Synthesis And Testing Of Aa2014 Al2o3
Synthesis And Testing of AA2014 Al2O3(alpha) Nano Composite
Abstract Al2O3 reinforced Aluminium Matrix Composites give advanced mechanical physical
properties. They have voluminous applications in automobile, aerospace, defense, sports, electronics,
bio medical and other industrial fields. Various manufacturing techniques like stir casting, ultra sonic
assisted casting, compo casting, powder metallurgy, liquid infiltration are used for the production of
the aluminium matrix composites. These composites reveal advanced physical and mechanical
properties like lower density, low coefficient of thermal expansion, good corrosion resistance, high
tensile strength, high stiffness, high hardness and wear resistance. Our paper reviews the
characterization of mechanical properties like tensile strength, hardness with production route of
casting for aluminium matrix Al2O3 composites. Al2O3 agglomeration along with the increasing
volume percentage is still a challenging task in composites materials manufacturing. 0.5% by weight
of pure magnesium powder is used as wetting agent. Process parameters are optimized for the stir
casting process of aluminium composite. Tensile and hardness test microstructure study was
performed to find the deviation from the aluminium alloy.
Keywords: Agglomeration, stir casting, aluminium composite.
I. INTRODUCTION
The use of Aluminium alloys in aerospace and automobile industries are remarkable due to their low
density and good mechanical properties.

Objectivism and The Fountainhead Essay
Objectivism and The Fountainhead
How should we live our lives? Do you live for others or for yourself? What do you deem to be the
ideal: selflessness, or selfishness? Why? Ayn Rand s novel The Fountainhead addresses these issues
and her philosophy behind it called Objectivism. Her rebellious rhetoric is to convince us that the only
true virtue is selfishness and that we should abide by its standards and live for ourselves.
Ayn Rand was from the Soviet Union, and her background helps us to understand her rhetoric about
why she preached her philosophy. Born in Russia, and a hater of the revolution, Ayn Rand dreamed of
America as an Eden of individualism. When she got there becoming first a Cecil B de Mille extra,
later a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Objectivist states that this is the only world we can know. It is irrelevant if there is a heaven, or a
hell, or life elsewhere. We know what we do through our senses and reason. What we perceive with
our senses we know to be real (Garmong). Existence exists and the act of grasping that statement
implies two corollary axioms: that something exists which one perceive and that one exists possessing
consciousness, consciousness being the faculty of perceiving that which exists (Rand qtd. by Peikoff
1)
The second point addresses the idea that thinking is the path to knowledge. The Objectivist rejects the
idea, stated by Plato, that all we know is that we know nothing. Emotions, feelings, and premonitions
are not concrete and therefore are rejected as sources of knowledge. Concrete evidence dictates
certainty thus rationalizing knowledge (Garmong). The third point is the ethics of Objectivism:
rational selfishness and the pursuit of our own happiness. We are the beneficiaries of our own actions,
and we shouldn t let others dictate our lives (Garmong). Thought requires selfishness, the fundamental
selfishness of a rational faculty that places nothing above the integrity of its own function. A man
cannot think if he places something anything above his perception of reality (Rand qtd. by Peikoff 5).

Murad IV made Pope Urban VII look like a pushover his punishment for breaking the ban was death.
King James I of England was no fan of tobacco either, so he picked up his pen. In 1604, James wrote
the treatise A Counterblaste to Tobacco, and he didn t pull any punches, writing, What honour or
policie can move us to imitate the barbarous and beastly maners of the wilde, godlesse, and slavish
Indians, especially in so vile and stinking a custom? (King James, 1604).
As the years progressed, smoking became more and more acceptable. Nazis aggressively tried to
suppress tobacco usage but their ban fell with them, as during World War II and the immediate
postwar years, smoking was actively promoted in most aspects of society. One only has to review the
movies of the 50s and 60s to see that in almost every scene the hero or the heroine is smoking a
cigarette. Even, King James s attacks on smoking over 3 centuries ago (Eckholm, 1977) have been
vindicated.
As a result of this, the tobacco companies and society have been very effective in promoting smoking
as being socially acceptable. This may seem all the more peculiar, given that most smokers believe
smoking is hazardous; indeed, even in 1968 (Horn, Note 1), 53% of smokers reported that they would
like to stop. That the antipathy does not necessarily depend on scientific data is evident from the
response of Solomon Islanders and Saharan Africans: Though uninformed of the evidence

Realism In International Relations
Realism is not a new concept. Classical Realism has its roots firmly placed in ancient Greece at the
time of Thucydides where in the History of the Poloponneasean War he wrote The strong do what they
have the power to do, the weak accept what they have to accept (Thucydides 1972: 402).
Thucydides is thought to explain the role of power within politics at this early stage (Donelly, 2000)
through to the time of Machiavelli in the 16th Century. Stanley Hoffman is quoted as saying that the
theory is ...probably the most distinguished school of thought in the history of international relations
(Hoffman, 1988 p.6). Whilst Realism, as a concept, has helped to define International Relations by
fostering the notion that power is the only political gain to be wanted, Robert Gilpin sees it as a ...
philosophical disposition and set of assumptions about the world rather than as in any strict sense a
scientific theory (Gilpin, 1984 p. 290). Realists are unified in believing that Power and survival is
fundamentally the most desired thing between the universal actors: The States. The theory is built on a
basis of pessimism and that that politics is a tussle for both power and survival and labels politics on
an international scale as a series of recurrent conflicts among states with very little prospect for
change (Jackson and Sorensen, 2007). Whilst there are similarities which bind the different veins of
realism together, this essay will look at those different veins within the

Social Media Limitations
Today, many companies and corporations utilize social media in order to reach a bigger audience in
hopes of gaining more customers. Social media s role in our day to day lives is increasing ever so
rapidly, especially for millennials, but that begs the questions: What role should social media have in
one s professional life? Should there be parameters put in place, and if so, what limitations should be
placed on the ever present social network? When in a professional environment social media should
be somewhat separated. The sole purpose of why social media platforms were created was to give
people something to occupy themselves when they have nothing else to do. In a professional
environment, you should be free from all distractions so you can focus on your job and furthering your
career and shouldn t concern yourself or others on what other people are doing. If social media is a
element that gets in the way of bettering yourself or the place you work for, then you re better off
without that factor in your life. Parameters and limitations could be put in place just to make sure
nothing gets out of hand like what happened to Justine Sacco and her insensitive tweet about AIDS
that got her fired. She faced the consequences of her actions, but that tweet continued to haunt her for
years to come as she was distanced from her family, couldn t hold a job, and stalked by obessive
paparazzi. Her professional life as well as her social were shattered right before her after

Alterations: Comparing the Changes Caused by Marriage of the two Bessie Head Short Stories, Life
and Snapshots of a Wedding
Marriage is the union of two people, traditionally husband and wife. Traditional also are the roles that
women play when confined in a marriage. When a woman has had the opportunity to educate herself
pass tradition and has been use to a fast paced modern lifestyle, this role of the wife might prove to be
quite onerous to mold to. Usually a time of joy, celebration, and adulation, marriage may also bring
along emotional and physical pain as well as awkward situations, as the woman must alter herself to
conform the traditional role of what a wife should be. Bessie Head depicts two modernized, educated

Being strong and independent women no longer matters as the men that they will call their husbands
enter their lives. Lesego and Kegoletile both represent the male figures and the change that Life and
Neo must endure as they conquer marriage. Lesego represents the authoritative male that is respected
by all the people of the rural village for his wealth and judgment. Life is attracted to
his power and control, but clearly underestimates them. It is with this man that Life decides to change
her ways. Life who represents all that is nontraditional clashes with the traditional Lesego.
His purpose is to marry Life and turn her into a proper village wife, one who does not throw loud
parties, and does not fornicate with other men (Kerschen 3).
Life, because of her nature is willing to try new things, welcomes the challenges that marriage bring.
The challenge of becoming a wife, which is a serious one, quickly alters Life s daily activities. All
parties cease and her mouth tell others that she has changed. All my old ways are over...I have now
become a woman (Head 353), is how Life exposes her transformation as a new wife. Kegoletile is not
nearly as overbearing and demanding as Lesego, but still provokes change in Neo. Perfectly fine with
her prissy ways manner she is forced to change when her aunt gives her a rude awakening concerning
a marriage with

My Options for the Sports Brand Sponsors
Marketing Sponsor
Sponsors support organizations or events financially, and in return, they ask the organizations to
advertise their logo. It is up to the organization to find different ways, through which they can
advertise the brand. The sports franchise I work for, wants me to find sponsors and the way those
sponsors should advertise. Following is the information related to the current brand, which is
sponsoring the company and three more brands which I have found for the franchise and the ways in
which their logos are going to be advertised.
Current Sponsors and how they are used
The current sponsors, which the sports franchise has is Sky Sports; Sky Sports is a famous sports
channel, where matches of different sports are shown. The current way in which the logo of Sky
Sports is being displayed is through T shirts. Every athlete wears a shirt, on which the logo of Sky
Sports is printed. As sports events are shown on national or international television, the logos are seen
by everyone, who watches the sports event. Moreover, when athletes are called for interviews, they
usually wear their sports jerseys, on which the logo of Star Sports is displayed, giving more exposure
to the brand.
First Sponsor
The first brand which I would approach to sponsor the sports franchise is XBOX; XBOX has captured
the attention of a vast audience, as it is fun for the children and the young. The way through which the
sponsor logo of XBOX would be used is through an application of XBOX, on

