Theme Of Indian Camp By Ernest Hemingway
Lions, Suicide, and War; Oh My! What do a lion, a suicide, and a war have in common?
Connected or not, these three factors can influence the character s behavior whether it be in or
out of a figurative sense. These three components are also very symbolic in Ernest Hemingway s
writing, more specifically in his short stories Indian Camp , The Short Happy Life of Francis
Macomber , as well as the interchapters from In Our Time. Ernest Hemingway s portrayal of
conflict creates a violent normality in some of his stories. This is shown by the character s response
to suicide, hunting, and war.
In Indian Camp , the character Nick is a child following his father and his uncle to an Indian camp,
with good intentions, to help a woman give birth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He could be referring to the wife s screaming during the birth, his pain from his accident, or some
other unmentioned reason. The doctor s initial reaction to the harsh news was to shield his son
from death and viewing something that could make him grow in a different direction, even
though neither were prepared for what they saw. The doctor made the body clearly visible to his
son with the light. The light could symbolize Nick s veil of innocence to be removed from his life
because he had just witnessed the birth of another human being, yet also the death of another. This
removal of his veil was very abrupt and no one intended for it to happen at that moment. The death
of the Indian husband came as a shock to the characters and even though it was unintended, it still
played a major part in the tone of the birth of the Indian baby.
Francis Macomber is a man of great wealth as well as a beautifully unfaithful wife, on a hunting
expedition in Africa. On this trip, he and his partner, Wilson, are on the hunt for many different
kinds of game, such as buffalo and lion. The lion in this story causes Francis to become panicked
and doubtful as he nears the time to shoot his cat, he does everything in his power to avoid
chasing after it. However, Francis does manage to overcome his fear after shooting it twice. During
his frenzy, the lion becomes the center of attention feeling, [T]he little openings the solid bullets

The International Organic Food Market
Introduction A substantially growth of organic food industry globally has become one of the
evidence proving that people emphasize more in eating well, sanely, healthfully and even
ethically nowadays (Bittman, 2009).An estimation of US$ 47.2 billion is expected to grow in
the international organic food market within 5 years from 2010 to 2015 (Transparency Market
Research, 2014). Consumers are willing to pay more for organic, environmentally friendly or
natural products even during recession (Cummings, 2008). Demand for organic products are
gradually increase every year, thereby this report is to analyze the market of China precisely in
overall environmental aspects and outline some marketing implications the company will apply
if it exports organic products into China. The company mentioned is Country Farms SdnBhd, a
company based in Malaysia and is totally owned subsidiary of Berjaya Group Berhad (Country
Farm Organics, 2014). It was founded in 1998. The aim of the company is to promote healthier
living in fast paced world nowadays in supplying high quality organic products at affordable
price. Country Farms offer a wide range of 100% natural products, including foods, vegetables,
Milk powder, Oil, beverages, fruit juice, personal care products etc. The prices of organic products
are higher compare to conventional products in the market (Bezawada, R. Pauwels, K, 2013).
Hence, target markets of the organic product are mostly those households with middle to upper
income.

Math And Anatomy And Physiology Courses
The sheer amount of terminology and conceptual knowledge required for anatomy and physiology
can be overwhelming for students. Educational games are one approach to reinforce concepts. In
this activity, students work in teams to review anatomy and physiology concepts by creating arrays
of descriptive tiles to define a term. Once guessed, students use their spatial knowledge to locate the
structure or process within the body. The gamechallenges students to think about course
vocabulary in a different way and to pool their knowledge to get their classmates to guess the
words. Pre /post test data reveal that students achieve statistically significant learning gains after
playing the game, and a survey of student perceptions demonstrates that the game is helpful for
learning vocabulary as well as fun to play. The game is easily adaptable for a variety of courses.
Introduction
Anatomy and Physiology courses are dense with terminology. Students struggle learning the
vocabulary in addition to linking structure and function, explaining concepts, and making broader
connections. To help facilitate understanding, instructors often turn to classroom activities that
promote active learning. (Michael 2006, Lujan 2006, Jensen 2015)
Active learning strategies are diverse, but most focus on asking students to reflect on what they
know and apply it through an activity. The rise of flipped and active learning classrooms has
resulted in the development of a vast collection of tools to

Solving The Foreclosure Crisis That Devastated The Nation...
Many Americans have and still have been haunted by their pasts. Most of us have learned not to
judge others by backgrounds or past choices, but when it comes to financial credit, our pasts are
not so easily overlooked. With the slow but sure recovery of the foreclosure crisis that devastated
the nation years ago, hangs a hand of hope that offers a second chance to boomerang buyers who
merely just want to get back into home ownership. The rent to own option is the best choice for
these buyers who want a second shot to do it all over.
In its simplest terms, renting to own means that a piece of property such as a home is leased in
exchange for payment. This payment is owed either monthly or weekly depending on the owner
who places the house up for lease. Although, with this option the buyer has the chance to purchase
the house through time.
When people buy a home they have to pay extra amounts that are not covered by the actual price
of the home. These extra expenses include down payments and closing costs. With the rent to own
option buyers will only pay a security rental deposit and also have the choice of paying an option
deposit as well.
Another benefit that comes along with this option is the flexibility it provides for the buyers. The
owners whom are leasing the house to these buyers will not discredit them because of their bad past
credits. They will simply continue their agreement with the buyer if they see that payments are
being made when they are supposed to.

Hurricane Jobs Essay
Hurricane Affected Jobs Report Will Not Impact Fed Policy Conduct
The Employment Situation report for September was, as expected, influenced by the intense
hurricane activity witnessed last month. Headline non farm payrolls declined 33K in September
after increases of +169K and +138K in August and July, respectively. Unsurprisingly, the bulk of the
weakness was in hospitality leisure employment, which declined 111K. Meanwhile, the hurricane
activity did not appear to have a large and discernible impact on the household survey, from which
the unemployment rate is calculated. The civilian measure dropped to 4.2% from 4.4% in August,
largely due to a sharp rise in employment versus a decline in the participation rate. Furthermore, the

Furthermore, the hurricanes succeeded in boosting auto and light truck sales in September to 18.5
million, the highest level since September 2001. Admittedly, the requirement to replace vehicles
destroyed in the hurricanes will not be long lasting, but it comes as a welcome development in
terms of reducing an inventory overhang.
Meanwhile, strengthening activity has also been registered in the service sector: the ISM s Report
on Non Manufacturing Business also increased significantly in September. Recent readings of live
GDP forecasts for Q3, courtesy of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, have been trending upwards
over the past few weeks, the latest being +2.7%. Carrying such momentum into Q4 would,
therefore, suggest more labour market tightening, thereby further justifying an increase in the
federal funds rate in December. Crucially, both ISM Surveys indicate that price pressures have been
rising significantly over the past four months, helping to support Fed Chair Yellen s view that
weaker than expected inflation is attributable to transient forces.
Is Manufacturing Strength Sustainable?
The recovery in US manufacturing has its roots in three developments: 1) the stabilisation of oil
prices, 2) an easing of an inventory overhang that prevailed in 2015 16, and 3) a weaker dollar
exchange rate. The bulk of the impact of the post July 2014 decline in oil prices was felt via a large
decline in capital

Media Convergence And Its Impact On The Contemporary Society
Introduction
The rapid enhancement of technology in the contemporary society leads the phenomenon called
media convergence . This is a process that developing the interactive communication constantly
across multiple media platforms around the globe. Moreover, after human beings entered the twenty
first century, along with the development of digital and network technologies, media convergence
patterns have become more mature on account of three major factors technology, economic and
market (Langtry, 2012). Moreover, the technical factor mainly refers to the digital and network
technologies bring the interoperability, interchangeability and connectivity of media, so that the
media convergence has become a possible and an inevitable. However, Media convergence is not
only a simply technological shift but also alters the relationships between the existing technologies,
industries, markets, genres and audiences (Jenkins, 2004, p.33). Indeed, media convergence is an
accommodative process for the existing media, communication industries and cultures to adapt with
new technologies (Dwyer, 2010, p.2). Along with the technological development, which is
integrating the resources of different mediums, this operation of media convergence brings both
changes and challenges in the media industry (Thomas, 2011). However, advertising industry is one
of the sectors of communications and cultural industry that cannot avoid media convergence. This

