Asoka Dbq Essay
Asoka was the powerful Indian leader of the Mauryan Empire over 2,000 years
ago. He is known as the founding father of India. Asoka conquered important
territory and spread popular religions across the world (BGE). Was Asoka a
ruthless conqueror or enlightened ruler? Asoka was an enlightened ruler because of
his strategic conquests, and giving up violence. Strategic Conquests Asoka was an
enlightened ruler because of his intelligence and strategy. Evidence of this is when
he conquered Kalinga. This was an important conquest to the economy of the
Mauryan Empire. He strategically surrounded Kalinga when conquering it (Doc B).
This evidence explains why Asoka was an enlightened ruler because he was doing
good for his people and economy. He also
Explanation Of Coronary Heart Disease
Explanation of coronary heart disease.
Currently, cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the United States and
the developed world (Sapolsky, 2004, p. 41). Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the
most common form of cardiovascular disease, which is killing more than 7 million
individuals on an annual basis.
Disorder, which underlines CHD, is called atherosclerosis, process that involves
inflammation of the lining of blood vessels leading to progressive accumulation of
macrophages, lipid, T lymphocytes, platelets and smooth muscle cells in the walls of
the coronary arteries. As a result, coronary arteries narrow so that blood supply to the
working heart muscle can decrease. Later, plaque, which is made of fatty cells
(cholesterol), forms on vessels that lead to the development of clumps of cells and
other material called thrombi. Atherosclerosis generally starting early in life and
progressing till people get older. Studies found that atherosclerosis can start
developing between 10 and 14 years old (Hong, 2010). However, more people are
affected by atherosclerosis in their 20s and 30s (Swiech, 2013). Usually the disease
occurs at the stage when the coronary arteries become blocked, partly or completely.
Therefore myocardium muscle becomes ischaemic as it is not supplied with blood
anymore. At this point person can experience pain in the chest, which is called
angina, heart attack or death. Unfortunately, about 47% of cardiac deaths are sudden
and happen within 2
Technology s Impact On The Impact Of Technology In The...
We are living in the informational era where everything is expected to be innovative
and always in demand. With that comes the never ending innovation of technology.
Looking back in to the history of sports, the growth of technology has unpredictable
consequences towards the sports industry however, it grew sports into what it is
today. The sports industry first took its great leap of popularity through the industrial
revolution. With more people coming into urban living, people had more money and
more time to focus on sports. Without the technology that made factories possible,
people may not have time to focus on sports. Furthermore, in the 19th century, the
growth of sports was almost dependent on new technology: transportation. The
inventions of railroads, trains and telegraphs made sports a nationwide event.
Thousands of new inventions of technology such as, TV, internet, shoe factories,
clothing factories, phones, magazines, and many more has complimented the growth
of sports. With the increasing demand and popularity of sports, sports teams have
mega stadiums worth millions and billions of dollars. To give a perspective, the Los
Angeles Stadium, the home for the LA RAMS and Chargers has a price tag of $2.66
billion. However, today, technology has shifted towards a to go mentality, where
everything can be accessed instantaneously anywhere in anytime. Therefore, this
research would attempt to identify the effect of technology on the influences in sports

Violence Vs Non Violence Essay
Peaceful resistance to laws positively impacts a free society. Rather than having
violent movements and harming citizens, it is better to peacefully resist. Once a
violence is used, the resistance to the law becomes nulled. People tend to not
follow a violence protester. Once a violent riot starts, chaos is everywhere. People
forget what they are truly fighting for. They unconsciously run away with the fear
of getting harmed and dare not to go back. A peaceful resistance on the other hand
leads citizens to join and support. People are able to see what they are fighting for
and their real intentions. They are able to stand and cause no problem to people
passing by as they are showing their support through silent voices. Many famous
activists and leaders are for nonviolence. Mahatma Gandhi, a primary leader of India

Blessed is the man who can perceive the law of ahimsa (nonviolence) (Gandhi s

that people should stay away from it. Violence will create another violence and
there would be no end. Also, the government takes the violence resistant harshly.
They ignore people who cause disturbance to the society and to the citizens. Having
a peaceful resistance, the government sees the people and consider their resistance
and try to come with a solution to satisfy their citizens. Another leader who was

Comparing Mavericks And The Gangster In The Huddle
Sports is a language that is universal. Authors often write stories that are about
sports because people can relate to them. They use sports to enhance the meaning
of their content and make it more interesting to readers. Sports Writing is writing
that just happens to be about sports. Sports Writing tells a story. In the articles, The
Gangster in the Huddle by Paul Solotaroff with Ron Borges, and, Mavericks by
Alice Gregory, the authors use sports to help them develop, and make an
interesting story for their readers. Description is very important in any kind of
writing. Both authors use sports to help them become descriptive and make the
reader feel like they are actually part of the story. In the very first paragraph of
Mavericks, Gregory gets very descriptive. She describes the faintly smell of saltwater,
diesel fuel from probably surf vans and trucks and weed from the people driving
those diesel vehicles (2013). Right off I get a sense of where she is and the people
that she is most likely surrounded by. She also describes the humungous waves called

Tone determines whether the reader will be interested or not. For example, if an
article is overly scholarly than the reader might get bored. Or maybe that s the
kind of writing the reader likes. Gregory uses a personal and nostalgic tone. She
recalls the times that she used to surf and work at the surf shop. She gets really
personal when she talks about how she used to pee in her wetsuit because it was
the easiest way to keep warm (2013). Her talking about surfing in this descriptive
manner allows the readers to feel like they ve surfed before even though many
people reading the article probably never have. Solotaroff and Borges used an
unsympathetic tone. They described in detail about the demise of Hernandez and at
the end they call Hernandez a menace to society but, because he s rich and well
known the authors think he will catch another break
Animal Cruelty And Its Effects On The World
Animal Cruelty The weather outside is harsh. The wind is blowing and the
temperature is below freezing. Imagine being locked in a cage and left unprotected
from this weather with small portions of food and water that has turned to ice. Now
imagine being yanked from this cage and bashed on the floor, stunned, and now
skinned alive. Does this sound cruel? Does this sound like something that no
creature should ever have to endure? This is something that is experienced by many
different types of animals across the world every single day on fur farms. Animals
are left out in the cold to produce their thickest fur coat and then skinned for that fur.
This process happens to approximately sixty minks in order to make one coat
(RandomHistory). It is almost impossible to fathom the amount that this must have
happened just to create all the mink coats in the world, much less the amount killed
if you include all of the other species used to make coats. The saddest part of it all is
that this is only the beginning of the multitude of horrendous things that happens to
the most innocent of God s creatures. God put animals on the earth to make man s
life better and to survive not for man to disrespect and torture them. Animal crueltyis
overlooked and ignored and it s time for people, all people, to stand up and defend
these animals and be their voice. I warn anyone who chooses to read further that
most if not all of this information is very difficult to take and is not for

