1. Question 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to the full product?
My immediate thoughts of media run straight towards; camera work, filming,
editing and learning the ins and outs of how the technology works. I was
almost right, but it turned out to be ever so slightly different. In our
preliminary task we was given a task to put together a ‘school magazine’. It
was either a magazine addressing the parents of the students or a magazine
from the head teacher addressing the students. I decided to go with the head
teacher addressing the students.
Reflecting back on my ability to work my way around Photoshop in
comparison to now, it was extremely basic. Also my ideas on how to put a
magazine together were also very simplistic and did not have that realistic
feel. My problem throughout my preliminary task was my research and ability
to use programmes. If we were to stick my school magazine next to my music
magazine, it would scream out to me that possibly a 7-year-old put together
the school magazine and the average teenager who has closely monitored
another person’s work put together the music magazine.
I am glad that I had the chance to find my way around a programme such as
Adobe Photoshop because a programme as such requires a decent level of
skill and patience, something I worked on in-between the two tasks.
There are many things that’s I would change about my preliminary task and
also my music magazine task now, nothing is ever right and I learnt that from
the steady progression with the use of Photoshop.
From the two pictures below you can clearly see the evidential progression I
have made with the use of Photoshop, not amazing but its progression.