The First Lady. Obama
The First Lady When I first saw Michelle Obama it was in 2007 during the election trail. I did
not really know much about her then, because I was only in the 5th grade and I was more into
dolls and Disney channel than watching politics. I would hear my mother talk about her, but
that is the most that I would know about her for a while. I started to really notice her win I
started to see her on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel when she would do her guest appearance
on some shows. I than started to hear about some of her works on fitness in America and the
obesity rates. When Nickelodeon would have their Worldwide Day of play I would see some of the
interviews that she would do. I started to hear about her food regulations that she has put through
and heard some people and students complain about. Michelle Obamais a very smart woman and
she is trying to get people to see that having good health can help them succeed. In all actuality
she is there and doing somethings that other First Ladies have not done and is which in some
ways she is a great First Lady. She is a woman to look up to for a few reasons. Michelle Obama
has been working to help people and bring awareness to mental health issues. Some people may
ask why they should listen to her. According to Barbara O Dair, Michelle Obama Has taken the
lead on ending this stigma so sufferers, including, military personnel, veterans, and their families,
can get the help they need (O Dair 36) She has met soldiers dealing

What Is The Tone In King Lear
King Lear asks his daughters which of them loves him the most. Cordelia expresses honestly to
him her answer. She tells him that she loves him, and respects him. She appreciates his fatherly
efforts to take care of them. Nevertheless she knows his game of trying to boost his ego, so she
vocalizes that her lovefor him will never be with her whole heart. She is soon to be married so half
her heart belongs to her new husband. The rest is for caring for her familywhich includes her
sisters, and her father. This passage shows that she is honest and does not reduce herself for
pleasing her father. As she speaks to her father she keeps a calm and collected attitude. She speaks
to him respectfully. Throughout the passage the author uses abstract diction to express the
emotions cordelia feels.
This passage is significant to the play because it sets up the events following. After she refuses to
enlarge her father s self esteem,he tells her to leave. She no longer stays with her father or have
contact with him. This also opens king Lear s eyes to the truth. He learns that his daughter that he
left actually loves him and tells him the truth. While the daughters that told him that they love him
with everything they have, they are the ones that betray him, and cause the ... Show more content on

The truth that comes later helps King Lear know who is loyal to him or not. It also brings light
into the darkness of all the people who are creating conflicts in the play. The passage invites
more questions of reality. The logic people give may be deceiving. The people give convincing
evidence but they can all end with heartbreaking truth. King Lear has a major character
development. He is egotistical and likes the feeling of praise and power. After he lets go of his
favorite and genuine daughter, he advances in a long journey of pain and suffering. He learns that
reality is what let go a long time ago. He leans not to take things nor

The Theme Of Where The Red Corn Grows
Where the Red Fern grows
A novel by Wilson Rawls named Where the Red Fern Grows
is the story of a boy, his two hounds (which he named Old Dan and
Little Ann), and all of the adventures they shared together. A
loving threesome, they ranged the dark hills and river bottoms of
the Cherokee country. Old Dan had the brawn, Little Ann had the
brains, and Billy had the will to train them to be the finest hunting
team in the valley. Glory and victory awaited them, but sadness
waited too. Close by was the strange and wonderful power that is
only found Where the Red Fern Grows. An exciting tale of love
and adventure one will never forget. Some themes that will be

One example shown was when Billy worked and worked for two whole years
selling accessories to fisherman. After two years he finally saved up enough money to
buy his hounds, which was an excellent reward for hard work. An additional example is
when Billy took a long, hard, and hot journey barefoot alone to Tahlequah. He faces
bullies and is afraid to turn every corner knowing something unknown will be lurking
behind the walls but in the end, he received his hounds and was very happy for what he
accomplished but for the most part he was happy that he got his hounds. Another
example explained in the novel was when Billy got his hounds and he trained the and
taught them all of the tricks he knew. After hard training his hounds (Old Dan and Little
Ann) became the finest hounds in the Ozark mountain ranges. They went hunting every
night and skinned many coons. One more example is when Little Ann got trapped in the
icy river and Billy and Old Dan worked to get Little Ann out but all of that work was
worth the life of Little Ann. Finally, after all the hard work put into his hounds, Billy s
grandfather came to him with an invitation to a coon hunting tournament. Billy was full
of zest when he knew he was going to go to a coon hunting tournament. He proved he
had the finest hounds by working hard and believing in himself and his

Physical Security Technology Selection
Introduction. Special Operations Security Solutions has developed a physical security plan at the
request of a managing business partner. This Physical Security plan was developed for the
safeguarding of information requiring protection in the interests of national security. It primarily
pertains to classified national security information, now known as classified information, but also
addresses controlled unclassified information, to include for official use only and sensitive but
unclassified. The parameters provided are as follows. * 30,000 square foot facility in a rural area *

Outdoor barriers comprise of fences, walls, vehicle barriers, and exterior doors. Barriers must
perform three functions * Define provide clear boundary markings of the area to be protected *
Delay Delay unwanted traffic, but not necessarily stop it * Direct direct traffic to proper entrances
Locks Proper locks in this facility are a necessity. Strong, solid doors are needed as well as
appropriate locking mechanisms. The most secure locks can be defeated without a equally secure
door. Under no circumstances should cylindrical locks be used as they are often the least secure.
Unit locks provide excellent security if traditional locks are to be used. Areas containing classified
materials should be reinforced with additional locking mechanisms such as deadbolts. Classified
materials must be stored in approved security containers. GSA approved security measure and
equipment; to include locks should be installed.
Lighting Considerations Lighting is an important security measure; not only does it create a
psychological deterrent to intrusion and enable detection, it also makes the business more
attractive, promotes safety and improves employee moral. Adequate lighting is an effective crime
control method. For the parking area, 1 2 Foot candles of illumination is recommended. The facility
entrance requires at least 5 foot candles of illumination, with a 1 foot candles illumination

What I Learned In Anatomy Class

I never knew how much I loved science until my love for art developed. As a child, I grew up in a

The Impact of Public Announcements on the Stock Prices
Allocating the ownership of economy s stock capital is the primary role of capital market. In an
ideal market the price would provide accurate signals for allocation of resources. Ideal market is
one in which firm s production investment decisions and investor s decision regarding securities
will depend on the assumption that the security prices fully reflect available information at any
point in time. A market in which prices always fully reflect available information is called efficient.1
Anamika Sharma (2009) conducted a study to investigate the impact of public announcement of
open offer by testing the semi strong form of efficiency to draw inferences on the efficiency of
stock market through market adjusted abnormal model. The results of the study support that stock
market is not efficient in semi strong form and that open offer created a substantial value for
shareholders of company during the study period.2
S. Basu (1997) tested for the information content of price earnings multiple. He tested to see
whether low P/E stocks outperform stocks with high P/E ratios. If historical P/E ratios provided
useful information for obtaining higher stock returns then it would be refutation of semi strong
form of efficient market hypothesis. His results indicated that low P/E portfolios provided superior
returns relative to the market and high P/E provided inferior returns relative to the market. The
results reported in this paper indicate that P/E ratio information was not fully

Weeping In St. Augustine s Confessions
Weeping is a part of the human condition, and Saint Augustine conveys this through scenes of
lamentation by Monica and himself in his book, Confessions. Although the various episodes of
weeping have similarities, they are unique because they each convey diverse ideas. Monica, Saint
Augustine s mother, weeps when he leaves the Catholic faith, conveying that praying while crying
can be powerful. She also cries when her son leaves for Rome, illustrating the struggle to balance
material and spiritual wealth. Saint Augustine weeps at the loss of his mother, which conveys the
hardships involved with the loss of loved ones. He also weeps at the death of his companion, which
illuminates his care for the material world.
These weeping scenes all convey how crying is a human sensation caused by suffering. Monica
wept for [Augustine] before [God] more than mothers weep when lamenting their dead children
once Augustine announced his lack of faith in Catholicism (Conf. 3.19). She wept because of the
lack of spiritual guidance her son was receiving from God. Monica used this mortal emotion in an
attempt to get God to listen to her and grant her prayer, which was to see her son follow
Catholicism. Monica also wept and lamented when Augustine left for Rome by deceiving her
(Conf. 3.15). She was suffering because she loved to have [Augustine] with her and Augustine left
her in Carthage. Again, this act of weeping illustrates a mortal suffering created by physical or
spiritual loss.