The Scale of Values in Alexander Pope s Poem The Rape of...
The Scale of Values in Alexander Pope s Poem The Rape of the Lock
I found Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock a delightful, amusing poem. Throughout the poem,
trivialities are compared with events and objects or consequence and the insignificant is treated with
utmost importance. Its very title gives the reader an immediate clue; rape and all its connotations bring
to mind a heinous crime of physical and spiritual violation. Perhaps this description could apply to the
theft of a lock of hair, but only in a world where normal morals are perverted. This skewed scale of
values is shown repeatedly throughout the poem, and supporting this alternate world are the sylphs. As
the souls of former coquettes, the sylphs exist solely to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, the word militia brings to mind an imposing, well regulated army, rather than a gossamer
grouping of sprites bent on protecting beauty and virginity.
It is sylph Ariel that foresees the dread event of the poem s title. Ariel says to Belinda: Warned by the
Sylph, O pious maid, beware! / This to disclose is all thy guardian can: / Beware of all, but most
beware of man! (1.109, 112 14). Man, of course, is the coquette s eternal adversary. A lady must be
very careful; men may be allured and teased, but as prey they can be unpredictable.
Following this warning Belinda wakes and begins the transcendental toilet, one of my favorite scenes
in the poem. Pope elevates Belinda s morning preparations to the level of High Mass; a mystical,
spiritual experience in which miraculous transformation takes place. In this ritual, however, cosmetic
powers rather than cosmic powers are relied upon. (1.124). With the aid of the sylphs, Belinda begins
her grooming:
And now, unveiled, the toilet stands displayed,
Each silver vase in mystic order laid.
First, robed in white, the nymph intent adores,
With head uncovered, the cosmetic powers.
A heavenly image in the glass appears;
To that she bends, to that her eyes she rears.
The inferior priestess, at her altar s side,
Trembling begins the sacred rites of Pride. (1.121 28)
Here we see an example of the utmost importance of the superficial in the absurd

Depreciation and New Equipment
Point of View
This case study is discussed from Paperco, Inc. point of view of whether they should avail the tax
benefits and cost savings in replacing the mechanical drying equipment.
Recommendation
Based on the analysis below in this memo, Paperco should purchase new mechanical drying
equipment now in advance in anticipation of the passage of new tax legislation. Purchasing the
equipment now maintains a positive Net Present Value for the capital project if the legislation is not
enacted, or if the new legislation is enacted and the capital project is contracted early enough so that it
is grandfathered in. With tax legislation grandfathered, the project gets the benefit of the new lower
corporate tax rate and the old ACRS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paperco would retain all tax credits due to the fact the machine has been in service for 84 months, and
use a 5 year ACRS depreciation model for the new equipment. This option has a positive NPV of
$2,619,745.
Option II in which the new tax proposal is enacted. The new equipment is installed in December 1986.
Paperco signs a binding contract soon enough to be grandfathered , this allows Paperco to receive the
8% tax credit and use ACRS depreciation. At the same time, their tax rate would fall to 34%. Paperco
would benefit from this more favorable grandfathered tax approach. Option II has a positive NPV of
$3,414,104.
Option III in which the new tax proposal is enacted and Paperco installs the new equipment in
December 1986, but they do not sign a binding contract in time to be grandfathered and receive the
8% investment tax credit and use ACRS depreciation. The company will use MACRS and a
depreciation period of 7 years. The NPV of the project with this timing and structure is $3,228,044.
Without the grandfathered tax allowance, the new tax legislation makes the project unattractive based
on lower Net Present Value.
Calculations

Option I: New legislation is passed and Paperco

Software Reusability
Software reusability
TERM PAPER
Software reusability is generally considered a way to solve the software development crisis. When we
solve a problem we try to apply the solution to similar problems because that makes our work easy
and simple. Now in this paper I would like to cover important aspects of software reusability. But one
thing is for sure software reusability can improve software productivity. Software reuse has become a
topic of much interest in the software community due to its potential benefits, which include increased
product quality and decreased product cost and schedule. The most substantial benefits derive from a
product line approach, where a common set of reusable software assets act as a base for subsequent ...

And it s not just a technical issue; it is highly managerial in nature. As much as libraries of reusable
code and other assets are important, they will not be fully utilized without management and process
support of reuse.
Organization and Process
The classical software development process does not support reuse.[2] Reusable assets should be
designed and built in a clearly defined, open way, with concise interface specifications,
understandable documentation, and an eye towards future use. Typically, customer, client, and contract
projects are built as one time only, without reuse in mind, and tend to be tightly bound within
themselves, without the more robust open interfaces which ease the reuse process. Therefore, in order
to make the most of software reuse, the software development process must evolve to include reuse
activities.
A strong organizational foundation must exist for reuse to succeed, since domain engineering involves
a different way of looking at software products, called a product line approach. A product line is a
family of similar products addressing a particular market segment, or domain, and provides a massive
opportunity for reuse. With a reuse process in place, every

Personal Standards Of Right And Wrong Essay
Ethics refer to your personal standards of right and wrong. Ethics do not change as you move from
one society to the next. IT managers have quite a number of ethical issues confronting them each time
they are running their departments. These issues are becoming challenging each day as technology
becomes more and more advanced. There are more questions asked than answered as managers face
more and more daunting challenges in information technology. There are five main categories of
particular interest to technology. Ethical issues on the usage of IT and the challenges that managers
face generally refer to privacy and intellectual property. Each has an important impact on the way
managers and other business professionals act or react. Attention has to be given to these issues.
Internet ethical issues have a direct connection with the business world Ethical issues in IT differ from
general ethical issues in a variety of ways. Parker, Swope and Baker noted that ethical problems
involving computers pose a special challenge, for a number of different reasons. Various ethical issues
are: Ethical dilemmas ,Plagiarism , Piracy, Hacking , Computer crime, Viruses, Ergonomics/health
issues, Job displacement/work pressures imposed on computer professionals, Digital divide ,Gender.
Privacy Privacy in the usage of IT is a major challenge to IT Management. The major question that
haunts managers is Does information s availability justifies its use? . Many organization/ companies

Mark s Views On The Gospel Of Mark
It is believed that the Gospel of Mark was written in the time period of 66 through73 CE, sometime
during the Jewish Revolt. Mark makes reference to the destruction and rebuilding of the temple in
chapter thirteen of his writings. He references other events that happened during the time period of the
Jewish revolt later in the same chapter. These events were the fleeing of the people to the mountains
and the hardship the admirers of Jesus in Palestine had during the Jewish Revolt. Mark s proposed
audience of his gospel are considered to be a mixture of Jews and Gentiles, those that were rich and
poor, those of that were of the upper class of citizens and the lower class of people and early leader of
the church. Mark used the Hebrew Scriptures which indicate that the audience had knowledge of the
Jewish teachings and beliefs. He also explains certain Jewish Palestinian traditions and practices
which a Gentile would not have the knowledge to understand. Also Mark s writings are in Greek,
which may be an indication that the audience is outside of Palestine. An example of this is Mark 5:41,
Mark used the verb egeiren, which translates from Greek to mean arise. The literary source that were
available to Mark during the time of his writing of the gospel were Paul s letters to the Thessalonians,
the Septuagint, the Church and the stories that have been passed down through the generations.
Evidence of scripted sources available to Mark would be the miracle story such as

The Future Electric Cars Are Becoming More Popular

With the advancing future electric cars are becoming more popular. Electric cars are said to be
pollution free and one hundred percent environmental friendly. These cars are not the solution to
reduce air pollution and global warming in the near future. Electric cars create large amounts of
pollution indirectly. This is from the coal fired power plants used to generate the electricity and the
lithium mine sites, which is where the mineral lithium that is used to produce the car s batteries comes
from. These situations cause just as much pollution because they burn some source of fossil fuel to
create the energy and extract the minerals.

This power is generally collected from coal fired power plants. Each one of these power plants are
responsible for three and a half million tons of Co2 per year. The United States alone produces nearly
ten billion tons of CO2 from coal fired power plants. This is nearly one third of the 38.2 billion tons of
Co2 produced by all sources. These cars are also limited on their range. A typical electric car can only
travel around one hundred twenty five miles miles before being recharged. The disadvantage of
electric cars is that they usually can travel no more than 100 miles. (Haverdink). Therefore using more
electricity, causing the power plants to make more. Another disadvantage of electric cars is the time
they take to charge. For example, The major disadvantage of battery powered cars as we mentioned in
the last section is the time required to recharge the batteries. (Lampton). Rather than a gasoline car
that you just fill up you have to plug these cars in. This typically takes up to eight hours, putting the
electric car behind on long distance road trips. The electric car s also need a special outlet to plug into,
not found in typical homes. This cost extra money to have installed and if you need to charge
somewhere it is hard to find. Also the electricity used to charge the cars isn t free.