In the specialty literature doubts persist in using this terminology, especially in
relation to the scope of the hospitality industry. Thus, a series of authors consider as
part of this field only food and accommodation services, perhaps because those
benefits are offered under the same premises works like industrial units, other
authors, however, consider it appropriate a broader approach, including leisure
services and even the marketing of products.

expanding within an industry sector, for example through the development of hotel

The Passionate Shepherd to His Love is about a shepherd who promises
everything he could to a woman so that she would love him and live with him.
Come live with me my love, and we will allthe pleasures prove. The Shepard is
lonely and really needs a woman companion and he will give her anything. He
promises that he will make her many things. And I will make thee beds of roses, and
A cap of flowers, and akirtle. He really loves this woman ifhe is willing to
handcraft items for her to wear. Some of the things he promises would be very
tedious to make andshould be appreciated greatly. A beltof straw and ivy buds with
coral clasps and amber studs. After making all ofthese things for the woman the man
is in for a surprise that he wasn t expecting.
In The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd the Nymph tells the Shepherd what shethinks
about all of the promises that were made to her. If all the world were young, and truth

Factors That Affect The Water
Drag is a common force in the universe, and occurs in everyday life especially in
water. Mr. Redman states that, forward is a propelling force; drag is a force that
hinders that motion or is the force acting in opposition to the motion of an object.
Parachutes are a great example of this force; when air is trapped in the nylon of a
parachute, it creates dragslowing the velocity of the parachutist. Water drag is acted
upon swimmers at all times. Hydrodynamics show that materials of the swimmers
closely affect drag. Swimmers wear sleek swim caps, shave their body, and wear
tightly fitted swimsuits all to reduce friction. Skill level and technique of a swimmer
also affect drag resistance. Water is 800 times denser than air, drag forces... Show

Trucks experience air resistance due to their big and boxy frame. Air constantly
pushes against the shipping containers. Engineers have found a way to combat such a
force by adding large hoods or visors, in which the cab and trailer are connected.
The back of the truck is built in a streamlined fashion, like a plane, to completely
extinguish swirling air (Parola, 2000). Another example of drag is frictional
forces. Trains, for example, use wheels to move along tracks. These wheels
encounter friction when stopping. Metal on metal gains immense friction and
may become hot. This drag is common among cars and other ground transportation.
Engineers have looked to the future to solve this drag. MAGLEV trains are
levitating trains that use magnets for propulsion. This way friction drag is
eliminated, yet air resistance is still a factor. To cut down on air resistance,
MAGLEV trains incorporate aerodynamic principles such as a slim line body to
cut through air, that way the force of air is evenly distributed around the body.
Drag also occurs in water called, fluid friction or fluid resistance. Boats, ships, subs,
whales, dolphin, and swimmers all go through fluid rest incense. Much like air
resistance, fluid pushes against the direction in a object is moving. And again much
like air resistance, a streamlined body will reduce this drag. Submarines were once
built like boats only they were underwater. Until 1953 when the us army proposed a

Rather than an image of the descending preexistent redeemer, Dunn argues that this
is a case rather of Paul s Second Adam Christology (Dunn258f). The author says
Incarnation became steadily more central as the decisive act of redemption a
tendency already evident in Irenaeus who can speak of Christ attaching man to God
by his own incarnation (Adv. Haer. V.1.1) so that later theology had to look for
meaning in Christ s death more as the paying of a ransom to the devil than as the
ending of the first Adam that last Adam might come to be ( Dunn 128). I think
Dunn was argued about the Romans 3.23 All have sinned and fallen short of the
glory of God, Dunn translates hysterountai not as fallen short but as fail to reach as
in All have sinned and failed to reach the glory of God. In other words Dunn is
attempting to say they lack the glory of God in the sense that they fail to reach the
eschatological glory in which only the righteous will share...there is a growing
consensus among recent commentators that the primary allusion is to the glory once

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Perfect Competition

Market:
Market refers to an arrangement, whereby buyers and sellers come in contact with
each other directly or indirectly, to buy or sell goods.
Thus, above statement indicates that face to face contact of buyer and seller is not
necessary for market. E.g. In stock or share market, the buyer and seller can carry on
their transactions through internet. So internet, here forms an arrangement and such
arrangement also is included in the market. 1. A pictorial representation of market.

Imperfect competition is a competitive market situation where there are many sellers,
but they are selling heterogeneous (dissimilar) goods as opposed to the perfect
competitive market scenario. As the name suggests, competitive markets that are
imperfect in nature.
Perfect competition Perfect Competition is a market structure where there is a
perfect degree of competition and single price prevails. Nothing is 100% perfect in
this world. So, this states that perfect competition is only a theoretical possibility and
it does not exist in reality.
Monopoly: The term monopoly is derived from Greek words mono which means
single and poly which means seller. So, monopoly is a market structure, where
there only a single seller producing a product having no close substitute. This single
seller may be in the form of an individual owner or a single partnership or a Joint
Stock Company. Such a single firm in market is called monopolist. Monopolist is
price maker and has a control over the market supply of goods. But it does not mean
that he can set both price and output level. A monopolist can do either of the two
things i.e. price or output. It means he can fix either price or output but not both

Anna Maria Hong says similar things to Pamela Steed Hill. Hong says that Nye
offers that instead of being a random act, kindness is received after going through
certain experiences. She also enjoys the use of metaphors and personification. One
great point that Hong makes is that she believes that the Indian on the bus refers to
feeling uncomfortable or foreign in an environment. Most people look out the
window instead of embracing it. If this poem was compared to an event in real
life, one might use an example of going to a new school. When a kid or teenager
enters a new territory, they may not feel socially accepted at first. It is human nature
that making friends is not an easy task. That is why other peers should be kind
toward new student. You never know what kind of friend you might get unless you
try. However, most people don t know what being a new student is like unless they
have actually been one themselves.
In conclusion, Naomi Shihab Nye has written a truly meaningful poem about the
meaningfulness of kindness. Once one knows what kindness really is, you will
always be reminded of it. However, Nye says that you must loose things in order to
gain the full feeling of it. She uses personification, free verse rhythm, simile, and
alliteration to make all of the most important points in this poem. Pamela Steed Hill
and Anna Maria Hong give their opinions, and overall, enjoyed this poem. Students

