for those who earn it (Brennan

Margaret Sanger s Revolution For Women s Rights
Margaret Sanger s Revolution for Women s Rights Today the world s population consists of more
than seven billion people living on Earth, half of which are of men and the other half women.
Now imagine living in a world where those seven billion people didn t have rights connected to
their own bodies. In the field of reproductive rights, imagine if there was no form of contraceptives,
birth control, or any type of sexual education information to the public. The world would be in
shambles being over populated beyond capacity for life on Earth. This have might have been the
case if it weren t for the advocate in her field called Margaret Sanger. Sanger was a wife, mother,
nurse, entrepreneur, and founder of world wide organization known as... Show more content on

Upon becoming a nurse she took care of many poor families in the urban overcrowded streets of
families that lived in New York. One particular case she always told was the story of Sadie Sachs
which influenced her to really do something about women s rights and control over their own
bodies. That influenced me to pick her to write and research about her. As the story went Sanger
said, Sadie had developed an infection from an illegal abortion and begged Sanger and the
doctor to tell her how to prevent another child, thinking it would kill her. The doctor scoffed at
her remark and promptly left, leaving Sachs with Sanger. She begged for her to tell her a way to
prevent conception, but Sanger could not tell her anything, as it was illegal, (Katzive, 2015, p.
128). She felt enraged by how she couldn t simply help a women in need of wanting to learn
how to prevent herself from having any more children. After the incident she met her future
husband, William Sanger and together they had three children. Not only did William give
Margaret the gift of children and a family, but also gave her the opportunity to finally share her
knowledge of the topic pertaining to women and the use of contraception. Since William belonged
the Socialist Party, Sanger became affiliated with The New York Call. This was a socialist
newspaper where not only did she write a column on birth control, but later she got an opportunity
to create her own newspaper which was called The Woman Rebel.

Mitchell v. Lovington Good Samaritan Center, Inc., 555 P.2d 696 (1976).
Facts: The appellee was terminated from the Lovington Good Samaritan Center, Inc. on June 4,
1974. On June 12, 1974 Mrs. Mitchell applied for unemployment compensation benefits. She was
initially disqualified from seven weeks of benefits by a deputy of the Unemployment Security
Commission. Mrs. Mitchell then filed an appeal, and the Appeal Tribunal reversed the deputy s
decision. Mrs. Mitchell s benefits were reinstated on August 28, 1974. On September 13, 1974 the
Center appealed the decision made by the Appeal tribunal to the whole Commission. The
Commission overruled the Appeal Tribunal and reinstated the seven week disqualification period.

At issue is whether the misconduct which warranted the termination rose to the level of misconduct
which would warrant the denial of unemployment compensation. Rodman recognizes the last straw
doctrine, but contends that the district court erred in applying the rule in this case because her
infractions on February 15 were the result of third parties over whom she had no control. Rodman
contends that she may not be denied unemployment benefits where the last straw which led to her
termination was not willful or intentional, especially where, under the employer s policy, she could
not have been discharged at all prior to this final incident.
Issue: If substantial evidence existed that Rodman s conduct on February 15, considered in light of
the totality of circumstances including her previous history of personal phone calls and
unauthorized visitors, showed a willful or wanton disregard for her employee s interests, then
Rodman s benefits were properly denied.
Rule: We believe that termination for a series of incidents which, taken together, may constitute
misconduct is distinguishable from termination for a single incident following one or more
corrective action notices. In the latter event, as here, we hold that the last straw must demonstrate a
willful or wanton disregard for the employer s interests for unemployment benefits to be denied.