How Far She Went The themes in this story are generational shortcomings or curses, how families
relate to one another including how far we are willing to go for those who love us, and it also touches
on what it s like to be a rebellious teenager. Conflict drives this entire story. At the beginning, the main

Compare And Contrast The Diving Bell And The Butterfly
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly was written but Jean Dominique Bauby, who following a stroke that
resulted in locked in syndrome. He was then able to write a book, but he had a nurse write it while he
used a tactic of blinking for which letter to use. Sadly, he died in 1997 and a movie was made after his
popular memoir The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Mathieu Amalric, who was able to capture the
essence of who Bauby was post stroke made the movie exceptional, but not whole. After experiencing
both forms of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, I feel like the book version portrayed the locked in
syndrome more effectively than the film because it s coming from a man who was truly locked in,
giving the readers the ability to visualize what could be happening, while accounting for actual events
that took place. When the 43 year old man finds out he is only a mind who is able to blink he
immediately thinks of his two children and his father. Who in turns is pretty much locked in too, while

Differences Between Hamlet And The Lion King
Fairy tales have helped children deal with things they fear. Now a days, the fairy tales children are
aware are not the Hans Christian Anderson, Studio Ghibli or Brothers Grimm, but Disney. Disney has
taken the typification portrayal in the fairy tales, make it a reality and took it to entertainment industry.
Comparing the original narrative to the Disney version, most of the stories have went through
retellings and alternation; for example Hamlet and The Lion King. Disney has inadvertently neglected
these stories origin and motive. Many agree and have picked up The Lion King, Disney s most
watched and victorious movie till date, as Disney s only original movie; the only movie which is
previously has not been a fairy tale. However, this is not the true. While The Lion King may not be
based on a fairy tale, it is a matter of fact strongly based on the play by William Shakespeare called
Hamlet . Disney creative writers adroitly disguise the basic character ... Show more content on

Defining Art Essay
As an artist I constantly find myself bombarded with the question of What is exactly art? Normally I
m a person who can answer any question with ease, but this one caught me off guard. So I began
thinking to myself what is exactly art? I didn t really have an answer to that right away. So after more
thought I realized that art is anything you want it to be. Art isn t merely a drawing or a painting. Art is
how you express yourself when words aren t enough. Art can be a memory caught in time. Art can be
the sounds or lyrics you hear of everyday music. I finally realized to me art was an expression and a
whole other language. Art is creating something to become attached to. Art is the company that keeps

Anything means seeing the shapes of clouds that look like that beautiful landscape you saw earlier that
day. It can also be that old incomplete painting half covered by that tarp that you ve always meant to
finish. The point is that you get across what you need to say. It doesn t matter how it looks like. There
s no such thing as good or bad art. It s just what you want your viewer to understand or see from the
picture. It s anything that expresses your feelings or imagination. Art is breathing life into something
you create. It s like your child that you cradle in your arms and to nurse it to life. To create a body, to
give it flesh and bone and breathe life into its shadowed eyes and form a personality through
expression, this cannot be done from nothing. It s created from the very paint of your soul, the
material expression of your feelings. It s derived from the very being of you. You are the God of your
own work; you gave it a beating heart. It helps you purge the soul of your feeling all the bad and good.
It can create a lovely piece of art or something dark and terrible depicting. Art has numerous purposes
to many people. Some use it as a hobby to experiment with media. Others have a way of using it for
commercial purposes. Back in the day it was used to tell a story. To some it s a form of entertainment.
It s to make people happy and put a smile on faces. To others

Factors Of Vitraya Ramunong And The Tree Of Souls
There are five important factors to Ingold s argument. First, the occupied world consists of things,
each an accumulation of the threads of life, and not of objects which are considered as bounded,
independent and absolute entities. Per Ingold (2010: 2) To create things, per Aristotle, involves a
bringing together of a form (morphe) and matter (hyle) . To illustrate this, let s consider Vitraya
Ramunong or The Tree of Souls (Avatar,2009). Where do the Tree of Souls end and the rest of
Pandora begin? Even though the question sounds quite simple, it is not easily answered. We can look
at the physical aspects first. Is the giant Willow like tree s bark part of the tree? Are the organisms
occupying the bark part of the tree? Are the woodsprites, or seeds, part of the tree? Are the creatures
occupying the tree part of the tree? Are the Na vi clans who occupy the tree part of the tree? Is the
unobtanium deposit underneath the tree part of the tree? Are the algae growing on and underneath the
tree part of the tree? Now let s consider the spiritual aspects of the tree... The Tree of Souls is not only
a connection to Eywa but also works to directly communicate with Pandora through the atokirina,

Similarities And Differences Between Heathers And Mean Girls
Movies are bound to share certain similarities and differences. Reoccurring themes, character
archetypes, familiar settings, and recycled plots are elements that are consistently repeated in films;
however, every film has individual components in which audiences are able to relate to and interpret
in separate perspectives. Two different movies that share common similarities include the 1988 black
comedy Heathers and the 2004 teen comedy Mean Girls. Although the movies Heathers and Mean
Girls take place in different decades, they are both cult classics, contain iconic quotes and characters,
and involve cliques with four members eventually revolving around a single member of the group.
A difference between the two films, would be that they take place in separate decades. Since Heathers
takes place in the 1980s, certain elements including fashion, language, and culture, are significantly
different from those featured in Mean Girls. In Heathers, the main characters are seen wearing
oversized blazers and shoulder pads, while the girls in Mean Girls sported early 2000s fashion
including velour tracksuits and jeans. The pop culture references in both films vary greatly as well
since both decades have distinctive artists, movies, and figures that were considered relevant at the
time. In addition, the different time periods in both films demonstrate the development of technology
and its usage in society. For example, in Heathers the only phones seen in the film are in the

An Anti Climax
I have been practicing this skill during the summer and continue to do it in the future. If time permits,
I will work with a staff in the Global Communication Center several times to address this problem
before the submission of the revised paper. The paper limps to an end. Pages 40 44 are an anti climax
mired in too much detail. I recommend that you eliminate most of the discussion there. As I noted in
the margins, these last pages should be devoted to summing up your argument, discussing the
significance of your findings, and pointing to the next stage in your research. I admit that this part is
redundant, but there may be other options than deleting all of them. In order to keep the story intact, I
need to emphasize that the progress of technology in the 2000s is essential to meet the accelerated
flow of remains from North Korea since the mid 1990s and the new sources of remains from the
Punchbowl cemetery. I will still present the number of soldiers identified in each year as well as the
interpretation of the increasing efficiency in identification after 2005 from the angles of improved
technology and funding. Thus, much information on Page 40 and 41 will still exist in the revised
version though some minutia, like irrelevant numbers or technical details, will be expunged. The
information on Page 42 to 44 needs significant revision. I will shorten the story of the reorganization

Power Of Personal Production By 3d Printing
Power of Personal Production Imagine that you could design a three dimensional object as quickly as
it would take to decide on material and computer design: this idea is what created the technology of
3D printing. From the conception of 3D printing in 1984, to the first stem cell transplant, 3D printing
has evolved from a sci fi like idea to a realistic addition in individual consumer lifestyles. Now instead
of relying on large manufactures to produce a special or specific good, the consumer has the power of
this production in their own home, creating individuality through cost productive methods of
production. When you produce something yourself instead of purchasing it, that changes your
relationship to it, says Chelsea Schelly, assistant professor of social sciences, of 3D printing. You are
empowered by it. This empowerment is about to spur on a new industrial revolution in the
manufacturing and distribution cycle. In essence, this printing revolution will encourage the individual
to create, innovate, and fabricate their own personal design. In order to obtain a clear understanding of
the increasingly popular scientific technology of 3D printing, it is necessary to research the history,
current discoveries, and applications; however, maybe the most important topics to be discussed are
the future directions, possible hazards, and intentions of this industry.
Although printing has been around for centuries, the beginnings of three dimensional printing can be

Hellenistic Monks
A monastic community is a place where women or men live out vows of obedience, poverty, and
chastity. The monks of Norcia are an international community with a median age of 36. This
brotherhood unites them to one to another by their common search for God. The three characteristics
of a monastery are prayer, observance, and liturgical life.
Described by the Rule of St. Benedict, the full Divine Office (Liturgy of the Hours) marks hours of the
day dedicated to the prayer life of the monks. Additional prayers such as the Jesus Prayer, the Rosary,
Eucharistic Adoration, and Lectio Divina Prayers add to the daily round of Mass and Offices as
spiritual nourishment. Aspects of observance are St. Benedict s fast, chanting of the Office, the
observance of silence, and abstinence from meat. Monks foster the reconciliation in the heart of the
Church through the careful celebration of the liturgy. The liturgy is the public prayer of the Church
that celebrates what God has done for them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

death, but also death to self. A monk is called to this daily, such as leaving family, friends, and home.

Essay on Kindred by Octavia E. Butler
Political philosopher and social theorist Thomas Sowell has once said, It takes considerable
knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance. It is inevitable to meet an ignorant person
around each corner that one turns. It is up to the victim to either let the ignorant person corrupt him or
to let the victim become smarter. One of America s greatest activists, Martin Luther King, believed
that Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. With
this in mind, The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all (Kennedy).

The Best Cost Effective Stormwater Management
The easiest and most cost effective stormwater management has already been happening here in the
metro area, which is rain barrels and rain cisterns. The Polk Soil and Water Conservation District, has
fully indorsed the rain barrels and provides forms to order the rain barrels. They are the easiest and
most cost efficient way for property owners to divert their stormwater runoff.
The ease of Rain Barrels are that the rooftop downspouts are directed to a 55 gallon (usually) barrel
that collects rainwater and stores it until needed for a specific use, such as watering plants. While
Cisterns are normally an underground container or tank with a larger storage capacity than a rain
barrel, and that is used to supplement greywater needs (i.e. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This does make cisterns more expensive, however, these cost would allow the house to use less water,
and would be able to pull in thousands of gallons of water away from the stormwater sewers.
In Chicago in 2009, there were over 2,220 rain barrels/downspout disconnections. This the calculated
would lead to over 8,281,000 gallons of stormwater were diverted from combined system annually.
This means that the city of Chicago was able to use these very simple and inexpensive stormwater
mitigation methods to greatly reduce the amount of stormwater that the city was producing. Rain
barrels and cisterns are a stormwater prevention system that the property owners in the metro can and
already have started to incorporate into their properties.
Green Roofs are primarily installed to reduce the amount of stormwater runoff and to protect water
quality. There are two main types of green roofs based on the plant material, extensive or intensive.
Extensive green roofs are characterized by lower weight, lower installation cost, lower plant diversity,
and minimal maintenance. Intensive green roofs are characterized by deeper soil and greater weight,
higher installation costs, increased plant diversity, and greater maintenance, however, they are
accessible to the public and provide green space for activities in an urban setting.
Green roofs provide many benefits for the urban landscape. They help reduce noise that is created in
the cities, filter out air pollutants

