During the novel, The House on Mango Street, author Sandra Cisneros relives a childhood similar
to hers, where the main purpose of life is having the ability to dream. Most characters that live on
Mango Street, such as Esperanza Cordero, dream of having a better life and deserting their past of
poverty and struggle. Cisneros constantly makes this apparent to the reader because without

novel, The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros develops the subject of dreaming through
Esperanzas relationships female family members, the symbol of writing, and the motif of houses.
To begin, Cisneros develops Esperanza s relationship with her mother and her friend, Alicia, in
order to promote the fact that leaving a community like Mango Street is possible. These minor
characters do not play a huge role in Esperanza s life, yet they unknowingly show her that it was,

The prostate is a walnut sized organ that is located between behind the pelvic bone. It is distal to
the bladder and rests on the rectum. It helps urine flow out of the body; because of where the

said to be approximately 20g in volume, 3.5 cm in length and 4cm wide and 2cm in depth. The
prostate gland is divided into two main parts: the central zone and the thick outer zone which is
called the peripheral zone. There is also a small portion of the gland that is called the transitional
zone. The central zone is the area that surrounds the ejaculatory ducts. About 1 5% of
adenocarcinomas can be found in the prostate gland. The peripheral zone covers that lateral aspects
of the prostate. It contains 70% of glandular tissue (Muruve). The transitional zone consists from
the bladder neck to the membranous urethra. In this zone benign prostatic hyperplasia occurs which
leads to an obstruction of the bladder outlet. Prostate cancerusually shows up in the transitional

Son. The message here is clear; through Jesus, the lamb, one will be saved. It is also interesting that
Calabrese places John between the lamb and his hand. It coincides with the paintings function as an
altar piece in that John serves as an intercessor to the Divine. Through him, one has access to Jesus,
and therefore God. The geometrical lines and shapes add to the painting s dynamism and contribute
to the optimistic promise the painting conveys.
Stylistically, his painting is an example of the smooth manner, characterized by fine technique in
the portrayal of illusionistic form. In this painting, Calabrese uses strong directional lighting from

It is impossible to read William Golding s novel, The Lord of the Flies, without noticing the
symbolism that was present. A symbol can be a person, place, or thing that represents something
