The Most Important Philosophers In The Age Of Enlightenment
The Age of Enlightenment started in 1550 and ended in the 1800s. It contained a lot of important
events and people. It had the Scientific Revolution, American Revolution, and French Revolution. It
also had five important philosophers like Rousseau, Montesquieu, Diderot, Wollstonecraft, and
Voltaire. My thesis is what philosophers played a part in The American Revolution and French
Revolution and how. The first philosophy I want to discuss is Montesquieu s Separation of Powers.
Montesquieu separated the powers into the Executive Branch, Judicial Branch, and Legislative
Branch. These three branches play a part in each others decisions and powers that choose and
make. If the Separation of Powers never happened then I think that we would have

Venus Of Willendorf Statue Analysis
Since ancient times, statuary has taken on a special role within the culture that creates it. Statues
have often been considered an important medium to represent the goals of patrons. For example,
when survival of the species was the greatest challenge facing civilization, the Venus of Willendorf
came into being. Its exaggerated bodily features represent the yearning for fecundity. As art and
sculpturehave developed, the reflection of society s values in sculpture has remained. In this paper,
I will address two statues from the ancient era; the statueof Gudea created in the neo Sumerian
period and the ancient Greek statue of the Kouros made in the archaic period. These two works
are separated by nearly fifteen centuries, and naturally the contrast of these sculptures reveals
how people s lives and artistic goals have changed over this span of years. Over the course of this
paper, I am going to address what each work represents in its respective society and the difference
in artistic style between the two civilizations.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an attempt to entrench alien presence, Gudea commissioned countless statues and installed his
statues within every temple in the region. Presumably he used these statues as political means to
bring stability to the region.[1] The replicas of this statue were viewed as intermediaries between
the local deities and the rulers. This statue held an important position in Neo Sumerian society
because the populace attributed the prosperity of the nation to the benevolence of the local deities.
This particular belief also allowed local rulers to establish the regal presence in every temple. The
omnipresent image of ruler facilitated the settlement of the migratory

Short And Lifetime Goals
Short and Lifetime Goals In my near future, I am leaning towards attending the University of
Indianapolis mainly because of the strong DPT program they offer to their students. I have been
accepted and have had the honor of being a direct admission into the DPT program offered at the
University of Indianapolis. I found my career choice with my mixture of strong academic and
athletic performances. I have plenty of first person accounts of rehabilitation to muscles and bones
from sports injuries, and I have become curious about other types of injuries that a physical
therapist would encounter outside of sports injuries. At the University of Indianapolis, I plan on
majoring in Biology and excelling in all my courses, especially my prerequisites.

1.Definition:
Landslide is the general term used to describe the down slope movement of soil, rock, and other
earth materials under the effects of gravity and also the landform that results from such movement.
2.Occurrence of Landslides. Landslides can occur virtually anywhere in the world, where
climate, precipitation, bedrock and soil conditions and slopes are susceptible to failure.
Landslides can occur under water too, along continental slopes and deep sea fans. Landslide can
occur in bedrock or on soils; agricultural lands, barren slopes and forests. Both extremely dry areas
and very humid areas can be affected by slope failures. Thus, steep slopes are not a necessary
prerequisite for landslides to occur. In some cases, gentle slopes as shallow as 1 2 degrees have
been observed to fail. However steep slopes are more prone to landslides. So, majority of land
slides are associated with hilly and mountainous areas. They also commonly occur along steeply
sloping coastlines and river valleys.
3.Causes of Landslides: Often more than one factor contributes to landslides that include geology

Summary Of Sheriff Bud Wendell Drove Patiently Down...
Sheriff Bud Wendell drove patiently down route 41. He wasn t necessarily needed anywhere and
this was perhaps the first moment he could relax after a rather contentious campaign battle against
his challenger and former undersheriff, Carl Stringham. Politics in the South could get down right
nasty at times, but SheriffWendell took small solace in the fact that it wasn t he who spread the
rumors of Stringham s clandestine romances with men from a neighboring town.
Sure, Sheriff Wendell knew that Stringham was a homosexual. Stringham had worked as his
deputy for twelve years and what man wouldn t be aware of such preferences after being in the
company of another antithetically oriented man for so long. It never made a difference to him,
though. Bud knew Carl was a strong man and would have made an honest sheriff, but politics in
the south was never about a man s merits or soul. More often than not, a lever was cast for the
man who reminded people of themselves, at least their public selves. All it took in this case was
one whisper from Julie Hollis to Deanne White at the beauty salon back in October and the race for
county sheriff was over. Surely, her husband, Deputy John Hollis had nothing to do with it.
While he found Stringham s gossip piece to be an unfortunate setback in the merits of the sheriff s
race, Bud Wendell knew Carl was a good man but knew himself to be the better man. If you asked
them in private, most of the county would probably agree. With his

Analysis Of Goodfellas
Sound and music have long since been staples of the gangster genre, used both to add more
tension in suspenseful scenes, or to immerse an audience in the time period of the film. These
examples and many like it are most notably used in the 1990 Gangster film Goodfellas by Martin
Scorsese, who uses these to set the atmosphere of each scene, and reinforce the running narrative of
the film. Goodfellas retells the story of American born gangster Henry Hill, and the rise and fall
of him and his way of life from the 50 s through the 80 s. I picked Goodfellas as the focal point of
this essay because of it s use of music and sound to set it s story s atmosphere both visually, and
through auditory means. Firstly, Goodfellas starts with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These types of musical choices are plentiful in the first half of the movie, until being abruptly
shattered by the introduction of William Billy Batts Bentvena. Billy Batts is a made member of the
Luchese crime family, first introduced in The Suite Lounge, where he mocks Tommy DeVito
(Joe Pesci) about him once being a shoe shiner. Eventually, Tommy and his associates beat Billy
Batts within an inch of his life while the song Atlantis by Donovan starts to play. Atlantis breaks
the repetition of love songs that had preceded it, instead replacing it with a fantasy song. While
in no way a sad song, Atlantis shows Henry s rising uncertainties with his romanticized lifestyle,
showing that he still loves the fantasy of it, but isn t in love with all aspects of it. Additionally,
Atlantis s lyrics, which do appear to have romantic backing, also contain more morose lyrics like
gotta tell me where she gone and Way down below the ocean where I want to be. These wistful
lines parallel Henry s inner monologue in this scene, showing his clear want to return to the
romanticized, clean cut world that he had known just previous to this scene. This subtle narrative
change in direction isn t confined to Goodfellas either, appearing in Arthur Penn s Bonnie and
Clyde.
With Bonnie and Clyde, shortly after Buck Barrow s death and after Bonnie is shot, Clyde has her
and C.W. hide in a field whilst he goes to commandeer a car close by. As

Causes And Effects Of The Opiate Epidemic In Dreamland By...
Causes and Effects of the Opiate Epidemic The novel, Dreamland by Sam Quinones, goes into
depth about the Opiate Epidemic in America. Quinones really focuses on a town called Portsmouth
located near the Ohio River. This is a town that at one point in time was booming, until the
epidemic reached Portsmouth and took over the town and surrounding areas. The epidemic is not
only in Portsmouth, but around the world. The problems have impacted the care of patients when
dealing with pain medication and if the patient really needs it. There are some key things that
Quinones keys in on like the difference between the Xalisco Boys and the Drug Cartel , what the

This story is the one that is about the man who had fallen off a ladder while at work and hurt his
back. If Dr. Procter had the appropriate amount of time to spend with his patient and not tried to
make the appointment fast, the guy probably would have not ended up addicted to painkillers.
There is one group that Quinones focuses on in the novel which are the Xalisco Boys . The
Xalisco Boys way of drug dealing was very different for that of the Drug Cartel in various ways.
The Xalisco Boys are usually illegal immigrants from Xalisco, Nayarit. The Drug Cartel is any
organization or group of people who are involved in the drug deals. The best way to describe the
way the Xalisco Boys do drug deals is very similar to someone delivering something to your
house like a pizza delivery. This is very different from the traditional Drug Cartel because they
usually meet up somewhere and not deliver it to that person s house. The way of the Xalisco
Boys was successful because it was not a suspicious because it they made it look like a delivery.