Ingroups, Outgroups, and Their Affects on Behaviors
Ingroups, Outgroups, and Their
Affect on Behaviors
We as humans tend to relate to those that are similar to us, and tend to alienate those that we deem
as different than us. Whether it is by race, gender, culture, or religion, it is something that is almost
always present in human interactions, and often times can be completely subconscious. In our
textbook Interpersonal Communication by Kory Floyd, an ingroup is defined as A group of people
with whom one identifies. An outgroup is conversely defined as A group of people whom one
does not identify. Henri Tajfel first coined this terminology while he was working to devise his
social identity theory. These ideas of classifying people into ingroups and outgroups can lead to

In matches between the two groups of football teams, the teams from the same state as the
umpires received more favorable decisions than the other teams did by a margin of 11% for the
171 games studied. In situations where the umpires had to allocate rewards to members of a
group they identified with competing against a group they did not identify with they clearly
favored their ingroup. This study helped proved the theory that intergroup competition is a
prevalent reason why ingroup favoritism is often exhibited in society. This idea is completely
embedded into the entire sporting culture of our society today. We group ourselves together with
the home team or the ingroup. We prefer for that group, as well as ourselves by association, to
be successful. The second explanation that is usually offered is the idea that people will have a
better opinion of people in their ingroup in order to boost their own self esteem by association.
Robert Cialdini conducted a very interesting study on a concept called Basking in Reflected Glory
(BIRG) at several different universities. In order to study how self esteem was a determinant of
ingroup bias, Cialdini and his team researched the behavior of students after victories and losses of
the school s football teams. Their results Demonstrated the BIRG phenomenon by showing a

An Analytical Model Of Contagion
cite{gai} developed an analytical model of contagion in financial networks with arbitrary structure
which distinguishes the probability of contagious default from its potential spread using statistical
techniques from the literature on complex networks citep[see][]{stro} into a financial system
setting. Their paper finds that although contagion risk is low, the effects can be extremely
widespread.
In the financial network literature, cite{alleng} provide microeconomic foundations for financial
contagion. Using a liquidity preference model in which a shock to one part of the economy can
spread to other parts and potentially lead to an economy wide financial crisis, they find evidence
connectivity and incompleteness are conductive of contagion. Similarly, cite{freix} analyse the
stability of the banking system when one bank becomes insolvent, the role of the central bank and
the effect on market discipline. They use a model of payment flows similar to cite{dd} and find that
connectedness boosts resilience of the system but the too big to fail policy has moral hazard
implications when the central bank intervenes to allow an insolvent bank to continue operating. On
the other hand, cite{bru} model contagion in the interbank deposit market, using the return on the
gambling asset as the mechanism of contagion in this network. They find greater connectivity
increases contagion risk through two channels, the first is that banks make more risky investments
given that more financial

The Holocene Period
As time passed, the Pleistocene period ended and the Holocene period began. Accompanying the
shift to Holocene was high temperatures that were as much as 2В°C (3.6В°F) higher than present

intervention, or both that large game perished with the coming of the Holocene. Lacking the rich
game hunting economy that their Pleistocene predecessors had, small bands of American Indians
focused on the killing of small game, feeding of aquaculture, and an ever increasing dependency on

The transition from forager to farmer in eastern North America consisted of the domestication of
four North American seed plants, the initial emergence of food production economies between 250
B.C. and A.D. 200, and the rapid shift to a maize centered agriculture during A.D. 800 to 1100.
Eastern North America was then identified as an independent and localized center of plant
domestication. Technological advances, including water flotation technology, scanning electron
microscopy, accelerator mass spectrometer (AMS) radiocarbon dating, and stable carbon isotope
analysis of human bone have shown that this transition to food production communities is more
complex than previously thought. Native American crop plants were first cultivated in eastern
north America between 2000 and 1000 B.C. When food production economies first emerged,
local crop plants gained significant economic importance which can be seen in the increased
representation in seed assemblages. The increased consumption of maize resulted in a shift in
food production economies and maize s domination of the fields and the diets of farming
societies between A.D. 800 and 1100. Domesticated squash from as early as 8000 B.C. had been
found; it has been suggested that this first type of squash to be domesticated is a distant relative
of today s pumpkin. Squash seeds provided the early nomadic peoples a source of protein that was
easy to store and transport, and the gourd bottle provided a transportable container to hold drinking
water. Another cultigen, with the squash, is the most ancient cultigen of the New World: the bottle
gourd. It appeared by 6500 B.C. and was suggested to have been domesticated by 6000 B.C. The
established presence of this gourd, assignable to the genus Cucurbita, confirmed eastern North
America as a secondary recipient of domesticated plants and agricultural concepts from

year 2010. The gross domestic profit (GDP) is going up every year 2013 was 1 trillion, in 2014
it was 1.063 trillion, and in 2015 it was 1.092. So every year it is going up and up so for anyone
you can see that you would be able to make money in the oil business in Nigeria if you or anyone
else for that matter could get your hands in on some of that deal you could be making a lot of
money. In my option this is not a high risk because the oil figures are not going down at all so
the money you would put in you would defiantly get back in the long run. There are many
attractions in Nigeria but I m going to give you about two or three of them. The number one
attraction in Nigeria is the Nike Art Center. The Nike Art Center is an art gallery in Lagos
owned by Nike Davies Okundaye. The gallery is arguably the largest of its kind in West Africa.
Housed in a five story s tall building, it boasts a collection of about 8,000 diverse artworks from
various Nigerian artists. A little more about the center Nike is the Managing Director/CEO of

Phantom And Twenty Thousand League Under The Sea Essay
The two books that I chose to read this summer were Phantom of the Opera and Twenty
Thousand Leagues under the Sea. In Phantom of the Opera, the main character being explored is
The Phantom, also known as, Erik. Erik was thin, had a skeleton frame, and was always dressed
in dress clothes. He made no noise and did not speak. He stalked the building like a shadow.
Mysterious events started occurring at the operahouse, such as the death of Joseph Buquet, and
Christine suddenly becoming a musical prodigy. The Phantom offered peace with the managers of
the opera house if they followed some simple commands such as leaving monthly allowances for
him. The managers ignored it because they believed this was all a hoax. More incidents occur such

Captain Nemo was a very mysterious character in the novel. He was a genius who had a passion
for the sea. He created a submarine, The Nautilus, that used technology far more advanced than
anything else of its time, in order to explore and to learn more about the oceans of the world. He
was very curious and willing to learn. In 1866, ships around the world were being attacked by an
enormous thing, faster and larger than a whale. It was larger, wider, and heavier than anything
previously recorded in the history of fish. A group of men, on a boat called the Abraham Lincoln,
set out to uncover this mystery. The ship collided with the thing and flew some men overboard,
including Conseil, Ned Land, and professor Pierre Aronnax. These men were using something to
float on in the water, and soon realized it was a submarine. Then, men with masks pulled them
aboard. They were told that they had freedom on the boat, but they were never allowed to leave.
Captain Nemo invited the men to go hunting, diving and exploring with him throughout the novel.
Then, after 10 months aboard, the men decided they needed to leave. After several failed attempts,
they managed to escape during a whirlpool. They got knocked out by a piece of iron and next