Michelle Carter Suicide
Is this the day you succumb to your problems and listen to the thoughts, or will you keep on going?
These are the thoughts that were running through Conrad Roy s mind when he was texting his
girlfriend. The Suicide by text case has prompted many people to discuss social issues such as
mental illness and the court system. Michelle Carter was a young teenager who texted her
boyfriend telling him to commit suicidemultiple times. She is now facing years in prison for
involuntary manslaughter. The court system failed with this case but not drastically. They gave
her 2.5 years when she should have been charged as an adult and received twenty years. In June,
Moniz found Carter guilty of involuntary manslaughter, describing her behavior as reckless.
Carter received less years than usual because it was considered reckless and she only wanted
attention. She did not get the full sentence because she was not loved as much as she felt she
should have been. She should have received the full years, but this case was not as bad as others.
The 2.5 year sentence is long, but not long enough for costing someone his life because she wanted

issues. He also explored the issues of family/father relationships in his films Crooklyn (1994),
Get on the Bus (1996) and He Got Game (1998). In his films School Daze (1988), Do The Right
Thing (1989), Jungle Fever (1991), Get on the Bus (1996), Summer of Sam (1999) and

A Project Manager For Monitor And Control The Execution Of...
Once a project is begun, it is important for a project manager to monitor and control the execution
of the endeavor. A project manager must observe and examine how the work is progressing, the
costs, application of the resources required, and if the schedule is being sustained with the overall
project plan. This is especially important when a project manageruses the earned value management
(EVM) system to track and monitor an undertaking. EVM and variance management must have
accurate material and labor costs accounted in order to be an effective tool.
Labor and Material Costs
Resources are essential for completion for any project, but must be managed differently because
of the constraints and accounting each specifically demands. Labor, materials, and equipment fall
under the definition of resources and how they are managed within a project will greatly impact
the endeavor (Larson Gray, 2014). An important resource for a project is the human resource or
labor and the skills that each individual brings to the project team. Ordinarily, direct labor is
classified by skills and the costs related to provide those skills to complete the work. Direct labor
costs are normally calculated by multiplying the hours required to complete the task by the salary
scale designated for the task. Indirect labor costs encompass any support staff that is not directly
involved within the project, like human resource, administrative, and other ancillary staff (Webb,
2016). Even though these

Definition Of Learning Management System
Learning Management system In General Computer s applications of education is filled with
generic terms such as computer based instruction (CBI), computer assisted instruction (CAI), and
computer assisted learning (CAL), generally describing drill and practice programs, more
sophisticated tutorials, and more individualized instructions, respectively. LMS has its history in
another term, integrated learning system (ILS) which offers additional functionality beyond
instructional content such as management and tracking, more personalized instruction, and
integration across the system. The term ILS was originally coined by Jostens Learning, and LMS
was originally used to describe the management system part of the many learning systems, content

different educational computer applications. Educators can post announcements, grade
assignments, checking on course activities, and participate in class discussions. Students can

Relationship Status Based On Social Sites
Kayla Vallin Mr. Blair English 121 22 October, 2015 Relationship Status based on Social
Sites(1027) We live in the era of technology and many people say that in a sense social
networking has become their life line to the world. Social networking is a way for people from
anywhere in the world to be involved in someone s life even from a distance. Social networking
has redefined the way people interact with one another (Guo 617). Many of the social networking
sites allow people to communicate what s going on in their life through pictures and from there
other people can comment on the post. In today s world someone can be connected with the touch
of a button. While social networking has affected and strained some relationships it has also had a
positive impact on many other relationships. Expanding one s dating pool and meeting other
people outside their community is one benefit social networking has to offer its users. Before
social networking sites came along millions of adults in the united states were single, of theses
adults they were limited to the amount of possible partners they could interact with due to location
(Thomas and Rosenfeld 523). Since the introduction of social networking sites many relationships
have flourished because people are no longer limited to who they can meet. Now that the dating
pool has expanded when couples meet on opposite sides of the world they are still able to interact
with one another through social networking sites. They are able

