Tips For A Successful Career
What should you do to forge a successful, gratifying career? Briefly explain each of the four
dimensions that should be considered. Where do you need to improve? What is your plan to
accomplish your improvement?
To forge a successful career you should be a specialist, a generalist, self reliant , connected and also be
able to actively manage your relationship with your organization and be able to survive and thrive in
the world.
According to the text it is said you should be a specialist and a generalist, since in your career you do
not just want to be a specialist, you want to advance up and get into higher positions in which your
responsibility increases, you will deal with more people and and understand if not all at least more
areas of the organization. To be a specialist you need to be skillful expert in a particular valuable area
which will help give the firm and the customers a more concrete and knowledgable value. To be a
generalist means to have a wide range of knowledge about diverse areas in the organization. To be self
reliant means to be autonomous and take responsibility for your own actions. As a human who wants
to grow it is our duty to go the extra mile and do what is necessary to grow without the help of a boss
or a company, we must try to be entrepreneurs and take risk and see where we make mistakes, work
hard towards improving those mistakes via practise and rise upwards. To be connected means to have
a lot of good relations with clients and people

Serial Killers Of Jack The Ripper
Jack The Ripper was a serial killer in East End London, in the late 1888 s. No one knows who it is to
this day. There are several theories to who it could be, most are males but there is still a little doubt
that could have been a woman, maybe both? The only thing that is known for sure these women were
victims of him or her. Jack The Ripper was known for the way he murder, he left cuts on both sides of
the neck and made the knees or legs of the women up towards her chest or in the air; in some cases he
would destroy the body so bad that it was hard to identify who the victim was. One of the only reasons
police knew who the victims were in because Jack would write notes to the police office or the
newspaper company telling them who was killing next but not when. Jack The Ripper was a man of
pattern and rountie. His killings were all almost alike and his victims had profiles that matched each
other s.
Jack had five victims, who were all women; the women had a couple things in common, all but one of
the women were in their 40s, they were all drinkers, and most of the five women were known to be in
the business of prostitution. All five victims were found dead in poorly lit alley ways or stairways,
with their necks cut on either side and other lacerations throughout the body.
According to Josh Clark, this is what happened to the five victims of Jack The Ripper. Mary Nichols
was the first victim, found on August 31, 1888 at 3:45am. Mary was 44 years old who liked her
drinks. She was found in a narrow side street of Buck s Row in the Whitechapel; she had an eight inch
laceration to her throat that cut both of her major arteries and she had violent cuts on her abdomen.
Annie Chapman was the second victim, she was found on September 8, 1888 at 5:45am. Annie was a
47 year old widow who was a heavy drinker and survived through prostitution. Annie was found
outside an apartment at 29 Hanbury Street with a man of shabby genteel , a few minutes after her
being spotted with the man, a muffled scream of No! followed by a loud thump on the fence. Her body
was found in the backyard of the apartment, with her feet pushed up toward her body, knees in the air
and spread apart. Her throat was cut deeply from left to right,

Hyperuricemia
Hyperuricemia is a common human metabolic disorder in the production or excreation of uric acid , it
leds to increase in serum uric acid levels more than the normal values (Haidari et al., 2012). Uric acid
is the last metabolite of the purine catabolic pathway in humans. Uric acid is formed by oxidation of
hypoxanthine to xanthine and xanthine to uric acid by the enzyme xanthine oxidase (XO).
Hyperuricemia results in the deposition of urate crystals in the joint and kidney causing inflammation,
gouty arthritis and uric acid nephrolithiasis (Tomita et al., 2000; Kong et al., 2002). The increasing
risk of hyperuricemia also has been demonstrated in several studies that elevated serum uric acid
levels predict the development of obesity and hypertension (Johnson et al., 2009; Perez Pozo et al.,
2010), hyperlipidaemia, cancer, and diabetes (Lin et al., 2000).
Gouty arthritis is a worldwide disease which is intimately associated to hyperuricemia, whereas this

Consequence to the inhibition, the blood and urinary concentrations of uric acid are reduced and there
is a simultaneous increase in the excretion of the more soluble uric acid precursors, xanthine and
hypoxanthine. Patients who are categorized as overproducers of uric acid or those with renal
insufficiency are best treated with XO inhibitors (Wright and Pinto, 2003). However, allopurinol is the
only clinically used XO inhibitor, which also leads to many side effects such as hypersensitivity
syndrome, Steven Johnson syndrome and renal toxicity (Liu et al., 2008). Thus, it would be highly
desired to search for new XO inhibitors, in particular from natural sources, as alternatives for
allopurinol (Strazzullo and Puig 2007, Nguyen et al

The Death Penalty Should Be Illegal
Since their declaration of independence, America had incorporated many aspects of Great Britain s
culture; one of those aspects include the death penalty, which began in 1608 at the time of the
Jamestown executions. The death penalty, a topic discussed since it began, includes death by electric
shock, gas chamber, hanging, firing squad, and, most commonly used, lethal injection. In 2014, it took
an Arizona man two hours and fifteen times the normal amount of medicine to die with lethal
injection. Knowing that the outcome of the death penalty may cause immense pain, the use of the
death penalty should be illegal in all states throughout the United States. Criminologists have long
discussed if homicide rates lower due to executions, or if life long imprisonment would have a greater
effect. But only around 10% of criminologists believe that research does indicate a decrease in
homicide rates with the death penalty (Recent Developments, Radlelet and Lacock). There has been
little to no change in the opinions of these specialists from 1996 to 2008. Some research even
indicates that the death penalty increases the number of murders committed. The U.S. has a higher rate
of deaths by handguns than other countries, so by having higher regulations on the use of guns, they
could lower their rates with this alternative. Regulating guns has become a another important issue
because many people think that when the constitution says the people in amendment two, it means the

Essay Chopin Sonata NO. 3
MUS 404: Keyboard Literature
June 22, 2010
Piano Sonata No. 3 in b minor, Op. 58 by Frédéric Chopin
Chopin s third sonata is a masterwork filled with pianistic elements, daring harmonies, experimental
form, and a wealth of expressivity. In this four movement work, references to other Chopin
compositions and influences from fellow composers are found. At the same time, there is a
progressive element; it looks forward to the heights which would be achieved by Chopin and later
composers.
Background
Chopin wrote the Sonata, Op. 58 in 1844, several months after the Berceuse, Op. 57. The Berceuse
provides inspiration for the slow movement (Samson, Chopin 23). These works were written at a time
when Chopin s relationship with George Sand was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was an uninspired composition, a failure, and largely forgotten (Huneker 166).
Movement 1: Allegro maestoso
The first movement of the third sonata is the most experimental, the one which deviates most from
Classical form and harmonies. The exposition, in particular, is more like a fantasy than a sonata. The
sonata opens quite promisingly. A descending broken chord followed by ascending march like chords
creates the primary theme (mm. 1 4). As soon as this theme is established, it is lost by a transition. The
transition (mm. 12 16) is derived from the opening theme. Traditionally, the transition should segue
way into the second theme. However, this transition leads to another idea, which is characterized by
majestic chords (mm. 17 18). This melodic idea is equally promising; it has the potential to serve as
the primary theme which had been cut short. Unfortunately, it only holds for two measures before it is
swept away by a descending chromatic scale in sixths.
The listener would perceive the slow moving idea (mm. 23 29) which follows as the second theme, if
it were not for its fleeting mysteriousness. It provides a contrast to the majestic themes which opened
the movement. The harmonic ambiguities, created by the chromaticism, are very progressive for the
Romantic era. This chromatic section is only the beginning of a lengthy transition (mm. 23 40),