Examples Of Utilitarianism
Utilitarian View Managers with a utilitarian viewpoint on ethical behavior establish
decisions that are contingent upon providing the greatest good to the greatest number
of people. Under the utilitarian view, actions are ethically permissible when the right
expected principles promote happiness for the greatest number of individuals, while
actions that cause pain to the greatest number of individuals are not honorable. The
view takes into consideration what is valuable, except, individuals are diverse and do
not place the same value on items that bring value to life. Additionally, managers
cannot know the exact outcome of decisions; therefore, performing the correct action
does not guarantee the greatest number of people will achieve the greatest good.
Choosing actions based on the utilitarian view can lead to making an ethically correct
action that causes the minority to suffer at a greater rate than a little inconvenience
suffered by the majority. Pay inequality is good for corporations to have positive
returns; nevertheless, women suffer from not making as much as men and

individuals certain rights that did not always give everyone the same rights, such as,

laws that disenfranchised minorities and women, leading Congress to enact addition
laws and create agencies to enforce laws (Hersch Shinall, 2015). While corporations
operated under the rights afforded by the government, a greater number of individuals
in society suffered, as the laws did not protect all individuals until Congress officially

Descriptive Basketball Game
When you re stressed out where do you go? We all have a place where we can go
and relieve our stress. Whether it s a physical place or a state of mind we all have
a place where we feel untouchable. Where the never ending piles of class work and
the constant nagging of friends seem to dissolve like kool aid in water until left with
nothing but a smooth mixture of me, myself, and I. For me this place is the court: the
basketballcourt. When I open the doors of the gym I am met with the familiar
sound of squeaking shoes and balls bouncing on the hardwood floors. I go to sit on
the aged wooden bleachers and watch the game that is currently taking place. The
weight my worries are being lifted a little as I get wrapped up in the game. The guard
is bringing the ball up the court his eyes scanning for an opening to either pass or
shoot the ball. The opposing team has every man covered leaving little to no room
for the guard and his teammates to set up the play. As soon as the guard sets foot pass
half court two defenders go to trap him. Wrong move. The guard quickly, almost
effortlessly sidesteps one of the defenders and dribbles the ball through the leg of
the other and proceeds to pass the ball to one of his teammates who take the ball
straight to the rim. I can t help but smile at this perfectly executed play as the game
continues. There are several more plays like this made on both sides but, they all
seem to dull in comparison with the first one.
While their game is coming to an end, my problems slowly begin to creep their
way back into my mind as I begin to stretch. Loosing up my body for the intense
workout that is coming. As they get off the court I decide to begin my workout
with some basic ball handling drills. Through the left leg, behind the back, around
the right, switch, through the right leg, behind the back, around the left leg, repeat.
The ball flowing smoothly through my legs like water as I continue to increase
the pace until I ve done this ten times on each leg. As I continue my problems are
beginning to matter less and less. Next, I start my shooting drills and I am soon
welcomed by the feeling of the ball leaving my hand. And like when an archer
releases his arrow from his bow and is

Basing Strategy on Resources and Capabilities
During the 1990s, ideas concerning the role of resources and capabilities as the
principal basis for firm strategy and the primary source of profitability
coalesced into what has become known as the resource based view of the п¬Ѓrm.1
To understand why the resource based view has had a major impact on strategy
thinking, let us go back to the starting point for strategy formulation: typically some
statement of the п¬Ѓrm s identity and purpose (often expressed in a mission
statement). Conventionally, п¬Ѓrms have answered the question what is our
business? in terms of the market they serve: who are our customers? and which of
their needs are we seeking to serve? However, in a world where customer
preferences are volatile and the identity of customers and the technologies for serving
them are changing, a market focused strategy may not provide the stability and
constancy of direction needed to guide strategy over the long term.2 When the
external environment is in a

instead of using a dental implant made out of titanium. Implants can be viewed as a
luxury tooth replacement option, but that should not stop you from getting them. The
dental implant procedure will cost more money than traditional procedures, but the
result will be much better for you in several ways. Consider these 4 reasons why it s
worth investing in a dental implant to fix your missing teeth.
Dental Implants Will Last A Long Time
Traditional methods, like dentures and bridges, can require replacement or repair
every few years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The post permanently fuses with the bone that surrounds the post, and causes the
implant to be secure. The bond helps you avoid dealing with things like adhesives or
re adjustments, and gives you more confidence when speaking and eating since an
implant won t slip out of place.
Dental Implants Don t Require Special Cleaning
The problem with dentures is that you must remove them to give them a good
cleaning, and it requires using a special kind of denture cleaner to do it. If you do not
follow the specific cleaning instructions outlined by your dentist, it can result in the
dentures having an odor. The great thing about dental implants is that there are no
special cleaning instructions. You simply brush them as if they are completely
natural teeth. The tooth may be fake, but cleaning them is essential to maintain
healthy gums that hold the implant in place.
Dental Implants Will Preserve Your Surrounding Teeth
The biggest benefit of having a dental implant is that the titanium post helps stimulate
your gums just like a natural tooth. This does not happen with dentures or bridges.
Without the stimulation, the gums start to lose their strength, which can affect the
teeth that surround the gap. An implant will help prevent bone loss from occurring in
that area, keeping the surrounding teeth

Benefits Of Zero Tolerance In Schools
Zero Tolerance Policies in Schools
Gabrielle Harms
University of Central Florida
The safety of students is a primary concern in schools today. This encompasses safety
from people on the outside and the inside of the school, including safety from other
students. Ronald Reagan put forth the zero tolerance policy to punish people
involved in drugs. In order to bring increased safety to schools, the zero tolerance
policy began to spread its influence in education, starting with implementing gun free
schools (Walker, 2009). Since Columbine, zero tolerance policies have grown to
punish students who are in possession of a firearm/weapon/anything that resembles a
weapon, possession of drugs, possession of alcohol, creating or initiating ... Show

There have been several reports on zero tolerance policy, including one from the
American Psychological Association, that indicate that these policies fail to reach
their goal (Sheras and Bradshaw, 2016). These reports have concluded that there
should be a change in either how zero tolerance policies are applied or enact
alternative policies for these offenses (Sheras and Bradshaw, 2016). The APA along
with other reviews are not the only source of shift in opinion about zero tolerance
policies (Sheras and Bradshaw, 2016). The United States Department of Education
has even publically shown opposition against these policies recently (Sheras and
Bradshaw, 2016). However, these policies are easier to rely on in the event of a
school shooting, violent acts in school, or some other incident (Sheras and
Bradshaw, 2016). It is easier to implement zero tolerance policies during these
events because they are already in place and the guidelines are more simple to
follow. The guidelines require all offenses result in expulsion or suspension,
regardless of the offense or degree of the crime (Sheras and Bradshaw, 2016).
Implementation of these policies also creates an environment of safety in the public s
eyes, which helps increase the school s approval during the tragic event (Sheras and
Bradshaw,

