Difference Between Homeland Security And Homeland Security
Homeland Security and Homeland Defense are two concepts that will have intersecting missions
combined with parallel directives and even sometimes competing objectives. While the concept of
Homeland Security and Homeland Security will be explored with greater depth later, the question
is how does Homeland Security and Homeland Defense both protect critical national infrastructure.
How do these two different missions both compete and complement one another in their efforts to
protect those vulnerable infrastructure elements to ensure they remain safe and away from those
who would want to do harm in an effort to create widespread terror and even disable or disorient
our national defense.
Homeland Defense refers to the guarding of national sovereignty, of protecting actual territory and
the population contained within against external threats. The mission of this defense has been
traditionally been charged to groups like the National Guard with what is referred to as Title 32
duty from the state National Guard troops. This allows personnel with traditional military training
to perform many necessary duties to the homeland defense mission without ever running afoul of
the Posse Comitatus Act. Posse Comitatus basically restricts the military from performing and

Of Mice and Men Essay by Elisabeth Laria The novel Of Mice and Men uses foreshadowing
successfully to build tension towards the final tragedy. Foreshadowing is shown consistently
throughout the novel in various ways including; the introduction of Curley s wife, Lennie s
constant unawareness of his own strength, and Candy s dog being killed. These situations and
scenes build towards the final tragedy of the novel effectively. Throughout the novel, Lennie is

Social class is defined as a system of stratification based on access to such resources as wealth,
property, power and prestige (186). The social class system is typically passed down from the
parent to the child. Our textbook quotes, Although children tend to inherit the social class of their
parents, during the course of a lifetime they can move up or down levels in the strata (186).
Therefore, this system is not affected by race, ethnicity, gender or age. However, social classmay
overlap depending on specific variables. Personally, my family s social class status would be
classified as the middle class. The middle class is composed of primarily white collar workers
with a broad range of education and income; and make up about 30 percent of the U.S.

Act was created with the intent to boost the United States Economy by allowing a corporation with
profits overseas one year to repatriate at a noticeably low tax rate. While the corporations did
repatriate a sizeable amount of money back into the United States, they used the low tax rate to

repatriated into the United States. This one time decrease lowered the maximum tax rate for
overseas profit from 35 percent to 5.25 percent. However, due to foreign tax credits, the average
tax rate corporations actually paid was 3.7 percent. The largest two types of corporations to
repatriate their foreign earnings were the pharmaceutical and technology sectors. According to a

Although I was looking for scenes that I could use in this notebook, I managed to touch on possible
themes that I thought showed up throughout the play. I also noted not just the characteristics of

Through the study of film, one can see the many ways that Hollywood works to not only echo