Age has become a very important topic to be discussed as the world carries on. As people become
more knowledgeable and certain advancements in life occur, people are beginning to realize that there
indeed is a way to maximize your years and to have a meaningful life once one is old. Studying age
has become important in social behavior also. Each generation possesses its own definition and
witnessed some of the same events. Studies have come to regard generations, as familial so on the true

The major event that signifies how these people lived their lives begins with the stock market crash in
1929. These were pretty dark times in America. At that time, not only were woman s rights and
minority rights at the forefront of life, but also white men had seen their wealth in jeopardy. People
tend to compare the Great Recession of the current day to the Great Depression caused by the stock
market crash but it really does not compare. The quality of life in those times was barely scraping the
surface of what was to come. People literally starved, were homeless, and lost everything that they had
worked for. To match the atrocities of the financial of the American people, this cohort also seen the
events that lead to World War II. Japan s invasions of countries began in this era and Adolf Hitler
came to power in Germany. Though these times cost many American lives the effects on the economy
were actually positive. This is possibly when America first began to realize that it had the power to
pretty much do as it pleased. So on, America s world police mentality in general was amplified
because of this period in time. Many have analyzed this period in time as the consequences of abusing
the swing era. People in the swing era were careless with money and had complete confidence in
America as a whole and their lackadaisical ways left the Great Depression in its wake. (Kyvig, 2002)

Tacos
Mexican Cookery, an often crisply fried tortilla folded over and filled, as with seasoned chopped meat,
lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. In Spanish the word is used to describe a light snack.
This definition does not come close to describing the culinary delight we call the taco. The taco is a
symbol of Mexican food and is one of its most popular and well known forms.
Corn has been used as a food source for the indigenous people of the Mexicas since 3000 BC. The
Aztecs made flat bread out of it and called it tlaxcalli. The Aztecs ate tlaxcalli stuffed with various
concoctions of food and thus the taco was born. These concoctions would vary depending on the

* TACOrific for you unexpected guests.
Probably the most common among Mexican foods is the Taco. It is a corn or wheat tortilla folded or
rolled around a filling. The filling may include beef, mutton or shellfish and often has salsa,
vegetables and cheeses for added variety. A Taco is usually eaten using bare hands.
The dish was served early on by the Aztecs and only the Spanish gave its name which actually means
light snack . It used to be that the Mexican women served this as a practical way of serving comida to
husbands and guests.
The taco as we know it today is the result of an evolution from the simple tortilla filled with meat. It
gained popularity that it has become the most known and well loved Mexican food of all time.
Tacos can either have soft shells or hard shells, both have fillings of meat (or beans), vegetables and
cheese. Soft shell tacos are the not crunchy ones flexible and moldable. A soft shell taco can retain
freshness even when in travel; only it can get soggy because of the salsa filling. It can be eaten with
hands with less spillage, as long as it is not overfilled. A hard shell taco is the one which has that
crunchy u shaped tortilla. The shell may break so easily so it is best to consume it once prepared.
Here is a recipe of the breakfast tacos, more popularly known as the PUFFY TACO which originated
from San Antonio, Texas. The following are the ingredients: 1 cup Hash Brown Potato mix with
Onion

Persuasive Essay On Cyber Warfare
What is cyber warfare and what has been known about it? Well, not much has been brought into the
attention of the people because of interest that is set from all sorts of media. It has come to the
attention of news that seeing is more captivating than what can be understood in a different level.
There is less to be known when it comes to the cyber world, even though it is an ongoing part of what
we are today in regards to technology and communication, without it, things become way harder than
what they used to be, less simple than what they originally were. Cyber warfare is just the tip of the
iceberg on attacks that can cause harm to America and its fundaments that is in relation to the cyber
world. Cyber warfare is primarily internet based issues that associate with politically influenced
attacks on information and their systems, those attacks can potentially do things such as deactivate
official websites or networks, steal or modify classified data, and debilitate the financial structure,
among many other things. The only way to know the full extent is to conduct the research yourself and
found out what has been going on with the cyber aspect of the world. In order to expand your
knowledge for things cybernetic, there must be a drive to find more because the media will do little to
none in providing details of the next cyber attack or malicious hardware unless it is affecting
important corporations or business of the like.

Friday Night Lights By Lewis Lapham
At times Odessa had the feel of lingering sadness that many isolated places have, a sense of the world
orbiting around it at dizzying speed while it stood stuck in time...300 miles from the rest of the world
(33). Odessans don t mind the isolation because they have high school football to wrap their lives
around. In 1988, H.G. Bissinger moved to Odessa,Texas and had the up close and personal
opportunity to study a small southern town and see how high school football affected the lives of its
residents. In the same fashion, writer Lewis Lapham studied how sports affect people from all over the

After all, the Permian school district gerrymandered the boundary lines in order to get as many black
kids to play on their football team as possible. However, they only convinced themselves of their
tolerance. When almost all minorities lived behind the barrier, over the tracks, excluded from white
interaction outside of school, it is hard to believe that the love for sports triumphed over racism. On
the field, blacks were welcomed for their athletic skill. Off the field, it was back over the tracks where
they belonged. Blacks knew what the tracks represented: Symbolically and physically, the tracks were
still a barrier and still defined an attitude (92). The school and team integration covered the racism that
was still clearly present in Odessa. The former principal of the black school said that [t]here s no
integration, there is desegregation. There is no integration in this community, the same as any
community in America (98). The townspeople of Odessa know in their hearts that true integration
doesn t exist, but it didn t matter because the government saw that Permian high school finally became
integrated and allowed blacks and Mexicans to play on their sacred sports team. In this case, football
wasn t just a game. The integration of the team was a blanket to cover all of the racism and separation.
At the end of the day, sports didn t save the minorities; they had to go back to the rough side of town.

Air Superiority In The Military

achieved when friendly operations are able to proceed without prohibitive interference from opposing

condition for success. Air superiority provides freedom from attack, freedom to attack, freedom of

Controversy Of Shakespeare
DeVere or Shakespeare?
Abstract: The debate over the legitimacy of the authorship of Shakespearean works has been disputed
for centuries. While many scholars have held beliefs that Shakespeare s works have been written by
figures such as Christopher Marlowe, Francis Bacon, William Stanley, and others, the most heated
debate today is between William Shakespeare and Edward DeVere, the Earl of Oxford. Each side of
this debate has many followers, the Stratfordians, or those who claim Shakespeare to be the true
author, and the Oxfordians who believe that true credit should go to DeVere. My paper, far from being
a complete analysis of the possibilities of Shakespearean authorship, attempts to summarize and
rationalize the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the ideas of the true identity of Shakespeare have differed over the years in an almost trend like
fashion, a very popular idea has surfaced over the last century. The most prolific debate today is
between the Stratfordians, or those who claim Shakespeare to be the true author, and the Oxfordians,
those who claim Edward DeVere, Earl of Oxford, to be the true author.
The first question to ask in such a circumstance is why doubt exists. For instance, no scholars question
the works of writers and philosophers such as Montisqueu, Hobbes, or Locke. Why then, is there any
question as to who wrote Shakespeare? It would seem to most people that the name on the plays
should logically be the name of the author. Stratfordians claim exactly this fact as one of their
strongest arguments. The only problem with this seemingly simplistic argument lies in the spelling
differences between the man named Will Shakespere and the name written on the plays, William
Shakespeare (Whalen 8). In fact, the records of (Shakespere s) lifetime almost always spelled his
name Shakespere while the names on the plays were always spelled Shakespeare, about half the time
with a hyphen which generally denoted a made up name or pseudonym (Whalen 8). Such a slight
difference may seem insignificant, but for those who doubt authorship, this is a way of questioning the
very basis of Stratfordian claims that authorship is inarguable, and introducing the possibility of