ClГ©o appears to be upset and restless by the fact that no one is giving her the
attention she is accustomed to (Neroni 125). However, as the movie continues and
ClГ©o meets more and more people and explores the world further while walking
aimlessly, ClГ©o comes to grips with the fact that she may no longer represent
society s expectation of beauty if she does have a horrible skin condition. Thus,
ClГ©o sheds her synthetic self and finally reaches a state of calm self awareness

encourages ClГ©o to not voice her concern about her potentially terminal cancer

Unfortunately, ClГ©o s beauty could not possibly protect her from death if her

Introduction In this chemical reaction, the magnesium will dissolve in the
hydrochloric acid to produce hydrogen gas. This is because magnesium is higher
than hydrogen in the reactivity series. Therefore, when the two reactants are
combined, a displacement reaction occus and the magnesium displaces the

If there is more surface area exposed to the hydrochloric acid, the particles of acid
will have a greater area of magnesium to react with and form successful collisions,
thus increasing the rate of reaction. Volume of Hydrochloric Acid Used: An overall
volume of 50ml of hydrochloric acid and water should be used for every trial. If a
lesser volume is used, this will decrease the rate of reaction as there will be less
particles in the HCl to collide with the Mg particles, which will lessen the chance for
creating a successful collision, and thus lower the rate of the chemical reactions.
Timing of the experiment: Bung with delivery tube should be placed on the conical
flask as soon as possible after the magnesium ribbon is dropped. This will ensure that
as much of the hydrogen gas gets measured in the measuring cylinder above the
trough, in order to obtain accurate measurements when calculating the rate of
reactions. Stopwatch will begin as soon as the magnesium is dropped into the
hydrochloric acid, so that the timing of the reaction is measured accurately. Cleaning
of the magnesium: The ribbon of magnesium will be cleaned with sandpaper to
remove the coating on the magnesium metal caused by reactions with atmospheric
gases. This needs to be done so that the measuring cylinder measures the gas produced
from the reaction

Plato s Allego Of The Cave Analysis
Plato divided the world into two realms: Realm of Appearances and Realm of Ideas
or Forms. He based this philosophy on two arguments. First states, that when you
look at clouds, you see that the are white, then one look at the paper to write down
these observations, and it s also white. But how two essentially unrelated forms are
grouped together as white color. He explains that there is a perfect whiteness as a
reference, and we intuitively know it. The second argument of Plato is that there
is a form of the perfect circle. Anatomically we as humans are not able to draw a
perfect circle; the ends will not meet at the same point, and it will be a little oblong.
But the manufacturers and artist need to understand the idea of the perfectness of
the circle because they will not be able to reproduce one. Looking at these
arguments, presented by Plato, relativists might say that white color reference
socially formed. Imperialists would say that white is white because we learned it
from the early age, and there is no such a thing is... Show more content on

The difference between the opinion and knowledge can be explained with Plato s
Allegory of the Cave. You see the life and environment in the light of your level of
intelligence; your opinions correspond to a set of references you gained. And it
might be frustrating to try to explain what it s like outside of habitat and situation
to someone who does not have the capability to comprehend your ideas without the
same experience. I have many friends in Russia, and when I went back to visit
them after eight years leaving in the US and traveling the world, I understood that it

their little city in the middle of Ural Mountains. I felt exactly like that prisoner from
Plato s cave, who returned to the cave to his friends, but none of them grasped a

Achilles Vs Perpetua Quotes
Achilles or Perpetua: Who is the more heroic? Greek tГ®mГЄ means, in a literal
meaning, worth or value. It was a socially constructed value that measured a person
s value to their society. Namely that an individual s sense of honor was only valid if
others within their community perceived them to be honorable. Honor could be
achieved such as military, social, or political or ascribed, in the sense that a person
was honorable because of their reputation. In the same ways, a person could just as
easily be dishonorable or shamed. Furthermore, the most crucial tenets of honor in
antiquity would be whether a person has died with or without honor. Based on this
concept, Achillesis irrefutably more heroic than Perpetua. Under the persecutions
during the Severan Dynasty Perpetua, a twenty two year old new mother, was killed
for her Christian beliefs. Although in today s definition of heroism (perhaps
selflessness) we might answer this question differently, however if we are to examine
these characters and their actions within... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

her own cause, because she was disliked and unapproved by her community, and
therefore dishonored, she cannot be deemed a hero. This is true because only an
honorable one can be a hero based as in agreement with the philosophies of ancient
Most Crowdsourcing Platform Implementation Projects Fail
Most crowdsourcing platform implementation projects fail. To succeed, therefore,

Crowdsourcing development requires the investment of substantial capital and

Social Workers And The Social Worker Client Relationship
Today s social workers are surrounded by technology, which changes the way social
workers and clinicians practice. Technology helps social workers and clinicians
work more efficiently and effective, as it improves greater productivity, less
paperwork, ultimately allowing more time for clients. With the increase of use in
technology, the current NASW Code of Ethics (2008), has created new standards
specifically related to electronic communications, such as email, fax machines,
computers, and electronic records. According to, Getz (2012), research and
experience thus far indicates that mobile application technology has the capability
to support the social worker client relationship . With the increase in technological
advances, social workers have the ability to utilize technological assessment tools in
order to assist veterans with psychological issues. Currently, there are many
different websites that social workers or clinicians could use in order to better serve
and assess veterans. One online website that is beneficial for social workers to use is
the U.S Department of VeteranAffairs, PTSDAssessment. This website assists
social workers by giving information on a variety of measures assessing trauma and
PTSD in Veterans, such as assessment basics, training and tools, and veteran
specific information (2015). This website provides facts about PTSD, as well as a
practical guide to assessing PTSD. I would use this tool as a resource for working

Essay on The Downfall of Macbeth
The Downfall of Macbeth
Macbeth is victorious; he has just returned from the battle ground as a brutal
warrior; courageous, but what is more, heroic. At this point in the play, Macbeth s
reputation is rapidly growing with the rampant spread of the word of his good deeds
at war. This climaxes when his actions are acknowledged and rewarded by the title
given to him by King Duncan,
No more that thane of Cawdor doth deceive our bosom interest. Go, pronounce his
present death, and with his former title greet Macbeth.