Science in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Rappaccini s Daughter
The short story Rappaccini s Daughter can be seen as a love story about young man determined to
be with his beloved, despite the fact that she is poisonous. However, when examining the text,
underlying theme about science arise. During the time in which this piece was written, science
was rapidly evolving. All biological sciences must first go through a taxonomic stage since their
data must be put in order before they can be employed in research on an analytical level (Shryock

These discoveries helped shape the views of 18th century American society. Parallels about
religion can also be made by comparing Rappaccini s poisonous garden and the Garden of Eden.
The story contains many biblical allegories which hinted to the viewpoint of that time. The most
significant Parallel that can be made between the story and 18th century American Society is the
use of science to explain the rank of creatures in nature. The Mismeasure of Man by Stephen Jay
Gould is an important tool in critiquing the misuse of science to justify social inequalities such
as racism and sexism. In assessing the impact of science upon the 18th century views of race we
must first recognize the cultural milieu of a society whose leaders and intellectuals did not
doubt the propriety of racial ranking with Indians below Whites and Blacks below every one
(Gould 63) Rappaccini uses the excuse that the world is dangerous to justify why her made his
daughter poisonous. He fails to realize that he is actually hurting his daughter Beatrice.
Rappaccini myopically ignores the needs of others, imposing his sense of things on the people
who fall under his control.(Wachtel) His selfish actions shows that he has a lack of morals. A
second parallel that can be made is Rappaccini s desire to have dominion over nature Dr.
Rappaccini is extremely talented botanist; he has

/Demand Diagram for Changes in Market for Live Rock Concerts (1998 2008):
5B. Economists use cross elasticity of demand to determine whether two products are substitutes
or complements. The cross elasticity of demand measures how quantity demanded of one good
(albums) responds to a change in the price for another good (live concert tickets). For example,
between 1998 and 2008, sales of albums were down 45%, but over the same period, concert ticket
sales revenues more than doubled to $4.2 billion, despite rising rises. During this same time period,

Free albums also encourage consumers to sample an artist s music. In contrast, there are few, if
any, alternatives to a live performance listening to an album is not considered a substitute for a live
concert. Additionally, most artists are unique and cannot be easily substituted by a different artist.
Another factor to consider is resources (cash) people who buy less albums have more cash to
purchase a contract ticket.
6A. Economic profit equals net earnings, in the accountant s sense, minus the opportunity costs of
capital and any other inputs supplied by the firm s owners. Bob and Jane s economic profit is
different from their accounting profit. Accounting Profit = Total Revenues Total Costs = $8.0 mil
$7.4 mil = $.6 mil ($600,000). However, Economic profit = Accounting Profit ($600,000)
Opportunity Costs ($360,000) = $240,000. As also discussed in 6B, opportunity costs here include
the wages they forfeit to run this business ($300,000),
PLUS a normal rate of return on the $600,000 paid up front for advertising (600,000*(.10)) or
$60,000.
6B. A fixed cost is the cost of an input whose quantity does not rise when output goes up, one that
the firm requires to produce any output at all. The total cost of such indivisible inputs does not
change when the output changes. Any other cost of the firm s operation is called a variable cost.

My Experience In A Restaurant
Looking back, I can still recall the countless days that I spent in my family s restaurant. For
twelve hours every single day of the week, I spent the majority of my time alone at a corner
table. My mom was always occupied with leading the stream of faces, pouring through the doors,
to their tables and attending to their needs. On the other hand, my dad would be busy operating
the large woks, rounded cooking pans, over scorching red flames in order to keep the food trays
in front of the kitchen doors filled. Even though my parents were always around me, I had to spend
most of my timeby myself. I would spend the dull lengthy periods I had doodling on menus,
building with Legos and crafting action figures out of eating utensils and rubber bands. Although
I came up with many activities to shorten the long days, my constantly changing thirst for
entertainment could not be quenched. I remembered one day; I ran into the back of the
restaurant to complain to my dad. I told him that the parents of other kids have jobs as well, yet
they still spend time with their kids. and, it was not fair for me to have my parents to say that
they were too busy to see my drawings and praise my creations. Fatigued and sweaty, my dad
briefly stepped back from the heat of the woks and said, make use of the opportunities that you
have now so that you won t regret it in the future. Not surprisingly, I was a dumb little kid and I
stormed out of the kitchen with clenched fists, teary eyes, red face

Tom Scott and Tom First founded Nantucket Nectars in 1990 as a small side business on

After only six years, the two entrepreneurs built a business that was generating $29,493,000 per

Many entrepreneurs enjoy the early start up phases of the business cycle.
Of course, selling a business has its drawbacks, as well. First, the buyer often requires that the
management team from the acquisition target stay on board for a specific period of time and
achieve certain key performance indicators before receiving the entire payout. Often, there is a
lump sum delivered up front, and then incremental payouts upon achieving KPI s. This could be
frustrating to Tom and Tom, as they would relinquish all of their independent decision making
powers and have to take the back seat as employees. Typically, this is not a comfortable position
for entrepreneurs to take. Also, Tom and Tom built up a loyal and talented staff of employees at
Nantucket Nectar. Acquisitions are typically driven by synergies and, as a result, certain employees
could be terminated in pursuit of cost savings. Finally, Tom and Tom would have to deal with the
fact that their company culture would be at risk. Often, the buyers culture engulfs that of the
company being acquired. The third option available to Tom and Tom is taking the company public,
or an IPO (Initial Public Offering). The most obvious advantage of going public is that Nantucket
Nectar would have an immediate influx of capital available due to the sale of its stock. With excess
capital available, they could purchase assets for distribution and manufacturing, invest in

Essay on Making a Biogas Digestor for Ugandan Farmers
Introduction
For this project I am doing biogas, most farmers in Uganda don t make use of the animal waste to
generate energy for their household use. Having a biogas digester would give farmers power
which they can use for lighting and cooking. The digester produces bio slurry which serves as
organic manure for their crops. Therefore biogas would be the most efficient and accessible form of
energy in the rural areas which constitute 80% of the population of Uganda since the animal waste
is available to them at no financial cost.
Defining the Problem
The population of Uganda is 35,918,915, eighty percent of Ugandans are farmers (CIA World Fact
book).Only 25 percent of Ugandans have access to the power grid, the remaining 75 percent have to

Having electricity in rural areas can also bring business opportunities to rural areas. Education and
health in the rural areas will be improved. This will result in economic development and income
generation for women. Rural electrification also improves the technological view of the people
because they will be able to learn new techniques on computers which will improve their
intelligence.
Solution
An ambitious target is needed by the government of Uganda to provide accessible, cheap and
clean energy to the 75% of the population. The government of Uganda through the Ministry of
Energy should subsidize the cost of the bio digester unit. From records, the GDP per capita for
Uganda is 1,500 Dollars therefore it is one of the poorest countries in the world (CIA World Fact
book). It is therefore very difficult if not impossible for a household to be able to afford a bio
digester because a unit cost between 700 and 1000 United States Dollars (Kafayat Adeyemi).
There should be programmes on the importance of bio digester to the farmers (savings, clean
cooking, health benefits, green or sustainable environment etc.). This will give the farmers a sense
of responsibility and involvement in the whole process. Donor funding should also be pursued.
The farmers in rural areas should invest in biogas digesters, a biogas digester would be useful
because it needs raw materials which are available to the farmers at any time.

