This document provides details on planning for a film trailer, magazine cover, and posters. The film is a drama about two best friends, Andrea and Emma, who have contrasting personalities. After a tragedy, Andrea isolates herself but Emma insists they make the most of their final summer together. Locations, characters, potential names, sound, posters, and magazine covers are discussed. Andrea's character is described as a girly girl struggling after a death. Emma is supportive but relaxed. Test screenings and feedback may cause changes to storyboards and decisions.

3. Plot – to get an idea on the film
here is a summary of the plot
– The film features 2 best friends Andrea and Emma who have very contrasting
personalities. After a tragedy either a death or an accident Andrea has to go to
the persons funeral at the begging of her summer as she's finished secondary
school ( British context). She isolates her self however her best Friend emma
will not allow her to and demands they have the best summer before they both
leave for the rest of there lives.
– The themes would be love, loss , relationships , education , teenagers and
realistic struggles.
– The film will be a drama film mixed with some comedy and romance

To achive this I have done lots of planning such as visiting locations , risk assessments, pricing, software
testing, plans , schedules and designs
The following slides show the basics for the points and what ideas I have for the trailer

5. Locations
– I have considered arrange of locations for the trailer as it needs to have an upbeat and
energetic field
– Weather plays a key part and will reflect emotions in the trailer so locations must be filmed on
specific days , I will keep track of weather forecasts and available times of the actors.
– Here are some places I’m thinking of filming. ( there will be a more detailed post )
– Homes , gardens , churches , attractions( fairs , cafes, ice rinks), streets and paths, woodlands ,
meadows , farms, traveling, shopping , attraction, beaches and more
– Some of the places are used just for establishing dialogue eg home
– Others are used for feeling like a church for a funeral
– Attractions and others are used to establish interesting and fun activities for a contrasting
feeling

6. Characters- Andrea
– Andrea has just finished secondary school
– She was involved with a death of someone close to her and isn’t doing well( shown
through injuries or bandages if its and accident )
– She's a girly girl ( shown through props and clothes )
– Her long time best friend is Emma
– She is single
– Isn't to close with her parents at the beginning
– Isn't to educational and fears she wont get into the uni she wants
– Will be played by Maria Hall

7. Character Emma
– She is a supportive friend
– However is relaxed with the seriousness of the year
– Is naturally very smart
– Dresses more casualty
– LGBT
– Wants to make the most of her time with her friend
– Close with her friends family
– Athletic – to existent
– Will be played by nikita brown

– I would like to pick a short catchy name that would stand out on the posters but wouldn’t take
up to much space the cast members like summer of 17 however I’m not fully decided. I would
also like the name to reflect some of the themes locations or props that’s why the summer of
17 works well as it is set in this specific time period.

10. sound
– Music and sound track is important , I have asked nikita Brown who is staring in
it to help me compose sound
– I have planned to use foley sound to create emphisis in situations
– Sounds – some will be filmed with the shots
– I will also use non copyrighted sounds

11. Poster
– The main ideas for the poster is to construct an image about the characters and about the feel
of the film in the theatrical poster it will contain information on the director , the realise date
and the actors. It will also have a main image of the actors

– Sitting on a bed one laying down one sitting up holding a pillow to her chest
– Sitting on a bridge
– Looking out to scenery
– Messing around giving each other piggy backs
– Laying in grass
– Colour will match the fell of the film , light and soft colours will be used and that could have
the connotations of summer. But also colours which represent the characters
– The name of the film is undecided and potential ideas are stated in a different slide

– The cover for the magazine has been planned slightly ( flat plan created )
– I have created some name ideas for the movie/ entertainment magazine name

– I have thought about the photography I will use for the main image
– I have thought about langue and lexis's for sell lines and straplines to have the biggest impact
– The colour scheme will match photography and the master head some ideas are bellow..

13. Master head and writing
– I'm pretty sure I'm going to use film extra and I have also began to design the title
– Taglines will involve the name of the film and phrases that will entice and catch the
readers attention.

– Sell lines will show offers and will run along the bottom of the page
– I’m going to have the barcode horizontal

14. Photography
– Here are some ideas I've had for the main image that are labelled in a blog post.
– A photo of the main character laying on fresh grass , making eye contact with the
camera, wearing a long girly dress flowing on the grass in a fan similar to he hair , it
shows the summer vibe and the personality. Her grabbing onto the grass as if shes
holding onto something ( the person who she lost ), maybe flowers in her hair.
– Her in a girl bed room to meet the target audience that’s intended and reflects the
atmosphere of the film.
– A green screened photo shoot of the main character at the front making eye contact
the best friend character looking to the side out of the camera, both dressed in
clothes similar to what there characters would wear.

15. Decisions
– The decisions which have been made have reflected of research , feed back and
creation , it was narrowed down and has changed on the available filming ,
locations and actors.
– The decisions may change because of opportunity and resources like my story
board has changed ( that will be featured in a drawn up and stills based power
point of the plan )
– I will work on these as I go along and as shooting goes and editing.

16. F lay out
A lay out which is usually used with websites however can be
applied to magazine covers it shows the order in which items
are read along the page following the numbers.
In a magazine this is why a master head would be put at the
top as it would be read left to right and is one of the first
things , this then works down the page in an f structure and
gets smaller as it goes down
I will consider this in the construction of my magazine.
