My Thoughts On The Classroom
Honestly, when I walked into the classroom on the first day, I didn t know what to
expect. I had signed up for the course just as a way to get credit for an IDS
requirement, and did not think too much about this class at first. My thoughts
were racing as the idea of a circled classroom seemed kind of strange to me.
However, after that first day, I knew that I was going to enjoy the class. We talked
about each other before we did anything else. We formally introduced ourselves and
expressed our feelings and beliefs to one another, and showed every person in that
room that we all have our differences, but, we can still share this experience
together. This was different than any other class that I had previously taken, last
semester, or in high school. There was so much to this class that I could use in

even some people we never got the names. The videos that were shown to us were

Today, was my second day onsite at the Watsonville Law Center. When I arrived I
logged into a computer and started typing my notes from the door to door solicitation
/consumer intake. Upon typing my notes I realized that I was missing important

Social Class to Disadvantage: An Intellectual History of the Use of Class to Explain
Racial Differences in Criminal Involvement asks an important question, why do we
always connect crimes with race? Crutchfield states When race is not the focus,
differences in ethnicity, religion, immigration status, or some other marker of being
the other are part of how we think about and talk about crime(2). Crutchfield
proposes that we continually seek out groups to ostracize and blame crime on. Out
groups when blamed for crime, it is attributed to interiority or social class. We
often attribute crimes (those of property and violence) to those of different races.
But if the question was reworded and was understood to include collar crimes,
white people would have a huge crime rate. Crutchfield stumbles on several
correlations while in this inquiry: that African Americans are more involved in kinds
of crime that lead to prison sentences (compared to whites), and that people in lower
social classes serve time for these offenses. As African Americans, are very abundant
and overrepresented in the areas of low socioeconomic class, the fallacy usually
arises that the correlation between the poor African Americans and crime is

Things
An antagonist can be defined as someone or something that is put in the story to
oppose the protagonist or to cause problems that need to be overcome. Throughout
the story, every character in one way or another causes problems, as the story
emphasizes that nobody is perfect. The Orangedrink Lemondrink man could be an
antagonist as he causes Estha great emotional turmoil and traumatizes him. Ammu
and Velutha could be antagonists because if they hadn t had the affair then maybe
Velutha wouldn t be dead and the children wouldn t have been separated and
maybe, just maybe, Sophie Mol wouldn t have drowned in the river. Chacko could
also be an antagonist as he kicks Ammu out of the house which eventually results in
the separation of the twins. However, one character, in particular, Baby Kochamma,
in every part of the story, not only does she cause problems, she causes problems for
everyone. Baby Kochamma causes problems for Rahel and Estha, for Ammu, for
Velutha, for the police, and even makes Chacko more miserable and angry, eventually
leading him to force Ammu to leave. Baby Kochamma continually manipulates the
characters in the story into doing what she wants to get herself out of trouble.

traveling Eastbound on Highway 90 near Ladnier Road, with out a driver side tail
light. I initiated a traffic stop with that vehicle on HIghway 90 near Ladnier Road. I
approached the driver side window of the vehicle and made contact with Wiley

literature is a southern genre where the story is focused around gruesome or dreary
ideas. The characters are also normally damaged, delusional or mentally ill. In the
two short stories, A Rose for Emily and A Good Man is Hard to Find both have
elements of southern gothicliterature. In A Good Man is Hard to Find , one example
of southern gothic literature is when the family is on their trip and they drive by

and an observant outsider will be able to perceive the way things work and pick up

system. This hidden or implicit curriculum plays a significant role in the educational
life of a student and the professional life of a teacher, as the norms and day to day
happenings engender a culture that impacts behavior and beliefs. Some aspects of the
hidden curriculum are hard to identify, while some are purposeful but not explicitly
taught. The following authors address the various definitions and issues that are
associated with this powerful facet of learners education and educators profession.