Interestingly, The Women In Black is now the second longest running play in the West End. It has
been running at The Fortune Theatre since February 1989 one can effortlessly notify that the
production is exceedingly popular and innovative due to these given statuses. It is indisputably one
of the most bloodcurdling ghost stories relentlessly told on stage.
The Woman In Black was played by an uncredited actress, thus instigating that the play is performed
by only two actors: Arthur Kipps and The Actor who retells Kipps story. Furthermore, The Woman
may have not been listed in the programme because of the extra effect that she will enhance when
she appears on the stage to frighten the audience.
Before I saw the play, I was very sceptical about the drama as I had expected it to be predictably
monotonous as I could not interpret how the production could make a live performance to be
perceived as an alluring thriller. I had not assumed that

Bullies Vs Dictators
Your typical school bully and a country s dictator, what s the difference? When asked this
question many said, One rules the school, while the other one rules a country. . The truth is,
there are many differences between the two, but with differences comes similarities. What are
some differences between these two tyrannical figures? First, we need to know what a dictator
and a school bully is. A dictator is a ruler with total power over a country. One of the most well
known dictators is Adolf Hitler. Adolf was a dictator who was considered the most terrifying man
of his time . A school bully is a person who uses strength or power to harm or intimidate those who
are weaker. Now that you know the definitions of each, we can go on into the differences between
the two. The most important difference between the two is why they treat people inadequately.
School bullies overpower people because they feel insecure about themselves. Dictators, on the
other hand, treat people atrociously because they strive for power. The next difference is that a...

The initial similarity is their personalities. School bullies and dictators have a conceited, haughty
personalities. Nevertheless, this makes them think they are superior. Secondly, a school bully and
a dictator abuse, control, intimidate, and force others. A school bully forces people to abide by
their rules, even if they are against the law. A dictator also forces people to act in accordance with
their laws. If they contravene, they will have to face the consequences. Ultimately, a school bully
and a dictator are both excellent speakers. Both figures can get themselves out of a sticky situation.
When a bully gets questioned by an administrator, they speak smoothly and often avoid getting
punished. Likewise, a dictator is very keen, therefore he has the ability to trick an entire population

Jane Smiley s Growing Up At Home
I.Thesis Statement: Parents have to become more aware of the affect they are having on their
children when they do no implement chores into a child s day to day activities. Chores help
establish good work ethics in which children will need as they grow into adult life. Proverbs 22:6

There is also the possibility that UAVs that carry chemical sniffers could be totally unencumbered

including e.g. civilian UAVs (CUAVs) requiring different technological solutions such as optimized
platforms, different endurance requirements, dedicated payloads and different ground control
systems. An additional important problem to be solved is the integration of UAVs in the civilian
airspace, which will require the adoption of civilian airworthiness standards and proven safety
features. Last but not least trust has to be created, both at the public sectors and the commercial

My Philosophy Of Small Groups Essay
Introduction Over the years, many models have been developed and implemented to endeavor to
make disciples. Some of the models have been effective and others have not. Among some of the
most biblical and efficient models are the ones that involve small groups. Within the small groups
models, they can be broken down into further detail, such as pastoral involvement, the church s
goal, missions mindedness, etc. In this paper, I will explain my philosophy of small groups in a
church and the importance of the relational group in authentic disciple making. I will also explain
how missional groups can help the body of Christ move out into the community. Finally, I will
summarize my status in regards to living in community with other believers and being missional
with that community. My Philosophy of Small Groups My personal philosophy of small groups is
scriptural based. Acts 2:46 says, And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and
breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart. As the
original church began, it is obvious from Acts chapter two and particularly from verse 46 that the
church met in unity in large groups. They actually used a two fold approach of meeting in large
group meetings and then in the homes for more intimate small group gatherings. Acts 2:46 clearly
shows the church gathering in homes, eating together, and continuing the work of the ministry.
Effective ministry is connecting with both God

Code Talkers Summary
Remember back in elementary school when friends of yours would create a language or signs to
have a conversation without anyone knowing what you are talking about? Well, Code Talkers is
very similar to creating a code in school, but more intense and heightened. William R. Wilson, a
writer and photographer goes in debt to explain how the Navajo languagewas brought to serve as a
new code in the U.S. Military in World War II. He also writes about who the military has to use to
interpret and send out messages for militia combat plans. The author does an exceptional job at
being very clear and informative in this article.
The article first starts to discuss how the beginning of World War II was declining fast for the
United States after being hit at Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. U.S. Armed Force Officials realized
the communications between branches of military and allies were being intercepted by Japanese
cryptologers. Phillip Johnston, a civil engineer soon came to the conclusion of using Navajo Indians

The Conflict Between Israel And Palestinian Refugees
Going after their independence, Israel was looking for the support of big and powerful countries,
and the cooperation of the surrounding states. Unfortunately, the Israeli independence movement
did not turn out to be so easy. As the surrounding Arab nations began to get angry with the
preferential treatment of the British, tensions rose between Israeland the Palestinians. Consequently,
because of the superior army and the support behind Israel, the wars resulted in an abundance of
Palestinian refugees that still struggle to establish their own state today. Through many efforts and
support systems, international aid has been offered to the Palestinian refugees, but as proven by the
millions of refugees that still live in the UNRWA camps today, none of these tactics have worked.
Although international organizations were ineffective in solving the conflict between Israel and
the Palestinian refugees, the establishment of an Arab state early on would have prevented a future
humanitarian crisis; demonstrating the preferential treatment within foreign intervention.
Leading up to the wars between Israel and the Arabs, Israel was getting favorable treatment from
the British, as Palestinians were left to fight against the odds. If this one sided contract and way of
thinking had not existed, both the Arabs and the Jews would have been satisfied. In the late 19th
century, there was a rise of Zionism among the Jewish people, in effort to return the Jews to their
homeland and resume

Agricultural production entails investment of resources and farmers will have no incentive for
making investments in areas where there is little opportunity for marketing their products or if the
returns accruing from the sales of agricultural products do not reflect the opportunity cost of
investment. As a result, most farmers in areas with few marketing opportunities are engaged
primarily in subsistence agriculture, which has constrained improvement in their quality of life [3].
The problem of market access is linked to the inability of farmers to meet market standards, low
volumes of produce, wide dispersion of producers, presence of middlemen and perceived low prices
in the formal market [1 7]. Therefore, development policies in Ghana have focused on the
modernization and commercialization of the agricultural sector in addressing the major agricultural
production and marketing challenges.
[8,9]. The development policy of the Food and Agricultural Sectors II (FASDEP II) is notably
among these policies. It seeks to increase both the competitiveness and integration of farmers in
domestic and international markets by producing the required volumes as well as the quality of
commodities on a timely basis. Specifically, strategies adopted by this policy to

Equal Opportunity Laws Title Vii Essay
Equal Opportunity Laws Title VII The first aspect of Human Resource that will be addressed is
equal opportunity and the laws that go along with it. There were several equal opportunity laws
enacted from 1964 to 1991. 2 The first of these was Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act which
states that an employer cannot discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national

and to labor organizations, as well as to the federal government. 4 Title VII also prohibits
employment decisions based on stereotypes and assumptions about abilities, traits, or the
performance of individuals of certain racial groups. According to Society for Human Resource
Management, it states that, possible criminal practices include soliciting applications only from
sources in which all or most potential workers are of the same race or color; requiring applicants
to have a certain educational background that is not important for job performance or business

Gun Free Zone Case Study
Are gun free zones worth having in American schools? Through the recent struggles in policy
related to mass school shootings in gun free zones, I believe that we should evaluate current
policies and if need be, propose new policies, to limit or eliminate mass shootings in schools, which
can and should be prevented. A common misconception when talking about gunfree zones is that
Gun free zones can easily be misunderstood as meaning zero guns, but rather (usually) means that
an unauthorized person cannot carry in that area (which may vary from state to state). But the issue
isn t with the misconception, but more so with the lack of safety that schools have or so we think.

