SELECTED PROJECTS
The Pharmacy at the Medical Center (2017) – Remodeled space and opened new pharmacy in abbreviated
implementation process which typically take 4-6 months to less than 3 months including permitting, licensing and buildout.
We overcame challenges with holiday schedules, shortened time frames and limited resources to get pharmacy open on Jan
4th.
Singing River Pharmacy (2015) – One of 2 pharmacies we opened as part of a health system pharmacy buyout. We
purchased and managed pharmacy in existing space until buildout and new pharmacy were complete. Pharmacy was part of
new overall branded design which was implemented for all Proxsys Rx pharmacies opened in the future. Fixtures were
designed and custom built for our design and layout, products sourced and prices negotiated in addition to regular
implementation tasks. Pharmacy opened on time and on budget due to multiple regulatory stumbling blocks.
The Pharmacy at Rush (2014) – Managed first Proxsys Rx-owned pharmacy opening, including all regulatory and
contracting issues caused by a vendor currently occupying the space. Handled vendor contracts, pharmacy licensing, DEA
registration, third-party contracting, permits and inspections, and pharmacy items (from equipment to office supplies).
Oversaw painting, floor patching/refinishing, fixture and shelving installation, computer network setup, and merchandise
intake. Successfully opened in 5 days with all drugs, snack vendors, OTC merchandise, and pharmacy systems in place.
Overcame many issues, including acquiring staff of previous pharmacy at administration's request, undergoing change in
ownership, and learning new systems.
St. Vincent's Pharmacy at Birmingham (2012) – Oversaw management-only takeover of existing health-system-owned
pharmacy being managed by inpatient pharmacist with no management experience. Assessed current processes and
infrastructure, including staffing, benefits, inventory, contracting, and workflow. Successfully transitioned employees,
reduced inventory by resetting entire pharmacy, improved workflow by adding equipment to workstations, and implemented
procedures for daily/weekly/monthly tasks to streamline reporting. Investigated how health system was reimbursing
pharmacy for in-houseitems, such as payroll deduction, charity programs, and workers’ compensation medication, resulting
in an increase in gross margin from negative to positive cash flow.
Baptist Hoover Pharmacy (2011) – First pharmacy owned by large health system, requiring collaboration with health
system departments, including IT, phone, finance, facilities, and outside vendors (architects, builders, etc.). Overcame
numerous obstacles, including putting pharmacy on a sub-net under VPN tunnel to satisfy health system security concerns.
Accomplished project on schedule and under budget despite delay of building materials/supplies due to 2011 tornadoes.
