Moodle 2.3 & News

 Moodle 2.3
  – Came out over the summer
  – Big change is drag and drop uploading and assessment
    submission
  – This is rumoured to work with IE 10
  – Upload one file and put in multiple locations – the file
    will update all copies
  – Needs Private files to be enabled
  – You can only upgrade to Moodle 2.3 from Moodle 2.2 or
later. If upgrading from earlier versions, you must
upgrade to 2.2 as a first step.

Moodle Cloning

Cloning Moodle

This is something it is important to be able to do: To make a
clone of your Moodle so you can test dangerous things (like
an upgrade) safely, before you do it for real.

The procedure is described on
http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Moodle_migration . (To migrate
your site from one server to another, first you clone it onto
the other server, then you delete the original. If you just want
a clone, stop before deleting the original.)

                                                    November 15, 2012 | slide 5
 Alternatives

 We have some induction courses with a long list of
topics and we have used alternative course
formats in order to avoid the ‘scroll of death’.
  These are some suggestions:

 -Use the ‘Course menu’ block which displays a list
of topics. Although there is no a version for
Moodle 2.2, we are using the version for Moodle
  2.0 and it is working fine. November 15, 2012 | slide 6