B. Naval Power (military)
The British Industrial Revolution was the height of technology. British productivity was
ahead of the rest of the world by a large amount. Thus making it an economic world power.
So how did the Industrial Revolution loosen the grip of slavery? The answer, technology
was becoming more efficient than slavery. Before technology, it would take a lot of slave labor
to make x amount of widgets. Now with technology, a small amount of labor could make more
widgets than that of massive slave labor. Technology made slavery less efficient, and at the same
time, technology created a new class of people.
The huge number of products being produced had to be sold by a merchant class ( middle class ).
Before the Industrial ( I. R. ) there was no real middle class. 97% were poor, 2% middle, and 1%
wealthy. Now with the I. R. we have a large middle class, like never seen before in the history of the
world.
The I. R. also allows for leasure time. Maslow theory of heirical needs ( number 1) is survival.
So before the I. R. the largest class of people were poor. Their only concern was survival and

Sufi Commentaries On The Qur An Of Classical Islam

who have written extensively on the subject before her, adding that she sees the goal of this book to be
a further elucidation and examination of these accomplished studies. Since Sufism s nascent days, the

order to emphasize contrast and difference between traditional tafsir and Sufi commentaries.
In the second half the book, the author focuses on Quranic commentaries regarding select Quranic

Factors Affecting A Decrease in Battery Life
It is difficult to compare accurately burn times/lighting durations between different manufactures
hands free lighting products since each manufacturer s reference figures that show their product
offering to have an advantage over competitive products. Some manufacturers state statistics of burn
time calculated to times long after the emitted light output is useful (down to the last photon). Petzl
clearly states it operates a policy whereby it ceases to consider a light effective when the lighting level
(for standard hands free lighting) decreases below 0.25 lux at a distance of 2 metres. This figure is
selected as an approximate equivalence to the lux value generated on a dark night by a full moon.
They consider this light output the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Temperature of operation is a major factor that determines the possible burn time of a headtorch. All
batteries depend on an electrochemical process whether charging or discharging and these chemical
reactions are dependent on temperature. Nominal battery performance is usually specified for
temperatures between 20°C and 30°C (Petzl test at 20°C) however performance can deviate
substantially if not within this temperature range. As the ambient temperature rises, electron mobility
increases thus increasing the batteries ability to deliver current values. This effect can be amplified by
relative humidity surrounding the battery, which amplifies high temperature values. As temperature
falls, so does the batteries ability to deliver current. At the upper end of the temperature range, the
high temperatures may also initiate irreversible chemical reactions and electrolyte reduction, which
can cause permanent damage or complete failure of the battery. At the lower end of the scale the
electrolyte may freeze, although above the freezing point the chemical reaction may still be
significantly slowed. The range of temperatures in which hands free lighting devices are used,
fluctuations will likely occur, however to what extent will depend on the user. Primary lithium
batteries are very effective at maintaining effective operation at lower temperatures.
How long since the battery was manufactured or recharged will influence

not only be scary the child, but can also cause anxiety for the parents due to the fear of their child s
condition. Luckily, many causes of chest pain are usually benign and rarely can be a sign of cardiac
disease. With this in mind, providers should complete a preliminary evaluation for chest pain, decide
on differential diagnoses, and than develop an appropriate plan. Providers should also be aware of the
most likely causes of chest pain in children, which include reactive airway disease, musculoskeletal
pain, esophagitis, gastritis, and functional pain (Hay, Levin, Deterding, Abzug, 2014). Will all of those
in mind, by far the most common cause in children is chest pain from a musculoskeletal injury. The
initial evaluation should include a detailed history and physical examination to help guide the provider
to the proper workup, and rarely is there a need for laboratory tests or evaluation by a specialist (Hay,
Levin, Deterding, Abzug, 2014). First finding out when the pain started, last month, last year, and so
forth, will be of high importance, then once a time frame is establish, details about the most recent
episode should be obtained. The provider should ask how long the pain lasted, what made it
better, made it worse, and then move on to what brought on the pain, with arm movement, breathing,
dizziness, particular activity and so forth. Once the cause

Steve Wozniak Contributions
Engineer, inventor, computer programmer are three elements that describe Steve Wozniak. Many
people know that Steve Wozniak an engineer of Apple, but he was so much more. As a well known
engineer of Apple, Steve Wozniak, showed Americans that technology could benefit them in their
daily lives. His legacy showed us to don t give up when you fail.
The early life of Steve Wozniak s call to change started when he figured out that people could not
afford to buy a lot of technology, so he wanted to help. His parents taught him to always try his best in
everything he does. His dad, Francis Jacob Wozniak, came from Michigan and was an engineer.
Because of the job he had, it caught Wozniak s interest so Wozniak wanted to learn more. (Wozniak

One of the goals he achieved was finally finishing a device that hacks into phone lines to make free

showing that he achieved his goal to earn money and use that money to go to college and learn about
technology and engineering. (Seiter, Website) The technology he made and the goals that were a
success were all achievements that he had finished during his lifetime.
Steve Wozniak s career was full of traveling and excitement. Steve Wozniak attended so many
colleges. He first went to Colorado for college in his first year, then De Anza Community College for
his second year, and then for his 3rd year, he went to Berkeley. (Wozniak and Smith, pg 71 and 119)
He graduated with a bachelor s degree in electrical engineering and computer sciences. (Seiter,

A Non Indigenous Social Worker
I really enjoyed this week s readings as I was able to gain a better understand of topics that I have
never discussed before. As a non Indigenous social worker, it is necessary to understand the aboriginal
people s history and the impacts faced from the residential school era. According to Walmsley (2009)
although the last residential school closed in 1996, their influence is omnipresent in Indigenous
communities today (p. 98). This really struck out to me, not much has been done to address all of the
issues. I had no previous knowledge of the discriminatory provisions of the liquor policies. These
readings really helped in furthering my understandings of impaired health. My volunteer experiences
involved working with aboriginal women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By being honest in saying, I am sorry, I do not understand this or could you please tell more about this
can really help in building trust worthy relationships. Like Walmsley (2009) said one way to optimize
learning is to choose a cultural guide, someone who is respected by all, knowledgeable about the
community and with whom a non Indigenous social worker can develop an open trusting relationship
(p. 104). This could be a band social worker, band councillor, or Elder. They are able to provide more
insight and knowledge then what I would generally expect to gain from academics. Just as it is
important to understand other cultures, it is as important to know my own culture. It helps in
understanding why I believe the things I do and recognize the concepts that have shaped my own
thinking. In a sense, these are my feelings and thoughts about how I was raised or the things I liked or
didn t like about parenting. These values are based on my own experiences of what I believe is
effective childcare and ways in which children should be taught, guided, supported and disciplined
(Walmsley, 2009, p. 104). For instance, I relate this to something we discussed in class about hitting
your child. I have been slapped as a child; it was a form of discipline at times which I think is
justifiable (like the times I would refuse to not take medication which was going to help me feel
better). Hence, as a social worker the term slapped

How Does Macbeth Become Evil
In William Shakespeare s famous play, Macbeth, the main character Macbeth is a man who has many
characteristic traits within him. He shows ambition, bravery, self doubt and has a small trait known as
evil. Evil is what urges people to damage either someone or something. In the beginning of the play
Macbeth was known as being a hero after winning the war for Scotland. He was known as the Brave
Macbeth and a Worthy Gentlemen. A great warrior like Macbeth was later badly equipped for the
mental consequences of crime. Macbeth s flaws of becoming evil was due to Lady Macbeth, the three
witches, and his action. Lady Macbeth is the main reason Macbeth starts to become evil. She becomes
greedy and arrogant when she tries to manipulate her husband.