I believe that there are too many factors that play into these scenarios. To say that it is guns that
need to be fixed, is not considered a proper argument. To consider this a gun cause argument, you
would have to establish that it is guns that were and are the primary cause. Are guns a big issue,
yes, but more importantly, we have to establish what the main issue is. The first part to fixing
something and finding the solution, is identifying the problem.. People aren t limited like
guns..guns can only shoot their caliber, shoot so far and can only be shot by the person controlling
the weapon or system controlling the weapon. With saying that, people will find original and
genius plans to create weapons to mass murder people...E.g. Boston marathon explosion...the
perpetrator used a pressure cooker....a pressure cooker...and there was still mass destruction, so
what I m arguing is that there may be more than one argument against gun free zones. Let s look at
past scenarios to get an idea of what is going on besides guns. As stated in the New Yorker: School
shootings mostly involve young white men. And, not surprisingly, given the ready availability of
firearms in the United States, the phenomenon is overwhelmingly American. But, beyond those
facts, the great puzzle is how little school shooters fit any kind of

At 3:00 PM on Sunday April 13th, 2014, I attended the performance Shared Graduate Dance
Concert at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center Dance Theatre. Walking into the theatre I
had anticipated experiencing an upright performance. This sensation came as I visited the website
for the Shared Graduate Concert and saw a breath taking photo that entailed a person behind a
curtain holding their hand up and a fuzzy person in front of a curtain. Also, I knew I was in for a
good ride after I saw Meghan Bowden in the pamphlet.
The temperament of the performance Canned Soup shook the audience out of their chairs. This
scene in particular stood out to me the most. The woman dressed in a just a bathing suit, a pretty
dark scene with only a beaming red light, and absolutely no music, obscured a unique type of
humor during her performance. The scene was comprised of a small swimming pool, canned
soup, and side performers dressed in black clothing with ties. In place of music Lynne Price was
able to interact with her breath as a way to create a rhythm that she could move her body too.
Movement quality is a very important aspect of any performance. Although, I thought all the pieces
were astonishing, I felt the movement quality for each performance was slightly different. In Let

music. Also, the performers incorporated their breath into their movement as the lights changed

The question is should Boston Beer attack light beer market? And the answer is yes. Here are the
main reasons why BBC should capture their opportunity.
The recent market position of Samuel Adams beer is very strong, as well as growth prospects.
According to Boston Beer Portfolio (1997) showing that Boston Lager and Seasonals have grown
by 5% and 10% respectively since 1996. Moreover, if we take a look at Exhibit 7 showing men
preferences over regular beer we will see that 45% of weekly servings are SAM (Boston Beer

chance to try light beer by the same company, switching from Bud and Amstel to Lightship.
Best rankings in preferences over other light beer alternatives
In 1987 when Lightship was introduced, 90 out of 100 voters preferred Lightship and marked it as
their favorite. One decade passed, but the preferences did not change according to Blind Test

Cons Of Book Censorship
Book censorship tries to shelter us from certain books that carry messages that are known as
controversial, but this promotes cleansing children from the harsh reality that we live in today.
Censorship is the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, and news. That are
considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. Book censorshiphas taken many
great works of literature away from us due to topics that may concern parents or school boards.
These topics include racism, sexual jokes or references, and many other messages that have a
negative image in the eyes of parents and schools. While some see book banning as an attack on
their favorite book or just to literature in general, others, mostly parents and schools, see
censorship as the best way of defending their children from the harsh reality that we live in today.
Although some see book banning as a strong attack against important history in literature, others,
especially parents, see book banning as protection from the cruel history our country has had.
These inappropriate books could also affect a child s view on the world. The biggest culprit of this
scenario is racism, which is the one reasoning for the banning of To Kill a Mockingbird and
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Parents and schools are worried that if children read a book with
such racial tension and prominence, than the children themselves will become racists. Stories like
these could also confuse students into to

Film Analysis Of The Film 12 Angry Men
This essay will explore the Oscar winning United artist film 12 Angry Men directed by Sydney
Lumet; with a thorough evaluation of how successfully the narrative reflects tensions in 1950s
America. 12 Angry Men is renowned for its strong linear narrative and the ability to obtain the
attention of the audience with the use of only one mise en scene. The 1957 courtroom drama was
established around the key theme of Politics and the battle between communism and capitalism in
1950s America; with a traditional Hollywood Narrative being sustained throughout, enabling a
powerful and persuasive style. 12 angry meninitiate with an introductory scene, displaying external
architecture of the New York County Courthouse which sets the scene for the rest of the film by
highlighting the importance of the location. When brought inside, the audience is introduced to the
12 jurors, through a camera pan from right to left, to show their importance as they remain the key
focus for the entirety of the film. With a high camera angle introduction of the main suspect, a
young underprivileged Hispanic boy, whose life depends on the white men who sit before him.
American society
There are many nostalgic ideas of the 1950s that often create images of happiness; not far from
those depicted in blockbusters such as Randal Kleiser s Grease (1959) and Walter Lang s Cheaper
by the Dozen (1950). However, the reality of 1950s America was far from enjoyable. Although the
1950s was filled with consumer

Digital Immigrants In The 21st Century
Born in the digital age and surrounded by digital products, students today are referred as digital
natives who have gained specific technical skills and are fundamentally different from the older
generations in the way of thinking and processing information, thus they require a new educational
approach (Prensky, 2001). To engage with the younger generations, Prensky (2001) suggests that
educators, who are considered as digitalimmigrants, should change their teaching methodology and
content. As the development of information technology in the 21st century has significantly
increased the speed and greatly ameliorates the way students communicate and gather information,
digital technologies such as computers and digital games are now suggested

Why Is Coach Carter A Movie
Coach Carter is an American biographical sports drama film inspired by a true story of Richmond
High School basketball coach, Ken Carter, who made headlines in 1999 for benching his
undefeated high school basketball team due to poor academic results. It was released in 2005 and
was directed by Thomas Carter.
There are a few reasons as to why I chose this film over many others. Firstly, Coach Carter had a
twisted storyline as compared the sports drama films. Instead of focusing mainly on practising
basketball, they work hard towards achieving better grades and a secured future. Secondly, I think
that this movie stressed on setting clear expectations. I feel like I can relate to this as this current
year will be tough in the long run. It encourages me to plan and set better expectations to improve
myself in certain areas such as my character and education wise. This film sends the message of
how dedication and teamwork makes up a stronger team. To me, the theme in this movie is to not
give up and when the odds are against you, overcome them.