Dehumanization And How It Affects The History Of Psychology
Abstract
Despite dehumanization being an important phenomenon in social psychology, it has been
neglected by some philosophers. It has extensive ramifications for moral philosophy. Study of
dehumanization in psychological aspects is very crucial as it has implications for diverse areas as
conceptions of what is humanity, notions of racism and race, genocide and war. This paper will
analyze slavery on concepts of dehumanization and how it affected the history of psychology.
Works of various prominent figures in the history of psychology will be analyzed, and their
implications put forth. The paper will further discuss and analyze how an individual s concepts
contribute to the development of the modern psychology and how their ideas are employed in the
contemporary society.
Introduction
In the 17th century, the colonists in both North America and Caribbean regarded and treated
African slaves merely as subhuman creatures. An Anglican clergyman of that period studied the
aspects of slavery and how that influenced the African Americans. He observed that slavery had
three fundamental components of dehumanization. The main concern was the association between
the appearances of the slaves and their actual or real nature; they believed that the Africans only
resembled human beings but were not human beings. The second concern was attributed to the
dehumanized population human essence; the colonialists believed that the African lacked human
essence. Finally, the colonialists

address the steps that have been taken to help improve the health of women, nutrition, water,

The conditions that the women are giving birth in are not always safe and adequate, especially
after the earthquake. To help give the women what she needs during delivery an organization is
distributing reproductive health kits to assist [the women] and their families to deliver their
babies in the absence of medical staff to support them (Daniel, 2010, p. 102). There are many
steps that are being taken in Haiti to help improve women s health especially when it concerns
reproductive health. By educating and improving the health of the women it will with any luck
improve the health of the children in Haiti as well. By improving the women s health it will help to
decrease the cases of malnutrition in the children of Haiti as well.
Nutrition
Malnutrition is a serious health concern for people that are residing in Haiti, especially the
children. Malnutrition has a serious effect on the body, children [that] suffer from acute
malnutrition are at a great risk for severe morbidity and mortality (Roller, Gray, Previl, Forrest,
2014, p. 1094). There is no reason for these children to be suffering from malnutrition when there is

The Importance Of Wild Mustangs
The Importance of Wild Mustangs
Over four hundred years ago, wild horses or mustangs as we call them, were introduced to North
America by the Spanish. As a result, these marvelous creatures have been roaming the land of the
United States ever since, and they have become a part of our history. Mustangs have played an
active role in our history by providing a means to travel, an expansion of our country, and as a
natural beauty to see in the wild: therefore, it is crucial to protect and oversee the care of these
animals in an effective manner.
In the early 1600s, American Indian horses were initially bred from Spanish horses that the Indians
had acquired from the Spaniards most likely by raiding Spanish missions and taking the horses ...

Wild mustangs are beautiful creatures when seen in their natural habitat. Photographs, videos, and

Electronic Medical Records ( Emr ) Implementation
In recent years with huge advances in information technology and health, the initiatives of
electronic medical records (EMR) implementation has become an on going and difficult process.
The computerization of medical practice is considered to be a new standard for medicine practice.
With the promotion of EMR s, the support for the implementation is supported by the government,
people who request higher quality care, and health organizations. This review will focus on the
implementation process of EMRs within the hospital setting. It is known that the paper system has
disadvantages that concerns the utilization of patient information in a quick, accessible, and
organized manner. The implementation of a hospital wide EMR however, is a extremely complex
matter that involves a range of external skills needed to successfully implement the system
(Boonstra, 2014). A hospital can not only rely on it s internal resources or staff to carry out the
implementation of a EMR system. With concerns of quality and costs, the long term plan of an
EMR systems could save billions of dollars from faster data communication, increase d patient care
with fewer errors, and in addition to improving the quality of health care. From the articles and
studies that this review will be referring to, a similar pattern of implementation process reoccurs.
None of the articles share the same stages of the implementation process, however I have concluded

From The Moment Children Are Born They Are Instantly Assigned
From the moment children are born they are instantly assigned the gender that society considers
appropriate, this can usually be characterized by the pink or blue clothes they are given. The
immediate separation of gender emphasizes the importance of dividing gender and keeping strict
constructs in our society. So when a man or woman diverges from how they are expected to act,
they are seen as outcasts that need to be molded into what is acceptable in society s eyes. In her
book, An Introduction to Female Masculinity Judith Jack Halberstam examines the ideas and
struggles surrounding masculine women, and those who deviate from society s view of a normal

Halberstam claims that gender deviance in girls comes mostly from desiring the greater freedoms
and mobilities that boys tend to have. Through analyzing the arguments of Murnen on gender
constructs one can better understand the claims of Halberstam. Murnen asserts that the
surroundings children are in have a great effect on how they see themselves so even the toys kids
play with will influence their gender identities. The toys influence boys and girls in two different
ways. Boy s products usually encourage traits that include career orientation, leadership, aggression,
assertiveness, and independence, which are usually associated with higher status people. On the
other hand, girl s products encourage traits that include being emotional, warm, interested in
children, sensitive to others, a good listener, friendly, and attentive to appearance, which are
associated with being status neutral (Murnen). Looking back at Halberstam s claim it only makes
sense that tomboys want to escape from the belittlement of girls products and experience the
dominant traits of boys products. By combining the ideas of Halberstam and Murnen the reasons
behind why a girl wants to express masculine identity becomes slightly clearer, but they are not
completely explained.

The Great Depression By Albert Ellis
Albert Ellis was one of the most influential psychologists in American history, who lived between
September 27, 1913 and July 24, 2007. In junior high, Ellis had his sights set to become a great
novelist. His original plan was to study accounting in high school and college, retire around the
age of 30, and write without having to worry about finances. Unfortunately, the Great Depression
stopped Ellis from furthering his dream. However, he managed to finish college with a degree
in Business Administration from the City University of New York in 1934. In Ellis spare time,
he wrote short stories, plays, comics, essays, and novels. At the age of 28, he had written over
two dozen manuscripts, but he could not get them published. It was then Ellis realized that his
future did not involve being a novelist Ellis decided to start a part time private practice for sex and
family therapy after he was awarded his master s degree in 1943. By the time he was awarded a
doctorate from Columbia in 1947, Ellis truly believed that psychoanalysiswas the best form of
therapy. He quickly decided that he wanted to manage training analysis. Sadly, none of the psycho
analytic institutes would not accept anyone without M.D. s, so Ellis had some trouble finding a
group to work with. None the less, Albert found a group that agreed to work with him. In a few
years time, Ellis had successfully completed a full psychoanalysis and began to practice classical

Solon s Use Of Herodotus To Convey The Message Of Croesus
Herodotus book has, so far, contained stories that seem to emphasize the moral message of
staying humble and not taking things for granted. The stories tend to teach the lesson that if one
is too prideful or greedy, fate will intervene and ruin them. This is shown before Croesus is even
introduced. One of the first times this message can be seen is when Candaules boasts of his wife s
beauty and in turn loses his life for it.
Solon s poetry shows that he has similar values as Herodotus. In his poetry, Solon says that he
desires wealth, but that he knows that wealth held the wrong way often results in retribution. Solon
also writes about how fate is unavoidable and unpredictable, anything could happen whether it s
good or bad. Therefore, Solon is a useful character to convey the message about Croesus because
Herodotus can use a person in history whose beliefs support his own. Herodotus uses Solon to
blatantly state that having more wealth is not everything and to inform Croesus that he should be
less greedy and to think about what fate could have in store. ... Show more content on

Young Men s Interpretation of fashion According to Frith and Gleeson, men choose fashion trends
that help them to manipulate their appearances in order to meet cultural masculine ideals.
Generally, men believe that masculinity entails not caring about how they look (2004). However,
they also seem to be concerned with meeting a cultural ideal with their fashion choices. Frith and
Gleeson found that men made conscious fashion choices to either hide or emphasize certain body
parts in order to attain what they perceived as the ideal body image. In addition, it appears that men
value practicality over aesthetic (Frith Gleeson, 2004). Similarly, Galilee discovered that despite the
theory of the masculinization of consumption (the idea that in recent years, men are increasingly
being viewed as consumers), young men viewed an interest in fashion and consumption as lacking
masculinity (2002). Galilee found that young men are unlikely to admit an interest in fashion
magazines because they viewed an interest in fashion as not masculine. Nonetheless, young men
appeared to utilize fashion to highlight their individuality as well as their collective identity with
their peers (2002). The results from his interviews suggest that young men often admit to