Human Deficence In T. S. Eliot s The Hollow Man
Another famous and influential work from T.S. Eliot is The Hollow Men. Likely influenced by World
War I, T. S. Eliot portrays a disconnect from humanity and a disillusionment with typical beliefs as a
source of human despair in The Hollow Men. The hollow men that the work is centered around are
depicted devoid of any human qualities that might provide them a relief from despair, such as hope or
faith. As is written in T. S. Eliot s Indigenous Critical Concepts and The Hollow Men by Muhammad
Khan Sangi and others, In this poem the human beings have been shown devoid of the qualities of
faith, moral strength, of personality, determination and that of humanity; they are like empty bodies,
lacking all human virtues (Sangi et al para 4). No matter how these qualities were lost to the
individuals, the result is constant and predictable: the individuals feel an inescapable despair. When
one has nothing to anticipate in life, no expectations or hopes, then life loses its meaning. This is the
world that the hollow men live in perpetually. The entire work, as Sangi describes, is a cry of despair
unrelieved by hope. The peculiarity of the poem is that it is an inner drama with the utmost economy
of words. The images echo the deadness of sensibility and the emptiness of hollow men who, like the
effigies, are fit only for burning (Sangi et al para 5). Again, the hollow men are depicted as worthless,
insofar as they are compared to effigies, the only purpose of which is to be

Indigenous lives at risk
Key Issues
According to Indaily news article, racism has put Indigenous life in dangers in medical systems as
researched by Flinders University. As stated by Professor Dennis McDermott, from the Poche Centre
for Indigenous Health and Well Being at Flinders, due to lacks of cultural safety in medical services
and Health professionals, Indigenous people are stopping their hospital treatments earlier. Professor
McDermott has spoken in the Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives
conference in Darwin. Some students are openly racist when he tries to educate them on culturally
appropriate ways to deal with Aboriginal patients.
This shows that people are in lack of education regarding cultural safety with health professionals and
within health system. Education has been acknowledged as a plan to tackle inequality to which
cultural education of undergraduate students and health professionals is successful in reducing racism.
This can ensure institutions and practitioners are delivering culturally respectful health

Cyrus the Great Essay

Cyrus II of Persia, also known as Cyrus the Great, was one of the most influential and powerful rulers
in the Ancient World.Âč By overthrowing the Assyrian empire, he was able to start the Persian Empire.
Through his superior diplomacy skills within his empire, to his genius war tactics, he built the
foundation for a line of Persian Kings to rule one of the largest empires in world history.
Cyrus the Great s(C. 600 530 BCE) expansion started in Persia, located on the southern portion of the

Babylon which was uncontested, and the King of Babylon surrendered and the people of Babylon

Cyrus had set himself apart from other rulers by compromising with his empire rather than forcing his
entire will on them. He accomplished this by allowing people that had been moved from their

Remaining Elements Of IIED Against Nicole Kidman ( Nicole )
Sally Thompson (Sally) cannot successfully state a cause of action for IIED against Nicole Kidman
(Nicole). Under Illinois law, in order to claim IIED, it must be proven that (1) the conduct involved
must be truly extreme and outrageous, (2) the actor must either intend that his conduct will inflict
severe emotional distress, or know that there is at least a high probability that his conduct will cause
severe emotional distress, and (3) the conduct must in fact cause severe emotional distress. [McGrath
at 806].
To prove extreme and outrageous conduct, there are considerations that the conduct must fulfill.
[CITE] First, the power or authority the actor has and whether or the actor abused that power.
{cite]Second, whether the actor had an illegitimate objective behind their conduct. Third, the actor
knows the other person is peculiarly susceptible to emotional distress. [McGrath at 807]. Lastly, mere
words are not enough for emotional distress; words must be so powerful that a reasonable person
could not be expected to withstand them. [Kolegas at 203].

A Study on Operant and Classical Conditioning
Operant and Classical Conditioning Classical conditioning best explains reflective responding that is
largely controlled by stimuli preceding the response, while operant conditioning is the kind of learning
influenced by stimulus events that follow the responses. (Weiten). In operant conditioning,
reinforcement is defined as after the fact. Reinforcement follows a response and increases tendency to
make the response. In classical conditioning, the reinforcement comes before the response is made and
increases tendency to make the response. A middle school teacher intercepted a note that contained
personal information, read it out loud, and the student the note was intended for leaves the class and
school, feels sick at going to school the next day, and becomes ill at the thought of the teacher. This is
a classical conditioning case. (Daniels, 2009). If the student s behavior had happened before the
teacher intercepted the note and read it out loud, it would have been a case of operant conditioning. In
classical conditioning, the student s reaction to the teacher, classroom, and the school is a conditioned
response and creates a physiological reaction. In operant conditioning, the teacher s reaction to the
student s behavior, if reversed, would have been conditioned and creates a physiological reaction.
Operant responding is controlled by consequences as response outcomes (R O) are learned. In operant
conditioning the student s response can be considered a consequence

Global Issues Regarding The Container Shipping
Global issues pertaining to container shipping continue to grow over time. Issues concerning hazards,

Cocaine smuggling in containers fell off the charts for a while, but now they are back on the rise. NY
Times comments that, containers are the dream smuggling device. They enable traffickers to move
large quantities of drugs without jeopardizing expensive light planes, boats, trucks and crews.
Shipping fees are inconsequential compared to the tens of thousands of dollars demanded by
contraband pilots, and there is no need to coordinate air drops and sometimes multiple transfers to
boats and trucks.
The Customs Service is in charge of fighting cocaine smugglers, but they are also in charge of keeping
traffic moving smoothly through ports. The customs officials say that they would like to search more
containers but it is a hard task to obtain without causing an extensive disruption. Recently though,
they have brought the National Guard into the picture. Even with their help inspectors anticipate

was it a major battle that helped end the war but also showed the power of the Continental Army s

America and was the last major battle of the war. The Continental and French forces moved to

roughly ten days of continuous artillery fire that helped demoralize the British forces, leading to their
surrender on 19 October 1781.
The lead up to the Battle of Yorktown started when Lieutenant General Lord William Cornwallis led
his army to Yorktown to try and establish a deep sea port for British use. His two year campaign
through the south fighting against the likes of General Nathanael Greene and General George
Washington took its toll on his forces. He marched his army of 7,000 troops to the harbor town of
Yorktown located next to the York River in Virginia. His original mission was to receive
reinforcements and supplies, however upon his arrival, General Sir Henry Clinton, the commander in
chief for the British forces, ordered General Cornwallis to secure the harbor and prepare for extraction
by the Royal Navy. General George Washington of the American Forces, who was encamped at Dobbs
Ferry, heard about Cornwallis heading to Yorktown while he was assaulting the town

Insanity And The Insanity Defense
The purpose of this essay is to explain why the insanity plea, or the insanity defense as it is also
known, is not a legitimate defense for any type of crime. The insanity defense has been around for a
number of years but does it make a mockery of the legal system? While many people have used the
insanity defense, it loses more times than it wins. This defense is used when someone believes they
did not know right from wrong while committing the crime. The problem with this is that it is hard to
know someone s mental state when there is not much evidence to go on. Someone can become
mentally ill after a crime or someone may have been mentally ill before a crime. Neither one of these
issues always weigh on the actual crime. A large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it is important to note that there are certain behaviors that are found to be common when
someone is depressed, depression does not facilitate itself the same way in all people. The National
Institute of Mental Health (n.d.) tells us, People with depressive illnesses do not all experience the
same symptoms. The severity, frequency, and duration of symptoms vary depending on the individual
and his or her particular illness. Understanding that there are so many different interpretations of the
word insanity, it could be argued that knowing the difference between right and wrong is not always
clear. The following syllogistic formula can be considered when thinking about this topic:
Major Premise: All people who plead insanity are admitting to a mental disease or defect.
Minor Premise: If a person has a mental disease or defect, it does not mean that he/she cannot tell
right from wrong.
Conclusion: If a person uses an insanity defense, it does not mean that he/she did not know right from
wrong while committing the crime.
Brannigan (2005) tells the story of Andrea Pia Yates. Ms. Yates was a mother of five children all under
the age of seven. While Ms. Yates was depressed, her own claim, she drowned each child one at a time
in the bathtub of their home on March 13, 2002. She admitted to killing all of the children, but she
claimed that she was not guilty by reason of insanity. She was found guilty and is now

Analysis Of The Movie Fruitvale Station
New Year s Day, 2009, a man is brutally shot by the BART Police of Oakland, California. Fruitvale
Station, written and directed by Ryan Coogler, took audiences by surprise as it resonated with twenty
two year old Oscar Grant, a man who was shot down by the BART Police. This movie takes viewers
on an emotional expedition as it takes a peek into the life and death of Oscar Grant and his family. The
struggles of originating from an African American background become apparent as Oscar Grant
struggles with steering away from racial stereotypes and the misunderstandings of racial profiling. As
the movie begins, the audience notices that Oscar Grant is portrayed as a man who is loving and
caring toward his family, but also has a history of convictions and drug dealing experiences. As the
movie continues, Grant is shown as being a doer. Acting on situations without much thought and logic,
his life has been full of risks. By depicting Grant as having two completely different sides to him, the
director does a great job in displaying his struggles with himself as he tries to become a better man for
the sake of his family. The audience is allowed to see the humanization of Grant as the film proceeds.
His character is portrayed as flawed and misunderstood which relates to the viewers on a more
personal level. The audience notices the shrinking gap between themselves and Grant as the film
continues and takes them deeper into Grant s life. The film as a whole is filmed with cinema vérité