For his question suggests that the greeting is not that far from the truth, and not at
all as outrageous as it first appears. In saying this, it may have prompted Macbeth s
sudden urge for what he does not have and sparked his friend s ambition and
imagination. In a soliloquy in scene three of act one, just after Banquo his expressed
his thoughts on the prophecy, Macbeth toys with his own ideas, trying to draw
conclusions as to what he believes.
This supernatural soliciting cannot be ill; cannot be good: if ill, Why hath it given
me earnest success commencing in the truth?
As the audience is permitted insight into Macbeth s inner thoughts, we learn of his
uncertainty and his fear. But why the fear? Is it due to the prophecy itself? It seems
not to be the foretelling of events which he fears, but his own reaction. Indeed he
begins to wonder at the prospect of murder without being persuaded by another. The
idea; at this point only a fantasy, has stemmed from his own courage and imaginings.
My thought, whose murder yet is but fantastical, shakes so my single state of man,
that function is smothered in surmise, and nothing is, but what is not.
Macbeth is so disturbed by the implications of what he has thought, that he finds
himself unable to do anything but think of the possibilities.
However, Macbeth is a

American dream instead, I will focus on the American reality, or the American dream
as it actually affects our daily lives. In this paper I will analyze the manifestation of
the American dream across the twentieth and into the twenty first century. The
American dream is little more than an American nightmare it is destructive and
consuming. In my exploration of this topic I read four novels, each representing a
different time period in the United States of America. In my first chapter I will
evaluate the usage of the American Dream in Bret Easton Ellis American Psycho, and
Sloan Wilson s The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit. Both Ellis and Wilson suggest that
the pursuit of wealth in America according to the American dream is self destructive.
In American Psycho, Ellis imposes his claim by drawing parallels between the hunt
for wealth and violence, by illustrating a sense of indifference to violence with wealth
being the ultimate concern, and by linking greed with the physically grotesque.
Similarly, Ellis purports the same notion of the destructive nature of the American
dream in its actuality by connecting wealth and

distracting was when Momaday would move off of the obvious aspect of his
journey home. Even though I very much enjoyed the amazing descriptions that he
used in telling of the lands from where his people came, I found it hard to grasp the
purpose behind the side stories that were being told. I had latched onto the story of
him returning home to his grandmother s grave since that was the first aspect
presented to me as the reader. Once I had read the text over and studied it a little
more deeply, I realized that the purpose of the story was not to tell of Momaday s
journey back to rainy mountain, but to tell the story of the Kiowa s journey to
Rainy Mountain. I thought it was a little distracting the first time I read because I
was distracted by all of the information that Momaday was telling about the Kiowa
people and their history. I kept expecting to hear of his trip back to Rainy
Mountain and what he was experiencing during this time. As I said before, it was
not until I went back and reread the essay did I catch on about the true point to the
story. This might have been avoided if Momaday had made it clearer that the focus
of the story was on the Kiowa people and not his journey back to see his
grandmother s grave. Once I understood this
Doctor Papbst Journal
Day 8 was a really slow day in my opinion, although it was super fun. Day 8 was Dr.
Williams birthday and he loves to celebrate his birthdays as all the coworkers
would say. The first half of the day we had 3 patients and all of them were hygiene
so they just got their teeth cleaned and etc. On Dr. Pabst side of the office, in my
opinion it was pretty busy. The first patient came in to get fitted for Invisalign. The
dental assistant took impressions on him and Dr. Pabst came in to take so nice
pictures for his Invisalign profile. The second patient came in because he was
experiencing severe pain on tooth # 2. I ended up taking a radiograph on him and
found a huge abscess. Dr. Pabst came in and prescribed him so medicine for pain
relief until... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After she got her attachment off from her Invisalign. We had to take impressions
on her so that she could wear retainers for her teeth to remain straight and in place.
After doing the impressions 5 times, they finally tuned out. She literally wears a
XL impression tray and even that little trying to fit all of her teeth in. after the
patient was finally done and gone, the next patient came in to get a permanent
crown cemented on once again because she swallowed her first one and didn t
realize it until she went to go eat again. When Dr. Pabst went to go take all the
temporary cement out she basically jumped out of the chair in pain. She had a
root canal done on the tooth in front of the crowned tooth because she would not
listen to Dr. Pabst when he said that it was time to have to filling done. When
trying to put the crown in her mouth she jumped again and Dr. Pabst was like you
literally just got a root canal done, this tooth should not be bothering you at all
because the root is gone. She gave a little attitude and said Well it does and he said
well it shouldn t. SO apparently, she was supposed to take medicine for the rest of
the infection to go away and she never did, so he had a talk with her about taking the
medicine this
Bruce Dawe Metaphors
Bruce Dawe s poems Katrina , A Victorian Hangman Tells His Love , Homo
Suburbiensis and Enter Without So Much As Knocking depict life and death through
the use of similar poetic techniques such as metaphors, imagery, onomatopoeia, tone
and similes, although, with different circumstances. The events in these four poems
evoke emotions within the reader, the most common being sadness and frustration.
These emotions are explored, in all four poems, through the tone of melancholy. The
use of the melancholic tone in Dawe s poetryenables him to explore life from his
poems Homosuberbenisis and Enter Without So Much As Knocking and death
through his poems Katrina and A Victorian Hangman Tells His Love .
Dawe s poems Katrina and A Victorian Hangman Tells His Love explore death
through the extensive use of metaphors, tone, similes and imagery. Katrina is a poem
based on Dawe s two month old daughter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is evident through both poems that Dawe believes the events in these poems are
an injustice and he disagrees with these events; this is heard through the
melancholic, sad tone that is apparent in both poems. He uses this sad tone to
persuade the reader to disagree with what has happened. The poem Katrina uses
many metaphors to create imagery, which is also another technique in the poem.
One example of the use of metaphor would be suspended between earth and sky ,
this line is a metaphor for life and it signifies the suspense as to whether Katrina
will live or die as well as providing imagery to the reader. Similarly, the poem A

