Immanuel Kant, Rudolf Carnap And Mary Leng
Knowledge about such objects as numbers and shapes has been debated by scholars including
Immanuel Kant, Rudolf Carnap and Mary Leng. The ability to attain knowledge of something s
existence encompasses philosophical ideas from a priori and a posteriori truths to ideas about
universalism. Abstract ideas with concrete uses, such as shapes and numbers, are effective vehicles
for such a discussion. I believe that mathematical objects exist as a priori truths and because they
follow an axiomatic truththeory. The truth theory applied however, is unique to the metaphysical
object being discussed.
According to Kant (1788), all knowledge that states fact is either a priori (exists by definition) or a
posteriori (knowable by experience) and is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A statement such as 3+4=7 is considered a mathematical truth, as if the mathematical objects 3, 4
and 7 exist and facts can be made about them. (Note that nominalists would not agree that numbers
exist in this sense however, as nominalist theories are often motivated by empiricist standpoints,
which find no place for the existence of non spatiotemporal objects.) A potential problem with
this is that one finds that mathematics has a hierarchy of abstraction, resulting in a plethora of
more conceptual mathematical objects that become difficult to engage with. A given fact such
as Fermat s Last Theorem: No three positive integers a, b, and c can satisfy the equation a^n +
b^n = c^n for any integer value of n greater than two which requires 150 pages to prove and
consumed 7 years of Andrew Wiles life to do so. The concepts that unfold from such a proof can
be known because they are derived from the axioms of mathematics in logic , which was first fully
established in logicism in 1884 by Gottlob Frege (see Thinking About Mathematics by Stewart
Shapiro (2000), p.107 115). In this sense, all mathematical facts are justified, therefore knowledge
of them is possible. Mathematical objects exist therefore because of how coherent and well defined
it is. It doesn t make sense to say we know about something that doesn t exist. So mathematics must
exist in

Is Hamlet Grieving For His Father s Death In Hamlet Analysis
When analyzing Hamlet under a psychological lens, one can speculate on why exactly Hamlet is
so fixated on the death of his father. Is the cause a heartfelt relationship between Hamlet and King
Hamlet? Or is Hamlet displacing the real motive for his grief? It is possible that Hamlet is not
grieving for his father s death after all, but subconsciously grieving for something else. Due to the
death of King Hamlet, Hamlet would have inherited the kingdom if it wasn t for the existence of
Claudius, who took over the throne instead. Perhaps Hamlet is grieving the loss of this position to
his uncle. The context of the Oedipal complex can be applied to this scenario, as Hamlet would be
taking the position of Gertrudes husband, which according to Freud, satisfies the subconscious
desire universally present in all humans of wanting to have sex with the parent of the opposite
gender. Since this idea is unacceptable and dangerous to Hamlet, he subconsciously transfers his
mourning for the loss of his position as Gertrude s husband to mourning for the loss of his father in
an act of displacement.
Evidence for the Oedipal complex can be found in Hamlet s anger at Gertrude for so quickly
remarrying to Claudius and not showing proper grief towards her former husband, King Hamlet.
In act 3 scene 4, Hamlet rebukes Gertrude for a deed ...as bad, good mother, / As kill a king and
marry his brother (lines 29 30). In this scene, Hamlet claims that Gertrude was King Hamlet s
killer, which is contradictory to what the King Hamlet s Ghost had stated: that Claudius had killed
him. To explain this logical inconsistency, the psychoanalytic element of condensation must be
understood, as according to Freud, condensation and displacement are closely related. Condensation
is the representation of multiple emotions in a single idea. Several meanings are condensed into one
image.
An example of condensation in Hamlet can be found in the relationship between Hamlet and King
Hamlet s Ghost. Throughout the play, it is unclear whether the Ghost is real or simply a figment
of Hamlet s imagination. In act 1 scene 1, the Ghost appears to the castle guards as ...this dreaded
sight twice seen of us (line 23). Horatio and Marcellus have seen the

Apollonian Vs Dionyysian Research Paper
Apollonian vs. Dionysian (Friedrich Nietzsche) What is the difference between Apollonian and
Dionysian? The name Apollonian came from the Greek God Apollo, meaning good or obedient.
Dionysian came from the Greek God Dionysus, meaning more dark or sensual. He used the
names Apollonian and Dionysian for the two forces because Apollo, as the sun god, represents
light, clarity, and form, whereas Dionysus, as the wine god, represents drunkenness and ecstasy.
(Leeming) People use these terms to describe different things. One main thing they are used for
is to compare between people. If a person is more Apollonian they are more likely to follow the
rules and do what is right. If a person is more Dionysian they are more likely to do whatever they...