The Blind Obedience And Authority
Blind Obedience to Authority
Millions of people were killed in Nazi Germany in concentration camps however, Hitler wouldn t
have been able to kill them all, nor could just a handful of people. Obedience is when society
influences where/ when an individual acts in response to a direct order from another individual,
who is usually the authority figure. It is assumed that without such an order the person would not
have acted in this way. In order to obey authority, the obeying person has to accept that it is
legitimate for the command to be made of them. Obedience involves a hierarchy of status.
Therefore, the person giving the order has a higher status than the person receiving the order.
Adolf Eichmann was executed in 1962 for his part in organizing the Holocaust, in which six million
Jewish people, as well as gypsies, communists and trade unionists were transported to death camps
and murdered in Nazi Germany and surrounding countries under Nazi control. Eichmann took
part in the planning of the collection, transportation and extermination of those to be killed
(Saul McLeod, 2007). At his trial in 1961, Eichmann expressed surprise at being hated by Jewish
people, saying that he had merely obeyed orders, and surely obeying orders could only be a
good thing (Saul McLeod, 2007). According to McLeod, Eichmann was declared sane by six

Conducting A Norm Experiment
In today s society, norms are expected by everyone. According to the book Essentials of
Sociology a Down To Earth Approach, Hansen states that norms are expectations of right behavior
(Hansen, 2014). There are also two forms of norms that may be strictly enforced or not. There is
folkways and mores. Folkwaysare norms that aren t strictly enforced while mores are strictly
enforced for essential thought to care values or the well being of a group (Hansen, 2014). Along
with a norm and the two types, there may also be reactions to it. These reactions may be positive
or negative and termed as sanctions. Sanctions are either expressions of an approval given to
people for upholding norms or expression of disapproval for violating them (Hansen, 2014). In
conducting a norm experiment, the terms were put to a test. The experiment consisted of an
observed norm violation and an individual norm violation. The experiments resulted in what I had

The day started off slow. Me and my homies Spooky and Aloud was chilling in class when my boy

The Similiarities between Christianity and Judaism Rituals
The Similarities Between Christianity and Judaism Rituals
Out of all the religions in the world Christianity and Judaism in my opinion have the most similar
rites and rituals. They also share many beliefs and flow many of the same rules. Even though some
of the rituals might seem like they are completely different, when you look deeply and find the true
meaning, you will see that most of the time they share the same message. But even with all of these
similarities its the differences that make them unique and these differences are what splits them
apart. The three main similarities in both Christianity and Judaism is the first step into adult hood,
the last step into adult hood and the Shabbat and the Sabbath.
In christianity the first step into adult hood is baptism. A baptism usually happened when you
are still a baby. The purpose of a baptism is to purify and surrender yourself to god. But this ritual
doesn t always happen at birth. Some parents will wait until there son or daughter is older so they
can make this decision for them selfs. Judaism has something that is a little unorthodox its called
circumcision. Circumcision is a process where they cut off a section of the foreskin. This also
usually happens when you are a baby. Genies 17 in the Tanakh has a section where they talk about

Challenges Of Returning To Military Life
As an adult returning to school, I was, and still continue to be, faced with many challenges,
fears, and obstacles. I decided to go back to school for not only myself but for my family as well.
I got sick of living paycheck to paycheck barely making ends meet, as we lived on one income.
My husband provided the best that he could, and I am grateful for that. Not being able to provide
for my family was very frustrating, due to the medical conditions that I endured while being in the
military. As a result of my medical conditions, I was limited on how much I could contribute to my
family, which caused a major strain on my marriage and financial status. My sons are the age now
to where I don t want them to see their mother struggling. It hurts

to clients on a global basis. Andersen had at that time over 15,000 IT consultants dedicated to help

Choose 2 scenes in Twelfth Night and state how you would direct them.
Discuss some of the challenges you might face in directing the play to a modern audience.
Being one of Shakespeare s best romantic comedies, Twelfth Night has been re enacted many a
times, be it during Elizabethan times, or in modern times. Although set in the Elizabethan era,
Twelfth Night has its charms. And indeed, it proves to be relevant and intimate to a modern
audience, with its applicable themes and endearing characters.
In directing a play of such mannerism, one would have to consider many factors affecting the
overall effect of the play, and how it brings forth its true... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, here, Maria starts to plot against Malvolio, and together this group of friends gang up
against Malvolio, getting back at him for his rudeness towards them. In this scene, it is meant to
be light hearted and retain its essence of comedy and humour, so as to serve as a contrasting scene
to the previous (which was more serious). Hence, this scene should bring forth and emphasize on
the humour, and at the same time, portray a sense of revenge (a serious matter).
Overall, the setting of this scene would be in Olivia s house. In this scene, I would have one small
part of the stage (left to the audience) to be seen as the outside of Olivia s house, and most of the
other part of the stage (right to the audience), the inside of Olivia s house. On the outside, there
would be a small pathway up to Olivia s backdoor. The pathway would be decorated with
extravagance, for instance, roses. Roses symbolises a beautiful outer appearance, but in actual fact,
has thorns, which threaten at the same while (hidden intentions). There should be a simple plant,
with morning glory creeping up. Morning glory represents beauty that only lasts for an instance. All
these run concurrently with Olivia s personality, and how she is wasting her youth, firstly
mourning, and secondly, wooing
Cesario (in actual fact, a female). Through the backdoor, Sir Toby and Sir Andrew enter into one

Cup Mass Synthesis Essay
The table above displayed the data we figured out concerning the mass of each substance. First, we
weighed the cup alone that contained the unknown substance. It weighed 3.5 g. Then, weighed the
cup with the unknown substance. It weighed 32.5 g. The final mass was determined by subtracting
the cup mass (3.5 g) from the cup masswith the unknown substance (32.5 g). I figured out the
final mass was 29 g. Next, we weighed the cup alone that contained the aluminum. It weighed 3.5
g. Then, weighed the cup with the aluminum. It weighed 17 g. The final mass was determined by
subtracting the cup mass (3.5 g) from the cup mass with the aluminum (17 g). I figured out the
final mass was 13.5 g. After that, we weighed the cup alone that contained zinc. It weighed 3.5 g.
Then, weighed the cup with the zinc. It weighed 19.7 g. The final mass was determined by
subtracting the cup mass (3.5 g) from the cup mass with the zinc (19.7 g). I figured out the final...

Catholic Church In The Canterbury Tales
Honestly, how corrupt is the Catholic Church? What are they trying to hide? These are just some of
the questions Geoffrey Chaucer undoubtedly asked himself while writing the Canterbury Tales .
Unphased by the option of the Catholic Church he set about to write a story in which voiced his
unadulterated opinion. The Canterbury Talesbegins as a pilgrimage decides to visit the relics of
Thomas Becket in CanterburyCathedral.
On this pilgrimage are numerous members of the Catholic Church. As a group, the pilgrimage
decides to hold a competition to help pass the time. The rules of the competition were simple, each
pilgrim will tell two stories on the way to Canterbury Cathedral and another two on the way back.