However, they lose the game to St Francis by just 2 points. Unlike many films, there is no
perfect sporting ending for Coach Carter. I always believe that to win a game or a battle is a
form of victory, instead this movie had taught me and widen my perception on victory. In Coach
Carter, victory does not determined on their last game but the victory is off the court in a way of
how the team has come together as one and the differences they make to their lives by changing
their outlook and future. It is true however that winning and the reward motivates us through the
challenges in our life but it s the journey itself which is made up of setbacks and challenges that
we faced and overcome, and realising on our weaknesses and strengths is what makes us achieves

Realism And The Theory Of Realism
Introduction
The idea of Realism was unofficially was created in fifth century BC by Thucydides, and
continued through Niccolo Machiavelli. This lead to the first official IR theory of realism in
Thomas Hobbes, amd Hans Morgenthau, known as Classical Realist. From there Classical Realism
evolved to the ideas of Kenneth Waltz, which brought along the ideas of neo realism or structural
realism theory. Then came offensive, defensive, and neoclassical realism. Overall the main idea of
realism is defined by internationalrelations.org as when looking at the political system, or more
specifically, the international system, realists focus their ideas about how international relations
work based upon the concepts of power and security. ( Realism ... Show more content on

This ranges from military presence to business presence. These countries want a piece of
Afghanistan politics. This analysis of Realism will use this situation as an example of why these
countries are involving themselves in Afghanistan, to better understand the theory.
System and Power
A system, from a neorealist point of view is described by Waltz as A system is composed of a
structure and of interacting units. The structure is the system wide component that makes it
possible to think of the system as a whole. Waltz furthermore goes into how to define a structure A
structure is defined by the arrangement of its parts. (Waltz, 1979) Bringing the neorealism theory
that looking at politics, structure is the arrangement of the states, not the collection of them. This
leads in to the neorealism idea that there is no central authority, and the world depends on balance
(Sterling Folker, 2013). That the one thing structure or balance depends on is the states, not NGOs
or other actors. From a classical realism perspective according to Morgenthau s It is a characteristic
aspect of all politics, domestic as well as international, that frequently its basic manifestations do not
appear as what they actually are manifestations of a struggle for power . (Morgenthau, Thompson
Clinton, 2010) Morgenthau is saying that states are power seekers, and strive for dominance which

Anti Vietnam War Era Essay
Anti Vietnam War Era
The SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) gave perspective into the mindset of Washington
University students during the late 1960 s and early 1970 s. These students would provide
demonstrations and opinions that would impact the social environment and activities of a time of
confusion and political un justification. Many returning VietnamVeterans and students would take
action during the anti war era. As the war had continued, the public had changed their views of the
war becoming aggressive and unsupportive to what they felt was a lost cause. After reviewing
several leaflets and newspapers written by students of Washington University, demonstrations of
their ideas and involvement during the anti Vietnam War movement would give considerable detail
to this era. Peace on Earth G.I Movement Past and Present, and A US Infantry Squad Just Came
through Here, all provided evidence that civilians and military would not continue to support the
war and take action regarding it. Peace on Earth, was an itinerary written by Jon Birch (C.O

The Central Nervous System For Spinal Cord Injuries
Introduction:
The central nervous system is what connects the brain to the muscles of the body. When a patient
has an injury to the spinal cord, movements in certain parts of the body will be affected based on
the location of the injury. If the injury affects hand motion then many day to day tasks are affected.
This literature review seeks to understand how an injury to the spinal cord impacts movement, and
what has been done so far to help those affected by spinal cord injuries.
Methods:
The information in this literature review was collected from an expert interview and the search
databases Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar. The expert for the expert interview was
selected based on experience with designing prosthetics for individuals that had lost their hand and
potentially part of their arm (Birdwell, 2016). The databases were searched using keywords spinal
cord injury , hand movement , and fine motor movement . In PubMed the selection was also
narrowed down by selecting only studies done on humans. New terminology was searched through
science direct due to the built in function that allows for key words from the article to be selected
for further information from multiple books or journals.
Results:
How a healthy body transmits signals:

Benefits Of Black Rhino
The black rhino also plays an important part in a country s economy as they make up a large
source of income in countries like South Africa and Namibia, where ecotourism is extremely
popular. They are therefore contributing to the economic growth as well as the sustainability of
these countries as it produces job opportunities for the locals.
Black rhinoceroses are often seen with oxpeckers. This is an example of mutualism as both
parties benefit from the other. The colourful little bird eats all the insects and parasites on the

Having lived in South Africa for so many years, we were made aware of the seriousness of the
poaching happening. The brutal and inhumane way these innocent animals are tortured and killed
for their horns is unacceptable and cruel. I have been fortunate enough to have gone on several
safaris where I have been able to see these beautiful creatures flourish in their natural habitat. As one
of the oldest mammals on Earth, dating back 50 million years, it is important to protect this
creature from poachers to prevent their extinction. The rhinoceros is an important mammal who
plays a vital role in the ecosystem, as they maintain local vegetation around them as well as
having other animals rely on them. These fossil like creatures who have braved ice ages and
fought off pre historic predators can simply not become extinct because of humans wrong doing.
The black rhino cannot protect itself from poachers as they are helpless when it comes to the
tranquilisers used. It is our duty to put a stop to the illegal trade of rhinoceros horns. I believe it
is vital that we respect planet Earth and coexist with each and every different species as they all

Islamic Sharia Law And Sufism
There are few different branches of Islam but the two most prominent branches are Sharia law and
Sufism. Sharia law and Sufism both seem to contradict each other. Sharia laws are the Qur anic
rules for the tangible world. The law includes predetermined punishment and rewards for actions,
clearly defined by the Qur an. It also has a spectrum of the lawfulness of actions, ranging from
required to forbidden. Sufism, however, takes a more mystical approach to the practice of Islam.
Sufism focuses on rejecting the material world and becoming one with God through self
annihilation. Despite the difference, I argue Sharialaw and Sufism can be reconciled because
although one person cannot practice both at the same time, but both versions of Islam... Show more

For example, if one is accused of drinking alcohol, there has to be a witness to the act just a smell
in one s breath wouldn t be enough to prosecute (Rushad, 534). However, skeptical Muslims
question if drinking alcohol is completely forbidden or only drinking to the point of intoxication.
Some also brought up cases such as someone dying of thirst taking a sip of alcohol. Would this
still be punishable? Problems like these are where Islamic scholars known as Muftis come and try
to give a solution based on their Qur anic knowledge (Hallaq, 9).
Islamic laws can controversial at a times due to ambiguity of Qur an. When Muslims are not sure
about Sharia law they usually ask a Mufti. Mufti, after considering the issue, then issue a Fatwa,
a legal answer to a question a Mufti was asked to address (Hallaq, 9). For example, theft is
committed when something is taken from its appropriate safe place. One might ask what is
considered a safe place and Muftis will issue a Fatwa identifying what qualifies as a safe place.
Muftis determines punishment for Hudud based on the Qur an (citation). For example, the
punishment for theft is the cutting off of one s hand, which raises the question of what is
considered a hand. Is it up to one s wrist, up to one s elbow, or up to one s shoulder? Given the
vagueness of the Qur an, Muftis will study it thoroughly before issuing a Fatwa. While Muftis place
much emphasis on textual analysis of the

Research Paper On How To Reduce Bounce Rate
Simple Tweaks to reduce bounce rate by 50%
A website s rank is dependent on many factors. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is done in
regular basis to maintain the ranking. There are two types of SEO and those are On page and Off
page SEO. Bounce rate comes under Off page SEO and it is better to have less bounce rate. The
amount of time user spends on your website is taken into consideration by Google search engine
and it decides whether to use that page for showing in the next searches. It is pretty important that
the content is unique and design of website is user friendly. Let s discuss some tweaks to reduce
the bounce rate.