There are several reasons that rap music is considered Dionysian. One reason is because the
lyrics have some dark meanings. For example, death, drugs and sex are some main topics in rap
music. Another reason rap music is considered Dionysian is because most rap artist use
offensive language in their music. Rap music is most commonly popular among the youth. This
is because young teens are much more Dionysian than adults. The scholarly dialectic is directly
opposed to the concept of the Dionysian because it only seeks to negate life; it uses reason to
always deflect, but never to create. (Raina) Not all rap music is Dionysian, but all rap music gets
the reputation of Dionysian. Being Dionysian isn t always bad either. For example, most rap songs
talk about things that people keep hidden away. In a way, rap music says all the things people

Contemporary Benefits of the European Union
Stability, security, and prosperity are qualities every individual desires, yet achieving such
conditions may be a struggle in certain parts of the world. In Europe where two world wars have
erupted, multiple wars/battles have broken out between countries, and where the Black Plague
swept through; causalities are high and resentment is established in some cultures. Yet the continent
is beautiful everlasting landscape from the green rolling hills of Ireland to the snow capped

two government systems they do have contrasting views on the death penalty and trading. The
Transatlantic relationship encompasses crisis management, education, and research, along with
spurring entrepreneurial activity by extracting talents from both markets. The EU and U.S. wish to
spark interest in the foreign partnership so they establish competitions and conferences to build

Written Assignment 1; 1of2
The nature of the good life from a philosophical point of view is not as simple as the typical
picture that may pop into one s head of lying on a beach in a tropical paradise sipping frozen
daiquiris. Depending on which type of ethical model you use will change the picture. For
Thucydides his view point seems to be that Might is Right versus Plato s Might for Right as well as
a search for what is right. Another way to differentiate the two would be to say one is for what I
have the right to do and that makes it right verses what is the right thing to do and what makes it
right.

He is clearly stating that one plus one is two. If we (the Athenians) attack, the Spartans are not
going to help you because based on our observations they are more about serving their interests than
yours (the Melians). Thucydides, further illustrates this by proving the Athenians were right in their
calculations of the situation. His story is not only empirical, they are a direct attack on normative
ethics. The Melians believed they knew what was right and that the Spartans would come to their
aid because they believed it was the right thing to do. But they were proven to be incorrect,
supporting the idea that this story was not only empirical but a disagreement in the validity of
normative ethics.
Plato however I believe would have been on the side of the Melians in Thucydides story.
Interestingly enough Socrates would have died just as he does in his own story The Apology of
placing all his beliefs in normative ethics. In Plato s The Apology he begins his tale with a
blatant normative argument. He states that the Athenians assigned Socrates a post during a battle
and that he stood his ground and did not leave because he believed it was the right thing to do.
By definition normative ethics are ethics based on values. There is no way to measure values.
Unlike a math equation there is no right or wrong answer. What I believe to be true and just is not
the same for all others. Plato goes on further to

Health and Diet
Abstract: With my personal life experience I d like to clarify that a healthy diet and physical
exercises help to lose weight. This passage introduces some scientific means to keep fit and, from
both sides, indicates the effection that it may have brought along. Another point is that one should

Ethical Considerations For A Crisis Management Plan

to help the person dealing with a crisis situation. A crisis management team is a team of people

management team may compromise of individuals such as teachers, social workers, police officers,
nurses, paramedics, psychologists, and school principals. School counselors should also be

Also, another ethical consideration for school counselors would be if the student is a danger to
themselves or another student, then it s important to disclose that information along with getting
their parents involved. The legal considerations that must be applied when responding to a
student crisis is that school counselors have a duty to protect students when they re going
through a crisis. Going back to the crisis of a student being a danger to another student, school
counselors have the legal duty to protect that other student as well as reporting to the authorities
(Kanel, 2015). It s important that school counselors know how to collaborate before, during, and
after a crisis. Before a crisis, the school counselor can collaborate with teachers and other school
staff members by training them and coming up with ways on how to help students during a
crisis situation. During a crisis, the school counselor will show other staff members how to
comfort students during their time of need in the crisis situation. After a crisis, the school
counselor will help staff members by showing them how to help students recover from a crisis as
well as providing them resources if they need any more additional help. The way that
collaboration assist in a crisis response is that school counselors and staff members come together
to work as a team help students heal through a crisis situation (Kelley, 2015). As for a post crisis
response, School counselors and staff members must prepare to come up with a plan along with
intervention strategies and resources in order to help students recover successfully from a crisis
situation. There are many techniques for school counselors to take into consideration that would be

Reflective Essay On Technical Performance
Introduction In this essay I will analyse and contextualise the work of 3 key practitioners who
are currently active and influential within the classical ballet industry. I will discuss and
develop key qualities of my three chosen practitioners and identify the main objectives that have
allowed them to achieve their current high status within the industry. I will also identify, analyse
and contextualise the main performance qualities of the key practitioners work and analyse
ways in which I can incorporate these qualities into my own work. I will relate my studies of
these 3 artists to my own chosen classical variation that I have chosen to perform. I will analyse
and reflect on my own advanced understanding of my personal technical performance skills. I
will use anatomical vocabulary and professional language when discussing and reflecting on my
technical performance skills, translating from the barre to the stage with the use of stylistic
knowledge and performance context. I have chosen to study the work of three current classical
artists; Alina Cojucaru, Mellissa Hamilton and Marianela Nunez. I was introduced to Alina
Cojucaru when I went to see English National Ballet s performance of Swan Lake in 2014.
Cojucaru played the joint role of Odette and Odile, and I was drawn to her due to the contrast
between the two characters she could convey through her technique. As Odette she used her

There is increasing evidence for an African origin for behavioral and technological modernity

Communication Skills That Build Winning Relationships
Communication is the key to growth and development of oneself, and relationships with others.
Good relationships are normally forged over good communication skills. We all know of the
popular saying, No man is an island. This means that human beings are social animals needing
interaction, no man was born to be a loner. Without effective communicationit would be impossible
to survive in this cut throat world. Therefore, it is a necessity to have good communication skills in
order to relate well with other people.