The Secret Intelligence Branch Of The Shin Bet
If there is one thing true about this documentary is the depressing, and pessimistic nature of it. The
Shin Bet, Israel s equivalent of the FBI act as the secret intelligence branch that serves to protect Israel
from behind the scenes, and Unseen Shield, if you will. The six ex leaders of the Shin Bet all portray
the recent decades of Israel s undercover militaristic organisation by retelling some of their past
actions and experiences. All six tell of their actions, that would shock us uninitiated civilians, with
surprising bluntness. One man seems like the typical gentle grandpa wearing suspenders, who is
subsequently called a bully and a monster, another younger man is very collected yet obviously
troubled by the job. And then there is also Ami the bald gaunt man who likes to quote intellectuals. All
speak about the political history of Israel and how they re work has fundamentally changed them. One
of the most important change they face is their entire strategy involving the Palestinian issue. Their
tactics need to change from simply removing extremists to diplomatic solutions. At the very beginning
of the film the man Yuval Diskin introduces the most thought provoking theme of the documentary, it
s unnatural to have the power to give the word and end a man s life in an instant. In these moments
when a person has to decide between taking the shot and killing a known terrorist and potentially
innocent lives around him, or decline and let the man go on to do some

To measure current and potential customer s awareness of this establishment. Using random digit

reduce the chance of frame error because random digit dialing allows us to contact all potential
participants with telephones, not just those listed in the phone directory. By using our own telephone

In an effort to decrease non response bias, we will attempt to contact each participant a maximum of
four times. The questions will be dichotomous, and there will be some sort of trial incentive to

Gender Discrimination
Our social justice issue is gender discrimination. Gender Discrimination is a major thing going on in
our world today. Therefore, gender discrimination happens in things such as sports, education, health,
employment, laws, and in different countries. Gender discrimination was a major thing in the past, and
is still a major thing today. Men continually think women are weak, and so women are targeted more
in crimes. They also think that women won t stand up for themselves, and women continually let men
bring them down because they aren t brave enough. In jobs they believe women won t work, and that
women aren t capable enough to do the job, so women end up getting paid less or have to work
ridiculously short hours. Today in our century, women are targeted more than men because they are
considered weak. Being labeled weak makes women are more vulnerable to at least one form of
abuse. 1 in 3 women are abused in some form at a time of their life by a man. Women are targeted for
crimes, such as home break ins, because if they live on their own, they are thought to not be able to
defend themselves that well. Women are also being killed all the time. In India, women are burned to
death if they can t meet financial requirements, while men aren t. In Egypt, women are killed if they
do something considered unclean in their family or outside their family. In South Asia more than 2

and wrong in behavior . You can see the evidence of morals in every activity, choosing to be honest or
to lie, possessing respect or showing contempt, exhibiting kindness or inconsideration, all are
examples of moral code. Many may argue that there is dualism in the world, two opposing principles,
either good or evil, and others may take the stance of monism, stating that it is only necessary to

Mondavi Analysis
Robert Mondavi and the Wine Industry Analysis EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Robert Mondavi
Winery became one of America s most innovative, high quality winemakers in the late 1960s and
early 1970s. There are over 1 million wine producers worldwide and no winery accounted for more
than 1% of global retail sales. Because of this and the fact that there are many substitutes, there is an
issue to try to gain economies of scale and become a leader in the wine market. Wine tends to stay it
its local region, which makes it harder to compete with its substitutes. In the strategic analysis portion
of this case analysis, we discuss Porter s Five Forces and how they affect the Robert Mondavi Winery.

Wine consumers hardly think about price when it comes to buying. For the lower grad cheaper wines,
the power of the buyer is greater; but when in comes to premium brands of wine, the power of the
buyer is low. 4. Threat of New Entrants The treat of new entrants is low. The cost to start a vineyard is
really expensive. Most wine firms have been around for a while and are some sort of family business
or a major corporation. So their industry know how, economies of scale advantage, and learning curve
cost advantage makes them hard to imitate. Plus when you start a vineyard, there is no payback for at
least five years. 5. Threat of Substitute Products The treat of substitute products is high for the wine
industry in general. Wine is not the number one alcoholic beverage in the world. Consumers drink
beer, liquor, distilled spirits, and other drinks when wanting to consume alcohol. Vineyards are now
being bought out buy liquor and beer companies, such as Gallo and Diageo. There are many substitute
products for wine. PROPOSED SOLUTIONS In 2001 there were over 1 million wine producers
worldwide, and no firm accounted for more than 1% of global retail sales. Because of this, it would be
nearly impossible for the Robert Mondavi winery to dominate sales in any region. Due to Mondavi s
efforts, the winery became one of America s most innovative,

unique positioning of Asian Americans during the past and present realities in order to analyze those
oppressive forces, which worked to deny citizenship and immigration rights during those years. Many
researchers related in the field of education that have been working to disappear the model minority
stereotype also find that the perception held by the public is more laborious and may take more time to
overcome within higher education circles, where the label of Asian American excellence seems to be
at its highest because of its social and economic implications which are attached to educational

as explained in Nancy Gibbs article Generation Next. I hugely agree that the generation gap is at an all

Americans are forced to be more educated, they feel technology bridges a gap, and while still being
conventional the way they are conventional makes the gap even larger. Gibbs states Young Americans
are now more educated... and [yet] less likely to have a job than previous generations. I agree that
Millennials are certainly more educated then previous generations but as a result not having the right
education makes it difficult to find a job. My uncle, who is currently 82, was able to quite school in

Rationale
Although I wasn t in Mississippi during the Freedom Summer , I had a solid understanding of how life
was during the Freedom Summer . This was years of racism and segregation towards the blacks in the
US during the Civil Rights Movement. My aspect type was racism, and I learned of its impact on life
through our analysis in the class of The Color Purple (1982) by Alice Walker, an epistolary novel
about the lives of black people in rural dominated white racist Georgia during the 1920 s 50 s.

serious violence, from the police and others in Mississippi my passion for the cause drove me to join.
What happened in the 1962 elections should never be repeated. Imagine, only 6.7% of eligible black
voters registered, the lowest in the whole country!
In orientation, we were taught (with a guest appearance of Robert Parris Moses, the director of the

Mississippi. Here, African Americans realize their history and constitutional rights. Nevertheless the
most valuable thing we teach is black voting rights. Believe me, being dedicated to nonviolence in the
midst of violence is a passionate commitment.
Our goal is to help out in the freedom school in Mount Zion Methodist Church in Longdale. With a lot

In this project, I will be comparing the life of Anne Frank to mine.
Firstly, I will give a brief timeline of the main events that took place in her lifetime. Then I will begin

Annelies Marie Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany, just 60 years before I was, 1929. During the
first three years of her life, The
Great Depression happened. The National Socialist Party began to gain support. In 1933, Hitler was