Fear Of Manipulating A Spinal Injury
Focusing my attention back on the PL, I moved to check the one place unseen and began removing his
helmet. His head was protected, but tilting his chin back was one thing I didn t want to do for fear of
manipulating a spinal injury. It also is what finally exposed and opened the small hole in his throat
from an apparent piece of shrapnel and he began to bleed profusely. I immediately called the medic
away from one of the less seriously wounded to help me with the bleeding. I packed the wound but
loosely, not wanting to interfere with what was left of his airway and then pulled him up to my lap so I
could maintain pressure on the wound. He was still dying. Running out of options, I checked his
airway again and manipulated his tongue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shortly thereafter, he regained life signs and consciousness, attempting to sit up even. I called for a
litter and directed he be secured and ready to move, meanwhile contacting the Command Post to
provide a situation report and moving to check on other casualties at the CCP. At this time I had
twelve that needed evacuation and eight more walking wounded. There were barely enough lucid
Soldiers to pull security, but my biggest problem was that the QRF had not arrived yet. Searching for
an improvised solution for the PL who I believed was expectant at this point, I saw an Afghan
National Army truck parked nearby with a driver who seemed as though he was trying to help. I
directed that the PL be loaded onto the back of the pickup truck with two ambulatory Soldiers who
could pull security on both the surroundings and the driver. I sent the medic to monitor his airway. The
interpreter conveyed my directions to the driver to take the Soldiers straight to our Entry Control Point
at the AP, and I instructed the PL s security to take the vehicle by any means necessary if the driver did
not follow directions. Our Platoon Leader was now conscious and responsive, and I told him where he
was going and why. Less than fifteen minutes after the attack, the PL and his fight for life was on his
way to next level care. As the truck pulled off our 3rd Platoon arrived as QRF.
The QRF medic took over where ours had left off. All the casualties were stable and

Essay on Madagascar s History
Freedom isn t free (various artists sing song) is the one quote that describes the hardship and
difficulties that Madagascar has experienced, since the 7th Century all the way until their
independence in June of 1960 Madagascar and its people have been in constant turmoil. Through its
eventful past it is easy to see how Madagascar gained its history, culture, and religion, this is the
identity that the country has shifted to over this vast amount of time. Archeologists such as Jarred
Diamond, the author of Guns, Germs, and Steel , place the first humans in Madagascar as the
Austronesian people from Indonesia around 500BC. It is believed that the Malagasy people came
directly from Indonesia to Madagascar; this is evident through the ... Show more content on

It seems several of the world s greatest discoveries are on accident. Over the next several years the
French and the English attempted settlements and control on Madagascar but failed miserably, one
memorable Christmas day 1672 local tribe members attacked Fort Dauphine (the current French
colony) brutally and purposefully killing fourteen men and thirteen women. This massacre is rumored
to have been because these fourteen men deserted and divorced native Malagasy women in order to
marry younger and purer French women. This battle lasted a long eighteen months as the French
remained barricaded in their fort while the angry tribal members raged battle. In 1674 thirty remaining
men and the one widow were saved by the arrival of the French East India Company. The next several
years between 1680 and 1725 Madagascar was a famed and feared pirate cove, which during these
years hundreds of European vessels were ransacked of all their valuables and scrapped to the island, as
a result Madagascar became on of Europe s most feared shipping routes. The Merina monarchy began
about 1795 with king Andrianampoinimerina, who by marrying various princesses of different Merina
clans united the Merina kingdom and began his conquest over Madagascar. King
Andrianampoinimerina was a military genius and excellent strategist, thought to be equally respected
and feared as other great military leaders such as Alexander the Great and

The Importance And Uses Of Wastewater Treatment
Wastewater treatment is important in many ways. One reason that it is so important is because, at the
plant, they water and other things as well. In the Middle Ages in London people had laws and
regulations about waste treatment (O Neill, 2013). Without wastewater treatment most species of
animals would be extinct because the water in lakes and oceans would be polluted with human waste.
Wastewater treatment is important because it keeps the Earth clean, it recycles more than just water,
and it saves animal species from becoming extinct.
Wastewater treatment keeps the Earth clean because without it humans would not have a steady source
of drinking water. Back in the Middle Ages people were concerned about water treatment. People
were heavily fined if they were caught dumping sewage into the streets. Instead, the people would
take their buckets filled with raw sewage and dump it into nearby rivers and streams. This was
extremely unsanitary. The bacteria, or decomposers, would break down the waste but there was so
much that it took a long time. The people didn t know how disease was spread by waste. They thought
that it was by its odors (O Neill, 2013). People who owned larger houses had people come and clean
their enclosed latrines. Even further back, the Aztecs had a waste system where all of the human waste
would be used as fertilizer for their crops (Medina, 2014). Then the saprophytic bacteria would do the
rest, consuming the decomposing matter. Saprophytic bacteria

The Lady With The Pet Dog Analysis
The Lady with the Pet Dog written by Anton Chekhov and The Lady with the Pet Dog written by
Joyce Carol Oates illustrate what goes through the mind when committing adultery. Both are tales of
love lost and love found, including romances with adulterous spouses and secret meetings. The Lady
with the Pet Dog written by Chekhov and Oates present the actions and decisions of two very unhappy
married individuals, whom one could say meet by chance. In both short stories the plot line is
extraordinarily similar; both love affairs end up finding true love from each other; however, the
emotions and general idea differ from the point of view analyzed. Although both short stories illustrate
immensely similar qualities, the short story by Joyce Carol Oates is more effective in three main areas.
The three main areas where Oates story is more effective include the use of the female characters, the
use of point of views, and the use of dogs. Throughout the two short stories, both interpret the use of
the female characters excitingly different. The short story written by Chekhov interprets the female,
Anna, as the female who can handle committing adultery while only breaking down/crying a few
times. On the other hand, the story written by Oates interprets the female, Anna, as a female who can t
handle committing adultery where she cuts herself (thinking about suicide) and almost to the point
where she goes crazy. In Chekhov s story the female is best examined through the quotation: Anna
Sergeyevna and he loved each other as people do who are very close and intimate, like man and wife,
like tender friends; it seemed to them that fate itself had meant them for one another... (Chekhov 224).
This quotation by the narrator best explains that Anna Sergeyevna is a happy woman with her secret
husband and she has accepted that they have to live in secret. But, Anna is okay with that because it
seems as if fate has brought them together, although she questions it at the beginning of the story. On
the contrary, in Oates s story the female is best explained through the quotation: She was certain of
that. But the bath water made her dizzy, all that perpetual heat, and one day in January she drew a
razor blade lightly across the

Dance In Swan Lake Interpretation
Watching Silja Schandorff s fully realized performance in Swan Lake teaches much about what it
takes to make a swan, and what it takes to dance Peter Martins choreography. Schandorff, a principal
dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet and one of the originators of the role when it was created on the
Danes in 1996, replaced Miranda Weese in the dual role of Odette and Odile. I ve now seen four
women in these roles (Meunier, Weese, Whelan and Schandorff) and there s no question that
Schandorff was the best prepared, even with having to fly trans Atlantic and with perhaps a day s
rehearsal with her partner. She s now done the role for three years, but even more importantly, the
thought that struck one like a thunderbolt on even her first entrance was My God! She s actually been
*coached*! There was never a single moment Schandorff seemed left to her own devices. It didn t
look fey, or artificial and overcoached, it just didn t look thoughtless. It s not even a matter of her arms
and legs being in the right position (they were, always.) She knew who she was, whether Odette or
Odile. She knew who Siegfried was. She always knew why she danced. She knew when she was
swearing her love, when she was saying no , when she was leaving him forever. I m not trying to
denigrate Schandorff by emphasizing how much it seems she had help. She also very obviously has
excellent instincts and facility and can act. But in a full length narrative ballet like Swan Lake,
instincts are not enough,

Music Is Vital For Film From The First Silent Film
Music is vital to film from the first silent film to modern IMAX films. In order to understand the
significance of film music, it must be defined. Grove Music Online defines film music as music
composed, arranged, compile or improvised to accompany motion pictures. In the sound cinema,
music is recorded as a soundtrack on the film stock and reproduced in exact synchronization with the
projected visual image. This paper discusses the history and methods of music in film, explains the
psychological power of music in film, the advancement of technology for music in film, and provides
a few examples of composers who have written music for film. Many novice movie goers believe that
film score music and the soundtracks they listen to all began with film, but its tradition is actually
much older. The approach to writing film music goes much farther back then the first film created,
circa 1895, and even goes back farther than popular operas like Mozart s Le Nozze di Figaro in 1786.
The development goes back to the Ancient Greek theater and even further back to the ancient rituals of
the Sumerians. Understanding the history behind the development of music that leads to music in film
provides composers a starting point when beginning to build their first film score, this process allows
composers to learn from their predecessor s successes and mistakes. Many of the early works that film
music composers wrote were in the nineteenth century late Romantic style of Wagner and Strauss

The Importance of Confidence Essay
The Importance of Confidence Most of life s situations are learning experiences. People can learn
what activities are right or wrong for them by experiences these emotions in different situations. These
learning experiences can take place at home, school, the workplace, or anywhere else. The three major
experiences that have given me confidence in my ability to learn have all taken place at Penn State
University. One experience that, in the end, gave me confidence was my first semester of lessons with
the Penn State School of Music clarinet professor. The Professor was not a personable man. He was
very quick to criticize every mistake I was making and was very blunt with his comments. I felt like a
failure. I was very sensitive, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After overcoming the fear of the professor, I learned that I can do anything. Another interesting
experience that helped me gain confidence was my speech communications class with my professor,
Mrs. Larson. I knew I didn t have any trouble with talking to a group of people. I love to tell jokes and
stories to many people at one time, but I was nervous and somewhat embarrassed about preparing
some boring speech and making everyone else suffer by listening to it. Mrs. Larson explained that we
all have problems with this and that it can be overcome. I remember something simple she said that
stuck in my mind: The only way to get over the fear of something is to just do it. She was right. As I
had to go up to give the speech, her words constantly kept running through my mind. After the speech,
I realized that we were all in the same boat suffering from the same seasickness nervousness, We all
had to give speeches. No one was out to criticize anyone else and we all ended up supporting each
other! I learned that I could make a boring speech interesting if I have fun with it and feel comfortable
as the speaker of the moment. Becoming a member of the Penn State Blue Band was the ultimate
experience that gave me total confidence. The Blue Band has been rated as the #1 college or university
marching band in the country; it has a very superior reputation. I had wanted to be a member of this
band