Essay about NAT TURNER
Nat Turner
Early in the morning of August 22,1831, a band of black slaves, led by a lay preacher named
Nat Turner, entered the Travis house in Southampton County, Virginia and killed five members of
the Travis family. This was the beginning of a slave uprising that was to become known as Nat
Turner s rebellion. Over a thirty six hour period, this band of slaves grew sixty or seventy in
number and slew fifty eight white persons in and around Jerusalem, Virginia (seventy miles east of
Richmond) before the local community could act to stop them. This rebellion raised southern fears
of a general slave uprising and had a profound influence on the attitude of Southerners towards
slavery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first report of the Turner revolt was sent in form of a letter from the Postmaster of Jerusalem to
the Governor of Virginia. This letter as sent by way of Petersburg and was first published in the
Richmond Constitutional Whig of August 23,1831.
This group of 40 blacks, led by Nat Tuner , terrorized the white population of Southampton County,
Virginia and killed 60 whites before the Virginia Militia and local residents killed of captured the
insurgents. Even though the rebellion was over on August 23, the leader of the blacks, Nat Turner
escaped capture by the militia.
On August 24, militia units from the surrounding counties descended on Jerusalem, Virginia and a
massacre of blacks in Southampton began. Much of this torture and killing of blacks was done by
outrageous groups of white men , bent on revenge. Hundreds of blacks were killed, most of whom
were totally innocent of any involvement on total clue of Turner s rebellion.
On October 31, Benjamin Phipps, a local farmer, spotted Nat Turner at gun point hiding behind a
bush. Tuner was then later placed in jail where he confessed. On November 5, Turner was
convicted if insurrection and sentenced to hang and on November 11 the sentence was carried out.
His corpse was used for scientific study.
Nat Tuner s Rebellion was significant in pointing out to Northerners that slavery was a problem.
The Northerners then

The 2010s
The financial crisis in 2008, having resulted from a tremendous bubble in the real estate market as
well as highly leveraged banks and governments, has now become a debt crisis and is still an
important in political discussions worldwide. Numerous employees have lost their jobs, many
companies went bankrupt; nevertheless, there seemed to be one country that stroke off all
difficulties and continued growing at an outstanding rate. In 2009 China s GDP grew by 9%
(www.cia.gov), while all other economies faced severe recessions. For many economists, China is
an example for superior economic growth despite state controlled industries and only limited
opening of the market. But recently the number of critics has been increasing and there is much...

In the case of South Korea it did when major corporations began to file bankruptcy and its result
was a 34% fall in GNP within one year (www.wikipedia.com). If China will continue its path of
subsidizing state owned companies and shutting out foreign competition it could soon face equally
severe problems.
Another argument supporting the theory that a Chinese economic crisis is inevitable is the
enormous number of investments China has made in recent years. Currently China s investment to
GDP ratio accounts for 46%, which is extraordinarily high, even for Asian standards
(www.business.time.com) Often the Chinese government utilized huge amounts of public and
private money for economically inefficient projects, such as the high speed railway linking
Shanghai to Suzhou and Nanjing, which the average Shanghai citizen cannot even afford a ticket
for. Additional investments benefitted the real estate development, which is the key driving factor
of China s economic growth. Chinese megacities face an enormous shortage of affordable housing
for the average citizens; meanwhile numerous high end apartments for the wealthy upper class are
built. An additional problem with China s enormous amount of investments is its financing. The
bank credit in 2011 was estimated to be 185% of the GDP, which accounted for approximately $1,7
trillion that the banks owed the government. Recent requests from local governments for the banks
to roll over the loans (www.ft.com) show