Otto Frank is the soul survivor from the annex.
Anne had a fairly middle class life up until she moved to Holland.
There she made new friends, but lived a lesser lifestyle. The only comparison I can think of is when I
moved to middle school. I was the only one to go to Lindisfarne from my first school, it was hard at
first, but I soon made new friends. Obviously moving countries is much harder than schools so I can
only imagine what it would have been like for Anne.
It wasn t long before her eleventh birthday, around the same time that
Jews were starting to be erased from Germany. At this time, Anne had to go to an all Jewish school.
This was her first experience of other people hating her because of her own religion.
Anne wasn t able to speak to her friends, go to the cinema/theatre, go shopping, use a telephone or
even go to the park. All of her everyday activities and rights were taken away. If this happened to me,
I don t know what I would do to keep entertained.
All this time spent in Holland, her father had foreseen what was happening and was planning to go
into hiding. It finally happened in
1942. Anne was thirteen and had received the famous diary, her elder sister; Margot had been called in
for a work camp. This was the final signal Otto needed. They moved into the secret annexe on July

The Impact Of Neurobiology On A Person s Behaviors And...
Understanding Neurobiology As a social worker, it is important to be aware of neurobiology of the

daily with people who seek therapy to address thoughts and actions that occur in their everyday life. In
order to provide best practice, it is important to have understanding of how neurobiology plays a role
in the development of a person s behaviors and thought processes. Four aspects of brain development
that are particularly important for a social worker to be aware of are affect regulation, implicit

It is through the earliest interaction between an infant and the caregiver that an individual s affect
regulation begins to be generated. The mutual affect regulation displayed by the caregiver and the
infant allows the infant to learn and internalize how to regulate intense emotions. An infant s brain
structure and function becomes implicitly embedded with the modes of early affect regulation through
the neuronal structures that allows the individual to have appropriate modes of relating throughout life
(Applegate Shapiro, 2005). The goal of affect regulation is to increase the positive affects and
decrease the negative affects.
A mechanism in the brain that has contributed to the creation of Javier s behaviors would be the limbic
system. The limbic system is considered to be the center of emotion (Applegate Shapiro, 2005). The
three key regions of this system are the orbitofrontal cortex, the anterior cingulate, and the amygdala.
The amygdala is a part of the brain that is considered to be important to affect regulation. The
amygdala is utilized to identify, understand, and interpret emotions. It plays a role in the automatic,
rapid, and early detection of affect (LeDoux, 2000). It is considered to be important in regulating
emotion and guiding emotion related behaviors.
Javier appears to have struggled with developing appropriate affect regulation due to the

The Effect Of Western Culture
Article Summary This article is focused on the effects of western culture, particularly the modern
ideals of ultra thin bodies, on non western women. The author, Jaita Talukdar, decided to spend some
time in India in order to conduct research on the topic. During her stay, she discovered many different
things about these Indian women, including what motivates them to want to lose weight, their opinion
on the current standards of beauty in western culture, and how these ideals have become ingrained into
their culture. Talukdar touched base on the existing research by Suzanne Brenner regarding beauty
standards in non western cultures, such as the idea of an in between mindset the ability of a person to
actively participate in both traditional and modern worlds and alternative modernity which centers on
the internal conflict to apply modernity while still conforming to the rules of tradition (Talukdar 112).
These concepts were the starting point for her investigation, influencing the questions that she chose
to ask. Alternative modernity was what inspired her theory of speculative modernity, in which a
woman critiques both the traditional and modern ways before applying them to her life. Previous
researchers like Hesse Biber chose to focus on how the western pageant circuit and the beauty
industry brought these ideals into India, following the loosening of the strict traditions that came with
the globalization of the country in the twentieth century. However, these

Golden Retrievers Pros And Cons
The Golden Retriever is a popular breed of dog that was used as a retrieving dog while hunting wild
fowl in the past. It is one of the most common dogs for families now as it is very tolerant, easy to
handle and doesn t require much from the owners besides exercise, food and visits to the vet. Though
known to get along well with other dogs and people, they sometimes get human traits and then are not
very fond of other dogs. Due to its friendly nature, Golden Retrievers are not good watchdogs.
However, they are liked for their fondness of people.

They continued to breed as they were the idea of the best hunting dog. The idea was to create a dog
that was not only powerful but gentle and affectionate towards people.
Unfortunately since they are often profitable dogs, many corrupt breeders don t take care of them and
they are prone to quite a few diseases. Hip dysplasia is a common problem in the breed, along with
von Willebrand s disease and cataracts. Potential owners should check to make sure that the parents of
the dog had healthy hips as well.
Since purebred Golden Retrievers are in high demand, many are sadly abandoned by owners who no

which try to rescue and adopt these abandoned Golden Retrievers. They are often placed in foster

Fiscal Issues In Canada
Summary Canada currently faces a number of significant fiscal challenges that require leadership,
strategy, and a commitment to take the actions needed to protect the country s future prosperity. This
briefing note outlines the greatest fiscal challenges facing the federal government and offers
recommendations for addressing these issues. Declining commodity prices around the world, along
with one of the world s strongest links between oil production and currency (McNeely, 2015) places
the country at considerable risk. An economic slowdown in China has led to a major decline in global
commodity prices. At the same time, geo political conflict has led to some OPEC member states like

It is recommended that Canada adopt and implement a more active fiscal policy and cut interest rates
to ensure the prices of commodities remain low. Low commodity prices can potentially stimulate
demand over time and boost exports, benefiting the country s economy, including its beleaguered
commodities sector. At the same time, tax incentives for business and consumers to pursue alternative
energy projects could further stimulate the economy and lead to strong consumer confidence in the
levels of permanent income increasing over time. Buttressing short term efforts such as cutting interest
rates with tax incentives to promote long term growth and a shift toward a more diverse economy
could help Canada address both its short term and longer term economic woes. Moreover, this two
tiered approach would likely generate an increase in consumer spending as the government s approach
would promote greater confidence in a more diverse Canadian economy being able to grow over time,

face. Animals are sexually abused, physically abused, neglected and even psychologically abused, but
it does not seem to be taken as seriously as human abuse. Domestic violence, school shootings,
murders and other forms of violence are also topics that seem to come up far too often in everyday
life. These criminals that have committed heinous crimes against humans all got their start
somewhere, and for many of them animals were where their abuses started. This paper will discuss
what animal abuse is, how animal abuse and violence are linked, how people evolve into the criminals
they are today through some sort of animal abuse, the warning signs of future abuse, and how we can
help these mentally ill individuals. Animal abuse, defined by the MSPCA, is Cruelty to Animals. The
infliction of physical pain, suffering or death upon an animal, when not necessary for purposes of
training or discipline or (in the case of death) to procure food or to release the animal from incurable
suffering, but

The Ethical Implications Of Artificial Intelligence
I just wrote on the ethical implications of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.); However, I could not pass up
the chance to write about how A.I. is making a difference in the treatment and management Cancer.
When I think of Artificial Intelligence, I think about robots, but A.I technology is and has been part of
our lives for a very long time. It is in our computers, our phones, our watches, even in our homes. I
have a thermostat that learns the temperature that we like to keep our house at. It even detects when
we are not home and will adjust the temperature according. I really didn t think about A.I. technology
in this way, but a program that learns and responds to what ot learns is definitely intelligent. Charlie
Rose reported on A.I. and cancer care during the 60 Minutes broadcast on October 9, 2016. I do not
understand why the public only hears about the extraordinary technology that is being invented and
implemented in society. We should hear about all the the advances that the companies make. The
public has the right to know about the technology that could be used to improve lives, not just when it
might seem awe inspiring, like this broadcast was. 10 years ago IBM decided that Watson, a
supercomputer made up of 90 servers and 15 terabytes of memory enough capacity to process all the
books in the American Library of Congress (Rose 2016), should be programmed to go up against
Jeopardy champions. Watson can read one million books per second, but the trick

