Hazard Evaluation
Hazard: audience and public
What could cause harm?
The public would not know what is happening as it would be a secluded photoshoot however
as they are students and teachers they could physically harm the Model, or disrupt filming
and set, such as coming into the set and knocking items over which could land on people and
cause harm
What is the likelihood of this happening?
This is not very likely if we get a closed room out of the way of the school students and if we
aware teachers of what is happening
How much harm?
Not too much harm can be done unless people without knowledge of what is happening
cause an accident with props and set.
How will this risk be managed?
to manage the risk I will book a private location which is only accessible a few such as myself,
the media teachers and so on , all these people will know what is happening. I will have a
safe set so that there is the smallest risk possible in the set, so accidents are less likely to
cause damage.
Hazard: cables
What could cause harm?
To many cables which could be on the floor and cause people to fall over, or could be firer
hazard if there is to many
What is the likelihood of this happening?
There is a medium likely hood because we could have light cables or things in the set might
need to be powered
How much harm?
The harm could be physical injury and causing damage such as firer ( if water is spilt )
How will this risk be managed
To eliminate this threats, we will follow safety rules of firers, the wires will be kept close
to the walls out of walking paths along with no drinks being allowed in the room so that
there isn’t a chance of spilling and causing firers to happen
Hazard: communication failure
What could cause harm?
A lack of communication could cause problems with in the working people could be sent to
the wrong location which could be harmful or try to do something which they thought they
were told to do which could be harmed
What is the likelihood of this happening?
The isn’t very likely to happen
How much harm?
They could become mentally distressed or physically hurt
How will this risk be managed
To prevent this from happening it will all be written out on a photo shoot time table , we
will limit distracting sounds so communication can be made clear
Hazard: confined space
What could cause harm?
Panic attacks of people with claustrophobe, damage if accidents happen as they could hit
their head on walls or objects in the small room.
What is the likelihood of this happening?
This isn’t likely to happen.
How much harm?
It could mentally cause harm if they have a fear of small spaces and it could cause some
physical injury’s
How will this risk be managed?
The room will be made into the saves environment possible and the model will be asked
if they agree to go into the small space, such as a contract
Hazard: costume and make up
What could cause harm?
Allergic reactions to products or cause of discomfort, the costumes may not fit and could stop
there movements as it could restrict them
What is the likelihood of this happening?
This is not very likely
How much harm?
Physical Injury could happen
How will the risk be managed
To prevent this,we will do a clothes measurement session itwill bedocumented on the time table so the model
can find clothes which fitproperly so that they aren’t too big and causepeople to strugglewith movement. They
will also testmake up they will useand note down allergy’s they have
Hazard: electricity
What could cause harm?
If electrical equipment is damaged this can cause fires or people being electrocuted. This
could be caused by water damage or faulty equipment.
What is the likelihood of this happening?
How much harm?
This could cause serious injury and put people in hospital.
How will this risk be managed?
There will be an first aider on call along with safety rules which apply to the setting to keep
accidents from happening everyone involved will be told these
thr
Hazard: machinery
What couldcause harm?
Anytechnical machinerycouldbe usedlike camerasandlightsthesecouldbe heavyif theyfall and
cause harm from firerorelectrical problems
What isthe likelihoodof thishappening?
Thisisn’tverylikelytohappen.
How muchharm?
It couldcause harm if there were issuessuchasfire or electrical issuesthiscouldcause seriousharm
The machinerywill be safe , this willbe checkedbefore use along withthe layout being clear to limit accidentlyalong
with there being rules set inthe locationlike norunning or something whichcould cause physical damamge
Hazard: firer
What is the likelihood of this happening?
This isn’t likely to happen however accidents with machinery , lighting , cables and wires
could be fire hazards
How much harm?
This could really harm individuals if a fire started it could cause harm and major physical
injury
How will the risk bemanaged
Not only will I havethe location safely setout and have rules in the location there will befire extinguisher
nd other firer protected equipment
Hazard: lighting
What could cause harm?
The lighting could be to warm and it could also cause machinery problems and a fire hazard if
knocked over
What is the likelihood of this happening?
This is not likely if everyone acts safely and professionally in the setting
How much harm?
It could cause fires and fall on people.
How will the risk be managed
Havingrules as no runningand makingsure the setting is safeso any accidents arelimited. The location has
been checked over and is safeplace, the positioningof wires and lightingwill besafe within the room.
Hazard: slipping,falling,tripping
What couldcause harm?
Slippingonliquid,trippingoverwires,anyaccidentsthatcouldhappenbecause of missplaced
obstaclesorclothing
What isthe likelihoodof thishappening?
Thisis the one of the mostlikelythingstohappenasthisisan accident, thiscouldalsomake chain
reactionstocause otherissuessuchasfallingintoitemsorprops
How muchharm?
Thiscouldcause physical harmhoweveritcouldalsomake more hazardsinthe environment
How will the riskbe managed
A personwhois trained like a first aider will be oncallto treat the injuryand there will be other people to help if it h as
a dominoeffect on other things , along withsafetyrules to helpprevent anyaccident anda well thought out setting so
there aren’t that manyaccidentals
Hazard: glass
What couldcause harm?
Brokensharppiecesof glasscouldcut people involvedif smashed
What isthe likelihoodof thishappening?
There will be glassin windows, doors, bulbsandcamera withsafetyrulesitisn’tverylikelythat
these will break.
How muchharm?
