Artificial intelligence transforming the phase of supply chain managementRahul R
Professionals associated with logistics and supply chain are always on their heels to shape the operational chain innovatively that address the challenges more efficiently and minimizes the risk that caused otherwise.
When the professionals hunt for new possibilities, technology is always there for help! Although the concept of Artificial Intelligence is six decades old, it is well on its course to take over the lives of people slowly by making it easy and efficient.
Information sharing is a major challenge in SCM due to the geographical spread of partners and monumental paper work involved across countries and regions. Digitisation impacts the flow of goods, funds and information. It is at the threshold of introducing the Smart Factory where all flows are automated. How relevant are these technologies for India? What can be the Smart Approach for India in sequencing the adoption of these technologies? We present a suggested approach here.

Digital Transformation is one of the most important business trends of our time. A lot of research has already been done on this topic. Most research has examined Digital Transformation within organisations, or between organisations
and their customers.
But in today’s globalised and outsourced world, an organisation’s success is no longer dependent on its own efforts alone. Today, the success of an organisation depends largely on how effectively it can orchestrate a vast, global network of supply chain partners to deliver goods and services that meet the needs of individual consumers.
This presentation [which was presented today to mark European Supply Chain Day in Ireland] highlights how the utilisation of digital technologies and processes enable supply chains to be more effectively and efficiently managed, creating business networks and increasing the overall supply chain visibility within the network.

Executive Summary
It started with the internet, and the drum beat continues. Mobile. Social. Cloud. Digital Products. Telematics. The Internet of Things. The list of enablers is endless.
Over the last decade, digital marketing departments quickly took advantage of new technologies to power marketing capabilities. As a result, companies have new products and services; but, over the last decade there has been little change in supply chain processes.
There is a great divide in organizations today. There are digital teams in marketing while there are traditional supply chain processes in operations. Many supply chain leaders are asking how they digitize their supply chain practices. This report is designed to help. Here we share a five-step process to get started, and we provide insights from recent research on how to transform manufacturing processes.
What Is Digital Business?
Digitization transforms businesses. A digital business model uses new forms of technology to create new forms of revenue and business value. It is about the use of combinations of technologies to sense changes in real-time and shape a meaningful output.
Digital business is about much, much more than the redefinition of business processes for B2B and B2C. While e-business strategies are foundational, and necessary, it is about more than e-business. In today’s supply chain, while B2C models are well defined and new supply chain models have embraced and redefined e-commerce delivery, B2B processes lag B2C. Today, only 9% of B2B commerce business flows through business networks. There are no digital B2B officers. Companies have been slow to adopt new forms of B2B.

These slides use concepts from my (Jeff Funk) course entitled analyzing hi-tech opportunities to show how in improvements in printed electronics, wireless telecom, and the Internet are enabling the greater use of smart logistics. Logistics now represents 10% of global GDP thus representing a large percentage of expenditures. Improvements in printed electronics enables cheaper and better RFID tags and smart packaging; the latter can be accessed by logistic companies and consumers. All of this enables better monitoring of products throughout their journey to the marketplace, on ships, in warehouses, and in retail outlets. It also enables customers to more easily find products in retail outlets and for robots to find products in warehouses.

The AI Platform Business Revolution: Matchmaking, Empathetic Technology, and ...Steve Omohundro
Popular media is full of stories about self-driving cars, video deepfakes, and robot citizens. But this kind of popular artificial intelligence is having very little business impact. The actual impact of AI on business is in automating business processes and in creating the "AI Platform Business Revolution". Platform companies create value by facilitating exchanges between two or more groups. AI is central to these businesses for matchmaking between producers and consumers, organizing massive data flows, eliminating malicious content, providing empathetic personalization, and generating engagement through gamification. The platform structure creates moats which generate outsized sustainable profits. This is why platform businesses are now dominating the world economy. The top five companies by market cap, half of the unicorn startups, and most of the biggest IPOs and acquisitions are platforms. For example, the platform startup ByteDance is now worth $75 billion based on three simple AI technologies.
In this talk we survey the current state of AI and show how it will generate massive business value in coming years. A recent McKinsey study estimates that AI will likely create over 70 trillion dollars of value by 2030. Every business must carefully choose its AI strategy now in order to thrive over coming decades. We discuss the limitations of today's deep learning based systems and the "Software 2.0" infrastructure which has arisen to support it. We discuss the likely next steps in natural language, machine vision, machine learning, and robotic systems. We argue that the biggest impact will be created by systems which serve to engage, connect, and help individuals. There is an enormous opportunity to use this technology to create both social and business value.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.