There are two main reasons why we communicate:
To gather relevant information from people.
To elicit emotional support to people and in turn build mutually useful relationships.

v)They blame themselves for everything
They often think that all failures are their fault. For instance, if a person failed to be promoted in
a job he will say, I knew I should have pitched myself harder and be more assertive. Maybe then I
would have gotten the promotion. vi) They dwell on the past
Polar thinkers find it hard to accept and let go of past mistakes, and concentrate on the future.
They use words such as should and ought. For example, in the case of a failed job interview a
polar thinker would say, I should have spoken more clearly and with much more confidence.
We should realize that the way we think affects how we act, in turn affecting our communication
and relationships. There is no shame in recognizing that we have maxed out our potential. Our
happiness cannot depend on other people, we determine our own happiness.
Steps to effective internal communication
These steps are used to help us grow. They can be summarized in the following acronym:
BE DO ACHIEVE NEW BE DO

The process can be done by infusing prepared factor concentrates and people who have
hemophilia eventually learn how to use these infusions on their own in order to stop their
bleeding episodes and, by doing the infusions regularly this for the most part can even stop most
bleeding episodes from even happening. But it s going to take good medical care from doctors
and nurses who have experience in dealing with people who have the disorder in order to
administer preventive solutions. The disorder of hemophilia is a genetic one which means it is
inherited, and to this day there is still no cure but treatment to live with this disorder. Hemophilia
can and does affect all racial and ethnic groups of people and within those groups it has been found
that majority of those with hemophilia are men. Now being that this is inherited let s look in to the

fruit flies. So, with those findings from the data given it can be deduced that

Effects of Disclosing other s Privacy
Privacy refers to the ability of an individual or group to seclude themselves or information about
themselves and thereby reveal themselves selectively. The boundaries and content of what is
considered private differ among cultures and individuals, but share basic common themes. Privacy
related to anonymity, the wish to remain unnoticed or unidentified in the public realm. When
something is private to a person, it usually means being considered inherently special or personally
sensitive. The degree to which private information is exposed therefore depends on how the public
will receive this information. In addition, Privacy can be seen as an aspect of security, in which
trade offs between the interests of one group and another can become particularly clear.
Since netizens deem that their freedom of speech is valued over other s personal privacy, the
phenomenon of publicizing privacy prevails on the Internet. However, this behavior poses harmful
effects on the real society.
First, disclosure of personal privacy has a profound effect on victims and their surrounding people s
life. Some people deliberately post others personal information without their consents on open
place, such as forum and Facebook. This information may include embarrassing photos, address and
phone number. They will then suffer psychologically from daily harassment in real life. For

An EcOS database acts as a container for data, metadata, and objects.
The database structure is governed by its attributes.
Since it is a time series database, each series stored is tied to a time dimension.
Each time series has a default scale.

Video Games And Real Violence
Video games and real violence, is there a relationship? Just take a minute and think about the
question. According to HealthLine news 91% of kids play video games and 90% of these video
games are violent video games. So one would automatically assume video games promote real
violence. I believe this is not true and through expert analysis and through my own experience I
will not only show but, prove that video games do not promote violence. I have been playing video
games for as long as I can remember. I started out playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
on
Nintendo when I was six and now I playa variety of games for the PS3. These games include Need
for Speed, Madden NFL 16, Call of Duty, and Grand Theft Auto 5. What I am basically saying is
that I have many years of experience with violent video games, but I have never been in a
situation to where I thought it would make me more aggressive toward anyone. If anything I
calmed me down. After a long day at work or even after a small argument with my girlfriend I
would go to my room and play my games, it was a stress reliever for me. I have never been in
any fights nor have I been arrested for any violence in my life. According to Cheryl Olson,

Monologue Of The Legend Of Alice
Proverbs 11:13
A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret. In the year 1560, in
England lived two girls and they were cousins. Their names are Lady Rose Woodly and Lady
Alice Woodly. They were both daughters of a wealthy Duke and Duchess. Rose was kindhearted,
beautiful inside and out, and smart. Alice was not so kind, she was self centered, and although she
was smart she spent most of her time pretending to be clueless just to annoy people.

way to the garden she overheard Rose s father talking about a problem because of they were
harboring the bandits in their dungeon called, Ruthless Bandits. I always harbored a grudge
against Rose for being so good and kind. But finally I saw an to make a total fool out of Rose by
just bending the truth about this...a lot. Before the Duke could see me, I continued walking towards
the sanctuary in the garden where Rose and I had all of their Sunday brunches at. Rose As I
watched Alice get in her carriage to go home, I replayed in my mind the weirdness of Alice s
actions during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

father. Once he was found they were taken outside and mounted up on horses and rode to Rose s
home...When they arrived they were brought to the Grand Hall where Duke Benjamin, Rose s
father, and Rose stood along with her mother and brothers and sisters. Duke Rupert learned what I