Analysis Of Pocahonas s The Labor Problem At Jamestown
Pocahontas main target audience is families and children worldwide. Thus, the film must take
into account different political views and ideologies, while encompassing an appropriate theme
that is suitable for people of all ages. A lot must be considered before creating a storyline that can
affect the minds of children of such young ages because providing a false narrative or a one sided
view may upset particular audiences. The way in which Disney s studios portrays the characters is
how the audience will understand the story of Pocahontasand John Smith. Yet the Disney film
contains an abundance of factual errors that can distort the viewer s ideas. The specific narrative
Disney studios choses portray will be the one that will resonate in the minds of the audiences. The
piece The Indians New World: The Catawba Experience Author by James Merrell and The Labor
Problem at Jamestown by Edmund Morgan both contrast the stark differences between the Disney
movie and the harsh historical reality. However, the film is important in that it brings attention to
the racial injustices between Native Americans and the discriminatory white settlers. First, the
Disney movie was ineffective in providing the audience a balanced representation of the history.
The obvious differences were the downplay of the tensions between the Powhatans and English
Settlers, and the absence of the gory deaths of innocent people from both sides. This was obviously
left out in order to keep the movie

Persuasive Speech On Sexual Assault On College Campuses
Ileana Quintero
CST 110 13
I. Attention Step
Being sexually assaulted is one of the worst things that can happen to anyone during their lifetime.
Thesis/Preview: Sexual assault is a major problem in the United States and, specifically, on
college campuses. While no one thing will be able to solve this issue, I believe RAINN is an
effective charity that is working well to combat sexual assault and raise awareness.
II. Need
1.The problem: Sexual assault has become one of the forefront issues of our day. There has been
an increasing rate of sexual assaults in our society and specifically on college campuses.
2.Here s why this problem is really a problem: According to the national sexual violence resource
center, one in 5 women will be sexually assaulted at some point in their lives. The cost of rape costs
more than any other crime, even drunk driving; so this is one of the most common crimes in the
USA. The national sexual violence resource center also reports that it costs more annually than any
other crime, including drunk driving. Rape comes out to $127 billion while murder only comes out
to $71 billion, and drunk driving $61 billion.
3.Here s how this problem impacts your life, audience: Sexual assault happens very often on
campuses. It can happen to anyone sitting in this room with me here today. 1 in 4 women
experience sexual assault while they are at college. Also, according to the national sexual violence
resource center, one in 5 women will be sexually

The Norfolk Four-Course System Analysis
Recently, there has been a shift of the land: new crops and new owner. As for crops, the Norfolk
four course system has come into popularity; the system is characterized by 4 stages, wheat, then
turnips, next clover and ryegrass which is then left for grazing or fodder. Being able to leave
non producing land for 2 years maybe be a contributor to the new owners. Large farms owned by
the upper class have become more and more dominant over the years. Perhaps it is related to their
ability to follow the Norfolk system; they have the financial stability to leave the land alone.
Maybe it could be their ability to purchase the newest machinery, or it could be their ability to hire
laborers. All of this means it is harder for small farmers to compete.

The Current Behavioral Organization Model As A...
GM is described as an organization with a dysfunctional company culture that somehow still
manages to have amazing results in its work, on a global scale. The key attributes of GM, were
primarily in the changes initiated by Mary Barra after the GM ignition switch recall crisis. Some of
those attributes include her willingness to openly acknowledge the undesirable aspects of the GM
cultureand her efforts to take action towards a resolution. There are also several noticeable
strengths and weaknesses within the organization. One of the biggest weaknesses is the company s
repeated inability to acknowledge that, lack of functional culture and leadership are truly the root
cause of the company s issues. Based on my reading I would describe the current behavioral
organizational modelas a Custodial Model. I chose this model because the managerial orientation is
money, employee orientation is security and benefits and performance results are passive
cooperation. All of these attributes were described in the reading.
Below are the four models that compare the current behavioral organizational model used above to
other models.
I. Autocratic Model
1. Depends on power.
2. Managerial orientation is authority.
3. Employee orientation is obedience.
4. Employee psychological result depends on the boss.
5. Employee needs met is subsistence.
6. Performance result is minimal.
Example: Military/ Soldiers.
II. Supportive Model
1. Depends on leadership.
2. Managerial orientation is