Evaluation Of Honey, I Warped The Kids
Evaluation of Honey, I Warped the Kids
By Hung V. Tran Carl M. Cannon reasons in Honey, I Warped the Kids in the Utne
Reader that violence on television must be suppressed due to its effects on human
behavior. This evaluation will show that though the author makes some good use of
statistical findings, he leaves many holes in his argument by not thoroughly
discussing opposing opinions. Cannon systematically lists the studies and opinions of
others who agree with him and does not discuss opposing positions. In content, first
Cannon discusses the sociological interest in the subject of television violence and
mentions that the first congressional hearings took place in 1954 (95). He follows
that with a list of studies that prove a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the past 22 years, says Cannon, they found, adults and children have been
entertained by about sixteen violent acts, including two murders, in each evening s
prime time programming (96). The statistics in the NBC study, which are touted by
well meaning critics, contradict themselves. The study claims on the one hand that
violence desensitizes children; on the other, that it also incites more violence. In
spite of this ambivalent evidence, Cannon s research is deliberate and narrow
minded in intention, using only what he needs to support his own point of view
and ignoring the NBC evidence. In point of fact, it is arguable that images do not
spill blood, but rather rage, desperation, and revenge, especially when they are
equipped with guns. According to Todd Gitlin, there were 36,000 murders,
accidents, and suicides committed by gunshots in the United States in 1992 alone
(93). Honey, I Warped the Kids seems at first to be a reasonable article. While one
reads this article one may be convinced, thinking that statistics alone can decide the
fate of their children. However, if an opposing viewpoint had been better represented,
the casual reader may not have come to the same conclusion as Cannon.
Someone who disagrees with the article Honey, I Warped the Kids may find Cannon
s position quite troubling. Gitlin says, It s dark out there in the
Essay On Honesty
Honesty is the best policy. We have always been taught this and also that to lie is a
bad thing to do. There is a certain beauty in living life with honesty. While the
benefits of and motivations for choosing honesty in life are many including that
truthfulness and honesty are integral to one s sense of moral integrity living a life
of honesty ultimately means having little to regret. Living with honesty is less
about persistently resorting to truth over deception, and is more about living your
life in a way that is honest to who you are on the inside your strengths, your gifts,
and your passions, as well as your beliefs and morals. Being true to ourselves should
undoubtedly help lead us to what most of us strive for in life some form... Show more

In many situations it is a good idea to keep quiet or, better still, be diplomatic and
tactfully handle sensitive issues. The line dividing honesty and diplomacy is a thin
one. We have to be careful in deciding when to be honest and when to be at our
diplomatic best. We also have to decide whether we should be absolutely candid, or
use the truth as a matter of convenience.
Wars are won by words not weapons. For centuries people have tried to solve their
problems by negotiation. To escape conflicts and wars they have used words to
persuade their opponents. That is where diplomacy begins. Diplomacy is an
intellectual activity and decision making derived from ongoing analysis of current
situations. Diplomacy includes the combination of ways and abilities which any state
can use for its worthy existence in the world and for establishing cooperation with
other members of international community.
In modern day and age, one has to practice diplomacy as it is essential to get one s
way in a world that is highly competitive. What you say matters a lot. One has to be
careful while conveying issues as they would have an impact on one s surroundings.
Building up of personal relationships depends upon your choice of words, how you
convey them to the concerned

Currently, cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the United States and the developed world (Sapolsky, 2004, p. 41). Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the most common form of cardiovascular disease, which is killing more than 7 million individuals on an annual basis. Disorder, which underlines CHD, is called atherosclerosis, process that involves inflammation of the lining of blood vessels leading to progressive accumulation of macrophages, lipid, T lymphocytes, platelets and smooth muscle cells in the walls of the coronary arteries. As a result, coronary arteries narrow so that blood supply to the working heart muscle can decrease. Later, plaque, which is made of fatty cells (cholesterol), forms on vessels that lead to the development of clumps of cells and other material called thrombi. Atherosclerosis generally starting early in life and progressing till people get older. Studies found that atherosclerosis can start developing between 10 and 14 years old (Hong, 2010). However, more people are affected by atherosclerosis in their 20s and 30s (Swiech, 2013). Usually the disease occurs at the stage when the coronary arteries become blocked, partly or completely. Therefore myocardium muscle becomes ischaemic as it is not supplied with blood anymore. At this point person can experience pain in the chest, which is called angina, heart attack or death. Unfortunately, about 47% of cardiac deaths are sudden and happen within 2

With that comes the never ending innovation of technology. Looking back in to the history of sports, the growth of technology has unpredictable consequences towards the sports industry however, it grew sports into what it is today. The sports industry first took its great leap of popularity through the industrial revolution. With more people coming into urban living, people had more money and more time to focus on sports. Without the technology that made factories possible, people may not have time to focus on sports. Furthermore, in the 19th century, the growth of sports was almost dependent on new technology: transportation. The inventions of railroads, trains and telegraphs made sports a nationwide event. Thousands of new inventions of technology such as, TV, internet, shoe factories, clothing factories, phones, magazines, and many more has complimented the growth of sports. With the increasing demand and popularity of sports, sports teams have mega stadiums worth millions and billions of dollars. To give a perspective, the Los Angeles Stadium, the home for the LA RAMS and Chargers has a price tag of $2.66 billion. However, today, technology has shifted towards a to go mentality, where everything can be accessed instantaneously anywhere in anytime. Therefore, this research would attempt to identify the effect of technology on the influences in sports game