Percy s Essay A River Pilot Looks At The Mississippi
Walker Percy s The Loss of a Creature details his idea of what he calls the preformed complex: biases
that people form as a result of experiences created by experts. Experiences such as a tour of the Grand
Canyon, reading a sonnet in a college poetry class, or the dissection of a dogfish in biology class are
all packaged and shaped by experts, according to Percy. Experts do this for sightseers so that they can
better understand experiences the way experts want them to. In Mark Twain s essay A River Pilot
Looks at the Mississippi he examines the perception of the Mississippi from the perspective of the
passengers of the steamboat and the pilots of them. Percy s experts and sightseers seem to be very
similar to Twain s pilots and passengers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Percy, sightseers aim to compare real life experiences with other s experiences that have
influenced their preformed complex. Percy claims that when a sightseer says Why it is every bit as
beautiful as a picture postcard! He feels he has not been cheated (Percy, 47). The sightseers aim to
receive some sort of confirmation that they were not cheated by the experience. The pilots on the river
have a preformed complex about what the significance of each element of the river should be which
causes them to lose sight of the beauty the elements hold. River pilots could feel cheated by the river
if it did not provide any indication of what the conditions were as then the river did not fulfill its duty
to the river pilots. The nature of this relationship is very transactional for both the pilots and the
sightseers: they look for it to be worth some sort of currency and in their case the currency is time.
The time they give to the experience should be well used for somethings that is up to their
expectations. These expectations differ between the pilot and sightseer as the pilot expects information
whereas the sightseer expects a comparison. This relationship is key to both parties understanding and
interpretation of the

The Island Of Doctor Moreau
Benjamin Rush once stated that freedom can exist only in the society of knowledge. Without learning,
men are incapable of knowing their rights (Rush and Runes N.p). Throughout time, ethically
controversial sciences, from vivisection to stem cell research, have embodied a negative stereotype in
the eyes of western societies, and have consequently withdrew the freedom that allows scientists to
make innovative discoveries. In H.G. Wells novel The Island of Doctor Moreau, this perspective is
portrayed through Edward Prendick, an upper class English gentleman with a subtle passion for
science. After being stranded on a remote pacific island isolated from civilization, Prendick s
perspective on Dr. Moreau s unethical and controversial studies begins to transform over time. The
idea that isolation from civilization can result in the freedom to explore one s curiosities is portrayed
through Prendick s initial unacceptance of Moreau s vivisection, which, as time on the island elapses,
reshapes to one of interest. In The Island of Doctor Moreau, as Edward Prendick spends more time
away from civilized society, his perspective regarding Dr. Moreau s ethically controversial discipline,
vivisection, begins to shift from a sense of repugnance to one of enthusiasm. Through these
perspectives, H.G. Wells argues that Prendick s isolation from civilization is the principle force
allowing him to freely embrace the unethical studies on the island and explore his natural curiosity for
science,

From December 1st to the 31st there are many holidays celebrated. Christmas and Hanukkah both
play huge roles in this season. They may have many differences, but they both make us come together
as a whole and make memories that last a lifetime. It s the most wonderful time of the year! As many
people sing throughout the season. All around the world there are many who look forward to
celebrating their religion. But do we know the true meaning of Hanukkah and Christmas? Christmas is
a christian holiday that celebrates the birth of jesus. Who they believe is the son of god. God sent him
to come to serve and teach about his father and his religion. However, Hanukkah celebrates the eight
candles that stand lit on the mendora for a whole eight days. Antiochus (a king) tried to take over
Israel and force them to practice his religion. He destroyed all buildings and items that were to
practice other religions. But a group of jewish soldiers fought back and won Israel. When going
through the buildings they were shocked to see the candles on the menora still lit, and stayed lit for 8
days. They saw this as a sign of god. But, they do have things in common. Hanukkah and Christmas
involve gift giving and other unique rituals. Both bring families together, promote goodwill, ... Show

Hanukkah and Christmas are both well known for their decorations, but they do have very distinct
ways to display their religion. Hanukkah often uses blue and silver colors. There most common
decorations are the menorah and the star of David. One decoration that is not uncommon is a
chocolate gelt and dreidel. However, Christmas often is represented by red and green colors.
Decorations they include are green evergreen, fake snow, white colors, ornaments, tinsel, mistletoe.
But, probably the most famous decoration is a Christmas tree. With ornaments and a angle or a star on
top. One thing the holidays do have in common is they hang and string bright lights

Summary Of Sudden Shortage Of People
People Gone Missing
I pick up my daily newspaper from the mail, and begin reading. It s titled Sudden Shortage of People .
What s going on? I think. My next door neighbor Amethyst (she s 16 and I m 14), is hanging up her
Christmas decorations. I smile, wave, and say Looks good! as I walk up my front steps. Thanks, Lily!
she replies with a wide smile. Something about that smile makes me flinch for a moment. I think there
s a quick glow of red in her eyes... Whatever, I m probably just seeing things or something. Nobody s
eyes glow red, I think to myself so I just shrug and let it slide.
I pause momentarily and notice that her Christmas decorations looked oddly familiar. That s it! They
look exactly like my own; I just haven t found ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I decide to run for it, soon after spotting a huge robot army following me. They all evacuate the
basement, charging after me. I always thought something about her was mysterious. I guess now I
finally get to find out. What the heckle speckle?! I shout and I try to dodge the lasers the robots are
shooting at me, but it s quite difficult. My vision is blurred with every possible color of the rainbow
spectrum. Too... Bright... I manage to mumble before I scurry away like a ferret.
GET HER, NOW! Amethyst commands her robots. Especially you, Robert the robot! she screeches.
I run off into the wilderness, keeping hold of my Christmas decorations. There s a forest near my
house, and I quickly run outside of the trail. My daily walks have finally paid off. I knew this forest by
heart.
Where s Lily?! Amethyst scowls in frustration. We had her just a minute ago! However, her voice
sounds very distant. I think I ve lost her.
Just to be safe and confirm she won t come back for me, I continue running. I happen to come across a
warrior sword. It s faintly glowing blue, and it s stuck in a tree trunk. I notice a flamethrower resting
on the ground by my feet, and I pick them both up in relief. I deflate my Christmas decorations and
shove them in my bag. Then, I continue running.
There was a strange sound up above, so I turn around in curiosity. What the heckle speckle?! Right
behind me was Amethyst and Robert the Robot with their

Celiac Disease And Celiacs Disease
Celiacs disease (gluten sensitive enteropathy) is a condition where in some people, gluten cannot be
digested and causes an immune response. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, oats, and rye. In
some people who take in and ingest gluten, an enzyme named transglutaminase transforms the gluten
into a chemical that triggers an immune reaction, causing irritation and inflammation of the lining of
the small intestine (Wedro, 2016). The microvilli that make up the inside surface of the intestine are
destroyed, causing nutirents to pass without being, like our body needs from our diet. This can cause
damage to other organs in the body due to malabsorption. (Wedro, 2016) Organs that depends the
most on nutrients to function properly consist of the liver, bones and the brain. This is crucial
especially in children because malnutrition can lead to abnormal growth and development. (Wedro,
2016) Celiacs disease can also be known by Coeliac Disease. Roughly 8,000 years after its first
appearence, celiacs disease was identified and named. A Greek physician named Aretaeus of
Cappadocia who lived in the first century AD, wrote about The Coeliac Affection. Also, he called it
koiliakos after the Greek word koelia meaning abdomen. (Guandalini, 2007) Another 17 centuries
passed, and in the early 19th century Dr. Mathew Baillie, presumably unaware of Aretaeus, published
his observations on a chronic diarrheal disorder regarding adults, causing malnutrition and
characterized by a