Hybrid Cars And Hybrid Electric Vehicles
In the present generation where automobiles are very important in daily life, there is two types of
cars i.e. Gasoline vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles, hybrid electric cars which used quite a
while but not as much as their gasoline counterparts. The difference between these two cars is
mainly the Engine, tank, and the source on which the cars work. The hybrid electric vehicleis more a
computerized and electric version where it switch between running on gasoline and electricity.
Other than that major changes, these cars are fundamentally the same. The body and the
maneuvering design of these are fundamentally the same. Hybrid cars were few to come by when
they were initially introduced, but current climate change and pollution issues have encouraged
people to opt for the cleaner and greener version of the automobile. Although both kinds of
automobiles are being used, there are a lot of aspects where these automobiles can be differentiated.
A few comparisons between these two vehicles is stated below.
1.HISTORY:
a.Hybrid: This type of engine vehicles were invented in the 19th century but it came into market in
early 2000 and gained popularity in the 2005 from then on many started to use this type of vehicles.
b.Gasoline: This type of vehicles were invented in 1876 in Germany and the usage of these cars
was from 1882 and it is still very much in demand in the market for its features.

Examples Of Logical Opposition V.Logical Opposition (Square of Opposition) Opposition is the relation existing between propositions having the same subject and predicate but different quality or quantity or both. There are four types of opposition: contradiction, contrariety, sub contrariety, and sub alternation. While quality and quantity are absolute properties of proposition, logical opposition is considered as a relative property of proposition because opposition happens only when we relate two propositions with the same subject and predicate. • 3. Traditional Research Methods Of Quantitative And... Traditional research methods consist of implementing quantitative and qualitative research. Quantitative research utilizes statistical analysis by breaking down components of observation that are compared to other elements (Bergman, M. M., 2008). Qualitative research focuses on investigating the participant s range of behavior, usually with small groups, which results in descriptive analysis (Bergman M. M., 2008). Mixed method research involves using Qualitative research and Quantitative research designs. The advantage of using both is to utilize the strength of each type in order to produce an outcome that is most beneficial to the area of study (Bergman, M. M., 2008). The challenge with mixed method research in integrating the results of both Qualitative and Quantitative results in order to present unbiased scientific results that are worthy of discussion (Bergman, M. M., 2008). Action research is a practical or real world approach to a profession inquiry in a social setting. Most of us grew up watching movies like Superman or The Incredibles, which awakened in us the desire to have their abilities. I used to imagine how different, easy and awesome my life would be if I were to have super powers, but I never thought on which one would I prefer if I were told to pick just one. • 5. What Does The Cat In The Sky Mean In THE GOLDEN CAT, Gabriel King continues the enchanting quest that began with The Wild Road the novel the San Francisco Chronicle crowned mythical, and Richard Adams, author of Watership Down, deemed absolutely magical. . . The ancient prophecy speaks of a golden cat whose coming will heal the troubled world. But the Queen of Cats has three golden kittens and when two are stolen away, the distraught parents turn to Tag, the brave young cat who is the protector of the magical Wild Road. The desperate search moves from the water lit Oceanarium and sun dappled Tintagel to the distant Louisiana bayous and the pyramids of Egypt. As Tag and his friends struggle on, so does a terrifying, unearthly force a preternatural vortex threatening the Wild Road, tearing at the very fabric of existence. But Tag is disastrously unprepared for the powerful darkness that threatens to consume everything in its walk. This poem by W.B Yeats explores a cat dancing in the moonlight which indicates very childlike images. The cat in the poem (Minnaloushe) allegedly belonged to Maude Gonne, who was in fact a lifelong obsession ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the moon is on its own in the sky, the cat is also noted as alone, important and wise . Another similarity between the two is that of their changing. The moon changes shape throughout its phases from circular to crescent, just as the cat s eyes will change from round to crescent, From crescent to round . This in itself can be interpreted as some sort of a dance. This shows that although the two are different in so many ways, they are still close kindred and can change with each other. The changes in the cat s eyes could be its eyes dilating, or could be the reflections of the moon in its eyes, seeming to change as the moon does. However, more importantly, the changing of the cat s eyes could also link with Gonne s changing relationships with various other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When both parties know the nature of goods and something goes wrong, the case resembles some other cargo case. If the shipper has told the carrier of the hazardous nature of the load, the shipper cannot be absolved from riskin the event that he is careless in satisfying obligations on his part and neglecting to take important precautions. 