This results in users spending time in your website. Google Analytics will record the time spent
because this data is one of the factors used for rankings. If the data is good and visitors giving
positive response by spending time, then search engine will pick this webpage for the next set of
users who query the same question or related questions. Algorithms used in search engine find for
websites that fulfill all their requirements and the top sites to maintain those will be picked to be
displayed in search engine results. Bounce rate is reduced with users spending more time in your
pages.
Smart phones have become an important part of our life. Many apps to reduce the burden of
work have come and most of the people now a days search for information from mobiles rather
than computers. It is very important for the websites to be responsive. If the website is not
responsive, then surely visitor leaves without any second thought. It is a fact that responsive design
is tough with more content and ads but the designer have to take this duty and design in a
minimalist way possible.
Google keeps track of websites with Google Analytics code. In that code, there is a timer that is
by default set to 15 seconds. That is the minimum time which a user have to spend on website. If
the user opens and closes the website in less than 15 seconds, then that goes under bounce rate.
According to officials, we can change the time to 10 seconds. So, if a user stays for 10 seconds

Mapp Vs. Ohio Case Study
Previously, in a 1949 decision (Wolf v. Colorado), the Supreme Court expanded some of the
protections of the Fourth Amendment, however, it did not go so far as to apply those protections
to the states. Specifically, the exclusionary rule (the rule that states that illegally obtained evidence
may not be used against a defendant) was not applied to the states. Mapp v. Ohiowas an opportunity
to do just that. The Mapp v. Ohio case originated in Cleveland and concerned a situation in which
policeofficers broke into the home of Dollree Mapp, claiming they had a search warrant. They told
Ms. Mapp that an informant had told them that a suspect wanted in a bombing was hiding in her

Behavioral Techniques in the Classroom Essay
Behavioral Techniques in the Classroom
Very often, American parents complain that schools are disorderly and undisciplined. They claim
that their child s behavior has worsened and the child is using vulgar language. Teachers, however,
complain that students arrive at school lacking common courtesy and respect for authority. Because
of this, instruction time is wasted trying to obtain order (Bennett, et. al., 1999).
Student discipline is affected by classroom management. The way in which a teacher manages his
/her classroom delineates the type of instruction that will take place in the classroom. A classroom

The clearer the structure in the classroom, the more freedom the teacher can allow students (Slavin,
2003).
Classroom rules are important in the smooth management of classrooms (Wardle, 2003). Effective
schools ensure that parents and students know what is expected of them. Their written rules
clearly define acceptable behavior and the consequences for breaking the rules (Bennett, et. al.,
1999). Class rules should be few in number, should be seen as fair and make sense to students, and
be clearly explained and taught to students. Class rules should become second nature to students
(Slavin, 2003). Not only must rules be clearly presented to students, they must also be
implemented. Students need to know that there will be real consequences for their misbehavior,
not something that they will feel is not a big deal. The teacher needs to be the moral authority in
the classroom and it is imperative that school officials and parents back up the teachers decisions
(Bennett, et. al., 1999). Teachers who do not establish their authority in the classroom often spend a
lot of time dealing with misbehavior (Slavin, 2003). Good behavior should be recognized and high
academic standards maintained. Students must understand that good manners are not a choice but
a requirement; however, teachers and other adults need to teach the students the need for self
discipline. If students continue to be chronically disruptive, they should be taken out of class

Fight Club is a movie based on the book of the same name written by Chuck Palahniuk. It was
released in 1999 as a film directed by David Fincher. The film, when first shown in theaters, did
poorly falling well short of what 20th Century Fox s expectations were. The major problem that
the film had was its negativity toward women with such lines as, we are a generation of men

is seemingly the root of all the nameless main character s problems. By contrast in the movie are

In many circles of Buddhism, they do not see themselves as religious but instead a philosophy
with no belief in a god or high power. Rather a higher understanding called nirvana. The Buddhist
tradition of nirvana is described as the extinguishing of the fires that cause suffering. These fires
are typically identified as the fires of attachment, aversion, and ignorance. Once again in this belief
we see the idea of letting go and becoming more aware about the self. There are many types of
enlightenment in Buddhism but the most prevalent is nirvana and the release from rebirth cycles.
Where there is nothing; where naught is grasped, there is the Isle of No Beyond. Nirvana do I call
it the utter extinction of aging and dying. There is that dimension where there is neither earth, nor
water, nor fire, nor wind; neither dimension of the infinitude of space, nor dimension of the
infinitude of consciousness, nor dimension of nothingness, nor dimension of neither perception nor
non perception; neither this world, nor the next world, nor sun, nor moon. And there, I say, there is
neither coming, nor going, nor stasis; neither passing away nor arising: without stance, without
foundation, without support. This, just this, is the end of stress. (Sakya 48) So what does any of
this have to do with the story in Fight Club? In the beginning of the story our nameless protagonist
is suffering from insomnia. Three weeks and I hadn t slept. Three weeks