Othello s Jealousy
Shakespeare uses themes in many of his works such as love, betrayal and others. Many of these
themes are present in the play Othello, another one of Shakespeare s works. Most obvious in the
play Othello, is jealousy. Jealousy controls the characters in Othello from the beginning of the play
to the end Some characters jealousy is caused by other characters, like Iago. He creates lies which
cause other characters to act differently. He is jealous of Cassio and angry with Othellobecause he
was not chosen as lieutenant of Cyprus, and Cassio was. Iago wants everyone to feel as bad as he
does so he forces jealousy into other characters. Iago wants everyone to become jealous, so he
betrays and manipulates the other characters. Othello starts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Haim Omer and Marcello Da Verona writers of the article Doctor Iago s treatment of Othello gives
an example of Iago s manipulation and trickery when Brabantio is confronted by them about his
daughter. Brabantio ignores what they say about Desdemona, because he does not want to believe
his own daughter would to anything to disobey him, and he becomes angry because he has been
woken up in the middle of the night. Iago responds by complimenting Brabantio. Brabantio yells,
Thou art a villain Iago responds, You are a senator (I. i. 115 116). Brabantio is taken back by this
complement and re thinks he situation. He now believes Iago and Roderigo, especially when he
finds Desdemona missing from her bed chamber (Omer 1). Iago waits for whatever Othello says
to figure out how to respond best to get the right reaction from him. For example, Othello asks
Iago about Cassio being with Desdemona when they are seen together in private. Was that not
Cassio parted from my wife? questions Othello to Iago, then Iago responds, Cassio, my Lord?
Othello answers back, I do believe twas he (III. iii. 37 38, 40). Iago has avoided the question asked
by Othello and asks another question, turning things around so that Othello actually answers his own

White Heron Literary Analysis
In Sarah Orne Jewett, White Heron , I found it revealing that in the end, Sylvia despite finding the
white heron nest, she doesn t tell the hunter. When Sylvia and the hunter are initially searching for
the nest, Sylvia ... watched the young man with loving admiration and she had never seen anybody
so charming and delightful. Like many love stricken individuals, they would do many things for
their target of affection, so one would assume that Sylvia would gladly and happily tell the hunter
where the location of the heron s nest is after finding it. However, at the end of story, Sylvia doesn
t tell the man. I found this detail to be revealing to the story s meaning of being connected to nature
and preserving its beauty despite temptation

Analysis Of Thomson s Argument Of Determining The...
Through the words of Thomson, the argument of determining the implementation of life exists.
Thomson examines the conflict between practicality and impracticality. Practicality stands on
empiricism where science based beliefs as factual concrete information structures the overall
argument of pro choice. Impracticality stands on faith where it could be argued that religious
based knowledge serves as concrete information to defend pre life. In my essay I will argue
Thomson s claim of the special cases in which abortionis acceptable and challenge the morality of
deciding the fate of a human life who does now have a voice of input.
Thomson begins her argument by discussing when life begins. There are two theoretical ideas of
how an individual

Summary Of In The Time Of The Butterflies By Julia Alvarez
Alvarez published her award winning novel In the Time of the Butterflies in 1994. The novel
delves into the story of the Mirabel sisters. Patria, Maria Teresa, Dede, and Minerva narrate the
story of their lives from young teenagers in 1938, until their last breath in 1960. The only sister to
survive was Dede. Alvarez in the Dominican Republicinterviewed Dede. Dede gives her in depth
knowledge of her sisters lives and background. Alvarez vocalizes, They became real to me because
she was real (Heredia page 4). Alvarez expresses, Their voices became real to me in an intuitive
way (4). She wanted the novelto emulate the Mirabel s sisters lives, not just their death. Graciously,
she provides realism and historical facts to a novel. She

Eyewitness Testimony Of The Human Eye
In eyewitness testimony the human eye can distort or change what it sees. There are many
intricate parts of the eye that contribute to people s daily vision. Not everyone has the same form
and order of cells in their eyes. The rod cells are located on the perimeter of the retina. While the
cone cells are compacted together in the middle of the retina. Both of these cell types are clustered
together but, are not placed evenly throughout the eye. When the form of the cells create central
vision the vision is clear. The other form of the eye is peripheral vision which has less clear
vision. When someone looks around the eye can take a quick glance at an object and see many
things, yet so much is going on in the eye to produce this image. The eyes take in everything they
see to create a smooth movement. This makes the brainlook at it as a motion picture. The eyes see
three dimensional to notice every side of an object. This can result in two different types of
vision. Binocular vision which is where sight is produced from both eyes. The other type is
Stereoscopic vision where both eyes collect different angles of an image and gives it depth. All the
different forms and and visions in the eye can create a different perception for each individual. The

The Harm of Puppy Mills
So you want to adopt a puppy? Well there are two main places that your puppy could have been
born. First, your puppy could have been born at a puppy mill. This is an inhumane, mass
breeding location that can be very detrimental to your new pet. Another location that your puppy
could have been born at is a breeder. This is a more humane location for your puppy to have been
born. When adopting a puppy you should avoid going to a pet store because most pet stores receive
their puppies from puppy mills; inhumane and overpopulated puppy breeding places.
The term puppy mill is used quite frequently when discussing animal cruelty. This term does not
have a specific dictionary definition. A puppy mill is essentially a large scale puppy breeding...