4.5Extent of Liability Hague/Hague Visby Rules Article IV/6 contains that ... the shipper of such goods shall be liable for all damages and expenses directly or indirectly arising out of or resulting from such shipment... Does the expression directly or indirectly subject to the shipper to a risk more than that which would apply on account of a common case for harms for breach of agreement or for a legally binding indemnity? It is battled that the words did not influence the operation of the customary standard that, without a reasonable procurement in actuality, a man cannot uphold an indemnity where one of the viable purposes of his misfortune is his own wrongful demonstration. The law has built up various principles with the end goal of constraining harms for breach of agreement. • 8. Sydney Carton Suffering It is impossible to have a world without suffering; however, it s also impossible to have a world without joy. There has to be a balance of both good and bad in our world even if we hope life will be joyful all the time. To have joy, there must be pain in the world as well. It can sometimes be a hard idea to accept, especially when we re dealing with sufferingfirsthand, but it s just a part of life. In many cases, progress comes after suffering in some way. Suffering is hard but it s beneficial so that we can find joy and make change because of it and make progress. Getting out of a bad place to find peace or happiness happens many times. Suffering serves as motivation for both individuals and groups of people to get to a happier place in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Suffering may even happen on its own to make progress. People like Sydney Carton from the book A Tale of Two Cities realize that unless he gives everything, the promise of a new peaceful future will remain unfulfilled. Paralleling Dickens novel, Karl Marx believed that knowing and having suffering will bring a synthesis of some sort (Stearns, Burns 6). Sometimes we forget that suffering can be self inflicted as well as out of our control. Here the fictional character Sydney Carton takes someone s place to die to save someone he loves. He didn t want to do this, but in order to make progress in the world he felt it was necessary. Along with an individual causing suffering to produce, similarly the larger universe can have suffering to cause change. To explain why suffering happens, Tom Honey in a TED talk said Perhaps there is a great, cosmic plans that allows for horrible suffering so that everything will work out okay in the end (3). Even though Honey is a Christian and not everyone believes in what he does, everyone can think about the possibility of something big causing all suffering. The idea of a greater plan in the universe causing suffering to cause progress is just another way to think about the role of suffering. In both cases progress can be seen after suffering. People tend to think about when it s been caused by outside forces. There can be times when someone has sacrificed purposely to help progress. Sydney Carton made the hard but necessary decision to him to die to save Lucie. The sacrifice allowed Lucie and her family to stay together. This was possible because Sydney gave his life. Suffering brings about change that couldn t have come without it. When a tsunami struck and caused devastating losses, Honey came up with new ways of thinking about God. He s making progress in his faith which was caused from the suffering. Times of suffering are never good for anyone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this lab, I was able to successfully use spectrophotometry to calculate the average concentration of iron in an unknown solution. Methods: In order to calculate the concentration of iron in an unknown substance, many steps had to be taken. First, a stock iron solution was prepared by measuring exactly 0.0135g of ferrous ammonium sulfate [Fe(NH4)2(SO4)2В·6H2O], mixing it with approximately 5.2mL of 2.0 M H2SO4, and diluting the solution to 200mL. Following this, a diluted 1,10 phenanthroline solution was prepared by obtaining approximately 50.0mL of 1,10 phenanthroline monohydrate in ethanol solution and diluting it to 200mL with deionized (DI) water. Then 9 200 mL volumetric flasks were cleaned and labeled A I. Flasks B F were filled with exactly 2.00, 5.00, 10.00, 25.00, and 50.00 mL of the stock iron solution respectively. Flask A was used as a control and was instead filled with 100mL of DI water. Flasks G,H, and I were filled with exactly 25.00mL of Unknown Iron Solution E0717. • 12. Sacred Space Research Paper What is sacred space? Upon hearing the words sacred and space together, you may be inclined to think of a place of sanctity; spiritual spaces that invite prayer, worshipping of the divinities or a place built for peace and harmonious gatherings. Why were these spaces created? In the past, human beings believed that sacred spaces were an imperative method to reaching out to their divine gods and religions, as a link between mortal and god. These spaces have some relation Heidegger s concept of the four fold: the idea of creating and implementing spaces that link to the earth, sky, mortals and divinities. Of