Once a violence is used, the resistance to the law becomes nulled. People tend to not follow a violence protester. Once a violent riot starts, chaos is everywhere. People forget what they are truly fighting for. They unconsciously run away with the fear of getting harmed and dare not to go back. A peaceful resistance on the other hand leads citizens to join and support. People are able to see what they are fighting for and their real intentions. They are able to stand and cause no problem to people passing by as they are showing their support through silent voices. Many famous activists and leaders are for nonviolence. • 7. Comparing Mavericks And The Gangster In The Huddle Sports is a language that is universal. Authors often write stories that are about sports because people can relate to them. They use sports to enhance the meaning of their content and make it more interesting to readers. Sports Writing is writing that just happens to be about sports. Sports Writing tells a story. In the articles, The Gangster in the Huddle by Paul Solotaroff with Ron Borges, and, Mavericks by Alice Gregory, the authors use sports to help them develop, and make an interesting story for their readers. Description is very important in any kind of writing. Both authors use sports to help them become descriptive and make the reader feel like they are actually part of the story. In the very first paragraph of Mavericks, Gregory gets very descriptive. She describes the faintly smell of saltwater, diesel fuel from probably surf vans and trucks and weed from the people driving those diesel vehicles (2013). She gets really personal when she talks about how she used to pee in her wetsuit because it was the easiest way to keep warm (2013). Her talking about surfing in this descriptive manner allows the readers to feel like they ve surfed before even though many people reading the article probably never have. Solotaroff and Borges used an unsympathetic tone. Imagine being locked in a cage and left unprotected from this weather with small portions of food and water that has turned to ice. Now imagine being yanked from this cage and bashed on the floor, stunned, and now skinned alive. Does this sound cruel? Does this sound like something that no creature should ever have to endure? This is something that is experienced by many different types of animals across the world every single day on fur farms. Animals are left out in the cold to produce their thickest fur coat and then skinned for that fur. This process happens to approximately sixty minks in order to make one coat (RandomHistory). It is almost impossible to fathom the amount that this must have happened just to create all the mink coats in the world, much less the amount killed if you include all of the other species used to make coats. The saddest part of it all is that this is only the beginning of the multitude of horrendous things that happens to the most innocent of God s creatures. God put animals on the earth to make man s life better and to survive not for man to disrespect and torture them. Animal crueltyis overlooked and ignored and it s time for people, all people, to stand up and defend these animals and be their voice. • 11. Factors That Affect The Water Drag is a common force in the universe, and occurs in everyday life especially in water. Mr. Redman states that, forward is a propelling force; drag is a force that hinders that motion or is the force acting in opposition to the motion of an object. Parachutes are a great example of this force; when air is trapped in the nylon of a parachute, it creates dragslowing the velocity of the parachutist. Water drag is acted upon swimmers at all times. Hydrodynamics show that materials of the swimmers closely affect drag. Swimmers wear sleek swim caps, shave their body, and wear tightly fitted swimsuits all to reduce friction. Skill level and technique of a swimmer also affect drag resistance. Water is 800 times denser than air, drag forces... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trucks experience air resistance due to their big and boxy frame. Air constantly pushes against the shipping containers. Engineers have found a way to combat such a force by adding large hoods or visors, in which the cab and trailer are connected. The back of the truck is built in a streamlined fashion, like a plane, to completely extinguish swirling air (Parola, 2000). Another example of drag is frictional forces. Trains, for example, use wheels to move along tracks. These wheels encounter friction when stopping. Metal on metal gains immense friction and may become hot. This drag is common among cars and other ground transportation. Engineers have looked to the future to solve this drag. MAGLEV trains are levitating trains that use magnets for propulsion. This way friction drag is eliminated, yet air resistance is still a factor. To cut down on air resistance, MAGLEV trains incorporate aerodynamic principles such as a slim line body to cut through air, that way the force of air is evenly distributed around the body. Drag also occurs in water called, fluid friction or fluid resistance. Boats, ships, subs, whales, dolphin, and swimmers all go through fluid rest incense. Much like air resistance, fluid pushes against the direction in a object is moving. And again much like air resistance, a streamlined body will reduce this drag. Submarines were once built like boats only they were underwater. Until 1953 when the us army proposed a

  • 17. Anna Maria Hong says similar things to Pamela Steed Hill. Hong says that Nye offers that instead of being a random act, kindness is received after going through certain experiences. She also enjoys the use of metaphors and personification. One great point that Hong makes is that she believes that the Indian on the bus refers to feeling uncomfortable or foreign in an environment. Most people look out the window instead of embracing it. If this poem was compared to an event in real life, one might use an example of going to a new school. When a kid or teenager enters a new territory, they may not feel socially accepted at first. It is human nature that making friends is not an easy task. That is why other peers should be kind toward new student. You never know what kind of friend you might get unless you try. However, most people don t know what being a new student is like unless they have actually been one themselves. In conclusion, Naomi Shihab Nye has written a truly meaningful poem about the meaningfulness of kindness. Once one knows what kindness really is, you will always be reminded of it. However, Nye says that you must loose things in order to gain the full feeling of it. She uses personification, free verse rhythm, simile, and alliteration to make all of the most important points in this poem. Examples Of Utilitarianism Utilitarian View Managers with a utilitarian viewpoint on ethical behavior establish decisions that are contingent upon providing the greatest good to the greatest number of people. Under the utilitarian view, actions are ethically permissible when the right expected principles promote happiness for the greatest number of individuals, while actions that cause pain to the greatest number of individuals are not honorable. The view takes into consideration what is valuable, except, individuals are diverse and do not place the same value on items that bring value to life. Additionally, managers cannot know the exact outcome of decisions; therefore, performing the correct action does not guarantee the greatest number of people will achieve the greatest good. Choosing actions based on the utilitarian view can lead to making an ethically correct action that causes the minority to suffer at a greater rate than a little inconvenience suffered by the majority. For me this place is the court: the basketballcourt. When I open the doors of the gym I am met with the familiar sound of squeaking shoes and balls bouncing on the hardwood floors. I go to sit on the aged wooden bleachers and watch the game that is currently taking place. The weight my worries are being lifted a little as I get wrapped up in the game. The guard is bringing the ball up the court his eyes scanning for an opening to either pass or shoot the ball. The opposing team has every man covered leaving little to no room for the guard and his teammates to set up the play. As soon as the guard sets foot pass half court two defenders go to trap him. The guard quickly, almost effortlessly sidesteps one of the defenders and dribbles the ball through the leg of the other and proceeds to pass the ball to one of his teammates who take the ball straight to the rim. • 25. Benefits Of Zero Tolerance In Schools Zero Tolerance Policies in Schools Gabrielle Harms University of Central Florida The safety of students is a primary concern in schools today. This encompasses safety from people on the outside and the inside of the school, including safety from other students. Ronald Reagan put forth the zero tolerance policy to punish people involved in drugs. In order to bring increased safety to schools, the zero tolerance policy began to spread its influence in education, starting with implementing gun free schools (Walker, 2009). Since Columbine, zero tolerance policies have grown to punish students who are in possession of a firearm/weapon/anything that resembles a weapon, possession of drugs, possession of alcohol, creating or initiating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There have been several reports on zero tolerance policy, including one from the American Psychological Association, that indicate that these policies fail to reach their goal (Sheras and Bradshaw, 2016). These reports have concluded that there should be a change in either how zero tolerance policies are applied or enact alternative policies for these offenses (Sheras and Bradshaw, 2016). The APA along with other reviews are not the only source of shift in opinion about zero tolerance policies (Sheras and Bradshaw, 2016). The United States Department of Education has even publically shown opposition against these policies recently (Sheras and Bradshaw, 2016). However, these policies are easier to rely on in the event of a school shooting, violent acts in school, or some other incident (Sheras and Bradshaw, 2016). It is easier to implement zero tolerance policies during these events because they are already in place and the guidelines are more simple to follow. The guidelines require all offenses result in expulsion or suspension, regardless of the offense or degree of the crime (Sheras and Bradshaw, 2016). Implementation of these policies also creates an environment of safety in the public s eyes, which helps increase the school s approval during the tragic event (Sheras and Bradshaw,