10). Some of the inhumane features of the puppy mills include that the puppies are housed in small,
wire cages, more fearful through life due to the lack of early human interaction (Peters 5), and when
there is no human contact made with the puppies, it can cause post traumatic behavior in the
animals (Peters 3).
A second horrible feature about puppy mills is that they are overpopulated. They are mass bred
in warehouses. Breeding takes place in warehouses because there is a lot of space for the 70+
breeds that are in a mill (Dionne 7). According to the ASPCA, the female dogs are bred every
time that they are in heat and when they cannot be bred anymore, they are killed. Pamela Sacks
has also researched the same things that the ASPCA has and she additionally found out that mill
dogs are bred consistently until they can no longer be bred then they are killed (par.4). It is a
common thought that puppy mills do not breed purebred dogs. According to Dionne, mills breed
both purebred and mix breed dogs (7). A mix breed dogwould be one that is a combination of two
or more breeds. For example, a goldendoodle is a mix breed dog. It is a combination of a golden
retriever and a poodle. A purebred dog is one that has two parents of the same breed. For example, a
Yorkshire Terrier is a purebred. Both of its parents were Yorkshire Terriers so the

The Impact Of Debussy s Influence On The Works Of Richard...
In 1888, Debussy traveled to Bayreuth, hearing Parsifal and Meistersinger there, followed by
Tristan the next year. His trips to Bayreuth mark the beginning of Debussy s intentional shift
away from Wagner. Wagner s domination of the French musical society occurred gradually over
a period of about forty years. Elaine Brody writes that in the 1840s the French regarded Wagner
as a madman; by the 1880s they had placed him on a pedestal. Debussy himself was became swept
up in the fervor of Wagnerism. While the Debussy heard Wagner s Tristan while in Rome, it was
Parsifal that had the biggest impact on the French composer. But despite the overwhelming support
for Wagner s music, Debussy returned from Bayreuth feeling that he needed to free himself from
the German s influence; he wanted to to develop a style that was characteristically French and free
of German influences.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After returning from Rome, Debussy began frequenting bistros, literary cafes, and attended
gatherings at Edmond Bailly s shop of rare books, where he read books exposing him to religious
symbolism. Through his newly acquired connections, he was invited to attend Staphane
MallarmГ© s Tuesday evening salon. At these events, he participated in discussions of literature,
art, music, and heard many works by MallarmГ© and other Symbolists. MallarmГ© s notion of of
the arabesque is something that Debussy latched onto. Barbara Kelly described Debussy s concept
of arabesque as an undulating melodic line, independent of any notion of development of
themes...subject to varied repetition. This is a concept that would prevail through Debussy s
mature compositional

Analysis Of A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night Essay
The film A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night , director Ana Lily Amirpour, is a mixture of genres
such as the Spaghetti Western, the teenage romance, and the vampire genre. The clash of genres
in this film brings out the idea of hybridity and duality, with the sounds and cinematography
creating a sense of ambiguity, or the in between . The underlying mix brings out a sense of horror
for the overall feel of the film as it leaves audiences with a sense of fear and realisation that not
everything is as it seems.
The spaghetti western genre is a part of the mix of genres which provide the film with its theme of
duality and hybridity, and Amirpour has chosen to feed this genre through with the character of
the girl. Typical of the spaghetti western genre, the character is nameless. Audiences do not have
the privilege of finding out her name, and in the title she is referred to as A Girl . This feel of
uncertainty is heightened with a sense of fear when the only information we are presented about
her is when she tells Arash that she has done bad things . She is representative of the spaghetti
western hero in her characteristics and actions. Untiedt, upon analysing the fictional western hero,
states that the first defining characteristic of the western hero is isolation (7). Here the Girl is
always seen to be walking alone, she has no companions, and lives by herself. Dualism is brought
out within the character, as the western hero has a desire to explore without settling (7).

Identification Of Unknown Inorganic Ions
Qualitative Analysis
Identification of Unknown Inorganic Ions
Introduction:
Qualitative analysis helps us to find out the certain amount of specie in a sample. During
qualitative analysis we do not know the type of specie present in the sample. We identify the type
of specie in the sample by precipitating out the specie. The spot test method is used to observe the
results. Solubility rules are used to find out the type of ions coming out of solution. The law of
Conservation of Mass will help us to determine the true quantity of substances in the reaction.
We know that when we dissolve an ionic compound in water the water molecules surround the ionic
compound. Surrounding of molecules causes the dissociation. For some compounds the separation

mixture we have performed the separation before the spot test to ensure that the presence of one
ion may not affect the other ion. For the separation of ions we have utilized a flow chart.
We have followed the flow chart procedure in the analysis of unknown 4, after a complete analysis
we have concluded that the unknown 4 contains the metal ions Nickel (Ni2+), silver (Ag+), and
Barium (Ba2+). There is no metal ion lead and iron.
The experiment is performed using a set of predefined rules and the results are recoreded. We have

community health. This author spoke on the high sex ratio of boys and girls being well known in
china, but people lack knowledge on the ratio of chinese population s living elsewhere. The writer
used statistics to back up her claims. They then relate their claims to social practices that the
chinese population has put into place to control the sex ratio of children. The overload of the
statistics is in the text to promote the article as a credible source. This source was short and more