course, with different cultures and religions in different countries, many sacred spaces have varying visual forms and purposes; a circle of freestanding stones may not look similar to the Lotus Temple in India, but they may share some form of spiritual tranquility. The Pantheon, however, is a building that has no clear purpose as a sacred space, although it is rumored to have been a temple due to the style of the decorations. One thing for certain was the fact that it had been built in order to have some link to the divinities and the sky, hence Pantheon meaning honor all gods in Greek. The dome of the Pantheon had been built with near perfect hemispherical geometry, something that human beings consider divine tier and something that they strive for when creating sacred space: the perfect geometry. Rudolf Wittkower argues that natural creations, such as the proportions and symmetry of the human frame, the relationships between planets or the intervals of musical harmony, seemed to follow geometric ratios, and that if the products of architecture were to possess the same conceptual integrity they too should be designed using perfect figures, symmetry and harmonic mathematical proportions (2009, ... PROS VIEW Opponents of outsourcing are talking about the fact that American workers are losing their jobs cause of the labor movements. This is off course a fact, but what are the actual numbers ? The Mckinsey Global institute (2003) notes that in the upcoming 5 years , the growth was going to be around 30 40%. Forrester Research predicts that the total outsourced jobs will be around 3,3 million in 2015. People with self confidence make friends easier, accomplish more, and are less likely to be plagued with sleep disorders, social disorders, depression, and anxiety. Obviously teaching your kids to be self confident is an important parental responsibility. Five of the best ways to do this is to let your children known its okay to make mistakes, to expose them to new activities, places and people every day, to show unconditional love, avoid comparisons to others and encourage rather than praise. Mistakes Are Okay The fastest way to decrease a child s self confidence is to make them afraid of making a mistake. You may think only a really mean parent would make their child feel bad about themselves just for making a mistake, but it isn t as easy as that. Kids are very good at picking up feelings of disappointment, disapproval, and shame. They are also very good at blaming themselves for everything that goes wrong. Broken Spears Bernal Diaz Two Accounts: Broken Spears and Bernal Diaz In every historical event there tends to be conflicting sides, each member has their own point of view based on a plethora of statistics. These statistics include but are not limited to, socio economic classes, race, geographical boundaries, gender, etc. When two cultures interact for the first time there is bound to be some discrepancies over what truly occurred. These discrepancies are portrayed quite well through Bernal Diaz s The Conquest of New Spain and The Broken Spears: The Aztec Account of the Conquest of Mexico, either side showed similarities, but at the same time they showed even more metamorphoses, making it nearly impossible to say either account holds more water than the other.... However, in the account told by the Aztec s, [The Spaniards] ran everywhere; they invaded every room, hunting and killing (Broken Spears 614). It is apparent here that the interpretations do not match up in these two selections. This makes it hard to believe either since the two have such immense renditions of the true intention of the Spaniards. Yet another significant difference is the intention of the Spaniards. In Diaz s story he claimed, ...that in coming to see and speak with such a great prince we had fulfilled the purpose of our voyage and the orders of our lord the king (Diaz 601). • 29. Meno Vs Socrates In Plato s Meno, there are many arguments Socrates and Meno encounter. They never seem to find a common ground and that leads to disagreements. The disagreements seem to never become an agreement because not only does Socrates makes it so difficult to give a definition of a word that he thinks is suitable but Meno is just letting him change his mind about his definition. The argument does not just consist on if knowledgean opinion can be taught, they argue that knowledge can be the only way to find correct actions, but opinion can also mean the same. Meno brings up a question, What makes Knowledge so prized than correct opinion. Socratesanswers with an example of Daedalus and when he uses a slave for example. That a slave will still... I belief that saying that a person can be taught to have knowledge is the same as saying a person who already beliefs in a topic or subject has a opinion. Which we know that opinion can be taught, but so can knowledge because you are teaching an opinion that soon will become a piece of information in a person s mind and that is what the definition is for knowledge. In other words, by learning an Opinion then they also will be receiving knowledge. Again like Socrates explains what Daedalus had told him about how we all will always have knowledge but our true opinion can be lost and maybe never be thought again. For a true opinion to stay in our minds we need to practice and think about the idea or a fact and turn it into an argument. In conclusion, a man or woman who has both