Question 7 Looking back at
the preliminary task what do
you feel you have learnt in
the progression from it to a
full product?
My preliminary task
My pages now
How I have developed my abilities
• Since I made my preliminary task my skills in Photoshop have improved a lot. On top of this I also
feel as though I was able to be more creative in my second task. I have learnt what kind of aspects
of a magazine are needed to create a good pages which look professional and reach the audience.
• Through the practice of the preliminary task I have been able to improve my skills, for example, I
am much better at cropping out pictures using the magic wand tool which I struggled with
before.
• A large thing which helped in my development of my pages was my research and planning. Using
this enabled me to look into the layout of what a real magazine looks like and I was able to copy
this and include it in my magazine giving it a more professional appearance.
• I have also learnt about colour schemes from analysing other magazines in my genre. When
making my school magazine I just a colour scheme without looking at what kind of message the
colours connoted and on top of that I didn’t stick to the colour scheme very well. In my new
magazine however I have realised that different genres of music use different colour schemes as
they connote different things which represent the music and attract different audiences.