The authors make clear the delay of the policy being dropped and the clear effects it had on the

factual information to further explain. Globe Mail (2015). Five takeaways from China s one

many articles on government policies around the globe. In this article he sorted the different
countries population into two categories: one being the population is growing so rapidly the
government is fighting to keep it under control, the other carrying a great concern as they try to
keep their family sizes from dropping too low. He then relates china on having this problem
based on the implication of the one child policy in 1979. The author uses a very strong opinion

The Use Of Denotation And Connotation In Rich s Poems
Denotation and connotation are literary devices that are incorporated throughout Rich s poem.
Denotation is the more literal meaning of a word, were connotation is a suggested or imaginative
meaning of a word. A more relatable example where denotation and connotation is used is when
someone implies the word home. The denotative meaning of the word home would be the particular
name of a structure. The connotative use of the word home could mean a place of affection,
comfort and peace. Just as denotationand connotationare used for words like home, this device is
also used in the poem Aunt Jennifer s Tigers to prove the underlying message of domestic abuse or
violence. When the author uses words like, prancing in line twelve the

Criminal Law Vs. Private Law
Criminal Law vs. Private Law
The Rule of Law, as expressed through Canadian criminal law is important as our laws embody
the basic moral values of society. The primary aims of criminal law are to protect the public and
preserve peace (Barnhorst Barnhorst, 2013). Law also imposes limits on our actions and guides
our choices in conduct. The conditions of the Rule of Law ensure that no individual, government or
parliament is treated as above the law, and that everyone must obey the law or they must suffer the
consequences. The primary reason that criminal law is necessary, rather than governing individual
behaviour through private law, is because committing a criminal offence is seen as committing a
crime against society as a whole rather than an individual. The protection and punishment of the
offender should be proportionate to the offence committed and all Canadian courts should attempt
to administer punishment to offenders using a Canada wide set of laws which are based on
similar cases that occurred in the past, rather than private laws in order to avoid bias in different
jurisdictions and areas of Canada. Citizens of countries that do not adhere to recognize the rule of
law are often unable to stand up against the government or other powerful interests without fear or
attack and there are often reports of human rights violations (The Law Society of British Columbia,
2013). A country that is not governed by the rule of law would result in laws and court proceedings

Besides in relationships, there is another place where communication is key... Not in DJ Khaled s

When salespeople and customers cannot communicate with each other, it leads to frustration on

Stroke Vs Heat Stroke
Heat Related Illnesses
Return to Play Guidelines
The two return to play guidelines I feel are most important are heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
While all are very important to learn, these two are crucial as it occurs more frequently here in
Phoenix, Arizona. After an athlete has heat exhaustion, it takes about a day to two days to recover
enough to get back into sports. During this time staying hydrated and keeping cool is imperative.
The athlete should avoid alcohol or caffeine and that only further dehydrates you. Taking breaks
from the heat as the athlete gradually goes back into sports will help getting used to the heat again
(Ehrlich, 2014). After having heat exhaustion, the athlete should be more cautious and drink past
thirst satiation because he or she will be effected more by the heat than usual. This is very
important as returning to play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main difference is that heat stroke is much more severe and can easily lead to death. There are
two types of heat stroke, exertional heat stroke and classic heat stroke. Exertional heat stroke occurs
during physical activity generally with younger athletes while classic heat stroke can happen to
anyone who is out in the sun too long and does not have much heat resistance. Signs and symptoms
of heat stroke are a throbbing headache, dizziness, lack of sweating, red and dry skin, muscle
weakness and cramps, nausea, vomiting, tachycardia, shallow breathing, confusion, seizures, or
syncope ( Heat Stroke: Symptoms and Treatment, n.d.). In the event that heat stroke occurs,
immediately call 911, remove unnecessary clothing, dunk in an ice bath or apply ice packs and ice
towels in a similar fashion as you would for heat exhaustion ( Heat Stroke: Symptoms and
Treatment, n.d.). Even if the athletic trainer doubts if the condition if heat stroke or heat