knowledge and True Opinions one will only be stored in the long term part of your brain and the other will only be stored in the short term part of the brain. His and her knowledge with be stored in the long term memory because they both will need that for a longer period of their life and their true opinions only are important in the short run of your life. • 30. The Unconverted Self By Jonathan Boyarin Essay In The Unconverted Self, author Jonathan Boyarin reexamines the relationship between Christian Europe and the world around it, especially in the context of interreligious dialogue as a means of defining Christian identity. The common school of thought, as presented in this book, is that European identity reaches modernity after 1492 with the discovery of the radically different culture of Indigenous Americans (p. 9). Boyarin argues that this is untrue, as this belief operates under the incorrect assumption that the European people were a homogenous population (p.9). Instead, Boyarin seeks to move beyond the concept of two separate Europes, and proposes instead that this othering that was so critical to define Christian identity was already occurring in pre contact Europe (p. 1). For this, Boyarin looks to the Jewish and Muslim populations of Europe as a replacement for the Indigenous American peoples. He asserts that this sense of the other threatening Christendom existed far before 1492, and outlines the ways in which this conflict in religious dimensionality was vital to the formation of Christian identity. Boyarin s volume presents a concise read that reexamines existing scholarship and recontextualizes historical events to create a convincing argument, as well as provide questions for future scholarship to build upon. However, there were aspects in this book that were lacking, causing it to be an almost tedious read at parts. The Unconverted Self uses the history ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oxford dictionary defines responsibility as the state of fact of having a duty to deal with something or having control over someone. This definition is exactly what I am trying to portray when explaining my responsibility to America. Our educators, soldiers, politicians, innovators, farmers, and businessmen have all had a dutysince the birth of this nation. Second, what does America mean to me? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We all have basic responsibilities, like obtaining a high school diploma, voting, serving on a jury, and paying taxes. While these are important this topic is so much more than that. We, as the younger generation, have responsibilities to America that are not only important, but are crucial to the future of our nation. The rights we hold are not given without obligations. Rights go hand in hand with responsibilities; if rights are abused they are taken away or cease to exist all together. Think about a basic right; freedom of speech for example. If we were to never exercise this right, never spoke out when something needed to be said, the right would easily be taken away. This is just one of the many examples. The only way to preserve a right is to use it, and use it well. It is our responsibility to exercise our rights. This responsibility brings the obligation to not harm anyone in my progress to pursue these rights. I believe it is my responsibility to contribute and be an active member in today s society by taking the opportunities I am presented, and making new opportunities for future generations. It can be seen as a play that is ambiguous; a play that exposes the playwright s own indecision; a play that aggressively takes sides in favour of nationalistic fervour which Shakespeare himself didn t believe in (35). All of these views, writes Rabkin, are wrong since according to him the play s ultimate power lies in its ability to point in two opposite directions, virtually daring us to choose one of the two opposed interpretations (36). In fact, it is Rabkin that is wrong: not in his supposition that the play dares the audience to choose, but rather, that a reading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike his predecessors, this is a king who can recognize that he is in fact a role more than he is a man, and that ceremony consists only in what is conferred by others. (Rabkin 46). He is so dangerously pragmatic because he is far less detectable and unsettling because he has none of Richard III s vice like propensity, and we are liable to find his image building similar to modern politicians (Brennan 24). This is precisely the kind of brutal clarity that helps in his construction and use of the U.K. s burgeoning state hood as we know it in the modern sense: the modern world in which every action of a leader is shaped for public consumption (Brennan 32). The nation is but a mass of potential chaos, a multiplicity which only reaches its potential as a political, unitary force when it is summoned for battle. A project manager must observe and examine how the work is progressing, the costs, application of the resources required, and if the schedule is being sustained with the overall project plan. This is especially important when a project manageruses the earned value management (EVM) system to track and monitor an undertaking. EVM and variance management must have accurate material and labor costs accounted in order to be an effective tool. Labor and Material Costs Resources are essential for completion for any