  • 3. Theme Of Indian Camp By Ernest Hemingway Lions, Suicide, and War; Oh My! What do a lion, a suicide, and a war have in common? Connected or not, these three factors can influence the character s behavior whether it be in or out of a figurative sense. These three components are also very symbolic in Ernest Hemingway s writing, more specifically in his short stories Indian Camp , The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber , as well as the interchapters from In Our Time. Ernest Hemingway s portrayal of conflict creates a violent normality in some of his stories. This is shown by the character s response to suicide, hunting, and war. In Indian Camp , the character Nick is a child following his father and his uncle to an Indian camp, with good intentions, to help a woman give birth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He could be referring to the wife s screaming during the birth, his pain from his accident, or some other unmentioned reason. The doctor s initial reaction to the harsh news was to shield his son from death and viewing something that could make him grow in a different direction, even though neither were prepared for what they saw. The doctor made the body clearly visible to his son with the light. The light could symbolize Nick s veil of innocence to be removed from his life because he had just witnessed the birth of another human being, yet also the death of another. This removal of his veil was very abrupt and no one intended for it to happen at that moment. The death of the Indian husband came as a shock to the characters and even though it was unintended, it still played a major part in the tone of the birth of the Indian baby. Francis Macomber is a man of great wealth as well as a beautifully unfaithful wife, on a hunting expedition in Africa. On this trip, he and his partner, Wilson, are on the hunt for many different kinds of game, such as buffalo and lion. The lion in this story causes Francis to become panicked and doubtful as he nears the time to shoot his cat, he does everything in his power to avoid chasing after it. • 5. Math And Anatomy And Physiology Courses The sheer amount of terminology and conceptual knowledge required for anatomy and physiology can be overwhelming for students. Educational games are one approach to reinforce concepts. In this activity, students work in teams to review anatomy and physiology concepts by creating arrays of descriptive tiles to define a term. Once guessed, students use their spatial knowledge to locate the structure or process within the body. The gamechallenges students to think about course vocabulary in a different way and to pool their knowledge to get their classmates to guess the words. Pre /post test data reveal that students achieve statistically significant learning gains after playing the game, and a survey of student perceptions demonstrates that the game is helpful for learning vocabulary as well as fun to play. The game is easily adaptable for a variety of courses. Introduction Anatomy and Physiology courses are dense with terminology. Students struggle learning the vocabulary in addition to linking structure and function, explaining concepts, and making broader connections. To help facilitate understanding, instructors often turn to classroom activities that promote active learning. (Michael 2006, Lujan 2006, Jensen 2015) Active learning strategies are diverse, but most focus on asking students to reflect on what they know and apply it through an activity. The rise of flipped and active learning classrooms has resulted in the development of a vast collection of tools to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Solving The Foreclosure Crisis That Devastated The Nation... Many Americans have and still have been haunted by their pasts. Most of us have learned not to judge others by backgrounds or past choices, but when it comes to financial credit, our pasts are not so easily overlooked. With the slow but sure recovery of the foreclosure crisis that devastated the nation years ago, hangs a hand of hope that offers a second chance to boomerang buyers who merely just want to get back into home ownership. The rent to own option is the best choice for these buyers who want a second shot to do it all over. In its simplest terms, renting to own means that a piece of property such as a home is leased in exchange for payment. This payment is owed either monthly or weekly depending on the owner who places the house up for lease. Although, with this option the buyer has the chance to purchase the house through time. When people buy a home they have to pay extra amounts that are not covered by the actual price of the home. These extra expenses include down payments and closing costs. With the rent to own option buyers will only pay a security rental deposit and also have the choice of paying an option deposit as well. Another benefit that comes along with this option is the flexibility it provides for the buyers. The owners whom are leasing the house to these buyers will not discredit them because of their bad past credits. They will simply continue their agreement with the buyer if they see that payments are being made when they are supposed to. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Hurricane Jobs Essay Hurricane Affected Jobs Report Will Not Impact Fed Policy Conduct The Employment Situation report for September was, as expected, influenced by the intense hurricane activity witnessed last month. Headline non farm payrolls declined 33K in September after increases of +169K and +138K in August and July, respectively. Unsurprisingly, the bulk of the weakness was in hospitality leisure employment, which declined 111K. Meanwhile, the hurricane activity did not appear to have a large and discernible impact on the household survey, from which the unemployment rate is calculated. The civilian measure dropped to 4.2% from 4.4% in August, largely due to a sharp rise in employment versus a decline in the participation rate. Furthermore, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, the hurricanes succeeded in boosting auto and light truck sales in September to 18.5 million, the highest level since September 2001. Admittedly, the requirement to replace vehicles destroyed in the hurricanes will not be long lasting, but it comes as a welcome development in terms of reducing an inventory overhang. Meanwhile, strengthening activity has also been registered in the service sector: the ISM s Report on Non Manufacturing Business also increased significantly in September. Recent readings of live GDP forecasts for Q3, courtesy of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, have been trending upwards over the past few weeks, the latest being +2.7%. Carrying such momentum into Q4 would, therefore, suggest more labour market tightening, thereby further justifying an increase in the federal funds rate in December. Crucially, both ISM Surveys indicate that price pressures have been rising significantly over the past four months, helping to support Fed Chair Yellen s view that weaker than expected inflation is attributable to transient forces. Is Manufacturing Strength Sustainable? The recovery in US manufacturing has its roots in three developments: 1) the stabilisation of oil prices, 2) an easing of an inventory overhang that prevailed in 2015 16, and 3) a weaker dollar exchange rate. The bulk of the impact of the post July 2014 decline in oil prices was felt via a large decline in capital ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Media Convergence And Its Impact On The Contemporary Society Introduction The rapid enhancement of technology in the contemporary society leads the phenomenon called media convergence . This is a process that developing the interactive communication constantly across multiple media platforms around the globe. Moreover, after human beings entered the twenty first century, along with the development of digital and network technologies, media convergence patterns have become more mature on account of three major factors technology, economic and market (Langtry, 2012). Moreover, the technical factor mainly refers to the digital and network technologies bring the interoperability, interchangeability and connectivity of media, so that the media convergence has become a possible and an inevitable. However, Media convergence is not only a simply technological shift but also alters the relationships between the existing technologies, industries, markets, genres and audiences (Jenkins, 2004, p.33). Indeed, media convergence is an accommodative process for the existing media, communication industries and cultures to adapt with new technologies (Dwyer, 2010, p.2). Along with the technological development, which is integrating the resources of different mediums, this operation of media convergence brings both changes and challenges in the media industry (Thomas, 2011). However, advertising industry is one of the sectors of communications and cultural industry that cannot avoid media convergence. This literature review paper will analyze ... Throughout the passage the author uses abstract diction to express the emotions cordelia feels. This passage is significant to the play because it sets up the events following. In an ideal market the price would provide accurate signals for allocation of resources. Ideal market is one in which firm s production investment decisions and investor s decision regarding securities will depend on the assumption that the security prices fully reflect available information at any point in time. A market in which prices always fully reflect available information is called efficient.1 Anamika Sharma (2009) conducted a study to investigate the impact of public announcement of open offer by testing the semi strong form of efficiency to draw inferences on the efficiency of stock market through market adjusted abnormal model. The results of the study support that stock market is not efficient in semi strong form and that open offer created a substantial value for shareholders of company during the study period.2 S. Basu (1997) tested for the information content of price earnings multiple. He tested to see whether low P/E stocks outperform stocks with high P/E ratios. If historical P/E ratios provided useful information for obtaining higher stock returns then it would be refutation of semi strong form of efficient market hypothesis. • 17. Weeping In St. Augustine s Confessions Weeping is a part of the human condition, and Saint Augustine conveys this through scenes of lamentation by Monica and himself in his book, Confessions. Although the various episodes of weeping have similarities, they are unique because they each convey diverse ideas. Monica, Saint Augustine s mother, weeps when he leaves the Catholic faith, conveying that praying while crying can be powerful. She also cries when her son leaves for Rome, illustrating the struggle to balance material and spiritual wealth. Saint Augustine weeps at the loss of his mother, which conveys the hardships involved with the loss of loved ones. He also weeps at the death of his companion, which illuminates his care for the material world. These weeping scenes all convey how crying is a human sensation caused by suffering. Monica wept for [Augustine] before [God] more than mothers weep when lamenting their dead children once Augustine announced his lack of faith in Catholicism (Conf. 3.19). She wept because of the lack of spiritual guidance her son was receiving from God. Monica used this mortal emotion in an attempt to get God to listen to her and grant her prayer, which was to see her son follow Catholicism. Monica also wept and lamented when Augustine left for Rome by deceiving her (Conf. 3.15). She was suffering because she loved to have [Augustine] with her and Augustine left her in Carthage. Again, this act of weeping illustrates a mortal suffering created by physical or spiritual loss. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ingroups, Outgroups, and Their Affects on Behaviors Ingroups, Outgroups, and Their Affect on Behaviors We as humans tend to relate to those that are similar to us, and tend to alienate those that we deem as different than us. Whether it is by race, gender, culture, or religion, it is something that is almost always present in human interactions, and often times can be completely subconscious. In our textbook Interpersonal Communication by Kory Floyd, an ingroup is defined as A group of people with whom one identifies. An outgroup is conversely defined as A group of people whom one does not identify. Henri Tajfel first coined this terminology while he was working to devise his social identity theory. In matches between the two groups of football teams, the teams from the same state as the umpires received more favorable decisions than the other teams did by a margin of 11% for the 171 games studied. In situations where the umpires had to allocate rewards to members of a group they identified with competing against a group they did not identify with they clearly favored their ingroup. This study helped proved the theory that intergroup competition is a prevalent reason why ingroup favoritism is often exhibited in society. This idea is completely embedded into the entire sporting culture of our society today. We group ourselves together with the home team or the ingroup. We prefer for that group, as well as ourselves by association, to be successful. The second explanation that is usually offered is the idea that people will have a better opinion of people in their ingroup in order to boost their own self esteem by association. Robert Cialdini conducted a very interesting study on a concept called Basking in Reflected Glory (BIRG) at several different universities. In order to study how self esteem was a determinant of ingroup bias, Cialdini and his team researched the behavior of students after victories and losses of the school s football teams. Their results Demonstrated the BIRG phenomenon by showing a greater tendency for university students to wear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Analytical Model Of Contagion cite{gai} developed an analytical model of contagion in financial networks with arbitrary structure which distinguishes