  • 2. Immanuel Kant, Rudolf Carnap And Mary Leng Knowledge about such objects as numbers and shapes has been debated by scholars including Immanuel Kant, Rudolf Carnap and Mary Leng. The ability to attain knowledge of something s existence encompasses philosophical ideas from a priori and a posteriori truths to ideas about universalism. Abstract ideas with concrete uses, such as shapes and numbers, are effective vehicles for such a discussion. I believe that mathematical objects exist as a priori truths and because they follow an axiomatic truththeory. The truth theory applied however, is unique to the metaphysical object being discussed. According to Kant (1788), all knowledge that states fact is either a priori (exists by definition) or a posteriori (knowable by experience) and is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A statement such as 3+4=7 is considered a mathematical truth, as if the mathematical objects 3, 4 and 7 exist and facts can be made about them. (Note that nominalists would not agree that numbers exist in this sense however, as nominalist theories are often motivated by empiricist standpoints, which find no place for the existence of non spatiotemporal objects.) A potential problem with this is that one finds that mathematics has a hierarchy of abstraction, resulting in a plethora of more conceptual mathematical objects that become difficult to engage with. A given fact such as Fermat s Last Theorem: No three positive integers a, b, and c can satisfy the equation a^n + b^n = c^n for any integer value of n greater than two which requires 150 pages to prove and consumed 7 years of Andrew Wiles life to do so. The concepts that unfold from such a proof can be known because they are derived from the axioms of mathematics in logic , which was first fully established in logicism in 1884 by Gottlob Frege (see Thinking About Mathematics by Stewart Shapiro (2000), p.107 115). In this sense, all mathematical facts are justified, therefore knowledge of them is possible. Mathematical objects exist therefore because of how coherent and well defined it is. It doesn t make sense to say we know about something that doesn t exist. So mathematics must exist in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Is Hamlet Grieving For His Father s Death In Hamlet Analysis When analyzing Hamlet under a psychological lens, one can speculate on why exactly Hamlet is so fixated on the death of his father. Is the cause a heartfelt relationship between Hamlet and King Hamlet? Or is Hamlet displacing the real motive for his grief? It is possible that Hamlet is not grieving for his father s death after all, but subconsciously grieving for something else. Due to the death of King Hamlet, Hamlet would have inherited the kingdom if it wasn t for the existence of Claudius, who took over the throne instead. Perhaps Hamlet is grieving the loss of this position to his uncle. The context of the Oedipal complex can be applied to this scenario, as Hamlet would be taking the position of Gertrudes husband, which according to Freud, satisfies the subconscious desire universally present in all humans of wanting to have sex with the parent of the opposite gender. Since this idea is unacceptable and dangerous to Hamlet, he subconsciously transfers his mourning for the loss of his position as Gertrude s husband to mourning for the loss of his father in an act of displacement. Evidence for the Oedipal complex can be found in Hamlet s anger at Gertrude for so quickly remarrying to Claudius and not showing proper grief towards her former husband, King Hamlet. In act 3 scene 4, Hamlet rebukes Gertrude for a deed ...as bad, good mother, / As kill a king and marry his brother (lines 29 30). In this scene, Hamlet claims that Gertrude was King Hamlet s killer, which is contradictory to what the King Hamlet s Ghost had stated: that Claudius had killed him. To explain this logical inconsistency, the psychoanalytic element of condensation must be understood, as according to Freud, condensation and displacement are closely related. Condensation is the representation of multiple emotions in a single idea. Several meanings are condensed into one image. An example of condensation in Hamlet can be found in the relationship between Hamlet and King Hamlet s Ghost. Throughout the play, it is unclear whether the Ghost is real or simply a figment of Hamlet s imagination. In act 1 scene 1, the Ghost appears to the castle guards as ...this dreaded sight twice seen of us (line 23). Horatio and Marcellus have seen the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Apollonian Vs Dionyysian Research Paper Apollonian vs. Dionysian (Friedrich Nietzsche) What is the difference between Apollonian and Dionysian? The name Apollonian came from the Greek God Apollo, meaning good or obedient. Dionysian came from the Greek God Dionysus, meaning more dark or sensual. He used the names Apollonian and Dionysian for the two forces because Apollo, as the sun god, represents light, clarity, and form, whereas Dionysus, as the wine god, represents drunkenness and ecstasy. (Leeming) People use these terms to describe different things. One main thing they are used for is to compare between people. If a person is more Apollonian they are more likely to follow the rules and do what is right. If a person is more Dionysian they are more likely to do whatever they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are several reasons that rap music is considered Dionysian. One reason is because the lyrics have some dark meanings. For example, death, drugs and sex are some main topics in rap music. Another reason rap music is considered Dionysian is because most rap artist use offensive language in their music. Rap music is most commonly popular among the youth. This is because young teens are much more Dionysian than adults. The scholarly dialectic is directly opposed to the concept of the Dionysian because it only seeks to negate life; it uses reason to always deflect, but never to create. (Raina) Not all rap music is Dionysian, but all rap music gets the reputation of Dionysian. Being Dionysian isn t always bad either. For example, most rap songs talk about things that people keep hidden away. In a way, rap music says all the things people cannot say ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Written Assignment Michael Scorza Student ID# 0584210 2015SEP PHI 286 OL008 Written Assignment 1; 1of2 The nature of the good life from a philosophical point of view is not as simple as the typical picture that may pop into one s head of lying on a beach in a tropical paradise sipping frozen daiquiris. Depending on which type of ethical model you use will change the picture. For Thucydides his view point seems to be that Might is Right versus Plato s Might for Right as well as a search for what is right. Another way to differentiate the two would be to say one is for what I have the right to do and that makes it right verses what is the right thing to do and what makes it right. If we (the Athenians) attack, the Spartans are not going to help you because based on our observations they are more about serving their interests than yours (the Melians). Thucydides, further illustrates this by proving the Athenians were right in their calculations of the situation. His story is not only empirical, they are a direct attack on normative ethics. The Melians believed they knew what was right and that the Spartans would come to their aid