  • 2. Tips For A Successful Career What should you do to forge a successful, gratifying career? Briefly explain each of the four dimensions that should be considered. Where do you need to improve? What is your plan to accomplish your improvement? To forge a successful career you should be a specialist, a generalist, self reliant , connected and also be able to actively manage your relationship with your organization and be able to survive and thrive in the world. According to the text it is said you should be a specialist and a generalist, since in your career you do not just want to be a specialist, you want to advance up and get into higher positions in which your responsibility increases, you will deal with more people and and understand if not all at least more areas of the organization. To be a specialist you need to be skillful expert in a particular valuable area which will help give the firm and the customers a more concrete and knowledgable value. To be a generalist means to have a wide range of knowledge about diverse areas in the organization. To be self reliant means to be autonomous and take responsibility for your own actions. • 3. Serial Killers Of Jack The Ripper Jack The Ripper was a serial killer in East End London, in the late 1888 s. No one knows who it is to this day. There are several theories to who it could be, most are males but there is still a little doubt that could have been a woman, maybe both? The only thing that is known for sure these women were victims of him or her. Jack The Ripper was known for the way he murder, he left cuts on both sides of the neck and made the knees or legs of the women up towards her chest or in the air; in some cases he would destroy the body so bad that it was hard to identify who the victim was. One of the only reasons police knew who the victims were in because Jack would write notes to the police office or the newspaper company telling them who was killing next but not when. Jack The Ripper was a man of pattern and rountie. His killings were all almost alike and his victims had profiles that matched each other s. Jack had five victims, who were all women; the women had a couple things in common, all but one of the women were in their 40s, they were all drinkers, and most of the five women were known to be in the business of prostitution. All five victims were found dead in poorly lit alley ways or stairways, with their necks cut on either side and other lacerations throughout the body. According to Josh Clark, this is what happened to the five victims of Jack The Ripper. Mary Nichols was the first victim, found on August 31, 1888 at 3:45am. Mary was 44 years old who liked her drinks. She was found in a narrow side street of Buck s Row in the Whitechapel; she had an eight inch laceration to her throat that cut both of her major arteries and she had violent cuts on her abdomen. Annie Chapman was the second victim, she was found on September 8, 1888 at 5:45am. Annie was a 47 year old widow who was a heavy drinker and survived through prostitution. Annie was found outside an apartment at 29 Hanbury Street with a man of shabby genteel , a few minutes after her being spotted with the man, a muffled scream of No! followed by a loud thump on the fence. Her body was found in the backyard of the apartment, with her feet pushed up toward her body, knees in the air and spread apart. Her throat was cut deeply from left to right, ... • 4. Hyperuricemia Hyperuricemia is a common human metabolic disorder in the production or excreation of uric acid , it leds to increase in serum uric acid levels more than the normal values (Haidari et al., 2012). Uric acid is the last metabolite of the purine catabolic pathway in humans. Uric acid is formed by oxidation of hypoxanthine to xanthine and xanthine to uric acid by the enzyme xanthine oxidase (XO). Hyperuricemia results in the deposition of urate crystals in the joint and kidney causing inflammation, gouty arthritis and uric acid nephrolithiasis (Tomita et al., 2000; Kong et al., 2002). The increasing risk of hyperuricemia also has been demonstrated in several studies that elevated serum uric acid levels predict the development of obesity and hypertension (Johnson et al., 2009; Perez Pozo et al., 2010), hyperlipidaemia, cancer, and diabetes (Lin et al., 2000). Gouty arthritis is a worldwide disease which is intimately associated to hyperuricemia, whereas this disorder is characterized by precipitation of monosodium urate crystals in the joints ... • 5. The Death Penalty Should Be Illegal Since their declaration of independence, America had incorporated many aspects of Great Britain s culture; one of those aspects include the death penalty, which began in 1608 at the time of the Jamestown executions. The death penalty, a topic discussed since it began, includes death by electric shock, gas chamber, hanging, firing squad, and, most commonly used, lethal injection. In 2014, it took an Arizona man two hours and fifteen times the normal amount of medicine to die with lethal injection. Knowing that the outcome of the death penalty may cause immense pain, the use of the death penalty should be illegal in all states throughout the United States. Criminologists have long discussed if homicide rates lower due to executions, or if life long imprisonment would have a greater effect. But only around 10% of criminologists believe that research does indicate a decrease in homicide rates with the death penalty (Recent Developments, Radlelet and Lacock). There has been little to no change in the opinions of these specialists from 1996 to 2008. Some research even indicates that the death penalty increases the number of murders committed. The U.S. has a higher rate of deaths by handguns than other countries, so by having higher regulations on the use of guns, they could lower their rates with this alternative. Regulating guns has become a another important issue because many people think that when the constitution says the people in amendment two, it means the people of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay Chopin Sonata NO. 3 MUS 404: Keyboard Literature June 22, 2010 Piano Sonata No. 3 in b minor, Op. 58 by Frédéric Chopin Chopin s third sonata is a masterwork filled with pianistic elements, daring harmonies, experimental form, and a wealth of expressivity. In this four movement work, references to other Chopin compositions and influences from fellow composers are found. At the same time, there is a progressive element; it looks forward to the heights which would be achieved by Chopin and later composers. Background Chopin wrote the Sonata, Op. 58 in 1844, several months after the Berceuse, Op. 57. The Berceuse provides inspiration for the slow movement (Samson, Chopin 23). It was an uninspired composition, a failure, and largely forgotten (Huneker 166). Movement 1: Allegro maestoso The first movement of the third sonata is the most experimental, the one which deviates most from Classical form and harmonies. The exposition, in particular, is more like a fantasy than a sonata. The sonata opens quite promisingly. A descending broken chord followed by ascending march like chords creates the primary theme (mm. 1 4). As soon as this theme is established, it is lost by a transition. The transition (mm. 12 16) is derived from the opening theme. Traditionally, the transition should segue way into the second theme. However, this transition leads to another idea, which is characterized by majestic chords (mm. 17 18). This melodic idea is equally promising; it has the potential to serve as the primary theme which had been cut short. Unfortunately, it only holds for two measures before it is swept away by a descending chromatic scale in sixths. The listener would perceive the slow moving idea (mm. 23 29) which follows as the second theme, if it were not for its fleeting mysteriousness. It provides a contrast to the majestic themes which opened the movement. The harmonic ambiguities, created by the chromaticism, are very progressive for the Romantic era. This chromatic section is only the beginning of a lengthy transition (mm. 23 40), composed of at least ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the field, blacks were welcomed for their athletic skill. Off the field, it was back over the tracks where they belonged. Blacks knew what the tracks represented: Symbolically and physically, the tracks were still a barrier and still defined an attitude (92). While many scholars have held beliefs that Shakespeare s works have been written by figures such as Christopher Marlowe, Francis Bacon, William Stanley, and others, the most heated debate today is between William Shakespeare and Edward DeVere, the Earl of Oxford. Each side of this debate has many followers, the Stratfordians, or those who claim Shakespeare to be the true author, and the Oxfordians who believe that true credit should go to DeVere. While the ideas of the true identity of Shakespeare have differed over the years in an almost trend like fashion, a very popular idea has surfaced over the last century. The most prolific debate today is between the Stratfordians, or those who claim Shakespeare to be the true author, and the Oxfordians, those who claim Edward DeVere, Earl of Oxford, to be the true author. The first question to ask in such a