  • 2. Synthesis And Testing Of Aa2014 Al2o3 Synthesis And Testing of AA2014 Al2O3(alpha) Nano Composite Abstract Al2O3 reinforced Aluminium Matrix Composites give advanced mechanical physical properties. They have voluminous applications in automobile, aerospace, defense, sports, electronics, bio medical and other industrial fields. Various manufacturing techniques like stir casting, ultra sonic assisted casting, compo casting, powder metallurgy, liquid infiltration are used for the production of the aluminium matrix composites. These composites reveal advanced physical and mechanical properties like lower density, low coefficient of thermal expansion, good corrosion resistance, high tensile strength, high stiffness, high hardness and wear resistance. Our paper reviews the characterization of mechanical properties like tensile strength, hardness with production route of casting for aluminium matrix Al2O3 composites. Al2O3 agglomeration along with the increasing volume percentage is still a challenging task in composites materials manufacturing. 0.5% by weight of pure magnesium powder is used as wetting agent. Process parameters are optimized for the stir casting process of aluminium composite. Tensile and hardness test microstructure study was performed to find the deviation from the aluminium alloy. Keywords: Agglomeration, stir casting, aluminium composite. I. INTRODUCTION The use of Aluminium alloys in aerospace and automobile industries are remarkable due to their low density and good mechanical properties. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Objectivism and The Fountainhead Essay Objectivism and The Fountainhead How should we live our lives? Do you live for others or for yourself? What do you deem to be the ideal: selflessness, or selfishness? Why? Ayn Rand s novel The Fountainhead addresses these issues and her philosophy behind it called Objectivism. Her rebellious rhetoric is to convince us that the only true virtue is selfishness and that we should abide by its standards and live for ourselves. Ayn Rand was from the Soviet Union, and her background helps us to understand her rhetoric about why she preached her philosophy. Born in Russia, and a hater of the revolution, Ayn Rand dreamed of America as an Eden of individualism. When she got there becoming first a Cecil B de Mille extra, later a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Objectivist states that this is the only world we can know. It is irrelevant if there is a heaven, or a hell, or life elsewhere. We know what we do through our senses and reason. What we perceive with our senses we know to be real (Garmong). Existence exists and the act of grasping that statement implies two corollary axioms: that something exists which one perceive and that one exists possessing consciousness, consciousness being the faculty of perceiving that which exists (Rand qtd. by Peikoff 1) The second point addresses the idea that thinking is the path to knowledge. The Objectivist rejects the idea, stated by Plato, that all we know is that we know nothing. Emotions, feelings, and premonitions are not concrete and therefore are rejected as sources of knowledge. Concrete evidence dictates certainty thus rationalizing knowledge (Garmong). The third point is the ethics of Objectivism: rational selfishness and the pursuit of our own happiness. We are the beneficiaries of our own actions, and we shouldn t let others dictate our lives (Garmong). Thought requires selfishness, the fundamental selfishness of a rational faculty that places nothing above the integrity of its own function. A man cannot think if he places something anything above his perception of reality (Rand qtd. by Peikoff 5). Politically and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