It couldcause bleedingandphysicallyinjurytopeople nearthe brokenglassorwho’sinvolvedinit
The treatment will be treatedaccordinglyalong withproper equipment to cleanup the glass if broken, experienced
people will be there to use cameras andto tidyup anyaccident if theyoccur however one of the most important things
is beingsafe in the environment

  • 2. Hazard Evaluation Hazard: audience and public What could cause harm? The public would not know what is happening as it would be a secluded photoshoot however as they are students and teachers they could physically harm the Model, or disrupt filming and set, such as coming into the set and knocking items over which could land on people and cause harm What is the likelihood of this happening? This is not very likely if we get a closed room out of the way of the school students and if we aware teachers of what is happening How much harm? Not too much harm can be done unless people without knowledge of what is happening cause an accident with props and set. How will this risk be managed? to manage the risk I will book a private location which is only accessible a few such as myself, the media teachers and so on , all these people will know what is happening. I will have a safe set so that there is the smallest risk possible in the set, so accidents are less likely to cause damage. Hazard: cables What could cause harm? To many cables which could be on the floor and cause people to fall over, or could be firer hazard if there is to many What is the likelihood of this happening? There is a medium likely hood because we could have light cables or things in the set might need to be powered How much harm? The harm could be physical injury and causing damage such as firer ( if water is spilt ) How will this risk be managed To eliminate this threats, we will follow safety rules of firers, the wires will be kept close to the walls out of walking paths along with no drinks being allowed in the room so that there isn’t a chance of spilling and causing firers to happen
  • 3. Hazard: communication failure What could cause harm? A lack of communication could cause problems with in the working people could be sent to the wrong location which could be harmful or try to do something which they thought they were told to do which could be harmed What is the likelihood of this happening? The isn’t very likely to happen How much harm? They could become mentally distressed or physically hurt How will this risk be managed To prevent this from happening it will all be written out on a photo shoot time table , we will limit distracting sounds so communication can be made clear Hazard: confined space What could cause harm? Panic attacks of people with claustrophobe, damage if accidents happen as they could hit their head on walls or objects in the small room. What is the likelihood of this happening? This isn’t likely to happen. How much harm? It could mentally cause harm if they have a fear of small spaces and it could cause some physical injury’s How will this risk be managed? The room will be made into the saves environment possible and the model will be asked if they agree to go into the small space, such as a contract
  • 4. Hazard: costume and make up What could cause harm? Allergic reactions to products or cause of discomfort, the costumes may not fit and could stop there movements as it could restrict them What is the likelihood of this happening? This is not very likely How much harm? Physical Injury could happen How will the risk be managed To prevent this,we will do a clothes measurement session itwill bedocumented on the time table so the model can find clothes which fitproperly so that they aren’t too big and causepeople to strugglewith movement. They will also testmake up they will useand note down allergy’s they have Hazard: electricity What could cause harm? If electrical equipment is damaged this can cause fires or people being electrocuted. This could be caused by water damage or faulty equipment. What is the likelihood of this happening? How much harm? This could cause serious injury and put people in hospital. How will this risk be managed? There will be an first aider on call along with safety rules which apply to the setting to keep accidents from happening everyone involved will be told these thr
  • 5. Hazard: machinery What couldcause harm? Anytechnical machinerycouldbe usedlike camerasandlightsthesecouldbe heavyif theyfall and cause harm from firerorelectrical problems What isthe likelihoodof thishappening? Thisisn’tverylikelytohappen. How muchharm? It couldcause harm if there were issuessuchasfire or electrical issuesthiscouldcause seriousharm The machinerywill be safe , this willbe checkedbefore use along withthe layout being clear to limit accidentlyalong with there being rules set inthe locationlike norunning or something whichcould cause physical damamge Hazard: firer What is the likelihood of this happening? This isn’t likely to happen however accidents with machinery , lighting , cables and wires could be fire hazards How much harm? This could really harm individuals if a fire started it could cause harm and major physical injury How will the risk bemanaged Not only will I havethe location safely setout and have rules in the location there will befire extinguisher nd other firer protected equipment
  • 6. Hazard: lighting What could cause harm? The lighting could be to warm and it could also cause machinery problems and a fire hazard if knocked over What is the likelihood of this happening? This is not likely if everyone acts safely and professionally in the setting How much harm? It could cause fires and fall on people. How will the risk be managed Havingrules as no runningand makingsure the setting is safeso any accidents arelimited. The location has been checked over and is safeplace, the positioningof wires and lightingwill besafe within the room. Hazard: slipping, falling, tripping What couldcause harm? Slippingonliquid, trippingoverwires, anyaccidentsthatcouldhappenbecause of missplaced obstaclesorclothing What isthe likelihoodof thishappening? Thisis the one of the mostlikelythingstohappenasthisisan accident, thiscouldalsomake chain reactionstocause otherissuessuchasfallingintoitemsorprops How muchharm? Thiscouldcause physical harmhoweveritcouldalsomake more hazardsinthe environment How will the riskbe managed A personwhois trained like a first aider will be oncallto treat the injuryand there will be other people to help if it h as a dominoeffect on other things , along withsafetyrules to helpprevent anyaccident anda well thought out setting so there aren’t that manyaccidentals
  • 7. Hazard: glass What couldcause harm? Brokensharppiecesof glasscouldcut people involvedif smashed What isthe likelihoodof thishappening? There will be glassin windows, doors, bulbsandcamera withsafetyrulesitisn’tverylikelythat these will break. How muchharm? It couldcause bleedingandphysicallyinjurytopeople nearthe brokenglassorwho’sinvolvedinit The treatment will be treatedaccordinglyalong withproper equipment to cleanup the glass if broken, experienced people will be there to use cameras andto tidyup anyaccident if theyoccur however one of the most important things is beingsafe in the environment