circumstance is why doubt exists. For instance, no scholars question the works of writers and philosophers such as Montisqueu, Hobbes, or Locke. Why then, is there any question as to who wrote Shakespeare? It would seem to most people that the name on the plays should logically be the name of the author. Stratfordians claim exactly this fact as one of their strongest arguments. The only problem with this seemingly simplistic argument lies in the spelling differences between the man named Will Shakespere and the name written on the plays, William Shakespeare (Whalen 8). In fact, the records of (Shakespere s) lifetime almost always spelled his name Shakespere while the names on the plays were always spelled Shakespeare, about half the time with a hyphen which generally denoted a made up name or pseudonym (Whalen 8). Such a slight difference may seem insignificant, but for those who doubt authorship, this is a way of questioning the very basis of Stratfordian claims that authorship is inarguable, and introducing the possibility of ... Temperature of operation is a major factor that determines the possible burn time of a headtorch. All batteries depend on an electrochemical process whether charging or discharging and these chemical reactions are dependent on temperature. Nominal battery performance is usually specified for temperatures between 20°C and 30°C (Petzl test at 20°C) however performance can deviate substantially if not within this temperature range. As the ambient temperature rises, electron mobility increases thus increasing the batteries ability to deliver current values. This effect can be amplified by relative humidity surrounding the battery, which amplifies high temperature values. As temperature falls, so does the batteries ability to deliver current. At the upper end of the temperature range, the high temperatures may also initiate irreversible chemical reactions and electrolyte reduction, which can cause permanent damage or complete failure of the battery. At the lower end of the scale the electrolyte may freeze, although above the freezing point the chemical reaction may still be significantly slowed. With this in mind, providers should complete a preliminary evaluation for chest pain, decide on differential diagnoses, and than develop an appropriate plan. The Shin Bet, Israel s equivalent of the FBI act as the secret intelligence branch that serves to protect Israel from behind the scenes, and Unseen Shield, if you will. The six ex leaders of the Shin Bet all portray the recent decades of Israel s undercover militaristic organisation by retelling some of their past actions and experiences. All six tell of their actions, that would shock us uninitiated civilians, with surprising bluntness. One man seems like the typical gentle grandpa wearing suspenders, who is subsequently called a bully and a monster, another younger man is very collected yet obviously troubled by the job. And then there is also Ami the bald gaunt man who likes to quote intellectuals. All speak about the political history of Israel and how they re work has fundamentally changed them. One of the most important change they face is their entire strategy involving the Palestinian issue. Their tactics need to change from simply removing extremists to diplomatic solutions. At the very beginning of the film the man Yuval Diskin introduces the most thought provoking theme of the documentary, it s unnatural to have the power to give the word and end a man s life in an instant. In these moments when a person has to decide between taking the shot and killing a known terrorist and potentially innocent lives around him, or decline and let the man go on to do some ... Gender discrimination was a major thing in the past, and is still a major thing today. Men continually think women are weak, and so women are targeted more in crimes. During her stay, she discovered many different things about these Indian women, including what motivates them to want to lose weight, their opinion on the current standards of beauty in western culture, and how these ideals have become ingrained into their culture. Alternative modernity was what inspired her theory of speculative modernity, in which a woman critiques both the traditional and modern ways before applying them to her life. Without learning, men are incapable of knowing their rights (Rush and Runes N.p). Throughout time, ethically controversial sciences, from vivisection to stem cell research, have embodied a negative stereotype in the eyes of western societies, and have consequently withdrew the freedom that allows scientists to make innovative discoveries. In H.G. Wells novel The Island of Doctor Moreau, this perspective is portrayed through Edward Prendick, an upper class English gentleman with a subtle passion for science. After being stranded on a remote pacific island isolated from civilization, Prendick s perspective on Dr. Moreau s unethical and controversial studies begins to transform over time. The idea that isolation from civilization can result in the freedom to explore one s curiosities is portrayed through Prendick s initial unacceptance of Moreau s vivisection, which, as time on the island elapses, reshapes to one of interest. In The Island of Doctor Moreau, as Edward Prendick spends more time away from civilized society, his perspective regarding Dr. Moreau s ethically controversial discipline, vivisection, begins to shift from a sense of repugnance to one of enthusiasm. • 47. Summary Of Sudden Shortage Of People People Gone Missing I pick up my daily newspaper from the mail, and begin reading. It s titled Sudden Shortage of People . What s going on? I think. My next door neighbor Amethyst (she s 16 and I m 14), is hanging up her Christmas decorations. I smile, wave, and say Looks good! as I walk up my front steps. Thanks, Lily! she replies with a wide smile. Something about that smile makes me flinch for a moment. I think there s a quick glow of red in her eyes... Whatever, I m probably just seeing things or something. Nobody s eyes glow red, I think to myself so I just shrug and let it slide. I pause momentarily and notice that her Christmas decorations looked oddly familiar. That s it! They look exactly like my own; I just haven t found ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I decide to run for it, soon after spotting a huge robot army following me. They all evacuate the basement, charging after me. I always thought something about her was mysterious. I guess now I finally get to find out. What the heckle speckle?! I shout and I try to dodge the lasers the robots are shooting at me, but it s quite difficult. My vision is blurred with every possible color of the rainbow spectrum. Too... Bright... I manage to mumble before I scurry away like a ferret. GET HER, NOW! Amethyst commands her robots. Especially you, Robert the robot! she screeches. I run off into the wilderness, keeping hold of my Christmas decorations. There s a forest near my house, and I quickly run outside of the trail. My daily walks have finally paid off. I knew this forest by heart. Where s Lily?! Amethyst scowls in frustration. We had her just a minute ago! However, her voice sounds very distant. I think I ve lost her. Just to be safe and confirm she won t come back for me, I continue running. I happen to come across a warrior sword. It s faintly glowing blue, and it s stuck in a tree trunk. I notice a flamethrower resting on the ground by my feet, and I pick them both up in relief. I deflate my Christmas decorations and shove them in my bag. Then, I continue running. There was a strange sound up above, so I turn around in curiosity. What the heckle speckle?! Right behind me was Amethyst and Robert the Robot with their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Celiac Disease And Celiacs Disease Celiacs disease (gluten sensitive enteropathy) is a condition where in some people, gluten cannot be digested and causes an immune response. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, oats, and rye. In some people who take in and ingest gluten, an enzyme named transglutaminase transforms the gluten into a chemical that triggers an immune reaction, causing irritation and inflammation of the lining of the small intestine (Wedro, 2016). The microvilli that make up the inside surface of the intestine are destroyed, causing nutirents to pass without being, like our body needs from our diet. This can cause damage to other organs in the body due to malabsorption. (Wedro, 2016) Organs that depends the most on nutrients to function properly consist of the liver, bones and the brain. This is crucial especially in children because malnutrition can lead to abnormal growth and development. (Wedro, 2016) Celiacs disease can also be known by Coeliac Disease. Roughly 8,000 years after its first appearence, celiacs disease was identified and named. A Greek physician named Aretaeus of Cappadocia who lived in the first century AD, wrote about The Coeliac Affection. Also, he called it koiliakos after the Greek word koelia meaning abdomen. (Guandalini, 2007) Another 17 centuries passed, and in the early 19th century Dr. Mathew Baillie, presumably unaware of Aretaeus, published his observations on a chronic diarrheal disorder regarding adults, causing malnutrition and characterized by a ...