King James I of England was no fan of tobacco either, so he picked up his pen. In 1604, James wrote the treatise A Counterblaste to Tobacco, and he didn t pull any punches, writing, What honour or policie can move us to imitate the barbarous and beastly maners of the wilde, godlesse, and slavish Indians, especially in so vile and stinking a custom? (King James, 1604). As the years progressed, smoking became more and more acceptable. Nazis aggressively tried to suppress tobacco usage but their ban fell with them, as during World War II and the immediate postwar years, smoking was actively promoted in most aspects of society. One only has to review the movies of the 50s and 60s to see that in almost every scene the hero or the heroine is smoking a cigarette. Even, King James s attacks on smoking over 3 centuries ago (Eckholm, 1977) have been vindicated. As a result of this, the tobacco companies and society have been very effective in promoting smoking as being socially acceptable. This may seem all the more peculiar, given that most smokers believe smoking is hazardous; indeed, even in 1968 (Horn, Note 1), 53% of smokers reported that they would like to stop. That the antipathy does not necessarily depend on scientific data is evident from the response of Solomon Islanders and Saharan Africans: Though uninformed of the evidence ... • 5. Realism In International Relations Realism is not a new concept. Classical Realism has its roots firmly placed in ancient Greece at the time of Thucydides where in the History of the Poloponneasean War he wrote The strong do what they have the power to do, the weak accept what they have to accept (Thucydides 1972: 402). Thucydides is thought to explain the role of power within politics at this early stage (Donelly, 2000) through to the time of Machiavelli in the 16th Century. Stanley Hoffman is quoted as saying that the theory is ...probably the most distinguished school of thought in the history of international relations (Hoffman, 1988 p.6). Whilst Realism, as a concept, has helped to define International Relations by fostering the notion that power is the only political gain to be wanted, Robert Gilpin sees it as a ... philosophical disposition and set of assumptions about the world rather than as in any strict sense a scientific theory (Gilpin, 1984 p. 290). Realists are unified in believing that Power and survival is fundamentally the most desired thing between the universal actors: The States. The theory is built on a basis of pessimism and that that politics is a tussle for both power and survival and labels politics on an international scale as a series of recurrent conflicts among states with very little prospect for change (Jackson and Sorensen, 2007). • 7. Social Media Limitations Today, many companies and corporations utilize social media in order to reach a bigger audience in hopes of gaining more customers. Social media s role in our day to day lives is increasing ever so rapidly, especially for millennials, but that begs the questions: What role should social media have in one s professional life? Should there be parameters put in place, and if so, what limitations should be placed on the ever present social network? When in a professional environment social media should be somewhat separated. The sole purpose of why social media platforms were created was to give people something to occupy themselves when they have nothing else to do. In a professional environment, you should be free from all distractions so you can focus on your job and furthering your career and shouldn t concern yourself or others on what other people are doing. If social media is a element that gets in the way of bettering yourself or the place you work for, then you re better off without that factor in your life. Parameters and limitations could be put in place just to make sure nothing gets out of hand like what happened to Justine Sacco and her insensitive tweet about AIDS that got her fired. She faced the consequences of her actions, but that tweet continued to haunt her for years to come as she was distanced from her family, couldn t hold a job, and stalked by obessive paparazzi. When a woman has had the opportunity to educate herself pass tradition and has been use to a fast paced modern lifestyle, this role of the wife might prove to be quite onerous to mold to. Being strong and independent women no longer matters as the men that they will call their husbands enter their lives. Lesego and Kegoletile both represent the male figures and the change that Life and Neo must endure as they conquer marriage. Life is attracted to his power and control, but clearly underestimates them. It is with this man that Life decides to change her ways. Life who represents all that is nontraditional clashes with the traditional Lesego. His purpose is to marry Life and turn her into a proper village wife, one who does not throw loud parties, and does not fornicate with other men (Kerschen 3). It is up to the organization to find different ways, through which they can advertise the brand. The sports franchise I work for, wants me to find sponsors and the way those sponsors should advertise. Following is the information related to the current brand, which is sponsoring the company and three more brands which I have found for the franchise and the ways in which their logos are going to be advertised. Current Sponsors and how they are used The current sponsors, which the sports franchise has is Sky Sports; Sky Sports is a famous sports channel, where matches of different sports are shown. The current way in which the logo of Sky Sports is being displayed is through T shirts. Every athlete wears a shirt, on which the logo of Sky Sports is printed. As sports events are shown on national or international television, the logos are seen by everyone, who watches the sports event. Moreover, when athletes are called for interviews, they usually wear their sports jerseys, on which the logo of Star Sports is displayed, giving more exposure to the brand. First Sponsor The first brand which I would approach to sponsor the sports franchise is XBOX; XBOX has captured the attention of a vast audience, as it is fun for the children and the young. The Scale of Values in Alexander Pope s Poem The Rape of the Lock I found Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock a delightful, amusing poem. Throughout the poem, trivialities are compared with events and objects or consequence and the insignificant is treated with utmost importance. Its very title gives the reader an immediate clue; rape and all its connotations bring to mind a heinous crime of physical and spiritual violation. Perhaps this description could apply to the theft of a lock of hair, but only in a world where normal morals are perverted. This skewed scale of values is shown repeatedly throughout the poem, and supporting this alternate world are the sylphs. As the souls of former coquettes, the sylphs exist solely to ... Ariel says to Belinda: Warned by the Sylph, O pious maid, beware! / This to disclose is all thy guardian can: / Beware of all, but most beware of man! (1.109, 112 14). Man, of course, is the coquette s eternal adversary. A lady must be very careful; men may be allured and teased, but as prey they can be unpredictable. Following this warning Belinda wakes and begins the transcendental toilet, one of my favorite scenes in the poem. Pope elevates Belinda s morning preparations to the level of High Mass; a mystical, spiritual experience in which miraculous transformation takes place. In this ritual, however, cosmetic powers rather than cosmic powers are relied upon. (1.124). With the aid of the sylphs, Belinda begins her grooming: And now, unveiled, the toilet stands displayed, Each silver vase in mystic order laid. First, robed in white, the nymph intent adores, With head uncovered, the cosmetic powers. A heavenly image in the glass appears; To that she bends, to that her eyes she rears. When we solve a problem we try to apply the solution to similar problems because that makes our work easy and simple. Now in this paper I would like to cover important aspects of software reusability. But one thing is for sure software reusability can improve software productivity. Software reuse has become a topic of much interest in the software community due to its potential benefits, which include increased product quality and decreased product cost and schedule. And it s not just a technical issue; it is highly managerial in nature. As much as libraries of reusable code and other assets are important, they will not be fully utilized without management and process support of reuse. Organization and Process The classical software development process does not support reuse.[2] Reusable assets should be designed and built in a clearly defined, open way, with concise interface specifications, understandable documentation, and an eye towards future use. Typically, customer, client, and contract projects are built as one time only, without reuse in mind, and tend to be tightly bound within themselves, without the more robust open interfaces which ease the reuse process. Therefore, in order to make the most of software reuse, the software development process must evolve to include reuse activities. A strong organizational foundation must exist for reuse to succeed, since domain engineering involves a different way of looking at software products, called a product line approach. A product line is a family of similar products addressing a particular market segment, or domain, and provides a massive opportunity for reuse. With a reuse process in place, every ... • 16. Mark s Views On The Gospel Of Mark It is believed that the Gospel of Mark was written in the time period of 66 through73 CE, sometime during the Jewish Revolt. Mark makes reference to the destruction and rebuilding of the temple in chapter thirteen of his writings. He references other events that happened during the time period of the Jewish revolt later in the same chapter. These events were the fleeing of the people to the mountains and the hardship the admirers of Jesus in Palestine had during the Jewish Revolt. Mark s proposed audience of his gospel are considered to be a mixture of Jews and Gentiles, those that were rich and poor, those of that were of the upper class of citizens and the lower class of people and early leader of the church. Mark used the Hebrew Scriptures which indicate that the audience had knowledge of the Jewish teachings and beliefs. He also explains certain Jewish Palestinian traditions and practices which a Gentile would not have the knowledge to understand. Also Mark s writings are in Greek, which may be an indication that the audience is outside of Palestine. An example of this is Mark 5:41, Mark used the verb egeiren, which translates from Greek to mean arise. The literary source that were available to Mark during the time of his writing of the gospel were Paul s letters to the Thessalonians, the Septuagint, the Church and the stories that have been passed down through the generations. After experiencing both forms of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, I feel like the book version portrayed the locked in syndrome more effectively than the film because it s coming from a man who was truly locked in, giving the readers the ability to visualize what could be happening, while accounting for actual events that took place. When the 43 year old man finds out he is only a mind who is able to blink he immediately thinks of his two children and his father. Who in turns is pretty much locked in too, while he is only confined to his apartment, Jean was taking care of him. In the book he specifically says We are both locked in in our own way, me in my carcass, and my father on his fourth floor apartment (Bauby). There is more meaning behind it because it is coming from a man who can truly only think and blink, he is watching his body rot away like an old apple and he isn t even able to care for his father. Now a days, the fairy tales children are aware are not the Hans Christian Anderson, Studio Ghibli or Brothers Grimm, but Disney. Disney has taken the typification portrayal in the fairy tales, make it a reality and took it to entertainment industry. Comparing the original narrative to the Disney version, most of the stories have went through retellings and alternation; for example Hamlet and The Lion King. Disney has inadvertently neglected these stories origin and motive. Many agree and have picked up The Lion King, Disney s most watched and victorious movie till date, as Disney s only original movie; the only movie which is previously has not been a fairy tale. First, the occupied world consists of things, each an accumulation of the threads of life, and not of objects which are considered as bounded, independent and absolute entities. Per Ingold (2010: 2) To create things, per Aristotle, involves a bringing together of a form (morphe) and matter (hyle) . To illustrate this, let s consider Vitraya Ramunong or The Tree of Souls (Avatar,2009). Where do the Tree of Souls end and the rest of Pandora begin? Even though the question sounds quite simple, it is not easily answered. We can look at the physical aspects first. Is the giant Willow like tree s bark part of the tree? Are the organisms occupying the bark part of the tree? Are the woodsprites, or seeds, part of the tree? Are the creatures occupying the tree part of the tree? Are the Na vi clans who occupy the tree part of the tree? Is the unobtanium deposit underneath the tree part of the tree? Are the algae growing on and underneath the tree part of the tree? Reoccurring themes, character archetypes, familiar settings, and recycled plots are elements that are consistently repeated in films; however, every film has individual components in which audiences are able to relate to and interpret in separate perspectives. Two different movies that share common similarities include the 1988 black comedy Heathers and the 2004 teen comedy Mean Girls. Although the movies Heathers and Mean Girls take place in different decades, they are both cult classics, contain iconic quotes and characters, and involve cliques with four members eventually revolving around a single member of the group. A difference between the two films, would be that they take place in separate decades. Since Heathers takes place in the 1980s, certain elements including fashion, language, and culture, are significantly different from those featured in Mean Girls. In Heathers, the main characters are seen wearing oversized blazers and shoulder pads, while the girls in Mean Girls sported early 2000s fashion including velour tracksuits and jeans. The pop culture references in both films vary greatly as well since both decades have distinctive artists, movies, and figures that were considered relevant at the time. In addition, the different time periods in both films demonstrate the development of technology and its usage in society. For example, in Heathers the only phones seen in the film are in the ... Pages 40 44 are an anti climax mired in too much detail. I recommend that you eliminate most of the discussion there. As I noted in the margins, these last pages should be devoted to summing up your argument, discussing the significance of your findings, and pointing to the next stage in your research. Power Of Personal Production By 3d Printing Power of Personal Production Imagine that you could design a three dimensional object as quickly as it would take to decide on material and computer design: this idea is what created the technology of 3D printing. From the conception of 3D printing in 1984, to the first stem cell transplant, 3D printing has evolved from a sci fi like idea to a realistic addition in individual consumer lifestyles. Now instead of relying on large manufactures to produce a special or specific good, the consumer has the power of this production in their own home, creating individuality through cost productive methods of production. When you produce something yourself instead of purchasing it, that changes your relationship to it, says Chelsea Schelly, assistant professor of social sciences, of 3D printing. You are empowered by it. This empowerment is about to spur on a new industrial revolution in the manufacturing and distribution cycle. In essence, this printing revolution will encourage the individual to create, innovate, and fabricate their own personal design. In order to obtain a clear understanding of the increasingly popular scientific technology of 3D printing, it is necessary to research the history, current discoveries, and applications; however, maybe the most important topics to be discussed are the future directions, possible hazards, and intentions of this industry. The Polk Soil and Water Conservation District, has fully indorsed the rain barrels and provides forms to order the rain barrels. They are the easiest and most cost efficient way for property owners to divert their stormwater runoff. The ease of Rain Barrels are that the rooftop downspouts are directed to a 55 gallon (usually) barrel that collects rainwater and stores it until needed for a specific use, such as watering plants. Eliot portrays a disconnect from humanity and a disillusionment with typical beliefs as a source of human despair in The Hollow Men. The hollow men that the work is centered around are depicted devoid of any human qualities that might provide them a relief from despair, such as hope or faith. As is written in T. S. Eliot s Indigenous Critical Concepts and The Hollow Men by Muhammad Khan Sangi and