  • 2. The Most Important Philosophers In The Age Of Enlightenment The Age of Enlightenment started in 1550 and ended in the 1800s. It contained a lot of important events and people. It had the Scientific Revolution, American Revolution, and French Revolution. It also had five important philosophers like Rousseau, Montesquieu, Diderot, Wollstonecraft, and Voltaire. My thesis is what philosophers played a part in The American Revolution and French Revolution and how. The first philosophy I want to discuss is Montesquieu s Separation of Powers. Montesquieu separated the powers into the Executive Branch, Judicial Branch, and Legislative Branch. These three branches play a part in each others decisions and powers that choose and make. If the Separation of Powers never happened then I think that we would have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Venus Of Willendorf Statue Analysis Since ancient times, statuary has taken on a special role within the culture that creates it. Statues have often been considered an important medium to represent the goals of patrons. For example, when survival of the species was the greatest challenge facing civilization, the Venus of Willendorf came into being. Its exaggerated bodily features represent the yearning for fecundity. As art and sculpturehave developed, the reflection of society s values in sculpture has remained. In this paper, I will address two statues from the ancient era; the statueof Gudea created in the neo Sumerian period and the ancient Greek statue of the Kouros made in the archaic period. These two works are separated by nearly fifteen centuries, and naturally the contrast of these sculptures reveals how people s lives and artistic goals have changed over this span of years. Over the course of this paper, I am going to address what each work represents in its respective society and the difference in artistic style between the two civilizations.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an attempt to entrench alien presence, Gudea commissioned countless statues and installed his statues within every temple in the region. Presumably he used these statues as political means to bring stability to the region.[1] The replicas of this statue were viewed as intermediaries between the local deities and the rulers. This statue held an important position in Neo Sumerian society because the populace attributed the prosperity of the nation to the benevolence of the local deities. This particular belief also allowed local rulers to establish the regal presence in every temple. The omnipresent image of ruler facilitated the settlement of the migratory ... Short And Lifetime Goals Short and Lifetime Goals In my near future, I am leaning towards attending the University of Indianapolis mainly because of the strong DPT program they offer to their students. I have been accepted and have had the honor of being a direct admission into the DPT program offered at the University of Indianapolis. I found my career choice with my mixture of strong academic and athletic performances. I have plenty of first person accounts of rehabilitation to muscles and bones from sports injuries, and I have become curious about other types of injuries that a physical therapist would encounter outside of sports injuries. Types of Landslides 4.1. slides 4.2. falls 4.3. Topple 4.4. flows 4.5. lateral spread 5. Effects 6. Evaluation of Landslides 7. Prevention and remediation of landslides 8. Conclusion 1.Definition: Landslide is the general term used to describe the down slope movement of soil, rock, and other earth materials under the effects of gravity and also the landform that results from such movement. 2.Occurrence of Landslides. Landslides can occur virtually anywhere in the world, where climate, precipitation, bedrock and soil conditions and slopes are susceptible to failure. Landslides can occur under water too, along continental slopes and deep sea fans. Landslide can occur in bedrock or on soils; agricultural lands, barren slopes and forests. Both extremely dry areas and very humid areas can be affected by slope failures. Thus, steep slopes are not a necessary prerequisite for landslides to occur. In some cases, gentle slopes as shallow as 1 2 degrees have been observed to fail. However steep slopes are more prone to landslides. So, majority of land slides are associated with hilly and mountainous areas. They also commonly occur along steeply sloping coastlines and river valleys. 3.Causes of Landslides: Often more than one factor contributes to landslides that include geology ... • 8. Summary Of Sheriff Bud Wendell Drove Patiently Down... Sheriff Bud Wendell drove patiently down route 41. He wasn t necessarily needed anywhere and this was perhaps the first moment he could relax after a rather contentious campaign battle against his challenger and former undersheriff, Carl Stringham. Politics in the South could get down right nasty at times, but SheriffWendell took small solace in the fact that it wasn t he who spread the rumors of Stringham s clandestine romances with men from a neighboring town. Sure, Sheriff Wendell knew that Stringham was a homosexual. Stringham had worked as his deputy for twelve years and what man wouldn t be aware of such preferences after being in the company of another antithetically oriented man for so long. It never made a difference to him, though. Bud knew Carl was a strong man and would have made an honest sheriff, but politics in the south was never about a man s merits or soul. More often than not, a lever was cast for the man who reminded people of themselves, at least their public selves. All it took in this case was one whisper from Julie Hollis to Deanne White at the beauty salon back in October and the race for county sheriff was over. Surely, her husband, Deputy John Hollis had nothing to do with it. While he found Stringham s gossip piece to be an unfortunate setback in the merits of the sheriff s race, Bud Wendell knew Carl was a good man but knew himself to be the better man. If you asked them in private, most of the county would probably agree. With his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Analysis Of Goodfellas Sound and music have long since been staples of the gangster genre, used both to add more tension in suspenseful scenes, or to immerse an audience in the time period of the film. These examples and many like it are most notably used in the 1990 Gangster film Goodfellas by Martin Scorsese, who uses these to set the atmosphere of each scene, and reinforce the running narrative of the film. Goodfellas retells the story of American born gangster Henry Hill, and the rise and fall of him and his way of life from the 50 s through the 80 s. I picked Goodfellas as the focal point of this essay because of it s use of music and sound to set it s story s atmosphere both visually, and through auditory means. Firstly, Goodfellas starts with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These types of musical choices are plentiful in the first half of the movie, until being abruptly shattered by the introduction of William Billy Batts Bentvena. Billy Batts is a made member of the Luchese crime family, first introduced in The Suite Lounge, where he mocks Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci) about him once being a shoe shiner. Eventually, Tommy and his associates beat Billy Batts within an inch of his life while the song Atlantis by Donovan starts to play. Atlantis breaks the repetition of love songs that had preceded it, instead replacing it with a fantasy song. While in no way a sad song, Atlantis shows Henry s rising uncertainties with his romanticized lifestyle, showing that he still loves the fantasy of it, but isn t in love with all aspects of it. Additionally, Atlantis s lyrics, which do appear to have romantic backing, also contain more morose lyrics like gotta tell me where she gone and Way down below the ocean where I want to be. These wistful lines parallel Henry s inner monologue in this scene, showing his clear want to return to the romanticized, clean cut world that he had known just previous to this scene. This subtle narrative change in direction isn t confined to Goodfellas either, appearing in Arthur Penn s Bonnie and Clyde. With Bonnie and Clyde, shortly after Buck Barrow s death and after Bonnie is shot, Clyde has her and C.W. hide in a field whilst he goes to commandeer a car close by. As ... Causes and Effects of the Opiate Epidemic The novel, Dreamland by Sam Quinones, goes into depth about the Opiate Epidemic in America. Quinones really focuses on a town called Portsmouth located near the Ohio River. This is a town that at one point in time was booming, until the epidemic reached Portsmouth and took over the town and surrounding areas. The epidemic is not only in Portsmouth, but around the world. The problems have impacted the care of patients when dealing with pain medication and if the patient really needs it. There are some key things that Quinones keys in on like the difference between the Xalisco Boys and the Drug Cartel , what the Pain Revolution was, and what allowed the pill mills to flourish. If Dr. Procter had the appropriate amount of time to spend with his patient and not tried to make the appointment fast, the guy probably would have not ended up addicted to painkillers. There is one group that Quinones focuses on in the novel which are the Xalisco Boys . The Xalisco Boys way of drug dealing was very different for that of the Drug Cartel in various ways. The Xalisco Boys are usually illegal immigrants from Xalisco, Nayarit. The Drug Cartel is any organization or group of people who are involved in the drug deals. The best way to describe the way the Xalisco Boys do drug deals is very similar to someone delivering something to your house like a pizza delivery. This is very different from the traditional Drug Cartel because they usually meet up somewhere and not deliver it to that person s house. The way of the Xalisco Boys was successful because it was not a suspicious because it they made it look like a delivery. • 12. Science in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Rappaccini s Daughter The short story Rappaccini s Daughter can be seen as a love story about young man determined to be with his beloved, despite the fact that she is poisonous. However, when examining the text, underlying theme about science arise. During the time in which this piece was written, science was rapidly evolving. All biological sciences must first go through a taxonomic stage since their data must be put in order before they can be employed in research on an analytical level (Shryock 291) Rappaccini s Daughter by Nathaniel Hawthorneuses Rappaccini s unrelenting pursuit of knowledge that resulted in the tragic loss of his daughter; to show the productive and destructive powers of scientific discovery, which evolved American society... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These discoveries helped shape the views of 18th century American society. Parallels about religion can also be made by comparing Rappaccini s poisonous garden and the Garden of Eden. The story contains many biblical allegories which hinted to the viewpoint of that time. The most significant Parallel that can be made between the story and 18th century American Society is the use of science to explain the rank of creatures in nature. The Mismeasure of Man by Stephen Jay Gould is an important tool in critiquing the misuse of science to justify social inequalities such as racism and sexism. In assessing the impact of science upon the 18th century views of race we must first recognize the cultural milieu of a society whose leaders and intellectuals did not doubt the propriety of racial ranking with Indians below Whites and Blacks below every one (Gould 63) Rappaccini uses the excuse that the world is dangerous to justify why her made his daughter poisonous. He fails to realize that he is actually hurting his daughter Beatrice. Rappaccini myopically ignores the needs of others, imposing his sense of things on the people who fall under his control.