the probability of contagious default from its potential spread using statistical techniques from the literature on complex networks citep[see][]{stro} into a financial system setting. Their paper finds that although contagion risk is low, the effects can be extremely widespread. In the financial network literature, cite{alleng} provide microeconomic foundations for financial contagion. Using a liquidity preference model in which a shock to one part of the economy can spread to other parts and potentially lead to an economy wide financial crisis, they find evidence connectivity and incompleteness are conductive of contagion. Similarly, cite{freix} analyse the stability of the banking system when one bank becomes insolvent, the role of the central bank and the effect on market discipline. They use a model of payment flows similar to cite{dd} and find that connectedness boosts resilience of the system but the too big to fail policy has moral hazard implications when the central bank intervenes to allow an insolvent bank to continue operating. On the other hand, cite{bru} model contagion in the interbank deposit market, using the return on the gambling asset as the mechanism of contagion in this network. They find greater connectivity increases contagion risk through two channels, the first is that banks make more risky investments given that more financial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Technological advances, including water flotation technology, scanning electron microscopy, accelerator mass spectrometer (AMS) radiocarbon dating, and stable carbon isotope analysis of human bone have shown that this transition to food production communities is more complex than previously thought. Native American crop plants were first cultivated in eastern north America between 2000 and 1000 B.C. When food production economies first emerged, local crop plants gained significant economic importance which can be seen in the increased representation in seed assemblages. The increased consumption of maize resulted in a shift in food production economies and maize s domination of the fields and the diets of farming societies between A.D. 800 and 1100. Domesticated squash from as early as 8000 B.C. had been found; it has been suggested that this first type of squash to be domesticated is a distant relative of today s pumpkin. Squash seeds provided the early nomadic peoples a source of protein that was easy to store and transport, and the gourd bottle provided a transportable container to hold drinking water. Another cultigen, with the squash, is the most ancient cultigen of the New World: the bottle gourd. It appeared by 6500 B.C. and was suggested to have been domesticated by 6000 B.C. The established presence of this gourd, assignable to the genus Cucurbita, confirmed eastern North America as a secondary recipient of domesticated plants and agricultural concepts from ... Oil has been a dominant source of income and government revenues since the 1970s. The gross domestic profit (GDP) is going up every year 2013 was 1 trillion, in 2014 it was 1.063 trillion, and in 2015 it was 1.092. He made no noise and did not speak. He stalked the building like a shadow. Mysterious events started occurring at the operahouse, such as the death of Joseph Buquet, and Christine suddenly becoming a musical prodigy. He was very curious and willing to learn. In 1866, ships around the world were being attacked by an enormous thing, faster and larger than a whale. The ship collided with the thing and flew some men overboard, including Conseil, Ned Land, and professor Pierre Aronnax. These men were using something to float on in the water, and soon realized it was a submarine. Then, men with masks pulled them aboard. It has extensive ramifications for moral philosophy. Study of dehumanization in psychological aspects is very crucial as it has implications for diverse areas as conceptions of what is humanity, notions of racism and race, genocide and war. The paper will further discuss and analyze how an individual s concepts contribute to the development of the modern psychology and how their ideas are employed in the contemporary society. Introduction In the 17th century, the colonists in both North America and Caribbean regarded and treated African slaves merely as subhuman creatures. An Anglican clergyman of that period studied the aspects of slavery and how that influenced the African Americans. He observed that slavery had three fundamental components of dehumanization. The main concern was the association between the appearances of the slaves and their actual or real nature; they believed that the Africans only resembled human beings but were not human beings. The second concern was attributed to the dehumanized population human essence; the colonialists believed that the African lacked human essence. Finally, the colonialists ... On the other hand, girl s products encourage traits that include being emotional, warm, interested in children, sensitive to others, a good listener, friendly, and attentive to appearance, which are associated with being status neutral (Murnen). Solon s Use Of Herodotus To Convey The Message Of Croesus Herodotus book has, so far, contained stories that seem to emphasize the moral message of staying humble and not taking things for granted. The stories tend to teach the lesson that if one is too prideful or greedy, fate will intervene and ruin them. This is shown before Croesus is even introduced. One of the first times this message can be seen is when Candaules boasts of his wife s beauty and in turn loses his life for it. Solon s poetry shows that he has similar values as Herodotus. In his poetry, Solon says that he desires wealth, but that he knows that wealth held the wrong way often results in retribution. Solon also writes about how fate is unavoidable and unpredictable, anything could happen whether it s good or bad. Therefore, Solon is a useful character to convey the message about Croesus because Herodotus can use a person in history whose beliefs support his own. Young Men s Interpretation of fashion According to Frith and Gleeson, men choose fashion trends that help them to manipulate their appearances in order to meet cultural masculine ideals. Generally, men believe that masculinity entails not caring about how they look (2004). However, they also seem to be concerned with meeting a cultural ideal with their fashion choices. Frith and Gleeson found that men made conscious fashion choices to either hide or emphasize certain body parts in order to attain what they perceived as the ideal body image. In addition, it appears that men value practicality over aesthetic (Frith Gleeson, 2004). Similarly, Galilee discovered that despite the theory of the masculinization of consumption (the idea that in recent years, men are increasingly being viewed as consumers), young men viewed an interest in fashion and consumption as lacking masculinity (2002). This again angered me and the hood, but there was nothing we could do besides go home. One of our cars had split up from us and took a different route to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Similiarities between Christianity and Judaism Rituals The Similarities Between Christianity and Judaism Rituals Out of all the religions in the world Christianity and Judaism in my opinion have the most similar rites and rituals. They also share many beliefs and flow many of the same rules. Even though some of the rituals might seem like they are completely different, when you look deeply and find the true meaning, you will see that most of the time they share the same message. But even with all of these similarities its the differences that make them unique and these differences are what splits them apart. The three main similarities in both Christianity and Judaism is the first step into adult hood, the last step into adult hood and the Shabbat and the Sabbath. In christianity the first step into adult hood is baptism. A baptism usually happened when you are still a baby. The purpose of a baptism is to purify and surrender yourself to god. But this ritual doesn t always happen at birth. Some parents will wait until there son or daughter is older so they can make this decision for them selfs. Judaism has something that is a little unorthodox its called circumcision. Circumcision is a process where they cut off a section of the foreskin. This also usually happens when you are a baby. Genies 17 in the Tanakh has a section where they talk about circumcision. But not all jewish people practice this ritual. It depends on which branch you are. In Christianity one of the most important rituals is called conformation. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I decided to go back to school for not only myself but for my family as well. I got sick of living paycheck to paycheck barely making ends meet, as we lived on one income. My husband provided the best that he could, and I am grateful for that. Not being able to provide for my family was very frustrating, due to the medical conditions that I endured while being in the military. As a result of my medical conditions, I was limited on how much I could contribute to my family, which caused a major strain on my marriage and financial status. Choose 2 scenes in Twelfth Night and state how you would direct them Choose 2 scenes in Twelfth Night and state how you would direct them. Discuss some of the challenges you might face in directing the play to a modern audience. Being one of Shakespeare s best romantic comedies, Twelfth Night has been re enacted many a times, be it during Elizabethan times, or in modern times. Although set in the Elizabethan era, Twelfth Night has its charms. And indeed, it proves to be relevant and intimate to a modern audience, with its applicable themes and endearing characters. In directing a play of such mannerism, one would have to consider many factors affecting the overall effect of the play, and how it brings forth its true... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, here, Maria starts to plot against Malvolio, and together this group of friends gang up against Malvolio, getting back at him for his rudeness towards them. In this scene, it is meant to be light hearted and retain its essence of comedy and humour, so as to serve as a contrasting scene to the previous (which was more serious). Hence, this scene should bring forth and emphasize on the humour, and at the same time, portray a sense of revenge (a serious matter). Overall, the setting of this scene would be in Olivia s house. In this scene, I would have one small part of the stage (left to the audience) to be seen as the outside of Olivia s house, and most of the other part of the stage (right to the audience), the inside of Olivia s house. On the outside, there would be a small pathway up to Olivia s backdoor. The pathway would be decorated with extravagance, for instance, roses. Roses symbolises a beautiful outer appearance, but in actual fact, has thorns, which threaten at the same while (hidden intentions). There should be a simple plant, with morning glory creeping up. Morning glory represents beauty that only lasts for an instance. All these run concurrently with Olivia s personality, and how she is wasting her youth, firstly mourning, and secondly, wooing Cesario (in actual fact, a female). Through the backdoor, Sir Toby and Sir Andrew enter into one the rooms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay about NAT TURNER Nat Turner Early in the morning of August 22,1831, a band of black slaves, led by a lay preacher named Nat Turner, entered the Travis house in Southampton County, Virginia and killed five members of the Travis family. This was the beginning of a slave uprising that was to become known as Nat Turner s rebellion. Over a thirty six hour period, this band of slaves grew sixty or seventy in number and slew fifty eight white persons in and around Jerusalem, Virginia (seventy miles east of Richmond) before the local community could act to stop them. This rebellion raised southern fears of a general slave uprising and had a profound influence on the attitude of Southerners towards slavery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 2010s The financial crisis in 2008, having resulted from a tremendous bubble in the real estate market as well as highly leveraged banks and governments, has now become a debt crisis and is still an important in political discussions worldwide. Numerous employees have lost their jobs, many companies went bankrupt; nevertheless, there seemed to be one country that stroke off all difficulties and continued growing at an outstanding rate. In 2009 China s GDP grew by 9% (www.cia.gov), while all other economies faced severe recessions. For many economists, China is an example for superior economic growth despite state controlled industries and only limited opening of the market. In the case of South Korea it did when major corporations began to file bankruptcy and its result was a 34% fall in GNP within one year (www.wikipedia.com). If China will continue its path of subsidizing state owned companies and shutting out foreign competition it could soon face equally severe problems. Another argument supporting the theory that a Chinese economic crisis is inevitable is the enormous number of investments China has made in recent years. Currently China s investment to GDP ratio accounts for 46%, which is extraordinarily high, even for Asian standards (www.business.time.com) Often the Chinese government utilized huge amounts of public and private money for economically inefficient projects, such as the high speed railway linking Shanghai to Suzhou and Nanjing, which the average Shanghai citizen cannot even afford a ticket for. Additional investments benefitted the real estate development, which is the key driving factor of China s economic growth. Chinese megacities face an enormous shortage of affordable housing for the average citizens; meanwhile numerous high end apartments for the wealthy upper class are built. An additional problem with China s enormous amount of investments is its financing. The bank credit in 2011 was estimated to be 185% of the GDP, which accounted for approximately $1,7 trillion that the banks owed the government.