Yet, ClГ©o appears to be upset and restless by the fact that no one is giving her the attention she is accustomed to (Neroni 125). This is because magnesium is higher than hydrogen in the reactivity series. Therefore, when the two reactants are combined, a displacement reaction occus and the magnesium displaces the hydrogen, forming magnesium chloride and hydrogen gas. Mg (s) + 2HCl (aq) MgCl 2 (aq) + H 2 (g) Magnesium + Hydrochloric acid Magnesium Chloride + Hydrogen Aim The aim of this investigation is to observe the effect that the concentration of hydrochloric acid (independent variable) has on the rate of reaction (dependent variable) between the magnesium ribbon and the hydrochloric acid.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If there is more surface area exposed to the hydrochloric acid, the particles of acid will have a greater area of magnesium to react with and form successful collisions, thus increasing the rate of reaction. Volume of Hydrochloric Acid Used: An overall volume of 50ml of hydrochloric acid and water should be used for every trial. If a lesser volume is used, this will decrease the rate of reaction as there will be less particles in the HCl to collide with the Mg particles, which will lessen the chance for creating a successful collision, and thus lower the rate of the chemical reactions. Timing of the experiment: Bung with delivery tube should be placed on the conical flask as soon as possible after the magnesium ribbon is dropped. This will ensure that as much of the hydrogen gas gets measured in the measuring cylinder above the trough, in order to obtain accurate measurements when calculating the rate of reactions. Stopwatch will begin as soon as the magnesium is dropped into the hydrochloric acid, so that the timing of the reaction is measured accurately. Cleaning of the magnesium: The ribbon of magnesium will be cleaned with sandpaper to remove the coating on the magnesium metal caused by reactions with atmospheric gases. This needs to be done so that the measuring cylinder measures the gas produced from the reaction

  • 30. Plato s Allego Of The Cave Analysis Plato divided the world into two realms: Realm of Appearances and Realm of Ideas or Forms. He based this philosophy on two arguments. First states, that when you look at clouds, you see that the are white, then one look at the paper to write down these observations, and it s also white. But how two essentially unrelated forms are grouped together as white color. He explains that there is a perfect whiteness as a reference, and we intuitively know it. The second argument of Plato is that there is a form of the perfect circle. Anatomically we as humans are not able to draw a perfect circle; the ends will not meet at the same point, and it will be a little oblong. But the manufacturers and artist need to understand the idea of the perfectness of the circle because they will not be able to reproduce one. It was a socially constructed value that measured a person s value to their society. Namely that an individual s sense of honor was only valid if others within their community perceived them to be honorable. Honor could be achieved such as military, social, or political or ascribed, in the sense that a person was honorable because of their reputation. In the same ways, a person could just as easily be dishonorable or shamed. Furthermore, the most crucial tenets of honor in antiquity would be whether a person has died with or without honor. Based on this concept, Achillesis irrefutably more heroic than Perpetua. Bruce Dawe Metaphors Bruce Dawe s poems Katrina , A Victorian Hangman Tells His Love , Homo Suburbiensis and Enter Without So Much As Knocking depict life and death through the use of similar poetic techniques such as metaphors, imagery, onomatopoeia, tone and similes, although, with different circumstances. The events in these four poems evoke emotions within the reader, the most common being sadness and frustration. These emotions are explored, in all four poems, through the tone of melancholy. The use of the melancholic tone in Dawe s poetryenables him to explore life from his poems Homosuberbenisis and Enter Without So Much As Knocking and death through his poems Katrina and A Victorian Hangman Tells His Love . Dawe s poems Katrina and A Victorian Hangman Tells His Love explore death through the extensive use of metaphors, tone, similes and imagery. It is evident through both poems that Dawe believes the events in these poems are an injustice and he disagrees with these events; this is heard through the melancholic, sad tone that is apparent in both poems. Cannon reasons in Honey, I Warped the Kids in the Utne Reader that violence on television must be suppressed due to its effects on human behavior. This evaluation will show that though the author makes some good use of statistical findings, he leaves many holes in his argument by not thoroughly discussing opposing opinions. Cannon systematically lists the studies and opinions of others who agree with him and does not discuss opposing positions. In content, first Cannon discusses the sociological interest in the subject of television violence and mentions that the first congressional hearings took place in 1954 (95). He follows that with a list of studies that prove a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the past 22 years, says Cannon, they found, adults and children have been entertained by about sixteen violent acts, including two murders, in each evening s prime time programming (96). The statistics in the NBC study, which are touted by well meaning critics, contradict themselves. The study claims on the one hand that violence desensitizes children; on the other, that it also incites more violence. In spite of this ambivalent evidence, Cannon s research is deliberate and narrow minded in intention, using only what he needs to support his own point of view and ignoring the NBC evidence. In point of fact, it is arguable that images do not spill blood, but rather rage, desperation, and revenge, especially when they are equipped with guns. According to Todd Gitlin, there were 36,000 murders, accidents, and suicides committed by gunshots in the United States in 1992 alone (93). Honey, I Warped the Kids seems at first to be a reasonable article. While one reads this article one may be convinced, thinking that statistics alone can decide the fate of their children. However, if an opposing viewpoint had been better represented, the casual reader may not have come to the same conclusion as Cannon. Someone who disagrees with the article Honey, I Warped the Kids may find Cannon s position quite troubling. Gitlin says, It s dark out there in the

While the benefits of and motivations for choosing honesty in life are many including that truthfulness and honesty are integral to one s sense of moral integrity living a life of honesty ultimately means having little to regret. Living with honesty is less about persistently resorting to truth over deception, and is more about living your life in a way that is honest to who you are on the inside your strengths, your gifts, and your passions, as well as your beliefs and morals. In many situations it is a good idea to keep quiet or, better still, be diplomatic and tactfully handle sensitive issues. The line dividing honesty and diplomacy is a thin one. We have to be careful in deciding when to be honest and when to be at our diplomatic best. We also have to decide whether we should be absolutely candid, or use the truth as a matter of convenience. Wars are won by words not weapons. For centuries people have tried to solve their problems by negotiation. To escape conflicts and wars they have used words to persuade their opponents. That is where diplomacy begins. Diplomacy is an intellectual activity and decision making derived from ongoing analysis of current situations. Diplomacy includes the combination of ways and abilities which any state can use for its worthy existence in the world and for establishing cooperation with other members of international community. In modern day and age, one has to practice diplomacy as it is essential to get one s way in a world that is highly competitive. What you say matters a lot. Building up of personal relationships depends upon your choice of words, how you convey them to the concerned