others, In this poem the human beings have been shown devoid of the qualities of faith, moral strength, of personality, determination and that of humanity; they are like empty bodies, lacking all human virtues (Sangi et al para 4). No matter how these qualities were lost to the individuals, the result is constant and predictable: the individuals feel an inescapable despair. When one has nothing to anticipate in life, no expectations or hopes, then life loses its meaning. This is the world that the hollow men live in perpetually. The entire work, as Sangi describes, is a cry of despair unrelieved by hope. The peculiarity of the poem is that it is an inner drama with the utmost economy of words. The images echo the deadness of sensibility and the emptiness of hollow men who, like the effigies, are fit only for burning (Sangi et al para 5). A Study on Operant and Classical Conditioning Operant and Classical Conditioning Classical conditioning best explains reflective responding that is largely controlled by stimuli preceding the response, while operant conditioning is the kind of learning influenced by stimulus events that follow the responses. (Weiten). In operant conditioning, reinforcement is defined as after the fact. Reinforcement follows a response and increases tendency to make the response. In classical conditioning, the reinforcement comes before the response is made and increases tendency to make the response. A middle school teacher intercepted a note that contained personal information, read it out loud, and the student the note was intended for leaves the class and school, feels sick at going to school the next day, and becomes ill at the thought of the teacher. This is a classical conditioning case. (Daniels, 2009). If the student s behavior had happened before the teacher intercepted the note and read it out loud, it would have been a case of operant conditioning. In classical conditioning, the student s reaction to the teacher, classroom, and the school is a conditioned response and creates a physiological reaction. In operant conditioning, the teacher s reaction to the student s behavior, if reversed, would have been conditioned and creates a physiological reaction. His two year campaign through the south fighting against the likes of General Nathanael Greene and General George Washington took its toll on his forces. He marched his army of 7,000 troops to the harbor town of Yorktown located next to the York River in Virginia. His original mission was to receive reinforcements and supplies, however upon his arrival, General Sir Henry Clinton, the commander in chief for the British forces, ordered General Cornwallis to secure the harbor and prepare for extraction by the Royal Navy. General George Washington of the American Forces, who was encamped at Dobbs Ferry, heard about Cornwallis heading to Yorktown while he was assaulting the town ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Insanity And The Insanity Defense The purpose of this essay is to explain why the insanity plea, or the insanity defense as it is also known, is not a legitimate defense for any type of crime. The insanity defense has been around for a number of years but does it make a mockery of the legal system? While many people have used the insanity defense, it loses more times than it wins. This defense is used when someone believes they did not know right from wrong while committing the crime. The problem with this is that it is hard to know someone s mental state when there is not much evidence to go on. Someone can become mentally ill after a crime or someone may have been mentally ill before a crime. Neither one of these issues always weigh on the actual crime. A large ... While it is important to note that there are certain behaviors that are found to be common when someone is depressed, depression does not facilitate itself the same way in all people. The National Institute of Mental Health (n.d.) tells us, People with depressive illnesses do not all experience the same symptoms. The severity, frequency, and duration of symptoms vary depending on the individual and his or her particular illness. Understanding that there are so many different interpretations of the word insanity, it could be argued that knowing the difference between right and wrong is not always clear. The following syllogistic formula can be considered when thinking about this topic: Major Premise: All people who plead insanity are admitting to a mental disease or defect. Minor Premise: If a person has a mental disease or defect, it does not mean that he/she cannot tell right from wrong. Conclusion: If a person uses an insanity defense, it does not mean that he/she did not know right from wrong while committing the crime. Brannigan (2005) tells the story of Andrea Pia Yates. Ms. Yates was a mother of five children all under the age of seven. While Ms. Yates was depressed, her own claim, she drowned each child one at a time in the bathtub of their home on March 13, 2002. She admitted to killing all of the children, but she claimed that she was not guilty by reason of insanity. She was found guilty and is now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fruitvale Station, written and directed by Ryan Coogler, took audiences by surprise as it resonated with twenty two year old Oscar Grant, a man who was shot down by the BART Police. As the movie continues, Grant is shown as being a doer. Acting on situations without much thought and logic, his life has been full of risks. By depicting Grant as having two completely different sides to him, the director does a great job in displaying his struggles with himself as he tries to become a better man for the sake of his family. • 43. Fear Of Manipulating A Spinal Injury Focusing my attention back on the PL, I moved to check the one place unseen and began removing his helmet. His head was protected, but tilting his chin back was one thing I didn t want to do for fear of manipulating a spinal injury. It also is what finally exposed and opened the small hole in his throat from an apparent piece of shrapnel and he began to bleed profusely. I immediately called the medic away from one of the less seriously wounded to help me with the bleeding. I packed the wound but loosely, not wanting to interfere with what was left of his airway and then pulled him up to my lap so I could maintain pressure on the wound. He was still dying. At this time I had twelve that needed evacuation and eight more walking wounded. There were barely enough lucid Soldiers to pull security, but my biggest problem was that the QRF had not arrived yet. Searching for an improvised solution for the PL who I believed was expectant at this point, I saw an Afghan National Army truck parked nearby with a driver who seemed as though he was trying to help. I directed that the PL be loaded onto the back of the pickup truck with two ambulatory Soldiers who could pull security on both the surroundings and the driver. I sent the medic to monitor his airway. The interpreter conveyed my directions to the driver to take the Soldiers straight to our Entry Control Point at the AP, and I instructed the PL s security to take the vehicle by any means necessary if the driver did not follow directions. Our Platoon Leader was now conscious and responsive, and I told him where he was going and why. Less than fifteen minutes after the attack, the PL and his fight for life was on his way to next level care. As the truck pulled off our 3rd Platoon arrived as QRF. The QRF medic took over where ours had left off. All the casualties were stable and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through its eventful past it is easy to see how Madagascar gained its history, culture, and religion, this is the identity that the country has shifted to over this vast amount of time. It seems several of the world s greatest discoveries are on accident. Over the next several years the French and the English attempted settlements and control on Madagascar but failed miserably, one memorable Christmas day 1672 local tribe members attacked Fort Dauphine (the current French colony) brutally and purposefully killing fourteen men and thirteen women. This massacre is rumored to have been because these fourteen men deserted and divorced native Malagasy women in order to marry younger and purer French women. This battle lasted a long eighteen months as the French remained barricaded in their fort while the angry tribal members raged battle. In 1674 thirty remaining men and the one widow were saved by the arrival of the French East India Company. The next several years between 1680 and 1725 Madagascar was a famed and feared pirate cove, which during these years hundreds of European vessels were ransacked of all their valuables and scrapped to the island, as a result Madagascar became on of Europe s most feared shipping routes. The Merina monarchy began about 1795 with king Andrianampoinimerina, who by marrying various princesses of different Merina clans united the Merina kingdom and began his conquest over Madagascar. • 45. The Importance And Uses Of Wastewater Treatment Wastewater treatment is important in many ways. One reason that it is so important is because, at the plant, they water and other things as well. In the Middle Ages in London people had laws and regulations about waste treatment (O Neill, 2013). Without wastewater treatment most species of animals would be extinct because the water in lakes and oceans would be polluted with human waste. Wastewater treatment is important because it keeps the Earth clean, it recycles more than just water, and it saves animal species from becoming extinct. Wastewater treatment keeps the Earth clean because without it humans would not have a steady source of drinking water. Back in the Middle Ages people were concerned about water treatment. People were heavily fined if they were caught dumping sewage into the streets. Instead, the people would take their buckets filled with raw sewage and dump it into nearby rivers and streams. This was extremely unsanitary. The bacteria, or decomposers, would break down the waste but there was so much that it took a long time. The people didn t know how disease was spread by waste. They thought that it was by its odors (O Neill, 2013). People who owned larger houses had people come and clean their enclosed latrines. Even further back, the Aztecs had a waste system where all of the human waste would be used as fertilizer for their crops (Medina, 2014). Then the saprophytic bacteria would do the rest, consuming the decomposing matter. Saprophytic bacteria ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Lady With The Pet Dog Analysis The Lady with the Pet Dog written by Anton Chekhov and The Lady with the Pet Dog written by Joyce Carol Oates illustrate what goes through the mind when committing adultery. Both are tales of love lost and love found, including romances with adulterous spouses and secret meetings. The Lady with the Pet Dog written by Chekhov and Oates present the actions and decisions of two very unhappy married individuals, whom one could say meet by chance. In both short stories the plot line is extraordinarily similar; both love affairs end up finding true love from each other; however, the emotions and general idea differ from the point of view analyzed. Although both short stories illustrate immensely similar qualities, the short story by Joyce Carol Oates is more effective in three main areas. The three main areas where Oates story is more effective include the use of the female characters, the use of point of views, and the use of dogs. Throughout the two short stories, both interpret the use of the female characters excitingly different. The short story written by Chekhov interprets the female, Anna, as the female who can handle committing adultery while only breaking down/crying a few times. On the other hand, the story written by Oates interprets the female, Anna, as a female who can t handle committing adultery where she cuts herself (thinking about suicide) and almost to the point where she goes crazy. In Chekhov s story the female is best examined through the quotation: Anna Sergeyevna and he loved each other as people do who are very close and intimate, like man and wife, like tender friends; it seemed to them that fate itself had meant them for one another... (Chekhov 224). This quotation by the narrator best explains that Anna Sergeyevna is a happy woman with her secret husband and she has accepted that they have to live in secret. But, Anna is okay with that because it seems as if fate has brought them together, although she questions it at the beginning of the story. On the contrary, in Oates s story the female is best explained through the quotation: She was certain of that. But the bath water made her dizzy, all that perpetual heat, and one day in January she drew a razor blade lightly across the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Dance In Swan Lake Interpretation Watching Silja Schandorff s fully realized performance in Swan Lake teaches much about what it takes to make a swan, and what it takes to dance Peter Martins choreography. Schandorff, a principal dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet and one of the originators of the role when it was created on the Danes in 1996, replaced Miranda Weese in the dual role of Odette and Odile. I ve now seen four women in these roles (Meunier, Weese, Whelan and Schandorff) and there s no question that Schandorff was the best prepared, even with having to fly trans Atlantic and with perhaps a day s rehearsal with her partner. She s now done the role for three years, but even more importantly, the thought that struck one like a thunderbolt on even her first entrance was My God! She s actually been *coached*! There was never a single moment Schandorff seemed left to her own devices. It didn t look fey, or artificial and overcoached, it just didn t look thoughtless. It s not even a matter of her arms and legs being in the right position (they were, always.) She knew who she was, whether Odette or Odile. She knew who Siegfried was. She always knew why she danced. She knew when she was swearing her love, when she was saying no , when she was leaving him forever. I m not trying to denigrate Schandorff by emphasizing how much it seems she had help. She also very obviously has excellent instincts and facility and can act. But in a full length narrative ballet like Swan Lake, instincts are not enough, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Music Is Vital For Film From The First Silent Film Music is vital to film from the first silent film to modern IMAX films. In order to understand the significance of film music, it must be defined. Grove Music Online defines film music as music composed, arranged, compile or improvised to accompany motion pictures. In the sound cinema, music is recorded as a soundtrack on the film stock and reproduced in exact synchronization with the projected visual image. This paper discusses the history and methods of music in film, explains the psychological power of music in film, the advancement of technology for music in film, and provides a few examples of composers who have written music for film. Many novice movie goers believe that film score music and the soundtracks they listen to all began with film, but its tradition is actually much older. The approach to writing film music goes much farther back then the first film created, circa 1895, and even goes back farther than popular operas like Mozart s Le Nozze di Figaro in 1786. The development goes back to the Ancient Greek theater and even further back to the ancient rituals of the Sumerians. Understanding the history behind the development of music that leads to music in film provides composers a starting point when beginning to build their first film score, this process allows composers to learn from their predecessor s successes and mistakes. Many of the early works that film music composers wrote were in the nineteenth century late Romantic style of Wagner and Strauss ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People can learn what activities are right or wrong for them by experiences these emotions in different situations. These learning experiences can take place at home, school, the workplace, or anywhere else. The three major experiences that have given me confidence in my ability to learn have all taken place at Penn State University. One experience that, in the end, gave me confidence was my first semester of lessons with the Penn State School of Music clarinet professor. The Professor was not a personable man. I love to tell jokes and stories to many people at one time, but I was nervous and somewhat embarrassed about preparing some boring speech and making everyone else suffer by listening to it. Mrs. Larson explained that we all have problems with this and that it can be overcome. I remember something simple she said that stuck in my mind: The only way to get over the fear of something is to just do it. She was right. As I had to go up to give the speech, her words constantly kept running through my mind. After the speech, I realized that we were all in the same boat suffering from the same seasickness nervousness, We all had to give speeches. No one was out to criticize anyone else and we all ended up supporting each other! I learned that I could make a boring speech interesting if I have fun with it and feel comfortable as the speaker of the moment. Becoming a member of the Penn State Blue Band was the ultimate experience that gave me total confidence.