because they believed it was the right thing to do. But they were proven to be incorrect, supporting the idea that this story was not only empirical but a disagreement in the validity of normative ethics. Plato however I believe would have been on the side of the Melians in Thucydides story. Interestingly enough Socrates would have died just as he does in his own story The Apology of placing all his beliefs in normative ethics. In Plato s The Apology he begins his tale with a blatant normative argument. He states that the Athenians assigned Socrates a post during a battle and that he stood his ground and did not leave because he believed it was the right thing to do. By definition normative ethics are ethics based on values. There is no way to measure values. Unlike a math equation there is no right or wrong answer. Also, another ethical consideration for school counselors would be if the student is a danger to themselves or another student, then it s important to disclose that information along with getting their parents involved. The legal considerations that must be applied when responding to a student crisis is that school counselors have a duty to protect students when they re going through a crisis. Going back to the crisis of a student being a danger to another student, school counselors have the legal duty to protect that other student as well as reporting to the authorities (Kanel, 2015). It s important that school counselors know how to collaborate before, during, and after a crisis. Before a crisis, the school counselor can collaborate with teachers and other school staff members by training them and coming up with ways on how to help students during a crisis situation. During a crisis, the school counselor will show other staff members how to comfort students during their time of need in the crisis situation. After a crisis, the school counselor will help staff members by showing them how to help students recover from a crisis as well as providing them resources if they need any more additional help. The way that collaboration assist in a crisis response is that school counselors and staff members come together to work as a team help students heal through a crisis situation (Kelley, 2015). Reflective Essay On Technical Performance Introduction In this essay I will analyse and contextualise the work of 3 key practitioners who are currently active and influential within the classical ballet industry. I will discuss and develop key qualities of my three chosen practitioners and identify the main objectives that have allowed them to achieve their current high status within the industry. I will also identify, analyse and contextualise the main performance qualities of the key practitioners work and analyse ways in which I can incorporate these qualities into my own work. I will relate my studies of these 3 artists to my own chosen classical variation that I have chosen to perform. I will analyse and reflect on my own advanced understanding of my personal technical performance skills. I will use anatomical vocabulary and professional language when discussing and reflecting on my technical performance skills, translating from the barre to the stage with the use of stylistic knowledge and performance context. I have chosen to study the work of three current classical artists; Alina Cojucaru, Mellissa Hamilton and Marianela Nunez. I was introduced to Alina Cojucaru when I went to see English National Ballet s performance of Swan Lake in 2014. Cojucaru played the joint role of Odette and Odile, and I was drawn to her due to the contrast between the two characters she could convey through her technique. Some of the inhumane features of the puppy mills include that the puppies are housed in small, wire cages, more fearful through life due to the lack of early human interaction (Peters 5), and when there is no human contact made with the puppies, it can cause post traumatic behavior in the animals (Peters 3). A second horrible feature about puppy mills is that they are overpopulated. They are mass bred in warehouses. Breeding takes place in warehouses because there is a lot of space for the 70+ breeds that are in a mill (Dionne 7). According to the ASPCA, the female dogs are bred every time that they are in heat and when they cannot be bred anymore, they are killed. Pamela Sacks has also researched the same things that the ASPCA has and she additionally found out that mill dogs are bred consistently until they can no longer be bred then they are killed (par.4). It is a common thought that puppy mills do not breed purebred dogs. According to Dionne, mills breed both purebred and mix breed dogs (7). Analysis Of A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night Essay The film A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night , director Ana Lily Amirpour, is a mixture of genres such as the Spaghetti Western, the teenage romance, and the vampire genre. The clash of genres in this film brings out the idea of hybridity and duality, with the sounds and cinematography creating a sense of ambiguity, or the in between . The underlying mix brings out a sense of horror for the overall feel of the film as it leaves audiences with a sense of fear and realisation that not everything is as it seems. The spaghetti western genre is a part of the mix of genres which provide the film with its theme of duality and hybridity, and Amirpour has chosen to feed this genre through with the character of the girl. Typical of the spaghetti western genre, the character is nameless. Audiences do not have the privilege of finding out her name, and in the title she is referred to as A Girl . This feel of uncertainty is heightened with a sense of fear when the only information we are presented about her is when she tells Arash that she has done bad things . She is representative of the spaghetti western hero in her characteristics and actions. Untiedt, upon analysing the fictional western hero, states that the first defining characteristic of the western hero is isolation (7). • 32. Criminal Law Vs. Private Law Criminal Law vs. Private Law The Rule of Law, as expressed through Canadian criminal law is important as our laws embody the basic moral values of society. The primary aims of criminal law are to protect the public and preserve peace (Barnhorst Barnhorst, 2013). Law also imposes limits on our actions and guides our choices in conduct. The conditions of the Rule of Law ensure that no individual, government or parliament is treated as above the law, and that everyone must obey the law or they must suffer the consequences. The primary reason that criminal law is necessary, rather than governing individual behaviour through private law, is because committing a criminal offence is seen as committing a crime against society as a whole rather than an individual. The protection and punishment of the offender should be proportionate to the offence committed and all Canadian courts should attempt to administer punishment to offenders using a Canada wide set of laws which are based on similar cases that occurred in the past, rather than private laws in order to avoid bias in different jurisdictions and areas of Canada. Citizens of countries that do not adhere to recognize the rule of law are often unable to stand up against the government or other powerful interests without fear or attack and there are often reports of human rights violations (The Law Society of British Columbia, 2013).