(Wachtel) His selfish actions shows that he has a lack of morals. A second parallel that can be made is Rappaccini s desire to have dominion over nature Dr. Rappaccini is extremely talented botanist; he has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Supply /Demand Diagram for Changes in Market for Live Rock Concerts (1998 2008): 5B. Economists use cross elasticity of demand to determine whether two products are substitutes or complements. The cross elasticity of demand measures how quantity demanded of one good (albums) responds to a change in the price for another good (live concert tickets). For example, between 1998 and 2008, sales of albums were down 45%, but over the same period, concert ticket sales revenues more than doubled to $4.2 billion, despite rising rises. In contrast, there are few, if any, alternatives to a live performance listening to an album is not considered a substitute for a live concert. Another factor to consider is resources (cash) people who buy less albums have more cash to purchase a contract ticket. 6A. Economic profit equals net earnings, in the accountant s sense, minus the opportunity costs of capital and any other inputs supplied by the firm s owners. Bob and Jane s economic profit is different from their accounting profit. Accounting Profit = Total Revenues Total Costs = $8.0 mil $7.4 mil = $.6 mil ($600,000). However, Economic profit = Accounting Profit ($600,000) Opportunity Costs ($360,000) = $240,000. • 14. My Experience In A Restaurant Looking back, I can still recall the countless days that I spent in my family s restaurant. For twelve hours every single day of the week, I spent the majority of my time alone at a corner table. My mom was always occupied with leading the stream of faces, pouring through the doors, to their tables and attending to their needs. On the other hand, my dad would be busy operating the large woks, rounded cooking pans, over scorching red flames in order to keep the food trays in front of the kitchen doors filled. Even though my parents were always around me, I had to spend most of my timeby myself. I would spend the dull lengthy periods I had doodling on menus, building with Legos and crafting action figures out of eating utensils and rubber bands. Although I came up with many activities to shorten the long days, my constantly changing thirst for entertainment could not be quenched. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many entrepreneurs enjoy the early start up phases of the business cycle. Of course, selling a business has its drawbacks, as well. First, the buyer often requires that the management team from the acquisition target stay on board for a specific period of time and achieve certain key performance indicators before receiving the entire payout. Often, there is a lump sum delivered up front, and then incremental payouts upon achieving KPI s. This could be frustrating to Tom and Tom, as they would relinquish all of their independent decision making powers and have to take the back seat as employees. Typically, this is not a comfortable position for entrepreneurs to take. Also, Tom and Tom built up a loyal and talented staff of employees at Nantucket Nectar. Acquisitions are typically driven by synergies and, as a result, certain employees could be terminated in pursuit of cost savings. Finally, Tom and Tom would have to deal with the fact that their company culture would be at risk. Often, the buyers culture engulfs that of the company being acquired. The third option available to Tom and Tom is taking the company public, or an IPO (Initial Public Offering). Essay on Making a Biogas Digestor for Ugandan Farmers Introduction For this project I am doing biogas, most farmers in Uganda don t make use of the animal waste to generate energy for their household use. Having a biogas digester would give farmers power which they can use for lighting and cooking. The digester produces bio slurry which serves as organic manure for their crops. Therefore biogas would be the most efficient and accessible form of energy in the rural areas which constitute 80% of the population of Uganda since the animal waste is available to them at no financial cost. Solution An ambitious target is needed by the government of Uganda to provide accessible, cheap and clean energy to the 75% of the population. The government of Uganda through the Ministry of Energy should subsidize the cost of the bio digester unit. From records, the GDP per capita for Uganda is 1,500 Dollars therefore it is one of the poorest countries in the world (CIA World Fact book). It is therefore very difficult if not impossible for a household to be able to afford a bio digester because a unit cost between 700 and 1000 United States Dollars (Kafayat Adeyemi). There should be programmes on the importance of bio digester to the farmers (savings, clean cooking, health benefits, green or sustainable environment etc.). This will give the farmers a sense of responsibility and involvement in the whole process. Donor funding should also be pursued. The farmers in rural areas should invest in biogas digesters, a biogas digester would be useful because it needs raw materials which are available to the farmers at any time. ... Some of the models have been effective and others have not. Among some of the most biblical and efficient models are the ones that involve small groups. Within the small groups models, they can be broken down into further detail, such as pastoral involvement, the church s goal, missions mindedness, etc. In this paper, I will explain my philosophy of small groups in a church and the importance of the relational group in authentic disciple making. I will also explain how missional groups can help the body of Christ move out into the community. Finally, I will summarize my status in regards to living in community with other believers and being missional with that community. My Philosophy of Small Groups My personal philosophy of small groups is scriptural based. Acts 2:46 says, And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart. As the original church began, it is obvious from Acts chapter two and particularly from verse 46 that the church met in unity in large groups. They actually used a two fold approach of meeting in large group meetings and then in the homes for more intimate small group gatherings. The Conflict Between Israel And Palestinian Refugees Going after their independence, Israel was looking for the support of big and powerful countries, and the cooperation of the surrounding states. Unfortunately, the Israeli independence movement did not turn out to be so easy. As the surrounding Arab nations began to get angry with the preferential treatment of the British, tensions rose between Israeland the Palestinians. Consequently, because of the superior army and the support behind Israel, the wars resulted in an abundance of Palestinian refugees that still struggle to establish their own state today. Through many efforts and support systems, international aid has been offered to the Palestinian refugees, but as proven by the millions of refugees that still live in the UNRWA camps today, none of these tactics have worked. Although international organizations were ineffective in solving the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian refugees, the establishment of an Arab state early on would have prevented a future humanitarian crisis; demonstrating the preferential treatment within foreign intervention. Agricultural production entails investment of resources and farmers will have no incentive for making investments in areas where there is little opportunity for marketing their products or if the returns accruing from the sales of agricultural products do not reflect the opportunity cost of investment. As a result, most farmers in areas with few marketing opportunities are engaged primarily in subsistence agriculture, which has constrained improvement in their quality of life [3]. The problem of market access is linked to the inability of farmers to meet market standards, low volumes of produce, wide dispersion of producers, presence of middlemen and perceived low prices in the formal market [1 7]. The second Meditation in Descartes Meditations on first philosophy begins with Descartes reflecting on how he has found himself to be mistaken regarding matters that he was formerly certain of, and doubting everything he once knew to be true. He then resolves to sweep away all of his preconceptions, I shall proceed by setting aside all that in which the least doubt could be supposed to exist, just as if I had... He first considers what he knows about the wax through the senses: taste, smell, color, shape, size and hardness. He then observes what happens when the piece of wax is melted; all of the sensible previous qualities change in that it s soft instead of hard, yet it is still the same wax as before. Our knowledge that the solid wax and the melted wax are the same cannot come through the senses because all of its sensible properties have changed. This is a relationship I have given everything to, a relationship I have fought for time and time again. I have had to deal with the lies of my brain and the foolishness of my heart. There was a time I didn t understand myself, because of this misunderstanding I decided it was easier to hate myself in that moment. I can say that I have come so far from that in the past year and a half. Becoming more in tune with myself and learning to love me in a healthy way. This is my journey to finding myself. My heart wrenching odyssey all started at the end of my junior year of high school. I had just gotten out of a heavy relationship with someone who didn t care about me from the beginning. I was wrecked emotionally but I would never acknowledge this as a fact. My self esteem was at an all time low and at the time I had no idea how to rebuild it, trial and error was my plan of action. My first mistake was thinking anyone else but myself could fix what was broken. I put all my problems on my friends unknowingly asking them to do the impossible. I was scared of the quiet, because it held the truth. So I would spend time with anyone that would give me just a moment of their time. This plan had worked well enough for an amount of time but it soon became to repetitive and didn t keep the sorrow away for any amount of time. I could also tell I wasn t the best company in the ... Through the recent struggles in policy related to mass school shootings in gun free zones, I believe that we should evaluate current policies and if need be, propose new policies, to limit or eliminate mass shootings in schools, which can and should be prevented. A common misconception when talking about gunfree zones is that Gun free zones can easily be misunderstood as meaning zero guns, but rather (usually) means that an unauthorized person cannot carry in that area (which may vary from state to state). But the issue isn t with the misconception, but more so with the lack of safety that schools have or so we think. Are there too many killings with current policies in place? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that there are too many factors that play into these scenarios. To say that it is guns that need to be fixed, is not considered a proper argument. To consider this a gun cause argument, you would have to establish that it is guns that were and are the primary cause. Are guns a big issue, yes, but more importantly, we have to establish what the main issue is. The first part to fixing something and finding the solution, is identifying the problem.. People aren t limited like guns..guns can only shoot their caliber, shoot so far and can only be shot by the person controlling the weapon or system controlling the weapon. This sensation came as I visited the website for the Shared Graduate Concert and saw a breath taking photo that entailed a person behind a curtain holding their hand up and a fuzzy person in front of a curtain. Also, I knew I was in for a good ride after I saw Meghan Bowden in the pamphlet. The temperament of the performance Canned Soup shook the audience out of their chairs. The woman dressed in a just a bathing suit, a pretty dark scene with only a beaming red light, and absolutely no music, obscured a unique type of humor during her performance. The scene was comprised of a small swimming pool, canned soup, and side performers dressed in black clothing with ties. Book censorshiphas taken many great works of literature away from us due to topics that may concern parents or school boards. Although some see book banning as a strong attack against important history in literature, others, especially parents, see book banning as protection from the cruel history our country has had. These inappropriate books could also affect a child s view on the world. The biggest culprit of this scenario is racism, which is the one reasoning for the banning of To Kill a Mockingbird and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