project, but must be managed differently because of the constraints and accounting each specifically demands. Labor, materials, and equipment fall under the definition of resources and how they are managed within a project will greatly impact the endeavor (Larson Gray, 2014). An important resource for a project is the human resource or labor and the skills that each individual brings to the project team. Ordinarily, direct labor is classified by skills and the costs related to provide those skills to complete the work. Direct labor costs are normally calculated by multiplying the hours required to complete the task by the salary scale designated for the task. Indirect labor costs encompass any support staff that is not directly involved within the project, like human resource, administrative, and other ancillary staff (Webb, 2016). Even though these ... Many of the social networking sites allow people to communicate what s going on in their life through pictures and from there other people can comment on the post. In today s world someone can be connected with the touch of a button. While social networking has affected and strained some relationships it has also had a positive impact on many other relationships. Expanding one s dating pool and meeting other people outside their community is one benefit social networking has to offer its users. Before social networking sites came along millions of adults in the united states were single, of theses adults they were limited to the amount of possible partners they could interact with due to location (Thomas and Rosenfeld 523). Since the introduction of social networking sites many relationships have flourished because people are no longer limited to who they can meet. Now that the dating pool has expanded when couples meet on opposite sides of the world they are still able to interact with one another through social networking sites. They are able ... Thus, the film must take into account different political views and ideologies, while encompassing an appropriate theme that is suitable for people of all ages. A lot must be considered before creating a storyline that can affect the minds of children of such young ages because providing a false narrative or a one sided view may upset particular audiences. The way in which Disney s studios portrays the characters is how the audience will understand the story of Pocahontasand John Smith. Yet the Disney film contains an abundance of factual errors that can distort the viewer s ideas. The specific narrative Disney studios choses portray will be the one that will resonate in the minds of the audiences. The piece The Indians New World: The Catawba Experience Author by James Merrell and The Labor Problem at Jamestown by Edmund Morgan both contrast the stark differences between the Disney movie and the harsh historical reality. However, the film is important in that it brings attention to the racial injustices between Native Americans and the discriminatory white settlers. First, the Disney movie was ineffective in providing the audience a balanced representation of the history. The obvious differences were the downplay of the tensions between the Powhatans and English Settlers, and the absence of the gory deaths of innocent people from both sides. This was obviously left out in order to keep the movie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. The Norfolk Four-Course System Analysis Recently, there has been a shift of the land: new crops and new owner. As for crops, the Norfolk four course system has come into popularity; the system is characterized by 4 stages, wheat, then turnips, next clover and ryegrass which is then left for grazing or fodder. Being able to leave non producing land for 2 years maybe be a contributor to the new owners. Large farms owned by the upper class have become more and more dominant over the years. • 53. The Current Behavioral Organization Model As A... GM is described as an organization with a dysfunctional company culture that somehow still manages to have amazing results in its work, on a global scale. The key attributes of GM, were primarily in the changes initiated by Mary Barra after the GM ignition switch recall crisis. Some of those attributes include her willingness to openly acknowledge the undesirable aspects of the GM cultureand her efforts to take action towards a resolution. There are also several noticeable strengths and weaknesses within the organization. One of the biggest weaknesses is the company s repeated inability to acknowledge that, lack of functional culture and leadership are truly the root cause of the company s issues. Based on my reading I would describe the current behavioral organizational modelas a Custodial Model. I chose this model because the managerial orientation is money, employee orientation is security and benefits and performance results are passive cooperation. All of these attributes were described in the reading. Below are the four models that compare the current behavioral organizational model used above to other models. I. Autocratic Model 1. Depends on power. 2. Managerial orientation is authority. 3. Employee orientation is obedience. 4. Employee psychological result depends on the boss. 5. Employee needs met is subsistence. 6. Performance result is minimal. Example: Military/ Soldiers. II. Supportive Model 1. Depends on leadership. 2. Managerial orientation is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
